SUMMARY the male lead was suppose to fall in love with the female lead, and yet how did he even gain an interest in you?! clenching your fist as determination blazes your orbs as you're now far beyond determined to make him dislike you for once and for all.

it's safe to say, that you punched a fist right to his face after spewing such shitty nonsense. that alone adding an nth time of gasps from everyone in the ballroom.

right now, unfortunately, you were sprinting to the long ass hallway without ever looking back. okay let's say you did look back and fortunately no one or neither the prince were chasing after you.

seriously, what has gone wrong with the male lead?! how in the actual fuck he had taken an interest in you? it seems as if every action you did to push him away only pulls him closer. might as well reset yourself from this world if you can.

whining immensely as you recalled your female lead's precious grin, "liz! what has come to my story?!"

yet to your utter disappointment and shock even, the news had somehow quickly reached the entire nation, everyone and anyone you could think of has been informed of the incident between you and the prince. confirming it totally as you walked through the market with the female lead.

"the prince has truly take a likening in you, milady." liz pulled up a proud smile which had you cringing. like please don't do that, please don't. you weren't supposed to be smiling like this.

"oh god, kindly refrain from uttering that prince's in front of my face, liz. he's nothing but a—" you immediately stopped yourself from spewing shit about the prince as you don't want to ruin liz's perception on him, which would possibly furthering the already inflicted damage on your original story.

groaning again you did as you couldn't possibly hid forever too, as the author of this novel; you are fully aware of how you crafted the prince's character, that despite all of the charms and dazzling traits you moulded into him, you've added one specific thing that had him stood out the most and that was he's beyond possessive and obsessed with the female lead as it was rooted from one of his traits; competitive, dedicated and most of the time, he doesn't like to lose and that he had to get what he wanted or else..

chaos it is, and such chaos coming from the prince himself are not to be underestimated.

you are having such an enormous urge to bang your head on your bed right now as how couldn't you? who doesn't want a male lead to live and die for their lover? of course you and your damn adorable readers!

well, fiction aren't to be confused with reality after all.

but damn your life for this is your reality now—here in your own very novel.

screw your novel, screw your life, screw reality, screw the prince! you might just as well fall into your slumber now as you try plan of another way to avoid that very prince you crafted.

the sun rays peering through the swaying curtains glints against your fluttering eyelashes, causing your orbs to hid behind the shield of your splayed fingers. stretching your arms upwards, a sense of satisfaction surged through your veins—fueling the corners of your lips to pull up in the widest grin.

you've successfully overturn your fate by not attending the prince's second invitation, squinting mischievously—he must have lose interest in you for not visiting your manor, doesn't he? with his character, he couldn't have possibly had gone that long! he sure would've been tremendously patient regarding political affairs but never at the female lead!

in chapter 16 of your novel, "blooming romances" where you've written the development of their romance that had your reader's heart evaporating into nothingness as they weep under the comment section over how a single sentence you wrote had made them feel so damn single and why they haven't found a guy like the prince yet:

— after gaining the heart of lady liz; prince jungwon was beyond ecstatic to have another day out with his lover, however alike the eclipse's separation—royal and political affairs had ripped him away from the comfort of his lover's arms. thus, he had been occupied with so much papers within the palace's quarters.

yet as soon as the grey cloak crawled back over the blue sky, pulling the moon back with it—so does the prince himself, leaving the stacked up papers on his desk and appearing before the lady's quarters after much effort climbing onto the firm tree.

wasting not a breathe, as the apples of his cheeks serving as physical form of his infatuation towards the lady—the tips of his tongue mellowed in instinct for her, along with his hand that were accustomed to his sword's handle to enveloped beneath her fingers—pressing a lover's vow on the top of her hand through his faint red lips.

"milady, i fear i had no longer the strength to contain myself from letting out a single breath without your presence." his lips ghosted against his lover's ear, "it had my patience crumbling into nothing when you, milady had reigned over my heart."

ah! what a joyous occasion! you plopped on the bed with your gathered strength as you giggled like a child. bliss consumed your entire soul with your surging scream alerting the entire manor.

swaying your pillow in a circular motion as you sprint towards your hallway, "juliet! liz! i'm the happiest person ever in the world— oh jesus, someone host a damn buffet and tell everyone in the manor to join!"

"milady!" you saw juliet sprinting towards your way.

"juliet! oh dear, you should—"

"milady!" she panted right after falling on your arms. "the— the—"

"hm?! why are you sweating so much? what happened?"

taking a deep humongous breathe she did before uttering one sentence that had your head blasting into the ghost quiet vacuum of space.

"the prince has arrived!"

"what?!" your jaw dropped on the ground with gigantic mirror crashing behind you.

"i seriously have no idea what do you find interesting in me?"

"i have yet to know, milady. that's the very reason i had the courage to ask for such a bold request from you."

"and what makes you assume i would agree to that?" you raised your left eyebrow.

"i have yet to resort to such foul actions, which i'd rather not to milady."

your blood surged cold through your veins, "a-are you threatening me?"

"certainly i do not intend it to sound that way, i prefer to keep this as civil as possible as you—milady, truly does has gained my interest and it would truly be vain if i.. wasn't given the chance to prove my worth to you. all i am asking is to grant me a chance to prove myself for you."

jungwon emitted a giggle as soon as he processed your words, "oh, i don't think i need one. after all, whatever you may wish, shall i grant."

"then, stop chasing me—"

"except that one." his lips pulled up in a mischievous smirk, the sun places a tender kiss on the strands of his hair—dripping honey hues on his cheeks which reflected against his feline orbs. "then shall we begin the countdown, milady?"

thirty days, it is; for him to pour his entire efforts to gain your heart and soul, while you extremely adamant in your mission to make him lose interest in you and make him fall in love with your precious female lead, liz.

"i see, that this is the lady our prince had taken an interest for?" a middle aged man along with a young lady appeared before you, clearly trying to get your attention.

"she truly live up to the rumor, father." the lady snickered behind her lacy handfan, her eyes held traces of mockery in it.

"i dare say that his royal highness had quite a special taste.."

you tilted your head at them, sighing as you very well know where is this going. of course why wouldn't you? this was the dialogue you created during a crying session after your favourite manhwa ends on a horrible note. opting to torture your characters in your dusty side novel by using this dialogue on them, and later had a beaming idea to recycle it for the female lead's fateful encounter with the nobles.

"if you'd like to keep your tongue, then i advise you to keep it shut. sir?" goosebumps raised over the back of your neck when the prince appeared, his feline eyes held irritation in it as he stood beside you. "you had no right to speak that way to my future wife."

"i- apologize, your highness!"

"i'm quite sure the one of the rules i stated that you would refrain from calling me.. your wife? didn't we?" you sighed.

"forgive me, milady." jungwon shrugged. "such atrocious tongue had to be cut off before it grows, and aside from that, what kind of husband would i be if i couldn't do the bare minimum of protecting my wife?"

"why.. is lady liz here with us too, milady?" dumbfounded the prince was at the presence of the lady. you suppressed the need to smirk as the prince were facing the female lead, and you in the middle.

ah, what a sight! you couldn't help but fangirl over, cause how couldn't you?! it's like a matchmaking session and you, obviously the cupid!

"i assume there's nothing to be curious at, as this was the pact, isn't your highness? i could bring whoever i please."

"yes, but.. the pact.." jungwon pauses, then pulls a tiny smile all reserved for you. "never mind it, i had been granted the honour to be invited to the lady's manor, how ungrateful would i be if i couldn't satisfy your wishes, milady." he continues as he turns his fluttering eyes at liz. "lady liz, it's my pleasure to meet you."

