Petreon (Rock/Flying)

#??? - On rare occasion, an Eevee can be affected by more than one environmental factor, and reacts to grow into a new, rare evolution. Wild Rock/Flying Eeveelutions, named Petreon, often live in small groups in the caves along cliff sides. Exposure to nesting bird Pokemon in the rocky cliffs is believed to cause the evolution into Petreon, though Trainers can encourage their Eevee to evolve into this Rock/Flying type by giving them a Sharp Beak and enriching their diet with heavy minerals. These nocturnal Pokemon are most active at night, where they descend into nearby forests to hunt; occasionally they will wander into towns and cities, taking roost atop tall buildings. If a building has been claimed by one of these Eeveelutions, it can be very hard to remove; they take great pride over their territory, and will protect it faithfully from trespassers. If Petreon are stumbled upon during the day, they will stay rigidly still, pretending to be a statue until the intruder’s back is turned. A diet supplemented with rocks and minerals builds up and supports their durable, stone-like exterior, which easily protects them from most physical attacks. Damage to a Petreon’s rock-like hide is healed over time; however, major injuries will leave a scar. These Pokemon wield their cracks as a badge of honor, a symbol of an intense conflict survived.

Hi I’ve just recently found your blog am I can say I’m.obsessed. I’m absolutely love imagining the close bond between a trainer and their Pokémon!

With that in mind I’d love to request a piece with a elderly garchomp who lost part of its arm fin and spike,old bones with stiff joints,cracked skin,old scars littering it’s body.it’s most prominent scar is right across his eye,now a milky white.

Garchomp was readers gramps,who used to be champion in alola,but due to the whole ultra beast fiasco it’s done a real number on his old boy.So he sent his buddy to his granddaughter in the sunny,warm region of Paldea to live out his golden years.

How would arven,penny amd Nemona react to this battle hardened but gentle old man dragon?

Aww yeah! I also love the concept of elderly pokemon. I remember seeing one of the poketoon episodes with a champion's charizard who was kinda in his elder years and I think it's neat they touched on that

I'll just do these as hcs! (and also I think it'd be cool if peepaw garchomp wore a necklace with a dragonium z crystal encased in it as a momento of his achievements)

Arven

When you first introduced your gramps' Garchomp to Arven...he was quite startled seeing how old and battle-scarred he looked.

However, you didn't seem all that concerned and calmly explained that this one used to belong to a family member who was an Alolan Champion.

Though after the invasion of the Ultra Beasts and everything else that happened, your gramps decided his Garchomp was due for a much-needed retirement. So he sent him over to you in Paldea, knowing you'll take good care of his ace.

Plus, Gar's known you since he was a little Gible, so he 100% trusted you.

Despite all he's been through, barely a mean bone in his body remains. He's just a gentle old soul who'd much rather relax in the sun and get nice baths. He knows his worst days are behind him.

Unsurprisingly, Casseroya Lake became his favorite spot, so you and Arven have a lot of picnics there. The dragons usually mind their business, although Gar's quite popular with the local Dreepy population, who flock to him like children.

But because Garchomps at this stage in their lives have a tough time walking and lose their ability to fly, you'll have to assist him with getting around places.

However he's very stubborn about going back into his pokeball.

Thanks to Arven adding herba mystica to his meals, he still retains a good deal of strength. And while it can't reverse the effects of aging, you reassure him that he doesn't have to use up his entire supply to keep Garchomp healthy.

Tbh your friend's gonna get a little sappy seeing you take care of this sweet elderly dragon, hoping that he'll grow old with Mabosstiff still by his side.

Penny

It never really hit her that Pokémon can just...grow old like humans do, until she met your gramps' Garchomp.

And the first question that comes out of her mouth is: "So is he like...a hundred years old or something?"

Obviously Gar's unamused, but forgives her anyways with a nuzzle.

Lowkey he scares her, even though you reassure her over and over he's as sweet as a Slurpuff.

Her eeveelution team, much to her shock, warm up to him fast. Especially Sylveon, who snuggles with him and helps you aid him with walking and whatnot.

Flareon also helps keep him cozy since his cracked skin makes him more vulnerable to the cold.

Despite all of this, it still takes a while for Penny to warm up to him and pet him.

The whole eevee team had to band together and literally nudge her over to him

Once she does, you teasingly praise her for overcoming her "Garchomphobia", which flusters her enough to send you a glare.

