Disney Television Animation Sets Creative Team For “Ariel” A New Preschool Animated Series Inspired By Halee Bailey’s The Little Mermaid.

Disney Branded Television has greenlit a new animated series for preschoolers, “Disney Junior’s Ariel,” inspired by the beloved story of “The Little Mermaid.” The announcement was made today by Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, during the Annecy International Film Festival in Annecy, France.

While making the announcement, Davis said, “For more than 30 years, the story of ‘The Little Mermaid’ has been beloved by audiences all over the world. It brings me so much joy to be able to introduce our new Disney Junior version of Ariel to preschoolers everywhere.”

Ariel follows a young Ariel and features some fan-favorite characters, including King Triton, Ursula, Sebastian and Flounder, as well as exciting new additions. “Disney Junior’s Ariel” is set to debut on Disney platforms worldwide in 2024.

Set in the fantastical Caribbean-inspired underwater kingdom of Atlantica, the series follows Ariel as she embarks on fun-filled, action-packed mermaid adventures with her friends. Driven by a deep and unending curiosity about the world around her, Ariel discovers land treasures, like a big floppy hat, squeaky rubber ducky and whisk, that she collects and keeps safe in her crystal cavern. Sometimes, Ariel uses the treasures to help solve problems. With each discovery, Ariel is filled with joy, and her mermaid tail, which changes colors depending on her emotions, lights up and shimmers.

“Disney Junior’s Ariel” is executive produced by Lynne Southerland (Dreamworks Animation’s “The Road To El Dorado”). Norma P. Sepulveda (“Elena of Avalor”) and Keith Wagner (“TrollsTopia”) are the story editors. Ezra Edmond (“Disney+ Draw Me a Story”) is producer. Kuni Tomita Bowen (“Dora the Explorer”) is supervising director, and Chrystin Garland (20th Television Animation’s “Solar Opposites”) is art director. The series is produced by Wild Canary in association with Disney Television Animation for Disney Junior.

Full of charm, big ideas and a powerful voice, “Disney Junior’s Ariel” is coming into her own, learning how to discover and appreciate the world around her and use her voice to inspire others.Throughout the series, the multicultural diversity of the Caribbean is highlighted through music, food, festivals, fashion, language and folklore. Comic: the last one I read was Ловя лунный свет (Catching moonlight) by Nushanchel. It's amazing though it's a russian comic book which I bought exclusively on an art market and I doubt any foreign ppl can check it out. It's amazing though and absolutely stunning art and watercolor

Also last time I went to the movies with my friend we watched Dungeons and Dragons! Not fantastic but fun! John Wick 4 was much more my taste ':)

The Last of Us!! AMAZING joel and ellie are my babies and i loved them sooo much more than original game's version. Fantastic adaptation!

And me and gf currently (re) watching Elena: Princess of Avalor. Very fun disney cartoon series about Mexican princess :3 Mel is working as my consultant on Mexican accuracy lmao

I'm also a very long-lasting fan of Miraculous Ladybug and watching season 5 currently. Soooooo good jesus, I'm having SO much fun watching it and each ep is such a boost for me ahah. Story is real good too, it get better and better with each season

Village of Miracles event outfits for Morrigan are finished! I was having a lot of fun looking into the concept art for Encanto as well as looking at other people’s OC’s for outfit inspirations that I gave Morrigan two outfits 🫣

Truth be told, there was no deeper meaning behind the dress being purple and the shirt and pants fit being green. Morrigan’s normal outfits are typically purple (that’s like their normal associated colour scheme) so I wanted to play into that, but also since they’re a Daisomnia student I felt like I should add green somewhere. I was worried about having too many colours in one outfit, and I just generally couldn’t decide originally on what outfit style I wanted to give Morrigan, so I compromised! Morrigan will wear whatever as long as it’s comfortable so they don’t have a preference over dresses or pants.

