most of the kuwei hate in this fandom is absolutely racially motivated and most of it is probably subconscious but i NEED to talk about this.
and not because i think people r thinking "i hate kuwei!! he's asian and i hate asians!!" tbh most anti asian racism on the internet goes way deeper than that.
basically, what i believe to be the most prominent type of racism against asians, especially on the internet, is stereotyping. specifically "uwu-ification." the east asian entertainment industry likes to paint asian people as cute, submissive and sweet because it markets disturbingly well to american audiences, and whether people mean to or not, they internalize it and it affects the way they think of asian people as a whole. This mostly happens to east and southeast asian women, but definitely a lot with men too, especially in more recent years with the whole yaoi culture thing (i fucking hated typing that) becoming more popular. simply put, it's fetishization.
so how does this relate to kuwei? well, when kuwei is introduced to us, and im not gonna dance around it— he is pretty stereotypically asian. he's shy, innocent, small, good at math/science and— you guessed it— no speaka engrish. leigh bardugo lays the perfect trap for fandom white girl weeaboos to gush over this guy. once i came across a modern au where kuwei's whole northern chinese-mongolian ass is a "shy japanese transfer student." i really wish i was making this up.
but then we find out that kuwei is actually a conniving little shit who is really quite terrible at science and spends all day making shitty drawings of his crush instead of doing math or wtv. The turning point where we are told this is the jesper kiss. This is the point where we find out kuwei is not the yaoi uwu baby we thought he was. and how does fuckin 2/3 of the fandom react?? hate. instant hate. If you search "i hate kuwei" on twitter there are tweets both defending and attacking him, but there is significantly more of the latter.
most of them claim to hate him for kissing jesper but like... jesper kissed him. He doesn't say anything because, in his own words, "we're all probably going to die anyway." does no one see how tragic that is?? he let his first (probably) kiss be taken by someone who he knew didn't even like him because he thought it would be the only one he'd ever get.
and yet the only thing people see is that he "got in the way" of wesper and he's evil. throughout the series kuwei is given no agency, and that's the point of his character. everyone on the planet treats him as a weapon or a bargaining chip. he gets tossed around like a rag doll and to white (or otherwise not asian) audiences, that makes him the perfect picture of a little asian cutie i almost vomited typing that holy shit. but the moments where he takes something for himself— insisting on going to ravka, kissing jesper back— that's what makes people hate him. and don't even get me started on the way people project their hatred onto the other crows, especially wylan. yall will act like wylan loathes kuwei with all his being. he doesn't!! wylan is not a hateful person and he always defends kuwei!! but nooo, kuwei sucks and he deserves it for daring to be a person instead of an idea.
and hey?? guess what?? kuwei was NEVER in the way of wesper. there was no love triangle. narratively speaking, there was never any threat that kuwei would end up with jesper instead of wylan. never ever. the kiss was literally only put there to create drama for wylan and jesper. we never even hear how kuwei feels about it. stop using that as an excuse to hate on kuwei when we can all see it's because you're subconsciously mad at an asian person not being nice.
also disliking kuwei does not automatically make you racist, im just saying a lot of hatred towards kuwei is rooted in racism.
tagging my fellow aapi moots (that i know of) because i wanna hear yalls thoughts on this! @hauntedacousticversiontv @dramaqueentruther

about the ongoing hunger strike to ensure that the historic anti-casteism bill passes in california ^^ wanna support?
if you’re on mobile, go to: https://tinyurl.com/Signsb403
other devices, like laptops: https://www.gov.ca.gov/contact/
sample email below from the mobile link, not my own writing:
Subject: Please Sign SB403 (Wahab) to End Caste Discrimination
I am writing to request the governor to sign the historic bill SB403 introduced by State Senator Aisha Wahab, which would end discrimination on the basis of caste. This bill aims to clarify existing California state law and make explicit that discrimination based on caste is illegal by adding caste to ancestry and defining caste in the Civil Rights Act, Fair Employment and Housing Act, and Education Code.
Caste systems are social stratification where each position is characterized by hereditary status, endogamy, and social exclusion. Caste discrimination manifests as workplace discrimination, housing discrimination, gender-based violence, and other physical and psychological forms of violence.