Meanwhile, ol' Garchomp's chuckling in the background, very happy you found some good friends here.

Nemona

You knew she was gonna flip out (with excitement) as soon as you let it slip that your grandpa, an Alolan Champion, had handed his Garchomp over to you.

She's seen the tournaments when she was younger..and is lowkey jealous you're related to somebody so famous.

But you made it very, very clear that this dragon is in retirement and is done with battling. For good.

He wasn't transferred to you to fight more Pokémon, but to enjoy his golden years.

Despite this, Nemona still got overexcited upon seeing him, examining the z-crystal encased in his necklace with stars in her eyes.

"This allowed you to use Devastating Drake, right???"

Ofc, still being a little bit of a showoff, Garchomp managed to mimic the z-move pose his trainer once used, much to her delight-

Then one of his joints popped and he had to stop before he was in too much pain.

She's infinitely apologetic about it, even though he doesn't mind.

@eeveelutiontwos Xiangliu: The Azuretwo stared quietly at Vismay for a good long moment, dark pink tail swishing behind her. When she finally spoke, it was to say:

"You are very beautiful."

Another moment of silence.

"...Are you like me? I have a purpose I was created for. Do you have one?" While the sentence could come off badly in text, Xiangliu's voice held only genuine curiosity.

The old mew startled slightly at her compliment ears up before lowering in a bashful manner mouth falling into a smile, "You are too kind dearest one," one of his top paws idly brushed through the fur of his chest, "although the sun and ages have weathered my form I accept your compliment with gratitude and warmth," he moved in his float to bow to her in show of gratitude and general display of his manners paws moving in a flourish before righting himself to observe her in great intrigue.

"Forgive me if this is rude but you are a mewtwo correct?" Moving around her carefully, "my and something else yes I sense it, Eevee dna I'm sure," a paw to his mouth in thoughts before remembering himself, "ah I apologise but I believe I have not had the honor of this form of evolution in my own world, dragon typing yes?"

"You are if I may say far more beautiful than I, I am honored to be in your company. Having the opportunity to become even only briefly aware of the vast variables of evolution across the multiverses meeting pokemon that I may never meet back home, it's a privilege to always be learning so thank you." His voice carried so much wonder and warmth for having met her.

Though it was somewhat obvious they were avoiding her question using the opportunity of meeting her and a new eeveelution to keep the conversation away.

The guilt however of not answering her question when it was likely she was trying to reach out and bond with an individual she believed to be like herself caught him first before she had to ask again or believed she may have crossed a boundary. He gave a sad smile to her as he exhaled from his nose slowly.

"I'm afraid I was created without a true purpose, just like how through random variable your world has a dragon evolution of Eevee, random variables led to my existence, it was purely chance I'm here now." One of their ears moves to the side then righted itself as he thought, "I was given tasks of course and purpose but," ears flattened again in sadness their voice faltered cracking until it quietened having miscalculated how ready for the discussion he was. He offered a sad shy smile of apology.

Clearing their throat coughing into a paw they regained their voice and spoke again, "I do what I can in the meantime, I help keep the dna of lost pokemon stored," he patted his chest above his heart, "so they're never truly gone even if extinct, reintroducing older dna into species for biodiversity, typical mew work even if I'm not technically," he moved his head in sort of a wobble not finishing the sentence since it was pretty evident he wasn't a traditional mew by any means.

"While, I know that was likely not the answer you expected may I ask about your purpose? I would love to hear to be enlightened about you and the world you reside in, I'm aware of mewtwo often having, complicated origins, perhaps yours are kinder than what I know?"

The Ancestor

@mushroom-for-art and I were bouncing ideas around. I thought it would be neat if espeon somehow got their split tail from Mush's ancient mew, Vismay. I think they're gonna make it canon in their universe, but they said I could make a two-tailed Genesis Mew for my universe, too. I haven't drawn them yet, but I will.

Mush described what the first eevee touched by vismay mightve evolved into, and I couldn't help but take a crack at it.

This lovely is actually the ancestor to many contemporary eeveelutions, though. The first one is obvious considering the context:

The horn-gem shrinks back, the tails start to fuse, and the fluff begins to recede until we get the standard espeon.

