Pairing: Elijah Mikaelson x fem!Reader x Dean Winchester
Summary: You and the Mikaelsons are fighting a powerful witch that’s trying to take over New Orleans. The only solution: banishment to another universe. However, the spell goes… wrong, and it’s not the witch that ends up in another universe, but you. - At the same time, over a thousand miles away in a bunker in Lebanon, Kansas, an alarm goes off: a rift has opened up. The Winchesters and their angel partners in crime decide to investigate. What will they find when they get to New Orleans?

Previously: The fact that the call went through and it rang almost made you cry with relief. Finally, you thought and impatiently shifted your weight from one foot to the other and back. "Come on, pick up, pick up pick up pick up," you urged Rebekah on as it rang twice, three times, four times, but no one answered. Then you were connected to her mailbox. "This is Dean Winchester. If this is an emergency, leave a message." You stared at your display. You'd clearly dialed Rebekah's number. "Who the hell is Dean Winchester?," you muttered to yourself.
A gentle breeze fluttered through the curtains of your bedroom windows. Warm sunlight trickled through the half closed blinds and danced around the room, broken into colorful spots by the rainbow suncatcher that dangled from the curtain rod. Together with the birdsongs outside, the tinkling of the glass pieces mixed into a dulcet, almost narcotic ambiance.
You kept wafting in and out of a blissful sleep. In the moments that you were more alert you could register the sensation of tender strokes over the top of your hair, fingers trickling down your shoulders and over your back, drawing circles over your bare skin.
There was nowhere you felt safer, nowhere you felt calmer than right here. Your head resting in the shallow hollow right below his ribs, an arm thrown lazily across his abdomen while the other one was tucked neatly underneath you.
"I love you." You heard his murmur as much as you felt it in the vibration of his chest. Your lips curled into a sleepy smile as you felt a kiss on the top of your head. His fingers continued to dance across your back in soft strokes and you found yourself dozing off again when his hand travelled to your shoulder and gave it a squeeze. "Time to wake up!" Your response came in the form of an uncompliant noise. If it was up to you, you'd continue to stay in bed like this until noon at least. Maybe the whole day. You willed his hand to drift back to your spine, but instead, there was another squeeze on your shoulder, this one more urgent. You shook your shoulder as if to rid yourself of his hand and wiggled your back, a wordless hint to resume his activity from just a few seconds ago. Just a second later though, his fingers dug into your shoulder harshly. The resulting pain that shot down your arm and into your neck made you jump up.
"Elijah, what the fuck!" you exclaimed as you spun to face him, but when you turned around, your stomach dropped. It wasn't Elijah you were facing, but Athea. Her face was ashen, her eyes shot red, her lips blue and purple. Blood trickled out of the corner of her mouth as her lips drew into a devilish grin. "I said time to wake UP!"
You shot up from where you'd been laying asleep just a second ago with a loud gasp. Your heart was racing in your chest as you tried to make sense of your surroundings. Shabby, flowery wallpaper, littered with cracks and peeling off the walls in more places than it stuck to. A car horn blared somewhere outside. The neon sign that announced open vacancies to the freeway nearby flickered a couple of times, then resumed shining, drenching your room in its orange light. Every surface that held a little bit of color in the day was now rendered black and white with a tinge of orange. It looked like someone had used a sepia filter on the place, resulting in a surreal atmosphere.
You threw your covers to the side in an attempt to rid yourself of the fabric that was somehow both too warm and cold at the same time. On top of being itchy, your blanket was now damp with sweat. You scrambled out of bed and stumbled over to the sink in the corner where you splashed your face with cold water a couple of times. Your heart was still hammering in your chest when you glanced in the tarnished mirror.
Your dream had rattled you. Under normal circumstances, it wouldn't have been as big of a deal. But with the previous day's events, a fly bumping against the window could have set you off. You were on edge, restless, homeless, alone. You had no harbor, no safe space, no safety net to fall back on. Any other night, Elijah would have pulled you close into the comfort of his arms and whispered soothing words into your ear until you had fallen back asleep. Now, his lack of presence felt palpable.
You shuffled back to the bed and slumped down onto the lumpy mattress. The floor beneath your feet was wilted, the linoleum all scratched up and blotchy. It went hand-in-hand with the derelict state of the walls. What had once been a colorful - mind you, not necessarily tasteful - scene was now nothing more but a testament to the vast sea of sad stories this place had witnessed over the years. Whoever took shelter here didn't do so out of choice, but necessity. Just like you had.
You had arrived in this version of the world with only a few dollars in your pocket. There had never really been a reason for you to keep a lot of cash on hand - being part of the Mikaelson family had many perks, obscene wealth being one of them. Most of the people you interacted with knew your status, and, more importantly, your boyfriend. Dating Elijah meant that even if you were out of cash or a credit card, you could open a tab on the Mikaelson name. Here, however... What you had brought with you into this world was just about enough to cover the bill for one night's stay.
One more thing to be added to your list of 'problems that need fixing right away', although shelter and food would probably rise to the top of that list rather soon, surpassing 'find a way home to my original universe' very quickly. The latter alone came with a multitude of problems on its own. Where would you find someone to do the spell for you? Where would you get the ingredients? Or the spell itself?! It was like you were fighting a Hydra. With each question, two more appeared, and while it left you with thrice the amount of questions, not a single solution presented itself. It was simply overwhelming. You rolled over to the side and dug your fists into your hair. It was a pitiful image, the way you were huddled into fetal position. Thick strands of hair bundled up in your fists, tugging and pulling on your skull as if, with enough force, you could not only pluck out your hair, but your thoughts too.
For the second time today, you let the tears come, willing them to lull you to sleep.

"And for you, sugar?" The waitress beamed at Dean, the glint in her eyes hinting at the willingness to serve more than what could be ordered off the menu; a phone number perhaps. She was cute too, what with her apron accentuating her hips in a way that was sure to bring in a good amount of tips and long, blonde hair, tied back in a ponytail that swayed behind her when she walked. Her nametag read 'Candice'. Usually, Dean would have gone for her, if it hadn't been for the hours long drive and awfully short night he'd had.
"Coffee and waffles, please," he replied in a gruff tone. A bit too harsh, but it had been a very short night and it was very early. There was a brief hint of disappointment in Candice's eyes, but she quickly recovered and wrote his order down on her notepad. "Comin' right up!" Candice turned on her heels and hopped away. 'There's way too much pep in that girl's step at this hour,' Dean thought to himself and rubbed his face.
"I talked to Sam before you woke up. He said him and Jack were able to trace the rift to a radius of roughly 50 yards." Cas laid a map out on the table of the diner and tapped on a location. "This is where the signal emanated from." "Did they get any sleep at all?" Dean leaned forward and inspected the street map. The spot Cas was pointing at wasn't too far off from where they were at. "You know Jack doesn't sleep." Dean rolled his eyes and fished for a pen in his pocket. "I meant Sammy." After a quick consult of the map's scale, he laid his index finger and thumb down on the map over the spot Cas had pointed at. "I imagine he got as much sleep as you did." Cas replied as Dean drew a circle around the mentioned area. "Hmm." Candice returned with a cup of steaming coffee and a chamomile tea for Cas. Dean thanked her as she served their drinks which earned him a wink before she skipped off again to greet a new customer that had just come in. "Chamomile tea? Really?" He raised a brow at Cas. "Yes, Dean, chamomile tea. It's supposed to have calming effects." The angel replied before he blew on his tea. A quick smile played around Dean's lips. It had been many years since he'd first met Castiel - he'd come such a long way since then. Sitting in a diner, blowing on his tea before occasionally taking a sip - a far cry from the once awkward, so-far-from-human kind of behavior he'd once exhibited. "And that works on angels too?" Cas gave him a glare. "It's about the principle." Dean chuckled and took a sip of his own cup. Not bad for diner coffee. "If you say so. What do you need calming for anyway? Nervous about what we're gonna find?" "Aren't you?" Dean only shrugged. "It's been almost a day since that rift opened. So far, there's no screaming, no reports, nothing. I guess whatever came through can't be too bad."

The smell of greasy breakfast foods seeped into your nose as you walked up to the counter. Despite your hunger - you hadn't really eaten anything in almost 24 hours if you didn't count the liquid dinner that Cami had served you - the scent turned your stomach. It couldn't just be attributed to last night's drinks though. What you were experiencing could be more adequately described as an emotional hangover - your face was puffy and swollen from having cried yourself to sleep, your muscles were sore from being tensed up for hours and your brain felt foggy, struggling to form coherent thoughts. The emotional turbulence and lack of a restful sleep were taking their toll on you.
When you tried to climb onto one of the stools at the counter you had to grab onto the slightly sticky surface to help pull you up. It bordered on embarrassing, but there wasn't enough emotional capacity left within you to care. With a grunt and a groan you finally properly settled onto the high chair. Your upper body slumped over the counter, propped up only by your elbows on the surface, your head coming to rest in the mold of your hands. It was the most comfortable position you could muster at the moment, albeit not the most proper one.
It was still early in the morning, prime-time for the morning rush of customers looking to catch a bite before work, but the place was rather empty with only a few tables occupied. There couldn't have been more than six patrons in the entire joint, you included. So instead of the loud morning chatter one might have expected, it was rather quiet, save for the radio playing in the kitchen and the quiet murmurs of the table a row behind you. It was almost comforting.
A waitress appeared in front of you and slid a menu between your elbows. "Long night, sugar?" She popped the gum she was chewing and got to work on the cutlery that was in a pile next to her, waiting to be rolled into the feeble plastic-y napkins this type of place tended to serve. You only threw an eye over the menu before you pushed it back to her. The quick glance had been enough to force your stomach into summersaults. "More like a really short night," you mumbled as you pinched the bridge of your nose, trying to keep from hurling right then and there. Your waitress snickered, but it wasn't mean. "Been there. You want somethin' to eat? Get your strength back there?" She placed a ready set of cutlery on the tray next to her as she eyed you carefully. "Get some color back in that face, hm?" "God, no." Your nose wrinkled out of reflex at the idea of being served a plate of food right now. "I mean, thanks, but I'll just take a pot of coffee." "You mean a cup, sugar?" You shook your head. "I'll need a pot if I want to get through the day ahead of me." "Alright, I'ma get that goin' for ya." The waitress finished wrapping up a set before she headed over to the large coffee machine at the back of the service area.
One pot of caffeine later, the fog in your head had disappeared enough for a plan to slowly take form.
Every single question that had haunted you last night was still still jumping through your brain, but the fresh pump of caffeine sharpened your mind enough to sort them by priority.
How would you get back? - Well, you only knew of one way, and that was the spell that had gotten you here in the first place. As far as you knew, the same way you'd arrived would be your ticket back where you'd come from.
Where would you get the spell? - You'd been a part of assembling the essentials for the spell to work, but you hadn't gathered every component yourself, nor did you have the full list in your head, never mind the spell itself; which, on top of things, you wouldn't be able to perform, because despite having been part of the supernatural scene for years, you were still awfully, painfully, plain-and-nothing-but human.
So taken for granted that you could get your hands on the spell and its ingredients again (a problem that was subsequently moved down on your list and marked with a lower priority), there was still the question of who would perform the spell and what it would cost you. You figured the latter could be figured out somehow (perhaps a case of blind optimism on your part, or just a natural side-effect of having lived as a Mikaelson for years - payment was never an issue, if you were a Mikaelson), but the question of who posed a new question in of itself, and decidedly the most important one:
Was magic even part of this universe?
It had dawned on you that a simple 'yes' was not a given. The research into Kol's spell had only brought up enough information to conclude that yes, alternate universes existed and yes, it was possible to travel between them, but it took immense power and very rare ingredients to do so. You could only guess that it would have been a more common practice if that wasn't the case. The confirmation that alternate universes do exist was about the extent of your knowledge on the topic. To anyone else, your lack of information might have seemed ignorant, but it was really the result of having had one too many life principles turned upside down. You'd grown up in a life where vampires, werewolfs and witches were part of fairytales and not something that actually existed, until you found out that they very much did. You got thrown into the supernatural life by accident, and eventually, it became your life. Things that you'd never dreamed were possible were suddenly part of day-to-day life. So when Freya explained that the spell she had found in Kol's lair opened up a portal, or a rift, as it was referred to, to an alternate dimension, you just rolled with it. Of course it did. Why wouldn't it. Your boyfriend and his family were vampires after all, with a few werewolf genes mixed in here in there. Why wouldn't there be such a thing as alternate universes and a way to travel between them?
But therein lay your problem. Alternate. Meaning not entirely similar to yours. Just because Cami was also a bartender in this universe didn't mean that everything else was also the same.
You'd gotten confirmation of that last night when you had googled every single business and location that you knew your family owned. It had seemed like a smart idea, but had soon driven you into an even more desperate state. The more places you googled, the more names of holders appeared on your screen that meant nothing to you. It became more and more apparent that not only were your Mikaelsons not here, there were no Mikaelsons here whatsoever. Surely, it was debatable - what was worse, to know that this universe's version of your loved ones didn't know you, or that they didn't exist at all? But to you, the answer was clear. Knowing that there was no shape or form of Elijah in this world - not anymore, anyway - made you feel even lonelier, if that was possible at all.
So your most urgent question, your highest priority of the day was crystal clear: find out if magic is real in this universe.
What a perfectly normal quest to go on.
You couldn't have felt more comical if you'd tried.