"so am i, your highness."

yes! yes! freaking finally, did he turned his damn head over the female lead! you got this, you were beyond skeptical at agreeing with the pact at first but now that you've seen it before your eyes, you could make the prince fall for the female lead whenever it's your turn to invite the prince!

this is truly a blessing in disguise!

make him fall in love her, bit by bit, till his interest in you slowly divert into the female lead before his eyes. simple it is! just make sure she's always in his line of vision, so that his heart would truly realise who it was beating for this entire time.

oh dear prince, look ahead and see the perfect lady that was meant for you! for if you still refuse to do so, i'll gladly force your damn kitten eyes to look towards her, mission start!

jungwon emitted a slight giggle, a tender smile forming in his lips. "that's fascinating of you, lady liz. is there anything you had an interest for other than that?"

"hm, i adore looking after birds, they're my precious friends that tend to help me more than i could count, your majesty. and at times, i practise the art of embroidery.."

jungwon's eyes beamed at that particular word and it didn't go unnoticed by your eyes forming countless of neon heart shapes as you watched them converse with each other, heart quenching in top fangirling mode as they were truly a match made for each other! aaah, my favourite couple!

an enchanting frame of them, what a lovely sight indeed! you could watch them all day all night, for their romance to bloom into waterfall of florals.

"how about you, lady (name)? is there anything you in particular liked about?" the prince asked you.

"uh-?" your fangirling mode switches off when both of their attention were now on you. shit, just ignore me and talk to each other! pretend i do not exist!

"i'm curious about you, milady." jungwon tilted his head at you, curiosity glazed across his feline orbs as he leaned back on the chair in a leisure manner, with his usual smirk pestering you to death.

you heard a few knocks on your door, the maid's head slipping in through the edge. "milady?"

"hm?" you didn't bother to pay a glance as you wiped off the excess soaking of your hair, still in your spiral of dilemma over what happened an hour ago. your stupid mistake of your damn foot conspiring to trip into the damn lake in a rare opportunity!

"his majesty were asking for your presence, milady."

"and what is his royal highness trying to conspire right here, huh? i am not his personal assistant to dress him up." you snorted, "what is this, barbie and ken? barbie girl in a barbie world?"

it's fantastic? this is nothing close to fantastic at all! you were so damn close to have them crashing their lips against each other!

"goddamnit why is this song kept repeating in my mind!" you whined to into your oblivion of despair.

the maid who had been patiently waiting for you to finish your emo session, spoke once again. "but milady, his majesty had been having troubles since an hour ago. he had only requested for you and no one else."

"oh god, fine!" you smashed your soaked towel on the table, huffing as you went on your way to the guest room. stomping your feet ever so loudly as you pause before the double door, "your highness, may i ask what in the world are going on for you to request for my presence?"

"come in, please."

you didn't think much as you pushed the door open, yet your lungs bursted into flames when his toned chest and down your eyes goes to his bunny pack of buns greeting your lazy orbs which had by far rattling into chaos as of now.

he's freaking half naked?! your mind chanted it like an unlimited quota. shirtless he was with that pestering smirk on his face as if he did this on purpose.

"milady?" jungwon smirked, "why don't you welcome yourself in? after all, this is your manor."

"i'd certainly would not dare, milady. but if you insist." he shots a mischievous wink at your way.

seriously, you couldn't be bothered by this, aren't you? god knows how many filth you've written in the past few years of your life, you could even describe all of it without releasing a few screams or there, which shows how much of a pro you are.

you were beyond nervous when he pushes the door opened to his room, revealing the entire outlook of the furnitures, painting, couches, table, and lastly.. the king-sized bed.

bitch, get a hold on yourself.

"milady," he pushed you on top of the bed, hovering over you as he caged you within his arms on both sides of your head.

"that's certainly brave of you, don't you think? milady?" he keeps emphasising the last word as if he adores to call you that very much, adding such seductive tone had your heart skipping a beat.

"milady." he whispered one more time.

he pressed a passionate kiss on your forehead, "milady." chanting the word a dozen more times as he continued on making you feel so loved.

his affectionate gestures were driving your soul insane and your knees weak as you indulged yourself in his love—the love he bestows only for you.

"milady."

what are your thoughts on contrarian? not my fav voice exactly, but i thought he was interesting in the ending where you leave with the stranger

Woo, it's been almost two weeks, but I've been thinking about this one.

I think the Contrarian is a very interesting voice, because he's just very much enjoying getting to annoy the fuck out of the narrator, but at the same time, he raises so many goddamn questions.

I first came across him during the Razor, where he (alongside the Broken, but who cares about the Broken) joins the Cheated in Chapter 3, and let me tell you, the Cheated and the Contrarian are an amazing combo, and they played off of each other well, although the Cheated is obviously more emotionally invested in beating the system than the Contrarian.

It was only when I got the Contrarian on his own that, uh, some things stopped making sense to me.

To get the Contrarian as a voice, you have to avoid the cabin as much as you possibly can, which means you don't even meet the Princess in Chapter 1. To the Contrarian, then, the Princess doesn't even exist as a real being; the only person existing outside of you (the protagonist) is the Narrator, and so he makes poking at the Narrator his entire existence.

When he does meet the Princess, he still doesn't see her as a real person, just as a vessel to annoy the Narrator, and this even makes some degree of sense! With every choice you make down there, you break reality a bit and create another Princess! So of course he doesn't think the Princess is real.

It's only when the various Strangers mix into one messy whole, where he realises this was an actual person, and his empathy rushes in to go 'oh shit, what did we do?'

'I didn't think our actions would have consequences.'

And this is really compelling, story-wise! I like it a lot!

It just doesn't make any goddamn sense!

Because the common theory is that you influence the Princess through your perception and belief of her (and your refusal to see her turns the Stranger into a Schrödinger's Princess, so this makes sense), and how the Princess sees you influences what voice you get.

Except you haven't met the Princess.

So where the fuck does the Contrarian come from? What is he? We have good reason to believe the Voices are the result of the messy split between Shifting Mound and Long Quiet, right? But clearly it's not the Princess causing the Contrarian to arrive. There's only one person outside of you who knows how you behaved in Chapter 1, and that's the Narrator, except the instance of the Narrator dies at the end of every Chapter 1!

And anyway, why isn't the Narrator ever confused about the presence of other Voices? He doesn't ever seem to be surprised when they show up, even if he might be shocked at their abilities, but at the same time, he doesn't know what it means for there to be multiple of them, either?

So what the fuck is going on here? Is it really the Narrator's final impression of you that spawns the Voice in the next chapter, and not the Princess?

But even then, the Contrarian is special, isn't he?

He's the only non-Hero voice that can show up in the Cabin at the end, if you started with the Stranger route, and you know what he says?

He says he's 'right where you left [him]'. What the fuck does that mean? Presumably it's similar to what happens when you kill the Shifting Mound and the other Voices show up to join you in the new world, but the Contrarian still plays a different role.

I feel like there's answers to be had here, but I'm clearly not big-brained enough to figure them out just yet!

Tumblr Men Taxonomy

Ever since the rise of the Spamton fanbase i’ve been seeing a lot of debate on if spamton should be considered a Tumblr Sexyman or not and i think everyone saying he’s NOT is correct, but i’ve been talking with some friends and have realized a pattern in what i’d like to lovingly call a new “branch” of tumblr men/people because it’s an exceedingly common character archetype i feel us as a userbase need to acknowledge and treat separate from your oncelers and the like.

