Desiderium | Elijah Mikaelson x Wife!reader
CW: None. Lots of feelings? Elijah just needs a hug honestly. Summary: Esther's machinations against Elijah has him confronting the deepest truths of himself that he has kept buried deep inside his heart. Truths he has never told you about.
Tumblr media
You could say with certainty that you knew your husband better than most. With nearly two decades of being married and a few years of getting to know each other before then, you were pretty sure you had insight into his thoughts that not even his siblings had.
His time as a prisoner of his mother had changed him. He was no longer in control of the beast he had so meticulously kept under lock and key for over a millennia. You could see that he no longer seemed comfortable in his own skin. He rarely bothered to put on the tailored suits that had become so ingrained into your image of him.
The most agonizing aspect of this change was that he distanced himself from you. Physically, he was still with you, sleeping at your bedside, reading in the library with you, partaking in breakfast, lunch, and dinner with you. Emotionally, however, there was a notable lack in your routine talks.
Where you two would talk of both everything and nothing before, now, there was stilted conversation, non-emotive hums of acknowledgment, and strained smiles.
It was painful to see him this way.
But at this point, you'd had enough. Your stubborn husband was clearly not dealing with the trauma his mother had subjected him to, and it seemed he had no plan to do so.
Thus, your current situation.
You had lured Elijah into the library, making sure to warn the household of your plan to confront him and have him heal, or at least start to.
As a powerful witch, you placed a barrier, barring Elijah from escape, in addition to a silencing charm, preventing any outsider from listening into your conversation.
A frustrated sigh escaped your husband's lips, his finger tapping at the armrest of the cushioned chair he was currently seated at. His normally warm brown eyes were tinged with agitation, "Dearest, is this truly necessary?"
You smiled back, unbothered by his obvious discomfort, knitting your hands together and placing them neatly on your lap, "Darling, we both know that you've been avoiding me for quite some time. I've had enough of it. We are going to talk about this, so, whatever nonsense you've been telling yourself to keep you from opening up to me is to end now."
You saw his jaw tick, could practically hear him grinding his teeth. Several emotions flitted across his eyes; fear, relief, shame, and sadness. You longed to ease him of his woes, but you had to understand what was going on with him.
You walked over to him, holding your hand out, wiggling your fingers in a clear sign for him to grab on. He did so with slight hesitation, his large calloused hands slipping perfectly into yours, his hold gentle. You pulled lightly, coaxing him to join you as you walked backwards toward the loveseat beside the armchair he'd been on.
You and he sat down, your hands still intertwined, and you began to stroke the back of his hand with your thumb, tracing random patterns and shapes into his skin.
You both sat quietly. You were preparing to question him while he was preparing excuses and formulating ideas to get out of this situation.
You could see the gears turning in his head so you reached out with your other hand and tenderly cupped his cheek.
His eyes shot downward to the floor in shame.
Your heart ached, seeing that expression on his handsome face.
"Darling. Please look at me." You whispered softly.
Slowly, he trailed his eyes up to your own. To your surprise, his sclera turned red and black veins became visible.
You had only witnessed Elijah's true vampiric form a handful of times, the majority of them against a threat against your or his safety. And the other small portion had been during more intimate moments, but they were never unprompted. You normally had to ask him to drink from you, and even then, he'd take the most minuscule sips.
To witness him now, unprovoked and unprompted, and see the barely concealed hunger in his eyes; you had no words.
Your surprised silence must have been enough for him, for a moment later, he looked away, inhaling deeply through his mouth, pushing down the raging hunger and tampering it to a simmer.
"My Dearest, please forgive me, I—"
You forced his head in your direction, eyes no longer wide in surprise but instead in eager determination, "Do not apologize, Elijah. No more apologies. Explain, please, just...whatever it is that is plaguing your mind, just let it out."
A long silence permeated the library. The hesitation caused you to stroke at his cheek, your eyes softening to stare up at him in complete adoration, "My darling Elijah. There is nothing you could say that would make me love you less."
Another beat of silence before he nodded, "I am...unsure of how to start. Will you...allow me to show you?"
You nodded without a single hint of doubt, "Of course."
This time, your husband was the one to reach out as he placed the tips of his fingers against your temple.
And you saw everything Esther had done. She'd broken down every wall he'd placed in his mind. The Red Door that he'd had buried deep inside. Memories that she had locked away—whether she had meant it as a form of protection for him at the time, didn't matter—it had broken him. He never gave himself the time confront what he was. Instead, he locked away his own confusion at being transformed into a vampire, couldn't deal with the fact that he had killed his first love, never acknowledged the fact that he could no longer have children despite how family-oriented he was. All this he had ignored and locked away for the sake of his family, to keep them safe and away from Mikael, to fulfill the promise he'd made to Niklaus, for his baby brother's redemption.
As the images of his torture faded from your mind, you realized that tears had formed and fallen throughout the mind-meld.
Elijah tenderly wiped away at the tear tracks, bringing your head close and placing a feather light kiss to your temple, "Forgive me, my love." He whispered hoarsely.
You placed your own hand over his, wanting him to continue touching you, "There is nothing to forgive Elijah."
He shook his head, "I am a monster, the atrocities I've committed are too numerous and you—"
You gripped his face firmly, eyes still maintaining that warm, gentle look, "I," you emphasized, "know exactly who I gave my heart to." Your hand trailed up and combed through his hair. He closed his eyes momentarily to savor the gesture. He opened them again and stared into your loving gaze.
"I know that I didn't marry a saint. And I'm okay with that."
His eyes were so vulnerable, he looked like a kicked puppy, eyes shining with barely concealed hope, "The lives I have taken, the method in which I have wrought destruction is..."
"Not so different from me."
You could see him about to deny your statement, but you placed a finger on his pouting lips, "Darling, I have lived a very long time. You know quite well the lives I've taken. I am no angel."
A smile bordering on a smirk made it way on his lips, "No," he muttered, "you are a goddess."
A bubbling laugh erupted from your lips. You could feel warmth envelope your chest at the sight of mirth dancing behind Elijah's gaze.
"My sweet Elijah." cupping his face again, you continued, "There's more to this isn't there? Please." You brought your forehead to touch his.
"Let me in," you whispered.
He could never get anything past you. The woman he married was observant, piecing the most minute of details together to create an understanding of a problem. She had only gotten better at reading him over the years. At knowing him when he was still trying to understand himself.
"I could never fool you, could I?"
You chuckled softly, "It certainly is entertaining when you try."
He sighed again.
He had been thinking about this non-stop since Niklaus and she had rescued him. An ache he had buried so deep that he'd forgotten it was there. Meeting you had inched it to the surface but he had stamped it down the more and more serious you two got.
He clasped his larger, rough hands around yours, moving them onto his lap. He stared at your more delicate fingers. So much more slender than his, smoother, softer.
"Since I was a boy," he started, "I had been raised and taught that a man was to provide and protect those of his family." He raised his eyes and stared off into the distance, "And with how my father treated Niklaus...how I had failed my brother when we were still human, I made a vow to myself that I would always keep him safe, keep our siblings safe.
"You know of my...unfortunate luck with past lovers."
You simply nodded, smiling encouragingly for him to continue.
"Killing Tatia was...it was almost as if I had killed the human part of me. Her death was my birth as a vampire."
His eyes then strayed back to you, "Over the centuries I fell in love and I lost them all. Some I lost to Niklaus' actions and others...I chose my family over them. And then? I met you."
He caressed your cheek at that. You nuzzled into his warm touch.
"Having had so many lovers die, I buried the desire for companionship. You met me at a time where I was afraid of getting close to others. I thought, that if my brother got wind of another woman in my life, he would do everything to take her from me. And yet, you stayed.
"You fought at my side, struck down enemies in my name, broke down every barrier I had placed around my heart, and you uncovered that buried desire for love I had been so afraid to feel again. For I knew, that if I lost you, that would be the end of me."
His words were poetry, touching the deepest parts of your soul and you couldn't help the tears that welled in your eyes as he spoke with such raw emotion.
He closed in on you, his lips pressing into yours with a heavy passion.
When he pulled away, his eyes were alight with wonder, "And then you became my wife." His smile was so radiant as he thought back to that moment where he'd gone down on one knee and asked you the question that had been plaguing him for a few years at that point.
"I had what I had most wanted. The companionship I had longed for, for so long. Since the day my father pierced my heart with his blade. The love of a woman who loved me just as profoundly as I did her."
His breathe hitched, "And yet..."
He went quiet. You could tell he was biting the inside of his cheek. You merely stroked his hands, allowing him time to structure his next words.
You knew what he was getting at. Ever since coming to New Orleans. You could see how the situation here was affecting your husband. How he had looked at his brother.
"And yet," Elijah said, finally, "the desire for something else began to brew deep within. A desire I had not given a thought to since becoming what I am. I couldn't think about it, because what could I do but let it fester and infect my mind? And then mother happened. She said the one thing that caused that desire to spread its way into my every waking thought."
You could see the turmoil and anguish rolling off his very being. You lifted a hand and placed a gentle kiss, encouraging him to go on.
"It is selfish of me to want more, when you, my dearest, were a dream come true in a millennia of loneliness. But I..."
You lifted his chin, eyes so full of understanding, it was nearly blinding for Elijah to look directly at you. But you held his gaze and whispered so tenderly to him, "It's okay. You can say it."
He closed his eyes. Of course, you already knew.
"The longing I have felt...the wish I buried with my human self...I have always longed to be a father."
Tears fell from Elijah's eyes as he finally uttered his wish. Your own tears poured from your eyes as you hugged him close.
