Apple has been fined €1.8bn (£1.5bn) by the EU for breaking competition laws over music streaming.
The firm had prevented streaming services from informing users of payment options outside the Apple app store, the European Commission said.
Competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager said Apple abused its dominant position in the market for a decade.
She ordered the US tech giant to remove all the restrictions. Apple has said it will appeal against the decision.
The European Commission's decision was triggered by a complaint by Swedish music streaming service Spotify, which was unhappy about the restriction and Apple's 30% fee..
Ms Vestager said Apple had restricted "developers from informing consumers about alternative, cheaper music services available outside of the Apple ecosystem".
"This is illegal under EU antitrust rules," she said.
However, Apple said it would appeal, adding there was no evidence consumers had been harmed.
"The decision was reached despite the Commission's failure to uncover any credible evidence of consumer harm, and ignores the realities of a market that is thriving, competitive, and growing fast," the company said in a statement.
"The primary advocate for this decision, and the biggest beneficiary, is Spotify, a company based in Stockholm, Sweden.
"Spotify has the largest music streaming app in the world, and has met with the EC [European Commission] more than 65 times during this investigation," it said.
Spotify attacks Apple's 'outrageous' 27% commission
Spotify called the fine handed out to Apple "an important moment" and said it sent "a powerful message" that "no company, not even a monopoly like Apple, can wield power abusively to control how other companies interact with their customers".
Apple said the Swedish company pays no commission to them as it sells its subscriptions on its website and not on the app store.
Spotify had argued that the restrictions benefit Apple's rival music streaming service, Apple Music.
Digital Markets Act
In January, Apple announced plans to allow EU customers to download apps outside of their own app store, as the introduction of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) drew closer.
The aim of the European Union's DMA is to help competition in the technology sector and to try to break down the stronghold the likes of Apple and Google have on the market.
The tech companies were given six months from August last year to comply with a full list of requirements under the new legislation, or face a fine of up to 10% of their annual turnover.
The firms have until later this week to comply with a raft of changes announced since the start of the year, as Apple, Meta and TikTok pursue challenges to aspects of the law.
Law professor at EDHEC, Anne Witt, told the BBC the DMA will have a "significant impact" on the way designated platforms operate within the EU.
"It is a more effective but also much blunter legal tool in the fight against market concentration in the digital economy," she said.
Last week, Spotify and 33 other companies operating across a wide range of digital sectors wrote to the European Commission with a renewed attack on Apple's "lack of compliance" with the DMA.
"Apple's new terms not only disregard both the spirit and letter of the law, but if left unchanged, make a mockery of the DMA and the considerable efforts by the European Commission and EU institutions to make digital markets competitive," it said.

Day Nineteen: Shopping Trip (John, Rodney, Teyla & Ronon)
It's the small things that become annoyances when Atlantis is grounded in San Francisco. Getting a phone plan without explaining why they'd been "out of the country" for five years, a bank card because all of theirs were expired, and housing that wasn't attuned to their every move like Atlantis was.
Luckily, the government helped them with most things - Teyla and Ronon being given official IDs and passports with a strange amount of ease - and they're all shocked when they can finally check their bank accounts to see how much money had accumulated.
"Holy shit," John muttered, mirroring Rodney at the next ATM with a grin on his face. "Gathering interest isn't just a myth."
"Well, I suppose this is sufficient for the amount for the danger we were in and the work we did," was the curt response, but John can hear Rodney humming as he pulled out fresh hundred dollar notes from the machine and put them in his rarely-used wallet.
After talking Ronon and Teyla through the process of automated banking, John turned to the three of them, his hands on his hips. "Well, I suppose now we go shopping."
"Shopping?" Teyla's eyes lit up. "I suppose I do need some more Earth-like clothing."
John waved his hand, grinning. "I'll leave that for Sam to help you with, or Amelia and Jennifer - for today, we fill our houses with the bounty of Trader Joe's."
"Trader Joe's? Sounds like some outpost somewhere," Ronon said, sounding suspicious.
Rodney sighed. "It's a supermarket, which -" he paused and looked at the sky. "I suppose is kind of like a trading outpost, just more expensive and hideously American."
"I'm sorry we have to offend your Canadian senses being stuck in San Fran, but I missed Trader Joe's and Teyla and Ronon need to experience something a little higher end than Wal-Mart for their first grocery shopping experience."
Rodney shrugged and crossed his arms, a sure sign John had won; victoriously he lead them to the SUV the government had organised for them to use whilst on Earth and drove them to the nearest store.
The smell was overwhelming - like coming home, and John knows like most expats (were they expats?), food was the thing he missed the most. The lights, the sounds, the ambience, he turns to his group and opens his arms in glee. "Trader Joe's lady and gentlemen. Grab a cart, we're gonna need one."
"Cart?" Teyla looks confused, and Rodney sighs, taking a cart from the stack at the door opening and handing it to her. "Oh, you push it and put the food inside it, clever." She began pushing it, obviously enjoying it from the outset. "There's a seat for Torren, too!"
"Okay, what do you guys want to eat?" John asked, clapping his hands together.
"Meat."
"Vegetables and grains."
"Coffee."
Expected responses, and they began to navigate the aisles deftly, filling the cart with both functional and whimsical items ("Joe O's?" Ronon asked, holding up the box. "Are they made of Joes?" "It's cereal and you'll love it, put it in the cart.").
Eventually, the cart overflowing, they reached the end of the aisles and Teyla and Rodney both looked vaguely overextended. "This is a lot of food, Sheppard, do we need this much?"
Smiling and ignoring Rodney's sharp tone - the dude wasn't a "shopper", his words - "our houses are empty, and now we check out."
"Check out is where we purchase the items?" Teyla ventured. John nodded. "Much easier than trading. And we use the card Woolsey gave us to pay?"
"Pay way too much," Rodney grumbled, but helped John load the copious amounts of food onto the conveyer belt. "Next time we hit Wal-Mart or Target."
"Is there booze?" Ronon asks suddenly, and John pulls him back to the register.
"We'll get some on the way back to the apartments, get your cards ready."
Finally, the checkout girl finished ringing them up - annoyed they wanted to use four different payments, naturally - but eventually they found themselves in the bright light of day, the typical Trader Joe's eco bags a sign of success.
They head for the car, and Teyla speaks. "John?"
"Hmmm?"
"How do we cook this food?"
John began loading the bags into the back of the SUV and ignored Rodney's smothered chuckle. Earth was going to be a learning curve for all of them, but it was going to be worth it until they could reach the Pegasus Galaxy again.