"Alright, let's get going." Dean stood up from their table and stretched his arms out behind his back. His body was still a bit sore from the long drive they'd gone on yesterday. He loved being behind Baby's wheel, but sitting in one position for hours still did something to his limbs, and it wasn't favorable.
As he stretched himself, his eyes landed on the cake display next to the counter that was just being filled up. Candice had a couple of pies laid out on the counter next to her and was now busy carefully loading them into the display one by one.
"Dean." Cas pulled his attention back, clearly waiting for him to move.
"Just a sec, Cas." It was pie, after all. Fresh pie.
He sauntered over to the counter where a few pies were still lined up. A big smile stretched over his face as his placed his hands on the edge and leaned over the tiled surface to catch a whiff of the freshly baked goods. "Now where have you been hiding these beauties!"
Candice smiled and wiped her hands on her apron. "Fresh outta' the oven! You want a piece?"
Dean scoffed, but the smile never left his face. "Do I want a piece. Make that a whole pie! You got apple?"
Candice peered over the containers in front of her, then pulled one out that she'd just put into the display. Dean's smile now stretched from ear to ear. "Candice, you just became my favorite person."
The waitress laughed, but a hint of redness crept up her neck and into her cheeks. "You want that for here or to go?"
"To go, please. My partner and I gotta go."
Candice nodded as she wrapped tinfoil over the pie and carefully placed the aluminum container in a plastic bag. "Partner, eh? You guys' cops?"
It was Dean's turn to nod. He was about to reply when a voice interrupted him.
"Hey, could I get the check?"
It was a woman two chairs over. She couldn't have been a lot younger than him, five years by most. She was clutching her coffee cup like her life depended on it, and there was an empty pot of coffee in front of her. Her eyes briefly met Dean's as he looked over to her and she quickly looked down, avoiding his gaze.
"Be right with ya, sugar," Candice piped and handed the plastic bag over to Dean. "That'll be 10 dollars." Her cheeks were still flushed, but she matched Dean's smile, seemingly encouraged by his enthusiasm for her pie. He fished two notes out of his back pocket and placed them into Candice's hand. "That's 15 for ya'. You just made this morning a whole lot brighter, Candice."
Candice beamed at the Winchester and he gave her a wink, then headed towards the exit of the diner. He'd almost made it to the door when he heard the voices behind him.
"That'll be two dollars fifty." Candice was presumably talking to the woman who'd ordered the check just before.
"I... I'm 50 cents short."
'None of my business,' said a voice in his head, and it wasn't. But something about the shame in her voice made him turn around.
Candice was looking at the woman like she didn't know what to do. The woman had obviously been through it - hell, her eyebags looked worse than Dean's, and he'd had a rough night. The waitress seemed to be thinking the same thing and looked like she was caught in a conflict between empathy and having to do her job. Before she could say anything, Dean caught up to the two and placed a five dollar bill on the counter.
"I got it."
The woman's head whipped around and she looked at Dean dumbfounded. "I- no, I can't, you don't have to." Dean smiled at her warmly. "I know I don't. But it looks like you're having a rough time and so did I, until my morning just got turned around." He lifted the plastic bag that contained the pie and winked at Candice, who turned even brighter in response. "So I figured maybe I could do the same for you." He winked again, this time at the woman, although it didn't nearly have the same effect on her as it did on the waitress. Instead of blushing, she looked like she was about to refuse his offer again, before she nodded and gave a small smile. "Thank you. That's very kind of you."
A moment later, Dean met up with Cas at the impala. The angel seemed slightly unnerved when he got there. "What took you so long?"
Dean fumbled with the keys and held up the plastic bag once more. "Pie."
Cas rolled his eyes and huffed. "Of course. I can't believe how chill you are about this. The last time we dealt with an open rift, an archangel came through! I don't understand why you're not more worried about this!"
The key to the car had gotten stuck in the keyring and wouldn't come out with just one hand. Frustrated, Dean placed the bag on the roof of the car to free up his other hand. "Believe me, I know. You don't gotta' remind me." He shot Cas a glare before he returned his gaze on the keys.
"Then why are you taking your time to buy pie? Why are we not already there yet? I still don't understand why we didn't go last night when we got here." Castiel was obviously distressed. As he urged Dean on, his voice got even deeper than usual, drenched with urgency.
"Because," Dean exclaimed, "I was tired, Cas! We drove over 16 hours and that was after we just got home from a case! I'm tired! Forgive me if I'm not that excited to be jumping right into the next one!" He slammed his fist on Baby's roof. Both of the men angrily stared at each other over a moment of silence before Cas spoke again.
"It's a rift, Dean."
The Winchester groaned. Cas didn't have to say more than that. He knew how urgent the situation was and, truth be told, he wasn't entirely sure why he was taking things so slowly. It was like some small part of him was worried it would be a repeat of the Michael situation. He sighed and finally managed to get the key un-stuck.
"I know." He opened the door and put the pie in the backseat. "Let's go."
He'd just closed the driver's door when there was a knock on the window. Dean was surprised to see the woman from the diner standing there. He quickly rolled down his window.
"Hey, uh, this might sound a bit weird, but, umh...," the woman started before he could say anything. He raised his eyebrow. "Yeah?"
She looked uncomfortable, like she didn't want to say what she was about to say. Something about it made Dean uneasy. He had a feeling this wasn't just about the coffee he'd paid for. Slowly, so she wouldn't notice, he reached behind his back and laid a hand on his gun. The woman wrung her hands and glanced up at the sky. Dean's hand tightened around the holster. Finally, she met his eyes again.
Tumblr media
The dark blonde haired man in the car in front of you was beginning to look impatient, and you couldn't blame him. He'd paid for your coffee, and now here you were, stumbling around your words. Then again, you couldn't be sure you'd heard them right when you'd come out of the diner.
You took a deep breath before you spoke.
"Uh... did you say anything about a rift?"

A/N: This one almost had me in tears because I just couldn't figure out how to get Y/N and Dean to meet. Only took about a month for the idea to finally come to me 🙄 But here we are! Once I got over that hurdle, it was like a walk in the park, haha. Unfortunately we didn't get to see our Mikaelson family in this chapter, but they'll be back soon! Stay tuned!
Feedback is greatly appreciated! 😊 Please let me know if you'd like to be added to the taglist!

Warnings: 18+ MDNI please! There really isn't anything to warn about in this one. We're just getting started. There canon typical threats and mentions of free will being taken away. A single mention of being sold. I think that's it.
Author’s Note: This should have been out ages ago, but it's finally done and ready for you guys! Also I would like to note that in this chapter, the twins are 20 years old. I usually try to keep age out of my fics but for some reason it was a detail that was needed. However, before we fully jump into the story the twins will be 25.
I do not and will not ever give permission for my fics to be copied and posted on other sites. Don’t do it. Don’t be that person that ruins it for me and everyone else.
Feedback gives me life and motivation for future things. While likes are appreciated, reblogs are gold. Seriously, if you enjoyed this in the slightest, please reblog ♥

A sense of deja vu washed over the L/Ns as they stood within the Mikaelson study. Elijah had stood by the large bay windows as he went over the written contract in his hands. Each paragraph of it he had read thrice to ensure he hadn’t missed anything. Anything to help them out of their own stupidity.
“What persuaded you to go to the De Martels?” Elijah’s voice had almost sounded bored. Almost as if he wasn’t worried about the details that the pages contained. But after being around for as long as he had, it was as easy as breathing to make it seem like there was nothing to be worried about.
“We weren’t meeting deadlines as we should have been.” Dante L/N had said keeping his chin up. Unlike his visit with his rather distant grandmother, he wouldn’t look away from Elijah. He knew that all he had to do was blink the wrong way and there was a possibility of not opening his eyes again. “With the recent region transfer of powers, we were close to losing everything.”
The regions were constantly changing. Ever since the uprising, country and state lines no longer existed. Territories were claimed through slaughter while creating new lines. Regions belonged to those who had dared to take it over and maintain it. This family of L/N’s had lived on the border of where the De Martels had taken over and where The Mikaelsons had control of the region.
The Mikaelsons’ region contained what used to be a majority of the southern states. Most of the gain had been due to Klaus claiming it. Taking out the annoying young that refused to listen had been easy. Running the region had been a completely different story. One that Klaus left Elijah to deal with.
The stories that had been passed down through the generations had expressed that Elijah had changed since the vampires had taken over the world. The nobility of the Original vampire had died the moment his eldest sister had been murdered at the hands of humans that sought out to rid the world of the supernatural.
The L/Ns hadn’t personally known the Mikaelsons until recently. The young couple had barely made it back home after the birth of their twins when they were introduced to the Mikaelsons. A binding contract had been made that night. One that would ensure that the family would be protected until the children became of age.
“Why not come to me with these matters?” Elijah asked as he placed the contract down on the table. “The De Martels may have obtained new territory, but that does not instantly grant them ownership of business.”
It amused Elijah on how easily humans nowadays would jump into the agreement with vampires without looking over anything. While at times it had been amusing, he longed for the days that the humans would actually think before making a deal with a devil.
“Much like the night you came to us,” Dante began. “The De Martels had come knocking. Every piece of data had been combed through and used to present us with this offer. I believed it to be beneficial, until Clara had expressed how blindly I had gone into this.”
A small smirk pulled at the corner of Elijah’s lips. “How is the darling Clara doing these days?” He had known Clara for a handful of centuries. While he had never interfered in her life in ways he wished he had, he watched as the woman had grown into a power of her own. “Must have been one painstakingly long night if she looked over this.” He waved his hand towards the contract.
“Is there truly no loophole?” Dante’s wife asked, ignoring the questions that had been asked by the vampire. “I do not wish to be rude, but I know the safety of my children is at stake. And with that safety is also the agreement we have with your family. I’d hate for it to be violated by my husband's mistake.”
Elijah sighed as looked at her. “There is no loophole. The De Martels know how to work things in their favor. But with or without your husband’s ‘mistake’.” His eyes flashed over to him for a moment before looking back towards her. “I give you my word that I will do everything in my power to ensure your children stay safe.” He watched as she let out a shuddering breath. Even if the stories said he had become ruthless, everyone knew his word was binding. Elijah Mikelson never broke his word.
“Thank you.” She said with a slight nod.
He nodded in return. “How are their lessons?”
The three of them knew this was a way to change the subject. To change it in a way that would give the two humans some breathing room, even if it was just for a moment.
“Alexander is thriving.” She said with a smile pulling at her lips. “We believe that in a few years time he’ll be able to take over the business and when the time is right, he’ll do fine with the prophecy you’ve told us.”
“What of Y/N?” Elijah asked and he watched their faces fall. It caused him to raise a brow.
“Her head is in the clouds more.” She said with a sigh. “It is as if she knows that her life will be set and the importance of lessons isn’t at the top of her list.”
“Perhaps I should speak with her.” Elijah offered. He watched their eyes widen for a moment in fear. “Fear and ignorance is what has led us into our current situation. Striking fear into Y/N will do nothing but hinder her. It is my intention to help steer her in the right direction.”
“With Compulsion?” Dante asked, a bit of venom lacing his words. The need to protect his daughter rising within his veins.
Elijah scoffed. “Anyone else would. They’d actually do worse to her in order to get her to fall in line.” With each word that he said the two in front of him had their fear grow at the possibilities that could happen to their daughter. “It’d be easy to bend her mind to do as needed. To make her obedient. However, my method of speaking to someone who could potentially change the course of things isnt to manipulate them in any way. I was merely suggesting a moment to encourage her to use those clouds she's found herself in to her advantage.”
If there was one thing that hadn’t changed with Elijah, his way with words was enough to give the right push without so much as using compulsion. There were other methods to ensure things were done as they needed to be. And while he would occasionally use compulsion to his advantage on numerous occasions, using it on Y/N was and never would be considered an advantage. Not when some twist in Fate deemed the L/N twins the very two that would give the world back the balance nature so desperately wanted.
Before the Vampires had taken over, Freya had strange premonitions that gave heavy meanings to peace and balance. Flashes of a future that seemed so chaotic and almost barbaric had plagued the witch for weeks with no understanding of what it could mean. What threat the Mikaelsons would face.
Elijah could easily remember the day Freya had told him and their siblings of some prophecy that was shown to her. The details were almost laughable. How could a world change so much to warrant nature to demand a balance when the details of it all had seemed so fictional. While the majority of the siblings had brushed it off, Elijah had asked for every details.
“The natural balance of things will be threatened. I do not know by who or what, let alone when this chaos is supposed to unfold.” Freya explained. “I just know that a particular set of twins from a particular bloodline are supposed to be the balance that we will need.”
“What kind of balance would they even be capable of providing?” Elijah asked. He had known about several covens and their fascination with twins.
“One will stay human. The other will become a vampire when the time is right.” She explained. “What I’ve seen of them, they aren’t of current times. It will be some time before they are even born, let alone old enough for what needs to be done.”
“Nature doesn’t wait for it’s balance to manifest generations later.” He noted.
“I know.” She sighed. “That is where it doesn’t make sense. Why will the balance favor vampires so easily? All I know are the images and names of the children. Something horrible is going to happen, Elijah and I don’t know if I’ll be around to help fix it.”
“Tell me how I can help.” He offered, wanting to ease the worry that was building up within his sister.
“Unless you know fraternal twins named Alexander and Y/N L/N, then I don’t even know where to start with the help.”
A month later the world descended into chaos and there wasn’t much the Mikaelsons could do to stop it from unfolding. They could only adapt as the world changed. Including murdering the hundreds of humans that had hunted down and murdered every witch within New Orleans, including Freya.
Elijah had kept every detail Freya had told him locked within his mind. A way to hold on to not only the memory of his sister, but to make sure he did everything he could to help fulfill the prophecy that she had seen.
It had been Clara that had told Elijah about the twins when they had been born. At first it had only been mentioned out of disbelief. The L/Ns never had twins in their family and the first set had been born within the freedom of her protection. From there, Elijah had questioned about their names. And when he had every detail, he knew they were who Freya had seen.
That had been twenty years ago. Elijah had created a contract that would work in the world’s favor. The twins would get the protection they needed while ensuring they received the proper education and training for what was destined for them. While Elijah had hoped that ‘right time’ wouldn’t come until they were well into their twenties, he couldn’t be a hundred percent about it. All he could do was prepare them.
“She does prefer you over her recent tutors.” Her voice broke Elijah from his thoughts of the past. “Maybe speaking with you would be best.”
She was trying to ease the tension that was growing between the three of them. It hadn’t been a lie though. The three of them had noticed the way Y/N had preferred the way Elijah tutored her over the hired tutors. She wasn’t so easily distracted with the humans that tried to keep up with the lessons that Elijah had instructed the twins take.
Elijah nodded his head. “Have they traveled with you?”
“Of course.” Dante nodded.
“Then send her in and I’ll discuss it with her.” That was the only kind of dismissal that Elijah was giving them. He wasn’t going to continue the conversation when he knew it would lead to Elijah probably losing his temper on Dante over his stupidity.
He watched as the pair collected their things, including the contract and stepped out of the study. Elijah had been alone for only a few moments before Y/N had stepped into the room. She hadn’t even bothered to knock on the door. And for a brief moment, an amused smile pulled at Elijah’s lips.
“My parents said you wished to speak with me?” She asked as she closed the study door behind her.
It was strange to see how much she had reminded him of how humans used to react before things changed. In comparison to her parents Y/N didn’t give off an ounce of fear. Where her mother had kept her eyes downward, Y/N’s eyes stayed focused on him. There wasn’t even fear that he’d use compulsion with how she held his gaze.
Her eyes had matched her mother’s but there were flecks of silver that seemed to find a new home within her irises any time she blinked. Alexander’s eyes had the same thing but with gold flecks. But unlike Y/N, the flecks never seemed to change position as hers did. But there was one thing for certain as Elijah took in her eyes. She did not fear the world around her one bit.
“I did.” He nodded his head. “I was told your preference of tutors is making it difficult to focus on your studies.”
The neutrality she had on her features the moment she walked in had now shifted. A slight frown had pulled at her lips. However her eyes never left his face. “It’s not a matter of preferring specific tutors. It feels one sided.” When she watched him raise his brow, she continued. “The tutors are human. Any history lessons that are being provided are from that of a human. A human that has learned the details with prejudices embedded. I find it difficult to understand it when venom is laced in the words so often.”
A small hum of acknowledgement had left Elijah. “That is the point of some of those lessons. Words spewed out of hatred when the world descended into chaos will give you an opened mind when learning of what can be prevented. Yes, a vampire could give you more in depth details and firsthand accounts. It would include, if not be filled with more of the same venom about humans.”
“I understand.” She nodded. She paused for a moment, sorting out her words. “I know my tutors have been switched out more often than Alex. I do try, Elijah. I pass my courses and attempt to stay on track. But-”She stopped herself. A string of thoughts playing through her mind that she should probably keep the matter to herself. “I will make sure I do not disappoint.”
Elijah hadn’t missed the way she stopped herself or how her eyes had shifted away as she decided against whatever it was she was about to say. He had known how many times the tutors had changed. He had been the one to replace them each time. He just never understood why, until he was speaking with her now.
“Alexander doesn’t receive the same venom in the lessons.” It wasn’t a question, but Y/N began shaking her head quickly.
“No. He does not.” Her eyes hadn’t come back up to Elijah. She had now been looking down at her hands. “I know this prophecy like the back of my hand. I know I am supposed to help restore the balance with Alex. I am human until necessary. I do not expect to be treated as some savior that has the world at their feet.” She finally brought her attention back up to Elijah. She could see something different within his eyes that she didn’t believe she had seen before. She just couldn’t place what it was. “But I’d prefer not to be treated as if I am filth for being the one to become a vampire in this deal.”
“You haven't mentioned this to your parents?” Elijah found himself walking around the desk, attempting to give some comfort. Though he made no move to actually do so.
“Not since the first time.” She shook her head. “They feel as though I am crying wolf when Alex doesn’t have the same thing happening to him.
Elijah nodded. “Tomorrow, you’ll have a new tutor. Alexander will continue on with the one he currently has.” When he saw her open her mouth to protest, he held up his hand. “A vampire one to ensure the cycle doesn’t continue.”
“My parents-”
“Will be made aware of who they will be inviting into their home.” He gave a single nod of his head. “We will try it this way. If there isn't improvement, we’ll change it back to the way it was.” Elijah watched as she nodded her head. “That will be all.”
Y/N nodded her head before she turned around to leave. She had barely taken a step before turning back around. “Elijah, there is something you should know about, that my parents do not know yet. Only because I wouldn't put it past them to tell you.”
“What would that be?” He asked.
“I’ve- we’ve been having visions of things.” She watched the way his eyes widened slightly. “Things from the past and possibly future things from the look of it. But it wakes us up like a nightmare. Alex denies that it’s happening, but I can hear him pacing at night just after I have mine.”
“What was the last thing you saw?” He asked curiously.
“Chaos.” She shrugged slightly. “Witches being murdered. A woman with blonde hair tried to reach out, but couldn’t. It was like she was trying to tell me something and I couldn’t figure it out.”
“How often do these happen?” He knew this was something to do with who the twins were, what they were meant for.
“It randomly happens. Once or twice a month. But the first one happened the night of our birthday. “
Elijah moved back towards the desk and opened one of the bottom drawers before coming back around. He came to a stop directly in front of her and handed her an empty journal. “Write them down, please. Any detail you recall once you wake. Even if it frightens you to think, write it down. The next time either I drop by or your parents come to see me, bring it. That way we can try to piece together what you are seeing.”
Taking the journal, she held it close to her and nodded her head. “It's getting close, isn't it?”
Elijah sighed softly. “That I don’t know. But it seems like it may be the beginning of it.”
Her eyes fell to the journal in her hands. “There's one vision that I think you should know about now.” She couldn't bring her eyes back up. Not with what she was about to tell him. And the thoughts of the vision actually caused her eyes to well up.
Elijah hadn't missed the way her voice almost dropped to a whisper. Nor did he miss the way she was purposely keeping her attention from him. And for the first time since he met Y/N, he saw the fear that was seeping into her.
He gently brought his fingers under chin and lifted it, bringing her attention towards him. He saw the tears instantly and if anything the silver flecks in her eyes were almost gone.
“What is it?” His voice had almost been the same level as hers, with a comforting touch.
“I was still human.” She began. A need to make it known that detail was clear in the vision. “I was sold to Purgatory.”