These guys? they’re all classic Tumblr Sexymen right? well, by consulting the primary sources  talking with my friends who were on the website and in the fandoms during the golden age of tumblr men, i’ve realized a massive part of sexyman culture people FORGET is that their appeal doesn’t just come from them being lanky bastard twinks. (we’ll get to sans later)

Their main appeal from a fandom perception is their actual or perceived HUMANITY. That sounds a little weird considering half these characters arent even human, but hear me out. Characters like the onceler and komaeda from dangan ronpa are just... dudes? Like they’re fucked up dudes, but they’re just GUYS. Sans too, even though not a human person, is still a very ORDINARY guy underneath the fandom-imposed angst. the appeal of these characters came from people seeing a spark of relatability and normalcy underneath all their Issues(tm) and fanwork, while portrayed as the “I can fix him” mentality came from a genuine place of exploration into what these people could BE

characters who AREN’T human, like bill cipher, wheatley, and dare I say the goddamn clock from DHMIS were QUITE LITERALLY humanized to explore a potential reality where they COULD be more of... PEOPLE despite their human nature. If they had become popular in THIS day and age, dare i say they fall into our SECOND category more (and as these interpretations of them are fanon i dare say they DO double class considering the disconnect between these common fan headcanons and fans which prefer the source material versions)

and then you get to characters like alastor or jack frost, who were once entirely human, then becoming inhuman entities, and that small bit of something left in there provides intrigue to explore them as people beyond their fun personality exteriors. 

Now, here’s where I’d like to propose the divide. Some of these characters gained less fan notoriety than others (especially because toby fox seems to be the main supplier of these guys) but they have often been labelled TSMs when I see a pretty distinct through line between them, with a little bit of wiggle room

The name i’ve been lovingly calling these guys is Disney Channel Eldritch Horrors. I am very open to new propositions however as the name implies that they are both from the Disney Channel and eldritch horrors which isn’t always correct. I haven’t found a similar name that conveys the same VIBES yet, so if anyone has any ideas for a better name i’d love to hear it. basically, the gist of this trope is that we have some weird little guys who are probably inhuman nightmares who’s appeal comes from sheer force of personality. this is where you get your weird little clown men and goofy loveable abominations. (i feel like some homestuck characters might fit this bill but i know absolutely nothing about any of them)

some of them MAY have some sort of tragedy involved in their backstory (spamton, flowey) but the main appeal of liking the character i’d argue comes more from the sheer strength of their characterization, rather than that stuff. Spamton is the closest to breeching this, but i feel for spamton fans i see way more posts about how people wanna throw him in a microwave than discussing the deep ramifications of his backtory (plus, he wasn’t ever a human person either.) Flowey on the other hand, the fandom has split asriel and him SO far as to be entirely separate characters despite the divide being less of a thing in canon, and people who are fans of just flowey tend to focus less on his backstory. 

now you’ll see i’ve also included discord in here, which is to demonstrate that i don’t think the body type for these guys has to exclusively be “some little shaped dude”, because discord tows that line, but his appeal still stays in that sheer force of personality, and he’s also very much NOT a human being. as mentioned earlier, the canon versions of wheatley and that stupid clock also probably fit this bill more. Bill Cipher is where i see this divide the strongest, between the canon character and fan reactions and he’s such a popular character that his fanbase CAN be split between these two camps i think. 

disney channel eldritch horrors i think, can be classified more on creator intent with their existence rather than fan reaction like a classic TSM. some of these characters gained more popularity than others but there’s a very specific crowd who forms to liking these characters over the TSM variety.

now, one last proposal in taxonomy, is that the twink body type vs lil shaped guy is an indicator of which category a character may fall into but it is not the primary factor and can be overridden by personality 

sans is a weird lil guy in classic toby fox fashion, but i think his status as a Tumblr Sexyman should not be questioned since his fandom was the closest thing to the replication OF the onceler fandom and his appeal was very steeped in his more darker aspects of the character. fizzarolli on the other hand, is very much a lanky beanpole dude, but he also is a stupid chaotic jester man who’s sheer VIBES overpower his body type and his popularity is for that personality. this is a rare phenomenon, but i realized it to be the case through some friends’ OCs, as calling some characters “tumblr sexymen” felt incorrect the deeper i thought about it

So a lot of the time your feelings of inferiority are coming from yourself. We suffer the most in our imagination. But if they aren't and it actually is somebody not respecting you, don't shy away! Examine it. If I was there I'd absolutely grind your face in it. When you do feel embarrassed somewhere and people aren't taking you seriously as a man I need you to go full humiliation kink and examine everything you possibly can. The most educating moments of our lives are frankly fucking horrible and you won't grow as a man if you aren't paying attention. The beauty here is observation, like is it something I'm doing? Are there any other men who are also being demeaned? I want you to know exactly where the pain is.

We need times in our lives when we are basically teenagers, stunted, clumsy, awkward shitty theatre kid versions of the men in our lives, all our feelings of shame and dysphoria are for a reason. We cannot truly eliminate weakness in ourselves if we can't find it, and the best way is exposing it. And that's a really humiliating process because a lot of us started way late at the most subtle exhibitions of masculinity. These cis guys have been doing it their whole lives.

But like, give yourself some credit, you're not the moron here. We aren't kids. We are adults and we can learn faster and adapt faster than kids can. Question your own perception! Are you really that far behind? I think honestly for the time you've been a man and the obstacles you've gone through to get to where you are you've been doing pretty damn well. You've dealt with things that majority of cis men would not be strong enough to deal with.

Do not be uncomfortable with your material reality because if you can't face it and look at yourself and all of your flaws you can't improve. You need to go out and do things and experience humiliation in order to expose all your weaknesses, and then work to eliminate them. Don't just shoot yourself down all the time, oh I can't do that, I'm too weak, I'll never get there, it's too scary, etc. like, come on, this is your life, this is serious. be a fucking man LMAO.. when you can force respect from yourself then you will be able to make other men respect you. That's the first step.

It just takes the nastiest ordeal to get there. Sometimes the ordeal is coming from us! We terrify ourselves. We torture ourselves worse than any other man could ever dream of. Start smaller and smaller, understand that your feelings of terror are jealously guarding your potential to be a man like a hen guarding its eggs and you need to just bare your teeth and rip that piece of shit limb from limb and take what you are entitled to.

Like let me stay grounded here. When I first started what I do for work, tree removal, it was incredibly embarrassing and nobody respected me. And they were right. Like I could barely use a chainsaw, I couldn't pull the cord fast enough to turn it on, couldn't lift the fucking thing. I didn't know shit about anything, and I couldn't figure out shit about anything, like I was lacking entire thought processes that other dudes could do starting in kindergarten, it went all the way down to going to lumber yards and boys getting excited over big machines and tractors, they were familiar with everything and had decades of experience on me while I was still learning how to be a man. There were some jobs I didn't stick around very long at, hahaha.

But then I learned, like I wanna say it took me about two years to get up to speed, And I took the piss and I accepted consequence. As soon as I stopped demanding immediate, fairy tale perfection from myself and my life and stopped with "should'ves" my life became much more work oriented and essy to deal with. Getting fired was fine. Getting bitched out and humiliated was fine. Going with incredible isolation and lacking very basic things was fine Because like shit I tried and and as long as some other guy is doing it to me I sure as hell don't need to do it to myself. I just had to work that much harder. Endure it!!!

some guys now are still better than me because they've been doing it longer but I'm functional now u know. And like these guys also don't know shit about anything, like wow they can lift a big saw and use a tractor but they're so focused on being masculine they don't fucking explain things. Because of their feelings and their oh you ought-tos and just absolutely writhing in weakness and inefficiency for NO REASON. Like I actually have a vagina, man, the fuck is your excuse? I've had quite a few bosses who will tell you to do something, give no details, get mad when you ask for details, and get mad when you do the job wrong. Then I feel like I am truly one of the guys when we're just discussing what the fuck our boss meant. Is he really a big fucking man when he can't do his job? When all the men he works with think he's a punk?

Where I'm at in my transition right now I still don't always get men to listen to me, like my coworkers in conversation, which at first I percieve as disrespect but then i need to consider the men I'm with don't really listen to anyone. If my current boss, a man in his 40s who has witnessed so many deaths in his field and is physically stronger and smarter than all of them can't get them to listen, is it really a blow to the respect I command? And these guys also all feel insecure about being a man, except they haven't figured out basic shit that I have so they think raising their voices means people will listen. A lot of these guys get their asses handed to them by girls, they can't handle heartbreaks. They bring up being jealous about me doing things that I considered feminine, they wonder how I can haggle well, make funny jokes, talk to girls, keep everything clean, cook well, play poker well - these are all feminine skills, haha, the empathy and sensitivity required in the money world especially.

