Hello again! Don't apologize for that, I'm happy to answer your asks. Here are my HCs:

- Orion was an engineering apprentice and Marina's trainee. Though their interactions were almost always work-related, they saw her as a bit of an older sister figure.

- They always came across as a "brains-over-brawn" kind of person to me, so they definitely excelled in mechanics over combat. And excel, they did! They probably would’ve been considered a prodigy if they weren't so wimpy. They're more agile than they look, though.

- They especially loved working on Squee-Gs and even kept one as a pet of sorts.

- They were always rather solitary, with a lot of their peers considering them weird for their excessive interest in niche old media and human technology.

- Orion would salvage used electronics in their free time and started composing chiptune music with a worn-out Gameboy. While messing around with a radio, they ended up hearing a snippet of Calamari Inkantation (specifically the Calamari County version). They spent a few days thinking about it before finally deciding to desert the army and get out of the domes.

- Due to their shyness, it took them a long time to get back in touch with Marina once Off the Hook became popular. The first time they talked on the surface was at the mall, and it was completely unplanned.

- Noiji was the one who taught them about most of Inkling society. He also taught them how to play with a guitar.

- A part of them misses the structured routine of the Octarian army, and they regret leaving their family behind. But they're still much happier with Inkopolis and the freedom it offers.

(I thought I would get stumped on this since I didn't spend as much time thinking about Octarian army Orion, but then I started working on this after uni and just... boom, inspiration.)

In 2021 everyone was rightly scandalized and enraged when it was revealed that Bobby Kotick ( Activision-Blizzard's CEO and one of the biggest scumbags in the world) received a $200 million bonus after laying off around 240 employees at ABK ( Source: Yahoo News) Now your next question should be: How much money will the CEO and executives at Epic (or any other AAA studio or company doing massive lay offs this year like the Embracer Group, Electronics Arts) will receive and why are they receiving said bonuses if their mistakes have led to 830 employees being laid off.

And of course most people won't care, much like when it was revealed that there was a super toxic and chauvinistic environment in Activision Blizzard that led to many women being rampantly sexually harrased and even on of them taking her own life.

Or the severe crunch that employees at CD Project Red had to endure with Cyperpunk 2077 (even after they were promised there wasn't going to be cruel crunch like they had to endure with The Witcher 3)

As long as consumers can play their game sadly they won't care and that massively sucks! There won't be any effective change in how employees are treated at these big corporations if consumers don't vote with their wallets and advocate for the workforce's well being.

1.oh i see that am not only one that is scared of EH shippers. i deleted my eremika blog because of them. It was small blog with not much followers. From the moment Donald Trump called Hillary Clinton as ‘Such a nasty woman’, #NastyWoman trended across social media, accounting for thousands upon thousands of references on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, from the moment Harvey Weinstein has been accused of Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie Rose McGowan and others, #MeToo once again rises strong. 

Never before had everything been exploded that much strong and fast. 

We’ve seen a significant change in hashtags on Twitter, whose purpose, at first, was purely to sort out information, turning into a “user-created metadiscourse convention” (Brock 2012, p. 534) that brings efficiency and efficacy, enabling people to provide context, meaning, and emotion in their tweets. Just my thinking, hashtag is way more than that, it's like the unofficial orthodox, on behalf of strong and weak voices, to spread out an idea, a point of view. And it works, no doubt! Feminist voices have also been made clearer thanks to the popularity and effectiveness of hashtags.            

Problems arise. Like how topics about ‘women's periods are no longer something dirty or to be ashamed of’ through the hashtag #HappytoBleed when the Sabarimala temple in India barred all women aged 10 to 50 from entering for fear they will menstruate and pollute the holiness of the template, or like how the awareness of sexual harrasment, is raised through hashtags like #SafeCityIndia, #BoardtheBus, since the, the ideology of victim-blaming (a girl wearing sexy clothes/ getting drunk should accept there’s always a chance of being raped) has gradually become a thorn in humanity's civilization. Thanks to hashtag feminism, women can all unite and pave the way for new change that is more civilzed, more suitable in each era. 

Using social media to increase awareness and stress the need for safer settings for women, on the other hand, has its own set of flaws. Here comes the term we are already familiar with: digital divide. In countries where the affluent and poor are separated by geographical access to the Internet, technology, more than a hashtag, which is out of reach for many people, what they truly want is 'real help'. 

