Fic where Tony survives the snap but loses his arm. It takes him a long time to recover, and Peter still has to go through everything with Beck and Strange. The reason Stark Industries isn't around to help him much is because Pepper and Morgan are completely off the grid with Tony, helping him recover in Wakanda (Peter would still be there too, but he had school and May -- Happy went with to keep him safe).

Now, May is dead, everyone's memories are gone, and Peter is completely alone. Or so he thinks.

In fact, the stones didn't just take Tony's arm. They changed him on a fundamental level. He is now basically immune to magic -- it slides right off of him, like water off his armor. So when everyone around him goes from promising that Peter is probably okay to not knowing who Peter is, he knows immediately that something is very, very wrong.

He doesn't care that he's "still severely medically compromised" and "possibly suffering from delusions please Dr. Stark would you stay in bed-." He's recovered for long enough. Now it's time to find his kid.

Bonus:

After all the hurt/comfort that this fic rightfully deserves, Tony discovers that there are definitely a few more perks to being immune to magic.

Hello tumblr world. I still lurk! I still read your asks! I still read your messages! I still struggle with work-life balance and anxiety/depression in a draining capitalist society when I would rather hide in the woods and write until the sun explodes (which might be soon)!

That being said, I received the most lovely notification this morning of the most incredible fanvid that was made of Ignition. One of my incredible readers (alicewinter_ao3) has been taking on the immense task of translating the entire story into Russian and this video came as a result of their efforts! The edits and the attention to tiny details from the fic are so insanely well done, I had to share it here.

Funny story: I had actually opened up ignition last night and wrote about a thousand words. First time in forever. Then, this morning, I wake up to this.

Steve and Bucky return the infinity stones together, and they go to see Peggy in the 1940s.

She sees the subtle lines on their faces, around their eyes, and she knows that they’re somehow from a different time to the one she’s living in.

She smiles, their slightly visible laughter lines and the way they look at each other being proof enough that they’ve found happiness in their lives, despite everything they’ve gone through.

She hugs them both tightly before they leave, “I’m glad you finally get the time you deserve.”

And then, they return to the present, ready for their new beginning.

Together.

It was an endgame fix-it of sorts with stucky but the mcu Steve did what he did (still hate that part) and then there was another Steve send to that universe who's Bucky took the JUMP on Vormir. It takes a while for Bucky to get over his hurt but If i remember correctly they figure it out and old Steve does some weird shit too. So If anyone read that too and happened to save it i would be eternal grateful! I tried everything i can think of to find it again.

The Big One

So.

I’ve managed to get myself back into an MCU mindset, and have decided The Time Has Come to start working on my master fix-it fic. Or rather, what’s going to become my master fix-it fic series.

The to-do list so far includes:

-Natasha comes back after Steve returns the Soul Stone, but thanks to time travel screwiness she pops back into the Compound with everyone else and participates in the final battle against Thanos

-Tony still sacrifices himself, BUT! Another version of him, from a timeline where they lost the final fight and Thanos decided to be petty by erasing the entire human race from existence except Tony, gets brought to this universe a couple years later. Supposedly the two are nearly identical up to that fight, so he’s more than a little alarmed when no one recognizes the name Peter Parker

-Steve puts all the Stones back and comes home, passes on the shield to Sam, and moves on with his life instead of that bullshit ending that made no damn sense for his characterization

(-I have yet to watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier, so I dunno what will or won’t remain the same with those two, but I can promise There Will Be Shenanigans)

-WandaVision mostly plays out as per canon, but dagnabit, I want my Scarlet Witch to remain a superhero and a decent person. So! She stumbles across America Chavez, they find a universe where Agatha won and kept Billy and Tommy around as pets/servants, kick her ass, and bring the boys back with them to start a new life

-Eventually Vision will return as well, with newly constructed Viv as a peace offering. The twins are quite taken with their android sister and immediately start figuring out the best ways to get into trouble together

-May Parker receives medical attention soon enough to survive her wounds, albeit in a coma; Peter can’t legally visit her in the hospital but sneaks in a few times as Spider-man, and I promise I’ll eventually have her wake up for their tearful reunion, just gotta get through a few other things first

-Back to Tony: it’s a little awkward, feeling like he’s taking over another man’s life, but Morgan’s delighted by this turn of events and that’s really hard for anyone else to argue with. Even so, as grateful as he is to get his family back, Tony can’t help but feel frantic over what the heck happened to his other kid. The photo of him and Peter is still in the kitchen, and Pepper recognizes it when he shows her, knows that it’s been there ever since they moved into the house, but she has no clue who the kid is

-Eventually we get a big family reunion style event with all the Avengers and spouses and kids, new and old, and from there find a way to bring Peter back into the fold with a handy dandy loophole to restore memories of him at the same time. There will be fluff. There will be tears. There will be old characters and extra ones, a few gratuitous mentions and some background cameos, and I’ll find a way to wrap it all up with a big bow

-With an Epilogue, of course, featuring my Champions kids, because they’ve given us a fantastic Kamala Khan and I need to build on that

There’s a thin figure in a light jacket, sitting with its back turned, looking out at the water. The shield, round and whole again, is propped up against the bench by its side.