You had seen the looks of envy your husband had shot at his brother since learning that he had impregnated Hayley. You'd noticed the way his eyes would sometimes fall to your own stomach, imagining what you would look like with his child. And after nights of love-making, when he thought you had fallen asleep, he would caress your belly, hoping against hope that your body would accept your coupling and consummate a child.
You and he had never spoken about the inability to have children. He was a vampire after all. But it wasn't hard to imagine. You had done so many times before. Your husband, rocking your son or daughter to sleep, reading books to them, talking tenderly to them.
He was so dedicated to his family already. You could only imagine how he would be for his own children.
And with that thought, you eased away from your embrace. Your eyes burning with determination.
"I promise you, Elijah. I will do everything within my power to give you a child."
His eyes widened, eyebrows shooting up at his mouth gaped open with surprise.
You were a powerful witch. With grimoires dating back centuries with spells and rituals lost to time. Your husband never asked for much, but if it was a baby he wanted, then a baby he'd get. You would make damn sure of it.
*** Author's note: I really wanted to write this type of perspective of a man truly wanting to be a father, and Elijah, I feel, is that kind of man. He's so family-oriented and caring and loving and I can only imagine the type of amazing father he'd be.
I've read a lot of stories where the want of a child was more along the aspect of breeding kinks and the baby-making process, and those are all well and good (I like reading those too, honestly) but for this, I feel Elijah's desire to be pure; he truly wants to be a family man, a good husband, and a loving father.
Also wife!reader is essentially my OC from an Elijah/OC fanfic I have in the works. I will not be posting anything from that story anytime soon as it's still in the works (7 chapters so far and nearly 35K words) but this particular situation was in my head for a while now.
Anywho, thank you all for reading, and for those of you who have liked and reblogged my previous two mute!reader entries, a huge thank you to you! I hope you all enjoyed reading this!

Headcanons of you being elijah’s wife and an original Part 2
Headcanons of being Klaus’s best friend (Part 2)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You had just entered the abattoir after a day out to negotiate a treaty with the witches for klaus. You could not wait to get home and take a relaxing bath with elijah that hopefully would lead to more.
‘dear, I’m home’ you said when about to open your shared room with Elijah. You did not hear anything as the room was soundproof being in a house of supernatural hearings creatures you did not want them to hear your’s  and Elijah’s private moments
You opened the door to find Elijah almost completely naked hovering over hayeley , his mouth laced to her neck as she cried his name in pleasure. ‘I love you’ you heard her say and ‘I love you too’ he replied not stopping his assault on her
Your bag fell to the floor as did you jaw.
You husband of ten centuries in bed with one of your closest friends. The love of you life making love to another when you had promised each other to be faithful forever.
The sound of the purse and grimoires falling made the two snap out of their intercourse their eyes widening in horror
‘y/n…’ elijah tried but you flee the room at vampire speed elijah only in his boxers run behind you
‘please y/n stop’ he pleaded blocking you from exiting from your shared study that was attached to your shared room, you turned to him tears running down your cheeks as you looked at him, his perfect state gone, just in boxers his hair ruffled a state only you knew of him, that only you could pull out of him
‘how could you!’ you shout at him
‘y/n It’s not what it seems’ he tried
‘do not insult my intelligence elijah!’ you shouted at him angry and hurt he tried to come froward but you took step backs
‘don’t touch me!’ you shouted his hand fell as he looked at the ground
‘please forgive me’ he whispered
‘I loved you! I trusted you!’ you continued, he shifted in his stand and raised his eyes meeting yours ‘I love you too you know it’ he tried and seemed sincere but it reminded you of only how he had just said to hayley
‘don’t ! don’t speak !’ you told him getting near to him, he was smart enough to not try to touch you again
‘I need to know why’ you asked calm, he staid silent
‘why!’ you shouted this time, he looked at you again as a single tear run down his cheeck
‘I don’t know’ he says voice braking in horror
If your heart was already broken now it was six feet under, he cheated on you, your faith loving honorable husband, you let out a sickening maniacal laugh
‘you. Disgust. me’ you said inches from his face before leaving the room, as you walked away you heard the sound of fortunate breaking
You passed In front of the corridor, Hayley with a towel around her body was crying and looking at you with guilt form the door of your bedroom
‘y/n I’m so sorry’ she tried  as you didn’t even look at her, she ran after you and try to touch your shoulder your turned snapping away her arm ‘I welcomed you in this family, I was your friend and you slept with my husband. You are dead to me Hayley marshall and the only reason you are still breathing different from all the women and men I killed for just looking at my husband is because I differently from you know the meaning of family.’ You said stepping away as she remained there silent tears falling on the floor, you picked up your bag from the floor and left
You didn’t even mind to pack a bag you just went to the only person you had left, and entered his room
‘oh good y/n you are here I was searching for you I need you to make a spell for me’ klaus said seated on the sofa sensing you enter the room he stood up and looked at you freezing in his spot
‘what happened why are you crying’ he said coming near you his eyes full of worry, at least one miakelson was faithful, your best friend, as he inspects your face
‘I’m leaving I came to say goodbye’ you told him, avoiding his eyes he lets your face go, anger, fear and disappointment rising in him
‘so you and elijah finally decided to leave me behind! the two lovers leaving the bastard brother behind. The dead weight!’ he says in anger putting space between you two
‘I’m leaving, elijah is staying’  you continue. At that Klaus stops pacing and looks at you
‘what do you mean. We both know he can’t physically be away from you for more than a couple of miles without going nuts’ klaus says stopping his face confused as he watched you
‘he has interests here than do not encompass me’ you say clearing your throat
‘what do you mean, you are his only interest’
‘he cheated on me, niki, with haylye’ you manage to say as tears come to your eyes again. Shock crawl in his features. He can’t believe it. Elijah loves you, he always has and klaus had witnessed the depth of such love for over ten centuries. Also elijah would never cheat finding it horrible and not noble. If he stopped loved you, and that would be impossible he would first call it quit before getting in bed with hayley
Klaus is next to you in a heartbeat holding you close in his hug
‘he would never’ he replies convinced and astonished
‘I saw them with my own eyes. I’m leaving I can’t stay here a minute longer’ you continue while crying and getting of his embrace
‘goodbye nik’ you tell him wiping your tears
‘You can’t leave him. you can’t leave me!.’ He shouts desperate taking a hold of your arm but not in an aggressive way  ‘you know he loves you it must have been a small transgression. Don’t throw away a thousand year of family for a moment of weakness’ klaus tries to convince you, his head tilting and tears dangerously coming to his eye
‘If it was just physical I would have pardoned it maybe it would have taken time but I would have. but I saw him with her on our bed and he told her he loves her. I can’t forget that, and for sure I can’t forgive it’ you close your eyes a moment to collect yourself as klaus eyes get wider even more. He can’t believe that its impossible. His brother loved you since he can recall, klaus learned the look of love by seeing how elijah looked at you and you at him. it can’t be, elijah would never. And not with Hayley. Klaus would have picked up the signlas. Sure elijah had been gentle and protective towards Hayley but had not once seemed interested. Klaus can’t even recall his brother looking at another woman or man rather than you in ten centuries. He would have notice. He should have noticed. Put an end of it before it even started, put some sense in him. but klaus instead felt like he had failed. So he did the only thing kalus mikaelsons never does, he begged you.
‘please y/n. you have been my sister-in-law for a thousand year. You are my best friend. You loved and fought with us since the start of time. We are your fmaily, this is your house for gosh sake! Elijah loves you, you know that, you know that my brother loves you !.  you’ll be a fool not to see it.’ He begged and whispered and shouted, a tear rolling down his cheek
You looked at him in silence and he smiles at you in hope.
‘well maybe we are both fools for believing that’  you replied and klaus face fell
‘please y/n’
‘Please don’t try to stop me niki, I can’t even breath in this house’ you begged him voice breaking ‘I see them together everytime I see something here, all the memories together are replaced by the sound of their whimpers. I can’t be here. Please niki let me go. I’m turning nuts any second I spend here’ you begged him and he saw the anxiousness and desperation crawling in your voice as his heart broke
‘I beg you don’t disappear we can solve this’
‘I’m not. I will not force you to choose between me and your own brother. See it as a join custody divorce. You can always visit me and I will be there for you always, but you should continue live with Elijah while I’ll go somewhere else’ you told him sqeezing his hand
‘y/n you two can fix it I know’ he tried again
‘goodbye K. I’ll be at the plantation for a while, to understand what to do and to clear my mind. You are always welcomed, as you should be always’ you tell him kissing his cheek  as he closes his eyes as tears fall ‘I’ll be going to say goodbye to freya and hope’  you last tell him letting him go
Klaus watches you walk away, for the first time in years without word, every step and the sound of your shoes walking away stabbing his heart. He takes an hold of the door so much that it cracks before turning and slamming against the wall the lamp that was staying next to the door. He than steps out of the room, murder in his eyes.
Klaus rages in what is, was?, yours and elijah bedroom.
Elijah is still there only in his shirt and boxers is seated on the sofa drinking burbon, his face in complete shock. Hayley is standing next to the window pacing back and front she too still half naked ‘I don’t understand how this could happen’ she says. you are one of her best friends, and although she finds elijah good looking and noble, she would never NEVER even dare to think of him that way, or to want him , she knows what you two have.
‘ELIJAH!’ Klaus shouts in anger appearing at the door elijha stand up immediately
‘brother I assure you I don’t-‘ but Klaus vamp speeds next to him crushing him against the wall
‘why did you do that why did you hurt her !’ he grits between his teeth.