One must concern is as long as the story, event  is able to capture the attention of mainstream media, feminist hashtag initiatives are likely to succeed (Guha 2015). As a result, even a strong hashtag campaign on Twitter may reach just a small number of women who are actually oppressed or do nothing to better their circumstances. #HappyToBleed gained attention, but it did not result in the repeal of the regulation prohibiting women from entering the temple. When compared to established media sources such as newspapers and radio, hashtag feminism has minimal power, particularly in distant places.

The definition of online harrasment

The phenomenon is known by various names: cyberbullying, trolling, flaming, and so on. Some terms are used interchangeably, while others have lost their significance. PEN America favors the phrases online harassment or online abuse to describe the "persistent or severe targeting of a person or group online through destructive actions."

Cyberbullying is a type of online harassment in which a person or group bullies a victim through the use of the Internet and/or other forms of electronic communication. If this seems like cyberstalking to you, you're not mistaken. Both use many of the same techniques to frighten a person. The cyberbully may post derogatory comments, send threatening or degrading messages, make audio or video recordings of someone without their permission, or publish personal information with the intent of humiliating or intimidating them. They, like any bully, enjoy the power that comes from humiliating and belittling another individual. (Michael, 2014)

It is severe because even a single instance of online abuse, such as a death threat or the publication of a home address, can have catastrophic ramifications. Individual incidences of online abuse, such as insults or spam, may not rise to the level of abuse, but a regular drumbeat of events, or a concerted onslaught, does. Email, social networking platforms (such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok), and messaging apps are all used for this phenomenon.

According to a Pew Research Center survey (Duggan, 2014), 22% of those polled experienced less severe kinds of online harassment, such as name calling and being publicly embarrassed. Men are more likely to be targeted than women. Furthermore, 18 percent reported more serious forms of harassment, such as persistent harassment over a lengthy period of time, sexual harassment, physical threats, and stalking. The study discovered:

32 percent of men and 22% of women had been called derogatory names.

24 percent of males and 20% of women have purposefully embarrassed themselves online.

Physical threats have been made to 10% of men and 6% of women.

What to do

Fortunately, digital material frequently leaves a visible trail of proof. Posts are visible to the public, messages can be stored, and everything can be screenshotted. While your immediate reaction may be to delete and dismiss upsetting content, preserving records of the abuse will be critical when attempting to get content removed by social platform firms or if you choose to go to court.

Use screenshots to document and categorize occurrences of harassment in preparation for taking action against the perpetrator (s). If you can also report how the harassment is harming your physical, mental, and financial well-being, justice will be delivered more quickly. Keeping a visual record of potentially harmful images, comments, or messages can also assist you in demonstrating evidence of harm without having to relive painful events. Also keep yourself safe and turn off the computer and go out communicating with your friends.

Anti-Coronavirus Hat (Or the Rootin’ Tootin’ Coronavirus Shootin’ Cowboy Hat): Final Entry

Here I am, at the end of the university year and the deadline of the anti-coronavirus hat which has caused me so much pain and strife. I have made some more adjustments to the code, added the second servo and the slappers which punish those who dare touch their face’s with their rona covered hands. The slappers themselves underwent two itterations, the first being made with 3 cottonbuds which was too long and flimsy. Mk2 was made out of just two cotton buds which slapped the face at a better position and flapped around a lot less.

The changes to the code have been to change the range of detection, in order to bring it in as it was far too wide to begin with, registering movement down to my waist. I have also edited the delays to make it snappier and moved the final delay, which allowed everything to catch up, into the if statement which controls movement of the servos. My thinking is that if its only there for things to catch up, things only need to catch up if they’ve moved. One big issue I hadn’t realised was that if you moved your hand under the hat while it was in its delay, it wouldn’t register and wouldn’t hit you. Now by essentially removing the delay, provided nothing has triggered it in the last loop, it should be a lot snappier at registering hands.

Here are a few photos of the final product. The wires are a bit of a mess, but I think it adds to a kind of cyberpunk aesthetic? Maybe? I dont know, but here it is:

Here is a final circuit diagram:

The circuit diagram looks a lot neater than the final product but the circuit is technically the same, I have just had to double up most of the wires so that they can reach across the entire thing. I have also added a ‘killswitch’ of sorts, which cuts off power to the breadboard that I couldn’t represent in the tinkercad diagram. This allows me to put the hat on without being harrased violently by the slappers which became a bit of a problem.

