You have been trying for weeks to write another book, the drafts are uh… Questionable. The last book, a standalone, was a normal book, with a bit of romance and a bit of adventure. This one is straight debauchery, if anyone read this they would think you are sex-crazed!

Are you?

You have been thinking about your night with Orpheus a lot, sometimes you write about the things. Naughty things. Those papers are hidden away in your wooden wardrobe. Agh, it plagues your thoughts! And though it has been three days since he touched you… You swear you still feel his hands all over you.

“Damn it!” Whispering to yourself as three papers of paper is literally all sex. Or how you imagine sex would be like. Nightmare gave you a taste with only his finger, you wonder what it would be like if he… 

You rub your eyes and lean back against your chair to scratch your back. What time is it? Then you look at the time and see you should have slept hours ago. Three in the morning! You cannot believe you wrote so much debauchery, oh no. Worse is the mess of crumbled pieces of paper around you, other attempts at lust written down.

You groan, maybe you should go to bed! Yet, the bed feels empty these days. A loneliness has settled in as your sheets are cold, you want him here to warm you.

It is funny how needy you feel, after that day you are more physically affectionate with him. You are affectionate naturally but it feels more needed on your side. He enjoys it though, like holding you or sharing his coat with you. You thank God every day for the creature who holds your heart in his hands and his in your hands.

Just thinking about it makes you feel warm, fuzzy, and eager.

“No! Go to sleep!” Scolding yourself. When you close your eyes, your body turns over to lie on your side. Your eyes stared at the wall, the slight cracks in the wall as your eyes followed meaningless patterns. You pull the blankets closer to your body, curling up in a ball as your hand wanders between your legs.

You squeeze your eyes shut picturing Orpheus’ claws between your legs a few days ago. The second you touch your clothed crotch you jerk and pull your hand away, it feels weird— Odd? God, bury your face in the pillow and let out a long whine of despair.

At some point, you fell asleep and woke up to a gentle but sharp knock at the door. You groan, blinking several times, burying your head in the pillow that begs you to sleep some more.

“Hypnos,” Orpheus’ voice calls out to you, “Are you well?”

This makes you check the times. Your eyes are blurry then they focus to see… Oh no, it is twelve in the afternoon!

“Hypnos?” Hearing stumbling and something fall before you open the door slightly, “Good afternoon, no one saw you most of the day and I grew worried.” A gentle voice as his eyes take in the details of your barely awake form. Cute.

You yawn behind your hand then nod, “Sorry,” Rubbing your eyes, “Had to a burst of inspiration last night.”

“Understandable, I have had my share of those. Glad to see you are well. Lunch is ready but I am sure the kitchen staff can make you breakfast if you wish.”

You nod again.

“Also,” He clears his throat as he adjusts his monocle, “If you are free in the afternoon, might you join me in the smoking room?” 

“Sure! Hope you do not mind that I do not smoke.”

“Not at all. All I wish for is your company.”

You smile, “Of course, anything for a friend.”

Orpheus finds that endearing, disappointing, and a pang of sadness. You should be careful who you call friends here; quickly calling those in the same situation as your friend does not mean friendship blooms.

Sure, Eli has said some are easier to befriend and can be called friends. He, Emma, Lucky Guy, Tracy, and Luca; to name a few. But everyone has their own motivations and Orpheus knows none of them are to be trusted.

Himself included though he would prefer your trust to be with him, he will not backstab you— If he must stab you it will be quick and with him looking into your eyes apologetically.

“Take your time. I will be there shortly.” Leaving as you close the door.

Mealtimes are usually social time for some of the survivors. The non-social ones might take their meals to their rooms or other places where it is quiet.

When you first arrived here, you had accidentally sat in Norton’s seat as you were anxious and shaking like a leaf. The man had terrified you to the point you left without eating and did not return for dinner.

You would sneak out of your room to eat or hoard food in your room. It was bad until… Orpheus spoke to you when he caught you taking out dishes from your room.

That day you felt like a bird that just flew out of the nest, him there beside you as Eli had encouraged you to join them during dinnertime.

Turns out Norton is not bad, still intimidating but he is true to his word about watching your back.

Being at this dining table watching the others is like being around family. Sure it is probably only a feeling Emma will understand but you imagine what a big family is like.

Busy, busy, a few laughs and conversations. You eat your lunch in peace, a few times greeting those who pass by you. A normal afternoon in the manor.

Upstairs there is a smoking room.

Not many use it as not everyone smokes but few do like Orpheus. You find the man standing in the middle of the room facing the left wall which is decorated with paintings. A smoking pipe in his mouth as he takes a few puffs before taking it out of his mouth and holding it in his hand. His gaze is focused, another puff, and he lets out a sigh shaking his head. There is something very distinguished about him, there he stands in more casual clothing with rolled-up sleeves. His monocle switched for small circular glasses, the picturesque sight of a high society man in leisure.

There is no denying Orpheus is not a handsome man, the type who probably had many ladies around him vying for his attention. From what you heard he never had a partner, he was focusing on his writing but never was unwilling to entertain a lady.

When he looks upon you there is a shift from his intense gaze to a gentle look, a practiced smile the second you smile at him. You wonder how many have ever seen him actually smile, a true smile that reaches his eyes.

“Penny for your thoughts?” Speaking up after realizing you might have been staring for too long.

“Heh,” A small chuckle from him as his head turns in your direction, “Musing.” His gaze goes back to the painting on the wall, “The days after Christmas are always the oddest.”

“How so?” You move beside him until he gestures to you to take a seat. There are a few chairs around with small tables with ashtrays. He sits across from you and facing him you realize his shirt is a bit open, just a few buttons but enough to further show he is relaxing right now.

“Two days of celebrating, sometimes three if you know where to look for more parties,” Lean back against his seat with one leg over the other, “A calm before the storm effect. After those few days, New Year's parties start the year with a bang.”

“Sounds like you enjoy those parties.”

“Occasionally,” Taking a smoke, “Did you?”

You shook your head, “I was at one but that was it.”

“The announcement party.”

“You saw me?”

“In passing. The son you ghostwrote for doesn't hold his liquor well. The man flaunting about you during the private party. You have my condolences for dealing with him.”

