Your endless child was 💯💯💯
I would love to see a more detailed version, especially bc of free Morpheus still being wary around humans
I’d also love to know, is there anything that she could do, that would disappoint him? Or anger him?
Take care!!
Firstly, I would like to say thank you for your compliment, and I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed my story!
As for your question, I don't want to go into details because of ✨spoilers✨, but I could definitely say for sure that the Reader will eventually disappoint/anger him one way or another (*cough* by keeping quiet about something very severe or him thinking she's exactly like Roderick Burgress *cough*)
And let's just say, it involves a certain someone with golden eyes...👀

Try list any Octo-Agents and think of an Episode you Think give them a Shining Moment
W O O F this took a while– I was thinking long and hard about this because there are SO MANY good moments and episodes 😅, and so many agents– it was difficult, but I’m happy with my answers 👀
Ranger Marsh’s Shine Episode is definitely The Monitor Lizards. I LOVE this episode, it’s one of my favourites in the whole series so far—not just because of the events in it, but as a concept. I LOVE the callback to the Great Swamp Search!! I watched the 2nd season blind, and seeing all these familiar faces was SUCH a fun surprise. It’s good for Ranger Marsh as a character, because it actually shows him doing his job as a Ranger, not as an Octo-Agent. It also reinforces the fact that he truly cares for and is friends with these creatures, even if they are invasive, and that he's willing to travel to check in on them. This is another episode that also proves (to me) that the writers know they’re dealing with an older audience for the show, and are more likely to delve into solid lore and continuity. This episode makes me really hopeful for more of that.
Natquik’s Shine Episode, WITHOUT QUESTION, is The Red Fox. Honestly I feel like I don’t need to explain why, but I will because I like talking ✨: Natquik is my favourite Octo-Agent, but overall we haven’t actually gotten that many episodes dedicated to him yet. The Red Fox gives us a close and personal look into what Natquik is like by himself (I love episodes where characters are alone 👀), how he deals with problems (by ignoring them until they get worse—which is interesting... *stares at Barnacles*...), and even hints toward his family, by showing us his family portraits, and leaving us wondering, “Where are they?” – There are so many moments I love in this episode, from when he first discovers the kits, decides to help them stay warm, rushes to protect Barnacles, to his bittersweet goodbye at the end. It’s all so perfect.
Tracker absolutely shines in The Missing Lake. Honestly, he shines a LOT in Above and Beyond, considering he never got his own episode in the main series, and was only in Operation Deep Freeze for two scenes. AnB has been really good to Tracker, and I’m so grateful they decided to make him an Agent. The Missing Lake sticks out to me the most, because for the most part he is by himself (and I’ve already mentioned my love for that <3), and unlike all his other episodes, we get to really see him be responsible and use his Polar Scout skills in action. He’s often portrayed as a follower, who just goes along with whatever he's told to do, but he takes charge twice in this episode: when he offers to help Rowan, and when he stays behind to save Buck. Love that for him.
Calico Jack. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Calico Jack....... I could talk forever about this funky old cat man. He doesn’t just shine, he GLOWS in every episode he’s in—but alas, for the sake of this post I will be focusing on The Harlequin Duck. I love the showing of his gentle parental instincts in this episode, and his singing; since we know he canonically has a theme song, that I headcanon he wrote himself. I think far too much, and often, about how he legit panicked when he realized the egg was missing. How his first instinct was to hide that fact from Captain Barnacles. He was terrified, having a full blown panic attack on screen. He apologizes to the mother duck with such genuine solace, and promises to get it back “On [his] honour as a pirate!” ...Which is extremely significant to me, considering Kwazii was the first character to EVER say the phrase: “On me honour as an Octonaut!” in The Flying Fish after Inkling’s book was lost – and of course as a final touch, I adore seeing him work with Pete to get the egg back. The way he tosses the egg in the air, fully trusting that Pete will catch it... they’re so in sync, just as pirate and parrot are meant to be ;)
Paani... I feel like there’s so much more to him than what we’ve seen so far, it almost feels unfair to assign him a “Shine Episode”. So, instead of highlighting a single episode, I’ll quickly talk about three that stick out (PS: you might sense a theme 🤣):
The Barnacle Geese - Uncle Paani. I like the “I’ll be my own uncle” joke, and the Edgar Allen Poe reference. I think Paani’s determination to help the chick (who doesn’t seem to want help) is nice to watch, and helps to prove his worthiness as an Agent—which is always fun considering his hesitance when Barnacles tried to recruit him in S1E1. In a way, this episode also makes Paani seem more like Barnacles. See my old post analyzing the show’s intro. (*Stares at the episode title* 👁️👁️)
The Arabian Camels - Take a shot of cocoa every time I mention my love for episodes where characters are forced to be by themselves. This one is especially interesting to me though, because we know that Paani was alone, for a very long time, before he met the Octonauts. He has no trouble working and getting by alone, and we get to see him exhibiting that, while being out of his element (a dry desert) at the same time; and that’s really cool.
The Lonely Frog - ...Y’know how they constantly make the Octonauts/Agents meet creatures with similar issues to them? Yeah. *Stares at the episode title.* *Stares at the end scene where he says “Kinda like when I met you guys!” before obnoxiously jumping into the lake, in response to Shellington+Peso saying “They never even knew each other existed before! [...] and now it’s like they’ve known each other all their lives!”* *STARES MORE AT THE EPISODE TITLE,,* *wonders how long Paani was actually alone before becoming an Agent...*
Pinto, where art thou? He wasn’t in S2 at all, which was a bit disappointing since we just saw him get an Octowatch in S1. I would’ve expected him to be pressing that button every chance he got, giving us a “Penguin who cried Octoalert” episode. But anyway,, The Curious Penguin is the PERFECT episode for Pinto. It shows his personality really well, and I love how his distractions and the things he learns and discovers help him to save the day in the end. I think Pinto (just like Kwazii) is a good portrayal of ADHD, and how he just needs to be in the right environment to succeed. Each time Pinto messes up or loses focus, isn’t because he was left alone and couldn’t be trusted—it’s because he was left alone and understimulated. So when he’s thrown into a sudden high-stakes situation, all of his focus hones in on the moment, and he’s able to save Dashi and Paani by himself.