Elijah watched as girls were holding hands, dancing in a circle. Spring was arriving so there was a celebration for the season. Amongst them a girl with flowers in her hairs. Her smile so radiant it captured Elijah to the bone. Unable to keep his gaze away from her. From you. You let go of the girl’s hands, spinning around breathless. Your eyes fell upon him, smiling whilst catching your breath.
A girl bumped into you, making you stumble forwards. Elijah rushed over as you had just stumbled a bit forwards. You took a hold of his wrist, smiling mischievous. Before Elijah could react, you pulled him with you into the circle of dancers around the big rooted tree. Grabbing him, you joined him in the dance.
Hopping around the tree with a constant smile on your lips. Elijah felt a bit shy at first, knowing his siblings were watching from somewhere. But soon his shyness faded away when he only had eyes for you. The village girl with flowers in her hair.
You gasped soft when Elijah pressed you against the wall in some alleyway. Smiling before he kissed your lips tenderly. Then forcefully. It was as instant as spring came. The love you were feeling for Elijah and the love he had for you. Not a month later, he introduced you to his siblings. Shared with them that you were going to get married. Niklaus was at first opposed to it. Telling Elijah it was wrong to love you. Rebekah had always been supportive.
Seeing the love you had for each other. Despite Niklaus’s interference, Elijah and you got married.  It was a blissful day. You came to live with Elijah in the manor. His siblings lived in an estate nearby. Close, but not close enough to invade your private life. Life was good, life was wonderous with your husband. A husband who didn’t hold any secrets from you… or did he?
Elijah was working in the garden, unrooting a stomp. He paused for a moment, wiping some sweat of his forehead. From a distance he saw you, tending to the roses. He smiled seeing how gentle you were with them. You turned your head to look back at him. Raising your hand with a bubbly smile. Elijah blew you a kiss from afar. You pretended to catch it and pressing it close to your heart. Elijah returned to his work. Nearly having unrooted the stomp.
It stood in the way of the beautiful garden. Elijah grunted, easing in his strength to not draw suspicion to you. Then his eyes widened. The strong scent of blood filling his nostrils at it alerted his brain. He couldn’t help it, but the dark veins around his eyes started to show. Sharp fangs coming out, needing blood. It has been almost months since he last tasted human blood. Keeping his identity secret to you. He looked away, panting loud to supress his hunger.
Looking over his shoulder, he saw you were holding your finger. Most likely you had pricked yourself on one of the thorns. Elijah tore his gaze away, fighting the primal instinct inside of him. His head pounded with desperation for blood, making him press his hands against it.
Unable to control himself any longer, he went over to you. You looked up, noticing your husband suddenly close. – “Oh, Elijah.” – you said as he knelt down beside you, drawing your bleeding finger closer to him. – “It is but a small sting.” – you told him that it was truly nothing. He didn’t need to worry for a little prick. Elijah took in a deep breath, taking in the smell of your blood. – “Allow me.” – he responded bringing your finger closer to him. You smiled expecting him to wrap a handkerchief around it. Instead he brought your finger to his lips, sucking on the blood.
It made you furrow your brows, feeling his tongue brush over your finger. Elijah’s eyes darkened as he kept licking your bleeding finger. The blood wasn’t enough but it satisfied him. You reached out with your other hand to his cheek, touching the area just beneath his eyes. Fascinated by the dark veins. Your touch made Elijah pull away, suddenly aware of what he was doing.
He got up, rubbing his lips and strode off. – “Elijah?” – you said confused to why your husband was suddenly gone. Getting up, you went after him. You knew exactly where to find him. In the library. His hands firmly on the desk, his back turned towards the door. You knocked gently, entering.
“Elijah…” – you started not sure if he wanted you present. – “Go…go away Y/n.” – Elijah responded breathless. You ignored his warning, drawing nearer. Touching his shoulders, Elijah eased in. He slowly turned towards you, seeing those gentle eyes of yours. He couldn’t resist those eyes. He’d do anything for them.
You reached for his cheek again, seeing that the veins had disappeared. Elijah took your hand before it could touch him. – “Y/n please…” – he begged, not wanting you to saddle with his torment. – “Enlighten me.” – you asked. Elijah sighed not able to resist saying no to you.
He cupped your cheeks, explaining everything. Explaining to you that he was a vampire. Requiring blood. Once you understood, you offered him your wrist. Elijah stared confused at you. – “You need it to survive do you not?” – you asked as he nodded. – “I am offering it to you.”
Elijah gently took your wrist. You smiled with a soft nod, letting him know it was alright. You gazed wonderous at him when his fangs appeared. You quietly yelped when they bit through your flesh. The weird sensation it left on you, was unfamiliar and fascinating at once. Elijah grabbed you tighter to get his grip firmer on you. Seeing him feast on you was something that strangely didn’t bother you. Elijah let go, gasping loud. Blood dripping down your wrist as you stared at the wound on your wrist.
Elijah pulled out a handkerchief wrapping it around your wrist to stop the bleeding. – “Can… can you make me like you?” – you asked, catching Elijah by surprise. – “Why would you?” – he replied confused. – “Can we not be together forever than?” – you questioned. Elijah nodded. – “Don’t… don’t you love me enough for that? Am I just an insignificant small memory in your long life?” – you started to doubt yourself. Knowing he would love a dozen more girls after you.
Elijah held his other hand on the handkerchief around your wrist. – “You are not insignificant. Not even close.” – he answered with caring eyes. He kissed your knuckles, never taking his gaze off you. – “Then love me forever.” – you told him. Elijah let his knuckles brush against your cheek. He removed the handkerchief from your wrist, now stained with blood. Your wrist was still bleeding as Elijah took a bite in his own wrist.
He offered you his wrist. – “It will help it heal.” – he told you. You took his wrist, moving it to your mouth. It was strange tasting his blood in your mouth. You kept sucking it, drinking his blood till he pulled away. Looking down at your wrist, you saw the wound disappear. In wonder you stared at your healed wrist, letting your fingers brush over it. That night you prepared yourself for bed. Your words echoing in Elijah’s head. Then love me forever. He couldn’t shake them off. His love for you beyond describing. – “Elijah are you coming to bed?” – you called out from the other room.
Elijah closed his eyes before joining you in the bedroom. You paused, getting in bed. Sheet lifted up as one leg was already in. – “Is everything alright darling?” – you asked as he seemed a bit off. Distant. An impulsive thought crossed Elijah’s mind and he couldn’t shake it off. He rushed over to you, standing before you in a second. His hands around your neck as he turned it, snapping your neck in a split second.
Your body fell weightless as he caught your falling body before hitting the matrass. Looking down at your body, he came to a sense of what he had just done. Your colour fading. He carefully laid you down, hoping you would wake up again. Knowing he had to live with the consequences of his impulsive thoughts.
You awoke many hours later, feeling an emptiness in your stomach. Elijah knew what it was. The first hunger. He offered you his blood, before you could fully process what was happening. Knowing he had finalized the process of turning. The following weeks, Elijah had turned silent. Crawling back in his shell as he watched you. Watched you juggle your normal life with your new life. This wasn’t what he imagined. Not even close. One day after a decade, he vanished.
*
A car pulled over. You got out, slamming the door shut behind you. You had been touring the world for the past decades now and found yourself in a godforsaken town in need of gas. Mystic falls. Car broken down before you could reach a gas station, you had to walk. Taking out a flask from your trunk, you started the long walk in search for gas. For miles there was nothing but woods. Finally you reached a bit of town as it made you roll your eyes.
Great one of those towns that got stuck in the 1800’s. – “Now for gas, let’s hope you have it.” – you sighed out, doubting if a time stuck town like this even had a gas station. You neared a bar, deciding to head in and ask before you searched every corner of this town. The mystic grill. All heads turned when you entered. You ignored them, knowing they probably weren’t used to outsiders.
Heading straight for the bar. – “What can I get you?” – the boy behind the bar asked, cleaning his hands on a towel. You set the flask on the counter. – “I need gas, do you have a station around?” – you answered. – “Car broke down?” – he responded. It made you roll your eyes. – “Yes, now do you have gas?”
A girl came nearer as you noticed her. – “Not for a long drive. Where is your car at?” – she asked. You sighed soft. – “By the sign.” – you told her. She mouthed a wow. – “That was a long walk.” – she said making you hum in response. – “Well I can always give you a ride?” – she suggested. – “Elena.” – the bartender said with warning eyes. Elena ignored him. – “We’ll fill up there and I’ll bring you back to your car. How does that sound?” – she asked.
“Well that sounds awfully nice Elena.” – you responded. Elena got up taking her purse. – “I’m Y/n by the way.” – you told her. Elena led you to her car. You got in at the passengers seat. On the way to the gas station, Elena and you got talking. Sharing some interest as it felt nice to talk to someone. You had always been alone on your rides. It can be lonely from time to time with no one to talk to in the car.
Elena rode up to the gas station. You got out as you got your gas. Returning to her car, she drove to where your car was parked. You were filling up your car as Elena leaned against your car. – “Are you staying long or passing through?” – she asked. – “Passing through.” – you answered finishing.
“You know… it’s getting late… you should probably eat.” – Elena spoke making you quirk your eyebrow up. – “Is that an invitation to stay?” – you answered intrigued. – “Maybe.” – Elena responded shy. You laughed coming up to her. – “Are you cooking?” – you asked. – “Only for you.” – she chuckled in return. You got in your car, riding behind Elena to her house. A night, turned into a day, into three days, into almost a week now. A week now you got stuck at Mystic falls. Not leaving just yet. Elena and you had become great friends.
“I know this great place.” – Elena said pulling at your arm to get you to follow her. – “Let me guess another founding father thing?” – you teased her with. Elena shook her head. – “Something more modern.” – she laughed out. – “Now you are talking.” – you responded moving along with her. Elena had her arm locked around yours as you walked over the town square.
You saw a small café pulling Elena to a stop. – “Quick bathroom stop.” – you told her, running inside. Elena waited outside. – “Elena Gilbert.” – she suddenly heard. Elena’s eyes widened briefly till she narrowed them bothered. – “Elijah.” – she responded annoyed.
Elijah chuckled moving one hand in his pocket. – “Where’s your lousy brother?” – she asked looking around.  Elijah smiled. – “My brother isn’t here so no need for you to be so tense.” – Elijah responded, sensing how tense her muscles were. – “Then what do you want.” – she called out. – “Can’t a man just say hello?” – he answered innocently. – “It’s never that innocent with you originals.” – Elena fired back.
“Elena I’m ready.” – you said getting out of the café. Coming to a sudden stop at the sight of Elijah. Elijah’s eyes widened, removing his hand from his pocket. Elena looked confused between the two of you. – “Y/n…” – Elijah breathed out. The shock in your eyes turned to anger. You rushed over to Elijah, grabbing him firm by his throat. – “Where have you been love?” – you told him bitsy. Elijah choked under your grip. – “Tell me how many years have it been? Decades? A hundred years?” – you called out.
Puffing annoyed afterwards. – “Y/n.” – Elijah grunted trying to catch his breath. You squeezed harder. – “Didn’t think you would see me again when you left me for dead!” – you spitted out pushing him off. Elijah stumbled to the ground, rolling over. He coughed loud, touching his neck.
“You know him?” – Elena asked. – “You mean my dear husband who vanished!” – you replied angered, wanting to have another go at him. Elijah held his hand out, slowly getting up. – “Y/n… please…” – Elijah started. You puffed mockingly, crossing your arms. – “Where the hell were you!” – you shouted. – “I waited days, weeks, years for you to come back. Wondering why you left me. Wondering what I had done wrong to be left alone like this. Tell me husband what did I say for you to pull the earth from around me and make me fall into a dark pit!” – All those years of anger, bubbling back up.
Elijah rushed over to you, grabbing you firm by your shoulders. – “I… I…” – he started not coming out of his words. – “What!” – you snapped at him. – “I felt guilty!” – he yelled. – “I… I shouldn’t have turned you. I wanted you to live a normal life. I took that from you. I couldn’t bear the guilt. Constantly reminded of it when I saw you. It was eating me alive.” – he confessed.
He exhaled deep lowering his head a bit. – “I never stopped loving you Y/n. I just couldn’t stop blaming myself for what I did. I regretted leaving you for all those years. I came back to our house, but you weren’t there. It only made the guilt worse that I couldn’t find you anymore.”
You blinked softly, staring back at him with those gentle eyes he had missed for so long. It made Elijah exhale adoringly that he could see them again. You grabbed Elijah, pressing your lips onto him. Your anger vanished in a matter of seconds. Elena swallowed nervously, looking away at the heated kiss between Elijah and you. Lips desperately on one another.
Needing to fill that longing. Elena eventually cleared her throat as she thought you were going to eat each other with the way you were kissing each other. Elijah and you pulled away, panting. – “Plan on leaving me again in a decade?” – you asked teasingly. Elijah shook his head. – “You are stuck with me for always and forever.” – he responded.