“Did you… Read those books?” You once read Orpheus' rare review of books. He word making or breaking an author.

“I did.” He gazes slightly to the left, “You have grown since then. The maturity of a writer is fascinating to witness.” Those dark brown eyes back on you, “Has the manor provided you inspiration?”

You think about the question before answering, “Ma always told me to write what I know, and research what I don't.” Speaking your train of thought out loud, “The people here, all from different walks of life with different reasons for being here. Hmm, maybe, I never thought about it.”

There is a chuckle from the author, a look of you wonder if it is adoration, “Such is the lot of a writer. Art often imitates life, we write what we see then alter it into a new world on paper.”

You nod in agreement, “Do you still write?”

“I do.” Taking a smoke then blowing the smoke away from your direction, “Call of the Abyss takes time but the first draft is complete.” Then he leans forward with his feet on the ground and his arms resting on his thighs, “You? Are you going to continue your book?”

You shrug, “Right now, I'm not sure. My mind isn't cooperating, hah.”

“Writer's block?”

“Oh, nothing like that just…” You look away, “New inspiration.” Nervous laugh.

“There is no shame in switching projects. Perhaps a fresh idea will inspire you to continue your previous book.”

You nod then look at him with a questioning expression, “Have you ever written something… uh… Questionable?”

“Hypnos, my genre of literature is dark fiction,” Raising an eyebrow, “Questionable is often what most use to describe my work.”

“I mean… but what if it was really questionable and yet you are proud of it?”

“There is nothing wrong with pushing the boundaries of our society through literature. Many great works we enjoy had to break out of those limited spaces and flourish by being true to reality through fiction.”

“Even the sexual kind?”

“Especially the sexual kind.” He stands up and you follow as he goes over to the serving cart by the wall with the pool table in the middle. The smoke room is barely used but is very fancy to you. “Does that help?” He twists open the bottle of you guess is bourbon and pours a glass.

“A bit. I doubt I could let this one see the light of day, however.” You shake your head at the offer of a drink, “How can you drink that?”

“As you get used to it.” Drink a small sip of it, “Try it.” Offer his few sips of alcohol in the glass. You take it, smelling it makes your face scrunch up making him smile then your drinking makes him laugh at the way you make sounds of disgust. “Perhaps a bit too harsh for you.”

You socialize with Orpheus the rest of the day, being in his company is like living a dream the young you would be so happy to have.

“Here I will show you.”

High society always seemed like a dream, the glamour and what seemed to be the only way to be happy is with money. To a degree, the latter is true to a point. Watching Orpheus explain billiards, watching him bend over slightly as he breaks the triangle of colored and striped balls. You grip your cue as he tells you it is your turn. You chose stripes. 

“This is not easy at all!”

“Hah, take your time,” Standing to the side as he watches you attempt to get the solid white ball to hit a stripe ball, “Pull back slightly.” He advises as he saw you had pulled the cue too far back and knows already that will make the ball bounce off the table. “Now tap it.”

The white ball hits the other ball but does not go into the hole.

“Orpheus,” Speaking as he prepares for his turn.

“Hm?” His eyes are on the table seeing where to strike and the angle.

“Can you do the thing with the stick behind your back?”

He raises an eyebrow at you then makes a ‘oh’ sound, “Yes.” You stand back watching him move the cue behind his back and strike the white ball as one colored ball is stuck and falls into one of the pockets.

You give him a little clap, “Wow!”

“If you know where and how you are going to strike, tricks like that are easy for show.”

“You make it show easy, Mr. Detective.” Laughing a bit, “My turn!” He hands you the chalk to use on your cue and you do with vigorous twisting at the tip with excitement. The Novelist watching with amusement but a bit of worry, what are you doing?

Then he sees you bend and nearly lay across the table with your leg hooked over it. 

At the position he is behind you, the sight is well, as a gentleman he will not let his gaze linger for too long. You strike the ball but still no win, “Damn it.” Getting off the table and standing there scratching your head.

“Here let me help you.” Placing his cue down on the edge of the pool table, “Hold it like this.” Slipping behind you as if he a piece of your puzzle. Suddenly you are aware of how he smells of cologne and tobacco, his hands are soft but not as nimble as you thought, they brush down your hands as he adjusts not only your positioning but your arm placements. “Now strike.” His voice is so low and close to your ear.

The ball strikes true and removes himself from your person before it can be considered any more inappropriate the move he just made.

“Well done.”

You nod looking away, strange how you miss those few seconds of his warmth, “Thank you!” Standing there trying to hide how flustered you are. That was… Familiar like when Nightmare held you close for the first time, minus the scent of fresh tobacco. The game goes on and your mind wanders to his counterpart, Nightmare, and how different they are. Yet, the same. You can see it because you know Nightmare intimately… Thus you know Orpheus perhaps on the same level? No, you just know a part of him, the part of him that is hidden behind smoke and mirrors.

“Looks like you win, hah!” It is a good game and one you would not mind playing again, “Hm?” The way he looks at you lingers, his gaze as intense as the one you saw when you entered the room.

“What does he have that I do not?”

talk shop tuesday - you once mentioned the 'Robby Lawrence' AU and I would love love love to know more about that, and how Johnny having been present in Robby's life would change things in this 'verse (beyond Robby getting some decent parental figures in his life for once).

Oooh there’s a deep cut 😅 last time I talked about that was a couple years back! Here’s the initial post about it if anyone’s curious.

This is also a bit longer than I expected (even tho I only hit some of the highlights 😅) so the rest is below the cut:

So Johnny being more present in Robby's life would also probably improve things with Shannon, because really, I think a lot of Robby's issues with Shannon had to do with the fact that she was trying her level best but she wasn't prepared to be a single mom. She was relying on Johnny to help parent Robby, and of course that never happened in canon—Johnny kept letting her down. But with Johnny more present, I think the two of them would be on better terms with each other and with Robby! They wouldn't be together as a couple, but they're co-parents and friends, and they love Robby, and Robby loves them. So from the jump, there's a more stable relationship.