AND, because you didn’t say it had to be an Above and Beyond moment, I want to throw some love at The Oarfish episode from the main series. In this episode, Pinto no longer views Peso as “less” than an Octonaut, and is so excited to watch him do his job—it’s really cute!! His impulsivity is once again a positive thing—granted, it seems to annoy Peso a little, but when you think about it he kinda saved the day by being impulsive. He sounded the Octoalert without permission, which let the captain know to come back before their radio signal cut out, and by being unafraid of the “monster” and swimming outside, he was able to discover what the problem was so that Peso could help. He did good.
Pearl.... I love Pearl a lot, but I can’t think of one specific episode that comes to mind for her. I love The Pupfish because it introduces Peri to AnB, and I love how he teaches her how to tie a knot, so she can save the algae (and Glen). I like The Bison episode because it’s interesting watching her not doing something with algae for once, and The Pink Glacier because her and Kwazii’s dynamic was something I didn’t know I needed, but now I want more of (/p).
Ryla. Possibly controversial opinion: I liked Ryla in The Caves of Sac Actun, more than I like her now in Above and Beyond. I know she’s only gotten 3 episodes so far, but she’s really missing something. Sac Actun gave us lore on her right off the bat: she’s old friends with Dashi, she’s a skilled cave explorer, she’s spunky, she’s purple. AnB hasn’t given us much yet. So far her only shtick is caves, and that’s getting a bit repetitive. Consider every moment she has in Sac Actun as her “Shining Moment”, because honestly that whole movie is a 10/10.
Koshi,,,, she hasn't gotten that much yet, but I'm gonna say The Longfin Eels is her Shine Episode. I like the way she narrates the whole episode, because it's very in-character. Plus we know she’s literally writing about this adventure in her diary as she's telling it, as if it were a mystery book. She reminds me of narrators from 1920s film noirs, and that’s cool. Also! Honorary mention of the scene when she gets her Octowatch: I loved that for her <3
Min is below the cut, because my answer for her includes some very heavy SEASON 5 SPOILERS, including SCREENSHOTS:
All of Min's appearances so far are dear to my heart. However, my favourite has to be her own introductory episode: The Giant Chinese Salamander.
The Rainforest Rescue is another amazing episode for Min—she’s a wonderful character on her own, of course—but I think we can all agree that she and Inkling are very adorable together (no matter how you interpret their relationship).
Tumblr media
When Above and Beyond aired on Netflix, there was a lot of confusion around Min, from the younger audience and other fans who hadn’t seen S5. The Giant Chinese Salamander introduces Min with a 20-minute special; showing her in high-stakes action with Kwazii, bonding with the Octonauts, being an all-around Cool Person™, and a flashback of how she met Inkling when they were younger.
Tumblr media
She saved his life. He was thrown far inland by a rough storm, and was trapped until she found him. I honestly headcanon that Min partially (if not outright) inspired Inkling to form the Octonauts, and this moment could have literally sealed the fate of EVERYTHING we know.
But! Until S5 comes out, that's all I've got to say~ 👋💝
#i wanted to include screenshots for everyone's answers but there wasn't enough room and this post is big enough as it is 😅#so instead y'all get an essay jdhdjdks <33#octonauts above and beyond#octo-agents#about time i start using that tag lol#octonauts#am i going to one day make a giant analysis on cj in anb?? honestly maybe. there's so much there to talk about- i'm obsessed with him lmao#but it prbly won't be for a while#also. a message from future me when s3 is out: ''the natquik and tracker episode is amazing and a huge shine moment for both of them <3''#/hj#fun fact i started writing this post in an openoffice document xD i was comparing all the eps to try to figure out the best ones#long post#all paani's eps are s2 eps bc i rly wasn't sure how i felt about him in s1. but s2 solidified my love for him <3#hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i think a barnacles and pinto episode would be really good. thats all#the curious penguin is also a good episode for teaching kids that it's okay and good to be curious and ask questions!! love that about it!#kwazii is peak adult adhd rep and pinto is peak child adhd rep. thank you for coming to my tedtalk. /srs#hhhhgggggnn i love the cats so much. if we ever get more baby kwazii content you'll never stop hearing about it from me#please enjoy this post. i worked Really Hard on it /gen 💞🥹#this post has been in my drafts for 50 years goodness gracious. take it away from me 🤣#bonus answer for paani: i really like the secret beneath the snow--#specifically the scene where he puts himself in front of gus to protect him from ''wolves''#like. yo. /pos#it felt like something barnacles would've done yk? and that's fun :))#i love min. i started writing this post before s5's english release got announced and i was talking about how i wanted anb#to give us more min and inkling content so we didn't have to wait 74363832 years to learn more about them xD#but now I'm SO EXCITEDDDD#. so excited for You Guys to watch S5#bc I've seen it already and have been living in a constant state of restraining myself from giving spoilers–#cough.#TAG LIMIT REACHED HDHDBSBSJWBSUDBSJSJDHSH

finished my dad the bounty hunter on netflix, really cute family drama story, also props to the lighting and modeling team show looked movie level
though there is maybe a big problem, not jewish so take with a grain of salt/correct me if im wrong, but yeah the main villain is pretty obviously based on those secret evil elite lizard people in a position of power secretly controlling parts of the world conspiracy which has antisemitic roots and origins, I know its an alien show but they do go out of their way to show us they wear fake human skin to unsettle the audience when every other aliens uses a hologram to disguise themselves, I don't think there's any indication the character is jewish coded in any other way, but if using that conspiracy in the series is a red flag for anyone than yeah its in there

Goth-Pod Ep 5: Gotham Troubles
Welcome Back! Listening to you send ins, Juda Boone talks about things by Gothamites, for Gothamites!