Hiii 🫶🏼 I hope you're still up for doing an Elijah request! 🤗 I can't get this man out of my head haha
Soo it would be an idea where they met somewhere in Mystic Falls and immediately felt some bond between them, so it happens that they start falling in love (she's human but knows about vampires) but she's too afraid to get hurt so she also tries not to get too close to Elijah. One night he sees some stranger following her home from the Grill and even starts attacking her, Elijah is immediately there saving her and taking her home with him to treat her wounds (mostly some scratches) and he's just super worried. There she realizes that Elijah would never be the one hurting her and they finally share their feelings with a lot of kissing and cuddles afterwards and he holds her, telling how much she means to him.
Oh I hope this is not too weird at all 🙈❤️
Description: Upon meeting Elijah Mikaelson, the feelings start to come but in fear of being hurt, the reader decides to keep her walls up to protect herself. This changes after Elijah protects her after being attacked.
Warnings: fluff, small angst, physical assault (mild), she/her pronouns, maybe swearing?
*Requests are open, please send through as many requests as you want, check my character list and requesting rules.*
Thanks so much for making this request! I can never get sick of Elijah, this man is always on my mind and please feel free to request again if you wish :) I really enjoyed writing this, thank you again :D

First Person's POV
Tonight at the Grill was a ‘live acoustics’ night, some of the performers were good and others were quite frankly not that great. Bonnie, Elena and Caroline were off on the next big adventure for the vampiric save-the-day business and while I knew about all the vampires, witches, werewolves and all that extra fun stuff. Besides Matt, I was the only human in the group and somehow I was pushed aside to be kept ‘safe; despite Matt always being dragged into the whirlpool of drama even if he didn’t want to be.
“The music is wonderful for the atmosphere tonight, don’t you agree?” That voice would haunt my dreams, haunt my every thought, I couldn’t fathom how gentle and warm a voice could sound. I glanced to the side, shooting a polite smile to the impeccably dressed man and nodded in agreement.
“I do agree, I feel like I’m in like a cute little romance story, the warm lighting and the music-“ I cut myself short, realising I was babbling to a random stranger who more than likely did not care for my ideas and thoughts.
“I can see how you would see that.” Oh, gosh- those eyes! That smile! This man would haunt me forever, picture perfect and everything I would want in a man. I continued to share a polite smile with the man, fiddling with the straw in my chocolate milkshake and turned myself slightly to face the man a little better.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you…?” Realising that he was waiting for my name, I placed my drink down and took his hand.
“Y/N L/N” He softly cupped my hand, shaking it and proceeded to share his name.
“Elijah Mikaelson.” I wish I could’ve hidden my reaction better, my eyes went wide, and my smile flattened for a moment before I quickly made sure to continue to be nice and polite. Elijah carefully rested my head on the bar, took a small sip of whatever his drink was and gazed at me with a quizzical look.
“You know who I am…” His tone was neither harsh nor hurt, Elijah seemed to have suspected my knowledge of his name and he even seemed curious by the idea of my knowledge.
“I know of your brother Niklaus… Elena told me about you, I think she might have exaggerated a bit. You don’t seem like the antagonist she kinda painted you out to be. From what I’ve heard, you’re the nicer brother… the noble one and I'm sure first glances can be deceiving but… I don’t know- you don’t seem like a bad man.”  He briefly licked his lips, eyes shooting up to the ceiling and seemed to be contemplating his next moves.
“I suppose you know-“
“That you’re a…” I leaned closer to whisper so people passing by wouldn’t hear.
“An Original.”
“You don’t seem to be phased.”
“Team doppelgänger has built up my immunity to supernatural beings.” I let out a weak chuckle, cringing internally and turned my focus back on my drink. I wanted to keep speaking with him, I really did want to keep speaking with him but I knew the world that I happened to live in and I didn’t fancy the idea of being bait or hurt as collateral damage.
“It was really nice to meet you Elijah but I have to go.” He nodded, that handsome smile appearing once more, his actions made me gush and brought butterflies into my belly as he grabbed my jacket and assisted in placing it back on.
“I hope that you have a good evening, Y/N”
“Same to you Elijah.” He seemed to have a thought pop into his head, I stopped in my tracks, allowing for him to have the benefit of the doubt and give him the chance to speak his mind.
“May I have the pleasure of seeing you again?”
“Maybe… There’s always tomorrow.” I knew I had given myself away, I could feel my heart skip a beat, I’m sure he could hear it, his facial expression didn’t change but I could feel that he knew what I was feeling.
“Have a good evening,” I whispered, brushing past him to carry on my way.
+++++++
I had seen Elijah a couple of times since our first meeting, we had small conversations and I tried my best to conceal my heart, I didn't want to get close to this man despite enjoying his presence, his voice and the true appearance of his gentlemanly ways made me fall into a daydream greater than any story or dream I could ever have or read.
The next time I saw Elijah was three months after our first meeting, as I said we had multiple different meetings and they were all the greatest moments of my life despite how much I tried to protect my fragile heart. I had left my home for the park, I wanted to read outside of my home and get some fresh air away from the stuffiness of my bedroom. I rested the picnic blanket underneath a large tree, I read three chapters of my book before I felt a presence looming nearby, I placed the book to the side and stood up, surveying the area for a figure and jumped in my skin seeing Elijah approaching me.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you, may I join you?" I nodded, smiling at the man, watching as he unbuttoned his shirt and sat down with me on the picnic blanket. He gently picked my book up, staring at the cover with intrigue, I observed him with butterflies growing in my stomach, a blush wanting to form on my cheeks as I continued to drown in what was possibly a huge crush for the Original Vampire.
"Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi... I'm not sure I've heard of this one before."
"I doubt you would've, I don't exactly picture you reading a book like this?" He smiled, tilting his head slightly, a deep chuckle leaving his mouth and he handed me back the book.
"Why is that?"
"Well... I don't know, I picture you reading older books nothing from the late 20th century to the early 21st century." Elijah briefly nodded in agreement, I smiled proudly at my guess and fiddled with the tassels hanging off of my bookmark. The vampire took off his suit jacket and began rolling up the sleeves of his button-up, I bit the inside of my cheek, begging myself to remain calm and avoid giving away any kind of emotions being revealed.
"Enlighten me, will you though, please? What's it about?" I cleared my throat, leaning closer to him with joy forming, giddy that he was showing interest in something that I liked and enjoyed.
"It's the third book in the series, I've read it before, and this one is one of my favourites. Essentially the series is all about control some people have these powers and the leaders are trying to control these people. The relationship of the main characters is what I happen to enjoy the most about it, I love how Tahereh created their bond from..."
"Why did you stop?" Elijah gently questioned, his face furrowing in concern, I wanted to cringe but I forced the words out before I could let that show. Taking a deep breath, I turned my gaze back to him, scrunching my face up briefly and proceeded to explain to Elijah what was going through my head.
"Whenever I ramble on to the Salvatores and all that, it's clear that they don't care and I'm not wanting to force that onto you. I'm sorry." Elijah tutted, shaking his head and holding out his hand for me to take. Hesitating for a moment, I finally rested my hand in his, holding my breath for a moment and kept my eyes focused on him as he rested his other hand on top of mine.
"You do that too often, Y/N, I can see you trying to protect your heart and you have a wide range of information waiting to come out and you shut yourself down because you expect everyone else to do that. I hope you find someone... someone who makes you realise you don't need to do that."
"Could possibly end up being you, Elijah," I whispered.
+++++
When someone unknown came into Mystic Falls, it was always a concerning event, the vampires were always the most suspicious of strangers and most of the time they were typically right for not trusting the stranger. It was late when I left the grill tonight, Elijah was growing on my mind more and more, and I would be hit with a wave of memories at random moments.
"Up ahead, there's an alley to your right, walk down it. Try anything-"
"Okay... I understand." I whispered, complying as I walked a little quicker and turned down the alleyway. I cried out as I was instantly shoved against the wall, my head ached and the world spun around me, I bit back a sob as I hit the ground and hissed as the gravel bit into my skin. I kicked off my heels, not fancying a broken ankle and lept to my feet running towards the street but missed as the man tackled me to the ground and which resulted in blood slightly trickling down my forehead and more cuts forming against my skin.
It felt like something out of a vampire movie, I heard a whoosh and then a light thud. Elijah appeared, holding the man against the wall effortlessly with one hand and easily compelled the man to walk off and not commit any sort of crime again. I let out a few sobs as the pain sunk in and the adrenaline started to fade away.
Elijah swooped me into his arms, effortlessly taking me to his mansion and rested me down on his obnoxiously large bed. He crouched down, gently cupping my face in his hands, observing my facial features and swiftly disappeared somewhere before running back.
"Are you okay?" He questioned, focusing on grabbing the things from the first-aid kit to treat my wounds.
"I'm okay..." I whispered, hissing as he wiped an alcohol wipe across the graze on my palm and watched as he apologised profusely for inflicting any added pain onto me. Elijah was so attentive to my needs, he cleaned the blood and dirt away from my cuts and grazes. Covering them with bandaids, doing what he could to assist in caring for me. It was as he was lingering for a moment, observing my form that I realised that Elijah Mikaelson would never hurt me. He would never cause any harm to me, Elijah Mikaelson would protect me and I knew that I wouldn't need to worry any longer.
"You wouldn't hurt me..." I whispered, staring at the vampire as he grasped my face and held eye contact with me.
"Y/N L/N I would never dream of hurting you, you... you're perfect... Y/N you are the epitome of perfect, I haven't met someone as intelligent, kind, sweet, and funny in a long time. Y/N I love you and I hope that you'll allow-" I pushed myself closer to him, carefully cupping his face to kiss the man who had possessed my dreams too often.
"Elijah, please, never let me go, I can't keep guarding myself-"
"Shhh, I've got you." He kissed my forehead, pulling me into his arms and pushing himself to lay against the headboard of his bed. I inhaled, holding onto the warm and mesmerising smell of his cologne, I curled into his chest and hummed gently as he rested another kiss on my forehead.
I felt protected, Elijah was my guardian angel, and he made me feel warm and gooey. Made me giddy and the butterflies a constant swarm in my belly, I fiddled with his hands, staring at the family ring that rested on his finger and glanced to him as he pulled my face to meet his. I hummed as he rested a kiss against my lips, sucking in another deep breath and curling in closer as he strokes my hair, his touch comforting and loving.
"Can I stay here? Just in your arms? Where I'm safe and with you, you Elijah who looks after me and takes the time to listen and know me?" Elijah's smile made the butterflies come to life, my cheeks flushed red and his simple words reassured me for an infinity of time.
"Always and forever."