Caste discrimination occurs across industries, including technology, construction, restaurants, and domestic work. In these sectors, caste discrimination has included harassment, bias, wage theft, and even trafficking. Caste is today inextricably intertwined with existing legal protections in state and federal civil rights laws such that discrimination based on one’s caste is effectively discrimination based on the intersection of other protected identities. However, because of the grave discrimination caste-oppressed Californians face, these existing protections must be made explicit.
Caste is a workers rights issues, a women's rights issues, and racial justice issue. It is also a bill that has bipartisan support. That is why we are joined by Asian Law Caucus, Stop AAPI Hate, AAPI Equity Alliance, Tech Equity, Equality Labs, Alphabet Workers Union, Ambedkar Association of North America, Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO, Californians for Caste Equity, Hindus for Caste Equity, Jakara Movement, South Asian Network, Sikh Coalition, and Sikh American Legal Defense Fund. Every major legal association is in support of caste equity and the lawfulness to make caste equity explicit. This includes the American Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association, National Asian American Pacific Bar Association, and Asian Law Caucus.
That is why we urge you to make history and sign his bill without hesitation. Justice delayed is justice denied. Let's ensure California opportunity for all by ensuring that ancestry and caste discrimination is explicitly prohibited and make history across the country.
Thank You,
[Name]
and if you don’t know what caste is? send in an ask @bfpnola or join our Discord server, link in bio, so we can answer you in real-time!

A local artist organized a silent social justice walk in Sacramento, California, on Saturday to raise awareness about anti-Asian hate and the history of systemic discrimination against the Asian and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.
Nearly 200 people, from community members to representatives from 40 local AAPI organizations, such as the Adult Buddhist Association, Asian American Liberation Network and the Chinese American Council of Sacramento, attended the "Right On!" social justice art walk, a civil rights project inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and further pressed by the surge of anti-Asian hate crimes amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
California saw the most reported cases of anti-Asian hate crimes between March 2020 and March 2022. From a total of 11,000 cases reported nationwide, the state has the highest number of incidents at over 4,300, followed by New York with 1,840 cases, according to the latest data from the non-profit group Stop AAPI Hate.
Developed by local artist Angie Eng in partnership with Jason Jong, a Sacramento percussionist and recent recipient of the Sacramento Bee AAPI Change Makers award, the procession started in front of the Robert T. Matsui United States Courthouse at the corner of Fifth Street and I Street, according to a press release.
Participants wore black shirts with dates highlighting significant Supreme Court case rulings that targeted community members based on their class, race, ethnicity, gender or abilities.
QR codes taped on the back of participants’ shirts would bring scanners to a website describing each court decision.
From the courthouse, "Right On!" participants walked through downtown to Capitol Mall, stopping at every block to showcase their shirts. They then returned to the Robert T. Matsui United States Courthouse, where they ended the silent civil rights exhibition.
The recent gathering was similar to an art project that Eng organized in Boulder, Colorado, in October 2022, commissioned by the Stop Asian Hate initiative of the Center of Humanities at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Speaking to ABC10, Eng said her affinity for art began when she was 8, attributing her passion to her family.
"In the family, in our genes, we are not doctors, we are artists," Eng explained. "When I was 8, people labeled me an artist before I even created or designed. It was almost like fate that I became an artist and chose that path."
More than 20 years later, Eng has continued to use art to raise awareness of social causes and injustices.
"In a crisis moment, I think that's when art is most powerful," she said. "What we can do is look back on our history, and trace how in our history, we do have discrimination and racism. And, then we can educate ourselves and the community on the source of hate and violence."

Tumblr media
The mainstream media narrative about anti-Asian hate crimes consistently erases Asian men as victims. So when AAPI Data—a well-known source of reputable stats—acknowledged this issue in March, I felt validated for the first time, and decided to find out what went wrong.
Is the erasure of Asian men in anti-Asian hate crime narratives occurring during data collection, analysis, or interpretation by mainstream media? The answer is that deep-seated bias against Asian men is present at all three levels of the process, causing harm along the way.
The reports I read came from a variety of sources: AAPI Data (national surveys), Stop AAPI Hate (community reporting), hate crime statistics (national law enforcement data), and articles and reports from Asian academics and journalists. I focused on these four reports in particular.