Evaluation - 

The good: The hat works most of the time. It detects a hand on a face and slaps the user accordingly. I think it looks quite cool, all things considered. It was interesting and fun to make, im really happy with the final product. When I started the project I had literally 0 experience with either Arduino or electronics so I am proud of how far I have come and how much I’ve learned. I would love to continue the project or start a new one, learning more and making cooler stuff.

The bad: It doesn’t work every time. It works most of the time, sure, but not every time. Sometimes it triggers for no reason, sometimes a hand wont trigger it. That is down to me not understanding how the code, or electronics, or parts work. It is also poorly designed in places. The way the sensors are placed means if you scratch your nose dead centre, it wont register. If you want to adjust your glasses, you get slapped. It is also frustratingly simple. The code at the end, is not much more complicated than the first few iterations of it. I gradually made it more complex to try and get it to work, before learning how arduino and electronics work and realising that I need to make it less complex to work. 

The future: Of course the current situation allowed my hat to be created, but it also added quite a lot of limitations. Being unable to experiment with parts without having to buy them and send them back if they weren’t suitable, unlike how I would have been able too at uni, did prevent me from trying out some ideas I had for the project like adding some sort of defence against people coming too close to you, like a small spray of water or speaker. Or perhaps making the hat itself more complicated; maybe instead of slapping you it wipes you with antibacterial wipes? Maybe add a button to turn it on or off, as opposed to just pulling the wire which gives the thing power. To improve the hat itself, would require different parts. I think the fact the sensors use more of a ‘line’ than a cone of detection prevents it from working a lot more than it could, although im not sure if any such product exists. A casing or better setup for the hat would also probably make it work better. I was tempted to cut holes in the hat to make room for parts and wires, but was worried that if I needed to change things around more than a few times the hat would break. A specially designed hat, or maybe 3D printed platform would also help a lot with balancing the parts and making it neater.

so i’ve already done a well recieved text post on some actual facts about takashi shirogane and the entire thing is mostly joking but also completely my headcanons forever

but i figured in honour of season three just kidding i’ve been up all night reading voltron fanfiction havent gotten around to watching S3 yet so here some shiro headcanons that are actually my legit take on his life pre-kerberos

he’s only a partial american citizen. as a teenager, he was a japanese citizen with a school visa to attend the garrison, and after graduating he very easily recieved a work visa, but eventually for conveniences sake reluctantly went for partial citizenship once things started getting serious. he’s not happy about it. he’s in america for the space, he’s not a fan of the country as a whole.

and on the same note, due to being an american and japanese citizen, during the early stages of the kerberos mission set up (like years before launch) the publicity team initially tried to label him as an american astronaut. the second he found out, shiro very firmly demanded that everything related to him be marked with japans flag, not americas, thank you very much.

and again on that note, due to being the sole pilot of the furthest space mission ever, and doing it as a japanese astronaut, shiro met the prime minister of japan once. if there wasnt pictures of him with the prime minister, shiro probably would have convinced himself it wasnt real.

his first language was japanese, obviously. he learned how to read at about three, due to his parents reading to him literally every night, and also him being a genius. he didn’t give the faintest hint of a fuck about other languages, until he realised he wanted to join the galaxy garrison, at which point he went oh shit it’s only in english there, and started studying english like a madman. and spanish, because america’s got two official languages and you never know. and french and russian, because canada and russia are the other major players in space, and you can never be too careful.

mind you he learned these all in a purely academic setting as a teenager, so while he was fluent in all of them by the time he was old enough for the garrison, he was unpleasantly surprised to find that everyone used too much slang and contractions, and he was speaking in a very stilted and mechanical way with a hell of an accent. it took him about a year to get his english to a natural level, and he put up with harrasment for years until he managed to completely scrub out his accent. as a result, the majority of his friends at the garrison were other ESL students from overseas. he still kept every single one of his electronics set to japanese, and when tired, distracted or stressed, if someone tries to talk to him he is much more likely to respond in japanese without noticing. any time he’s returning from a trip home to visit his family, for the first week he starts every other sentence in rapid japanese, stops halfway through, thinks it over, and repeats himself in slower english. its rough to switch over.