Secrets of the Past
Dean Winchester x Reader, Elijah Mikaelson x Reader
Summary: You had left Mystic Falls and Elijah a long time ago, settling into your new Hunter lifestyle with Sam and Dean; keeping your past to yourself. When you find yourself in danger, would Elijah still care to help?
Word Count: 2.3k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Wake up sleepy head, you’re worse than Dean” Sam said, tapping your shoulders as you groaned against the pillow.
“Go away” you mumbled before rolling over, facing away from him. It didn’t take long at all for the boys to see how much you weren’t a morning person.
The door to the motel room swung open as Dean walked in, holding a tray of coffees for the three of you. He looked over at Sam as he noticed you still in bed, rolling his eyes.
Dean brought one of the coffees up to his lips, taking a sip before letting out a loud and satisfied sigh. You rolled out quickly, perking up at the sound of him. He let out a chuckle as you sprung from the bed, rushing over to grab a coffee.
“Works every time” he said, looking over at Sam with a grin. Sam shook his head slightly before grabbing a drink for himself and sitting down at the table.
He had a newspaper laid out in front of him, scanning the pages as he looked for a new job. You’d already finished one a few days ago. You’d realised quickly these boys liked to stay on the move, giving you no time for a vacation.
You sat back down on the edge of the bed, enjoying your drink in silence as you attempted to wake up.
“I think I found something” Sam announced, calling Dean over to look at the paper.
“Hmm” Dean mumbled, leaning over Sam as he read it over. “Vamps. Definitely” he nodded as they looked at each other in agreement.
“Looks like we’re headin’ to Mississippi” he announced, looking over at you with the usual charming smile.
“Yay” you said flatly, still struggling to wake up. “Lucky us”
Sam and Dean began packing their things and loading the car as you got yourself ready; finishing off your drink.
Once everything was ready, you made your way to the car and climbed in the back.
The usual rock and roll music filled the car as you drove off, heading to the next destination. Your eyes gazed out the window, watching the trees as you drove down a long road. The gloomy weather felt comforting; you had never been much of a hot weather person. Watching the rain drops roll down the window brought you a sense of calm. You didn’t notice Dean glancing in the rear view mirror, looking over at you on the odd occasion.
After hours of driving in silence, you all pulled into a diner. Dean could only go so long without grabbing a bite which you greatly appreciated, noticing the growl in your stomach.
You were quick to get out of the car after you parked, walking almost as fast as Dean as he entered.
“I’ll get us some burgers” he said before you and Sam spotted a table to sit down at.
He pulled out the chair for you before you sat down; he always was a gentlemen. You gave him a small smile as you sat next to him.
“You doin’ okay?” Sam asked, feeling worried by how tired you had been lately.
“Yea.. yea I’m fine” you replied softly, giving him a small smile. “I’m rejuvenating” you added with a grin.
He smiled back at you in return. From the day he met you, he had always kept an eye out of you; feeling moderately protective to say the least. The both of them were.
Dean walked over with the burgers in hand, placing them down in front of you. He knew what you ordered for any restaurant now, knowing you like the back of his hand at this point.
He ate much faster than you and Sam, scoffing down the meal as though each one was his last. You smiled to yourself as you watched him, feeling quite relaxed in his presence.
“What are you looking at?” He mumbled, still chewing his food. You let out a slight chuckle at put your hands up in defence “nothing, nothing. Please, carry on” you replied with a smirk.
The three of you enjoyed your food, taking in a moment to relax before heading back out on the road. You always enjoyed the little moments you had with them, the time to breathe before you were back on the road again.
The sun was setting by the time you reached the border. You were already feeling sleepy as the area around you became dark.
Sam lead Dean to a hotel nearest to the hunt, allowing time to gather everything needed before looking into it further.
When you arrived at the motel, Sam organised the rooms. He couldn’t always get the three of you together, leaving you separated. They took turns on which one stayed with you, not willing to leave you on your own despite your protests. You’d lost count of how many times you told them you didn’t need a bodyguard.
This time it was Deans turn to stay with you whilst Sam slept in the room next door.
You carried in your things for the night before sitting on the bed furthest from the door.
“You’re coming with me tomorrow” Dean said. “We’re going to the morgue to check the victim while Sammy follows up with the detectives” he added before handing you a loaded gun.
“Don’t lose this” he said, raising his eyebrows at you.
“You say that every time.. when have I lost one of your *many* weapons?” You asked rhetorically, rolling your eyes at him.
“Can’t be too careful” he responded with a shrug, giving you a pat on the shoulder before he moved over and sat on the bed.
You quickly grabbed the remote, stopping him from getting his hands on it. “Hey!” He said, holding out his hand.
“Not a chance… I can’t watch anymore Dr Sexy M.D. with you” you replied, lying back against the pillow as you flicked through the channels.
“That was one time” he mumbled, giving up and letting you keep it.
“Oh please, I’ve caught you watching that crap on at least three occasions” you grinned before settling on some late night show.
He let out a huff as the two of you watched the tv, sitting quietly. You pulled out your phone, scrolling through your contacts until you saw Elijah’s name.
You let out a slow breath. Every time you hunted vampires you thought of him, not wanting to admit to yourself that you missed him. You hated how you left Mystic Falls without even saying goodbye, wanting to escape all the chaos that was going on back there.
The connection you felt to Elijah was instant; you understood each other. Although you were one of the people Elena ensured would be protected, you knew Elijah was doing so on his own accord.
You shook your head, trying to push away your memories and focus on the TV. As you drifted off to sleep hours later… he was still on your mind.
-
“Go on, it’s your turn” Dean smirked as the two of you stared down at the body laying on the steel table.
You gulped as you reached over, pulling up the shirt of the victim. There were marks all over the victim; their skin turning purple from the bruises. They clearly put up quite the fight. As you looked up towards the chest, clear bite marks could be seen by the collarbone.
“Bingo.” Dean said from over your shoulder.
“Only one victim so far?” You questioned.
“That we know of” he answered before you both got ready to leave.
“Maybe it’s not a nest then..” you said quietly, pondering.
“These guys don’t travel alone” he responded, clearly experienced when it comes to vampires.
You made your way to the car, deciding you would go meet up with Sam to see what he had found.
-
The three of you were back at the motel, debating on your next move. Sam had a bunch on where the vamps nest might be. All the was left was to decide on your approach.
They were quite thorough when it came to their plans; plotting out every possible way something could go wrong. They knew you could handle yourself which made it a lot easier. The bigger the group of hunters, the easier this was going to be.
You never truly classified yourself as a hunter. You couldn’t. Not after knowing “monsters” in your past. You always kept this to yourself. There was no need to open a can of worms; they didn’t need to know.
After a long debate on how you were going to go into the nest, Sam and Dean were finally ready.
You packed your things before going out to the car. The nest should only be a short drive if Sam was right. Every time you went into one of these, you felt a rise of nerves in your chest. Not feeling scared for your safety, but scared you might see him again. Elijah.
You sucked in a breath as you got into the car, your hand gripping the blade Dean had given you.
You tried your best to clear your mind as you drove, glancing out of the window and hoping this would be a quick one.
-
Raindrops landed on your skin as you approached the abandoned building. Graffiti covered the concrete walls. No person had been living here in a long time, that you were sure of.
Sam and Dean walked in first, keeping quiet as they looked around. You decided it was best to split up, Sam going one way whilst you and Dean went another.
You stayed close to Dean as you moved through the hall, continuing to look around in preparation for an attack.
Despite your best efforts to stay on guard, you would never be quick enough. You barely noticed the figure coming at you until Dean got knocked over against the wall; slamming into it hard enough that the blade dropped from his hand.
You felt yourself duck as the figure continued to move, only being seen as a blur in your vision. You swung your blade quickly, jamming it into the vampire.
The woman flared her fangs at you before pulling the blade from her arm and tossing it to the ground. She gripped your wrist, digging her nails into your skin until blood was drawn.
Dean came up quickly behind her, swinging the blade up high and slicing it through her neck. Her expression dropped as she fell to the crowd, her skin becoming pale.
“Thanks..” you huffed as you looked over at Dean. He gave you a smirk before gesturing you to follow him. He knew she wasn’t the only one.
You trailed behind him as he walked, your eyes scanning over him; taking in his broad shoulders. The gap between allowed for enough space for you to see a vampire approaching from the side.
Without giving Dean a chance to respond, you lept forward, swinging your blade at them; slicing through its neck. The vampire dropped to the ground quickly, not having a chance to cause any harm to either of you.
Dean turned around, looking down at the vamp and then back at you. He gave you a nod of approval before carrying on, causing you to grin to yourself.
You were too busy taking in your own win that you didn’t hear the noise approaching you from behind. Arms wrapped tightly around you as teeth sank into your neck.
You let out a scream, grabbing Deans attention before he ran over.
The vampire was too quick, pulling you away and out of his sight. Dean could only follow the screams for so long until you went quiet, lost in the darkness of the building. The vampire had taken you.
-
“Son of a bitch!” Dean yelled, standing across from Sam outside the building.
“Which way did they go?” Sam asked urgently as his breath quickened.
“I don’t know! It’s so damn dark in there I couldn’t see a thing” he answered, bringing his hand up to his forehead.
Sam let out a deep breath, trying to think clearly. He glanced around him, taking in his surroundings.
“I found Y/N’s phone” Dean said, pulling it from his jacket pocket. “No point tracking the damn thing now” he finished, clenching his jaw.
Dean stormed over to the car as Sam followed, slamming the door after the sat down. Dean kept his eyes forward, keeping his eye on the road as he took off; not being able to think clearly.
Sam opened up your phone, scrolling through it; not entirely sure what he was looking for.
“Hey.. check this out” He said, showing Dean the phone.
Dean leaned over, reading on of the contacts and the details below it. “Contact in case of emergency..?” Dean read out loud, raising his eyebrow.
Sam pursed his lips before clicking on it, calling the number. He placed it on speak for the both to hear.
After only a few rings, a voice picked up. “Y/N..?” Elijah answered softly.
“Uh no, this is Sam. Your name was down as an emergency contact” Sam said hesitantly.
“What happened?” Elijah asked, a growing concern showing in his tone.
“Are you a hunter?” Dean asked, clearly not trusting him.
Elijah hesitated on the phone, allowing silence to hang in the air. “Yes, of course” he replied, deciding to follow along with the conversation.
Sam decided to tell Elijah where they were heading and the road they were on, choosing not to divulge what had happened to you as of yet.
Within minutes, a figure appeared in the road; causing Dean to slam on the breaks. “What the-…” he muttered, staring at the man dressed in a suit; standing in front of the vehicle.
The boys got out slowly, Dean gripping his gun as he held it behind him.
“Where is she?” Elijah questioned, staring the two men down. He strolled forward towards Dean, looking over his face. “I won’t ask twice.”

One Question Answered
Tumblr media
Elijah Mikaelson x Reader
You've been avoiding Elijah since he healed you so he tracks you down but not for the reason you assume
The one side effect of Elijah healing you was that you had no excuse to stay away from the Mikaelson compound. You didn't want to drag any of them into your fight, yeah logically it made little sense to not step back and let them handle it but this was your fight. You had brought this chaos down onto the hunting community because the one thing you'd yet to even tell Rebekah was the mastermind behind trying to form a squadron of people for hire out of hunters was your ex.
You were in Marcel’s gym, something he'd worked out with Bek. It was a little crazy considering you'd been attacked by humans to be working out surrounded by vampires with earbuds in but here you were. Music blasted as you landed punch after punch on one of the heavy bags. You had people tracking Evan. He'd be found and if you cut the head off the snake that should work.
You had to show patience but the longer he was out there poisoning people against decent hunters the better a chance someone got hurt and that person may not have an original vampire ready to feed them blood to speed up the process.
You'd avoided direct conversation with both Elijah and Klaus. Klaus was simple enough to avoid, offer of a decent bourbon warmed the hybrid out of conversation. Kol would let it go when you said you would ask for help if you couldn't handle it.
Rebekah was pissed you'd lied to her initially about why you needed your Nova put into storage for a while and even more pissed you wouldn't give names to who had attacked you. Elijah, well he was even worse. You weren't sure what had changed between the two of you but the last couple weeks had been tense to say the least.
When you couldn't manage to avoid him he would of course question if you were ready to tell him who'd hurt you. More than once he'd cursed your tattoo and it's warding for taking away his ability to compel you into telling him.
When you'd accused him of not respecting boundaries he'd rebutted that it wasn't crossing boundaries to make an attempt to keep you safe. That had been days ago. You'd steered clear of the compound choosing to see Rebekah somewhere else or not at all.
—--------------
The only reason you were at Marcel's gym was because it was the only place nearby you could walk into to work off stress with no questions being asked as to why you were there.
You weren't sure where your head was but when someone pulled your earbud out of your left ear you spun around mid punch. Elijah seemed slightly amused as he easily grabbed your fist before it could make contact with his jaw “Decent hit considering” you narrowed your eyes at him and it was only then you'd noticed the gym was empty.
“What are you doing here Elijah? Rebekah said you were out of town” he shrugged almost innocently “I assumed the best way to get your guard down was to make you think I wasn't in town. You've been avoiding me it seems” you moved your hand which was still in his “Can I have this back?” He smirked slightly “Are you going to try to run to not talk to me because we both know I can catch you”
You shrugged “Why would I run when I know for a fact it would be useless” he finally let go of your hand and gave your earbud back. You took it and turned to your bag that was sitting on the floor nearby. “Well I'm not running and you wanted to talk” you spoke over your shoulder as you squatted down to put your earbuds in their case. You stood up and faced him before starting to unwrap your hands. You suddenly felt out of place standing there in an oversized shirt and Nike leggings while he was of course dressed impeccably.
His eyes roamed across your body and you felt heat rise to your face, your heart pounding in your ears. He had a habit of making you forget when you were supposed to be putting room between the two of you “I'm not here to pursue the conversation of who attacked you. I trust that should you get in over your head you'll ask for assistance”
—-----------
Elijah relished the moments he managed to render you speechless. From the moment he'd met you the ability to seemingly always have a retort waiting was something he admired about you. Even when you were uncomfortable in a situation or nervous you hid it well.
Now, watching you standing in front of him fidgeting with the hem of your shirt, he had the urge to say anything he could to make your heart race again. The sound was music to his ears. “Then what are you here for Elijah?”
He smiled slightly “While I'm not here to discuss that matter I am here for a different one” your eyes narrowed at his words, distrust clear on your face but another emotion showed there also. You were trying to hide your attraction to him but he could see it. The way your eyes tracked him, how your heartbeat increased if he touched you even innocently. It intrigued him to no end. Many years had passed since a woman demanded his attention in this way.
“Considering you wouldn't answer my calls I thought I'd try my luck face to face. Would you accompany me to dinner?”
—--------------
Did Elijah just ask you out? No, there was no way. He must have meant dinner with his siblings or another ball he wanted a plus one for. “What do you mean?” You asked rather lamely, wishing you were wearing anything besides your workout clothes with your hair up in a lazy braid.
He gave you that smile that made your stomach flip. Damn he was gorgeous. “My darling little hunter, will you go on a date with me? Was that plain enough to make my intentions clear?”
Could a brain really short circuit? Had it not been that you knew for certain that the blood Elijah had given you had indeed cured you of any of your injuries you would've been certain the taser had caused brain damage. Who knew maybe it had? “Intentions clear” you finally spoke after a moment, feeling your head spin a bit.
“Is that a yes or a no?” He asked, causing a nervous laugh to slip out from you. What was your life at this point? You nodded slowly “That's a yes Elijah. I'd love to but can I ask one thing because of something Kol and Rebekah both said”
“Which is?” He asked a bit cautiously at the mention of his younger siblings. You knew you should probably let it go but this question had been weighing on you along with the Evan situation. “They said blood sharing was a thing, like vamps didn't do it lightly and that you normally would only open a vein to save one of them. So why heal me? Why willingly give me a part of you when my injuries weren't life threatening?”
He crossed the space between the two of you, raising a hand to cup your face much the same way he had when he'd healed you and it took everything in you to not turn into his touch. His dark eyes bore into you and yet again you found your heart racing “Because seeing you injured and in pain infuriated me. Someone hurt you and had you not already lived a life filled with resiliency those injuries may very well have been life threatening. If spilling some of my blood spares you pain I'll gladly do it however many times it's necessary”
You swallowed hard before saying “Still doesn't answer why. I'm nothing special. I could be replaced a thousand times over” he shook his head, his fingers lightly lifting your chin where you had no choice but to look him square in the eye. His eyes flicked down to your lips as he spoke “I have met many people who may have been expandable, you however are not. That's why I healed you, there was no other option”
Was it lust, attraction or pure stupidity that made you close the space between you and him? The moment your lips brushed against his you could feel the tension that had long since hung in the air between the two of you threaten to burst.
One of his hands went to the back of your head holding you in place while his other went to your hip, fingertips almost bruising with how close he pulled you to him. Your hands went to his shoulders, trying to find something to ground yourself as heat washed straight through you. A light moan fell from your lips into his as he angled his head to deepen the kiss, tongue dancing across yours.
Your fingers found the back of his head, desperately tugging at the carefully styled locks. He groaned into your mouth and you felt a fresh wave of desire hit you. His hands went down to your thighs easily lifting you into his arms. You gladly wrapped your legs around his waist, never breaking free from his lips even if your lungs were beginning to burn with the need for air.
He moved across the room, bracing your back against one of the mats that lined the wall as he broke free from your lips. Your chest was heaving as he continued his assault down your jaw to your neck. You felt your heart jump when he gently nipped at the sensitive flesh of your neck, causing your back to arch off the wall pushing you into him which caused his body to react,he shifted his hips against yours. The feeling alone was enough to pull a deep moan from you. Your hands went under his jacket, fingers digging into his shoulders through the soft material of his shirt.
The sound of two throats clearing causing you and Elijah to break away from each other. You glanced over his shoulder to see Rebekah and Marcel standing in the entryway of the gym. “I had no clue you two were talking again” Rebekah greeted cheerfully as if she hadn't just walked in on you and one of her brothers.
You groaned lightly as Elijah buried his face in the skin at the bend of your neck. Seeing him so damn disheveled and knowing you were the cause was enough to make any woman have a strange surge of pride. You grinned at Rebekah over his shoulder before he leaned up to place a chaste kiss to your lips before lowering you to the ground.
Both of you quickly rearranged whatever clothing was out of place before turning to face the newcomers. Rebekah was barely containing her laughter. “I'll see you at nine?” You asked and he smirked slightly “I'll see you at nine”
You watched him walk out and looked at Rebekah “Not a word” Marcel chuckled as he walked further into the gym “Never thought I'd see Elijah so worked up over a human and he picks a hunter”
Rebekah shook her head at Marcel then looked back at you “So I'm assuming that display means you're now dating my brother?” You shrugged, still a little dazed “I have a date with him” she smiled brightly “Brilliant. Let's go shopping for you a new outfit then”