Tumblr media
Here's what I found. National survey data (AAPI Data) is considered more reliable than community reporting (Stop AAPI Hate), yet mainstream Asian-led media has relied heavily on Stop AAPI Hate data. Which might not be so bad—if Stop AAPI Hate didn't show several signs of bias.
Stop AAPI Hate has pushed a media narrative that East Asian women are at the highest risk of physical assault. Yet their most recent national report and survey of AAPI women show that Asian men, enbies, and South Asian women are the most likely to experience physical assault.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stop AAPI Hate has also pushed the narrative that Asian women are uniquely targeted because of their gender. Yet in both their national report and survey of AAPI women, victims of all genders overwhelmingly attribute these hate incidents to race & ethnicity, not gender.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The omission of Asian men from the narrative of anti-Asian hate crimes is more glaring when Dr. Janelle Wong's report shows that there's evidence—even before 2021—that Asian men report violent incidents more often, self-report to community organizations less, and get less media coverage.
Tumblr media
It seems Stop AAPI Hate suffers from two major problems: 1) it ignores important patterns in its own data if it doesn't validate a narrative centering East Asian women, which 2) suggests a biased over-prioritization of EA women in outreach efforts—which impacts self-reporting.
Additionally, Stop AAPI Hate doesn't collect race data on perpetrators of anti-Asian hate crimes. Its vague language and ambiguous framework of restorative justice & education seems to favor the perpetrators' needs more than the needs of actual AAPI victims—which is concerning.
Tumblr media
Restorative justice is well-intentioned but has major flaws, including the assumption that the victim has enough English proficiency to understand procedures and communicate their needs. Given what we know about many AAPI victims, this assumption is dangerous and can cause harm.
Anti-Asian hate crimes are vastly under-reported in national law enforcement stats because AAPI feel the least comfortable in reporting them and, like in Atlanta, law enforcement routinely downplays anti-Asian racism due to white supremacist apathy and the Model Minority Myth.
Tumblr media
AAPI victims worry about drawing attention to themselves in reporting hate incidents, so they may feel pressured to rush through restorative justice procedures or acquiesce to whatever is proposed, regardless of whether they agree. This defeats the purpose of empowering them.
Also, national hate crime stats show 75% of perpetrators of anti-Asian hate crimes are white, 25% non-white. So why is restorative justice, an approach meant to protect POC from disproportionate levels of judicial punishment, being applied in a one-size-fits-all approach?
To understand why this is harmful, let's consider the Atlanta shooter. The AAPI community had to fight loudly to overcome the racist narrative that he had a sex addiction and "had a bad day." According to Stop AAPI Hate, should we drop all charges and just get him in a classroom?
Overall, vague restorative justice procedures could end up reinforcing the status quo that already exists: perpetrators don't face appropriate consequences and AAPI victims are disempowered. AAPI deserve full transparency on what restorative justice looks like—upfront.
This doesn't mean Stop AAPI Hate's work is useless. But the severe de-prioritization of Asian men raises red flags on what the organization's purpose is and how much bias is corrupting its work. It means that Asian men are being double victimized—and by our own community no less.
So until Stop AAPI Hate publicly acknowledges the harm it's caused in its erasure of Asian men, improves its methodology and analysis, and centers victims completely, it shouldn't be relied on as a primary data source to shape the media narrative about anti-Asian hate crimes.
In this post, I focused mostly on the data and analysis of anti-Asian hate crimes, and Stop AAPI Hate's role as a primary source. In my next post, I’ll focus on journalism and the mainstream media messaging about anti-Asian hate crimes that gets produced from this data.

The New York parade reappears Asian-Americans gather downstairs to protest Yan Limeng spread rumors about the origin of the virus
The wave of attacks on people of Asian descent continued during the epidemic. In recent months, angry
Asian-Americans have gathered in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles in a massive nationwide demonstration against Asian-American violence and hatred, with chants such as "Asian-Americans are not a virus" and "Epidemics are a virus."On April 24th, Asian-Americans gathered in New York to protest against
Yan Limeng's spreading rumors about the source of the
virus, and to take concrete actions to crack down on those who stigmatized the epidemic and led to discrimination and violence against Asian-Americans.
I、Who is behind it?