Focus on your humanity first, and use being a man and your desire to be a man, to magnify and shape your desires as a human being. Like you wanna be a man. What does that mean? You wanna be respected, command other men? You want to take control? You want to be dominant? You want to be skilled? What will it take to get to that point? And have a little fun, enjoy the process it takes to get there, in its kinky, humiliating, rancid chained-to-the-radiator glory.

HMMM well. i like to think stan sort of realized sometime during the 10 years she was separated from ford in the 70s. for awhile in her teen years whenever she felt out of place in her body she covered it up with a facade of hypermasculinity in hopes that it would make the feeling go away. however a few years down the line she was traveling the country on her own and that gave her time to Realize Some Things 🏳️‍⚧️ about herself. but of course she was still in bad company and extremely self-conscious and vulnerable (not to mention full of internalized sexism) so even after she figured she was a girl she continued denying it to herself

i think only when she officially began living in gravity falls as stanford did she realize that it literally doesn't matter. she's living in a fuckall town in the middle of nowhere in oregon, everyone in the town is a little weird (not to mention the cryptids and anomalies everywhere) and nobody's gonna care if she officially accepts that she's a woman and starts transitioning

ford also probably realized during those 30 years in the portal. i think she wasn't really as troubled by her gender the way stan was growing up, it was just sort of a side effect of existing, but she never had any reason to call herself anything but a man even if it didn't feel Quite Right. however meeting people from different dimensions with different perceptions of gender made her realise gender is a fuck and she can do what she WANTS...... and then she comes out of the portal 30 years later some flavor of fem nonbinary

also re: their transitions, i don't think either of them would be that bothered with it? apart from the hrt, of course, stan might've briefly tried voice training; i imagine she puts on a marginally more feminine voice when she's being ms (mrs???) mystery and then at home or when she's not around customers she drops the voice and just sounds like how stan does in canon. i don't think she would go for any kind of surgery either whether facial feminization or bottom surgery or whatever; she doesn't care that much for presenting as feminine even if it gets her weird looks from some people. she's secure enough in her gender to validate it for herself <3

with ford it gets a little complicated. how much of a human's transition could've been completed while she was dimension hopping?? do they have estrogen in other dimensions??? if ford started doing hrt did they give her estrogen or like an equivalent??? so many questions and zero answers. if not then i think she would like to go on hrt after returning from the portal but like stanley would not care much for surgeries or voice training. both of them like their roughed up old guy voices too much to do anything about it

okay i finally finished rewatching s1 of the afterparty (it took me so long bc i’ve been watching it w my dad and i haven’t seen him in a while) (will respond to whoever asked me about my thoughts on s2 once i get to it) so here are my thoughts (immediate spoilers btw)

yasper literally could’ve gotten away with it AND maintained his friendship with aniq if at the very beginning he had just said “i was up there talking to him and he accidentally slipped i tried to save him but i was too far away also it’s my birthday im a little birthday boyy” . and then even if danner had pressed him further bc she suspected foul play, aniq would’ve had his back bc he would’ve known that yasper was willing to take the fall just so that aniq wouldn’t be implicated. yasper rly fumbled that huh

that said, i don’t think yasper should go to prison because killing xavier is not a crime by any moral standards. in fact he should win the nobel peace prize

also yasper should win ANOTHER nobel just for being enmeshed in not ONE but two examples of toxic yaoi. he’s crazy for that

on a rewatch the brett episode might genuinely be the funniest one. and the high school episode is still genuinely devastating

as for what I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT FUCKING STAND ABOUT THIS SHOW: it is a show fundamentally concerned with how the lens through which we view media shapes our perceptions of the world. it is a show about narrativization and the nature of propaganda. it is a show that continually lampshades the way in which our media is an inaccurate reflection of our material realities. it is a show that explicitly points out the harmful nature of copaganda, especially in terms of how it contradicts real-world policing…in an episode that simultaneously portrays policing in a fundamentally inaccurate way that plays into the exact same reactionary, harmful tropes it is ostensibly critiquing. and i don’t find this cute or charmingly ironic, i find this to be particularly insidious, because self-awareness without self-critique allows for the viewer (and the writer) to feel smugly satisfied while absorbing the exact same propagandistic tropes they somehow consider themselves immune to. the characters repeatedly emphasize that our perspectives are flawed as a way of gesturing to the failures of our criminal justice system, but the show ends with the same poirot-esque victory for our central cop heroine without ever actually taking into consideration the harm of presenting such a narrative. because the good cop gets to feel satisfied that she solved the case before the bad cop came and made a wrongful arrest, right? it’s especially insidious because they clearly imply that racism is a motivating factor in aniq’s status as the primary suspect as well as danner’s slower career trajectory (as well as misogyny, in her case), but acknowledging that there is racism and sexism embedded into these institutions of policing while otherwise upholding the work cops do as “solving crimes” and “serving the community” is an even more dangerous form of liberal copaganda in many respects. the way yasper’s arrest is framed angers me, but it’s not necessarily because i think ben schwartz is too cute to go to jail (although i still maintain jennifer 1 would’ve made for a better murderer if they had to go that route at all). it’s that the framing plays the assumptions of this fundamentally reactionary genre completely straight; the entire show continually lampshades many of the glaring flaws in this premise as it nevertheless upholds deeply harmful institutions. as far as s1 goes, it is an extremely entertaining piece of comedy with a great cast (although john early and tiya sircar were underutilized so what’s even the point), with an interesting premise and framing device, but completely ideologically abhorrent in a way that genuinely sickens me.

Okay, so I just rewatched S1 of Loki. And since the last time I watched, so many opinions of mine have changed. Instead of focusing all on Lokius and their character arcs, I went into this viewing instead looking at Sylvie, completely throwing my initial dislike of her out the window to be unbiased.

And MAN, am I glad I did that. Because I connected to Sylvie on a WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL.

In my eyes, I see her as a trans allegory. Lokis are usually genderfluid, right? I mean, that's the impression I get - our main 2012 Loki, who's only difference from the Sacred Timeline was escaping with the Tesseract, is classified as genderfluid. And that makes perfect sense, he's a shapeshifter and all that, yadda yadda stuff that's already been said, love it.

But here's the thing. The thing that made Sylvie a Variant, to our knowledge, was that "she is a woman!" So, let's think about this for a second. She's different because she's STRICTLY a woman. Not genderfluid. She/her in her bio. And it finally clicked for me that she's... trans. Literally trans. AND THATS WHAT GETS HER ARRESTED BY THE TVA! She wasn't the right gender, she dared to do something nobody wanted her to. She was different, unexpected... a Variant. And she had to be annihilated because of that.

I know, I know, I'm just stating what all of us already know, we KNOW thats why she was arrested. But you have to actually think past the annoying "oohhh she's the only girl Loki great original idea Marvel" in order to sympathize with her character, because she is VERY sympathizable.

She's literally just a kid, living as her truest self. She's ripped from her family by essentially the government of the universe. She's taken to a trial that nobody walks away from innocent. But Sylvie is different. Lokis are the definition of chaos, the unexpected, defiance. And she's the most defiant of all, because she defied even the preset she was given as a physical person. Nah, she didn't want to be a man or even nonbinary. She was a woman, and they wouldn't let her be. That wasn't allowed. They would hunt her down just for fucking existing in a way that didn't match up with their perception of Lokis.

Her entire life was fighting against a system that wanted her dead. They would rather have order and their precious little clean, easy system (that in reality is harder to maintain than letting people be free) than to let her just fucking exist as she wanted to.

