When Emily Andras decided to make Nicole Haught a main character and gave Katherine Barrell a credit in the opening titles in Season 3, that’s when I fell in love with ‘Wynonna Earp’. I mean it was a great show to watch before then, don’t get me wrong. But it’s just so hard and so rare to get any WLW/queer characters as main characters these days in TV art/entertainment without either the show being immediately cancelled or that character/the character that that character loves being immediately killed off. Look at ‘Warrior Nun’ with Ava and Beatrice. As soon as there was canonship between those main characters - cancelled. No Season 3 renewal. Look at ‘First Kill’ with Juliette and Calliope - cancelled. After only 1 season where they didn’t even have any sort of closure to the relationship that they had. In fact they had a massive traumatizing break up. That’s how they ended the show because it couldn’t be renewed for a 2nd season. Netflix outright refused to give them any opportunity for reconciliation. That’s been the way it is recently in the TV art/entertainment industry with network and streaming service TV shows with canon WLW ships. Either that or by one or both in the WLW ship being killed off or being separated from each other. Just a colossal unsuccessful and unsatisfying endgame for WLW/queer female main characters over and over again. That’s all that ever seems to happen!
So ‘Wynonna Earp’ (even though it was also cancelled in its 3rd season but the fans rallied and fought so fucking hard for a 4th season that they had to uncancel it) has been one of the very few TV shows that survived and succeeded in actually consistently providing WLW representation between queer female main characters. WayHaught are a canon WLW ship in a supernatural/fantasy show that got a happy ending.
But when Emily Andras made the decision to make the side/season regular/recurring character, Nicole Haught, a main character after a straight POC male character, Deputy Marshal Xavier Dolls, had died because Shamier Anderson wanted to leave the show (he got an absolutely amazing send off by the way), that’s when I really fell in love with all this show was because imagine how hard Andras had to fight for it. To get Katherine Barrell in the opening titles. I’m sure it was a no-brainer for Andras from the get-go to do this but the SYFY network was a whole battle, wasn’t it? Because from their perspective, apparently you just don’t do that. You don’t have WLW/queer female main characters that are in a canon committed relationship/romance story arc along with their own individual character representation and development main narrative arcs. That’s absolutely not the status quo so that must be prevented at all costs. And if it ever makes it, immediately do something to stop it. Cancel the show or kill one or both of them off. Just make sure that WLW/queer ships do not happily end.
So the entire ‘Wynonna Earp’ team and its amazingly dedicated Earper community fanbase achieved what is essentially impossible. Not only consistently provide WLW/queer representation through a beloved canon committed WLW relationship/romance story arc between queer females that are both main characters with their own respective individual main narratives. But also have them end successfully and satisfyingly. It’s the hardest and rarest thing to achieve these days but they somehow pulled it off in this… what I can only honestly call a WLW-phobic TV art/entertainment industry because they refuse to allow it to happen.
I absolutely fucking love ‘Wynonna Earp’ and its creators/cast/crew/community now because it’s given me something that I’ve never had before that means more to me than I could ever communicate in words that I will be most grateful for for the rest of my life:
4 seasons worth of a supernatural/fantasy TV show with 2 queer female main characters in with their own respective individual character representation and development main narratives that are in a longtime WLW/queer canon committed romantic relationship that have a successful and satisfying endgame in that they end in the show as a happily married couple with their whole lives ahead of them and so much more to look forward to on the horizon despite the dangerous and harsh environment that they live in as is often the case in supernatural/fantasy Universes.
If ‘WYNONNA EARP’ can provide that level of WLW/queer representation, then every show can provide it. There’s no excuses. They’ve just got to battle like hell to provide it. And they will if they’re dedicated enough. If they’re as adamant as Andras and know how best to make the people that want it (which is more than you think) wrap their entire support system around it. It’s very hard but it’s very possible. Clearly. ‘Cause Andras and the entire ‘Wynonna Earp’ team and community proved it through WayHaught.

At Earp Expo, at one panel the cast was asked by an anonymous Earper how to spice up their love life. Kat said "Put all the rooms in your house in a hat and randomly pick one. Do it in that room." Can you write a prompt based on that? Wayhaught eventually does it in all the rooms using this idea.
ok this is probably Waverly's idea tbh
like I feel like she found this idea online
or that she gets this idea bc Wynonna joked that the pair "did it in every room"
anyways one day when everyone was out of the house besides Wayhaught
Waverly goes up to Nicole and suggests that they: "put all the rooms in a hat and randomly pick one, then do it in that room."
Nicole looks at Waverly for a moment, thinks about it, and agrees
bc lbr that's a pretty good idea and was surprised that they didn't think about it earlier
so Nicole gets her stenton as Waverly writes all the rooms done
they both get super excited and can't wait to pull out the room
after they get everything set up and mix up the rooms in the hat
they pick out the room and they were kinda surprised bc they realized they had never done it in the room before
somehow they picked something random the home office or the laundry room
which you would think they had done it before but they did not
so without missing a heartbeat, Waverly pulls Nicole to that room
and they start taking off each other's clothes
before they knew it they were in that room, already on the floor
lbr they get pretty rough and they spend hours, soon day turn to night
finally, when they are done, they were both covered in marks and scratches
they just spend time on the floor giggling and smiling, they realized how much fun they had and they were glad that Waverly had the idea
Bonus: Wynonna comes home and hears the pair, and in the most Wynonna way she interrupts them
which cause Wayhaught to be mad but they were used to this

