What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?

I... do not have one? Honestly, I'm not a writer-writer, so I don't really relate to all those writing things and memes ×) Anyway, I'll take this question as "how do you write?" and the reply to it: I write literally everywhere. Home, school, metro. I swear if I could look at the different directions at the same time, I would write as I walk as well. I don't have a specific time of a day for writing and I don't prepare anything special for it. I just lie on my bed and write whenever I want.

Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?

Ugh, I really have no idea how I get inspiration. Most of the ideas I have came up absolutely spontaneously. For me, the most difficult part is to come up with a general concept, so maybe this is the reason why it's easier for me to write multi-chalters fics (okay, I have just one, but working on it is way easier than coming up with ideas for one shots). I don't really need to create anything new, I just develop what I already have, and even in that case my ideas come up as I write. You can't imagine how many plot holes I solved by keeping writing, instead of just staring at the screen and directly thinking of how to change it. So, apparently, my inspiration is writing itself? I know this is extremely dumb, but really, I don't base my ideas on the other shows/movies/books and I don't re-watch EoA endlessly. I just write what I want to write.

And when I have no inspiration, I just keep writing. This is extremely ugly, unreadable, unpolished, and shameful for showing to anyone, but I keep writing with a thought I can always edit what I wrote and add more details. But honestly, it works just for my Gabe fic, because, yes, I'm narcissistic. I love this story and want to see what happens next myself. Really, you can't imagine how long I kept the last scene from the tenth chapter in my head. All those lines going through Valerio's mind, him realizing the truth is out, a subtle revelation of him being married. I longed to write it. I had to write a plenty of stuff going before this scene and I'll admit not everything was going smoothly, but the fact there will be a scene I have a clear picture of soon was a very strong motivation for me. I have a lot of scenes like this in my mind for the future chapters, so I'll keep writing until I fulfill them all with both up and downs.

👑 - Favorite character?

(I've already answered with my favourite human before so...) My favourite jaquin character is Luna. She's sassy, she's clever, and she has some of the best lines. Her song absolutely rocks. Her arc, though not the biggest one in the show, was enjoyable. Plus her colours and design work really well, you don't normally see pink and orange together if they're not accompanied by other colours, but she really pulled it off. 

🌼 - Favorite episode?

For this one I'm going to go with “The Sceptre Of Night.” I haven't really been keeping track but it's probably the episode I’ve re-watched the most. It's always great to see a team Avalor adventure episode! They were all particularly good in this one, and we got all four main jaquins as well. Mateo’s song is just amazing, one of the best songs in the series. The humour in it is fantastic, all of Fiero and Victor's interactions are just perfection. (Plus I could personally relate to how Victor snuck up on Fiero. I used to do that all the time to my friends, until I realized that I needed to stop that or else I wouldn't have any friends). And I love how the episode showed it's lesson not only with Mateo, but with Victor as well. Both of them were so caught up in trying to find the Sceptre first, more for their own personal reasons than the good of the group’s, that they stepped on the rest of the group's toes and caused major issues. So that was an interesting parallel. Overall a solid episode and my favorite one in that arc.

Favorite thing about them: She's one of the most well-rounded characters I've ever seen. She's strong, but is also allowed to be weak. She helps people, but also lets people help her when she needs it. She's kind and caring, but is also allowed to be angry and not take shit. There's just a nice balance of everything.

Least favorite thing about them: I honestly can't think of anything, because all her bad traits make me love her more as a well-rounded character.

Favorite line: "I don't need to be one of the kings. I'm going to be queen!"

Random headcanon: She's autistic/ADHD.

Unpopular opinion: She's a hardcore lesbian (cosidering the fan fave ship in this fandom, that seems like a pretty unpopular opinion to me). Every time I see Elena interact with girls, I just gets the gayest vibe from her. Nowhere near the same vibe I get when I see her interact with guys.

Song I associate with them: It's partly because of an EOA fanvid, but Stand In The Rain really does fit her.