POPTARTS | E.M.
word count: 1k
warnings: just that idk how I feel about this, oh and also like some casual conversations about blood and vampires and murder and whatnot, eating
summary: elijah stocking up the cabinets with all of your favourite snacks
"I'm starving," you groaned, as you and Elijah walked into the kitchen, his arm still snaked around your waist, blazer around your shoulders, lips against your temple as he kissed you briskly.
"Leave it to Niklaus to ruin our dinner plans," he noted and you smiled, pouting slightly as he let you go, moving to get the wine glasses from the cabinet, slow in choosing a bottle, trying to decide what best fit the mood.
"He always does this, you know..." you kicked your shoes off, though you felt you'd spent too much time picking them out to be abandoning them so quickly. "Truly, couldn't you ask your brother to keep his death threats until after they served the main course," he breathed a laugh at that, looking over from where he'd finally found what he deemed the perfect wine, amused as you twirled around the island in the center of the kitchen, always in a world of your own.
"I'll have a word with him when he comes back," he promised, stealing one more lingering glance before pouring the glasses midway, walking over to the island to cage you in, a shy smile finding your lips as you looked up at him. "Did I get a chance to tell you how marvelous you looked tonight?" you took a glass from his hand, humming both in acknowledgement of his question and at the sweet taste of the wine as it settled on your tongue.
"I believe you tried to do so right before Klaus jumped onto a table to make a dramatic proclamation," you noted and habitually grabbed his shoulder for support as he hoisted you onto the counter, careful, efficient, not even spilling a drop in the process, raising a brow when you didn't let go, tugging his collar back into place. "And then again before you broke that rogue vampire's neck for spilling blood on my shoes," he was the one to hum, a guilty sound, the reminder a silent reprimand from you even if you didn't point it out. "And then again when you insisted on coming home instead of stopping at the corner store to get me poptarts."
"You could've simply said yes," he tutted and though you were happy for the little moment with him, you were still hungry, feeling slightly grumpy for looking forward to a fancy dinner and then having to come home to nothing. "And you know that if we went to that store we'd have left with bags full of candy, not just poptarts," he was right, you knew, he knew, but hell if you'd admit that out loud.
He pulled away too suddenly, leaving you with a frown as he moved to one of the cupboards, not even trying to ignore the way your frown twisted into a delighted smile when he opened it to reveal boxes of poptarts flavours and other snacks you'd on many occasions begged him for in the middle of the night.
"What flavour?" he asked very casually, pulling a clean plate from the drying rack hovering next to the sink, a knowing grin, an arrogant grin if he'd ever held one, on his pink lips.
"Surprise me," and he did, making a great show of hiding the wrapper from you, giving you one as is and slipping the other into the toaster, satisfied when you sighed happily at the first bite. "Cherry," you concluded and he nodded, as if proud you'd guessed, as if it was some big mystery. "Sweet, like the wine."
"I take the pairing process very seriously, you shouldn't be so surprised," he informed you and took the hot pastry when it jumped out, placing it in the plate with a little thud, holding said plate under your hand to keep you from messing on your dress. You offered him a bite of the one in your hand, thumb brushing a sprinkle from his cupid's bow and of course he stole the opportunity to kiss your finger, then your palm, all the way up to your wrist until you giggled at the feeling. "You look ravishing tonight, my love," and he nibbled, it was a daring thing, so close to your pulse, teasing himself just as much as he was teasing you.
"Slow down there mister," you shook your head, faux disapproval as you took another bite, not even bothered by the bit of icing that fell onto your lap. "Poptarts first, more of that later."
"Ahh, priorities," he agreed, moving both your wine glasses out of the way, content to wait, to watch, appreciate you in your little bubble of bliss.

elijah and cookies and cream
cookies and cream — are they protective of their lover?
⤷ with: elijah mikaelson
Tumblr media
Elijah is your scary dog privilege. He's so polite, so observer. Many made the mistake of underestimate him. But those who know what Elijah really is, what he is capable to do for the people he loves, take effort to not be a problem for.
Elijah don't hesitate when you are the subject. It don't matter what happened, he will takes your side and defend you.
If you are mortal (and it time is the only thing separating you from a vampire life), then Elijah will never hesitate. Don't matter what happened, he will be there to support and protect you. He will take your side, and will kill whoever tried to hurt you.
Elijah will use them as vessels. Whoever tried to hurt you, scare you, kill you: they will not be a live being anymore, but just a way to send a message. Elijah will make it painful, and he will make everyone understand what happens when people try to mess with you.
If you know what he is, Elijah will prefer if you don't watch the things he will do. You can, he is not the kind of men to muzzle your freedoms, but he would rather you not seeing him as a monster. And if you do watch, nothing will make him feel better than your sweet embrace. Say you're thankful, that you feel so safe around him, that he's your hero: Elijah will feel held by you. You will feel like home.
But you know nothing about his long, long life, then it will be a little diferent. Elijah will be protecting you while making sure that you will only discover what he is at the right time. You will discover in a way that don't scare you that much, that won't be stressful, in a way that you can look at him without seeing a beast. Anyone who try to change that, or that actually can do it, will suffer.
And don't matter for how long you have been a vampire, no one will mess with you. You are strong, fast, resilient: Elijah will still be by your side. After all, that's what a real gentleman would do. Make sure that his partner is safe and sound.
if you enjoyed, please reblog! i promise it makes a difference ♡

“Care to explain why you’re here again, crying over him?” Rebekah asks as she slides the tea toward you. You were currently seated at the island situated in the middle of the mikaelson’s large kitchen. Which was ironic since they barely cooked.
It had been a horrible evening at your boyfriend’s home. Which wasn’t the first horrible evening, there had been plenty more before this and plenty of times where you’d shown up on the Mikaelson’s doorsteps in the middle of the night with only the clothes on your back and tear stained cheeks.
You take a sip of the tea, sniffling, “Rebekah please, don’t start.”
“It happens time and time again. He doesn’t deserve you and he’s shown that he truly doesn’t care about your feelings. I mean you walked in on him, AGAIN, with another woman. How could you stay with someone like that?”
“Rebekah, I have no where else to go.” You set the cup down, growing angry at the woman in front of you. She didn’t understand the bind you were in, “He’s helped me when I had nothing and I owe him.”
“You don’t owe him anything.” She lays her palms on the cool island, “And how many times have I told you, you have a place here. Always.”
“I won’t be a burden to you and your family.” You stare at the cup in front of you, tears pricking once more. Your boyfriend had you believing you were a burden and he didn’t mind caring for you. He was doing you a favor. But anyone else would find you a burden, so you couldn’t go anywhere.
Elijah quietly steps into the kitchen, “I thought I heard your voice..” Elijah presses a soft kiss to the back of your head, his hand lingering on your back. The last thing you wanted to do was wake Elijah. You’d hoped to have been gone before he’d known you were here.
You always crumbled under him, like his presence was enough to let all your troubles go, let all your tears to fall. He had that comforting way about him and after left your heart feeling confused. You didn’t want to leave him, leave his comforting embrace but felt guilty for placing your troubles on him and would leave to return to your boyfriend.
You leaned into him and he accepted you. His eyes left you to Rebekah for an explanation, “The bastard had another girl in bed with him, again.”
Elijah sighs, pressing another kiss to your head, rubbing comforting circles on your back.
“I think I’ll break his neck,”
“rebekah!” You and Elijah scold, “don’t even joke like that.” You wipe your tears, “he’s been going through a lot of stress with work.”  “That’s no excuse.”
“Rebekah, I think it’s time for you to head upstairs.” Elijah motions toward the door with his head, “I have her from here.” He takes the seat at the island next to you, Rebekah muttering things under her breath as she leaves.
“I love him, Elijah.” You say with defeat, “I love him.”
“I think you’re confused on what love truly is.” He wipes a stray tear from your cheek, “What he’s showing you isn’t love. No where close.”
You face him in the chair, shoulders slumping as you listen to him.
He fixes a stray hair behind your ears, wiping another tear, “Love is giving your absolute all to that person and being committed to that one person. There isn’t another one like them. It’s almost a tunnel vision effect, you see no one but them.” He tilts your chin up to make you look at him, “You’re willing to do anything for that person. Even if it means sacrificing yourself to save them. Do you think he would do that for you?”
You shake your head, “No,” You laugh half heartedly, “he’d probably sacrifice me to save himself.”
“You deserve to be worshipped as a queen, a beautiful goddess.” He traces your facial features with his finger, “and nothing less.”
“Elijah, you’re the only one who thinks that.” Your voice trails off and your gaze focuses on the now cold cup of tea. It never failed that Elijah would remind you that you are a queen to be worshipped. That you deserved nothing less than that.
“let me show you how to be properly loved and worshipped by a man who would die if it meant you lived another day. A man who would give you his everything,” His hands cup your cheeks, your eyes now locked on his. His eyes were soft, filled with such love and adoration. A begging for a chance, a longing for you. “A man who would rather die than live a day without you.” He’s slowly leaning in, his voice full of desperation, “a man who treats you as his queen.”
As his lips hovered over yours, you accepted them, your lips working effortlessly against yours. With every passing second, the thought of the man you’d been with was diminishing. You’d never been kissed by a man the way Elijah did that night. It was as if his life depended on it. Your body melted into his as the kiss grew more intense.
Elijah reluctantly ended the kiss, his hands still cradling your head as his forehead pressed softly against yours, “let me worship you.” His hands are in your hair, desperate to be close to you, “my queen.”