Who's the more disturbed cannibal, Banica or Mai Shishikusa?
Thanks for asks!
Well, both of them are disturbing cannibals.. ..I feel like Mai Shishikusa would be more terrifying, because she ate people on purpose (she made it with her parents O_o), while Banica was possessed by Demon of Gluttony (she signed of contract with him, so she would eat as much as she wanted, and wouldn't get fat, i can be wrong). Besides, i don't think that Mai felt guilty for her actions at least once. I mean, look at these eyes and tell me if she feels guilty about her amoral actions. /sarc
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Banica, besides that she is a cannibal, i feel like that she felt a bit guilty about her actions, that were made not on purpose but on eternal animal hunger. She made it with man, whom she loved (the card from PjSk flawlessly showed her emotions - deep down, she blame herself for doing it (single eyedrop from left eye), but can't do nothing against it, so she kept doing it, just to finally satisfy her inner hunger as a payment to be always slimy).. The fact, that she fights with her inner bloodthirsty beast and refuses to eat a child from Carlos' shows, and instead of baby - she chooses an autophagia way - it is both terrifying and mindblowing.
Tumblr media
Folks! I can be wrong about MASA and EC lore, so if i made mistakes about interpretating characters - write me!

Fluffy February (Catching Up) #20: Partners
SWTOR
Rating: PGish
Time: KotFE
Pairing: Theron Shan/Eva Corolastor
Words: 875
~~
“Hey, Spike.”  Eva’s voice crackled over the comm.  She suspected the shadow had been him, but she had to confirm it.
Using the “Spy Guy” nickname from the Holochat would have been a bit obvious; using Bowie’s alternative was a better plan.
 “What’s new, darling?”
So was using a far, far less obvious nom de guerre than “EC” (which strangely still worked in a remarkable number of places).
At the word “darling,” Eva let the corner of her lip pull up slightly but no more.  They were on a job, and Theron had just confirmed it was him, far up and away.  She refocused her attention on the safe that the old omnitool was cracking, one binary digit at a time.  “Doing a little bit of shopping.  Waiting for a store to open up.  Think the owner is on a caf break.”
“At this time of the night, you would think.”  A shift of high-tech stealth fabric, the filaments scraping on duracrete. “I was just going for a run.  Never have time anymore, what with work being as it is.”
“Don’t tell me I’m not getting your heart-rate up enough for that high-intensity thing you do…” Eva taunted him.
“You aren’t around all the time –”
“I could be if you –”
Just then the omnitool sang its note of completion and unlatched itself from the safe door.
“Should I take it that you’re buying something nice and expensive?”
Eva opened the safe door, carefully, and used one of Theron’s gadgets to scan for surveillance, weight sensors, and laser deployments within the lead-lined safe. “We’ll see in a minute,” she muttered under her breath.  “Gotta do some viewport shopping.”
Theron cut the comm, giving her the silence she needed to do the checks properly.
Anyone who sliced their comms or intercepted their signal would assume they were just romantic partners.
Not partners in crime.
Part the business of Very Awful Things (VAT), LLC, included corporate espionage and theft of various data and prototypes.  Theron was looking for Akaavi and Risha, the other proprietors…but since they had been good smugglers who disappeared, the LLC name had been disused since the last job they’d done (a little moonlighting thing while running something for Marr, after Ziost, before Eternal Fleet).  No tax filings, no indication of the disposition of the owners.
Maybe when Eva filed taxes this year, that would perk Risha’s attention.
Until then, Eva was going to use VAT as a contractor for Odessen’s less than benevolent business.  Although Theron had indicated he was less enthusiastic about the very not nice things VAT did, corporations weren’t people, and the acquisition of tech for the Alliance would be for the great good of the galaxy.
When Eva had asked him about payment as a subcontractor for VAT, LLC, he’d just grunted.  She was sure she’d be able to compensate him for his time.
The checks finished, all green.  Eva carefully extended her left hand ---
And nothing happened.
She carefully grasped the device, shaped like a dodecahedron (“a 20-point word!” crowed Corso, in her mind).  She lifted its base off the floor of the safe and paused.  Waited.  Nothing.
She withdrew her hand, not too slow.  Not too fast.
Eva’s ears rang in the silence, a sign of too many high-octane adventures.  Her eyes dropped to look at what she had retrieved.  It matched the schematics and the surveillance holos that Theron had acquired.  She gave it a slight lift.  Weight was right – the same as Dr. O’s flimsi-weight.
Even through the tinnitus, Eva could hear something click or move outside of the room.  Could have been the building settling.  Could have been the heat turning on.  Didn’t matter.  She had to go.
Eva shoveled the device into the specially designed interior pocket of her catsuit, off to the side, right where a shoulder holster would rest if she was carrying that day.  It slotted in neatly, and then Eva was out the window.
She planted her left hand on the outside of the transparisteel window and, using the activated webbing, swung herself around the window sill.  The second that she felt her feet secure to the side of the building (right hand unknown), Eva pushed off and the window slid shut.  With a gesture, the locks reactivated, as if she’d never been there.
“Ready to go home?”
Eva’s head tilted up toward the voice.
As planned, Theron waited for her exit, perched just below the window ledge, the webbing on his stealth suit activated as well.  He’d covered her with his sniper rifle from the building across the street, and as extraction grew near, he’d migrated to their departure point.
“Thanks for picking me up.  We going to my place?” she asked as she raised her right hand toward him.
Theron reached beyond the hand to grab at her elbow and hauled her up the side of the building.  “It’s the place with the food.”
With ease, Theron quickly climbed up and over the ledge, turning to grasp Eva’s left forearm and bring her up the rest of the way, her feet touching down on the roof neatly into front of his own.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
Anyone listening in could guess how they greeted each other.