‘klaus..’ Hayley tries going near him. Klaus turns to her still holding Elijah against the wall
‘don’t you dare Hayley. consider yourself lucky that you are my daughter’s mother or you would have been already dead. so leave this room now! For you brother I can’t say the same’ Klaus says now turning back to Elijah , Elijah tries to free himself from his grip his voice calm full of shame, Hayley leaves understanding that the brothers need to talk between themselves.
‘this is not what it looks like’ elijah tries and Klaus tightenes his grip around his throat
‘so you mean I should not trust y/n when she said she walked in the middle of you and Hayley little rendezvous, and here you are both standing half naked still’
‘I know what it looks like but I didn’t want to do it . I don’t know how it happened. You know I love my wife, you know what she means to me ’  elijah replies his hand around kalus wrist that is crushing his throath
‘Well maybe after a 1000 year between the same pair of legs you wanted a change of scenario’ klaus humors
‘you know me I would never break a promise, even less my wedding vows to my wife.’  Elijah says anger rising finally getting free of klaus
‘look at you brother. You call yourself honorable, the keeper of our bond our family. And you just broke our family and you strained your honor’ klaus mocks him finger pointed at elijah’s face
‘I understand that you are angry but I assure you there must be an explanation’ elijah tries to convince both themselves, he can’t believe this happened. Of course haylay is a very attractive woman and they are close friends but he would never cheat on you, especially with her. You are all that matters to him, always been. And still he knows it happened even if it feels like a fever dream.
‘and what is it’ klaus asks giving his brother a last possibility
‘I don’t know’ elijah replies jaw clenching and his eyes low, that is enough to let klaus anger rise again, he lets a shout Klaus and throws him on the other side of the room, elijha doesn’t even want to fight anymore . he knows he deserves it. The guilt is eating him alive
‘that is all you can say? She walked out. She left you, she left US! After a thousand years that that woman has been nothing but loyal to you, to this family, you do that? And with one of her closer friends? One she can’t even take her rage on being the mother of her niece? How could you fall out of love with her? She never asked you to put her before you, before me, before our vows of always and forever, she followed us everywhere and in your stupid quest for my redemption. She fought, she suffered for us and she only asked in return that you loved her as you did before we became these monsters, she asked you to keep the promise you made to her, and you broke it. You said ‘i love you’ to another woman, to a pair of ears that wasn’t her's ’  klaus shouts and although elijah knows that every word of his brother is true and the pit of guilt is engulfing him even more, anger rises still as you could doubt anything and everything but not his love for you.
‘how dare you doubt my love for my wife!.’ Elijah shouts standing up ‘I don’t love halyley’ he says with disgust ‘I love y/n and you know it, I don’t even remember life before loving her’
‘that is not what she said she heard during your little intercourse with hayley’ klaus replies knowing his brother words are true but that makes him even more angry, why should he tell Hayley something not true if not for the only purpose to hurt you.
‘i- I don’t understand how I could say that. I love y/n I will always love only y/n’ he says sincerely tone rising. He knows its true. It’s the only thing he eve known it was true
‘you don’t deserve her. you never did’ klaus tells him inches from him and gritting each word
‘I know’  his bother says eyes low as a single tear escape his eye
‘good’ Klaus says putting space between them before jumping froward and biting elijah with his venom as the elder lets out a scream of pain freya enters the room
‘Klaus let him go! it was a cheating spell! It’s not his fault. It’s neither of their fault’
Klaus lets elijah go before turning to his oldest sister ‘explain sister’
‘when y/n came to say goodbye I ran some magic tests, believing our brother would never be capable of such thing. Initially I found nothing but then by trying locating a cheating spell I found that both elijah and Hayley were affected’ freya explained as relief washed on both elijah and klaus.
Although elijah shame and guilt remained In his heart.  ‘a witch wanted to divide us form the inside, knowing this family would crumble by diving elijah and y/n. and from what I can see here she was right’ freya concluded. At that klaus bit his own wrist purring some blood on a glass and handling to Elijah which drank it, the bite on his neck disappearing
Elijah moved towards the wardrobe picking up clothes
‘what are you doing?’ klaus asked him
‘I’m going to bring my wife home and I will need to at least be decently dressed’
‘good’ freya said ‘don’t screw this up brother’ klaus added before both leave the room
Elijah finds you outside of Rousse you clearly have cried . you sense him arrive
‘leave me alone’ you spat
‘sw-‘ he starts but then as he imagines you will punch him if he calls you ‘sweetheart’ right now he being again  ‘y/n, I know you hate me right now but please let me explain’
‘hate you? I wish I could hate you. But when you spend a thousand years loving someone you could not hate them even if you tried. And believe me I tried’ let out a guttural laugh that he hopes to never hear again is brutal and heartbroken
‘You know I tried to cheat after I saw you. I went to rusosu searching for the first guy I found. Just for revenge, eye for an eye. but I couldn’t. only the idea that another mouth apart from yours would touch me or the idea of having someone else in me made me want to vomit. And there I remembered how your fingers touched a skin which wasn’t mine, how your mouth whispered sweet nothings to someone rather than me. And I hate you for that, because it was something only we shared. Only I knew that side of you, as only you knew that side of me. Only we knew what the other looked like falling apart, only I knew what it meant to be loved by you. But now someone else know your smell, your taste and I can’t even look at you without seeing her. I can’t forget it.’
‘I know it and I know how much you are hurt and I can’t take it back but-’ elijah says eyes lucid
‘that is not the point elijah because what you did is far wars. you made me doubt the only thing I knew it was true. your love for me, the only thing that connected me to when we were just farmers in a small Viking village . the only constant in my life. and even worse you made me doubt myself, you made me think I wasn’t enough for you or for anyone, than maybe I have changed. And I can’t forgive that no matter what you say ’
‘please forgive me or at least let me explain ’ he tries getting closer but not too much
‘I can’t elijah, you broke your vow, your wedding vows’
‘the day we married I gave you my word to love you forever and be faithful to you. I know it is difficult but you need to trust me again, please  , it wasn’t me freya found that it was a cheating spell neither I or Hayley are at fault. We were hexed , we had no control over our actions ‘
‘why should I believe you. I can’t trust you anymore’ you reply but with all your heart you want to believe him
‘read the magic energy that was put on me, freya said its weak but the trace is still there if you know what you search for’
After doubting it you touched him closing your eyes searching for the remaining of magic such spell would leave. To find it. You took a step back as he waited full of hope patientaly. Relief washed over you but the pain remained
‘I forgive you. But it will take a bit of time to forget. What I saw broke me. It was our room our bed, where the testimony of our love hangs in the paintings I made for you in the centuries that we keep in the room.’ You reply still hurt.
‘I understand. And I don’t expect everything to fall into normal so easy. But please, I beg you, come home’ he says getting a bit nearer
‘ I will’ you reply scopping nearer too
‘thank you’ he let out a breath
‘but I need space. Some days at least. So please give me space’ . the shock had still not faded off and although you knew it wasn’t his fault you still needed time to preccess it
‘of course.’
‘so I will sleep in Rebekah’s room for a while, and our bed covers where you laid with her I want them to see them on fire’ you continue your list as you take out the money from your purse and leave them on the counter
‘of course’
He didn’t even try to touch you, he knew it was not the time or place, the wound was still open
‘Can i.. can I at least give you a ride home?’ he asked insecured
‘you are still my husband’ you reply plain
‘you know what I mean’
‘yah you can’ you say giving him a sad smile
You walked silently to the car, he opened the door for you, before getting in the driving seat. As you seat you briefly touched his hand giving it a squeeze while looking out at the window and in that moment he knew that things were not okay but they could be as you were already starting to forgive him.

Forgiving love

A forgotten date night
As the afternoon sunlight begins to dim, you sit in bed waiting patiently for your husband, Elijah Mickelson, to walk through the door. You have been eagerly anticipating this date night for months and cannot wait to finally be together again. However, as the minutes pass by and he is still not home, you begin to worry. 'Isn't he coming home tonight?' you think to yourself. The thought of him forgetting your special night out together fills you with anxiety and you begin to pace back and forth in the room.
As the clock ticks by and still no sign of him, you begin to wonder if he's forgotten about date night. You consider calling him, but you're afraid to bother him in case he is working. Finally, after another 15 minutes, you decide to send him a text message. That's when you notice it. A notification flashes up on your phone: a text message from Elijah.
The text reads: "I'm so sorry honey busy day. I'm on my way home now."
Your heart skips a beat when you read his text. For a split second, you feel furious and betrayed. It's not the first time that he's forgotten about your special date nights together, and you're fed up with being let down constantly. You can't believe that he would forget such an important night out, and you're angry at yourself for being so naive as to think he'd remember this time.
As you wait anxiously for his return, you feel like you're about to explode with rage. You start pacing back and forth across the room, trying to calm down and contain your emotions. The anger within you grows stronger as every second passes and he is still not home. You start to think of all the time and energy you've put into planning this date night and how it all went to waste because of Elijah's forgetfulness.
Finally, after what feels like ages, you hear the front door open and close behind him. You stand there nervously as he enters the room. He immediately spots you, and you see the shock and guilt spread across his face when he realizes what he's done. "Honey, I'm so sorry," he says immediately, walking quickly towards you. "I completely forgot about our date night."
You can feel the anger rising within you again, but before you can say anything, he presses a finger against your lips and holds your gaze. "Please, let me explain," he says earnestly. "I know I messed up, but I promise I'll make it up to you." The way he looks at you, so vulnerable and apologetic, makes you want to forgive him already.