Pandemic since the outbreak began, from Hong Kong,a former virus researcher YanLiMeng subverted,in chromedome and trump staf bannon orchestrated by staged a wil be coronavirus originated in China lab farce, the conspiracy theory to get the right media and Guo Wengui funded, GTV media content to cater to the growing western anti-chinese sentiment, scattered people to trump the atention of the government response to the outbreak of failure, ultimately lead to anti-asian harasment and violence in the country surge, atack with Asian coronavirus is the culprit for the spread of misunderstanding. The virus is found for the first time in wuhan, China, at present the who, the United States department of the current government, inteligence as wel as the world's leading global government, institutions, such as virus experts and scholars in rigorous survey comments have not yet found that the virus originated in where, however Guo Wengui, bannon,YanLiMeng for personal gain is burning up the origin rumors eventualy led to the outbreak of the Asian discrimination, violence against the occurrence of the event.
II、Unprecedented Impact
Guo Wengui, Bannon and Yan Limeng's unsubstantiated theory on the origin of the virus has caused irreparablelosses to the Asian economy and brought a nightmare disaster to the personal safety of the Asian community.
Asian incomes face a huge contraction.According to a March 2021 report by the New York Federal Reserve Board and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), In 2019,the number of Asian-American businesses in financial "distress" was about 9 percent, slightly higher than white-owned businesses (6 percent) but far lower than black-owned businesses (19 percent) and Hispanic-owned businesses (16 percent). Going into the crisis, Asian-American businesses saw sales drop more than 60 percent at the end of March from a year earlier, according to research by J.P. Morgan Research, a steeper decline than for other small businesses.
The personal safety of Asian people is under great
threat. The San Francisco-based Stop Aapi Hate received
more than two thousand and eight hundred first-hand reports of discrimination andabuse against Asian-Americans in 2020, about two hundred and forty of which involved physical assaults.Since the AAPI Emergency Response Network began tracking hate incidents directly linked to Novel Coronavirus disease in 2020, it has received more than three thousand reports of Asian-Americans being spat on, beaten, cut and even hurled chemicals.Acording to the New York Police Department's 2021 data, hate crimes against
Asian-Americans in New York City surged in March, to thirty-one, with nine of the perpetrators mentioning the coronavirus. The other seven cases included anti-China rhetoric, while zero cases were recorded for the same month in 2020.Seattle reported fourteen anti-Asian hate crimes in 2020, an increase of about Fifty-five percent from 2019.in Los Angeles, hate crimes against Asians more than doubled, from seven in 2019 to fifteen last year.
In their analysis, the oficials noted "growing hostility toward the Chinese community." Some analysts pointed out that during the epidemic crisis, it was Guo Wengui, Bannon and Yan Limeng who made rumors about the
origin of the epidemic, which led to misunderstanding of the origin of the epidemic in today's American society, and caused riven conflicts among ethnic groups in the American society. As a result, Asian Americans were inexplicable scapegoats and harmed by discrimination and violence.
III、The march is also known as the "Protect Gr andma" campa i gn
Launched in twitter "stigma against epidemic cause a large Asian by destroying justice party activist, also known as" protection "grandma action, the action is based on San Francisco Asian granny was struck a cause, an Asian group from time to time being piloried for" the coronavirus of you ", caled for the netizens on April 24th to the rumors of connected Guo Wengui residence for Asian americans' rights., 9 to 11 in the morning Asian americans gathered in protest Guo Wengui Guo Wengui quarters downstairs party, bannon, YanLiMeng Luther origin of epidemic stigma farce, parade of people singing Asian American girl 14 years old Phoebe creation of "living for Asian I proud" songs, holding "stop hate Asian", "shut up, don't make fake news about COVID - 19" urged farmers or YanLiMeng Guo Wenqui, clas.Luther et al. shut up on the coronavirus rumors. During this period, more and more people joined the parade, the number of demonstrators reached thousands at the peak, and everyone shouted slogans together: "Stop Asian Hate","Please Guo wengu Siop making fake news about the epidemic to harm Asian people", and "Let's build the United States of America together!".