[goth-pod is a fictional in-universe podcast based on the DC comics universe. Juda Boone is an original fictional character, not based on any real person or known comic book character.]
Transcript under the cut
Hello everyone and welcome to Goth-Pods special trials and troubles episode! I’m an indie theater’s take on the ghost of Christmas Present- and your host, Juda Boone.
We're looking at your submitted trademark Gotham problems. So without my usual ramblings, lets get to business
For our first submission username Trekkle brought up a good debate: Subway vs Bus: The Subway is safer, since buses can get hit during rogue attacks, but if you're stuck underground there's a chance of a killer croc attack and also the birds ride the roof.
Fantastic points, Trekkle! Thank you for writing in. I don't know exactly what you mean by the birds riding the roof, though. Do you mean Robin? Because I have been on the tram while a fight was happening between Robin and The Penguin on top. Of course, I missed most of it because I had my headphones in. Noise cancellation has its pros and cons in Gotham.
There’s no set answer on this one, I don’t think. You kind of have to pay attention to what Rouges are active the way you pay attention to the weather. Cloudy with a 70% chance of a Riddler scheme? Maybe take the Buses, since they’re not connected to a maze-like system like  the subways are. But maybe it's sweater weather with a possible freeze-over because Victor Fries broke out two nights ago and is due for a showy return. Then an underground bunker with cushy seats doesn’t sound too bad.
From Clexx we have: I'm new to Gotham (full ride scholarship, thank you Mr. Wayne): Why does everyone hate Superman? I tried to get answers from a friend and they called Superman a Homewrecker. Is there an infidelity scandal around Superman I don’t know about??
Oh wow. First of all, congratulations on the scholarship! I'm assuming you're attending Gotham U? Just be sure you get a proper Rogue-proof gas mask. Yes there is a difference. It’ll probably be covered in your Orientation though, so onto the main question.
To the Homewrecker comment.. oh I didn’t think it’d come to this. Okay, there's this thing in Gotham. Clexx, have you ever heard of Bruceman? Ask your friend about it, they’ll probably love to explain more. Basically it is a Real-Person based Ship on Gotham’s two protectors, Bruce Wayne and Batman. One watching over the day, the other the night.
This is another Topic that might take all episodes to explain, so to keep it short: People see Superman and Batman’s relationship- professional, platonic, romantic, or however they define it- as a threat to Bruceman, the number one Gotham Ship. Godspeed if you get between our beloved prettyboy himbo and our odd night-stalking cryptid.
From Allison: My cousin is visiting and I want to show them why I stay in Gotham. Where can we go for 1) a low level rogue attack (for Bat sighting), and 2) where can we go for a Wayne sighting. (They think Dick Grayson is hotter then Brucie [eye-rolling emoji])
For the first one, I think any part of our public transport system will do, as we discussed before. The tricky part is knowing when it’s going to be low-level or if your cousin will be joining you in a shelter-in-place lockdown.
For a Wayne sighting, unfortunately it’s harder to say these days. Bruce Wayne has made several statements on how he’s spending less time at the company in order to focus on bonding with his new son, Jason. I hate to disappoint, but right now might not be the time for celebrity sight-seeing. Maybe take a day trip to Bludhaven! Your cousin might enjoy the chance to convince you instead.
Thank you all for writing in and for joining us on this special episode! If we didn’t get to your submission, head over to our socials to see if we replied there. I’m Juda, you’re listening to Goth-Pod
Until then, Newcomers, visiting cousins, locals on the bus, Stay safe, Gotham.

Hi Killy? How about #20 caffeine, dealer's choice for characters. Thank you!
Ooo, thank you for this one! 💙 I'm delighted at it being dealer's choice, as this got me to try my hand at writing my fave of faves: Rosie. I do hope I've got him down right! (Slight, slight spoilers for the most recent ep apply!)
caffeine
The base is somewhat beautiful when the sun’s still low. There’s a slight haze hanging just above the dewy grass, too thin to be a full-on fog but lending this early morning a particular enchantment all the same. Gold streaks flicker through the last vestiges of night. If she squints at the treeline hard enough, its greens will mingle with the twinges of red in the dawn. Like Christmas painted through a misty window.
It’ll be a while before Christmas comes, now, though the mornings aren’t getting any warmer.
Imogene puffs up her cheeks. Blows warm air between her hands, then rubs them together briskly. She’s forgotten her gloves again. Margaret’s not about to loan out her perfectly good set of spare gloves, either, if that glare from earlier is anything to go by. And Jeannie is nice and all, but the knitwork on her gloves is absolutely drenched in perfume. Imogene lets out a sigh. Contemplates the risks associated with running back to her bunk and praying her own gloves will be in the place where she put them last.
Truth is, she hasn’t got the time. Jeannie’s already taken off at a dead run for the bathroom for the second time in an hour, which has got Margaret fuming in a way that’ll at least make sure the sink’s going to be so spotless you could eat out of it. Imogene would be more worried about Jeannie if this wasn’t already the fourth time a girl like her was prone to retching her guts out in the morning and being just fine and dandy in the afternoon.
These girls, like some of the men, barely stay long enough to learn their names.