They walk forward toward the figure, who from the back looks a little old, a little bent, and Sam looks uncertainly at Bucky. Smiling with a confidence he doesn’t feel, Bucky jerks his head toward the figure. “Go on,” he says.

When they get closer, the figure turns his head, and a jolt races through Bucky’s gut.

Bucky passes over the unscented soap from one of their wash kits while rinsing the last of the lather out of his hair, head tipped to the side. The shower is big enough for two but Bucky keeps softly bumping into him, passing over the shampoo that Steve could’ve easily reached before turning the heat up a little and rolling his left shoulder, rubbing along where the muscles in his back end at the edge of the dark metal. The scarring is less than—and his mind serves up the few terrible blank-eyed photographs he’d found that Bucky wouldn’t have wanted anyone to see. Marks still run along the seam of skin and metal, though turned pale now rather than livid. And anger expands like the blast of a tripped mine tearing into him because where is the justice in any of—

But Bucky is letting him see all this.

And it’s on Steve to do right by what he’s been trusted with, best as he can. So he looks at the whole beautiful span of Bucky’s back: the width of his shoulders; the swooping curve of his shoulder blades, partly restored with such care in metal on his injured side; the subtle muscles that wrap around his ribs in hints and shadows; and the long sweet dip of Bucky’s spine that Steve lightly sets his thumb to and traces up, slow and careful, to rest the touch at the nape of Bucky’s neck like marking the place for when Steve shifts forward to press his lips there, contact that’s not even a kiss.

I posted a while ago about my thoughts on Steve's ending, but my focus then was on what I thought would have happened to him in his new timeline, so I kinda glossed over how I thought his ending should actually have played out in canon.

I thought I'd rectify that now, because I have given this a lot of thought over the years, but I can't see it ever making it's way into one of my fics (mostly because it's not very Stucky and I don't write anything else), so...

Imagine, if you will, canon begins...

Steve is off to return the stones. He knows it's going to take him a while, even if he'll technically arrive back mere seconds after he left. He gives Bucky a hug, because he doesn't know when he'll next get the chance to, and he's spent too many years without him not to make the most of every moment.

He tells Bucky not to do anything stupid, because he thinks he's being funny. After all, he'll only be gone five seconds.

We diverge...

Bucky does not tell him he's going to miss him, because Bucky doesn't know that he will.

Steve disappears...

Back to canon...

Steve does not reappear.

Sam panics. Bucky does not. Bucky simply turns away, after all, he's already lost so much, he's not even surprised that after everything that's happened he's going to lose Steve too.

Then he sees a figure on a bench and even from behind, he knows who it is.

And now we fix it...

Bucky alerts Sam and they walk over to him together.

Sam asks, "So did something go wrong or did something go right?"

Steve holds up his shattered Time-Space GPS and tells him, "A bit of both."

He goes on to briefly explain that it got damaged while he was returning the final stone, that Howard couldn't fix it and it took a couple of years for Tony to work it out, what with him not having quite been born yet.

So, given that he couldn't get back, he figured why not try some of that life Tony was telling him to get.

(And, once again, the man out of time made the most of the hand he'd been dealt and rebuilt his life in the world he'd been dropped into.)

And to be honest, the rest is fine pretty much how it is in canon.

Steve gives Sam the shield, knowing that Bucky has fought enough, and Bucky nods his approval and that's that.

Only, when Sam asks about the ring and Steve refuses to answer, I reckon I'd throw in a knowing look from Bucky, because he doesn't need Steve to say it out loud to know who put that ring on his finger and he's happy for him. Genuinely.

And there you have it. My barely even a fix-it fix-it.

Honestly, the most annoying part is that it really wouldn't have taken much. A few words here and there before the same ultimate conclusion and just like that they could have saved Steve's character.

(And finally there's my personal post-Endgame headcanon that, whilst Steve may be old, thanks to the serum he's still startlingly healthy and therefore has a good few decades left in him for movie nights and grumpy old man bitching sessions with Bucky & Sam)

Another one that I somehow haven't posted about yet! There are so many!

This is an Endgame fix-it with a bucket full of grief and an absolute tsunami of eventual comfort.

After the battle, Peter is still reeling from the fact that Tony is gone when he learns that May is also gone. She died when the snap happened, but she wasn't directly snapped, so she isn't coming back.

In this story, the whole Ironfam was a lot closer pre-snap than we get to see in canon. Peter goes home with Pepper and Morgan, and they all grieve a lot, and it hurts a lot for a while.

But, all is not as it seems. My bestie Tony Stark is coming back.