Also, I mentioned he meets Sam in elementary school* and they strike up a friendship. A one-sided, Shirbert-esque academic rivalry at first (serious from Sam's end, not so much from Robby's end), but then it becomes more playful over time. As a result, Robby also has Daniel and Amanda as...maybe or maybe not parental figures, but definitely trusted adults. Especially Amanda—I love how much those two just get each other, and of course I gotta keep it in this AU idea.

Robby gets pulled into the Miyagi-Do stuff much earlier—Johnny's wary about it, but he and Daniel have resolved their differences by now (especially since Shannon and Amanda are best friends and keep glaring at them whenever they start fighting, so they've been lovingly bullied into reconciling), so Johnny trusts Daniel with Robby. And he sees Robby flourish—he was always a fairly happy kid since meeting Sam, but with karate in particular, it's like a sort of calmness follows him everywhere. Johnny even sits in on a few of Robby's classes, claiming it's to "keep an eye on them", but everyone knows it's because Johnny's kinda warming up to the idea of this more meditative style of karate. (It helps him too. He and Robby practice sparring, and they develop an in-between style of CK and MD together.)

Obviously Robby would be friends with Sam's friends too...well, at least Aisha, Demetri, and Eli**. Yasmine and Moon would rub him the wrong way, and he and Sam would argue a lot about it. Aisha, Demetri, and Eli cut ties with her, and Robby does too, telling Sam, "the girl I knew, who kept trying to befriend the loner new kid and didn't stop until it worked, would never side with the girl bullying her best friend. Come talk to me when you've gotten your head on straight." (Though of course, Robby jumps to her defense when the Kyler rumors pop up, frowning at Aisha when she says something snide. Miguel attacks Kyler before Robby can, and for that, Robby can admit the new kid is pretty cool.)

And he and Anthony would have kind of a...not a brotherly relationship at first, but a tentative respect relationship, that sort of evolves into a brotherly one over the years (when Anthony starts bullying Kenny, Robby's the one who drags him away by the ear and demands to know "what the hell do you think you're doing, Anthony LaRusso" and nips that rivalry in the bud, thank you very much)

Hmm what else...oh! Johnny opens Cobra Kai at the start of canon, Daniel gets pissed about it, but not as pissed as canon—remember, he knows Johnny here. So instead of doing something underhanded, he calls Johnny and demands to know what he thinks he's doing. Reminds him what Kreese did. Johnny snaps back that he doesn't need a reminder, and that it's a free country, he can do what he wants. Daniel has never spoken about KK3, but Johnny's always suspected there was something else, something about '85 that Daniel's not mentioning. He pries a little, but Daniel gets defensive. Tells him to be careful and hangs up. So that part's just slightly changed—it just means no underhanded tricks, more communication for them.

Oh and ofc regarding the romances, there wouldn't be any love triangle nonsense. Miguel would be jealous of Robby from way earlier (because remember, Robby jumped to Sam's verbal defense first), but Robby would say "no, dude, she's like a sister/best friend to me. Ask her out if you want. But...if my dad tries to give you advice, maybe take it with a grain of salt." (Miguel takes her to golf 'n stuff anyway, and Robby figures that's for the best. Casual is better for a first date). And of course with no jealousy nonsense, Miguel and Sam don't break up, so there's no Sam/Robby and Miguel/Tory in s2.

And, actually, Robby and Aisha are both the first to befriend Tory. Now, of course, Robby and Aisha both feel similarly about Sam—they both cut ties with her at the same time and both made amends with her at the same time. But also, Robby's always been the type to defuse the tension (this is a canon trait of his, which would likely carry over more here due to Daniel, Amanda, and Shannon's collective influences). So when Sam starts making accusations and Tory starts getting heated, Robby steps between them, tells them both to calm down, and tells Sam to explain what's going on. So she does, and Robby ropes Tory and Aisha into helping Sam (doesn't take too much convincing for the latter—remember, Aisha forgave Sam in 1x10). They find Amanda's wallet, all is well...and Sam apologizes for making assumptions. Tory's not sure what to make of her, so she just nods (as a result of this, they become friends much earlier).

There's probably more that would change, but these are the big things I can think of 😅 I...did not expect to get hooked on this idea again, but I so am. Thanks for the ask!

*Sam's an Encino kid, but she goes to public school, as Robby probably would too. So that's where they meet.

**Demetri, Eli, Aisha, and Sam all being childhood best friends is a long-standing headcanon of mine, so ofc it would be present here

Sarai and Twist have kids!! Yay! These are my 2010's designs of the kids so they might go through a small redesign in the future but I love em how they are uwu

Quick bios for the kiddos below the cut! I'll post their entire bios when I give them a full reference sheet

Aida Shane - 17

First born daughter of Sarai and Twist! She is very much a daddy's girl and everyone loves her. Aida is very level minded, able to be calm at all times. She is laid back but not in a lazy way, she just goes with the flow, able to think quickly on her feet when needed. Sarai would describe her as a serene sea: calm but a force of nature when stirred.

Thalia Shane - 12

First born of the twins. She is a natural leader, often dragging her brother behind her by the hand so he doesn't wander off as he observes his every surroundings. Also a daddy's girl, often asking him to braid her hair and tell her stories of how he met her mom. Quiet yet energetic, she wishes to be as elegant as her sister which is kind of hard when she loves to get her hands dirty. She adores her uncle Eli and looks up to him!

Theodore 'Theo' William Shane - 12

Theo is the second born of the twins. Not a leader but not quite a follower either, he prefers to explore his surroundings on his own, finding new slugs to befriend and bring home everyday (he cannot keep them though). He adores his mother and looks up to her greatly, he wishes he could be like her one day, strong-willed and so so cool! .

Hi! Here is an interesting ask.

So it is another summer camp au, BUT here's a few differences. Toby and Jim didn't meet until Barabra sent Jim to camp.

Strickler is the head counselor and discovers pretty fast that the amulet chose Jim.

Mary, Darcy, Toby, and Claire find out on the second day due to them following Jim and freaking out upon seeing Blinky and Aaarrrgghh, but have to run from Bular next.

So, here's the first summer camp au post for the comparison

The major difference is that Jim and Toby aren't childhood friends. Jim knows Steve though, and Steve is his next-door neighbor, who basically complicates his life too much. Jim isn't a huge fan of summer camps but sees it as an opportunity to escape Steve at least temporarily. Unfortunately, Steve goes there too, but at least his goons are not with him, and he has less support, so Jim has it easier at the camp.