And then, of course, there are those few who seem to stay a lifetime.
“One for the road, Captain Rosenthal?”
His answering laugh is soft, but his joy somehow never fails to meet his eyes. “If you can spare me a cup, yes. Thank you.”
“It’ll be a little minute, sir, sorry.” Imogene shoots him the closest thing she’s got to an apologetic smile. “I hope you can wait that long to get your latest dose of caffeine. These new coffee makers are a bit slower on the uptake.”
Captain Rosenthal hums a little to himself. “I believe I can find the time for it this morning, Imogene.”
“Glad to hear it, sir. Congratulations on your twenty-fifth, by the way!” She’d meant to say that about five days ago, but the party had turned raucous and strange in equal measure before she’d had the chance. And the men had been pretty tightly knit around him, at least before the mood had taken another tailspin downward. “When are you due to go home? Is it a ways away yet?”
He shifts his weight from foot to foot the way he always seems to do when contemplating something important. His gaze fixes on the horizon. Well past the planes on their hardstands, beyond the line of trees and buildings. Like there’s something in the early morning sky only he can see.
Imogene waits him out the way she always does. There is no hurrying Robert Rosenthal, not when he is pondering something important before his first coffee of the day. He might have something interesting to say once the idea lands and takes root inside him. Last time, he had made a small comment about bird migratory patterns that had somehow evolved into a conversation about penguins at the zoo. The time before that, he had asked her something about hairpins – not a topic for a man, or so Margaret had scoffed after – before he’d leaned forward ever so slightly and told her some of his men might have gotten their hands on a second helping of chocolate through the cunning use of hairpins. (DeBlasio, if she had to name one. It’s always the goddamn Italians getting into trouble on this base.)
“I’m not too certain Florida will agree with me.” His smile is almost remorseful, as if he has contemplated the idea and found himself to be rather like a fish out of water. “I’d miss this weather. Gruesome chill in the air this morning.” He shudders just a little, more to himself than to her. “And I have to say, Imogene, I’d be hard-pressed to find better coffee than this.”
“Now you’re just flattering me, sir,” she laughs, grabbing a pristine white cup for him. “We do what we can, but the stateside coffee just tastes better if you ask me. I dream about it sometimes.”
“The perfect cup of coffee? Bit of milk, two sugars. Little bit of foam on top, perhaps.” There’s a twinkle in his bright eyes as he steps closer, keenly awaiting his morning shot of caffeine. “What is your poison of coffee choice in this world, if you don’t mind me asking?”
Imogene hums to herself. “Bit of milk, bit of caramel, sir.” She almost wishes she had enough time to foam the milk up a little, give it a bit of a whisk before stirring it into his cup. “The sugar’s too cloggy. Caramel syrup works just as well to sweeten it.”
“I take it there is no secret stash of caramel syrup on base here?”
“You”– she gestures with the little spoon –“would be correct, Captain. Perhaps you can sneak me some, once you’re back home?”
The shadow that passes over his face is gone as swiftly as it came, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t see it. Imogene sucks in a rather noisy breath. Feels a chill swoop down and back up her spine in a way that’s got very, very little to do with the morning cold of early March. He glances back at the horizon a moment. Wistful, her mind supplies. Then: yearning.
She’s seen it before. In Major Cleven and Captain Rivers, every time they were kept on the ground too long. In Major Egan, once Major Cleven had vanished and left a hole in the fabric of reality itself. In Stella Lombardi, whose eyes never quite seem to meet the ground anymore, and in Two, who might just survive them all. There’s something in the set of their shoulders. Something in their eyes, once you know where to look.
Imogene looks. Sees. “You’re not going home.”
Blue eyes, brighter than any morning, meet her gaze. “Not just yet.” His confession hangs in the air between them a moment. She fills up the space with a mostly full cup of coffee, milk and sugars already stirred in, and is proud when her hand does not tremble. “We have work to do here, don’t we, Imogene?” His bare hand brushes her own before he lifts the cup in clear gratitude. “Thank you for the coffee, as always.”
She takes a deep breath. Steadies herself on the counter, just out of his keen gaze’s reach. “You’re very welcome, sir. Same time tomorrow, then?”
A laugh startles out of him, bright and beaming and so alive that she wants to cry. “Same time as always, ma’am.”

TEASER BELOW THE CUT (APPROX. 800 WORDS)
Tumblr media
"How do you know Ln Yn?"
Beomgyu whirled around just as Soobin settled into the desk chair, waiting. Beomgyu made a scoffing noise, eyebrows flying up to his shaggy bangs. "Where did that come from?"
Soobin shrugged. "You tell me." He slurped up a bit more milk from his cereal before adding, "You're the one who reacted like that in front of everyone when she said she was grieving her mother's death. You sounded shocked that she died."
"Well yeah, wouldn't you be shocked to hear someone else died within the past three days?"
"Stop trying to bullshit him, Gyu."
Both the brothers looked up at the voice who had just entered the underground space. Yeonjun strolled into the main area in a white tank top and sweats, hair sticking up in different places. He stretched his arms above his head and yawned loud and wide.
Soobin cocked a brow at him. "Nice of you to finally join us, hyung. How'd the 'date' go?"
"Great," Yeonjun quipped. "We're going on a second one soon. I think Felix almost sent me off with a kiss goodnight." He slumped onto the edge of the desk, eyes lazily taking in the images and information displayed on the many monitor screens. "This is our stiff, huh?"
Soobin sent him a look that distinctly read 'No, we're just looking at dead bodies for fun.'
"Yeah," Beomgyu replied. "The note the killer left is so familiar to me though. Have you seen it before?" He knocked his knuckles against the monitor with the note.