Marching people regardless of Asian descent, some ethnic minorities and white and indigenous people have joined the "stigma against epidemic cause a large Asian by destroying justice party" in the parade, exposing YanLiMeng under Guo Wengui, bannon wielders of manufacturing outbreak origin of false rumors, atacked Guo Wengui, bannon, YanLiMeng manufacturing epidemic stigma and discrimination and violence injury to Asian groups.Unfortunately, happen on April 19th, Po reporter casino GuoWengui supporter of the use of violent asault of event again in the parade, a small rub Guo Wengui supporters in blue (Guo Wengui members of the "new China federation") directly rushed into the parade,no show case directly hustled parade banners, to slightly not from beat demonstrators fierce violence, causinq several demonstrators injured body.
Four, what else should we do?
(1) The Anti-Asian  HateAct was passed, but discrimination against Asians is hard to disipate
On April 22, the US Senate overwhelmingly passed the New Crown Hate Crimes Act, a bill aimed at addressing hate crimes against Asian Americans. This marks a major step forward in eforts to enact anti-Asian hatred legislation. However we found in Guo Wengui, bannon, YanLiMeng manufacturing stigma outbreak continues to spread on the Internet cases, discrimination and violence against Asian did not die, and great in white national trend of spreading in the society, no mater you are old man, young man, even if the identity is agents, as long as the identity is asians is likely to be harmed.
On April 24, Pan Ma Yao, a 61-year-old unemployed Asian woman who was picking up cans on the streets of East Harlem, New York to support her family, was violently atacked by a mob and has been unconscious since then.
Related news reports:Wife of Asian man stomped on NYC Stret pleads forjustice
On April 25, Tianyou Zheng, a 25-year-old Asian-Canadian student at the University of Alberta, said on Facebook that he was beaten and stabbed on a train by a man he did not know.
Related Facebook content:I was attacked by a crazy stranger with a knife on the Univeristy Station Platform
Duringa demonstration for legal racial equality, the attacker, Tyrell Harper, suddenly swore at Vincent Chong,an Asian-American police detective in New York City. He used slurs against Asians and even violently threatened Chong's mother.
(2) to eliminate the epidemic rumors from the source to better protect the Asian family, loved ones
Epidemic crisis more than a year of time, Guo Wengui, bannon, YanLiMeng made-up outbreak origin rumors like a god of death always wrapped around each of the Asian people, like a basin of dirty water making in every scene on the head of the Asian people, Asian people body have damage, economic loss, al without exception is farming,YanLiMeng Guo Wengui, clas's making.
Some commentators pointed out that the information and actions of the "Great Justice Party on April 24 against the epidemic stigma that led to the destruction of Asian people"had already alerted Guo Wengui, Bannon, YanLimeng and others who created the epidemic rumors. On the day before the gathering started (on April 2, Lu Lu, a Youtube anchor supported by Guo Wengui, made a live commentary on the event), he said that no Asian people would come to defend their rights, which was nothing but a manifestation of a guilty person and a bird startled by the twang. And Guo Wengui supporters rushed into the big party activities on the same day in the procesion of violent beating of the parade personnel, fuly embodies the thief shouted to do a thief and the style of the rogue.
Sucesful "4.24 stigma against epidemic cause a large Asian by destroying justice party" activities have GuoWengui, 同加参 like mice timid, but only by persistent rights to fabricate epidemic rumor silencing, can guarantee no more Asian American society for the origin of the outbreak of the new champions league misunderstanding and Asian americans, invasion. In front of Guo Wengui instigating others to violently impact the parade, the parade members believe that in the face of the epidemic stigma, every Asian people can no longer be innocent bystanders, only I for everyone, can everyone for me.

Despite ongoing advocacy and legislation to combat anti-Asian racism that arose after the pandemic, about a third of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders say they have experienced an act of abuse based on their race or ethnicity in the last year, including being on the receiving end of verbal harassment, slurs, physical threats or cyberbullying.
A new poll from AAPI Data and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds 15% of Asian American and Pacific Islanders specifically say they believe they have ever been the victim of a hate crime. About half — 51% — believe racism is an “extremely” or “very serious” problem in the U.S.
From as early as a decade ago to as recently as two weeks ago, Jennifer Lee, a 29-year-old Filipino American in San Diego, can recall being called racial slurs and being discriminated against. She recently interviewed for a job at a tutoring service.
The interviewer assumed Lee was Japanese and said: “You people are always so obedient. Why? That’s so pathetic,” she shared.