As for others, Toby doesn't know anyone pre-camp, Eli is from the same place as Claire, but they are just acquaintances, not friends. Mary and Darci are childhood friends, and Claire is their internet friend - three of them agreed to go to the same camp and meet there. Claire, Mary, and Darci share the cabin, and Jim, Toby, Eli, and Steve share one as well (Steve complains a lot).

Jim has an insta-crush on Claire (thinking that perhaps coming to the camp wasn't that bad), and he also instantly befriends Toby. Eli is less excited about everything - he is the one who informs everyone about the stories surrounding the camp. Obviously, no one believes.

Steve proposes a dare game - to venture into the forest at night. Jim agrees out of spite (and well, partially to finally break out of the bullying circle). That is how he discovers the amulet. Strickler who is in the forest as well to discover the amulet sees who exactly has picked it and decides to get closer to Jim and trick him into giving him the amulet.

The next day Jim feels that someone is watching him, but has no idea who. Steve makes fun of him for that, so Jim tries to investigate himself. Toby is worried and follows him. The girls join him as Claire assumes that even if monster rumors are fake, there can be also some dangerous animals in the forest.

Jim has a shocking first meeting with Blinky and Aaarrrgghh (who were the ones watching him all the time). He has no time to process everything as Toby and the girls arrive and are scared as well, and Bular attacks nearly simultaneously, so Aaarrrgghh just grabs everyone and runs. This action makes everyone realize who is the enemy and who is the friend. When everyone is save, Blinky gives a proper explanation and proposes to train everyone.

Steve and Eli get into the secret later, but before that, they unknowingly help Strickler.

You are sitting with Alexia’s family preparing to watch your fiancée play in what can only be assumed is the biggest game of her life, there are high spirits and good vibes around with the incredible number of Barcelona fans who have made it to Turin to watch the game. 

“You are literally drooling” Alba leans forward to whisper to you, the team are doing their warm ups and you can’t help but stare at Alexia, she looks incredible so why wouldn’t you take the opportunity to stare. 

“Jealousy is a disease Alba, just because you aren’t dating anyone on the team at the moment, doesn’t mean you have to ruin my day” you state jokingly, the comment making both Alba and Eli laugh wildly, all while you continue staring at Alexia without even an ounce of shame. 

“I just think it is weird that you are my best friend and you are staring at my older sister like that” Alba explains. 

“Alba, she is literally engaged to Alexia, shut up” Eli responds, a cheeky smile on her face, as Alba sulks, making complaints about how you are her favourite child even though you aren’t even biologically her daughter. 

Soon enough the team has finished their warm ups and are making their way back to the locker room. As they are walking back Alexia catches a glimpse at where you are sitting, her eyes light up knowing that you are here, she knew you were coming but actually being able to confirm for herself that you are physically here and made it fills her with a sense of happiness and tranquillity. 

She blows a kiss your way and keeps walking, now making sure to focus on what is ahead, not allowing herself to be distracted. 

“I can’t believe THE Alexia Putellas blew a kiss at me” Alba dramatically acts like a fangirl, all while knowing extremely well that the kiss was not at all directed towards her. 

“And I can’t believe that I am friends with you” you respond, with an eye roll. 

“Excuse me (Y/N/N), we are not friends we are BEST friends and I know you only became friends with me to get close with Alexia” Alba argues, even though everyone is well aware that it is not true. 

“Ali I wish that was the case but seeing as you didn’t even tell me you had a sister for 5 years it seems that I just befriended you because I felt bad” you joke. 

“Take that back right now!” Alba yells, you instead just poke your tongue out at her, “Mama, (Y/N) is being mean to me” she whines looking at her mum like a child does when they tattle on their siblings. 

“Alba stop provoking my baby” Eli responds, pulling you into her arms, the action just making Alba pout even more. 

Before anymore arguments can break out the teams are walking out of the tunnel to line up, you again can’t help but stare at Alexia, this time though it is with a look of admiration and with a feeling of pride knowing that she has led the team to this moment and that she could possibly be leading them to victory today. 

The game starts and you can’t help but immediately feel extremely nervous, this is a game of 90 minutes but you will worriedly sit on the edge of your seat until the final whistle blows even if they go up 5-0 you still never feel secure until it is over. 

The first goal of the game does not do anything to calm your nerves. You first are worried immediately when Alexia is flipped onto the ground, knowing that one day she won’t get up as easily as today. Then of course from the action comes the goal, an incredible one you admit to yourself but it places the thought in your mind that this is now Barcelona’s game to lose and the ramifications that would come along with that result. 

The next goal scares you even more, the header from Ada Hegerberg, you know just how much tension and rivalry is behind that goal, with the lead up to the game making it extremely clear that it was Ada's personal goal to defeat Barcelona to prove that Lyon are just as, if not more important to the women’s game than Barcelona. 

The third goal is downright annoying, all players calling for offside but it being ignored. This is the point where you sadly admit to yourself that the game has been lost, there may still be a whole half of football to play but you know deep down that it is over. 

A saving grace is the goal Alexia manages to get, you are probably the loudest person in the entire stadium, screaming with pride. There is now the return of a small hope that Barcelona can bring it back, that this goal could show them that there is a way to get through Lyon and win. 

The second half of football brings you nothing but displeasure, annoyance and despair. It seems absolutely clear to everyone but the referees that Lyon are doing everything in their power to let time waste away, which would be fine if they were not doing it in unsportsmanlike ways.

You still hold some hope that Barcelona could come back to tie up the scores and force extra time, but as the time ticks on that hope dwindles. And as the 7 excruciating minutes of injury time begin, tears begin to well in your eyes as you finally accept that it is over and what that means for the team. 

The final whistle blows, all hope is lost and the tears that were threatening to fall before flow down your cheeks, you feel horrible for Alexia, already knowing just how hard she is going to take this defeat. 

Alba is the first of Alexia’s family to notice you crying, usually she would immediately be teasing you for the fact that you cry over everything but at the sight she feels her heart break. She quickly pulls you into a tight hug rubbing her hands up and down your back. 