Another one you mightve guessed:

Mixing with dragon types creates a new branch that eventually balances out to the fairy type. Somehow. Cut me some slack, this is the franchise that made alolan raichu evolve that way because of pancakes.

Maybe also a likely guess:

The crystal horn grows and starts to take on the chill to help regulate body heat. The tail fuses into a distinctive shape.

This one is probably the most brow-raising:

Polar vaporeon evolves from the ancient glaceon after it takes to the water to find more abundant food resources. Rising temperatures, migration, and domestication give way to the warm-water descendant.

I haven't figured out the other eeveelutions yet. Either I'll connect them with this ancestor or make a separate one. Most likely the latter. Stay tuned?

Gallant: Togekiss and Spritzee. He doesn’t battle, they’re just his silly little birdie friends

lord. characters having good times. i can not stand it. im gonna blow up. elias falling asleep on a reclining chair with his ditto resting in his lap. zero finally working up the courage to go to an eeveelution cafe and he gets a drink with marshmallow umbreon ears and he cries. anna gives noel a piece of hematite she found in the cracks of a sidewalk because it reminded her of him and he stares at it for 2 hours. shelly is hundreds of miles in the air with heather on the back of her salamance and she feels like she is going to die and yet never wants it to land. saphira finally feeling safe enough to go to sleep and conking out for like 14 hours squeezing her dragonite and wakes up to a bag of sour gummy worms from the gas station and homemade tea on the nightstand from her sisters. blake talking passionately for ages because he for once feels like he can be personal & vulnerable about his interests without mocking himself in the same breath. taka decides to carry on his family’s tradition of getting a family portrait done and now every morning wakes up to ace luna and himself in cheap crayons from restauraunts and stickers on the wall made by noel. hardy gets fern a cactus because “it reminds me of you” and fern told him to kill himself but has been watering it for months now and is remarkably proud of how long he’s kept it alive and will never admit it but he named it daniel. florinia watching a movie with julia on the couch but julia fell asleep halfway through on her so its past midnight and she doesnt want to wake her up by moving so just goes to bed right ontop of her FUCKKKKKKKKK

All your OCs go to a gas station late at night for snacks, what are they getting?

it's a little past 1am and the vulpixgirl behind the counter is admittedly starting to get tired. she's halfway through her shift and aside from the occasional customer coming in to buy a drink, nothing's happened.

that is, until a full group of eeveelutions push their way through the sliding doors. she'd met a few eevees in her life, one of her coworkers was a leafeon, but she'd never seen the full group of evolutions all in one place before. they were all wearing different band shirts; some bands she recognized, others she didn't. not to mention there was a mild stench of sweat coming from the group. they must be on their way back from a concert.

the vaporeon was the first through the doors, which was impressive considering his rounder figure. he pretty much made a break for the soda machine and in the blink of an eye he was already filling up an XL cup with a combination of every brightly colored soda that was available on the machine.

the next through the doors was the glaceon, who seemed much more collected as he led the rest of the group into the store.

"koolaid! holy shit, man, chill!"

alright, so the vaporeon is named koolaid. that's kinda cute. did his parents know he was gonna be a vaporeon when he grew up? before she could continue pondering the logic behind koolaid's existence, the glaceon stepped up to the counter.

"hi. i just wanna apologize ahead of time on behalf of my boyfriends. and also me. most of us are drunk... and/or high."

boyfriends...? like, plural? holy shit are they all dating each other

"we, um. we just saw king gizzard. that shit ruled."

as the glaceon starts to ramble about the concert he'd just been to, she can see behind him the jolteon speedwalking to the refrigerated shelves and taking out as many monster energy drinks as he can carry in one arm, cracking one open and pounding it with the other. as soon as the can's empty, he makes eye contact with you and freezes.

"SORRY I'LL PAY FOR THAT ONE SEC"

the jolteon unceremoniously takes another monster from his carrying arm and starts chugging it too, while carrying the empty can he'd just finished.

the sylveon meets up with koolaid by the soda machine and begins berating him for mixing cream soda with lime crush. koolaid tries to argue that the soda is rainbow "just like you, taffy". they continue bickering as the jolteon comes up to the counter to pay for the now three monsters he's drank plus four more he hasn't yet.

in the back of the store the vulpixgirl can see the flareon, eevee and the leafeon together. both the leafeon and eevee are completely leaning into the flareon from both sides and slurring words of love and affection while the flareon keeps them from falling over as he tries to pick out which flavor of Doritos he wants.

the espeon walks up to the flareon, carrying the umbreon in his arms. the umbreon looks like he's out cold and holy fuck why is his tail so big. the espeon and flareon start to talk about the boys they're taking care of and it becomes clear that the two of them are the designated drivers for the evening. suddenly the umbreon squeaks a little bit, getting the espeon's attention.