You stay silent for a moment, trying to suppress your anger. But then gradually, you begin to soften. "You'd better make it up to me," you finally say after a few seconds of silence. "I put in so much effort for this date night, and you just forgot about it so easily."
He knows he needs to make it up to you somehow, and that includes more than just words. You watch as his hands reaching for your hips. He pulls you close to him, and you can feel his breath on your neck as he whispers, "I know how to make this up to you..."
His words send a shiver down your spine, and you feel the tension in the air between you two as he pulls you even closer. He slides his hands up and down your hips, leaving goosebumps everywhere they touch. You can feel the heat building up between you as his touches get more passionate. You lean into him, pressing yourself tight against him. He kisses your neck, and then slowly brings his mouth down to yours. It's one passionate kiss, and you can feel his love and affection for you.
As he pulls away, he whispers, "Let me show you..."

Goodbye, my love

Paring(s): Elijah mikaelson x wife! Reader, the mikaelson's x sister! Reader
Genre: angst? Maybe?
Warning(s): character death
Word bank: Y/N- your name
Notes: ok, soooo I've been working on the request that people have sent and I will make sure to get them done as soon as possible! Also this is kinda rushed, so it may be bad.
Summary: Elijah makes it just in time to say goodbye to his wife
Part 1
Wait for me.
Please.
Wait for me, don't let go.
"Heartbeat is going haywire. She had a seizure just a couple of hours ago, there's nothing much I can do." Hayley and Rebekah look at each other, as the witch started to pack up her stuff with a defeated sigh.
Your body was betraying you, if the witch's calculations were right. You should have been dead hours ago. Why are you holding on? You're suffering.
Why are you still holding on?
One of the other witches looked at you with pity, as everyone in the room suppressed any sound. Allowing the room to become silent from you. The witch stared at you with a knowing look, "She's waiting for something,"
"Before she actually let's go."
Not another word wad said and yet everybody understood. After a long moment of silence, the door opens abruptly witha distraught Elijah barging in. The news of your condition reached him and Klaus allowed him to bail out of this one.
He scanned the room, observing everyone's pitiful expressions. He knew what was coming. The witches took their cue and left, leaving the four of you in the room, "Her heartbeat has been getting slower, the moment you left it turned worse. But she fought," Hayley smiles bitterly, "She waited for you."
She and Rebekah excused themselves, leaving Elijah standing by himself. He couldn't approach you, it crushed him. What did Hayley mean when your heartbeat gave in the moment he left? If he didn't leave, this wouldn't have happened?
The tears didn't fall, he hated this type of pain, the kind where you can't cry it out. It just lingers there, destroying him.
"Y/N?" His words appeared almost a whisper. He spoke, choking slightly as he suppressed his emotions. "I'm back."
"I told you right? I'll be back, I just had to- I just had to leave for a bit but... but I'm back now, see?" Desperate, the right word to describe his tone. He tired to sound convincing, as if you could hear him and feel his presence, you did.
With slow steps,he drew closer to you. Dreading what awaits, he looked at you, examining your expression. You were calm, different from what Rebekah had told him on the phone, she said you were in a hysteria.
But looking at you now, you looked as if you found peace. "I'm sorry," he says quietly, the tears slowly coming out. "Did you wait long? I'm so sorry, my love."
"I'm here now," he whispered, pulling you gently into his arms. Hugging your limp body close to him, his knees felt weak though he held your hand against his, interwining it lovingly, like you always did. "I love you so much, love, thank you."
As if on cue, as he muttered those words, the long dreaded sound of your heart erupts the room. You really did wait for him. The sound of your heart stopping filled his ears, "Thank you. So much."
"Thank you for allowing me to love you for all these centuries."
"Thank you for waiting for me."
"Goodbye, my love."

All My Life
Tumblr media
Pairing: Elijah Mikaelson x wife!reader
Summary: Klaus wants to use you in his plans, but Elijah is terrified of losing you. Marcel makes a massive mistake that could end in tragedy for all involved.
Warnings: Mentions of death, mild cursing.
Despite his external levelheaded calm appearance, Elijah Mikaelson was filled with intense emotions that threatened to overwhelm him at any moment. Unlike his siblings, he'd learned how to bottle his emotions and bury them deep down. Very few people would ever notice the turmoil behind his deep brown eyes, but you always did.
650 years of knowing him certainly helped, but it was the 650 years of loving him that really did the trick.
"Hey handsome, what are you doing in the cellar?" you asked as you walked down the stairs.
Elijah held up the bottle of scotch he'd been drinking and offered it to you. "Would you like a drink, (Y/N)?"
You raised your eyebrow and shook your head with a sigh, but you took the bottle from his hands and took a drink. "Do you want to tell me what's bothering you?"
He took the bottle back from you and took a long drink. "Now why would you think something is bothering me?"
"Perhaps because you're sitting in the cellar drinking your weight in scotch? Anyone with two eyes would look at you and immediately know something is wrong."
He looked up at you and you saw a sea of emotions in his eyes. You kneeled down in front of him and placed a hand on his thigh. "Talk to me, Elijah."
"I don't want to burden you with my thoughts."
"Your thoughts are never a burden. I know you and Klaus had a fight. Was that what bothered you?"
He sighed and nodded. He never wanted to show his emotions in public, but it was different with you. However, his argument with Klaus had sent him into overdrive. He was incredibly angry and frustrated, but mostly he was terrified. 650 years of loving you more than life itself and he could lose it all in a single conversation.
You could see he was warring with himself over something. You were worried about him. "Tell me what happened."
"Do we have to talk? Can we just sit here and enjoy each other's company?" He asked softly.
"Elijah," you whispered, "as much as I'd love to sit here quietly with you, I need you to open up. I know you're not okay."
He sighed and reached for you, pulling you into him. You let him hold you against his chest for a moment before pulling away. "Sweetheart," you said softly.
"Klaus wants to use you to remove Marcel and his vampires from the quarter."
You looked up at him in surprise. "What?"
"You're the strongest witch we know, which makes you the best option for combating Marcel." He sighed. "But it's too dangerous. He has Davina and 100 vampires on his side. I don't want to lose you."
"Oh sweetheart, is that what you're worried about? Losing me?"
He nodded. "The risk is too great. Any one of those vampires could try to kill you and Davina may be young, but she's strong."
"I'm immortal, Elijah. They're not going to be able to kill me."
He shook his head. "Not any more."
You pulled even farther away from him. "What?"
"Marcel got several witches to help Davina break your linkage spell."
"How do you know?"
"Marcel requested several of the quarter witches assist Davina in a massive spell. My understanding is he wanted to break the link between you and Nikalus, with the intent of attacking him."
"Attacking an immortal original hybrid? That sounds like a fantastic idea. What is he thinking?"
"Marcel is aware Nikalus cannot be killed, however he can be desiccated via magic. I believe that is his plan. Niklaus will be out of the way and no one will stand between Marcel and his 'kingdom'."
"How do you know about this?"
"Sophie informed Niklaus. Niklaus informed me."
"And then he suggested using me?"
Elijah nodded. "In traditional Nikalus fashion, he did not suggest, he demanded. I do not want to put you at risk, especially now that you are vulnerable. We argued about it, which you already know. I've spent the last hour sitting down here enjoying this 150 year old scotch."
Everything Elijah had told you had you reeling. 645 years ago you had been gravely injured and almost died. If Klaus hadn't found you in time, you would have been dead. Once he healed you, he had a witch create a linkage spell, tying you to Klaus. Essentially, everything that happened to Klaus happened to you and vice versa. However, his immortality also extended to you. As such, you did not age, never got sick, and you'd live as long as he did.
Elijah had been irate when he'd discovered what Klaus had done. In part because Klaus had taken away your choice for immortality, but mostly because Klaus had chosen to tie you to him, despite the fact that he knew how Elijah felt about you. Klaus adored you and that has never changed. Elijah grew to accept and even appreciate Klaus's constant desire to protect you. You never had a desire to be a vampire, so the fact that you could spend forever with Elijah without losing your magic meant everything to you.
"Klaus is willing to risk my life?" you asked in surprise.
"Of course not," Elijah stated. "He insisted that you'll be perfectly fine, but he cannot assure that. And there is the issue of the linkage spell...we don't know the ramifications of breaking it."
You sighed. "I can always reinstitute a linkage spell...perhaps even using you this time around."
Elijah looked at you in a strange manner and you were struggling to determine what he was thinking. "Elijah? What aren't you telling me?"
"You can't do the linkage spell."
"Why not?"
"The spell was very complex and as such certain things were required to conduct it."
"Certain things?"
"Niklaus never wanted you to know what it took to perform the spell." He sighed, clearly wishing he didn't have to tell you either. "The witch who created it used expression. And the complexity of the spell required the creation of an expression triangle in order to channel the energy needed to complete the spell."
You sat in a stunned silence. That may not have meant much to Klaus, but it meant a lot to you. "Did you know?" you whispered.
"(Y/N)..."
"Elijah. Did you know?"
He sighed. "Yes, I knew."
You closed your eyes. The weight of what he was saying was overwhelming. Klaus had killed 36 people just to link you to him. You would have rather died or even become a vampire over murder. "We can't do that, Elijah. It should have never been done in the first place. Expression magic is powerful, but dangerous. Klaus shouldn't have ever done this to me."
"If he hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to spend the last 645 years with you."
"Oh, Elijah. I know, I know." You grabbed his hand and kissed his knuckles gently. "We'll figure this out. And while I'm pissed at Klaus, I can't let Marcel hurt him."
