What's your solution to bullying?
Tumblr media
Truthfully, it depends on the nature of the bullying. I presume your academy’s staff have done nothing to diminish or put an end to the harassment? That should be your natural first place to begin, if not. Their duties involve managing students who would subject others to harm, physical or otherwise.
But if they are negligent in their duties, you’ve no choice but to take matters into your own hands.
Still, you should be precise and deliberate in your reactions. Bullies are often insecure, more convinced of their inferiority than your own. Why else would they make a fuss and draw attention to the perceived inadequacies of another, if they were not fixated on their own?
Your disposition and social standing should also play factors here. If you are kind by nature, then kill them with it. When they accost you, show them compassion. Ask if there’s trouble at home. Are their grades falling? Perhaps they’d like to join a study group? Refer them to resources to help with whatever ails them so, that they must lash out so rashly.
It is difficult for even talented, intelligent debaters to fight an opponent that is being considerate. The dimwitted fools who resort to bullying stand no chance. The key here is to persist, no matter what, and never react in any other way but kindness. If you are spiteful at heart, don’t attempt it.
You would instead elect to get your pound of flesh in margins. Ignore them. Make light of their efforts to wound you. In order to succeed in that, you must have a clear picture of yourself. If you’re awkwardly tall, as I was in my youth, then you must be unafraid to admit that aloud. Any bullying focusing on that trait will fall flat when you simply agree. Ideally with mockery at the end, such as: “Yes, indeed I am. Would you like to observe the color of the walls next, or you finished here?” They may not stop, but it certainly limits their choices.
Eventually, as all fools do, they will make a misstep and cross a line. You must be prepared to ruthlessly exploit this infringement for every ounce of retribution. The higher the costs of bullying you, the less likely they will repeat their mistake.

Have some anime-ish (wo)men for the smash or pass: Hubert von Vestra (fire emblem), Dominique de Sade (vnc), Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Bungo stray dogs)
Vestra: I don't know him, he has some smash potential but what the fuck is this look on his face, kind of edgy but not in a sexy way, more like the way you look at a bug in the corner of your room and you try to not let it show that you are actually afraid of it, no thanks pass
Dominique: Still haven't finished vnc but that one is easy. Look at her, she is a vampire so there is only one correct answer and it's not pass
Fyodor Dostoyevsky: Point deduction for the name, can't believe you make me right this. Also, Alex, I am not judging but I think you have a type. Men with long black hair are always a smash but something in his face is too slimy for me. No thanks pass.

hubert is objectively the funniest character
evidence:
- just listen to any line of dialogue he has
- “von Vestra” is the absolute rawest surname I can think of. It sounds perfectly ominous and suitable for a character who looks Like That. but like . . . his first name is HUBERT
- Me: “Oh, maybe it’s pronounced the French way!” Edelgard: *very much not the French way* Hubert
- His entire deal is his obsessive and steadfast devotion to Edelgard. Edelgard is a character who can throw axes around like they’re nothing. Hubert, meanwhile, is made out of tissue paper and will die from a single hit.
- Threatens Byleth, a trained mercenary, in their C-support. Has to attend class the next day.
- seriously listen to any Edelbert support
- Felix has hilariously edgy lines too but Hubert does it in a more theatrical way? Like to me Felix is Shadow the Edgehog and Hubert is Scar Lion King. or like, Felix is Simple Plan and Hubert is MCR (no shade to Felix btw, I laughed at all his lines too)
- I forget who the op of the post was but someone said “Hubert is the Evil Advisor trope except the person he’s advising is 100% in on it”
- He killed his father. this is mentioned once and is never brought up again. nobody reacts to this
- I’m obsessed with El’s Hubert impersonation but on my second CF run I got to remember that Hubert impersonates his father and I am. OBSESSED with these dorks.
- He acts like he’s too good for school events and then goes “Lady Edelgard I hope you save one dance for me 🥺”
- DO YOU NOT LIKE THE SCARLET PATH I HAVE PREPARED FOR YOU
- “Hey Hubert is this your NOXIOUS HANDKERCHIEF?” “Yes, that is mine. Thank you.”
- He’s genuinely one of the more complex characters (if you look beyond the surface) and I am so so passionate about his character development but I mostly like him because every line he has sends me
- Hubert only blushes for two characters in the game: Byleth . . . and Ferdinand.
- he likes board games
- when you feed him something he likes he’s like “i don’t particularly care for food, but i will admit weakness for this one dish” which i take to mean that hubert is so edgy he thinks he’s too cool for EATING
- or alternatively, he is an actual vampire
- the evil laugh
- my best friend conceptualized the Byleth/Hubert relationship as a dad trying hard to impress his angsty teenage son. she calls him Hugh and I demand that this catch on please can we make Hugh happen
- by giving him traditionally “scary” facial features he actually gets one of the most interesting and unique character designs. this means that a lot of fanfic writes him as “sexy, but in a rat way”
- WOULDN’T IT BE TERRIBLE IF THE ARCHBISHOP GOT MURDERED
- he’s afraid of heights
- that one existential horror advice box question where he’s like “I used to fear the goddess. Now I fear the living” or something
- he is a massive edgelord to everyone else but he deliberately stops laughing around Bernie bc it scares her
- when Jeralt dies in Black Eagles Part I, Hubert gives you dry facts about the enemy’s position as his own odd way to comfort you. however, in any other route, he says “I’ve never been one for condolences” and leaves it at that
- he is 2 years older than his classmates. that fact alone makes everything he does 100x funnier
- the Hubert Stanning Experience is just laughing at this emo man until he’s wormed his way into your heart and soul and now he’s stuck there as your weird murder son