“She’s strong (Y/N), it’ll all be okay” she speaks attempting to calm you all while looking out towards the field seeing Alexia flat on her back sobbing inconsolably. 

You wipe your eyes quickly, not wanting your emotions to overshadow those of the team or more importantly Alexia’s. You look up towards the field, Alba attempts to move your head back towards her body so you can’t see Alexia but your eyes find her immediately, your tears falling once more as you see just how much this loss has broken her.  

You continue to watch on sadly at Alexia’s broken stature. The tears just don’t stop coming and you wish that you were able to just walk over and comfort her, hating the sight of her so broken right in front of you while you are able to do nothing but watch on. 

After the medal ceremony and media duties Alexia is finally able to make her way over to you although she doesn’t particularly want to, she feels like she has let everyone down, especially her family. 

“Baby” you speak carefully, not wanting to say anything that will make her even more upset than she already is. 

She looks up at you immediately, noticing the tear tracks that have flowed down your cheeks and ruined your makeup, “you’ve been crying” she states softly although it seems like more of a question as she really hopes that you hadn’t been disappointed in the result procured. 

“Don’t worry about that” you speak just as softly, grabbing her face in your hands and kissing her forehead sweetly. 

“I’m sorry I wasn’t good enough” she casts her eyes to the ground and barely whispers, only speaking loud enough for you to hear her words, not wanting anyone else to be aware of how ashamed she is. 

“No!” you speak firmly, making her look up at you immediately, not expecting the harsh tone, “the loss is not on you Alexia, there were 10 other people on that field with you at any one time, there was countless staff and other players, it was a team effort and just because you are the captain it does not mean that you are to blame. There were 11 other players plotting your demise, fighting to stop you and toying with the game. You are an incredible athlete and person, I know it hurts now but you Miss Putellas are destined for so much more greatness than you have already achieved and myself and everyone else are nothing but endlessly proud of everything you have done and will continue to do” 

Tears fall freely down Alexia’s cheeks at your words, and while they can’t exactly fix all the emotions she is currently feeling they do aid in assuring her that no one is disappointed in her, which is what she had been most afraid of. 

“I love you so much (Y/N/N)” Alexia sighs, resting her forehead gently against yours, taking in the comfort she feels being so close to you. 

“I love you so much more Ale, I am so proud of you, forever” you smile. 

“And always?” she asks, a small smile tugging at her lips for the first time this evening. 

“And always” you confirm, wrapping your arms around the back of her neck pulling her in for a sweet kiss.

So…I mentioned to my friends that I had a story that was eating my brain a few weeks back, but then never showed them anything because, well, I wasn’t entirely too sure if they would actually be interested in seeing the designs, and then it stopped eating my brain, and I just sat on the designs for a minute.  But today I decided, screw it – I do really like the designs, and the story is interesting, and shockingly, I do have a name for the story – The Hero’s Party.

Which, I suppose given the title, you can probably guess who these characters are, in a sense, lol.

 Eileen – the voice character, Eileen is a stupidly low level daughter of an inn keeper.  Thanks to her ridiculously low level, she’s pretty much ignored/abused by her family, who view her as absolutely worthless.  Despite this, she’s a generally friendly and helpful girl who is observant and prefers to stay in the shadows.  She ends up being forced to go on a quest for her sister, who’s either sick or cursed, when she happens upon the Hero’s Party.  She initially accidentally approaches them because she’s being harassed, but then accidentally gets trapped in a dungeon with them a bit later.  As a result, despite her level, the Hero requests that she join them, and she does, because she knows she’d have a better chance of getting that item while traveling with the Party.  She mostly just helps out with mundane things – cooking, laundry, mending clothes, that sort of thing, since she’s not useful otherwise.  She ends up falling for the Hero (not surprisingly), but feels guilty about it because she feels like she’s just using them, as well as the fact that she doesn’t really fit in.

Kallum – the Hero, who happens to have a ridiculously high level, on top of having holy powers.  He is, for a lack of a better term, an absolute Boy Scout, believing in honor and justice above everything else.  He and his party are traveling around clearing dungeons before they become a problem.  Unknown to Eileen, he fell in love with her at first sight upon seeing her at the inn they were staying at, and uses dungeon experience as an excuse to get her to travel with them.  He becomes highly protective of her, not really caring that she has no magic level.  He enjoys watching her wonder over her new experiences, which had become mundane for him.    He is also using Eileen a bit, since having her around tends to make potential suitors back off.

Artemisia – a foreigner, she came to the kingdom for the challenge, since her kingdom is full of warrior-types who have explored a lot of the dungeons already.  She ends us joining the Party mostly just for the hell of it, since it seemed more interesting to travel in a group, and she was surprised at how out matched she was in this kingdom, despite having a somewhat high level.  Prior to Eileen joining, she was the weakest member, but it was by an insignificant amount.  She’s actually he one who ‘rescues’ Eileen in their first encounter, because she hates seeing woman harassed.  She pretty much befriends Eileen almost immediately, and likes to joke about making Eileen fall in love with her, despite knowing the mutual attraction between Eileen and Kallum.

Eli – an elf mage, he’s actually the youngest member of the Party, as well as the newest until Eileen showed up.  His magic mostly involved elemental magic, and he joined the Party because he felt like he wasn’t be challenged enough at the Tower he was training at.  He’s the only one who doesn’t trust Eileen at first, partially due to his crush on Kallum, but also because they know nothing about her.  He’s worried she’s there to take advantage of the Party in a way more nefarious way than she actually us, although he does eventually warm up to her and feeling just as protective of her as everyone else, viewing her as a member of the family without really realizing it.  He complains a lot, but no one really takes offense of it.

Gwendolyn – a witch, specializing in healing magic.  She mostly stays in the shadows, preferring not to draw attention to herself, thanks partially to the fact the witches are still somewhat mistrusted in the kingdom.  She wants to use her powers to help people, though, which is why she’s a part of the Party.  She was the third to join after Kallum simply asked her to after their initially encounter, and she agreed because no one wanted her before.  She, like Artemisia, is quick to accept and befriend Eileen when she joins, and is fairly instrumental in her survival.  Eileen basically gives her purpose as a healer, since her low level means that she’s injured far more often.  For the most part, she seems stoic, and she loves ribbing Eli for his magic use, since she’s the more powerful magic user.