"(Y/N), Marcel had you unlinked so he could go after Nikalus without harming you. I don't think he understood what it would mean or how the spell was completed all those centuries ago."
You realized he was right. Marcel was trying to protect you. You weren't surprised by that. You'd been a mother-figure to Marcel when he was growing up. Even now, he still cared about you and you cared about him. "I can't hurt him, Elijah, but I can't just let him come after Klaus."
"Yes you can, (Y/N). My brother will be fine. We will find a way to bring him back in the future. He kept half of our family in caskets for centuries, I think he can stand being desiccated for a while."
"Elijah," you scolded lightly. "We will not stoop to his level. Besides, he has done everything he can to protect me for 6 centuries. I owe him this."
Elijah sighed. "You owe him nothing, my love."
"I owe him my life," you said softly. You touched Elijah's face gently and he leaned into your hand. "I know you're worried, but I am still extremely powerful. That much hasn't changed. I can take Davina and the other quarter witches, even the vampires won't be too much of a challenge."
"You're always so confident, so brave. I wish you didn't have to be."
You smiled. "Would you love me as much if I weren't?"
"It is impossible for me to love you more than I already do, but it might be nice to have a wife who plays it safe sometimes."
"What fun would that be?"
**********
Elijah finally agreed to follow you upstairs into the courtyard, where Klaus was waiting.
"Where the hell have you been?" Klaus asked, clearly annoyed at his brother.
"I needed time, brother."
Klaus looked at you for the first time since you'd entered the room. Your expression answered all the questions he wanted to ask. "(Y/N)," he began.
You held up your hand to silence him. "Don't. You don't get to speak to me right now. I am choosing to help you because I owe you my life, but after that, I'm done. Elijah and I will be leaving the Quarter."
"You can't leave!" Klaus protested.
"I'd like to spend the rest of my days, however many I have, with the love of my life. I have no desire to spend them fighting a war I want no part in." You had already begun to formulate a plan in your mind, a plan that would likely take a whole lot more power than you had to give.
"Rest of your days? (Y/N), we can do another linkage spell--"
"Brother, enough," Elijah interjected. "She has made up her mind."
"She doesn't get to just decide to die, Elijah."
"You never should have taken her choice in the first place."
Silence descended on the two men, both suddenly struck with the inability to speak. You stepped between them, magic flowing freely from you. "Fighting gets us no where. I won't do the spell, Klaus. I can't. There's no situation in which I would be okay killing 36 innocent people just so I could live. It's not worth it--I'm not worth it."
You could see how desperately Klaus wanted to argue with you, but his mouth remained shut. You turned your gaze to Elijah and you found yourself wishing you could relieve him of his pain, his sadness. But you couldn't. "I'm sorry, my love, but I can't abandon him when he needs me most."
Elijah nodded his understanding, always willing to trust you completely. He knew you were more than capable of making your own choices and he trusted that you would make the right one. He just didn't realize what this choice would cost.
"If you'll agree not to argue, I'll release you," you said sternly, looking back and forth between them. They both nodded their agreement, and with a wave of your hand, they found their voices once again.
"I don't agree with this," Klaus grumbled.
"You don't have to," you said pointedly. "You made the decision to rile up Marcel. You chose to make this city a battle ground. Everything from that moment forward is on you."
With that, you inhaled deeply and walked away from them, allowing the spirits to guide you where you needed to go. Steeling yourself for the challenge ahead and the ramifications of your own choices.
Elijah and Klaus both tried to follow you, but the boundary spell you'd placed around the building kept them from leaving.
"(Y/N)?" Elijah said softly, tears filling his eyes.
"I'm sorry, love," you said gently. "You can't come with me."
"(Y/N) you will remove this spell at once," Klaus said sharply.
"You should know better than to try and order me around, Niklaus." It had been a long time since you'd used his full name. He understood the full weight of it even before Elijah did. You saw his eyes widen and he began to beat his fists against the barrier as if he could somehow break through it with nothing but brute strength.
Tears filled your eyes as you silently said your goodbyes to them both, knowing this could be the last time you'd see them. Your gaze met Elijah's one last time and you saw the moment of realization cross his features. Tears filled his eyes and you saw the desperation pooling within them.
"(Y/N)," he whispered, voice broken. "Please."
"I love you, Elijah. Always and forever."
The moment the words left your lips, you turned away from them and moved down the street quickly, never once glancing back. You knew if you did, there was no way you would be able to do what needed to be done.
**********
"You just had to have New Orleans, didn't you? Couldn't leave well-enough alone?" Elijah asked angrily.
"This is my home, my kingdom."
"It was, Niklaus, but it hasn't been yours for over a century. Why couldn't you just leave Marcel alone?"
"I saved him. I raised him!" he bellowed.
Elijah just shook his head, heart too heavy to bother arguing further. "I truly hope this city is worth it, brother."
Klaus was silent, knowing full-well it wasn't worth your life.
**********
"Marcel!" you called as you entered the church. You were surprised to feel his presence here of all places.
Marcel appeared before you as if by magic. "(Y/N). What are you doing here?"
You gave him a pointed look. "I think you know why I'm here, Marcellus."
He winced at the use of his full name. You didn't use it in a condescending way, but in a motherly way, which only made it that much harder for him to hear. "You shouldn't be here," he said quietly.
"Perhaps, but I don't have a choice now, do I?"
"You always have a choice."
You shook your head. "He is family, Marcel, and I owe him my life."
Marcel looked down. "I'm sorry for breaking the linkage spell."
You sighed. "As am I."
Something in your tone scared him. When his eyes met yours again, he saw the emotions swirling in them. "(Y/N)?"
You gave him a tight lipped smile. "The spell was my lifeline and my strength. I'm going to die, Marcellus, and soon. So I might as well do it protecting the people I love."
Surprise lit up his face, but he couldn't move, couldn't think. He was frozen in place. He could feel the streams of power coming from you and it terrified him. He'd never believed you would ever hurt him, but he suddenly wasn't so sure.
Davina felt your presence and came down the stairs, trying to fight against your power, but she was no match for you. Marcel tried to call out to her, to tell her to run, but he couldn't. Davina cried out in pain, her body dropping to the ground, hands holding her head.
All over the city, witches were dropping to the ground and screaming in agony. It lasted for mere moments before every single one of them suddenly fell silent, bodies collapsed on the unforgiving ground, minds unconscious.
Your eyes flicked back to Marcel. "You have to understand, Marcellus. I have to protect them." Not just Klaus and Elijah, but the witches too. You would not let them die at the hands of your family.
He looked at you, eyes begging you to stop.
"They will awaken, but they will have no powers. They will no longer be a threat, therefore they will be safe."
He had no idea you held that kind of power. He knew you were strong, likely a product of your age, but he'd never understood the depths of your power. Power that stemmed from your bond with the world's only truly immortal hybrid, a bond that was now broken.
"I will not kill your friends, the vampires. But I will issue a single warning. A warning which must be heeded by all who hear it." You closed your eyes and called out to every vampire in all of New Orleans. Each one of them heard your voice ring out in their head, "You are given a choice, children of the night. Leave New Orleans by first light or die by nightfall tomorrow. None will be spared."
The moment the words had left your lips, you dropped to the ground, breathing heavily. You'd released Marcel from his hold without meaning to, but you simply didn't have the strength to hold him any longer. You'd had a feeling that breaking the linkage spell would do more damage than any of you had hoped, and it appeared you were right. You could feel the end nearing, your body was dying, the power that had kept you alive draining from you.
"(Y/N)!" Marcel called out as he crawled over to you. After what you'd just done, perhaps he shouldn't care, but he couldn't help it. He picked up your semi-conscious body and began to carry it to the place he knew he was most unwelcome, but he couldn't just leave you alone to die.
**********
"Elijah! Klaus!" Marcel yelled as he reached the entrance to their ancestral home.
Both men appeared almost instantly. Elijah saw your body in his arms and he nearly broke down. Klaus, on the other hand, was immediately filled with rage.
"What have you done to her?" he snarled.
"She did it to herself," Marcel said softly.
Elijah tried to get to you, but the boundary spell was somehow still in place.
"Go," you whispered, voice barely audible. "I can't hold the spell much longer."
Marcel stared at you and realized you were protecting him...one last time. He didn't want to go, couldn't say goodbye. There was so much he wanted to say, but there was no time. He had to go, whether he wanted to or not. "I'm sorry, (Y/N)," he whispered as he gingerly placed you on the ground.
"I know," you murmured in return.
He looked at the two furious vampires locked within the walls of their home and knew he couldn't stay. Not if he wanted to live. He gave you one last look of sorrow before disappearing into the wind.
You gave Marcel as much of a head start as you could, knowing he would need it. "Don't follow him," you whispered, eyes locking on Klaus's.
"This is his fault," he said angrily.
"It's not," you paused to catch your breath. "Do not chase him. Just let him go. For me."
Both Klaus and Elijah were silent.
"Give me your word."
"I give you my word," Elijah said softly.
You knew without a doubt that he would keep it, but you needed to hear Klaus give his as well. "Klaus?"
He stubbornly looked away.
"Consider it my dying wish, if you must."
That got his attention. "You're not going to die."
"I am dying, Klaus. The longer you take to give me your word, the less time you have to say goodbye."
"Niklaus," Elijah prodded insistently.
"Fine. I give you my word, (Y/N)."
"Good." You released them and immediately felt a wave of relief. That was the last spell you were holding in place and the moment it was broken, you felt air return to your lungs.
Elijah was by your side immediately. He very carefully lifted you up in his arms and carried you to your shared bedroom, laying you ever so gently on the bed.