edgy steward who works as their lord's personal assassin and closest confidant, sometimes betraying their trust to do what they think will be best for them in the end, heavily implied to be into men and/or have feelings for their lord
(image description: Hubert von Vestra from Fire Emblem Three Houses, and Fenrich from Disgaea 4. Their outfits are switched. Hubert, with top surgery scars, is bowed with his right hand over his chest, in Fenrich’s usual pose. Fenrich, his hair tied in a ponytail, is balancing a small knife on his right pointer finger. Both are looking at the viewer and grinning menacingly.)

Top five things for Fire Emblem
5) Fire Emblem Heroes. While this mobile title is not without it flaws, the fact that it can be played entirely free to play is wonderful. While gacha games are exploitative as a whole (and this is why I can't reasonable put it higher) this one at least makes it fairly easy to make whatever unit you want in to a force to be reckoned with without spending a cent.
4) The character design. This is another one not without issue, there is some glaring issues of sexism and over sexualized designs, but damn are the good designs so wonderful. Every character is wonderful and unique (aside from the literal retextures in Fates that are just some Awakening characters redone, but 3 of those are forgivable since they actually are the same character). Best character design in opinion is probably Hubert Von Vestra, who really is a good take on the edgy lead with questionable morals.
3) The writing in general. This is a series that does not pull emotional punches. While I've only played from Awakening onward, and some things (especially in Fates) fall short, this series is wonderful and encompasses a great swath of emotions, from joy to despair to horror, it is quite good at showing things.
2) Fire Emblem: Three Houses. This game. Absolutely my favorite game released this year, and possibly one of my favorite games of all time. Fates wants what this game has. This is the first game of this type I've ever seen to address the terrible thing of war and not glorify it. The writing is amazing considering any of the four routes can be considered the best course. The characters are deep, with believable motives, and nobody is definitively right or wrong. This is going to be a game I return to many times over the years, exploring different options many times, and enjoying the stories it tells over and over again.
1) THE MUSIC. The thing that beats all. The music to this franchise ties everything together in a neat bow. While writing can carry a scene, music can make you feel it, and it certainly does it in this series. The music from this series is so good it makes up a large portion of my listening (something my partner can attest to having been woken up to me playing Twilight of the Gods or Apex of the World.) This franchise would still be amazing, but I probably wouldn't be nearly so attached to it without this.
And there are so many thing I love about it, from the dialogue and critical cut ins to the cut scenes that start the game, but these are my 5 favorite things.

Hubert, you always look so tired. Do you need a nap?
Tumblr media
Still no. Regardless of how often or how many of you ask, the answer will remain the same. It’s safer, in fact, to assume that I do not need rest if I am not resting. Truly, I’m starting to wonder if all of you collectively believe that I’m entirely incapable of something so fundamental despite all evidence to the contrary.
Do I not achieve results? Am I leaving duties untended to? There simply is no reason to be so concerned when my performance as a general and minister have been consistently above expectations. If your intentions are to offend me, congratulations. You’ve accomplished your task.
Now is only to find out how severely you’ll regret it.

