but were separated because of their century’s heaviest war,

just for one of them to end up mutilated and lost

while the other found themselves fighting for someone who was actually just exploiting them

and who they had to betray in order to set their lover free,

while proving to the audience their love through a sort of wedding vow that the fandom unanimously recognizes as an iconic line,

then proceeding to be reunited some time later

just for the writers to break them up at the end,

while still exploiting the love between them either for drama or to enhance other storylines,

leaving the fandom to wonder if the hints dropped in time were just random or actual confirmation of their love/happy ending,

I’d have two nickels.

Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice right?

as garbage as civil war was, it really set up steves disillusionment with cap and his lack of need for the mantle, SHIELD, hell even the actual shield, leading into infinity war and endgame and that would have been the perfect time to focus on developing sams character as the new captain america for more than a three second scene instead of. groot fortnite dancing and taco bell or whatever

Rip to the person who will enter the Stucky/cap quartet tag with no knowledge of the original material and will find this beautiful and gigantic amount of fanfics and fanarts of two gays in love and their tired yet supportive besties.

This poor person will think that the actual material is like this, and will happily go into Marvel movies just to discover that:

- the happy and gay pookies of the fics and fanarts are actually 50% angst and 50% queer baiting

- their redhead bestie is traumatized and currently dead because of a rock

- their male bestie is actually the only one who’s good in both canon and fanon characterization BUT is severely and unfairly underrated (ilysm Sam Wilson)

- the found family is literally the blond guy being friends with everyone and the rest barely interacting with each other to some extent

- there’s at least 4 other characters getting in the way of the pookies, and their fanon characterizations are far better than their canon ones (I’m looking at you, Tony Stark and Peggy Carter)

I don’t know anyone who lived this traumatic experience, but lord help anyone who might enter the fanon heaven just to find the train wreck that is the MCU.

Let’s Ramble About Steggy

Y’all, I’m really missing the emotional journey of Peggy’s in EG: last time we see her, she’s still fragile over his loss (and tbh, I know she let him go, but I can’t imagine she’d ever stopped loving him more than learned to move on, and there’s plenty of evidence to support that). I want to see the moment she completely falls apart. I want to see the shock, the surprise, the gentle way he comes back—and for heaven’s sake, I want to see him go back!!

Rogers: the Musical is my most favorite thing ever, and their reunion is so precious; but when I saw it in person, I was waiting for her to run up and hug him. I know it’s theater and they couldn’t do that with the buildup and the story they were telling; and I love it the way it is. But I do wish we could get an actual, realistic telling of it. …Hey Marvel, I know it’s a tender, private moment, but could you hire Marcus and McFeely back for just a moment to do a six episode series on Steve returning the stones? Ending with what led up to that dance? Please?

(Though honestly, you should probably go read Dancing at Last by @melliabee. Her telling so so precious and tender and loving, and even though she has an apartment instead of a house in this, it’s the most accurate and detail-oriented telling I’ve ever read.)