".... gummy?"

"Yes, Mr. Sleepyhead?"

"....... gummies....."

"Oh. Oohhhh. Yeah, I can grab you some."

gummy travels to the candy aisle while the leafeon and eevee start getting lovey with each other instead of with the flareon. the glaceon is still talking about the concert, apparently he's psyched because they played "vomit coffin", which sounds disgusting. the jolteon is standing next to him, on his fourth monster, vibrating like one of those chatter teeth toys you wind up. he seems tens-"DO YOU GUYS HAVE A BATHROOM"

down the hall and on the right, she tells him. with a very fast "thankyou" he runs off in the other direction, past the leafeon and eevee who are now making out against the ice freezer. the flareon, initially distracted by still trying to pick a dorito flavor, notices what the two are doing and urgently grabs them by the shoulders and guides them out of the store. he passes by gummy and tosses a bag of classic nacho cheese Doritos onto the umbreon's chest; "I'll be right back"

koolaid and taffy are still bickering about the soda, while koolaid is still adding random drinks to his concoction replacing soda he's already drank (which is somehow turning his skin multiple colors), taffy is holding a medium size cup of grape soda.

gummy comes up to the counter and pays for a pack of assorted gummies coming in various shapes, as well as the Doritos he'd been asked to hold onto. "wasn't blanket gonna pay for that?", the glaceon stutters. gummy points out the window; blanket and the leafeon are now making out vigorously against a car and the eevee is cheering them on. "holy fuck, pepper", the glaceon laughs.

koolaid and taffy make their way up to the counter. koolaid pays in change, though the vulpixgirl has to charge extra for how much he drank before paying. "sorbet cmon let's gooooooooooo i wanna go to bed", koolaid pleads to the glaceon.

taffy pays for his drink, and for a second the vulpixgirl gets the feeling she's seen him before. "oh wait yeah hang on one sec", he drunkenly mumbles as he pulls his hair back. it was like a superhero removing his mask. that's fucking CottonCandi. she didn't watch his stuff but her boyfriend was a huge fan. luckily taffy was kind enough to take a pic with her.

you look out the window and now the eevee is making out with the umbreon. sorbet lazily rests his head on the counter with a big dumb smile on his face. "god..... pretzel and coke are so cute together"

you get the feeling that based on the names you've picked out so far, you know which is which.

finally the bathroom door at the other end of the store slams and the jolteon rushes out and back to the front. he's only got two monsters under his arm now. "arright I'm good let's go" is barely heard from him as he steps out of the sliding doors.

"pow- POWERADE!", sorbet yells. well, now the vulpixgirl knew all their names. powerade walked back in and came to sorbet, who placed a hand on his cheek and kissed him softly on the lips. "get everyone grouped up for me ok?"

sorbet turned back to the vulpixgirl who was equal parts distressed and amazed. it was extremely busy for those five minutes, sure, but it was the most interesting five minutes she'd ever worked. sorbet just grabbed a thing of gum from the selection below the counter and pulled out his wallet.

"umm... sorry about the commotion. but also thank you for putting up with it."

"Sorry if I'm being invasive, but... are you... all dating? Like, you're all in one big relationship?"

"yeah its pretty awesome. it wasnt always this way but now it is and its so awesome."

"Isn't it weird that you're all eeveelutions though?"

"not really, i mean i dont think so, its like if you had matching socks with your boyfriend but its matching yous instead. i dunno we just kinda got lucky i guess haha"

the vulpixgirl was still intrigued and wanted to ask more questions but kept stumbling over her words. as she printed off the receipt for sorbet's gum, he snatched it out of the machine.

"tell ya what-" he said, grabbing the pen attatched by a string to the counter and writing on the back of the receipt. "here's my number. text me- not tomorrow, im gonna be hungover as shit tomorrow but uhhh. fuckin koolaid and his fuckin water type shit not getting any hangovers..... fuckin lucky bastard...."