Ten favorite characters from ten different things, tag ten people.  Tagged by @ailinu, thank you SO MUCH!
I’ve done this ask game before, and I’m glad to have another crack at it because I was disappointed with my list last time. I love all of those characters, but I didn’t explain why and you could tell I was confused about what I wanted to value in a character. Let me tell you, it’s the hardest ask game I’ve ever done, because I have to ask myself, “Does this character appeal to me on a personal level, or are they well-written?”
Sometimes the answer is both, but mostly it’s one or another,
Consider this list an exploration of that, and a sliding scale. 1-3 are pretty firmly in the ‘pleases me’ side of the scale, while 4-7 are sliding closer towards ‘well-written, not as personally appealing’, and 8-10 fit both of those categories.
1) Hubert von Vestra from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Do I think this edgy goth is all that well-written? Not especially. Did I dedicate over 30,000 words and a month of my life to a character study of him? Oh yeah.
2) Lucius Vorenus & Titus Pullo from Rome (HBO). They are a set! Do not separate! They kill things and protect children, and they are literally the ‘Stupid + Thinks They’re Not Stupid But Is’ dynamic and they also have shitty relationships with women, goddammit HBO, and I just think they’re neat.
3) Dr. Leonord ‘Bones’ McCoy from Star Trek. True TOS personality test, who did you first stan when watching the show, and who do you stan now? For me, it was Spock -> McCoy, and you know what that is (in my case!)? Growth.
4) Sanji, from One Piece. This boy is a weird one, because he’s so well written at times that it’s a real shame that he’s so BADLY written at times. But, he’s soft and smokes and does the floppy hair thing and loves his pirate dad. Do you feel that suit? That’s SON material.
5) Jem Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. Scout is basically my grandmother, and I’ve always really associated this book with her and her childhood in the deep south. Jem, though, is my favorite character from the book, and I think his growth is amazingly written (cough, I’m a ‘Truman Capote wrote the book’ conspiracy theorist, cough).
6) Roy Mustang, from Fullmetal Alchemist. There is literally nothing I love more than ambition in a character, but the dirty kind that knows it’s dirty. Which is why I need to really sink my teeth into Finrod soon.
7) Blanche Dubois, from A Streetcar Named Desire. Talk about a play that fucked me up when I read it. Blanche is so tragic; I can’t say I like her, but I do feel awful for her and I understand exactly what Williams was getting at with her. And understanding a character deeply and intrinsically is all you can ask from a piece of fiction imo.
8) Andreth, from the Silmarillion. She and Aegnor MAKE ME SAD! Moth and the flame speech gets me every time. The humanity of it all.
9) Michael Corleone from The Godfather (movies, I’ve never read the book). Catch me watching Godfather II on New Years Eve, drinking red wine, crying about how I’d be a good mobwife.
10) Yennefer of Vengerberg, from The Witcher (tv show, as I’ve not read the books). I spent the whole show rooting for her. I wasn’t sure I liked Yennefer, but I knew I would if the writing just delivered on what I was promised. It delivered, and that last episode was amazing. It hit me hard, and I came out of it 100% ride or die for Yennefer. Tbh, if the whole show was about Yennefer I probably would have liked it more.
Geez, ten people? Okay, okay, please feel free to ignore or answer at your leisure. @eccentricmya, @zealouswerewolfcollector, @this-is-menegroth, @curufins-smile, @plantro-naut, @eigwayne, @bluedancingkittykat, @elanna-elrondiel, @arofili, @huanhoundofvalinor

Will the Church be rebuilt after the war? And if Serios/Rhea is dead, will it be renamed?
Tumblr media
We haven’t condemned the religion. It’s simply not allowed to maintain an army or hold any political power. Whether it’s rebuilt or not is neither here nor there. If the worshippers still wish to convene, they may do so at their local chapels or other community areas. A field will suffice.
As for renaming it... Hm. I imagine Byleth would have more of a say in that than anyone else. My assumption would be to call it the Church of Sothis, at least, but as I’m not among the faithful, I can’t see how my opinion would matter.
Repugnant as Rhea is, we have no reason to erase her from history. She did not follow her own teachings, exploiting her followers instead and willfully denying them education and tools in order to maintain their obedience. No matter the cost to our lives. If churchgoers wish to distance themselves from that legacy, I would understand the sentiment. If not, and they wish to honor the memory of her fabricated persona, that is their choice.
While this may encourage a rebellion, that is something we are prepared for without engaging in the same censure and oppression as that tyrant.

Ok Hubert I want to ask you something. Can I please give you a kiss? It wouldn’t be on the lips it would be a peck on the cheek. But if you don’t than I will not give you a kiss. It’s just that I heard a little rumor that you use a special soap that contains poison and I wanted to see if it’s true or not.
Tumblr media
If this rumor was true, it would surely be fatal. Your methods for testing your suspicions must be more forward-thinking than that. What would you do if you were poisoned? Surely, you can’t count on me sparing your life. You know my reputation for ruthlessness. If I’ve poisoned you, it was for a legitimate reason.
So no. You may not. Do be mindful to choose your tests more wisely in the future, so that a rare act of mercy won’t be all that separates you from an untimely demise.

Should humans fear nabateans because of their dragon forms and powers or should it be the other way around, with nabateans having being almost easily extinct due to increased technology the humans possessed (due to sothis teachings, what an epic backfire)?
Tumblr media
Fear is the weapon of the subjugated against their oppressors, and vice versa. In an ideal world, neither one would fear the other. But, if fear must be present, then the Nabateans should tremble at the mere thought of confronting humanity again. Their dragon forms and powers have limits, no matter what they may believe. Human ingenuity and persistence, however? That is a resource of infinite capacity.
We may lose battles. We lost them for centuries, in fact. But we were always meant to win the overarching war. Even if we technically lost it, there would be no undoing the damage we’ve done to the Church’s reputation. She could not stave off the downfall of her fake religion.
The technology was only the means with which the Agarthans turned against the Nabateans, ironic as it was for it to be provided by Sothis. When Rhea later sought to oppress the growth of technology, she still has not succeeded in overcoming humanity. Our fight employs what little we have, and it is our determination and strategies that will see us to victory.