Xander – Kallum’s best friend and a partial beastman.  The two of the grew up in the same village, where Xander was ostracized for having beastman blood.  While his father was a result of rape, his mother did sincerely fall in love with his father and the two of the settled a little ways outside of the village.  The other kids were told Xander was dangerous, but Kallum recognized that Xander just needed an outlet to hit things, since Xander isn’t really violent by nature.  He took him a quest of sorts when they were about seven, which turned into an experience neither of them expected, and they ended up bonding because of it.  Xander is incredibly loyal to Kallum as a result, and instantly accepts Eileen once he realizes that Kallum in is love with her, no questions asked.

The next set of designs aren’t of anyone important, per say, but I wanted to design them.

Charlotte – a princess of the kingdom, she’s obsessed with the idea of marrying Kallum, and bugs her father to try to force him to accept, although he refuses every time.  She dislikes Eileen after their initial meeting, but Eileen is the one who points out that Charlotte loves the idea of Kallum, and not Kallum himself.  Rather than being upset at her, Charlotte realizes that she’s correct, and backs off immediately while also developing a close friendship with Eileen as a result, accidentally allowing her to have the backing of the royal family.

Alicia – Eileen’s younger sister, she was born with a higher than average level, and thus was doting and spoiled despite the fact that it’s still technically a low level.  It was just the highest in the village, so everyone thinks that she’s someone special.  She pretty much makes Eileen’s life a living hell, and forces Eileen on the quest to cure her simply because she didn’t want to leave, despite the fact that she’s better equipped to go off adventuring.  She’s pretty much a royal bitch, demanding literally everything that Eileen has for herself.  She becomes obsessed with Kallum after seeing him at their inn in the latter half of the story, and makes it her mission to get her parents to force him to marry her (again, thinking that she’s something special because of her level).

The weird thing about these two is that I had initially planned on Charlotte’s design being for Alicia, with the idea that she wears clothes above her class because she’s spoiled and all, but I liked the design too much, lol.  And it seemed perfect for the princess character I had thought up to befriend Eileen at some point.  So…there you go.

I did come up with names for each of the characters pretty much instantly, except for Xander, who took a couple of tries to figure out his name.  He was supposed to be more brutish, but I can’t really draw that, but what I came up with works really well.  All the designs work really well for each of the characters.

I don’t really have a plot beyond the whole Eileen on a quest and meets us with the Party and joins them, and the trouble they get into because Kallum simply cannot say no to someone claiming to need help, but eh.  I question if this would be a serious story for me or not, but it’s fun to think of scenes from time to time.  And look at pretty designs.  :D

“All right Eli, I think that should be enough for today. Well done, you’ve improved since last time. I’ll look forward to the next time we meet.” Junjie said.

The Shane Gang were in the training room of their hideout, joined by Junjie. Eli had always gotten along with slugs and seemed to have a natural talent for befriending them. However, his connection to his slugs still had work to do.

Which was why Junjie had been showing him how to meditate, as proper focus and calmness were assets in successfully implementing Slug Fu. The other members joined in as well, since meditation had other benefits aside from aiding in Slug Fu.

“Thank you, sensei,” joked Eli.

Junjie blushed a little, trying his best to hide it and gaining a smirk from the Shane in response. ‘Sensei’ was a term that Junjie had only used for his elders and teacher before he had been taken over by the dark slug, being called it was still something he had to get used to.

“Um, guys? You might want to save the goodbyes for later,” said Trixie as she pointed to a nearby window.

Outside it had become quite dark due to the clouds, thunder could be faintly heard and it looked like it would start pouring soon.

“It’s probably best if you spend the night with us, Junjie,” suggested Kord.

“Thank you but I wouldn’t want to intrude,” replied Junjie.

“Nonsense, how could Pronto show his face if he wasn’t hospitable to the eastern champion.”

“Well…if it’s alright with everyone, then I’d be happy to stay...

41. Both would take theirs off and it would be a battle of wills to see who would win. Ultimately, Gabriel would begrudgingly take Trystan’s jacket and throw their’s at Trystan and they’d end up at square one. Kidding. Kinda. This idea just popped in my head when I read the question lol but honestly if either were cold the other would give up their jacket for them.

51. Trystan is definitely soft unassuming touches that go mostly unnoticed by everyone else. Gabriel would cut his hand off if he tried anything more public. Gabriel is definitely eye contact. They ain’t one to touch in public and make a show of that shit but they would behind doors but while in public it would be all the eyes and small smiles.

Troy x Saeed

14. So Saeed is definitely more like Eli in personality but with an even more stubborn streak to him. He butts heads with Troy frequently but at the end of the day they always agree to not go to bed without talking any unresolved issues through. Saeed has picked up more of Troy’s humor just being with him in a more intimate manner, recognizing that he needs that for himself. Plus he likes his smile, just don’t tell Troy that. I’ve got a whole headcanon about how Saeed actually is with Eli (and only fools around with Troy) for the longest while after canon but ultimately Eli and Saeed recognize they are too similar and not actually all that good for each other.

43. I think both would but Saeed would do it without hesitation. He’d do it without hesitation for anyone. Family, friend, stranger, enemy.

Ethan x Merida

10. Merida would take him out (her treat since she asked him) to this little hole in the wall ramen place that seats 20 and serves the best ramen made by the sweetest immigrant family that she befriended in the early days of moving to Boston.The menu is small, curated bowls, that are served with water or a light ale to drink. No other choices are recommended by the owners despite having other drink options. They do in fact judge Ethan for ordering wine. (This is my head canon mostly because that’s my ideal date at this little place near me.)

30. Merida would pick a floral shirt to go with a fitted suit. One, because she likes the look. Two, because Ethan needs more colors and patterns in his wardrobe. Three, because he would protest (in fun but ultimately be okay with it, he agreed to dressing each other after all) and that would bring her joy.

Warren-Eli/ Samuel relationship and Eli is at Hostel what Sinu was for Big deal

Regarding the last chapters of Lookism, I was still curious about the dynamic of Eli-Warren and Samuel relationship.