It's my 5 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
Wow that’s crazy how time flies! I can’t believe it has been 5 years since I became an Earper and I created this account just so I could gush about how much I love WayHaught🙈 shortly after I got on Tumblr I started writing fanfiction and it brought back to life my love of writing and my creativity.
If you miss Wynonna Earp and haven’t gotten a chance to read my works yet, She Likes Girls on AO3 is a completed work! And I have a few one shots posted there too. Let me know if you get a chance to check them out or have read them before🥰

Wow. Yeah, I think this just goes to show how backwards and twisted we’ve actually got it as a majority social community or a collective consciousness if oppression and suppression seems to be the grave treatment of every and all minorities.
So many famous people (which I do consider a ‘minority’) - actors, singers, writers, philanthropists - are coming out and coming home to their true authentic selves because of how much the art/entertainment industry just restricts and limits them.
To hear Dom speak about their journey and experience all the while living in the spotlight as a famous actor and talking about how much fear and shame and anxiety they felt at being able to live authentically. I won’t lie - I welled up a bit because I can imagine that it is much more difficult for famous people to do this knowing they have a reputation and they don’t want to let anyone down or make them feel alienated. But at the end of the day, they’re human beings too and they need to be able to express themselves as they truly are just as much as we non-famous people do. And at the end of the day art/entertainment is made to express, not impress. Appeasing others is overrated - and whether conscious or not - is a violence of self.
I’m very proud of Dom for being brave and strong enough in heart to do what must have been the most difficult thing they’ve ever done as a human being on this planet - and to do it publicly and transparently as their journey into self-acceptance and self-love continues. I assume that Kat helped them since she came out first and was immediate support for them. And I know that the LGBTQ Earpers rallied behind Dom immediately too. They’re not alone and never will be. It’s an intimidating journey but well worth treading through and on until we get to our most authentic self.
As Tracy said - you could live most of your life and still keep realizing and learning things about yourself. So the journey never ends. It just becomes less scary because at that point you’ve experienced enough life to know how best to navigate through it. Or so I’m told. I don’t know how true that is being young myself. I am where Dom is at. 30-something year old and constantly being thrown left, right and center by the Universe because it wants me to come home to it. And I trust my higher self to guide and direct me onwards.
Sometimes I think that this confusing LGBTQ stuff really is just a way to help us come home to our truth as human beings after being so estranged from it and forgetting that we are just as much a part of the Universe as a star or planet is. We’re not separated. We just live as if we are and it’s completely wrong.
I believe all this “starting the wave” business really is just us aligning with our fundamental beginnings again because we’ve strayed so far from that very process due to centuries of lies and betrayals and repressions. We lost the plot a bit. So now we’re coming back to it one step at a time because it’s what the Universe or God or whatever higher power we believe in asks of us in order to heal the wounds that we’ve caused and effected in us all as a collective consciousness. And we’ve come so far but we have got so very far to go.
I am obviously very supportive of the LGBTQ community and part of it myself as a bisexual but I do think we rely on it too much to recognize and define ourselves. We’re letting the letters be the experience instead of allowing the experience to carry us through. I genuinely feel that people are far too caught up on the labels of identity and sexuality and not living them. The experiences and interactions that simultaneously lift us up higher and ground us when we need them to. I talk about gender identity and sexuality a lot but I very rarely ever use the labels because I just don’t think they’re all that relevant to the process of coming out and coming home to our true authentic selves and I think eventually when we’re wiser as a collective consciousness, we will discard the labels and letters because we will no longer need them to be authentic and align ourselves with what we’re supposed to be before all the bullshit pushed us so far away from it.
Gender identity and sexuality is but a crossroads on the journey of spirit. It’s what we have to cross to get to the other side where we’re really meant to be. We can and will use it for the meanwhile, but ultimately we’ll just leave it behind like everything else we do. If it’s what people need to elevate themselves in their evolution, that’s great because it’s certainly a step in the right direction. But I just know that it won’t last. Whether lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer… or any other word or term of reference, it doesn’t matter as much as we seem to think that it does. We will eventually get to this understanding and drop it and instead just allow ourselves to be human beings.

That was great!
So glad Nicole stopped Waverly, Doc was cured and everyone is OK.
Wee bit worried about what might happen next week though.
What did Dark Waverly read in her book?
What does being the Angel's Shield entail other than Nicole not being able to leave the Ghost River Triangle?
Is Billy the Clanton heir now or has that ended?
Will the remaining Clantons just die when they die?
Are the reapers just mortal magpies now?
Will next week be the final ever episode?
Even if it does, I hope the fandom endures.

There were ghosts in the halls. So many ghosts.
Achingly far in the eyes, but never still.
Ghosts of the currently living. And she was alone with her ghosts.
Most days she’d wake, in the great empty house, to find light cutting through the curtains, spilling onto the floor. It brought warmth. And she’d dance down the long hall. Sending up clouds of dust at her feet. Orchestras of memories that flurried about her step, always to settle back down into the wood grain.
Somedays she would dance with her ghosts. A great romping, jumpy sort of display, that brough a frantic joy to one end, and an empty finish.
When the living did call, she’d see life- ever so briefly- in the eyes of the portraits above the mantle.
But then night would come.
And the house would be still.
And the ghosts would be loud.
They’d shake the walls. They’d rattle the candles above the furnace. And at the main door, she’d wait for a knock that never came.
Until again morning would arrive.
Sending stubborn light back through the windows.
“Choose a partner for the day,” screamed the light.
“There are ghosts in these halls. So many ghosts.”