Yeonjun's eyes narrowed on the screen, before he leaned back with that bored look renewed on his face. "You're both idiots. It's from that one killing a couple weeks ago."
Beomgyu and Soobin traded looks. "What?"
Their eldest brother leaned down to reach the lowest drawer at the desk. From its depths, he fished out a large bag of chips and grabbed a handful to stuff his face with. "Y'know," he garbled and gestured vaguely with his crumb-dusted fingers. "Beomgyu, you know! You were there with me. It was that one lawyer guy who was found dead in his car beneath the bridge. That same note was taped to his windshield."
"Oh yeah," Beomgyu drawled, while Soobin shook his head with a sigh. The former then knocked his foot against the latter's shin. "Aye! You didn't even know it."
"Yeah, because I wasn't on that case," Soobin fired back. He finished off the rest of his bowl of cereal and set the empty ceramic in his lap before crossing his arms over his chest. His eyes, like his brothers', were lined beneath with heavy eye bags. Someone was supposed to be on patrol around the city right now, but neither of the three brothers were in any rush to get up. "So it's just one person going after these people then."
Yeonjun chewed his bottom lip. "Then we just gotta find the connection."
"Was the lawyer guy from a couple weeks ago Lee Sungjae's attorney?" Soobin asked.
Beomgyu grabbed a hold of the wireless keyboard on the desk and braced it upon his thighs. He pulled up an internet browser and typed in their inquiry. All three brothers made noises of disgruntlement; if the lawyer hadn't been Sungjae's attorney, then how were they connected? It was no secret that 99.9 percent of the population here in Gotham had some sort of shadow looming over their shoulder. It was almost impossible to get anywhere without the help of a corrupt figure, whether that be a mob boss like the Penguin or a loan shark with special strategies to get someone to pay up.
Either way, there would be lots of digging required.
"Let's start with Lee Sungjae and the lawyer's records,'' Soobin decided as he sat up in the chair. "We'll sort through phone records, acquire security footage of their movements, their texts, etcetera."
"I call none of those," Yeonjun said. When his younger brothers scowled at him, he raised both hands in feigned surrender with a giggle. "Fine, fine. You're both lookin' at me like I murdered your favorite puppy."
They remained silent.
"What, too soon?"
The basement headquarters suddenly erupted in a dull siren sound, and Beomgyu was swift to pull up a set of footage on one of the monitors. It displayed a section of the sky, a white spotlight circle cast against a massive, dark gray cumulus cloud with a distinct bat shape in the center—their call to action.
All three men were on their feet in an instant—keyboard and cereal bowl abandoned on the table, capes and utility belts clicked into place.
"Meet you losers there!" Yeonjun hollered as the cave filled with the revving roar of his motorcycle engine like a clap of thunder.
Soobin and Beomgyu hurried over to their respective cycles. "Hey, we're not done talking about Yn!" Soobin called to his younger brother.
Beomgyu flashed him a thin smile. "That's what you think!" And he sped away down the runway.
Soobin chuckled to himself, grinning. Then he revved his engine and launched himself after his brothers.

So I know you said you just started Batman Telltale so feel free to do this whenever you feel ready or most informed lol but I'm glad to see you're enjoying Ozzie, he's definitely different for sure and I saw you wanted requests of him sooo...
Maybe some headcanons on how he would treat a super loyal ride or die partner/sidekick? It can be purely platonic or romantic that's up to you. But I have a feeling he's got a thing for loyalty as long as it's to him anyway lol.
Thanks again! Take your time, have fun, and stay hydrated 💚
🌹Telltale Penguin with ride or die s/o hcs!🌹
Tumblr media
AAA ty! You're a big inspiration and I love your writing. This was very fun to write! I got a good feel for his character from my playthrough of the first 2 eapiodes and half of the 3rd- along with clips and things I've read before I ever got the game. However, it still could be ooc, sorry if it is!

Warnings: spoilers for the batman telltale series season 1 eps 1-4
-----------------------------------------------------
●you're a loyal ride and die? Well you're in luck cause so is he!
●it'll most likely turn into a childish competition of who can somehow prove they're more ride or die. Both of you trying to out-do each other in displays of affection, gifts, and helping each other out.
●obviously he's going to try and get you to join the children of arkham if you somehow aren't already in it.
●he'll even give you your own little outfit and mask if you decide to tag along and commit crimes with him! You two are essentially attached to the hip as a dou. Your safety is his priority, and vice versa. If one of you goes down, so does the other!
●Once he takes over Wayne enterpirises.. he's immediately inviting you to the building to root through Bruce's office with him! He'll also try to get you a position at the company with him.. while he still has control of it that is..

Did not write a Puppet History list in a while so here it is! :D
The reflection on the Professor's glasses still makes it look like he has glitter eyebrows. Love that.
Sara! (and Sara's cool boots!)
love the little detail of the Professor's eyeballs freezing
"Tf is this??" lol
I want to go down into the ocean though! So many cool creatures! It's really fascinating! :3
Dorothy Ruth! I really hope she will save Stanley and all the other puppets next season! (also love her little scarf. really fashionable.)
Sara's anxiety remedy is so cute
"I can't feel my fucking fingers. Let's write about it."
big fan of all the little pics of ships and maps <3
Kind of love that Amundsen appreciates the place and the landscape and writes about it poetically while Scott just has the worst time.
The bird sound effect every time Scott's middle name is mentioned - chef's kiss
the little doggos in the animation!!! adorable
Ryan clearing his throat and the Professor immediately imitating him xD
solo C-Dog!
"Welcome to Ross Island. 'You'll likely die here!'" Especially love the cheerful penguin next to it.
"their ship frozen in ice" - the entire ship in a block of ice lmao
The Prof all bundled up is so cute!