The resentment grows. Of course you want to take down the entire system. Of course you want to burn it all down. Because not only did the government hunt you down, they had already hunted down an infinite number of people just like you. People who didn't find happiness in what was force-fed to them. People who didn't want to tread down the only path provided.

Isn't that what all of us people in the LGBTQ+ community want? To tear the system to pieces, to start over anew? I mean, that's what I want. Because it's flawed right to the very core - at least, where I'm from (the USA), it is. It was made to keep rich, white cishet men in power. A system built from discrimination and power-hoarding cannot be reformed. And even if you tried, it would take too long. It HAS taken too long, and it's cost countless innocents their lives.

You can't undo all that trauma instantaneously. Of course Sylvie would burn it all down. Of course she would kill He Who Remains. Of course she wouldn't want the TVA to keep existing. Yes, there are people in the TVA now that want to change it for the better. Yes, she needs to open her heart and realize burning it down doesn't fix everything. Because you can't rip everything to shreds and not create something new in its place. Fighting tyranny doesn't just end with kicking the dictator out of power - you have to set fair rules to prevent the same thing or worse happening again.

I understand why she didn't want to come back. She had fulfilled what she thought was her only purpose, and finally settled down into the life she utterly deserves. But her story isn't over yet. She can be at peace with having created a new world in which the tyranny is over. In which everyone makes their own choices. In which she can be a woman and never fear time itself imploding. It's just hard to let go of something you've been holding onto for so long. You've been fighting to keep yourself alive and true, and it's hard to accept when maybe... you are winning.

You are not a Loki because you are Sylvie. You broke your guidelines so deeply that you are your own person. There is nobody like you because deep in your very soul, you are the truest Loki to ever exist. You defy. You survive. You and your glorious purpose, to smile and know you are a woman and nobody can tell you any differently. You are exactly whatever you choose to be.

THATS NOT EVEN ALL OF IT THOUGH. THERE'S MORE. And yes, it's about our main Loki and Sylvie's relationship.

I'll come right out of the gate: I've been a Lokius shipper since literal day 1, and nothing will ever change that. I don't ship Sylki and I never will, end of story. I don't see them as romantic at all. What I DO see, however, is looking yourself in the mirror and feeling love for yourself, having survived everything and still more. Let me explain what I mean.

The whole first season, Loki gets to know Sylvie and more of her backstory. And obviously they have the fun dynamic of being two "Lokis" (I hesitate calling Sylvie a Loki anymore) because they're both insanely arrogant and backstabby, yadda yadda. But Loki becomes fonder of Sylvie. Why?

Because they see this other version of themself that went through something so similar yet so incredibly different than them. They are still genderfluid - and bisexual - and they went through that journey of self discovery. They realized they didn't exactly fit the mold, classic trans story. But the difference is that while their family came to accept that and they got to live their life as themself, they see this distorted mirror of what could've been. They see a life where Odin and Frigga didn't accept them. They see the life they were lucky to escape, a life of hardship and a battle they never had to fight.

Sylvie was so brave. But she's been broken time and time again, and she's lonely, and she's never had anyone to care about her. It's you. She's alone and you've just been told by an old friend that you will be alone until the end of time. That you are unlovable. You are the same. You feel so much empathy and you realize something important.

You're looking at this beautiful person. A person who has endured so much pain, and she is beautiful because she is herself. She fought so hard to exist and she has never had a win and she's never had anyone who ever truly understood her. She is you but not you because she is herself.

It's a similar feeling to looking into a mirror and seeing yourseld as a child. Different but the same. Your lives as a whole are completely different. But you still face the same issues. You look in the mirror and the other you is broken. The other you, just like you, thinks they are unlovable.

But you know what they are going through. And you love them more than anyone ever could. You understand more than anyone ever could.

As someone who is on the aroace spectrum and struggles to parse if I'm feeling romantic or platonic feelings (I won't even get into that), I see the Sylki kiss as a complicated but understandable action. The idea of feeling romantic feelings towards yourself is something unfathomable as nothing really can equate to it in our world. I won't get into the morality of it, because honestly, the answer to that is completely based on subjective opinion, since it's an abstract concept. Anyways, my point.

My POINT is that Loki has a lot of feelings and doesn't really know how to express them. Also, like, I'm pretty sure Sylvie only kissed him because she wanted to trick him into letting his guard down to kick him back to the TVA lollll.

As for the end of S2? Well, after the incredible mind-boggling Ep4, I have no idea what way the plot will turn from here. But as for character arcs, I think Sylvie will come to realize that this new TVA can be a force for good. With a new code for keeping the timeline safe from multiverse jumpers who wish the conquer multiple planes - AHEM Kang or others -, and NO PRUNING INNOCENT TIMELINES, why not keep it around? It's a whole different system at that point. It's no longer forcing people to be exactly as intended. It let's them live out their lives however they want to, safe from existential threats.

Sylvie can sit in the back of her truck looking up at the stars in her McDonald's uniform, breathing in fresh air, and thinking about how good it is to be no longer the only one like her.

i would honestly like to hear the debate between him and his girlfriend on her favorite book. 😭

Okay, then. Here's a little something. just a trigger warning though, the book they discuss includes suicide.

"I'm confused. I thought you'd like it. It's got everything that you love about art, instability of memory, open-ended-ness, blurring between fiction and reality....what seems to be the issue?" She crosses her arms over her chest, and Matty can tell she's unhappy. He laughs and tells her to just "forget he said anything," but she's persistent. "C'mon, let me hear it."

"Fine, alright- would you like some tea?" He walks away from the kitchen table and towards the kettle.

"Sure." she nods.

"Alright, so. The whole point of the first half of the book is to establish the contrast between Adrian and the rest of the boys, yeah?"

"mhm..."

"And the difference is- uhh- what exactly? That he's an idealist?" Matty stands at the kitchen counter, with his back towards her, pulling two tea bags out of the canister.

"Yeah, that he doesn't possess that sense of doom that teenagers often have. He believes in goodness over fame, he maintains a grid relationship with his parents despite their divorce, he has a sense of moral identity..." She watches as her boyfriend turns to face her, leaning against the kettle as he waits for the water to boil.

"Right, yeah, exactly- so it makes no sense whatsoever all that stuff he does in his diary! He's got a mathematical equation. And this...absurd idea that- that he "evaluated things logically," and reached the conclusion that "life is a gift," which he decides to reject. don't you see how nonsensical that is???"

"I don't, actually. The only nonsense I'm getting is out of you." she looks him dead in the eyes.

Matty groans in frustration, running his fingers through his hair. His lips part, ready for a rebuttal, but the kettle makes a noise, indicating that his water's ready.

"Darling, my sweetest girl, my truest love....use your brain for half a second." He pours water into the mugs.

"Excuse me?" she gets up from her seat, opening the fridge to pull out some milk for the tea.

"If Adrian's the idealist that the book suggests he is, then don't you think it'd be inconsistent of his character to reduce human relationships to mathematical equations? and use "logic" to weigh his options about whether to kill himself or not? life's complicated! it doesn't work like numbers do! don't you think his fuckin...he goes to Cambridge doesn't he?- yeah, don't you think his fancy Cambridge degree would've taught him at least that much? Besides, people who are in a suicidal state aren't 'logical.' Makes no sense!" He sets her tea mug in front of her, and his own, in front of him.

"Matty, honey, you of all people should know...perceptions are biased. We don't actually know the true nature of Adrian's character. We only know Tony's view of him. And, to make matters even more complicated, Tony is remembering him years into the future. So, his memories aren't accurate. We all remember our childhoods with rose-tinted glasses. I would argue that the diary stuff shows us the real Adrian. And Maybe Tony's reaction is cuz he can't accept the truth!"

Matty takes a long sip of his beverage to buy himself some time to think. "Well- umm-"

"Well what? You've got nothing!"