Favorite picture of them: I'm so happy we got one more render pose before the show ended.

Gabe

Favorite thing about them: How honorable and trustworthy he is. He's someone you can always count on. I also like how he started out kinda over-protective, but grows throughout the series and learns to trust other people's strengths as well.

Least favorite thing about them: That he never got his own outfit (I swear, his entire wardrobe is just different kind of uniforms). Show us Gabe's secret fashion sense, Disney.

Favorite line: (Kinda a random quote, but I still like it) "When I tried to play like you, I was terrible. I only got better when I started playing like a royal guard."

Honestly Coronation Day, just because of how it wrapped up everyone arcs so satisfyingly. I could talk about pretty much every scene in it for hours. Not counting specials, it’s a tie between Jewel of Maru and Dreamcatcher. Jewel of Maru was the first big taste of plot continuity with a healthy dose of action, character development, and worldbuilding, while Dreamcatcher was... everything it was, in a pretty incredible way.

💃🏽 - How did you find out about EOA: I watched STF on and off, but I think I learned about EOA when they constantly showed the "My Time" promo on TV? After that, I remember searching up the show for any Tumblr fans, but this was long before the EOA fandom became as it is now so there was mostly nothing other than bad faith discourse ("It's a ripoff of The Book of Life, go watch that instead", EOA is disingenuous LatAm representation, and so on...) and that sort of turned me away... then I eventually watched Elena and the Secret of Avalor and "Realm of the Jaquins" because there was nothing else on TV, and someone on my dashboard was an EOA fan and was talking about how the show does have a plot, and someone made a meme joke about STF starting out as a kids' show and then being about helping stage a political revolution three years later, so I got hooked in like, Winter 2017 or Spring 2018? I needed an ongoing show to be my new main fixation because Star Wars Rebels was ending at the time and EOA at the time looked less... stressful.

❤️ - Favorite ships?: I've tried not to prefer Elena over anyone because I prefer ace!Elena, but now that the show is over and they did... THAT in the finale, I'm a lot more partial to Elenaomi. I also like Gabe/Carla (knight/rogue shipping admittedly is sorta my jam), Ixlan/Antonia (mainly because of the finale lol), and Esteban/Chatana (man loves girlboss wife, though I shipped this more when we were speculating about Chatana joining Team Ash since they don't really interact enough in canon!! But Christian Lanz liked my Chateban fanart so lol, it still has a spot here).

⚔️ - Unpopular opinion?: I think liking EOA in itself is an unpopular opinion lol? I don't think I have one inside the fandom, I just think that EOA's public perception got kneecapped by the bad faith discourse early on (and there's still ongoing discourse that is also equally terrible, like the anti-cartoon "We need a Latine Disney Princess MOVIE, not a show" opinion from casual Disney fans, "Elena is Spanish, not Latina" from I guess people who don't watch the show either) and the cartoon fanbase would've eaten EOA up if it weren't for that and bad marketing. I'll admit to being a bit envious and suspicious of the Tangled: The Series fanbase since I would argue EOA is just as emotional and OC-friendly as its sister show, and I'm a little annoyed that there haven't been more fans carried over from She-Ra because, you know, Aimee Carrero as a warrior princess again and she sings... EOA is great kids' show, there's great animation, voice acting, humor, heart, it deserves so much better.

⚔️ - unpopular opinion?

Don’t know how unpopular this is, but I was kind of disappointed by some parts of Coronation Day. Particularly Esteban’s deal with the Shades. I know it was necessary to the plot for the Shades to try to take over Avalor, but I think Esteban should have asked them for his family’s forgiveness/to undo all the damage he caused. I never felt that his goal was ever to rule Avalor by himself, just to be heard by his family. I also think it was naive of him to believe the Shades after his failed deal with Shuriki. (Not to mention that this is at least the third evil magic lady he is blindly trusting.) And after all the pain he caused Elena and her family & friends by joining Ash, I would think that his greatest wish was to fix the mess he created. I don’t even think the Shades needed Esteban for their plan anyway — it would have been nice to have seen him rebelling against Ash and the Shades throughout the episode instead. I would have also liked to see more reconciliation and honest conversation between Luisa and Esteban where they come to terms with the fact that Esteban felt ignored compared to Elena.