"Text you when?"

"oh. sorry yeah text me when im sober... in like a few days and we can hang out or something. ill tell you all about it. shits awesome man"

and just like that, they were gone. they grouped up into two cars and drove back onto the highway. the vulpixgirl definitely had a story to tell her boyfriend tomorrow morning when he woke up; there were still three hours left in her shift.

Orange League, Episode 36 - Rival Showdown! Ash vs. Gary!!

Is this it? Are we finally, finally going to learn what Gary's Starter is and whether or not he still has them? The answer, and this may not surprise you, is no. Gary wants a 1v1; Ash and Gary are both to use the ace of their respective teams in a single duel.

For Ash, that's Pikachu. For Gary? Eevee. This is something of a recursive development for Gary's team, which allows him to sidestep ever committing to an answer on the Starter question.

Pokemon Yellow had been released about a year prior to this episode, which was designed for anime synergy. In Yellow, Red receives an Eevee in much the same fashion as Ash did in the anime - But that also means that Blue can't select a Starter based on your own.

So the game assigns to him an Eevee. The outcome of your first two Rival Matches with Blue then determines which Eeveelution he chooses to go with: Vaporeon if he's too hard and the player needs an edge, Jolteon if you smoke him both times to give him resistance against Pikachu, and Flareon if you win some and lose some.

Since the anime-synergy game gave Blue an Eevee, it only makes sense for Gary to have one as his ace - replacing whatever his original Starter was. But since Ash and Gary never had the first two matches to decide an evolution, Eevee appears in their base form.

(This does not technically confirm 100% that Gary was, in fact, one of the three Trainers who abandoned what are now Ash's Starters. But at this point, I'm pretty convinced. Kick his ash.)

Rival Battle: Pikachu vs. Eevee

Eevee is a well-rounded Pokemon with stats staying between 50 and 55 across the board, save for their 65 Special. Pikachu, by contrast, is a glass cannon; His 90 Speed is his strongest asset, with 55 Attack and 50 Special for dishing out damage. But at 35 HP and 30 Defense, he's not designed for a prolonged battle.

That might be a problem for him. He's more or less guaranteed to strike first, but Eevee beats him in Special, and Pikachu doesn't have the stats to stand up to Eevee's STAB Normal attacks. If Pikachu can't do something quick, the tide will turn in Eevee's favor.

Ash's best option is to use status moves to even the odds. Reflect would help shield the fragile Pikachu from Eevee's much stronger attacks, and Thunder Wave could give him an edge by costing Gary turns. But neither of these are moves that Ash's Pikachu has ever demonstrated knowledge of.

No matter which way you slice it, Ash is at a disadvantage here. And that's before accounting for a difference in skill level. Gary lays down the status moves, using Reflect to block Pikachu's Normal moves while relying on relatively high Special and the evasion-boosting Double Team to manage the Electric assault.

Pikachu just can't get through. And when Gary connects a solid Skull Bash, the damage easily drops Pikachu.

Gary Wins!

Yeah, that's about right. No notes. Well, some notes; They're still using status moves for things they don't do, like treating Agility as an evasive technique or treating barrier moves as a reflexive defense like Protect rather than applying them as setup techniques. But overall, this match feels right.

Once that's settled, Gary departs for Johto. New version just dropped and it's time to finally start playing Gold and Silver. Ash follows after shortly, but not before Oak gives him a new quest - Which those of us who played Crystal should be familiar with, due to it being added for anime synergy, but that was originally anime-exclusive.

Oak can't crack the secrets of the GS Ball, so he wants Ash to take it to Johto and consult the Poke Ball crafter Gantetsu/Kurt. He's an old man who lives in Hiwada/Azalea Town and makes special Poke Balls out of Apricorns if you bring them to him. Of course he'd be the go-to guy for looking into this mysterious sphere.

Oak gives Ash directions to Wakaba/New Bark Town, the town where winds of a new beginning blow. Ash intends to walk to Johto, which shouldn't be too far. It's just to the west; The two regions are close enough to each other that they share Victory Road and Indigo Plateau.

Tracey leaves the party to become Oak's assistant. Brock officially rejoins the party, since there's a slot open for him. And just like that, Ash sets out to start a new game.

Thanks to @/arvalis for giving me this idea!

