Me: *reading a post that makes the joke “Peeta dropped the baby bomb, Gale drops bombs on babies”* haha good one
Also me: you’re missing the point! You’re missing the point! YOURE MISSING THE POINT! He grew up starving. His best friend almost died of hunger. Most of his people live in poverty. He watched children die in a bloodbath every year for the capital’s entertainment. The girl he loved went into the games. Was tortured by the capitol. His district was bombed out of existence. Nearly everyone he knew was killed. Their only crime was being fed up of being hungry and oppressed and sharing the same district as Katniss. All those innocent people. Murdered. He had to take refuge in a district that was bombed out of existence and forced to live underground. Of course he joined the war effort. Of course he designed unethical bombs and battle tactics. He wanted revenge. He wanted the capitol to have a taste of their own medicine. He wanted the rebellion to succeed. And tell me you could live through what he did, and that no part of you would be screaming for Justice and vengeance. Gale is you. You are Gale. He represents a part of feelings and actions that reside within us, even if you don’t act on it.
“But he killed prim!” Exactly! Gale loved prim. She was a second family to her. He looked after Katniss’ family. He saved them from the district 12 bombings. He loved her. He never would’ve put her in danger. He never would’ve put in order for a bombing if it would kill Prim. But coin would. And did. She took what was meant to be a tool of Gale’s righteous revenge for all the suffering he and his people suffered through, only for someone in power to take it and use it to kill someone he loved.
There’s some many lessons to take. We can’t control the things we create. War spares no one. Even justifiable rage and actions can end up rebounding and hurting those you love instead of your targets.
“He drops bombs on babies” is too simplistic of a takeaway and does a disservice to the story and Gale.

The amount of people who are salty because Gortash doesn't look like a 20yo twink in reddit is killing me.
They say that Ketheric describes him as young and etc like do you people ever take a look at Ketheric? The man is a fucking fossil ofc he describes Gortash as young ffs
Gortash sent Karlach to hell 10 years ago, and by then he was an established man considering the amount of respect Karlach had for him. He is human and is at least 35. He is most likely much older I don't know the exact timeline. He spent his childhood in fucking hell ofc it took a toll on this man's looks and he still looks better than the pale reddittors I bet.

No One Owes You
I saw a post in the AO3 group on FB saying someone commented on their fanfic saying that they shouldn't promise something when they can't deliver because the author had been having a hard time updating their fic.
It sucks when you have to wait on a new chapter and you're really invested in a story but NO. ONE. IN. THE. FANFIC. COMMUNITY. OWES. YOU. THEIR. TIME.
It's hard juggling fics when there are other things in life. Work, school, obligations that require an author to do as such (may it be if they are a caretaker, parent, etc), and mental health is a huge factor. No one can anticipate 100% when something can be updated if it's 1: a hobby, and 2: they have lives.
Not everyone lives in a basement constantly reading and typing all day.
Mental health is a HUGE thing here and it's additionally hard when motivation is a struggle, especially for those with say, ADHD and depression. A LOT of authors deal with mental health and writing is their outlet, but struggling with motivation happens.
TLDR; LIFE HAPPENS AND IT DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND YOU!
So just don't be a shallow jack-off to the authors. People are trying their best.
It just sort of rustled my jimmies because I saw a few posts by that point of authors receiving crap comments like those. Like, your life, mental health, and wellbeing is so important and much more important than a fic. Most of the time, people don't even get paid for it; they do it because it's fun, comforting, and/or they look to hone in and improve on their skill. It's entertainment for the reader; no one is saving lives here.

no but lucy's little 'sarge im gonna die on this list,' had me genuinely tearing up, like she deserves that promotion more than anyone at that station, but its always everyone else who moves up
while im mad abt it, i appreciate them showing the reality of a woman in a proffesion like hers, they are misogynistic towards her, they're overly critical of her, they severely underestimate her and its not gonna come easy, i just hope they follow through and show lucy fighting for what she rightly deserves.

I’m about to share a very hot take regarding the writing of Stolas’s character, mainly Vivziepop’s gay characters so I hope people bear with me on this. I thing the biggest issue regarding characters like Stolas and Blitz is just how sensitive the writers and fandom are, and this has to do with the fact that most of them are part of the LGBTQ+ community. Representation is especially important to the people of that community, so when they see a character in media that is part of said community but is portrayed as “bad”, that’s not a good thing to them, because nobody wants to see a gay character being painted in a negative light right?
Remember when some fans immediately thought Angel Dust was offensive because they assumed he was in hell for being gay, therefore thinking Vivzie was problematic because of that? It’s like that. The writers of Helluva Boss and the fandom are exactly like that, they’re sensitive. They can’t fathom the fact or EMBRACE the fact that you make gay characters problematic. You can make gay characters awful people. You can make gay characters unapologetic and you shouldn’t be afraid to or scared of ruffling some feathers or getting cancelled. That’s why Viv and the Helluva writers insist on making Blitz and Stolas good deep down because we can’t have gay characters be bad! God forbid or someone might get the wrong message! That’s why Blitz and Stolas always feel like they’re never in the wrong, and the fandom applauds them every time, because they’re gay icons to this community. That’s why Striker to Viv is a masculine bigot apparently because he’s straight, that’s why Stella is evil because she’s discriminative, and we need to have our powerful “go girl” LGBTQ+ themes!
And this is why I never act like I have respect for the Helluva writers because they’re just…….cowards. They play it safe. They’re SO scared of going all the way, going that extra mile and actually making these characters the BAD FLAWED PEOPLE they’re claimed to be, and the fandom never helps because god forbid you call these “flawed” characters actually flawed and then you’re suddenly homophobic. Got it. Some of y’all need to grow a pair, Viv needs to grow a pair, her writing team needs to grow a pair, and some of y’all in the LGBTQ+ community need to grow a pair, because I want the representation too, but that doesn’t mean we need to portray all gay characters as uwu babies. In the words of this twitter user:

Something that really bothers me with The Hunger Games is how readily some people dismiss the fact that there's romance in the books at all in some weird attempt to make it sound better. The old 'oh it's really a story about revolution, shame ppl focus on the boring love triangle' 'oh it gets dismissed bc of the love story but it's actually really deep.'
Y'know, as if admitting that one of the core themes is love and human connections somehow makes it a lesser thing. As if it's not the whole point of the books that our lives can't just be about surviving from one day to the next, that we need to live for more than just rebellion and anger and trying to put food on the table. As if our entire human race can't even EXIST without relationships in one form or another.
Can we just not pls k thnx
(This isn't limited to THG, it's just something I see happen a lot with this series in particular.)

I get so frustrated when you deal with "oh you can't take a joke" type of people. If it was funny I would laugh. Most of the time they just want to be rude and they try calling it a joke to make it ok.
It's not ok. You're just being a dick.

The fact that of all instruments, Loid chose to see Anya's potential in music through a violin drives me insane. The violin is one of the hardest instruments to learn, and even harder to master a good sound for beginners. Among my co-students we had a joke that went something like "When a child is on their first year on the violin, their entire family suffers" because most first-year violin students (unless they're like, prodigies or something) need about a year to achieve a sound that sounds like music and not like nails on a chalkboard. Even people who eventually become professional violinists are pretty terrible on their first year.
And aside from the difficulty of producing a good sound, there's the thing about the violin (along with the other string instruments of that section, viola, cello and double bass) being a fretless instrument. There are no frets separating the neck in "notes". That means that you only learn where each note is by practice and muscle memory.
Tumblr media
In comparison, guitars - also string instruments, but of a different classification since they don't use bows - have frets.
Tumblr media
(that doesn't mean that the guitar is a much easier instrument to learn or play. But you can clearly tell where each note is - though you still have to practice a lot before you can confidently play without counting the frets each time)
WHAT I'M SAYING IS, when introducing children of that age into playing music you usually start with percussion instruments to give them the hands-on experience of "I hit this and it makes a sound. I hit it differently and it makes a different sound". If the child wants to pick up a more demanding instrument... at least you need some patience as a caretaker and an instructor. My boi Loid gave up after a few minutes of Anya simply exploring the instrument.
Now, I understand this was done for humorous purposes, Anya did overdramatically break the strings after all, and to show that Twilight was so stressed for time that he forgot that kids need time to learn and develop a skill. He has the same reaction with Anya being normal for her age at drawing and gymnastics, too. Especially with the gymnastics thing - just like he gave her a violin and expected her to play fucking Paganini or whatever, he had her try jumping on a vault, then Yor came and suggested something more appropriate and achievable for a beginner her age, jumping rope.
Still, I'm going to raise my snooty nose and take this as a headcanon that, finally, we were shown something Twilight genuinely doesn't know shit about. He knows to take the family to the opera to make them appear upper-class, but he doesn't know how one learns music. I mean, that's okay. He's perfect in pretty much all other specialties, he can afford being shitty at one.

not my usual flavour of posting, but I'm getting really pissed off at the amount of people taking Kurt Cobain quotes wildly out of context and going "if not secretly trans woman, why he wear dress???"
hey uh please dont "headcanon" or speculate on dead peoples' genders or sexualities, especially celebrities. it's disrespectful. they're not alive to say what they were. don't speak for them. because hey??? if you forcibly "out" someone on false pretenses (aka you don't actually fucking know) you're a shitty person!
it doesn't make you an "ally," it makes you a fucking weirdo fetishist. and i guarantee you that your LGBTQ2S+ friends don't actually feel safer around you with you doing that!! if you're like that about dead people, you are absolutely that way about living people too.
It's different for instances like Walt Whitman, Virginia Woolf, and Oscar Wilde because people academic scholars have actually found proof of same-sex affairs and relationships held by these people and people like them.
It's also different for people like David Bowie (who admitted openly in interviews his sexuality), a lot of members of The Runaways were also not straight, Freddie Mercury was bisexual!!!!
STOP. SPECULATING. THEY ARE DEAD! Get off the internet and touch some fucking grass.
