Sept 29th, 2019 || current tbr 📚 . 🌻El clamor de los bosques. Been reading this for a while but slowly, so that I can take in everything this book has to offer. 🌻Serpent & Dove. One of my most anticipated YA books of the year. Haven’t read much (60 pages) but it’s interesting and fast-paced. 🌻The Prisoner of Azkaban. I have started rereading the HP series and it’s time for the third installment. It’s not a priority read so i’ll read it whenever. 🌻Girl, Woman, Other. Been meaning to read this one for months.... the booker is gonna be announced soon and i wish i could’ve read it by then but considering my reading moods lately it ain’t gonna happen 😔🤷🏻‍♀️ . 🎃OCTOBER WRAP-UP🎃 . 🍂 I continued with my reread of Harry Potter and got through the Prisoner of Azkaban to the Half-Blood Prince. I am enjoying immensely this reread but I am struggling with the movies. I’m currently taking notes on the sixth one and dear goodness, I wanna punch someone. . 🍂 El clamor de los bosques. I did a full review on this one is you’re interested (8.5/10). . 🍂 Serpent & Dove. It was a fun read but didn’t have enough world building. It didn’t feel like a fantasy… more like a romance historical fiction because it does focus a lot on the romance so keep that in mind (6.5/10). . 🍂 Girl, Woman, Other. Absolutely brilliant. I also did a full review on it in a previous post (10/10). . 🍂 Emergency Contact. Absolutely forgettable. No need to waste my time on a full review because I wouldn’t have much to talk about. Predictable and annoying and I don’t like when characters use a trauma they’ve suffered to justify being mean. (4/10). . 🍂 Lyra’s Oxford. A nice short story but it wasn’t particularly mind-blowing or anything. I read it in preparation for The Secret Commonwealth (6/10). . 🍂 The Little Stranger. I planning to write a full review of this one so I will say that I loved the setting but for me the pacing was off. It is a very subtle story about the decadency of the higher classes in post-war England and the frustration of those who want to rise above their status (7/10). . 🍂 Others: Writers on the power of words to help us see beyond ourselves. This collection had a bit of everything but most of the stories, poems or essays were a bit hit or miss for me. And I DNFed a couple of things as well. I don’t even know how to rate it properly. Looking at each individual ratings I see I enjoyed half of the contents of this collection and the other half, not so much. . I did manage to read quite a lot but it’s because of Harry Potter. I fly through those books. So, how was your October for you?