RJ brought it up that only the Gen 1 Eeveelutions have the neck/collar motif. None of the rest of them do. Sylveon and Leafeon could maybe be argued partial, but comparatively speaking, notsomuch. 

So I took a crack at restoring this motif! Umbreon was actually the hardest one to figure for, but a glowing crescent collar worked out for my interpretation. I built on other folks’ suggestions for Glaceon and Leafeon~ I had fun is the most important part! c:

Meet Reccs the kobold! Panic Barbarian, anxious (over)eater, and nervous wrecking ball~

My D&D group’s paladin player offered to DM a one-shot adventure for us to segue the crew back to the homebrew campaign after finishing Curse of Strahd, and thanks to the insistent existence of my friend Blu’s kobold Flick, it’s a kobold-focused adventure. And this jumpy kneebreaker of a lizardrat gal is my character for that! c:  Loud noises freak her out, so other ‘bolds clamoring has caused her to clear a room with panicked tail sweeps. And when she Rages, it’s more of a sobbing freakout aimed to hit whatever’s tripped her anxiety.

okay i think far too much about pokemon aus so *cracks knuckles* get ready for me to be annoying

this is a basic idea for a team, kate definitely has more but i feel like these would become her like main partners. this is also not like a kate is playing pokemon team but if she existed within the universe

The Extensive Eevee Family

Oh boy. This is gonna be a long one.

So I guess I was kind of lying earlier when I called Meowth and Charizard the official number twos of Pokemon, since it looks like Eevee has usurped that title recently. It was featured alongside Pikachu as an option to be your partner in the recent Let’s Go games, and is even the only Pokemon to receive an anime-styled voice cry in modern games besides Pikachu. Ew.

Eevee is also extremely popular for being absolutely centered, nay, pigeonholed around the core concept of evolution. Eevee has a current total of 8 different evolutions, the most of any Pokemon to date. Each represents a single type, and only time will tell if they make one for all 18 types. I dread the thought.

Eevee at least looks like a sort of basic, rudimentary Normal critter that could benefit from some extra elemental spice. Its appearance being a sort of cross between a fox, kitten, and other typically cute mammals also helped to skyrocket its popularity far above others in Pokemon’s encyclopedia, helped even further by its special evolution gimmick.

I’m not the first person to think of this idea, but I do think it would be pretty funny to have an evolution of Eevee that only happened at an absurdly high level, and was only a bigger, still Normal type Eevee critter. The Pokedex would make mention that it was only recently discovered simply because no one had bothered raising an Eevee for that long without evolving it. Genius.

I still hope that idea happens someday, but for now the closest we’ll probably get is Gigantamax Eevee, the only other non-fully evolved Pokemon to get one alongside Pikachu and Meowth. It’s alright, not being much more than regular Eevee with bigger neck fluff. That’s cute enough, I suppose.

I’ll be ranking each ‘eeveelution’ separately, because I view them all a little differently and it would be a pain to try and group them up by score. I’ll spoil it now, though, none of them crack 5/5.

Vaporeon comes pretty close, though. I enjoy just how devoted this one is to its new Water typing, featuring a fancy finned collar, as well as a dorsal fin atop its head and two where its ears would’ve been. The lined ridge trailing down its back ending in a whale tail is also a neat touch, making Vaporeon really feel like a field or forest mammal hyper-evolved to fit a new aquatic environment.

Vaporeon also possesses the ability to ‘melt’ into water, cloaking itself as a puddle completely. It can even somehow travel between puddles as if teleporting, which is a pretty cool power for a wacky water cat to have.

Score: 4/5

Vaporeon is easily my favorite, even a bit predictably so.

Jolteon isn’t that bad either, this time representing the Electric type. This is shown off by all of its fur standing on end, giving it a staticy coat of spikes covering its body. It can even fire individual hairs like tiny little electrified needles, which is a pretty unnerving concept to picture having to deal with in person. Otherwise, there’s not a lot to comment on.

I have even less to say about the Fire type Flareon. It’s pretty much described in the same way as any other first generation Fire type is, leaning towards the underdeveloped Ponyta than the more interesting early game ones are. I do like at least how its tail stands up like a candle flame in the newer games, though.

Espeon is pretty cool, though, being a contender for my second favorite of the family. It embodies the Psychic type, and is likely supposed to resemble a hairless sphynx cat, which is an apt fit for those mystic powers. 