Don’t get me wrong, of course — I actually really liked the episode! The songs were amazing (especially Never Too Late) and I loved the forgiveness scene and the coronation at the end!

👑🌼👸🏽, please!

👑 - Favorite character? Victor Delgado. (He's the character I draw and think about the most, so logic dictates that he's probably my favourite). At first he seems like just a mildly threatening/fun villain, but as the show progressed you start to really care about him. Mainly because he's a good dad, that is a very important thing. But I don't think he really became my favourite character until “The Magic Within,” because as the old saying goes: When you can't have something, it just makes you want to have it more.

🌼 - Favorite episode? There are quite a few episodes that I really enjoyed. So just like Elena has more than one best friend, I have more than one favourite episode. But this time I think I'll talk about “Crash Course.” Bronzino’s song was great, the subplot was good at developing Dona Paloma, and it was really cute to see the guard squad together! But the heart of this episode was Gabe and Mateo’s relationship. From them sassing each other, to their fight, to them making up and sharing their insecurities with each other, and then working together to save the day, it was great!

👸🏽- If you could write a 4th season of the show, what would you have in store for elena’s future?

Elena must have a much greater scope of political abilities unlocked now that she has been crowned Queen, so would be interesting to see some of those. I also want to see her deal with a super serious political issue the outcome of which could determine the fate of the Kingdom. Like trying to stop a corrupt kingdom/organization from going to war with Avalor. (They do have a lot of powerful magical resources,  I could easily see an unscrupulous evil ruler wanting to get their hands on them). And then Elena has to use her political negotiation skills to stop them! If all else fails she could deploy the royal guard against them and see how that goes.

Speaking of the royal guard I would want to see more of General Núñez (He probably has some extra executive powers now too) truly leading them to be the best Royal Guard they can be. Maybe there's a bit of a fallout from Coronation Day, because even though the guards had learned magic by that point they weren't able to protect the palace and the town from the shades. Maybe Gabe has to build back up their morale. And after that they train more and become strong enough to actually defeat magical monsters and criminals. Or maybe they have to fight off an attack from that corrupt Kingdom, and save the Avalor in the process. (Also I wouldn't want to see any of the guards die per se, but if one of them got seriously injured it would be interesting to see how Gabe would react to that as well…) (I could talk about this all day but this answer is getting a bit long, but if anyone wants to ask me more about it I'd definitely keep expanding my ideas on this, or what I think other characters would be doing...)

I'd say that for this ask meme she counts (and any excuse to talk about EOA more).

Favorite thing about her?: I like how calm and collected she is, especially since it's usually the younger sibling who's the disaster one, so it's nice to switch it up, but she's also just a kid who's still figuring out how the world works.

Least favorite thing about her?: How underused she was when it came to her and Elena's parents. I especially don't like how Elena keeps getting interactings with their dead parents and it takes years for Isabel to even KNOW Elena can do that. And even when Isabel does finally know, it's brushed over like it's nothing...

Do I like her movie?: Already answered this with Elena, but yes, very much!

Favorite outfit she wears?: Her classic blue one we see her wearing most often until they visually aged her up.

Favorite song from her movie?: Possibly Sister Time, but I'm not sure. Maybe I'm just nogstalgic for that song...