Out Of This World
Chapter 2
Masterlist
Pairing: Elijah Mikaelson x fem!Reader x Dean Winchester
Summary: You and the Mikaelsons are fighting a powerful witch that’s trying to take over New Orleans. The only solution: banishment to another universe. However, the spell goes… wrong, and it’s not the witch that ends up in another universe, but you. - At the same time, over a thousand miles away in a bunker in Lebanon, Kansas, an alarm goes off: a rift has opened up. The Winchesters and their angel partners in crime decide to investigate. What will they find when they get to New Orleans?
Word count: 3213 words
Warnings: angst, panic attack, high anxiety
Tumblr media
Previously: “No… no, no, no, no.” Your whisper grew more panicked with each syllable. The faint humming sound in your ears picked back up as your blood began to rush through your body again. Panic rose in your chest and tightened its grip until you felt like you couldn’t breathe, oxygen be damned. The spell had worked. They had successfully sent someone to an alternate universe, just like they had planned. It just wasn’t Athea who’d been transported from one universe to another. It was you.
Your heart was hammering in your chest as you stood in the entrance to the alley. You kept taking deep breaths, trying to hold the panic at bay - or more like, keep it in check, before you had a meltdown right there and then. It was hard to keep yourself from spiraling, but you knew it would be of no use. You had to figure out what to do.
Your hand reached into your pocket and found your phone and before you knew it, you had Elijah's number dialed. A small voice inside you whispered that it was pointless, but you didn't listen and instead held on to the part of you that was still hoping that you were wrong. That you were somehow just hallucinating. There was no denying the spell had gone wrong, but maybe everything could be explained somehow, if you could just get in touch with your people.
It didn't even ring once before a mechanical voice informed you that the number you had reached had been disconnected or was no longer in service. Your stomach dipped, but you quickly dialed Klaus instead. "The number you are calling doesn't exist." By now, you felt bile climbing up the back of your throat. Your hands were beginning to shake, but you forced them into fists, willing them to still so you could dial the next number. Hayley was next. Then Freya. With every announcement that the number either didn't exist or was disconnected, your panic grew a little more. You tried Jackson's number and almost threw your phone against the wall in frustration when the same message was repeated to you again, groaning and tears stinging in your eyes. "Come on!" you exclaimed and clicked on Rebekah's contact next. Everyone you'd tried so far had been part of the team on scene. Maybe, if you'd tried Rebekah, who'd stayed home with Hope... Someone had to pick up. Someone just had to. They won't. They can't, the small voice whispered in the back of your head, but you ignored it and pressed dial.
The fact that the call went through and it rang almost made you cry with relief.
If this is an emergency, leave a message."
You stared at your display. You'd clearly dialed Rebekah's number. "Who the hell is Dean Winchester?," you muttered to yourself. You tried Rebekah again, but instead got the same mailbox message.
Clearly, this was going nowhere, but you refused to give up. You swiped back up your contacts and dialed Camille's number. It rang twice before the line got picked up.
"Hello?"
It was like someone was pouring warm honey over you and washing you clean of anxiety from head to toe at the sound of Camille's voice.
"Oh my god! Finally! I've been trying absolutely everyone and no one's picking up. I think something went wrong, everyone's gone, Athea too but I don't-" The words poured out of your mouth until Camille interrupted you. "I'm sorry, who's this?"
The temporary relief you had felt at Cami picking up the phone started crumbling away. "Wha- this is Y/N?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, but I think you've got the wrong number!" Camille's voice was cheery, if a bit empathetic. Your phone dropped from your ear as your arms sunk down in defeat. It was pointless. Of course Cami wasn't going to recognize you. How could she, if she'd never met you to begin with - not in this universe.
"Hello?" Her voice squeaked out of your phone's speaker. You took a big breath and then lifted the phone to your ear again. "You're right, I misdialed. My bad. Sorry to have bothered you." Your voice sounded small and defeated. The lump in your throat was so thick now that you'd barely gotten your last words out. Before Camille could reply, you quickly hung up and stuffed your phone back into your pants. I have no idea what to do, you thought. It was then that you finally allowed the tears to come.
Tumblr media
"Go ahead Sammy, you're on speaker." Dean handed his phone over to Cas while keeping his eyes fixed on the road. The angel held it up between the two of them.
"So we've looked at what little data we have, and I can't say I've got much for you," Sam's voice croaked out of the speaker, just loud enough to be heard over the sound of Baby's engine and rain softly drumming on the car's windshield. "All I can tell you right now is that, so far, no other rifts have opened up." "Well, that's good," Cas stated in his typical matter-of-fact voice. "Sure, but I don't like how little information we have. Dean, we have no idea what you guys are walking into." Sam's worry wasn't unjustified. He had a point. But what was he supposed to do? Dean didn't see how he had a choice. Yeah, they didn't know what awaited them, but really, when had they ever truly known what to expect? As far as he was concerned, this was just going to be like any other hunt until proven otherwise. Until then, him and Cas would have it covered.
"Relax, Sammy, we've got it. We're not gonna march in there and get ourselves blown up. You know me, I'm a careful guy!" He grinned at Cas, who just raised a brow at him. Cas had gotten better at catching sarcasm, but it sometimes still eluded him. Sam scoffed on the phone. "Right, because that's what you're known for." Dean shook his head, both at Sam's response and the angel's failure to recognize his joke.
It was true, of course. If there was a word to describe Dean's life with, 'safe' definitely wasn't it. Their job came with undeniable risks, risks that both Dean and Sam were acutely aware of. It was precisely why Dean had ordered his brother and Jack to stay home. If anything went wrong, at least Sammy wouldn't be in the line of fire. As for Cas... well, Cas had powers. Powers that could come in useful. And he trusted Cas a hell of a lot more than the baby Nephilim back home in the bunker.
"You said we don't know much. What do we know, then?" Dean decided to change the subject. He didn't want his brother worrying about him. "Honestly, no more than when you left, really. I can't even tell you if the rift's still open." Dean grunted in response. They really had close to nothing. "I don't think the rift is still open." Jack's voice was quieter than Sam's. Dean couldn't tell if the younger angel was further away from Sam's phone or if he was afraid to speak up. Jack had been behaving extra cautiously around him for a while now, and Dean hadn't exactly given him any reason not to. As far as he was concerned, he tolerated the Nephilim, no more, no less than that. Sam had clearly already forgiven their mother's death. Dean didn't see that in the cards for him anytime soon. "What makes you say that?" Castiel inquired, saving Dean from having to respond. "The blinking stopped, didn't it? From what I understand, the table is set to sound an alarm for a specific amount of time once it has picked up a frequency. Wouldn't it still be going if the rift was still open?" By now, the rain had picked up and was coming down in buckets. Dean set Baby's windshield wipers on the highest setting. "Sam?" It took Sam a moment to respond. "I think Jack has a point. The original settings of the table allowed to track anything supernatural for as long as it was putting out a frequency. Once the radar picks up a frequency, the system should put out a warning for a minimum of ten minutes. Theoretically, if a rift stayed open any longer than... however long this one was open for, then the system should continue to alert for that amount of time in addition to the warning itself."
"Dude. English. I'm not Charlie." Dean couldn't see his brother, but assumed he was rolling his eyes at Dean's lack of technical know-how.
"When I updated the table, I didn't change the previous code. If the rift was still open, we should still be getting a signal, just like Jack said."
"Well, you could have just said that, nerd," Dean countered. He was certain that Sam was now definitely rolling his eyes.
"So we know the rift is closed. That makes it harder to find." Once again, Castiel hit the nail on the head with his matter-of-fact-ness.
"Yeah, well," Dean said, trying to make light of the situation, "we won't get to NOLA before early morning. We got time to figure it out until then."
Tumblr media
Hope giggled in Rebekah's arms as she happily played with the fountain in the foyer, getting the both of them wet as her tiny hands repeatedly hit the surface of the water. Rebekah couldn't help but smile at her niece's joy. She leaned down to place a kiss on Hope's head when she heard hurried footsteps approaching the main entrance of the compound. Not a second later, her siblings stormed in, followed by the rest of the party that had gone out to deal with Athea.
Rebekah instinctually knew that something had gone wrong. Instead of boasting about their win like Nik' normally would have, he wore a grim, tight-lipped expression. However - and more disturbingly so - it was Elijah who had a murderous look on his face, when it was usually Niklaus who was known as the more temperamental one. Behind the two, Freya, Hayley and Jackson followed, all of them looking similarly upset. You, however, were very noticeably not part of their entourage.
"What happened?," Rebekah asked as she handed Hope over to Hayley, who had beelined straight towards the duo. Hayley accepted Hope into her arms and pressed a kiss to her child's forehead, but didn't offer an answer. Rebekah looked back at the compound entrance, expecting you to walk in any second as she waited for a reply. "Where's Y/N?" The silence that followed was stretched uncomfortably long.
"Freya? What happened?," Rebekah inquired again, this time with more urgency in her voice. Her sister sighed as she braced herself for a retelling of their recent failing when Elijah interrupted them.
"Yes, Freya, why don't you explain what happened."
The tone in Elijah's voice didn't go unnoticed, but Freya straightened her shoulders and recounted what had happened in the alley. It didn't take her long to catch Rebekah up. "Am I to understand that Athea is dead, but Y/N is trapped in another universe?" Rebekah couldn't believe it. Here she thought they'd finally found a way to trump Athea and that old crow had still outsmarted them. "But how is that even possible?"
"That, my dear sister, is something I'd like to know myself." Elijah had stopped pacing around and was now watching Freya intently. Freya, in return, took on a defensive stance.
"Are you implying something, brother? Do you honestly think I had something to do with Y/N's disappearance?"
The two siblings stared at each other for a moment before Elijah's gaze ultimately softened. "Of course not. You have proven your loyalty to this family. My first concern is to get Y/N back. I don't expect arguments over why this issue should take precedence." He paused briefly as if to give room for possible interjections, but none came. He briefly nodded at the unspoken collective agreement and continued. "However, I do believe it's necessary to investigate how Athea gained knowledge of our plan. We cannot afford a spy in our midst, even if the evil has been defeated."
"I'll put word out, see if our people can find out anything," Jackson volunteered. Klaus nodded appreciatively but held a hand out to the man. "Be careful. It shouldn't become known that we're chasing mole. We wouldn't want the rodent to scurry in fear and bury itself before we can find it." Jackson grunted in agreement and headed towards the grant entrance.
"I'll go back to Kol's playhouse, see if we missed anything. He had the banishment spell, perhaps he's hiding a retrieval spell somewhere as well." Freya shot Rebekah a look who instantly agreed. "I'll come with," she said and linked her arm through her sister's. "Four eyes see more than just two. Six eyes might see even more," she added with a look at Klaus. "I'll keep my eyes on our brother instead," the hybrid replied and patted Elijah on the shoulder. "Make sure he doesn't shred the place to pieces." He winked at his brother. Elijah scoffed. "Don't mistake me with yourself, Niklaus." Klaus grinned. "We'll hold the fort. Call us when you've got something." Freya and Rebekah nodded and left for the cemetery.
With the two Mikaelson sisters leaving, only Hayley and the two Mikaelson brothers were left at the compound. She hesitated briefly, then walked over to Elijah with Hope on her arm. She squeezed his shoulder briefly. "We'll find her, Elijah. Don't worry."
Tumblr media
The doorbell jingled, announcing your presence to the room, but only a few eyes darted your way as you entered the bar. Your heart clenched at the familiarity of the place. This might not have been your universe, but this was every bit your Rousseaus' as you knew it. The same familiar smell, the same furniture, the same decorations. Hell, even the patrons looked the same.
"You look like you could use a drink."
How could a voice provide so much comfort and pierce your heart so harshly at the same time? It pained and gave you solace at once. There she was, polishing a glass with that warm, expectant smile she gave to any lost soul that stumbled into her bar. You'd seen her put it on about a million times and had always wondered how she always just knew. Camille wasn't a vampire, but she had a fine nose regardless that gave her the ability to sniff out the dispirited ones from a mile away. Admittedly, it sort of came with the territory. Half the people who sought out bars came to forget, not to mingle. You'd always been one to mingle. Tonight, however, you might just switch camps.
"Why don't you take a seat and I'll pour you one? First one's on the house."
Ah, there it was. The line that put a smile on the mingler's faces and got the wary ones to stay. Not that you'd needed any convincing to stay in the first place. You had nowhere else to go. Literally and figuratively.
You slid into a seat at the counter near the register. Your eyes briefly darted to the right, far-off corner of the counter, just quick enough to notice your usual spot close to the kitchen was empty. Your nails scratched at a dried spot of something unrecognizable in front of you. The chatter of the pre-evening crowd and the subtle music faded into the background as the buzzing in your ears picked back up. To have a place look and feel so much like home when it couldn't possibly be any further from your own reality...
A glass clunked down in front of you, pushed into your field of vision by a delicate hand.
"Here you go!"
You fixated on the glass for a couple of seconds before your silence stretched too long and into the territory of discourtesy. "Thank you." Your voice was small, barely above a whisper. Nevertheless, Camille had heard you, as her hand moved over to yours and squeezed it gently.
"You're welcome. If you need to talk, wave me down. I'm a good listener!" You didn't have to look up to know she'd winked at you warmly. You'd heard it in her voice, and you'd seen her do it too many times to not know. You'd always been in awe of her ability to have her warmth, combined with a drink, provide immediate, albeit small relief to people she didn't know. It would have worked on you too, had it not been for the fact that your best friend showed no sign of recognizing you. She was giving you the same lonesome duckling treatment that she gave all her customers. You'd always wondered what it would have felt like if you hadn't know Camille and had just randomly wondered in one night, looking to forget and to be provided with her solicitude. Now, that you were on the receiving side of it, it was just painful.
Two drinks later, you still hadn't said a single word. Cami had wordlessly replaced your first drink once you had emptied it and hovered around you from time to time, to see if you would open up. But you couldn't bring yourself to talk. Hell, so far, you hadn't even managed to look her in the eyes. You just couldn't. To look up and find absolutely no recognition in her eyes - you were sure it would wipe out the last of whatever was keeping you upright in your seat right now.
The doorbell jingled again, followed by a quick set of steps that approached the register. "Hey Cami, you got a quick burger for me?" You felt your insides tighten as the man who'd stopped next to you spoke. He was drumming on the countertop with his index-fingers, blissfully unaware of your reaction. "You got it, Vince. Just give me a couple minutes," Camille replied and turned away from the wall of liquor she'd just been busying herself with. She was about to pass you by when she slowed down in front of you. You could feel her eyes watching you, piercing the top of your head. You hadn't only not spoken, you also hadn't looked up once since you'd come in. "Hey, why don't you wait over by the kitchen? You can snack on a few fries, if you want," she added after a brief pause. You heard Vincent clap his hands together in excitement. "You ain't gotta tell me twice," he quipped before he strode off to the kitchen. A hand snuck into your field of vision again, softly tugging at one of your fingers. "Hey, make sure you don't break this one, yeah? Blood is such a bitch to clean up." Your brows furrowed in confusion before you realized that you were clutching your glass so tightly, your knuckles had turned white. You forced yourself to relax your fingers and in return received an approving pat on your hand. "There you go. Thanks!"
You couldn't help it but glance up then. Camille smiled and winked at you, before she sauntered off after Vincent. You watched this world's version of your best friend as she disappeared into the kitchen and couldn't help but wonder if anyone had ever felt more lonely than you in this very second.

A/N: Only took me forever to get here, but we've made it, chapter 2 is here! I had this chapter planned out for so long but couldn't find the right words. Not a lot of action compared to the previous chapter, but I promise, there is more to come! How's Y/N gonna get on all by herself? And how are Dean and Cas go about finding out what happened to the rift in NOLA? Stay tuned to find out! 😉
Feedback is greatly appreciated! Let me know if you’d like to be added to the taglist ☺️

Ok ok I really love you! That's the last request hahaha I don't wanna annoy you ❤️ I had this somehow cute idea where you've fallen in love with him but he doesn't know and one time you get a little drunk with the girls, later deciding to grab a taxi to the Mikaelson house. Klaus is the one letting you in but Elijah already felt your presence and tries to keep you safe around Klaus, or as you start playing with their swords and stuff. Klaus watches with amusement at his brother taking care of a human girl and makes a comment like "better keep her before I do", and that wakes something in Elijah that he takes you to his room, just to keep you safe. You end up cuddled on top of him, admitting your love to him before falling asleep. He also realizes that he has feelings for you, but he decides to tell you properly in the morning when you wake up 😊😙
Description: A drunken reader leads to playful chaos between the Mikaelson brothers and feelings being revealed.