"There must be someone who can help her," Klaus insisted.
You shook your head. "Not in New Orleans, anyway."
"What? What did you do?" he asked.
"I bound the powers of every single witch in the city."
"(Y/N)," Elijah said softly, hand running through your hair to push it out of your face. "The power that would require..."
"I know," you whispered.
"Plus the message to the vampires? (Y/N), you don't have an immortal hybrid to feed off of anymore. You can't be using that type of magic," Klaus said.
"I'm sorry you both heard that. I didn't have the power to exclude you from the spell. It would have taken too much of my strength and concentration."
"It's okay, my love. Just rest. You need to get your strength back," Elijah said gently.
"My darling Elijah," you murmured, hand slipping into his. "I won't survive the night."
"Of course you will. You're strong," he insisted.
"Elijah, I can feel it. I'm dying."
He finally allowed the tears to flow freely down his face. It was one of the few times in the last 6 centuries of your life together that you'd seen him actually cry. It was enough to break your heart. "Oh, my love," you whispered as you reached for him, pulling him into your arms and holding him against your chest.
Your own tears streamed down your face, but you did your best to be strong for your husband. You knew what he could become without you...without his humanity...and you were terrified he would turn it all off just to keep himself from feeling this pain.
Your eyes met Klaus's from across the room and he looked just as devastated as Elijah did. His pain was different; he blamed himself, and perhaps rightfully so. "I must go," he said as he hurriedly headed for the door.
"Klaus," you called.
He turned to look at you, emotion clouding his face.
You had enough strength left for one simple sentence spoken directly into the hybrid's mind. "Protect him, Niklaus, always and forever."
Klaus looked down, doing his best to hold his tears at bay. He looked back up at you and gave you a firm nod, acknowledging your words and, in his way, giving you a promise.
You watched him walk away, a painful realization coming over you that this would be the last time you ever saw him. You looked down at Elijah and held on just a little tighter. You wanted more time with him...you would have given anything for it. You'd had more time with your husband than most people were ever lucky enough to have, but you still wanted more.
Elijah lifted his head and quickly wiped his face, regaining some of his usual composure. "I'm sorry, my love. I just...I don't want to lose you."
You nodded. "Nor do I."
"How long do we have?" he whispered.
"Hours, at most," you said softly.
He closed his eyes and breathed heavily. "Where do you wish to spend those hours, my love?"
You offered him a small smile. "I think you know."
He met your gaze and gave you a warm smile. "I suppose I do." He scooped you up in his arms and moments later you found yourself laid out on a soft blanket in the middle of the rooftop garden. You'd always loved this spot and you had many fond memories of your time with Elijah there.
"The sun will be setting soon," Elijah murmured as he sat down beside you.
"It will be a beautiful thing to see before I die."
Elijah swallowed thickly and you felt a pang of sadness. "Let's not talk of death now. Let's instead, reminisce."
You smiled up at him and you snuggled in close to him, wanting to be as close as possible for as long as possible. "That sounds wonderful."
You began to talk of some of your favorite memories, of moments you'd long since thought you'd forgotten, of adventures shared with those you loved. Elijah's favorite memories all had you in them, which both made your heart soar and ache in equal measure.
The longer you talked, the weaker you became. The sun was slowly traversing the sky, beginning its slow decent. You knew your time was short, but you couldn't bring yourself to say goodbye. Not to him.
As if he could sense your thoughts, Elijah pulled you even closer. "I would be remise if I did not tell you what is on my heart. I have no desire to have regrets."
"Tell me, then. I'm listening."
He sat up and faced you, taking your hands in his as he spoke. "You have brought a beauty and a joy to my life that I never would have had without you. You gave my life purpose, direction...meaning. You have my whole heart, my darling (Y/N). Always and forever."
Tears streamed down your face, having no energy to fight them. You didn't have words to voice your feelings, your love for him too intense for words. With what small amount of strength remained, you sent a wave of pure emotion straight into him, everything you couldn't say wrapped in a blanket of love only he could feel.
Silent tears fell from his eyes. "Please don't go," he whispered.
You pulled him back down beside you, arms wrapping around his large frame. You couldn't say anything, couldn't reassure him or comfort him. There was nothing you could do except hold him.
The sun had begun to set, painting the blue sky with beautiful shades of pink and orange. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" you asked softly.
"It is." His voice was clouded with pain, but he did his best to remain stoic for you.
"Promise me something, Elijah," you said suddenly.
"What is it?"
"Leave New Orleans. Leave Klaus. Go and live your life for you. You've spent far too long taking care of others. I don't want you to spend another 1,000 years putting yourself in last place. You deserve better."
He looked down at you and your gaze was so ernest, so pleading, that he couldn't find it in himself to say no. "I give you my word, (Y/N). I will not stay in New Orleans."
Your body relaxed against him, comforted by his promise. You knew there were plenty of loopholes, but Elijah would keep his promise to you. He never went back on his word. Ever.
"Will you stay with me?" you murmured.
"Always and forever, my love," he whispered back, placing a kiss to the top of your head.
Not long now...the sun had set and the stars were shining beautifully in the velvet night sky. Each passing moment brought you closer to the end. Despite your unnaturally long life, you found yourself unwilling to let go...you didn't want to die.
"I'm not ready to die," you whispered so softly that no human would have been able to hear you.
Elijah felt a pang in his chest at your words. The tone with which you said them nearly broke his heart right in two. "Nor am I ready to lose you."
There was, of course, another option. An option you had never considered before. You raised your head to look into his eyes.
He knew what you were thinking from your look alone. "I thought that was never an option," he whispered.
"We've never been in this situation before," you answered gently.
He looked away and shook his head. "I do not wish to make you a monster."
You reached for his cheek and turned his head back to you. "You're not a monster."
"Perhaps not in this moment, but I am capable of monstrous things."
You laughed lightly. "And I'm not? I just bound the magic of dozens of witches to protect one very immortal hybrid."
"You did that out of love. It's different."
"I beg to differ."
He shook his head firmly. "It would be unfair of me to turn you, (Y/N). You would lose your magic...your contact with the spirits, with nature. I could not take that from you."
"I believe it's my choice, is it not?"
"You need my blood, so I think it's our choice."
You sighed.
"I choose to protect your soul. I will not turn you."
There was such finality in his tone that you didn't even bother to argue with him. Besides, you didn't want to be a vampire. You just wanted to live.
He knew that better than anyone, perhaps because he knew you better than anyone.
The two of you laid there in a comfortable silence, sharing what you knew would be your last moments together. There was nothing left to say, nothing left to do. Neither of you were capable of saying goodbye, those words too difficult to formulate.
"Are you really just going to lay on this rooftop and die?"
You turned at the sound of an annoyed voice behind you. "Yes, Niklaus, that was my plan." You were surprised that he had come back, never one for goodbyes himself.
"I came up with a better one. Come, there's not much time."
Elijah stood up. "Brother?"
"Both of you, come on. We don't have time for an argument."
You looked at Klaus warily, using Elijah's body to pull yourself up. "What's the plan then, Klaus?"
"Just come with me. Please."
Klaus wasn't one to beg, so you found yourself stepping towards him on instinct. Your body had other plans as you began to collapse. Elijah caught you easily and pulled you up into his arms.
"See? She's already too weak to move. We're running out of time," Klaus insisted.
"Then lead the way, brother."
You found yourself being transported at an uncomfortable speed. The two men moved with the unnatural speed gifted to their species and you quickly lost track of your location. When you finally stopped moving, you were surprised to find yourself in the middle of the bayou.
"What are we doing way out here?" you asked in annoyance, an uncomfortable feeling settling deep in your bones.
"It was the only place I could find a witch who still had their magic," Klaus said.
"He's lucky I owe him or he likely would have gotten a stake to the heart for his troubles," a new voice said from behind you.
Elijah turned around to face the newcomer, giving you a view of the woman's face. "Sophie," you said softly.
"What are you doing in the bayou?" Elijah asked.
"After I gave information to your brother, it wasn't safe for me in the Quarter anymore, so I came out here. Apparently it's a good thing I did," she looked pointedly at you.
"You know why I did it."
"Yes, but that doesn't make it right."
"Perhaps not, but it was a much better option than killing them," you said firmly.
Sophie looked down. She knew full-well what Klaus was capable of and he was certainly not above murdering every single witch in the Quarter just because he could.
"Why are we here?" Elijah asked softly, breaking the silence.
"To help (Y/N)," Klaus said simply, as if that explained everything.
That uncomfortable feeling inside you began to intensify. Something was wrong, but you were too weak to figure out what it was.
"How?" Elijah asked again, much more firmly.
"Sophie has a plan."
And there it was...plain as day. If you'd been in your right mind, you would have noticed it right away. The feeling of darkness, and of death, lingered in the air. An oppressive feeling that threatened to drown all those around it. You recognized the feeling from hundreds of years prior, a feeling you had never understood until now. "What have you done?" you whispered.
Klaus wouldn't meet your gaze and that alone told you everything you needed to know. Sophie looked equally uncomfortable, but she wasn't backing away, which meant at some level she was okay with this.
"Do you understand what you're doing?" you asked her directly. "How dangerous this kind of magic is? It will overtake you. It will kill you."
Sophie shook her head. "I'm not afraid. Besides, I'm more powerful now than I've ever been."
"Then you're a fool," you said softly.
Elijah hadn't said a word, but the way his body stiffened told you he knew exactly what his brother had spent the last couple hours doing.
"Elijah," you whispered. "Take me home, please."