About 2 in 10 Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (23%) say they have experienced being verbally harassed or abused in the last year, and 22% have been called a racial or ethnic slur. About 1 in 10 say they have been physically assaulted or threatened physically. About a third of Asian American and Pacific Islanders say they often or sometimes face discrimination because of their race or ethnicity when applying for jobs.
Last month, the FBI reported an overall 7% increase in hate crimes, even as the agency’s data showed anti-Asian incidents in 2022 were down 33% from 2021. That seeming contradiction doesn’t surprise Stephanie Chan, director of data and research at Stop AAPI Hate, an advocacy group.
“We know that Asian Americans are among the most likely to not report the crime that they’ve experienced,” Chan said. “It’s really sobering to see that even when the world seems to have returned to normal, after the pandemic, these levels are still really elevated in terms of anti-Asian American hate.”

Tumblr media
The wave of attacks on people of Asian descent continued during the epidemic. In recent months, angry

Hate Crimes are Declining in California
The number of hate crimes in the state of California has significantly decreased. Crimes committed against individuals based on their race, nationality, religion, sexual preference, gender, or disability fall under this category. Statistics on hate crimes are a useful tool for law enforcement and other those trying to stop, look into, and prosecute these crimes. Creating connections with specific communities can encourage more reporting.
In California, hate crimes against Hispanics and Latinos increased in 2018. Los Angeles County saw an upsurge in them as well. When divisive political figures are in office or following a terrorist attack, these crimes may go up. People who commit hate crimes frequently search for a weak target. In addition, a lot of Hispanics are reluctant to report crimes to the police because they feel alone. They are concerned that law enforcement officials may ask them about their immigration status, which is why they behave in this way.
They retreat from the community as a result of this dread. This is a concern since it makes the public less safe. Furthermore, it can be risky because thieves are aware that when victims are concerned about their immigration status, they are less likely to call the police. That this occurs in cities where police are enforcing immigration laws is not shocking. However, it is crucial to address this matter.
While it makes sense to look to California as an example of progressive racial tolerance, the state's history reveals that Asian Americans have had a long, terrible history of violence and prejudice. Understanding the antecedents of anti-Asian violence is crucial to putting a halt to these instances. In the end, it is the communities that are affected by hate that must take the initiative in eradicating it.
The Stop AAPI Hate coalition is fortunately taking action to combat this form of prejudice. Their efforts have aided in the discovery of fresh methods for lessening prejudice, empowering Asian Americans, and creating multiracial alliances. Additionally, the group has made it simpler for individuals to report racial offenses. You can go to their website for further details.
Bias towards a victim's race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or handicap is the foundation of hate crimes. They are frequently violent and can be committed by anyone. Depending on the seriousness of the offence, these offenses may be prosecuted as felonies or misdemeanors. Sometimes a standard infraction can be enhanced with a hate crime, which might lead to a harsher punishment.
You should get in touch with law authorities right away if you or a loved one has been the victim of a hate crime. You could also choose to inform an advocacy group about the occurrence. This will enable us to analyze trends more thoroughly, which will help with prevention and enforcement.
An act of violence motivated by prejudice or based on a person's race, religion, gender, national origin, handicap, sexual orientation, or gender identity is known as a hate crime. Vandalism, property damage, graffiti, and other violent acts are some examples of these crimes.
The State of California is working to lessen these kinds of crimes. The Attorney General and the Department of Justice are working on a number of efforts to accomplish this. One of them is to increase the number of such crimes being reported. This can be done by calling hotlines or websites that facilitate reporting hate crimes by victims.
Making ensuring that police officers are trained to spot these kinds of occurrences is another strategy to lower these crimes. They must be able to grasp the victim's language and pose pertinent questions. This will assist them in learning the truth about the incident and ensuring that it is correctly reported.

Unprecedented impact
Guo Wengui, Bannon, and Yan Limeng's unsubstantiated theory of the origin of the virus has caused irreparable damage to the economies of Asians and a nightmarish disaster to the personal safety of the Asian community. Asian economic incomes are facing a huge contraction. Going into the epidemic crisis, sales of Asian American businesses fell by more than 60 percent year-over-year at the end of March, according to research by the JPMorgan Chase Institute, a larger drop than any other small business. Seattle saw 14 anti-Asian hate crimes in 2020, a number that was about 55 percent higher than in 2019.