I have already made a comment about how Eli and Samuel past was similar concerning domestic abuses and family and how it affected theirs lives. It also came to my mind that both Eli and Samuel share a deep self hatred for themselves.

(How dare they mistreated them 😡😡)

There is the symbolic change of hair of Eli, looking the same as 3 years ago, meaning the regression of himself.

After the tragedy of Hostel, Eli run away with Yenna and managed to take care of her, while working and studying. He was clearly loved and respected by everyone in the school and didn’t cause any problems. He was also befriending Crystal who cheered him up about being a responsible father for Yenna. In a way, his life and guilt were improving… if it wasn’t for the 4 crews he didn’t even want to be part of.

I was a bit skeptical about Samuel reaction when Eli was introduced as the 5th affiliate.. We can think it is about his inferiority complex and Gun’s favouritism for Eli - which is right for a part - but it can also be a surprise about how Eli is acting cold, bolt and clearly aggressive, when as say above, Eli was improving himself.

To me, the (deep) main theme of this arc is “sacrifice for family”.

In chap 406, Samuel said something interesting: “it is romance when you do it, but it is adultery when someone do it to you”.

And when I read ✨ Romance ✨, I think about the absolute romantic boi : Sinu.

And when you think about it, Sinu and Eli did the same thing: they sold themselves to the genius of dumbass aka Eugene in order to save theirs families. But if it something that Samuel knows, it is how Sinu was treated and became while being in the fight ring. And I personally think he cared at least a little for Sinu (otherwise, why even go see him) and for Big Deal (why would he join big deal?).

Thus, in addition to having similar childhood, they also have a history of someone sacrificing themselves for the sake of others. And both of them was coerced by Gun and Sinu. And I think it could be the reason why Samuel felt so disgusted by Eli’s plan: Eli becoming Gun, the person who destroyed so much lives, including Big Deal and Hostel.

And I find it pretty interesting, because they could actually become allies. I mean Samuel knows how destructive it is to be in Eli’s place, he saw it with Sinu, and thus, they share a similar history. I also admit that the scene in the car reminded me the scene with goo and Logan.

And yes Samuel is emotionally dumb so of course he can’t communicate without picking a fight and being harsh, which is more stupid since clearly Eli is not in the mood for that.

Samuel needs closure with Gun/Dad and Eli needs to know how much he is being manipulated and guilt tripped.

Clearly, sending Samuel overseeing Eli Was the worst idea from Eugene.

announcement!

hello friends!

this has been a long time coming, honestly. i'm no longer going to update this blog, and i'd like to talk about why, and i'd like to thank a couple of people.

i started writing and posting over a year ago. i did that because i was extremely lonely. back then i didn't have any diagnosis on "what was wrong with me", a question i used to wonder daily. i do now, and i'm being treated for them.

the loneliness slowly eased, and med school picked up, and real life slowly took over all the time i'd spend online and writing. i finished my final paper and got a shining 9.9 out of 10, which is amazing. my partner is one of the most incredible people i know, and supports me daily. i have friends, now, which is... it makes me wanna cry, honestly.

my interest in writing is still there, but i have other priorities now. i am sad about having to let this go, but i think it's time.

to quote my favorite foreword (by neil gaiman and terry pratchett), "it's been fun. and it continues."

i'd like to thank meirin, rin, muji, polaris, ely, reida and especially 🍰 anon: thank you for easing my loneliness, and for befriending me. i've had a blast! and i hope to keep in touch with you, honestly. i love you guys.

and thank you to everyone who followed this blog or interacted with me in one way or another. and i'm sorry to those who were waiting for the ending of "the mess we made" - it was something i wrote on my lowest point, and i can no longer connect with it.

Major Spoilers under the cut.

Ok. This series is my ATYD. Maybe that’s controversial, but its the truth. Nothing Left is a series that chronicles the marauders years at hogwarts complete with a prologue, and a few epilogues after the main series. The final word count clocks in at 808,811 words. For reference, atyd is 526,969 words. So it’s definitely really freaking long.

Now -the characters

The core four marauders are there obviously, but Lily, Regulus, the girls, Effie and Fleamont, as well as some OCs are all major players in this fic. It is not solely the four marauders.

It’s important to note that in fics, that are long and chronicle the marauders at Hogwarts, sometimes they can fall into the trap of isolation. As in, marauders interactions with others outside the circle are limited/nil and or when they do interact with others or explore other friendships, theyre all together. Thats not the case here. James, Sirius, Peter, and Remus ARE quite codependent (sirius and james are the definition of co dependent lmao) but they are friends with other people and have different dynamics and personal struggles. They exist outside of each other is what im getting at.

I couldn’t begin to fully summarize all of the friendship dynamics in this fic because they’re so big and fleshed out but id like to highlight a few that i especially liked :

Lily and Remus. Remus is the first marauder that Lily warms up to, and the first she befriends. She tells him she loves him, and goes to bat against everyone, even Snape, for him. Snape is perhaps Lily’s biggest foil in-terms of relationships, and the fact that from the BEGINNING she threatened to hurt and even kill Severus if he hurt Remus, to me says alot. Lily and Remus are platonic soulmates. They confide in each other, challenge each other, and love and trust each other. I love their friendship in this fic

James and Sirius. OBVIOUSLY! They are insane. When i say they bring out the worst in each other i mean it. They both make the other more insane. But they couldn’t live without one another and its clear from the moment they met. Sirius and James are complicated. They kiss and sleep in each others beds, and at times it seems like they want to crawl into one another’s skin. They are the definition of co dependent. They have ups and downs and after the prank, they both fell apart. James was beyond furious at Sirius and stayed that way for months even after Remus had forgiven him. It tore them up, and they both fell into a deep depression and identity crisis with out the other and it was really heartbreaking to read. I love them tho.

Eli Wood and James. Idk if eli is canon? Either way. Eli is the first quidditch captain that James has at Hogwarts. And in alot of ways Eli serves as the backbone of James’s character. James absolutely worships Eli from the moment they meet. And after he graduates, Ei becomes an Auror. With James’s mom and dad working in and with the DMLE james happens to be there after a raid by the aurors gone wrong. James watches Eli’s dead body collapse on the floor of st mungos after being apparated back. This is the moment that shapes him. James carries Elis memory with him into adulthood, and never quite gets over him romantically. Eli is the raw side of James’s bleeding heart and i think it was beautiful.