He heard you, but he didn't move. In fact, he couldn't move. He found himself frozen in place, as if he were bound to this very position. Even his voice was silenced, his mouth moved but no words escaped.
"I'm sorry, (Y/N), but you're not leaving, nor is Elijah," Klaus said firmly. "Sophie, begin the spell, please."
Sophie began an incantation you vaguely recognized. You struggled against Elijah's hold on you, as if you could somehow escape if he would just let you go. It was useless...Elijah's grip was like stone.
"He can't move, (Y/N)," Klaus said softly.
You looked over at Sophie, realizing what she'd done. "Let him go, Sophie."
She ignored you, continuing her incantation.
"They're all already dead, (Y/N)," Klaus said, forcing your attention back to him. "Do you really wish to waste their sacrifices?"
"Sacrifices?" you yelled angrily. "They didn't sacrifice anything, Niklaus! You killed them!"
"To save you!" he roared back.
"I didn't ask to be saved!"
"I couldn't sit back and let you die. Not when I was the cause," his voice softened. "I couldn't watch you die."
"If Elijah could, then so could you."
"Your death wouldn't weigh on his conscience for the rest of time."
"But it would stay with him, in his heart, for eternity."
"I am not my brother," Klaus whispered.
"That much has always been clear."
Klaus looked away from you, finding your gaze almost too painful to bear. "Use his blood," he said, addressing Sophie.
She nodded and you watched helplessly as she sliced open Elijah's skin, collecting blood from the wound on his arm before it healed in moments. She poured the blood into the bowl on the table in front of her and continued her incantation.
You felt a tingling sensation in your body, one that you had felt almost 650 years ago. The tingling turned into pain, just as you knew it would. Elijah's agony was equal to yours, but he couldn't so much as whimper.
"Please," you begged. "You don't have to do this."
Klaus shook his head. "It's too late, now. Finish it, Sophie."
Fire lit up the bowl, burning all of the contents within it. The fire spread around you, lighting up the pathways of a triangle only the dead could see.
When the fire disappeared, Sophie's chanting ceased, and you felt strength begin to return to your body, flowing through your veins.
Elijah's hold on you softened and he found himself able to move again. "(Y/N)?" he croaked. "Are you alright?"
You nodded. "Are you?"
He nodded.
The color had already returned to your cheeks and he could feel the power radiating from you, just like he always had. Clearly, the renewed linkage spell had worked.
Neither of you spoke, emotions too tangled in the moment. He gently set you down on your feet and you felt as strong as you had ever felt.
You walked over to Klaus and turned his attention to you. "36 people, Niklaus. Was it worth it?"
His eyes locked onto yours and you knew his answer before he spoke. "I would kill 1,000 people to save you, (Y/N). You are worth it."
You disagreed, but you knew arguing with him would make no difference. Instead, you turned to Sophie. "This is your only warning, Sophie. Stop practicing expression magic or lose magic forever."
Her eyes were darker than they'd ever been, confirming that she was already lost to the darkness of expression. "It's the only magic worth practicing."
You sighed. "It will kill you, Sophie. It always does." You shook your head. "You should leave...expression is not tolerated here, especially in such close proximity to the city."
"I depart for California in the morning," she answered swiftly.
You sighed again, turning your attention back to Klaus. "New Orleans is yours, Niklaus, but I'm done. I want nothing to do with you anymore."
You saw the look of pain flash across his face, but he covered it with his usual bravado. "Do whatever you want, (Y/N), but you'll be back. You can't stay away forever, especially from Elijah."
You looked at him in pity, words on your lips silenced by Elijah's first words in what felt like years.
"Wherever she goes, I will follow."
"What?" Klaus asked in shock.
"I cannot leave my heart," he said simply.
You turned to look at Elijah and were overcome with love and adoration for the man you'd loved all your life. He stepped forward and took your hand in his, the warmth you felt was nothing more than your imagination, but you didn't care. For the first time in over 6 centuries you were free. Free to go where you wanted, do what you wanted...just you and Elijah.
"Let's go," you said softly.
Elijah simply nodded and fell into step beside you, ignoring the shocked expression on his brother's face, as well as the words streaming from his mouth. "You won't last a year without me! You'll be back, both of you. You need me."
You walked away without looking back. It's not that you didn't love Klaus, that you didn't care, you were simply angry and hurt. The combination of which gave you the strength to walk away, to leave completely without any qualms.
Elijah scooped you up in his arms suddenly and you let out a surprised yelp.
"Sorry, love. I just figured this would be faster."
You laughed as he sped away from the bayou, heading back towards the city and the home you'd shared for so many years.
The two of you made quick work of the packing and then you were off to the airport, prepared to go wherever the wind would take you.
As always, Elijah used his abilities to get the two of you a private jet to anywhere in the world, so you chose Barcelona, a place you'd never been but always wanted to visit.
"Barcelona, really?" Elijah asked as he settled into his seat beside you. "You should have mentioned something sooner, my love. I would have taken you."
"We've never had the time, Elijah," you said softly.
"We've got all the time in the world now, my love. Just you and me."
"Always and forever?" you asked.
He grinned and kissed your forehead. "Always and forever."

The Best Fic I Have Ever Read
yo have you been looking for a long, well written, and currently active fic for tvd? wel, if ya pop on over to wattpad and go to chasing-lightning, check out her story Rebel Just For Kicks.
istg that story has changed my brain chemistry. Like we get 50+ (EXTREMELY LONG) chapters of character building for the FMC and subte changes to canon characters (which the writers should have done but what can you do). and MJ (fmc) actually has her own lines and things she brings to the table. she isnt a carbon copy of a character and it isnt just reusing lines already from the show. she has major character growth, and the world building the author has done is worthy of a published book. all the non canon plotlines fit so well withing the show that when i was rewatching tvd, i was so confused why my girlie MJ wasnt there. And her love story with Kol? absolute perfection. im on my third reread bc i truely cant get enough of this story. so far there are 254 chapters, but the author is still writing the story (she is ridiculously talented oml). Check it out bc I am in love with this series and you should be too.

Y/n: The kids are asleep
Elijah: ...We don't have kids
Y/n: Then tell that to you're little brother and sister who just asked me to tell them a story till they fell asleep
Elijah: Kol and Rebekah?
Y/n: Yep. I mean they were being cute, and I told them a story, but I thought you might like to know how we are now parents.
Elijah: We?
Y/n: They asked for you too, and got sad when I said you were on a phone call
Elijah: Ah, that makes sense why Kol also tried to convince me in giving him a piggyback ride yesterday.
Y/n: Did you give in?
Elijah: No, but then he went to Rebekah and sulked with her
Y/n: Parents?
Elijah pinching the bridge of his nose as y/n chuckles at him: Apparently we now are

Probably unpopular opinions:
YELLOWJACKETS: Engrossing but half-baked Showtime horror-thriller series, obviously inspired by the TV show LOST and the real-life Uruguayan rugby team lost in the Andes in 1972, about a suburban high school girls' soccer team that descends into madness while stranded for two years in the wilderness following a plane crash in the mid-1990s, split between the period leading up to and following the crash, with the characters as teenagers, and the present day, where the rescued survivors are now maladjusted adults struggling to live down what happened to them 25 years earlier.
While the show's dark humor and assorted plot mysteries command attention, it's marred by a growing sense, even in the more tightly written first season, that many of the questions have no actual answers, and the showrunners are basically just winging it — unwise with a series this structurally complicated, and the same mistake that eventually reduced LOST to an extended shaggy-dog joke.
The plot holes really begin to accumulate in the clumsy, badly paced second season, which leaves the capable adult actors struggling to navigate obvious gaps in their characters' histories and interrelationships that the writers haven't yet gotten around to mapping out, and causes what are supposed to be fireworks-laden confrontations to fizzle ineffectually. An initially amusing plotline about the adult Shawna (Melanie Lynskey) trying to cover up a murder with the help of her loyal but useless husband (Warren Kole) and snotty teenage daughter (Sarah Desjardins) eventually reveals itself as a weak imitation knockoff of SANTA CLARITA DIET that doesn't know when to pivot, and the introduction of Elijah Wood as a (ludicrous) hetero love interest for the adult Misty (Christina Ricci) creates an obvious tension between Ricci's decision to play Misty as a closeted lesbian in love with Natalie (Juliette Lewis) and the writers' apparent determination to there-homo the main characters.
However, the biggest problems with YELLOWJACKETS remain the show's ongoing reluctance to make up its mind about whether it's a psychological thriller or a supernatural horror story in the mode of Stephen King's THE SHINING — an ambiguity that's more exasperating than intriguing — and the troubling fact that the characters of color are consistently treated far more brutally (and more dismissively) than any of the white characters.

Headcanons of you being elijah’s wife and an original Part 2
You elijah and klaus were fighting off a group of witches and vampires possessed by Dahlia when suddenly in the middle of the battle you saw a girl which was not possessed was just looking from afar, the girl must not have been older than 13 years old, and she looked like you. Too much like you, like you and elijah. You froze there looking in shock at the girl that did not notice you, disappearing with a flick of her hand as a source of magic that you had never felt before rushed through you. A source of magic terribly familiar yet new.
In that moment a possessed witch sent you flying against the wall and all you saw was black as you heard your husband voice calling your name.