First Person's POV
Girls' night out was amazing, I haven't had a night like this in ages, away from all the drama and finally able to just relax with the girls and just be us. I knew I was getting tipsy, I could feel my giggles becoming more and more prominent than normal. The girls were going home, so I decided to head towards the Mikaelson house, I stood on the street hailing a taxi and stumbled into the vehicle once it arrived. I asked to be taken to the address, the walk to the porch of the Mikaelson resident seemed like an incredible challenge, I'm sure that to an outsider I just looked like a fawn learning to walk but I felt as if I was climbing Mount Everest.
I giggled to myself as I fell against the door, I sucked in a breath, trying to pull myself together as I knocked waiting for someone to answer. I was surprised when it was Niklaus, I waved almost childishly, smiling brightly at the Hybrid who clearly seemed amused by my current state.
In all honesty, I have no clue how I ended up sword-fighting with Niklaus, however, somehow this is where we ended up. Sword fighting in the parlour. I highly recommend it, however, do take care. I grinned brightly seeing Elijah walking forward with his usual look of concern plastered on his face, however, once he was at my side he smiled.
"Good evening, Y/n, I didn't realise you'd be joining us."
"Spur of the moment type thing." I turned my attention back to Niklaus, continuing our little sword fight, I jumped as Elijah used his speed to appear in front of me, I grinned excitedly but quickly pouted as he took the sword off of me.
"How about instead you sit with me, and tell me all about your night?" The pout faded away, I nodded in agreement, sitting on the sofa with him and instantly began rambling on about every little detail that went on tonight. I'm sure I shared details I wouldn't typically share in normal conversation, my filter was non-existent and oh, how I know that if I could watch myself right I would wish for it badly.
"Am I okay to take my shoes off?" I questioned glancing down to the hells that were now becoming painful and unwanted. Elijah nodded, though, after watching my struggle he lightly took my hands and proceeded to continue to charm me with his gorgeous smile that drew me in the first time I saw him.
"May I help you?" I nodded, frustrated with my inability to undo the damn straps on my shoes, Elijah kindly took my shoes off for me and rested them to the side. The vampire stared at me for a good minute, assessing my needs and whatever else that was needed to be assessed.
"I'll be right back, I'll get you some water." I threw my arms around him, giggling happily, thanking him and plopped back into the couch. I waited patiently for both vampires to return, I fiddled with my hands, staring at everything in the room and running my finger over my lips making odd sounds just for the sake of it.
Elijah's POV
I began pouring some water, and getting some things prepared for Y/n knowing that in the morning the hangover would come, I wanted her to be okay and wanted her to be safe. So I was quite glad that Niklaus chose to follow instead of causing more havoc with Y/n.
"You know, brother, you better sweep her up before I do." His smirk and words struck a chord. He knew of my feelings, Niklaus knew that I would do anything for her and knew that he would follow through on his words. I made my way back to the living room, stopping in my tracks seeing her laying upside down on the couch, he head on the floor and her legs dangling over the backrest of the sofa.
I bit back the smile dying to show, I sat beside her, smiling as she waved happily and awkwardly twisted and turned trying to get back into an upright position. I took her hands, smiling as she rested her head on my shoulder and that gorgeous smile just permanetly stuck on her lips.
"Come with me, will you, please?" Y/n nodded, taking my hand and following me to my room. I handed her the glass of water, watching as she plopped onto my bed finishing the glass of water within a gulp and began curling up underneath the blankets.
'Would you lay with me, please? I couldn't refuse, I nodded and kicked off my shoes and rested besides her. I wrapped my arms around her as she began to lay upon me, her eyes were fluttering open and shut her words escaping in a mumble.
"I love you, Elijah. I really love you. Like a lot. Super a lot." Before I could even deny anything, I could feel her swiftly fall asleep, I didn't want to disturb her, I didn't want this moment to end. I knew that in this moment I wanted to confess my feelings for her, so I thought it would be best to do so in the morning.
First Person's POV
As the light shined into the room, I knew my headache would be a bitch to deal with, I pushed myself up into a sitting positon in the boat. I stretched briefly, jumping slightly to see Elijah walking into the room with a glass of water and a packet of painkillers.
"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you." I whispered, sipping the water and taling the painkillers. Elijah sat on the bed besides me, I rested my head on his shoulder and began sharing my apology.
"I'm so sorry, was I a complete mess?"
"No, not at all."
"You're a liar." I whispered.
"You were just really giggly and silly. You told me you loved me- I don't know how much of that was true..."
"That was true, I meant that." I confirmed, seeing there was no point in denying the fact that I loved him. Elijah sat in silence for a good moment, I could feeel my heart halt for a second fearing that his reaction cold be poor and that he would react in a way that ruin our friendship.
"I love you too." He whispered, his eyes focused on me, I glanced to him surprised and shocked about the outcome of the confession. I smiled pushing myself up and grabbed ahold of his face. Looking to see if the noble vampire was lying to me, he grabbed my hands, his look gentle and comforting. I knew just then that it wasn't a lie and that this was all true.

Hunted
Elijah Mikaelson x Reader
Summary: Elijah has been hypnotised into hunting you. How can a human escape an original?
Word Count: 1.1k
Tumblr media
Moonlight crept in through the trees, providing the faintest light for you to navigate. Your heart was pounding in your chest, feeling as though it was going to break out.
It wasn’t him. Not really. But right now it didn’t matter, he was coming after you and there was nothing you could do. Being a human had never made you feel more weak than right now in this moment.
You were forcing your lungs to take in air slowly, quietly. You held a sharp stick close to your body, prepared to use it at any moment.
Leaves crinkled beneath your feet as you walked, causing you to wince form the sound.
Your eyes darted around the trees, fearing every shadow was Elijah.
Not the Elijah you loved. The Elijah hypnotised by Esther. The Elijah out for your blood.
Your own pulse pounded against your ear drums, causing panic to rise into your chest. If you chest constricted anymore than it already had, you thought you may pass out.
You kept walking quietly, hoping Klaus was on his way to stop his brother.
Before another thought could enter your mind, you were thrown forward; slamming into the tree in front of you.
Your hands scraped against the bark, ripping into your skin as you held yourself up.
Your breath quickened as you turned around, facing the empty forest. You knew it was him. He was taunting you. This version of him enjoyed the hunt, revelling in your fear.
Your knuckles whitened as your hands gripped the branch. You knew you’d never be fast enough to use it, yet here you were, trying to stop the man you loved.
You paused for a moment before deciding you needed to run. You fell into a sprint, jumping over logs on the ground and not turning back.
Your breath was loud and you cursed yourself for it, knowing he could hear exactly where you were. Your vision was blurry as you ran, tears forming in your eyes.
Elijah stood tall in front of you, causing you to holt to a stop. You slipped back and fell to the ground, staring up at him.
“Elijah… please” you begged, hoping he was in there somewhere. “This isn’t you”
His eyes felt empty, as though you were nothing to him. Just another kill.
All you could do was wait as he walked towards you.
He reached down, towering over you and grabbed you by the collar of your shirt. He pulled you from the ground and flared in fangs at you. His eyes were red and veiny as he prepared to sink his teeth into you.
Your hand pushed out without you thinking as you slammed the branch into his chest, piercing his heart.
He groaned before his hands let go of you, dropping you to the ground. You broke off into another sprint, adamant not to look back.
Elijah pulled the branch from his chest and snarled before looking over his shoulder, seeing you run from him in fear.
You were no match for his speed. No one was.
When he caught you again, he decided to act quickly; sinking his teeth into your neck as he grabbed you from behind. You let out a scream as you reached your hands around, smacking your fists into his head.
Your efforts were wasted as he drank from you, savouring the taste of your blood. His grip on you was tight, making sure there was no chance of escape.
Your skin grew pale as the blood was drained from your body. Your vision darkened as you stared up into the moonlit sky.
“…Elijah..” you whispered softly.
His ears perked up at your voice, recognising the tone in which you spoke.
You barely felt his hands loosen before his fangs retracted.
He lowered you to the ground, his eyes scanning rapidly over your face as he began to realise what he was doing.
“…no… no no no” he whispered urgently before reaching up to his reach, biting into his skin to draw blood.
He pressed his wrist against your mouth, preying you would wake up.
“Please… Y/N… I’m so sorry… Please, wake up!” He begged, feeling the panic rise into his chest.
Your vision faded into black, barely hearing his pleading before you blacked out completely.
-
Sunlight creeped into through the curtains, causing you to squint as your eyes slowly opened.
Your hand flew to your neck and your breath quickened, remembering Elijah and what he did.
You sighed as you felt your skin, noticing the smooth surface; making it clear you had been healed.
You threw the sheets off you as you stood up from the bed, realising how tired your body felt. You must have been blacked out for a while.
A knock on the door caught your attention as you snapped around, locking eyes with Elijah as he stood in the doorway.
He held his hands together in front of his body as he looked over at you; his face showing his immense regret.
“Y/N… I’m…” he began to say softly.
“Don’t.” You said quickly, stopping him. “It wasn’t your fault” you finished before looking down at the floor, still feeling anxious around him.
He took a few steps towards you, carefully approaching. “I know, but I am still sorry” he said, his eyes welling up slightly. “I never wished to cause you harm”.
You looked back up at him, feeling your chest tighten as he spoke.
You stepped towards him, closing the gap between the two of you. Looking into his eyes now, you knew it was him. You knew he would never hurt you.
His eyes drifted away from you as he felt immense shame washing over him.
You brought your hands up to his cheeks, moving his head slightly. “I know..” you said softly before leaning up and pressing your lips against his.
You felt his hesitation, as though he were afraid he may hurt you again. Your lips were soft and gentle against him, causing him to let his guard down and return your kiss.
He was gentle with you, his hands grazing your back as he held you.
You pulled away slowly, gazing up into his eyes and smiling softly.
“I love you..” he said softly, his voice cracking slightly as he spoke.
Your smile grew wider, “I love you” you replied before leaning in again.
This time you pressed yourself against him, feeling a sense of urgency as you kiss him.
His arms wrapped around you, tighter than before. He vowed to himself to never cause any harm to you again, and to protect you at any cost.. even from himself if need be.

Why?

(Eventual) Elijah Mikaelson x Reader
When you're hurt and it's not a product of a hunt you intend to hide away and lick your wounds in private but a certain Mikaelson begins to worry and comes to your rescue.
The first knock at your door you disregarded. Surely it was your neighbor or maybe someone with a wrong address. You rented a small place just outside of the french quarter after all so people having a few too many and reading addresses wrong was a usual occurrence.
You were sore over every inch of your body. You were fairly sure nothing was broken but that knowledge didn't stop the pain that every slight movement caused. More than the pain was the embarrassment that this injury had come at the hands of humans. How could you have slipped up that bad?
You'd nearly fallen back asleep when your phone started to ring. You groaned from the effort of pushing yourself up to a sitting position and reached for it.  The moment you saw the caller id you cursed. It was Elijah. You'd avoided him for the better part of the last week but one of his siblings must have caught wind that you'd made it back in town. You didn't want him to see you hurt. You'd tried to always have your feet under you around the ancient vampire.
He knocked you off balance so you covered it expertly with vague threats and sass. You weren't up to the usual repertoire between the two of you.
You took a deep breath and hoped it wouldn't show in your voice how exhausted you truly were “Elijah Mikaelson, to what do I owe the privilege?” “My darling little hunter. I heard from my sister that you've been in town for nearly a week. Are you avoiding me by chance?” You shifted in the bed and a groan escaped your lips. You closed your eyes praying he hadn't heard. “Not avoiding you. Just been busy”
He was silent for a moment and the thought hit you that maybe he'd hung up until he spoke “Care to answer the door then?” shit, he was the person at your door. “I'll come by later. Just make sure Klaus knows so it's not an announced thing”  “Come to the door” you could feel the pull in his voice and tsk-tsked “Now now Elijah. You promised a long time ago to not try to compel me. Besides I've got enough wards tattooed on me it's next to impossible even for a vampire of your age”
“Please come to the door” he tried again and you could tell how much it took for him to add the please. “Ok” you hung up the phone and glanced around the room. Your oversized hoodie looked like the best option so you tugged it on over the sports bra and shorts you were currently wearing. It hit mid thigh and with the hood up covered most of your bruises along with the black eye and how swollen the left side of your face was.
You slowly walked across the small space to your front door and unlocked all three locks before swinging the door open to reveal the vampire standing at your door. Elijah was always impeccably dressed, today he was wearing a black tailored suit which fit him in a way that would've practically made your mouth water any other day.  He had some stubble gracing his chiseled jaw which just added to how handsome he truly was.
A slight smirk started to slip across his face when he looked in your door but it quickly fell when his eyes met yours.  “Invite me in” Elijah had come to your place a few times but you'd never extended an invite. It caused too much of a risk. You were welcome in the home he shared with his siblings despite you being a hunter and them originals.
You shook your head slowly but that made the room tilt and you were forced to grab the door frame for support. “Invite me in” he repeated. You managed a weak laugh “You gonna finish me off Mikaelson?” His eyes narrowed so you decided screw it if he threw the niceties to the side and did snap your neck at least you wouldn't be hurting anymore “Come into my home Elijah”
The moment he crossed the threshold he pushed your hood down and you saw the monster that always lurked just below the surface darken his eyes “Did this occur on a hunt?” You dropped your eyes “Yeah” you felt him move before his fingers ever so gently graced your chin, pulling your face up where you had no choice but to look him in the eye “I'm going to ask once more and make my question more direct. Who or what did this to you?”
You swallowed hard under his gaze. You didn't want to tell him. It was a couple dozen dirty cops. They wanted to use hunters as guns for hire. Technically most hunters had faked their deaths already so who better to pull off kills then the dead? “A few people who wanted me to work for them and I refused”
“Humans did this? My dear I've seen you fight” you nodded slightly, a grimace gracing your face due to the movement causing another wave of dizziness “They caught me by surprise and a taser is very much a field evener for us mere humans”
It occurred to you that he was still holding your face so you tried to move away from him but you swayed slightly and before you could protect he was picking you up bridal style. “You need to see a doctor” “No insurance” you mumbled, trying to fight the urge to lay your head against his chest as he carried you over to your bed, pulling the blanket back to lay you down.
He sat down gently on the side of the bed and motioned to the hoodie “May I?” You nodded and felt him pull the soft material up your body. His touch made goosebumps rise across your flesh and you hoped he'd mistake the way your heart started to beat faster for pain. “I'll bring one to you. Need to ensure you don't have any internal damage then you're going to tell me who exactly was involved”
“Why do you care, Elijah?” You asked and he simply smiled before pulling the hoodie back down “Perhaps I've allowed myself to become fond of the fact that you're not afraid of me. Quite the opposite you don't mind reminding me just how many of my kind you've killed. You're a hunter, I've made peace with that but this? This isn't your job, this was an attack that deserves an answer and I will gladly deliver one”
You nodded slowly then asked “Are you gonna pay a doctor or compel one?” He shrugged “Whichever works better” you motioned to where your jacket laid “Keys are in the right hand pocket. Lock the door when you leave then let yourself back in” “I'll be back soon” He promised and you knew he would. He would come back with a doctor and if you asked he'd slaughter anyone who'd ever hurt you, the question was why?