he started going by shiro because in his first year, luck of the draw meant he was the only non-american in his astrophysics class, and the instructor was one who believed in groupwork and lots of it, so within a month everyone was acquaintances. there was mass confusion about if shiro’s name was shirogane or takashi, and attempts to explain made it worse. the matter was not helped by this being first year, and shiro not having the best grasp on conversational english. eventually he gave up and just told them all to call him shiro, because just shirogane sounded weird when everyone else went by their first names, and people kept pronouncing takashi weird so he gave up and took a nickname. it grew on him and he stuck with it.

while the garrison had the most international students out of any school in america, it was still very much a predominantly american school with 60% of the students being american. another 20% were canadian, british or australian. white native english speakers were a vast majority, and shiro had to deal with some racists. the racists he honestly didnt mind too much, because he could just physically drag them to an instructor he knew was sympathetic, explain what happened, and boom problem solved. what he absoloutely fucking hated were the weeaboos. he hated them. hated them so much. as a very attractive japanese teenager, he was getting weird fetishizing love letters at least once a month. and the amount of times he got invited to join the anime club. explaining to them that no he actually couldnt stand anime was too much of a chore to be worth it. eventually he worked out how to be juuuust enough of an asshole that they went away, but he wasnt in trouble for it. it was a very frustrating part of his life.

he grew up on hokkaido, specifically in sapporo because hunk and lance are both from tropical islands, keith is from desert texas, and pidge probably lived in the south her whole life because her father was a Big Deal with the galaxy garrison, which is the evolved form of NASA, and NASA operated entirely in the south. my canadian heart cannot handle an entire team thats used to just different shades of fucking hot, i need one of them to be from freeze your balls off up north, and its gotta be shiro.

although ironically, while shiro was more than happy to join the unofficial tradition of students from cold areas laughing at students from warm areas whenever the temperatures dropped, shiro was spending most of the year in florida, where the garrison is, and going back to sapporo during the summer for breaks, as the winter and spring break werent long enough to make the flights worth it. his tolerance for the cold dropped dramatically. his first year after graduating, he went back to sapporo in december for the first time, and was very displeased to realise that he was not prepared for the cold anymore. not prepared at all. oh god. holy shit.

after his application into the garrison was approved, things were a bit awkward for shiro because this meant unenrolling from the high school he’d been attending, and waiting to start class in the new semester at the galaxy garrison. he got the acceptance in spring. classes in japan start in april. classes in america start in september. it was like being on break, but it lasted half a year. it was surreal for shiro. i mean sure, there was preparing to go to america alone, but passport and visa prep only takes up so much time, and luggage/packing isnt a problem until the week leading up to leaving. he spent a lot of time lying around the house during that half year. you can only study alone for so long before you need to do something else. the sudden switch from the highly pressured japanese school enviroment to ~nothing to do~ was very jarring, but ended up functioning as a sort of gap year. as a genius kid, he was under a lot of pressure. being able to take a step back and breathe did him a world of good.

shiro is extremely foul mouthed, but has a reputation for almost never swearing. this is because he never completely gets the hang of english swearing, and decides to just not bother with working out how to properly say things that will land him in shit anyways. but he swears. almost constantly. just, in japanese. its hilariously common for other students to think “oh, there goes shiro, thinking outloud to himself” while shiro is actually violently swearing under his breath about forgetting his notes in his dorm. in his last year, he accidentally traumatized a first year from tokyo, when he was attempting to find a book he needed for his thesis from the library, and the computer he was using refused to cooperate. this led to him furiously cursing out the poor computer. in earshot of the first year, whose offended gasp was legendary. shiro immediately bribed her into secrecy. noone must know.

shiro realised he was pansexual during his half year hangtime between high school and garrison. while not exactly locked in the closet, he didn’t really think the information needed to be shared with anyone, and he was too busy with classes to really want to date anyone. he was only trying to hide his orientation from the weeaboos, mentioned earlier, who would have gotten even worse with the creepy fetishizing and never left him alone. he’s never really dated, and his experience is fooling around with other cadets, and the occasional one night stand when he was older with civilians his age in the nearby town. upon being considered for the kerberos mission, he immediately started very carefully making sure nobody found out about his sexuality. the first public broadcast from the kerberos ship was live to the world, and ended with shiro cheerfully declaring himself the first openly pansexual man in space. mission control had not been warned of this. the only parties warned in advance were sam and matt holt, and they both strongly approved of the idea.