"Fuck yeah, I do! The way he's so considerate of others upon killing himself? don't you think that, if he's thinking this hard about how his body would be found, then he's clearly passionate enough about things to...stick around? Again, the characters and the plot are entirely unrealistic."

"That's the point Matty! You're meant to question the accuracy of the narrative!"

"And the whole paternity thing- what the fuck's that about. Cheap shot, if you ask me? The book takes pains to establish this character as this unique individual, and then falls back on old tropes."

"Okay, that's a completely separate issue, but, again, that's the fuckin point! Even the most unique among us is, in the end, still a cliche because they're still human. susceptible to the very same human troubles as the average person. You've clearly not read the book closely enough." she picks up her copy, slamming it into his chest. "read it again, then we'll talk."

Matty chuckles. "Fine, for you, I'll read it again....but only so I can find more flaws."

She rolls her eyes, despite smiling. "You won't find any. it's a perfect book."

He leans over the table, kissing her lips. "admitted, darling. Your favorite book is ridiculous. Just pick a new favorite....make sure it's better, though..."

WAIT HOLD UP THIS is the still image that shows up for s1 ep1 when netflix is in a weird paused state like after i wake my pc up from sleep w netflix still open.  weirdly enough though, this moment does not exist in the show. at all.  

when we see will run into the shed, the door is already open and then he closes it. but out here, we see will looking curiously/nervously into a closed shed. when we saw will in the shed, did that even happen at all???? we know that the bullets and stuff were disturbed because hopper saw that, but is what we saw the night of will’s disappearance actually reality, or was the real will outside of the shed at the time, watching something go down in there?? watching himself, somehow??? which is interesting considering that hawkins lab was able to create a perfect recreation of his body AND that there’s TWO contradictory versions of the “zombie boy/boy who came back to life” article, one of which talks about hopper finding him out in a cabin in 6 days, the other which talks about finding will after a week of being experimented on at hawkins lab. i’d dismiss it as the government trying to cover things up if it wasn’t for the fact that it seems to be like. physically the SAME article with the SAME photo and the SAME headline and written by the SAME person, just with different contents- it almost seems like timeline/perception/vecna fuckery to me.  and like. the s1 article is the one that talks about will being found at hawkins lab whereas the s2 one says he was at a cabin. so why do we a.) have a perfect replica of will’s body created by the lab, b.) have an article claiming he was found at the lab after being experimented on, c.) have this still image of will looking IN to the CLOSED DOOR shed on the night he disappeared, and d.) why did will recognize brenner in s4? i know a lot of people dont trust the 8flix scripts but i personally dont think they were entirely fake- and even if they WERE, will’s face shows recognition in the show when he sees brenner in s4.   so what the fuck. maybe this is just an error/im looking too far into it, but considering all of the absolutely bizarre inconsistencies ive been finding with the shed on the night will disappears vs other footage of the shed (even other footage in the SAME EPISODE), like with a weird substance on the windows that isn’t there in the scene where he disappears, or the face that the shed hopper goes into has a completely different door from the one we see when will disappears, im suspicious. The fact that we have this screenshot of will staring INTO the shed, AND the fact that the door only becomes a different door from the pov of will INSIDE the shed is absolutely raising an eyebrow from me. because like i point out in the post i just linked, the view of the shed from the OUTSIDE the night will disappears, has the same door gaps as the door hopper sees- but the door from the INSIDE pov is completely different from both the outside door on the night will disappears AND from both the inside and outside door when hoppper sees it. so basically will door outside view + hopper door outside view + hopper door inside view are all the same door but will door inside shed view is a COMPLETELY different door.  and we have this screenshot of will looking into the shed with the CLOSED DOOR on the night that he disappeared- but according to what we saw in the show, HE’S the one who closed the door. so the moment that will’s looking into the shed from the outside in that still image is the SAME moment that he would have been INSIDE OF THE SHED, right before he disappears.  and look at how BRIGHT the light is on will in that still image- it’s extremely bright, brighter than the light was on him when we saw him run into the OPEN shed door in the show. so that tells me that this is actually the EXACT moment that inside-shed will disappeared + the lightbulb got all bright.  it’s also much brighter OUTSIDE in that still image- you can see the green of the wagon and the grass, which you CANNOT see when will runs into the shed in s1. this is giving me serious “will is in the upside-down/same place max was when she had her billy-graveyard vecna vision in s4″ because it’s much darker and desaturated AND the same fog is present in both scenes.  what the fuck

I'm barely considered a Hawks stan, we all know this. I don't go a week without finding someone random who I have never seen in my life has me blocked because I'm mean to my blorbo and like being honest about Hawks being fucked up, even appreciate and stan him for the worst of him. Like if you're trying to convince someone, the person who used to scream all 2020 that hawks stans were cop apologists (not that I should have tbh) is not the person you need to convince about what Hawks did being wrong.

And finally, again, I disagree about Hori. I would have agreed two years ago but we've gotten:

Keigo yelling his fucking head off while looking deranged that they need to "kill them all (twice)":

Keigo outright telling us he likely had Twice's body destroyed right after the raid like that shit is fucking normal.

Horikoshi illustrating that Keigo's "tells" in mental illness are connected to his eye size which made the Hawks "optimist" comment clearly delusional in retrospect since the panel shows his voice as shaky and his eyes as uneven, and the anime doubles down on how insincere he is on this.

The anime choosing to portray Keigo's discussion on Jin and desire to help Endeavor as ominous and menacing when the scene was at most ambiguous in the manga. There's no reason it was animated like that unless someone directly told the composer and staff it was not meant to be a hopeful scene for him.

Horikoshi's deliberate pitting of All For One and Hawks against each other - All For One who complains he's amoral when he's actually extremely immoral and a liar. And Keigo who commits immoral acts for what he believes are moral reasons. Both characters are shown to have fairly delusional and warped perceptions of reality.

Horikoshi deciding to consistently have Keigo and now Inasa wounded in the exact same area. Keigo was wounded in the middle of his forehead twice. Both characters are now "literally seeing red" after being struck in the place of the Ajna/Daisanome/Third Eye which deals with perception.

I'm just saying, there's such an eagerness to think Horikoshi isn't slowly leading into something with Keigo when if you look back, it's clear he's leading us somewhere. If you expect to be disappointed by Horikoshi, you will be.

The Descending and Ascending Of A Hero Part 1

Dick Grayson is on his normal midnight run of Gotham City from his haunting grounds of Bloodhaven landing on Gotham Banks roof top.

He rolls over kneeling on to the scene he is staring down peering in to a strange and eerie occurrence as the cloud of mist faded on to scene.

A familiar sound of whimsical child like lore of music blows in the wildness of the wind images of the past penetrating in to his own mind.

His body shook a bit remembering the busy night his world came to a crushing holt of it all with crowds coming bursting through the grounds.

The screams of children yelling out in to the area, clowns and other members of Hypno circus start to appear to Dicks shock of it all.

The entire campus of the circus appears before his eyes flashes of the big top opens and his entire family takes flight in to the air The Daring Graysons.

His parents rope is cut leaning them falling to the floor of the circus tent Dicks mind is returning to his current reality where a new crime is about to happen.

He flips off the rooftop on to the scene in awe of it all the wonderful feeling of his old life erupts when a strange group of loving employees.

A man walk out in the middle of the campus ready to fight for the total control of the fair Dick Grayson to serve only me his future Master.

Bruce Wayne is tired of waiting for an answer from Dick Grayson for weeks on end after he had disappeared and no word to know what happens.

Bruce is currently downstairs in the inner lair of the basement of Wayne Mayor the bats are flying high above the Batcave flying over him.

The Bruce sleeps all day and night for days on end body slump over on to the chair and his head laying chin forward on to his chest snoring away.

“Master Bruce? Master Bruce?” Alfred yells shaking Bruce awake from his deep slumber as his snores crackle.

“What? What Alfred?”