I really enjoyed putting Esteban in one of his first low points throughout his life and with no comfort in sight. Disconnect & Still Here are kind of two sides of the same coin in the breakdown of the Delgado marriage with Ash’s being about of all the trials of motherhood and her jealousy of Victor and Carla’s bond while Victor’s is his realization that his wife is dead, and he is a single dad and dealing with that fallout. Tete a Tete was an emotional Carla piece since we haveN’t heard one word from her since The Magic Within special and I wanted to explore the isolation of the jail cell, the heartbreak over her father and her utter wretchedness with some hope coming in the form of the Captain of the Guard. Song of the Sirenas drabble was just a small piece on what Mateo’s reaction might have been like at the thought of Elena dead after the battle with Shuriki. Starved was my first piece with darker themes since it alludes to her life in poverty so I’m proud of that one. Broken Pieces is another emotional hurt comfort from Elena’s POV in the aftermath of Rise of the Sorceress and dealing with the heartbreak of her Mamí’s crown being broken, symbolizing all the danger she is in now that Shuriki’s back. Finally No room for weakness is another Esteban angst because Esteban always brings on the angst and emotional repression but luckily Elena’s there to pick him up.

Mistletoe is pure unadulterated Eleteo Christmas fluff and one of my best of the Eleteo confesses their feelings stories, I think. Honestly it was just overall a joy to write so I love looking back on it. Saying Goodbye, I was just so proud of this one because it was the first Estenaomi story that popped into my head without the help of prompt. I have some difficulties thinking up scenarios for them for some reason but this one flowed so easily, imagining how young Esteban would be after Naomi’s departure in The Last Laugh. Reunion was just a little fic based on what of the sweetest slow burn romance songs, “This is not my idea” from the Swan Princess. Intrinsic is another Eleteo one and its a fav because it just... I wanted to explore Mateo’s feelings after Elena almost died in Naomi knows best and just give name to the bond that they share. Safe in his eyes explores the same idea with Elena working through her new nightmares of being sacrificed and Mateo, the ever faithful is there to hold her close. Gababel is so fun and sweet to write and it was scarily easy to write Isabel being flustered (way too much experience in the easily flustered department) and of course, the first blush of crush love and having a mature Isabel interact with Gabe. Estoma kiss meme was a departure from the usual frenemy bantering to what I imagine was their initial partnership where they were reserved and feeling each other before unleashing their true personalities. The Estoma drabble started as a drabble but turned into a full length fic-let of what I imagined as a clandestine affair to hate to comfort to frenemies to potential friends which never comes to fruition because Esteban ran off with Ash. Mood Swings was initially inspired by a Kim Possible episode of the same name but evolved into one of my only heartwarming Delgados fic centering around Carla’s birth.Three’s a Crowd was one of my few attempts at Naomi POV which I think I did serviceable job and it was fun to go with a classic love triangle hijinks with suspicious Naomi, scheming Carla and clueless, arrogant Alonso. This is my son is one of the only YJ fics I’ve written down and so I love it because I wanted to include Rocket more into the team and Team dynamics and all that. I don’t write many Gabe POV fics so this one, I’m proud of, especially for giving Gabe a chance to shine in beating up a malvago and never giving up even when stabbed. if you could write a 4th season of the show, what would you have in store for elena’s future?

I really wanna see just the regular day-to-day management stuff Elena and the others have to deal with, which they did some of in season 1 but kinda dropped off as the show got more serialized. Having to mediate between local interest groups, learning more about Maruvian culture, bringing various traditions back to Avalor, etc. Also more interactions between the main characters, the other royals, and/or the recently introduced characters that we didn’t get enough time with, like Ixlan and Antonia. Really a lower-stakes season, with characters settling into the status quo they found at the very end of “Coronation Day”, and also how redeemed characters like Esteban, Victor, and Carla are fitting into their new lives.

favorite character?

My top three are Elena, Esteban, and Mateo. I’ve written a lot on all three of them in the past and I was gonna say more here but I’ve had this sitting in my drafts for a while now so I’ll leave it at: all three are really solid characters, relatable in different ways, easy to root for (and to drag in Esteban’s case), and they have such good character arcs that are fun to watch, not to mention cool powers.

which eoa song is always stuck in your head?

“The Right Thing To Do” pops up a disproportionate amount, I think. Haven’t listened to a lot of them in a while, but EOA has some catchy songs.