Round of applause for Osman! (the dog who got swept overboard and then back on board again. real hero of the story)
God the animations in this ep are so good
"Fuck" - Robert Scott's journal entry
"Bitch died?!" Lmao I love Sara
The song fucking SLAPS. My favorite song this season. (Also adore the sound of the wind howling over the empty plane in the end. It is so atmospheric and somehow moving.)
I want to know where the spoken parts in the song come from.
"This is usually the point where a false sense of security gives way to some shocking turn of events." *crickets*
Congrats to Sara!
Always enjoy seeing Hughie Stone Fish in the credits!
I rewatched the episode twice already. A really good season finale! <3

Hoping we can big brain this as a collective tag, because I have no answers. But it was this post by @paladin-n-cleric and @jazz-penguin that got me thinking about maybe it wasn't 12 year old Will communicating with Joyce through the lights. If they're going to be bringing some elements of time travel into S5 (speculation at this point), maybe it would be S5 Will (or Mike and Will) who use the lights to communicate. All this is in the linked post above.
However, what's been puzzling me since I learned the Upside Down was stuck on the day Will disappears is how did he use those lights to communicate with his mom?
When the older teens use the Lite-Brite thing to communicate from the Upside Down, the machine itself didn't actually appear there. It was only in the real world. Dustin had to tell them where he was putting it and not move it so they knew where to draw the letters.
So how was Will able to point out specific letters in S1. If it's following the same logic, he shouldn't have been able to see the christmas lights, NOR the letters Joyce wrote on the wall if the Upside Down was stuck. Because Joyce didn't write the letters until Ep 3 (which I assume was at least one or two days later from when Will went missing?) In fact, I just remembered that it did show the Byers house in the Upside down in S1E8 when Hopper and Joyce went into the UD to rescue Will. And I wasn't able to see any Christmas lights in the UD at all. Only in the real world scene with Jonathan, Steve, and Nancy.
So...thoughts, my big brained besties?

i was tagged by @veiledinviolet to talk about the books i've been reading. tysm for the tag!!
last read: it's been a while but I belieeeeve it was I'm Glad my Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy. it was not quite what i expected - less about her relationship with her mom than it is about her general experience being a child star, although those aren't the most separable of things in her case anyway. the reviews on the cover really emphasized how funny it was, which i uh. did not really pick up on tbh. i'm still glad i read it though. the writing did lack some stylization, which could be either because Jennette might not have had much experience writing long prose, or as some kind of emotional shield considering the subject matter. i lent my copy to somebody shortly after i finished it and they pointed out that despite being in first person, Jennette actually doesn't dwell on her emotions or internal monologue that much and mostly just describes the things that were physically happening. apparently she got a two book deal with penguin, i'm curious to see what else she writes.
currently reading: Carrie by Stephen King. admittedly i'm not a big reader and only really braved starting this one because i love the movie so much, but man has it been worth it. the movie is peanuts compared to this. it's insane how much was cut for the adaptation. there's an entire extra psychic incident that i had no idea existed. carrie is fat, acne-ridden, smells like sweat all the time, and this is actually pretty important to her character no matter how many skinny actresses get cast to play her. the shower scene - which i generally consider the worst part of the movie - plays out completely different originally. the way her inner dialogue is written nails that kind of pattern-of-speech i would expect from someone raised entirely on religious texts. it's also an interesting touch how often her behavior or appearance is described in comparison to livestock animals. not even just because she feels ugly, but also in a sort of awaiting-slaughter kind of way. she knows her use in this world is to be used by others for their satisfaction alone. if i ever get to live out my fantasy of directorial accomplishment, i absolutely want to make my own adaptation.
next up: Manhunt by Gretchen Felker-Martin. i already got about halfway through this one before shifting gears to carrie, and i absolutely adore everything i've read so far. i can't wait to finish it. such a wonderful example of what i love about horror, what it can say and do!
i tag @aliceinmadnessland, @highlifeboat, @evanescence-ep, and @thatdykepunkslut

Netflix Avatar: the Last Airbender review
So, I just got around to watching ep 1 and I wanted to share my thoughts. I'll probably do this after each episode, but I am slow at watching things so this might take a while.
To make this more fair, I'll review the show as a seperate show and then review it as an avatar fan.
Maybe minor spoilers ahead so be aware!
As an individual show:
The context was repeated many times in different ways - it was a bit overkill but as "a new viewer" it makes the situation very clear
the genocide was such an emotional scene and very well done, but a little "convenient" (Aang leaving to clear his head at the perfect time and all the airbenders being in one location at the same moment that the fire nation arrives)
the characters seem cool maybe? Don't know much about them ~ yet
The bending looks epic
Overall a good and entertaining introduction episode, interested to see where this goes.
As an avatar fan
the intro sequence being done by Kyoshi is an interesting choice. I love Kyoshi as a character, but what is her relevance to Aang's story. If they wanted to do an avatar wouldn't Roku make more sense? Also the narration no longer being Katara reflects the changes of how important her role is to the story (will talk about more later)
No major complaints about the scenes at the air temple found the whole a great addition to the story.
Ok let's address Aang's flying. So first we can all agree that it goes against LOK lore. However, the other thing that bothers me is it is not clear when he needs a glider and when he doesn't. If he could fly why does he need a glider at all?