“The Bat signal is on high alert.”

“Nightwing’s signal is on”

“Where is he?”

“Tracking him now”

“I will bring him home”

“Be safe”

“Always”

“Bruce Wayne? How lovely it is to meet you?” A familiar voice calls out.

“Dick? Where are you show yourself?”

“I will when I feel it need be”

“What is the matter with you?”

“You vanished for weeks”

“I had to retreat this god awful city”

In the midst of it all a letter fell from the sky to the ground of the grounds dropping in the light of the night.

The lights hit the letters Bruce walks close to the sight bending over to pick it up in a bit disappointment.

He turn its over beginnings to read the letter he is in total shock at the horrific, evil and absolutely cold shill of his words.

Bruce eyes open wide, his mouth drops slow open, the letter fell as Bruce anger rages up in anger.

His hands form a fist ready to fight his old protege looming figure leads a shadowy silhouette.

A downcast cover ls Bruce’s body in time to see a light shadow backflip in to the scene he lands in the yard.

“Will you head my words? Will you obey him?”

“Who ?”

“The Ring Leader”

“Never heard of him”

Macau Theerapanyakul - a character study (pt.4)

“Why am I sneezing so much, someone must be talking about me.”

(we have been deprived of Macau screentime for too long so i decided to do something about it - welcome to a study of all the times the KP characters have shit talked my boy behind his back and what he did to not deserve any of it. enjoy!)

Macau’s appearance in Episode 9 reinforces a few things I’ve already mentioned in previous parts, mainly that he tends to mirror Vegas and enjoys scheming with his older brother. The way he effectively traps Pete and the various touches throughout their encounter at the temple also mirrors what his father and Vegas have taught him that I go in-depth about here. But what we also get, is a glimpse into Macau’s relationship with is the man who isn’t there. 

Did you make Macau’s head bleed? Awesome! I love that, I love really love that! (Tankhun, Ep 2)

Seeing you here. Don’t tell me that Tankhun is here too? (Macau, Ep 9) 

Ah the big daddy. If there is another family rivalry amongst the many that we already have, it’s Tankhun and Macau. Or, is it really a rivalry? 

The first insight we get into their relationship is when Tankhun praises Porsche for making Macau’s head bleed. Tankhun is clearly the most vocal about his hatred for the minor family, he doesn’t hesitate to just hit Vegas upside the head with a metal tray so I’m sure there’s not much he wouldn’t do to Macau. This hatred is real. Tankhun likely thinks that the entirety of the minor family is working to usurp the major family and will do so by whatever means necessary. Even if Macau doesn’t particularly have any hands in the family business just yet, the influences from his father and his brother makes him likely to hold those same ideas about the power imbalance (or in the eyes of the minor family, power injustice) between the two families. And to an extent, this is true. Ta does explain that Macau has a dislike towards the major family, but this is because he blames them for his father’s poor treatment of him. He hates the hierarchy and circumstances between the family, the concept of the ‘major’ family. He doesn’t hate the major family, he does not hate his cousins. 

I actually think Macau likes Tankhun in the ‘sometimes I love this cousin, sometimes I want to throw him down a flight of stairs because he bullies me’ type of way. Understand again Macau’s position from the rest of the Theerapanyakul sons, he’s so young. There is a considerable age gap between him, Vegas, Kinn and Tankhun. Even though Kim may be the closest to Macau in age, Kim is evidently a lone wolf and I doubt Macau has since crossed paths with Kim since Kim has gone off on his own. Therefore, there is a generational and maturity gap that isolates Macau from the rest of his family. But Tankhun, his interests and his hobbies such as playing games, watching series and having toys, is the most akin to something a teenage boy would enjoy. Macau is a child asking his older cousin if he wanted to play games together, and doesn’t understand that Tankhun’s constant refusal and insults are anything more than playful older cousin teasing and banter. 

You and Macau, are not worthy to be my sons (Gun, Ep 11)

ooohh he wants to get fucked up so bad, fight me papa gun, FUCKING FIGHT ME. Gun’s continuous grouping of both his sons together as unworthy and incompetent highlights just how he is spiteful towards his sons for the sake of being spiteful. Because ask what can he truly expect from his school-age son to make him ‘worthy’. Sure Macau can excel academically but what more does he possibly want? What does beating the major family even look like? Gun has carved out this hateful perception of hierarchy and unfairness due to chance when in reality, it is entirely self-constructued. The major and minor family can work together if there wasn’t this labelling of ‘major’ and ‘minor’. They could each be powerful families in their own right and yet you know this dichotomy was self-made. They put these labels on themselves and it has created a schism which has led Gun to harbour this destructive hate which he has passed down to, and taken out on his sons. Macau and Vegas have the glass ceiling of being labelled as the ‘minor’ family hanging over them and Gun reinforces the only way to be worthy is to break through when he doesn’t realise Vegas is pushing the ceiling up without breaking it and Macau doesn’t even want to keep his head up his whole life, looking for something that isn’t there, he wants to see the world around him as well. 

You still have Macau. (Pete, Ep 12)

*sobs* I said it before and I’ll say it again, THERE IS ANOTHER LINE FOLLOWING WHICH PETE SAYS ‘AND MACAU LOVES YOU VERY MUCH’ IN THE NOVEL. And this line is so important to me because in the show, we have seen minimal interactions between the sin city brothers that suggest a deeply loving relationship. Yes they do hang out together and Vegas is shown to be fond of Macau but we haven’t seen Macau reciprocate this affection outwardly. But Pete has known the minor family and seen their dynamic for much longer than when the events of the series begin. This means that Pete has seen instances where Macau is loving towards Vegas and this is obvious enough to an outsider. 

Macau is no different. It’s a shame to be born in the minor family. (Vegas, Ep 12) 

Something about Vegas’ response here threw me off when I first heard it. Why does Vegas discount Macau’s love for him so easily when it’s quite painstakingly obvious Macau and Vegas only have each other. And then I realise Vegas is implying Macau is no different from him and from his dad. He was born as part of the minor family and the track record of winning personality competitions is so far none. Vegas knows he’s on a black list and that death is coming from him at the hands of the major family. Hell his father will give throw him to the wolves if it meant saving his own dumb, abusive ass. And once Vegas is out of the picture, his father will force Macau to take up the reins and Vegas will not be there to protect him. If Vegas died at the hands of the main family, Macau’s current neutrality regarding the main family will no longer exist. It will solidify into a deep seated hatred and when Gun forces him to take up the reins of the new heir of the minor family, this rivalry will continue destroying two clans that are meant to be one family. Macau right now appears on the edge of having his insecurities, zero healthy parental figures and excess exposure to violence turn him into a boy with severe issues that he will most likely never be able to resolve or get help for. He will bottle those feelings up until it destroys him. Then his fate will be sealed as a boy born into the minor family. 

Macau is no different. He will grow to become like his father and like his brother. A man filled with resentment and spite. A monster made by the people who were meant to love him. What a shame it is to be born into the minor family.

A sinner like Tankhun wouldn’t be here (Macau, Ep 9)

Why does Macau use the insult ‘sinner’ when Tankhun appears to have the least hands in the family business. Sure Tankhun enjoys using his power and advocating for someone to get shot but he’s never actually shot a person. His punishment to Porsche is very tame compared to Kinn’s punishment. What has Tankhun done to warrant being called a ‘sinner’? My most plausible theory is that Vegas rants to Macau about Tankhun smacking him across the head with a tray and Macau’s like ‘damn what a dick my cousin is to do that to my brother, a real sinner, i hope he never finds inner peace.’ idk lol 

Don’t worry, sometimes I want to hit him too (Vegas, Ep 3)

This I just don’t get. If it was literally any other sibling dynamic, it would be incredibly accurate and realistic. But what throws me off is that Gun is an abusive piece of shit and Vegas loves his brother more than anything. I don’t think Vegas would ever seriously consider hitting Macau, not even playfully because just no. And this makes no sense as a means to butter up to Porsche by downplaying his actions because Porsche himself would never hit Porchay. And Vegas, as the little miracle stalker he is, should know this. So this line makes no sense to me. 