More of my thought process is under the cut! (I don’t want to make yall have to scroll through a long post on your feeds 😅)

I mentioned this in the RSA Outfit post, but Morgana from Sofia the First wears a mostly purple dress. I think that’s why I was drawn to making Morrigan’s event outfit purple initially. I used Mirabel’s concept outfit as a reference because I liked the look of the scarf wrapped around her waist. I also used Elena’s normal dress from Elena of Avalor as a reference because her kingdom is also primarily inspired by various Latin American countries. I really was just looking at the top, over the shoulder ruffle on her dress because I liked the look of it.

I primarily used the purples I already had swatched for Morrigan’s RSA uniform and then adjust them accordingly. Since Raven feathers are a one of Morrigan’s main symbols I added them as a pattern to the hip scarf. I also added little hand mirrors to the trim of their dress as a little nod back to their personal use of the magic mirrors.

For the more “masculine” outfit I chose to use a more green colour palette as a call back to their status as a Daisomnia student. I mainly used Bruno’s colour palette from the concept colour swatch image. However, I lightened the colour of Julieta’s lightest teal/aqua blue colour swatch for Morrigan’s shirt; I thought it would look better next to the darker greens. I also added the feather motif to the cuffs of the shirt sleeves just as a little detail.

It took me a while to figure out if I wanted to give Morrigan some kind of vest or ruana, but I eventually landed on the ruana after trying both options. I think Morrigan would like the looseness of a ruana. I used Camilo’s concept art as my main reference, though I tried to keep it relatively simple design wise similar to Bruno’s. Since I put the Raven feathers on the cuffs of their shirts, I added the mirror motif to the light stripes on the ruana.

For both outfits I wanted to add in Morgana’s red scarf without just sticking a scarf on Morrigan; the red is meant to be an accent colour to the purple/green palette. So, I gave Morrigan a red headscarf/bandana and their shoes in both outfits are red/red toned.

The only other change I made to Morrigan’s design for this fan event was I switched out the long ponytail for a braid. Idk I thought it would look good with the rest of the outfits.

I’m currently working on fleshing out this au/event idea so be on the look out for a future post on it! In the meantime my asks are always open so feel free to ask me any questions! I’ll try to answer as best I can with what I have figured out rn!

What are your hottest cartoon takes?

Okay, here we go:

-The cartoon fandom should watch more shows that just Amphibia and The Owl House. (Yes, they are good shows, but there are plenty others worth of watching). -Some Cartoon Networks shows before the HBO Max merger whole thing were decent to good. You people are just mean. (Craig of the Creek is pretty good, try checking it out). -The reason people think shows only have the ¨positive girl protagonist¨ is because they mainly watch Disney TVA shows. This doesn't happen the same way with CN shows. - Not sure if it's a ¨hot take¨ but Elliott from Earth's treatment from the network is one of the worst things i have in seen in modern animation shows. -More animation fans should give a try to slice of life comedy shows. Some of them are pretty good. -More people should give a try to Disney Junior shows. A few of them are great. - I think Elena of Avalor and, to a certain extent, Sofia The First are executed better than Amphibia and The Owl House. - Excessive shipping in cartoon fandoms has ruined the way people interact with the medium. -Tired of seeing the same evil overlord muscular dude as main antagonist in action shows. Please give them some variety. -In addition to the previous point, there should be more variety to antagonists than ¨evil overlord¨ and ¨Sympathetic antagonist that gets redemmed at the end¨. Not that i dislike these, what i'm saying it is that there should other ways to write an antagonist. -Why aren't more people talking about Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur series? It looks different from most of shows that Disney TVA has done in the lastest years. Plus, it has fantastic animation. - Penn Zero: Part Time Hero is an underrated series. Same goes to Randy Cunningham. - Unlike many people, i didn't fully get into Star vs TFOE until the second season. In fact, i do find Season 1 mediocre in some ways. Some episodes were a hit or miss. I liked the whole development they were doing in Season 2 and part of Season 3. Then the series turned into a weird shipping fanfic. - I don't fully got into Pixar's Up to be honest? Excellent film though. -I do prefer the new age of Pixar trying to be experimental rather than doing a sequel/prequel film for the 10th time even if the results are just decent. (Why are they making Inside Out 2 again?) - A Bug's Life is an underrated pixar film. -I do like Disney and Pixar doing the intergenerational trauma in their latest films. Yes, i do find it more interesting and complex than bad guy number #345 unless i find said character entertaining. However, i don't think they should do this theme in more than 2-3 films. -About Dreamworks, i think The Croods is an underrated film. The sequel is also decent. -Spies in Disguise is an excellent film and it suprises me that more people don't talk about it. It is a film that manages to be silly while tackling a very serious topic. -People think that ¨adult animation is all the same¨ because they don't watch enough adult animation shows. We are living in boom moment for that part of the industry and many are missing on it. Also, i think this is because some of these shows are on streaming services and not everyone is able to access those. -Final Space was a great show that plenty called it ¨another generic bad adult show¨ because of the art style and only gave a fuck about the series when it got cancelled. - Ballmastrz 9009 is genuinely a funny show with good characters and great animation. I don't get why it got overlooked by the general public.