You woke up to the pleasant sensation of being swinging, you opened your eyes to see that you were being carried by elijah, mostly covered in blood, in bridal style, Klaus next to him
‘what happened?’ you asked, the two men turning towards you
‘a witch sent you flying against the wall and temporary killed you but nikalus and I killed the rest of them, how are you feeling?’ elijah asked you as you entered the compound
‘now fine, you two?’ you asked as elijah gently let you down
‘all good sister’ Klaus said as elijah replied ‘fine my love’, you nodded at them happy that they were unharmed
‘we should get changed before discussing our next move’ elijah told niklaus not wanting to stay in those bloody clothes much longer, his brother just nodded at him as elijah took your hand and vamp sped to your shared bedroom
‘You sure you are fine?’ elijah asked you cupping lovingly you neck as his hand moved some of the hair that with the blood had got stuck on your forehead, he knew that physically you were okay thanks to the supernatural healing but you had a look in your eyes that he had not seen in a long time, a mix of grief and sorrow
‘I’m fine, let’s just get changed’ you said dismissing his concern as elijah looked at you suspiciously as you took a step back form him
You two changed your clothes, and once you were all brand clean as you were tying your shoes and elijah was tying his tie he asked you ‘what happened today? you froze, it was like you had seen a ghost’
you finished tying your shoes and stood up going to the cabinet and taking a glass of bourbon, drawning it complete. Elijah waited patiently, his eyes squinting as he trailed all your movements trying to understand what was going on.
‘I saw her elijha’ you whispered
‘saw who?’ he asked not understanding
‘nikole. she was in her early teens but it was her. I’m sure of it’ you  said holding the table with too much strength as you not dared to look at him
Elijah had not heard those three syllables leave you mouth for almost 10 century, not since a few years after you became vampires you made him swore to never say that name again.
he carefully placed his hand on your shoulders as you still did not look at him
‘dear, nikole is dead. She died a thousand years ago’ he said with too much gentleness
‘you don’t understand. She had my eyes and your hair color. The nose-, the nose was exactly like yours but her mouth, in the shape of mine. Now tell me how- how could that be possible if it wasn’t her?’ you said now with almost anger as you turned towards him prompting him to let go your shoulders and move back towards his nightstand.
It now was him giving you just a view of his shoulders as He took a moment, closing his eyes to contain the tears that would have spilled if he didn’t calm himself. His mind rushed to his hand on your swollen belly as he talked to your unborn child smiling, the joy of holding his daughter for the first time, the first time he heard her say ‘dada’, and then the grief. The objects he had destroyed in his fists of anger, the nights he had held you crying, the look of pity on his siblings eyes when they looked at him and you.
‘my love listen to me, you used a lot of magic today also that witch made you temporary die, it must be going to your head, and the idea of the first born curse made you think about her. But is not possible’ he said with a false calm and logic, still not looking at you as he tapped quietly his fingers on the table
‘don’t patronize me elijha. I’m not crazy, I saw her before getting temporary killed that is why I froze and the witch took me by surprise’ you said almost exasperated, you needed him to believe you, you had so many emotion right now, the hope that she was alive, the fear of what would happen to your heart if it was just an illusion as he said, the grief taking over you
‘I’m not saying you are crazy, just that what you are saying is not possible’ he said gently finally looking at you
‘I felt this magic source. The magic trace was of my lineage mixed with esther’s, not only of your side of family like dahlia’s would be.’ You said using logic against him as tears threatened to fall
‘as much as I wish it was true, it can’t be. She died a thousand years ago and mother – mother burned her body…’
‘why you will not eve think of the possibility?’ you shouted. You needed him to believe you, to believe that it could be possible
‘I know the first born curse made you think of Nikole especially now that Hope is almost her age, but- but she is dead y/n and she is not coming back although I wish it was possible with all my heart’ after you became vampires, and even before, you had spent decades trying to bring your daughter back with dark magic, almost loosing yourself in it until you had tried all different spells without results, it almost looked like there was no soul to bring back from the other side
‘elijah. i’m telling you that our daughter might be alive’ you repeated calmly as tears threatened to fall
‘and I’m telling you that you know very well that is not possible, we tried everything, and thinking this will only hurt you, us, all again’
‘maybe that’s the point! She never died! She has been alive all along that is why we could not bring her back!’ you shout at gim
‘my love… it could also be a trick of our enemy to distract us from the real problem, kill dahlia and protect hope’ he tried again getting near you, his voice of such a gentleness that it almost sounded as pity, that made you angry
‘goddamit elijah! Will you listen to me? why don’t you care!’
You regrated it the moment the words left your lips. It was a lie and you knew it very well. He had been a splendid father for the short time the universe let him be. He was always the one to wake up at night when she cried and he loved pick her up and bring her to you to make her feed on your milk. Then as you slept he would sang her lullabies while holding her making her fall asleep again, a proud and content smile on his face, always.
That made him snap, his love and understanding allowing him to maintain the calm disappearing the moment you had put in question his love and devotion for your daughter.
‘how dare you accuse me of not caring! you made me swore to you to never talk about her again. Have you any idea how many times I thought about her?. How many times I wrote about her in my diaries as you would not want to talk about her? Especially since hope was born. How by seeing Hayley pregnant it reminded me of you. Of when hope was born I only could see nikole instead of her when I looked at her? I would have let myself and the world burn for our daughter so don’t you dare tell me that I don’t care!’ he shouted back, as remorse hit him a second later for having raised his voice at you, something he had done only a couple of times In your long lives
You knew you had to apologize but you did not want to you felt this anger at him for not believing you , so you decided to ran. You took your bag, ready to leave without a word
‘where are you going?’ he asked calmly looking at the floor
‘I need a drink, I’ll be at russao, call me when you will think about at least believing me’ you said exiting your shared bedroom
Elijah staid there claiming to be untouched by your affirmations but then took a bottle of burbourn and crushed it against the wall in anger, his thoughts running to the child he had lost 10 centuries before as his eyes became watery.
Elijah opened a drawyer under all his shirts there was a secret compartment
klaus had made a drawing of the three of you when Nikole was a few months old. You holding the baby as Elijah’s arms were around your middle looking down at his daughter in your arms. This instead was  a drawing Klaus had made out of memory as the ones he did back then had gotten destroyed. He had given it to elijah more than two hundred years ago after a day marcel had gotten sick and elijah mind had gone back to Nikole. Klaus had found his brother crying and had given him the drawing. Elijah had placed it in a spelled envelope and under all his clothes in moments of grief he went and looked at it. When they fled new orleans, when hope was born, and other few times.
As he poured himself a drink to tame his demons Klaus entered the room
‘where is y/n we need to prepare for the arrival of the mystical aunt’  Klaus said
Elijah did not turn, sipping his drink and looking outside of the window ‘she is mad at me’
Klaus stopped in his track confused, you and elijah never fought, and when he meant never, he really meant never. Of course in the centuries you had some jealousy or not the same view on things, or on had acted irrationally but that usually was followed by you shouting at elijh, then one leaving the room to complain to Klaus to both of you making up (and making out) in less than a few hours. But from what Klaus could see In his brother that was not the case, and he had not seen you two having a real fight in over a century.
‘we have no time for your first lovers quarrel in over a century, we need to eliminate our aunt before she comes for hope’ he insisted
‘niaklus- she thinks she saw- nikole and I told she was dillusioned ‘ elijah said his head tuning slightly but still not looking at his brother
Klaus blood froze as he took a step forward to go next to his brother, elijah had not spoken that name to him in over two centuries, you in almost 10
‘what do you mean?’ he asked carefully as in his mind nicole flashed before his eyes. The niece he had loved so deeply, the niece that was named after him. he remembered when elijah had places his daughter, klaus’s niece  in his arms for him to hold her and how scared klaus was before his heart was filled with joy looking at his niece. the way you had presented them ‘niki meet nikole’ ‘nikole meet you uncle niklaus, after you and your dad he is my favorite person, you take your name after him’, when he had tried to make her speak some words but she would only babble as elijah, an arm around your waist, scolded him ‘niklaus could you give some peace to my daughter? She is too young to make proper words’ , and the worst memory of all, the look of devastation on yours and elijah’s face as he told them that their daughter had died.
‘today she got distracted and that is why the witch was able to temporary kill her. She got distracted because she thinks she saw in the crowd a girl in early teens that had a mix of our physical features, the same Nicole had’ elijah says playing with his glass, before finally facing completely his brother, his grieving and confused face matching his
‘I didn’t want to give her hope, but what if she is right brother? nikole was a first born and mother never showed us her corpse. You yourself told me she burned it while you were hunting with fin and kol was helping Rebekah. None of us saw her corpse with our own eyes. What if she gave her to dahlia and faked her death to not make us question it?’ elijah said now startign to believe you, but knowing that it was just a fantasy.
Klaus for the first time in a long time was afraid to speak, especially knowing now the pain of having his child away from him he could not imagine the pain elijah and you had felt by loosing Nicole.
‘ as much as I wish it was true. that is unlikely ‘Lijah’ Klaus said quietly taking his brother shoulder but not meeting his eyes
‘you are right. Is just a fantasy.’ Elijah said logically moving away from his brother to not show his teary eyes
‘elijah…’ Klaus tried his eyes matching the sadness of his brother
‘is better if you go call y/n. she is angry at me. But if you explaon her the threat to Hope she will come back to her senses.’ Elijah said to his brother, his hands in his pockets as he looked at the window
‘okay brother’ Klaus replied quietly before moving towards the door, when something clicked in him
‘you remember what you promised me when hope was born?’ Klaus said going back
elijah took a moment to respond turning his head slightly to reply ‘that I’ll always do my best so that you will never have to experience the grief y/n and I share’
‘and I promise you now that if nikole is really alive I’m going to do whatever it takes for you to have your daughter back’ Klaus swore touching again elijah’s shoulder
‘thank you brother’ elijah murmured overwhelmed sqeeazing his brother’s arm