Okay lads, in case anyone is going to German comic con in Essen this year, here's some information about the event. I emailed them some questions I had and thought it might be a good idea to share.
Here's what they said about...
Bag policy: "You are welcome to bring a bag"
Schedule for meet and greet & panels: "The schedule will be posted one to two weeks before the event. It shows who is doing the panels, when the photo shoots and meet and greets are."
Autograph signings: "The autograph times are not listed. The guest signs autographs between the times." (in between panels and photo ops I'm guessing)
Vegan food options at the venue: "I cannot say whether there will be vegan food and I also cannot say whether there are restaurants nearby that offer it." (Any vegans on here that have suggestions on places to eat are welcome to add to this post!)
Card payments at the event: "Since the internet is not that good in the hall, our EC card devices will not work, so it is best to have cash with you."
Water stations: "There are no water stations at the event where you can fill up your bottles."
Reblog to spread the word!

Februar 2023
"... Was heißt denn auf einmal?"

How do you apply for a Synchrony credit card?
Tumblr media
Synchrony is a major issuer of store-branded credit cards, and there are several ways to apply for a Synchrony credit card, depending on the card you're interested in. Here are some of the most common methods:
In-Store: You can apply for a Synchrony credit card at participating retailers by filling out an application at the point of sale.
Online: You can visit the Synchrony website and search for the card you're interested in. From there, you can follow the link to the card's online application, where you'll be asked to provide information such as your personal details, income, and employment information.
By Phone: You can call the customer service number listed on the Synchrony website and apply over the phone with a customer service representative.
Regardless of the method you choose, you will typically be required to provide information such as your personal details, income, and employment information, as well as the details of any co-applicants if you are applying with a joint account.
It's important to carefully review the terms and conditions of the card you're interested in before applying, and to make sure you understand any fees, interest rates, and rewards or benefits associated with the card. Additionally, you may want to compare different credit card offers from Synchrony and other issuers to find the card that best fits your needs.

I am livid... A year ago (2.11.2021) I had to let my sick cat be put to sleep. I immediately payed by EC Card because I really didn’t want to have to deal with the bill afterwards and so I wouldn’t forget it or whatever... A few months later I got a bill from the animal clinic. I wrote them an email that I had payed that bill. No reaction, no answer, no  overdue reminder, nothing. So I thought they found the receipt of the payment. Well, apparently not. It took them 11 months to send another letter with the same fucking bill and the answer that they hadn’t found any receipts... I looked at my account statements from that date and of course it was payed. I am really itching to call them but I know the person at the phone will probably not be responsible and I know I couldn’t keep calm and would yell at the wrong person... I’m gonna write them another strongly worded email with a copy of the account statement... I am so fucking angry at them. And then they had the fucking audacity to write in the letter to pay the bill so they can continue to take good care of my animal. MY ANIMAL IS FUCKING DEAD YOU FUCKERS!!! THE BILL IS FOR THE EUTHANASIA YOU STUPID IDIOTS!