The twist is that a girl named Lids ( me) is magical and can bring her imagination to life so after Lids was reunited with an Elena of Avalor blanket she watch’s Elena’s show and so enough she meets all of the people in Avalor. I’m torn about Primos...

(Post about *THAT* upcoming Disney show again, that's not even out yet, but people are already angry about it. Probably the last time I'll talk about this show before it comes out):

I'm honestly torn about Primos... Part of me is curious about it, but the other part of me wants to stay away from it, considering the outrage it caused. I'm the kind of guy, who's willing to give new things a chance, and I really want to give this show a shot once it does come out, but I also kind of want to avoid it.

My guess is that the crew will actually acknowledge the mistakes in Primos and fix them before the show comes out,

Or, considering how uppity the voice actress was in her response video and said that she didn't care, they'll just probably leave the show like it is, and it will get cancelled after like 10 episodes...

I mean, after movies like Coco and Encanto, and shows like Elena of Avalor, Amphibia, The Owl House and The Ghost and Molly McGee, Disney wouldn't just do a 180 and deliberately piss off millions of people like that... would they? (Okay, Amphibia and TGAMM are about people or Thai heritage, but still)

I'm torn about Primos. I really am. I'm also hesitant about drawing fan-art of the Luna-lookalike rocker girl, the fat goth girl and the Lisa-lookalike nerd girl...

P.S. I admit it: I only know a few words in Spanish, but if "Gordita" and "Cuquita" mean nasty things in Spanish, I would hate to find out what "Lotlot" (the goth girl's name) actually means...

Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Unveils Time For Disney Junior ShowCase on Disney Junior FunFest.

We are one few hours away from Disney Junior Fun Fest and early today  Disney General Entertainment Content PR Website unveiled the schedule of Disney Junior Fun Fest as it’s TV-Y7 FV conterpart the event will have a parade, concerts,events based on Disney Junior shows like drawings and making cupcakes.

The major event will be “Disney Junior  Showcase Presentation” this event will showcase previews of concept art and first look footage of upcoming Disney Junior shows in the upcoming months and 2023 as well announcements of new Disney Junior shows, the event will be at 11:30AM.

Held at Disney California Adventure park in Anaheim, California, the one-day event will include sneak peeks at upcoming Disney Junior series, special announcements, surprise appearances, a “Doc McStuffins” stage show highlighting 10 years of the beloved series, and an “Alice’s Wonderland Bakery Unbirthday Party,” a hands-on cupcake decorating course inspired by the new Disney Junior series that is also being offered for guests throughout Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival from March 4 through April 26.

The event will kick off in the morning with a cavalcade of beloved Disney Junior characters welcoming fans and making their way through the park. Throughout the day, there will be main stage attractions with fun games, trivia and music to keep preschoolers and their families singing and dancing together.