Now for the water tribe siblings! Let's start with Sokka. Some of his jokes were good some were meh... He is just kind of a jerk ~ which obviously is also the case in the animation ~ so I guess it depends on how the other episodes explore his character and develop his arc
Now for my poor girl Katara. They fail to show her complex character. We don't get any Katara sass or anger. All we get is caring Katara. There is not this duality that we usually see with her. She was also robbed of narrator and basically main or second main character to the show. The animation sets her up as the driving force of the show, now she's just kind of there. ~ Also I wanted to address everyone complaining about Katara's actress being the weakest. So first of all please don't send hate to Kiawentiio (I saw really awful comments under her instgram post which is really no ok) - I'm not saying your not allowed to think this, but maybe don't spam it under her posts. Next, I personally haven't had an issue with her acting so far, if anything the writing probably needs to be improved. And for anyone who says she can't show emotions go watch Anne with an E to see that she can act and the issues in the LA might be with directing (maybe I'm just biased because I love that show)
Aang is ok... his fear of responsibly shows but his goofiness is absent.
Now I am not the biggest Zuko stan ( don't get me wrong his character and arc is so well done in the animation he is just not my favourite), but I feel like he is the one character that I enjoy and have no complaints about so far in the LA
There’s something off with Iroh can’t really put it into words, but he just doesn’t have the same effect with the lines he delivers (this is only the first episode so I’ll have to see if it gets better)
Now, since I am largely a kataang blog ~ yes I am disappointed with the lack of penguin sledding but more in a sense that it removes Aang’s goofy behaviour. Then again, this isn't that big of a deal. Also I enjoyed the change of gyasto helping Aang out of the avatar state (it gives a different vibe but I’m not against it).
Overall, it is 100x better than the movie. Is it perfect? Not at all. So far,I think the main problem is that they tell instead of show. If you are able to detach it from the original (which is hard for me as you can probably tell from the review) and not think about what's missing it can be really enjoyable.
These are just my opinions. If you don't agree no need to hate or argue✨✨ (I hope this isn't an issue since it is not on Twitter)

Live Action: Thoughts and Etc. Episode 1
Whenever some new AtLA surge happens, whether animation renaissance or new series, I rise again from the grave and this time is no different.
This isn't anything formal, but I wanted to collect my thoughts as I go through rewatching episodes. I'm still not done with an initial watching of the new live action, but I've started rewatching the first couple of episodes anyway to note down what I liked about what the new series is doing and also where I think the narrative could have been stronger.
I don't mean this as a critique of the show on any other level other than on a narrative level—I'm not a film or visual studies person; my forte is in storytelling.
I also didn't want my reactions to just be seeming criticism, because there is a lot that I really like about the show (especially as I get deeper in episodes), so just consider this an initial reaction & thoughts on what could have been improved upon. So far, the first two episodes have been the weakest to me, which is really unfortunate because I worry a lot of people won't get beyond them. I know my opinion and thoughts don't matter because a) I'm not part of any kind of decision-making group that could actively affect this and b) it's already done with and out and it's not going to be changed, but we all love meta and thoughts around here, right? Right.
The format of these I'm imagining as follows: I'll go over what I liked or loved first, because there's more and more as episodes go on, and you should always, always start with what you appreciate and enjoyed about a work first before going into what might be improved upon. Next, I'll go into where I felt the narrative could have been improved upon, just from what I know with my Literature™ and in-progress MFA™ eyeballs. Finally, if applicable, what I personally didn't care for that doesn't actually impact the narrative one way or another. This final section will be potentially be under a cut if the post is too long. Everything will be noted as I do my second watch of the series, and will be in chronological order. I don't know that I'll have time to do proper paragraphs, so I hope a list format will be acceptable to anyone who's made it this far and remains interested in my thoughts.
Of course, this will contain spoilers for each episode, and all posts will be tagged "atla la ep#" and "atla la ep# spoilers" (where the # in each tag will be the corresponding episode number) so folks can blacklist as needed.
Now, on to the main event—
What I liked:
-The settings are lush and gorgeous! Holy moly! -The costumes are phenomenal so far. Absolutely fantastic. -Even if some of the actors are a little stiff, I am loving all of them. -Loved the airbenders fighting back. No notes. -The dialogue between Iroh and Aang in the brig is actually perfectly nuanced. I really like it. -REALLY love Aang pilfering Zuko's Avatar journal -Also love Katara being the one to extinguish Zuko's final fire blast with her waterbending. Setting up that good rivalry between them in s1. -I like the expansion of the SWT village and Katara being in the old FN ship in lieu of the otter penguin sledding scene -Love Zuko being an artist. I like to think it's a nice, early nod to learning under Piandao
What Could be Improved Narratively:
-Stop the Sozin scene right after he burns the earthbender -When Gyatso has Aang in the room with Yangchen's statue, the exchange should have stopped with: "You have always been special." "I never asked to be special." "But you are," and the writing should have allowed Aang to put together that he is the Avatar without explicitly saying "Aang, you are the Avatar." If they took that line out and let the silence hang and then taken out all explicit statements of "You are the Avatar," so they would have been talking around actually saying it, it would have improved the scene. -Remove Aang's little monologue with Appa before the fly off except for maybe hugging Appa and saying, "I'm scared" -Show Aang and Appa getting caught in the storm. There's a very small missing piece of that scene. -Could pare down the exposition in Zuko & Iroh's argument about following the light to not explicitly say "and take my rightful place as heir," as Iroh saying "it may be time to consider the throne isn't everything," and Zuko replying, "Maybe it wasn't to you" does that work. BUT I actually don't think this is as clunky as other dialogue-exposition parts. -Either excise Aang's flashbacks to saving himself with the Avatar state before he wakes or remove it from earlier in the episode; we don't need it twice. -the WT kids running outside of the village to play is awkward. Why wouldn't they play inside the walls? If it's so Appa wouldn't land inside the village, this is easily solved by having Aang airbend over the walls when searching for Appa. -I know Kanna's monologue about the FN attacking is an homage to the original, but it feels hamhanded. I would excise it. Remove everything she says in this scene in the tribe meeting except, "The last time a comet was seen was 100 years ago." -Honestly, excise most of Kanna's dialogue. It's all hamhanded exposition; we're seeing the "hand of the author(s)" here. When Zuko's ship arrives all she has to say is, "They're looking for him." Let the reveal be Katara saying it to Sokka when he's going to give Aang up. -Replace the repeated scenes with Gyatso when Aang discovers his skeleton with other memories. We don't need a rehash of something in the same episode.