Ok i have to talk about Lily. This lily is not canon lily and thats what i love about her. From day one, with her massive ginger curls, Lily is a spitfire. She values friendship and trust and loyalty, which is why she stays with Severus for so long. Lily is loud and academic and a bit of a bitch but shes 11 when we meet her. Who isnt a prick at 11 years old?? Lily is naturally wound so tight that its only when she starts to Really hang out with the marauders, do her walls come down and she relaxes. Lily deals woth so much blood purity racism, and i loved reading her struggle with it, as she tries to decide between forgiveness or revenge, kindness or remembering the crime. Her Arc with Snape is huge and involves blood racism.

This Lily likes crystals and fags (this word is used ALOT for cigarettes, like so much) and the beatles, and she is NOT James potters little wife and she is not something to be fought over. She gets tattoos and does coke with Sirius, and fights bullies and absolutely drags James Potter over the rocks. And i love her.

Ok this is getting really long so a bulleted list of things i liked!

- James and Professor McG. She cares for him like a second mother and i teared up reading them

- Remus and the big bad lycanthropy. Remus struggles alot in this fic, and theres alot of aspects to it but i will say i appreciated how the author included him using a crutch and having limited mobility. I thought that was very realistic.

- effie and fleamont. They were very 3 dimensional and their love for James and Sirius was tangible. I sobbed when they died. I liked how James had his struggles with them and they weren’t just plot perfect parents. They struggled but they TRIED. They loved much and were loved much

Regulus. He is an older sister in a 15 year olds body. The trauma he endures is crazy. Not only does he get punished (tortured) by his parents, Sirius does as well, and Sirius begs him to take away his memory, so now regulus carries the burden alone. His whole arc was heartbreaking but it came around on the end.

Ok im done for now. This was a massive fic and i wish i knew who the author was. But i highly recommend it.

Meliodas: Ah shit. Not again

After the TC got revived they quickly pick up Mel's behaviour especially Galand, pointing it out how Mel seems tired and unintenionaly very slow when fighting (and reaction) him which Mel just respond to focusing on killing him if that was his goal.

When Galand fought Mel again, he was even more brutal than Canon because he was grumpy and very mad at him for attacking him and his friends in camelot that some of the commandments needs to step in so Mel won't kill him.

In the battle of Mel and commandments. Mel was even more brutal than he fought Galand. He even gave them pernamented injuries and almost killed them (which took the TC to recover months and they attack prior weeks before Mel's revival) because of it. But they did have advantages when Mel sometimes slowed down and clutched his head in pain, which kinda concern the TC.

Zeldris even ask if he was alright in the middle of the battle which Mel just nodded not saying anything, wasting no time and attacked him.

Mel's neglecting became even worse than before when the commandments got revived. The sins sometimes saw him pacing in his room in the middle of the night looking nervously while Eli just sleeps on the bed unaware what is going on

Mel barely even talks anymore, when time he does when he is complaining something, ask him and when they are planning.

Since the sins knows he is a demon now. They are even more aware of his habits thanks to King (who knows little) and Merlin (finaly sharing her knowledge). They try to take care of him and lead him to the right path.

Watching TC Au:

After the TC got revived instead of attacking they offered the sins to help Mel which the sins hesitated at first but umm... OK!

Meliodas try and fail to stay away from the TC as possible. He doesn't want there care all! And he was perfectly fine! Thank you very much!

The sins are fully aware of Mel's habits so they try and stop him most of the time

honestly, I can see Meliodas completely overreacting to the sins and TC trying to take care of him against his will and deciding that, since there's no war to fight and Elis curse hadn't activated yet, he'll hide away from everyone until this weird phase has blown over. (But it will never blow over. Everyone will turn over every single rock in the entire kingdom to find him and get him to take a damn nap.)

On the other hand, I can also see Meliodas using this situation to break his and Elis curse. He'll let them take care of him, but ONLY if they help him break the curse. He thinks he's being slick and tricking them into helping him while he himself will just pretend to get better, ultimately resulting in him being the sole winner in the situation. (He is very tired.)

When Mel and the TC were fighting, they saw a glimpse of what the Meliodas 3000 years ago could've been without his commandment of love, which wouldn't allow him to feel any hate whatsoever (which kinda extended to other emotions, ending with Meliodas having either no or very limited emotional range and intelligence). And if it weren't for the fact that he was like this because of his own negligence of himself, he probably would've succeeded in killing them.

When the Sins catch Mel pacing in the room, they try and talk to him, but one death glare from their sleep deprived captain is enough to shut them up (seriously, if looks could kill, even Ban would be dead). It's not easy. The only one that he never snaps at, or not as much, is Elizabeth. Eli also tries to get Mel to better his habits, but even she has no success. Meliodas' fear of being hunted and killed for being a demon is still too deeply ingrained in him, and how could it not be after thousands of years of living like this?

Once it's finally revealed that Meliodas is a demon, Kings accusation of Meliodas working with the commandments to take over Britannia hits hard. King reminds Meliodas so much of one of his old friends back in Stigma, who befriended him, not despite being a demon nor because of it, but who didn't care that he was a demon. Meliodas had to seriously resist strangling King right then and there. That, and their relationship was likely never quite the same after, and I can absolutely imagine Meliodas being the sleep-deprived kind of aggressively salty towards King after that.

Regarding his eating habits, Ban can probably trick him into eating an extra portion or two, although it doesn't always succeed, and when it does, Ban earns a slap in the face for it XD

And when Mel isn't pacing at night, he sneaks out for extra training. If he's awake, he might as well do something, right? This intensifies when the TC reawaken, which is noticed by the Sins (who at first do not yet know who the commandments are and that they're back) and they're even more worried than they were before.

That last paragraph just gave me the idea that the TC could be approaching the Sins first without Meliodas knowing, and have the Sins get to know them a little before they know that they're supposed to be enemies. The Sins are suspicious, but when they offer to help their captain, they are ready to listen, at least to a certain extent.