Espeon evolves by having a high friendship value during the daytime, so of course is described as being extremely loyal and protective of its trainer. More notably, though, it grows weak during the nighttime and loses energy if it’s kept out of the sun for too long. That’s a pretty neat idea, especially given how a lot of mystical Pokemon previously have drawn power from the moon. Espeon is instead solar-powered, and it’s even more unique for a Pokemon that is neither Fire type nor a plant to benefit from strong sunlight.

Score: 4/5

Espeon’s counterpart is Umbreon, who evolves during the night, and is Dark type, which completely nullifies Psychic attacks. It’s a cool sleek black, and those yellow ring elements, likely meant to resemble the moon, make for good splashes of bright color on its design. They even turn bright blue in its shiny for extra flair!

Interestingly, Umbreon started off in development as a Poison type, which still seems to remain as a part of its anatomy. It’s said to secrete poison like sweat to cool itself off, and also likely to deter predators from trying to bite into it. Like Shellder and Lickitung, it’s pretty cool for a Pokemon to still incorporate something like bodily toxins in its design while not fully committing to the Poison typing.

The generation four Eevees, though… oof. Leafeon rather clearly is a new Grass type form, and seems to have taken the most rudimentary route when designing one. Sure, just get a catlike creature and slap some leaves and tufts of grass on it. C’mon, you’re not telling me they could’ve done just a little bit more with this design, right? Why not have an Eevee snared up in a bunch of vines, or an Eevee with a large grassy cape covering its body with flowers blooming all over it, or maybe another prickly, thorny Eevee, or SOMETHING. Leafeon is so underwhelming in its design I don’t know what I should take away from it.

Man, Glaceon might be even worse. Is there really anything here that makes it clear Glaceon is supposed to be an Ice type? If I hue shifted it purple, would it then be supposed to work as a Poison type? Flareon at least has a tail and tuft of fur on its head that look like flames. Glaceon doesn’t even have that. Shouldn’t it have like, ice encrusting its paws, or something? Maybe icicles hanging from its ears? What about the original Eevee’s scruff of neck fur, huh? Couldn’t that become a scarf or something similar?? Why is Glaceon so bland and underdeveloped, dang it!!!

One last Eevee was introduced to show off the new Fairy type, sporting a frilly pink color and adorned with bows and ribbons. Sylveon wouldn’t be all that special, except that the Pokedex describes the ribbons as feelers, which Sylveon coils around the arms of its trainer in an attempt to comfort them. I can’t help but feel like feeling these weird, furred tendrils wrapping around your arm would only distress you further, and the Fairy type’s pension for more mischievous and sinister tendencies does give Sylveon breathing room for more less-than-wholesome intentions if it so desires.

Phew, that’s a lot of Eevees. They never ranked too highly on my list of personal favorites, so forgive me for not going extremely in depth on most of them.

1. What was my first starter pokemon

*cracks back* Yeah I'm old but Squirtle was my first. Can't resist the ever smiling turtle xD

OOF: Oh this is going straight for the one hit KO here oof okay well let's see

1. Mimikyu : I feel this Pokemon's plight in my soul - I took would prefer to hide 9/10 times under a mask xD

2. Gengar: Ghost types have always been my favorite and my house is full of them. Figurines and plushies I mean.

3. Ogerpon: A new addition but I fell head over heels for this cute pokemon and her sad storyline, behind the scenes oh my god what a tragic backstory. I defeated that wicked peach with mine and oh it felt GOOD. Plus her masks are AWESOME. I totally don't have a Plush Ogerpon of my own...course not xD I totally also didn't base an entire multi chap fic retelling of "Indigo Disk" on this Pokemon and her untold by Gamefreak in full backstory. Course..not.

4. Chandelure: I love this Pokemon's design so much I even have earrings of them.

5. Mabosstiff: Originally I wasn't a fan then I played Arven's entire arc and now I will defend this Pokemon with all my being. I am not ashamed to say I bought that super fluffy super soft plush of it all the way from Japan. Nope.

5. Umbreon: My favorite eeveelution. Not because I have a black cat. Course not. XD

22. What kind of gym leader typing would I have?

Oh I'd be a Ghost type absolutely no doubt in my mind there xD . I'd have an Umbreon with ghost moves as well. Probably have a Frolass and Banette to even out the team of the three ghosts described above.