What I Personally Did Not Care For:
-I want bigger fire from the firebenders. It's a comet that powers them up ffs. -Katara needs to express a great desire to learn waterbending in this episode somewhere -Sokka and Katara being caught in a current should have been from Katara's angry paddling to echo her angry waterbending from the original -I also wouldn't reveal Kya's death in flashback flashes so early -When Zuko sees Aang for the first time it's a perfectly missed opportunity for "You're just a kid!" "Yeah, well you're just a teenager!" -Unsure why Katara said, "The thing about losing everything is that's when you find out how strong you are" instead of something like, "I can't imagine how this must feel. But you don't have to be alone. We're here with you."

Innocent Questions - Spy x Family fic
Can't believe all it took to write this was Twilight choking on a cigarette and I'm running to my computer. Damn. XD
Set during Ep. 12, a sort of add on to what could've also happened in the episode for funsies. I wish we had a bit more bonding moments between Yor and Loid, but there's still fanfiction! :3
Hope you enjoy!
The spy eyed the half-finished cigarette in the other man’s hand. “You quit smoking?” the spy arched an eyebrow under his hat, gaze zeroing in on the unfinished cigarette falling into the trash bin.
Twilight coughed as if on cue, clearing his throat. “Well, I have a child now.”
Those words seemed odd, especially coming from one of the greatest spies of their generation. Was this an advanced spy technique he hadn’t heard about?
Perhaps Handler would know about this technique?
“Hm, I see.” He watched Twilight disappear in the sea of people, blending perfectly well into the crowd despite his imposing presence.
Well, he had his own missions to report to WISE, better to get moving.
Once he had reached headquarters, the situation with Twilight wouldn’t leave the spy’s mind. “Hey, Handler.”
Sylvia hummed in acknowledgement, her gaze not leaving the map of the knock locations of Ostania’s corrupt politicians.
“Did…have you heard of an advanced technique about changing your habits to blend in with your cover story?”
“Of course, those are the basics of any covert operation.”
“Even quitting smoking?”
Handler looked up from the map to look at the agent. “…That would require quite the dedication.” She seemed to consider the thoughts formulating in her mind, finally giving them a voice in the form of a question. “Any particular reason you ask, agent?”
The agent jumped, suddenly feeling all too nervous under Handler’s strict gaze. “N-No reason!” he immediately went back to work.
Sylvia frowned. ‘Seems like this agent recently encountered someone so dedicated to their work. Wasn’t Twilight the last person this spy met for debrief?’ she made a mental run up of the list of spies deployed that morning, Twilight’s and this agent’s names being on that list. ‘Hm, indeed, it takes a very dedicated spy.’
“Loid?” at Yor’s call, Loid glanced up from his book. “Have you ever smoked before?”
The question caught Loid off guard, especially considering today’s events with the other agent, but he kept a cool façade when answering. “I used to. Why?”
Yor peeled and cut apples for two bowls, one for Anya and one for her and Loid to share. “Hmm, my co-workers smoke a lot, I was just curious.”
Loid set his book aside, his attention now fully on Yor as he got up to stand before the kitchen counter. “You never smoked before Yor?”
He smiled when he realized she cut the apple slices into bunny shapes for them as well not just for Anya. ‘Cute.’ thought Twilight in passing.
“I tried it once when I was still a teenager, but never continued because of Yuri. And it didn’t really suit my tastes.” She smiled in embarrassment, taking another apple to cut. “I remember I used to be ridiculed for not smoking or holding my liquor well, but that didn’t really bother me. I was always so worried what would happen to Yuri if I suddenly died due to smoking too much or excessive drinking.” Yor giggled, as if something in that statement was considered to be funny. ‘Not that I couldn’t have died every day while I was still a rookie assassin…’
Loid’s eye twitched. “Right…” he glanced at Anya’s penguin plushie situated on the couch, wearing his black sunglasses Anya stole from his jacket pocket when Loid wasn’t watching. ‘Penguinman’ she had called the plushie. “I stopped once Anya was born…not that I had smoked much before, it was more so societal customs on my part, not because I truly enjoyed it either.”
Yor nodded, listening attentively when she finished cutting the apples. “I see.” Another thought suddenly popped into her mind. “Loid, have you ever forgotten your house keys before?”
Loid blinked, truly caught off guard by the innocent question and he chuckled. “What’s with all the questions today, Yor?” his expression spoke of amusement when he rested his chin on his palm to watch Yor wash the knife and cutting board.
She chuckled as well. “Well, I just noticed I haven’t really asked you anything since entering into this agreement. A wife ought to know her husband well, right?”
Her question and curiosity were well founded and justified, so why did Twilight’s heart pick up speed and his ears burn hot?
He cleared his throat, rubbing the back of his neck. “Mhmm..you’re right. And I did, a few times when I was younger. Franky likes to remind me of that often.” He grabbed an apple slice and popped it into his mouth, chewing before posing a question. “Has Yuri ever pranked you when you were young?”
Loid listened with interest while Yor recounted memories of her childhood, embarrassing moments where Yor fell prey to Yuri’s mischievous shenanigans, but which all sounded adorable in Twilight’s mind.
It was when Anya joined the fray and they all ate the apple slices in the living room that things started getting interesting. “Mama, have you ever killed someone?”
“Anya, we don’t ask these questions.”