after the kerberos team was declared dead from pilot error, it eventually came out that the garrison had no idea what caused the mission failure, and that the ship just suddenly lost communication and vanished, and that the pilot had been a convenient scapegoat. there was immediate backlash from a great deal of parties. over two dozen different LGBT and/or POC rights groups filed lawsuits against the Garrison, calling rascism and/or homophobia. international relations between america and japan turned frosty. shiro had previously been considered a national tragedy crossed with embarrasement for apparently fucking up such an important mission, but oh the speed at which that turned around. multiple cities, including sapporo and tokyo, comission statues of shiro practically overnight. he immediately swung around to national tragedy crossed with hero.

Last May, an online tirade between PAGCOR’s AVP for Entertainment Jimmy Bondoc and Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin ranting the possible closure of ABS-CBN. Bondoc’s Facebook post opened with ‘I am excited to see the biggest TV network close down...’ It is directly related to the impending closure of the network if the congress will not renew the franchise.

President Rodrigo Duterte had big statements including last year’s statement that he will block the franchise of ABS-CBN while the franchise renewal bill was pending in the 17th Congress until it adjourned sine die last June 4th.

It can be recalled that in 2016, during the last campaign hurrah for the Presidential elections, ABS-CBN blocked the airing of the controversial political ad of Duterte who ran for President (Sen. Antonio Trillanes paid for the said ad), but it went controversial thus many kids appearing in the video and some statements from Duterte who wants to kill them all. During his presidency, he was mad at the Lopezes, including the rejection of the Commission on Appointments in the appointment of Gina Lopez as DENR Secretary.

In November of 2018, he threathened to oppose the franchise renewal. The 25-year franchise renewal of ABS-CBN was signed by then President Fidel Ramos in the beginning of 1995 which will set to expire on March 20, 2020

And it came to pass, the franchise renewal bill of ABS-CBN did not push through, but it eventually freezed. What’s next? They will refile the 25-year franchise renewal bill if.... The President must change his mind and apologize to the Lopezes right before signing in the franchise. The 18th congress begins July 22nd of this year, coinciding with the President’s 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA), and the franchise renewal bill must act now.

During the latter part of May, the Anniversary logo of ABS-CBN (photo above) became trending online showing support to the network, including current & former ABS-CBN talents, newscasters, reporters, and other staffs. This must be the central issue, madlang people.

Despite ABS-CBN is No.1 for many years, and earned KBP Golden Dove and PMPC Star Awards for TV as Best TV Station, and accolades from various collegiate award giving bodies, ABS-CBN has become a big part of diversing many platforms beyond traditional media. 65 years is a big journey for ABS-CBN when it began its 1st TV station on October 1953 as DZAQ-TV of Alto Broadcasting System, and more than 70 years from its founding as Bolinao Electronics System back in 1946.

ABS-CBN closed shop during Martial Law era, sequestered by the Marcos government and became Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation which is became the home of Channel 2 and its radio counterparts, while the Lopezes exiled in the USA. During the 1986 EDSA Revolution, reformists forced to shut down the transmission area of Sgt. Esguerra and Mother Ignacia streets where BBC and other government networks were located (it was also the home of PTV-4 that time under Maharlikha Broadcasting System shutted down but eventually reactivated its broadcast at the height of the revolution), and it was the rebirth of ABS-CBN. The network returned to the airwaves via a radio station DZMM on July 22nd of the same year, while Channel 2 began broadcasting in September, and DWKO-FM 101.9 went on the air in November.

There are ups and downs of Kapamilya network that myst remember and experience in its 65 year existence in the Philippine TV Industry. We, as a nation, must propagate the true freedom of expression and media freedom. The network is in dire danger of closing shop next year if President Duterte did not stop from tirading the Lopezes and blocking the franchise renewal.

In the case of Rappler, an online news portal, arresting the one responsible for the news website is a harrasment to the media. Some reporters even blocked the grounds of Malacañang banning them from covering the President’s events.

Let me think... It may have 6 months for ABS-CBN to endorse it for the congressmen & senators for franchise renewal, and this will take it seriously.