In conclusion, if Macau doesn’t appear in the finale, I will write a very angry letter grr grr

I finally watched Across the Spider-verse yesterday and my gods was it a mistake. This man has me in a fucking chokehold. But noooo, he can't just be a sexy villain, because the universe hates me.

I could write an entire thesis on why Miguel's character is as good as it is, Especially in the context of Miles' personal journey. So, since my mind won't shut up about it, I'll just scream it into the void and make it everybody else's problem as well.

I think what I find the most compelling about Miguel is how, even tho ultimately he's not the main villain of the movie, nor the whole story, he still very much stands out. He doesn't stand out in the same way Spot does tho. He sure as hell is intimidating in his own right but while Spot is just downright horrifying both visually and narrative wise, Miguel stands out simply because he's not Spider Man.

He even says so himself, admits to us that he doesn't feel like Spiderman anymore. And while we're supposed to believe it's because of what he's injecting himself with (most likely Rapture but I also saw an amazing theory on how it was a dampener of sorts for his overly sensitive senses), the truth is that it's because he has lost sight of what it even means to Be Spiderman. All the trauma he went through, the pent up guilt and sorrow, and anger at what he's done and lost completely overshadowed everything else. While he thinks he's doing the right thing ultimately all he's doing is desperately trying to prevent what he went through from happening again and that clouds his judgment.

And the best/worst part is that he's right (to an extent). Because there Are limits to how much you can mess around in the multiverse, there Are lines that you can't cross or the world will unravel at the seams. I mean, he's made that mistake himself. He himself unknowingly became an anomaly when he replaced that other version of himself. And he messed up so many aspects of it, changed so many things with just his presence that ultimately that reality could no longer right itself out anymore so it unraveled instead.

And the worst thing is he didn't pay the price, because he Was the root problem of all of this, instead he watched an entire reality disappear because he dared to try and be happy. How do you cope after experiencing something like that? How do you deal with all that sorrow and guilt? Miguel obviously put two and two together and figured out it was his fault but because of all that unresolved trauma he went from one end of the spectrum to the other.

So instead he became obsessed with this idea that you can't change Anything. You can't touch absolutely anything or things will start falling apart immediately. That there are things that Have to happen whether we want them to or not. He saw how 'every' Spiderman was bitten by a spider, how 'every time' they lost a family member or the captain, and it fit into his perception so perfectly that he didn't even stop to question it.

He didn't even stop to think that maybe it wasn't that these things Had to happen, but because they happened to the same person. Because they are all mirror images of themselves. They represent the same person in each reality. They differ from each other just as their realities differ but they are ultimately all Spiderman.

Miguel's real mistake was confusing correlation with causation.

specifically like, what entities would each character be part of

first off: in my brain this is like, a world in which the powers succeeded at coming into reality, and the different places we see are kind of like.... different domains? but overall less separate than they are in the tma canon, its all sort of a mess. also obv since its a crossover au its quite different from my interpretation of how the ln world works.

PALE CITY

mono/the thin man: obviously my first thought was immediately "EYE" but if you think about it he's WAY more spiral than eye. he can mess with reality, with perception. quite literally he distorts things. he is glitches and time fuckery. 100% spiral

the signal tower is a SpiralxEye mix, with the physical location of the tower itself being a manifestation of the Spiral, while the weird eye flesh thing is an obvious mix of Beholding with a touch of Flesh.

the tower fucks up reality, time and space, its full of impossible geometry and distorted things and time not working right. it wants to confuse and trap you, and unless you know what youre looking for (mono following the music box), ur gonna be running in circles in there forever (like how michael and helen managed to overcome the distortion bc they had maps).

the flesh walls does surveillance, it can watch the whole city through the televisions, it gets people by Knowing what they want most and showing it to them, and eventually pulling them through the TVs and into itself (the Flesh part). it watches the entire city and no one is safe from it.

the city is then mixed Spiral-Beholding domain,  the signal tower spread fear through the city with the transmission, distorting it, and then the flesh wall came in and hijacked it a bit, starting the surveillance.

the doctor: 100% stranger. its mannequins come to life cmon. the people that went to him tho were mostly affected by the flesh, unhappy w their bodies and wanting the doctor to "fix" them (the part of the flesh that deals with body dysmorphia).

hunter: the hunt. obviously

the teacher/school: this one im not sure, but i think Eye? not so much for six and mono who just kind of passed through there, but for the porcelain kids living there. like think about it, theyre all terrified of the teacher bc they know shes watching them and could get them doing something wrong. irl too, the fear of school comes from the paranoia that youre gonna be judged by other students, or Found Out by the teachers. so i like that as my final answer

the viewers: i have no clue tbh. they could be so much. they have both the eye and the spiral hypnotizing them, they fit the stranger cuz well theyre fucking weird, the whole hive mind thing they appear to have going on and the lack of free will reminds me of the web, and the mindless violence is very slaughter? i actually rlly liked the slaughter answer bc the tvs, the things hypnotizing them, are often playing music which is a common way the slaughter manifests? but that would mean tvs are slaughter ON TOP of everything else so idk

THE MAW

obviously its the flesh. theres not much going on in here besides cannibalism. Six, the chefs and the guests are also flesh.

shadow six could be a manifestation of the spiral, it Was created in the signal tower after all. its there to make six question her sanity. six's hunger exists for the same reason as it does in game (surviving the tower when people Definitely are not supposed to made her lose part of herself, like her spirit or soul or whatever, and so her physical body not being able to process something metaphysical like that, seeks to fill that empty space somehow. hm losing a part of your Self after surviving an encounter with an avatar is a thing that happens in the podcast actually, georgie and her fear. its kind of like that)

the lady tho, initially id say shes flesh too since she runs the place, but idk how much she actually... does? the maw seems to have its own force going on, shes just kind of there. strolled in one day and said Hey I Rule This Now and everyone just went Sure. and she herself doesnt seem to have much interest in the whole cannibalism thing going on? she doesnt Partake she just oversees it. I think the lady fits the dark very well, she can disappears into shadows or even kind manipulate them. she also fits the end since she literally has the power so suck life force out of ppl. which is probably how she survives, like that one statement giver who kept dying and stealing ppl lives. WAIT I JUST READ HER WIKI PAGE AGAIN AND SHES DESCRIBED AS "CASTING A HYPNOTIC SPELL THAT KEEPS [THE MAW] RUNNING" THATS SO WEB. theres so many possibilities aaaaaa. wait i have an idea.

"The Lady has been in The Maw for a long time. She’s learned all sorts of unpleasant things during her residence. It’s best that we don’t scratch the surface.". what if she's like mary or leitner? she has a huge fuck off library, which might be where she learned so many things from. she could be someone (maybe an avatar of the web) that learned how to use abilities of all the fears without falling into them. which is why she can sap out people's life like The End, manipulate shadows like The Dark, rule a domain of the Flesh, watch over people with the Eye (the cameras and overall eye imagery) etc. i really like that actually.

the janitor: idk stranger? he works at the maw but he also doesnt seem part of the whole cannibalism thing. hes mostly portrayed as a creepy guy (not in a great way bc the game is just like. wow look how weird blind people are with the way they. are blind. but it does end up being all he does in the game). plus he has dolls

runaway kid wasnt part any fears; he was just a victim.

more random stuff:in general, the way the game makes the kids really small and everything else really really huge to show just how powerless they are is like, capital v Vast. the nest is a domain of the stranger but idk enough about the lore of that place to ascribe fears to indiviual characters. also i havent read the comics in a while but i might do that at some point and then ill give fears for those characters too. thats all i thought of i think
