I think the reason people disliked Elain quite heavily after ACOSF is the fact that she invalidated Nesta’s trauma multiple times in a each interaction. Whether that was throwing Nesta’s mistakes back in her face unprovoked or telling Nesta to essentially get over whatever her problem is. Paired with the fact that Elain wanted to literally die in the previous book for months in end, but Nesta who was forcefully removed from her house and placed in the same one that contains a lot of trauma for her, is told by Elain to get over her problems after only properly trying to sort through them for about a week or two.
You’re correct in the sense that Nesta said harsh things to Elain, to say otherwise is going against canon text, the difference is that Nesta is never said to be kind or understanding or gentle, compared to Elain where those are the only words used to describe her 99% of the time. It seems that the only characteristics and/or characterization SJM gave Elain which differentiates her from other characters in the series is untrue, as she hasn’t been empathetic, kind, gentle, understanding, etc to her 2 sisters even though they have been towards her.
I just wanna offer my perspective on some of the things you mentioned here! Because I know that Elain is a contentious character right now and while she isn't my favorite, I think it's interesting to see why people feel the way they do about her, especially when those feelings are so strong.
FYI, none of this is pro or anti any characters, I like all the sisters.
I don't remember Elain ever invalidating Nesta's trauma. Elain's main statement about trauma was about her own and how everyone ignores it, just assuming that she's nice and fine all the time because she isn't causing a scene about it. I know that some people really dislike when Elain says that Nesta isn't trying - but that comes after Nesta has been a complete bitch to push Elain away, intentionally. And it hadn't been a couple of weeks at that point, that was months and months after acowar, more than nine months after the end of that book. She'd only been at the House for a couple of weeks, but that is a long, long way into Nesta's downward spiral. The last time they had seen each other, Nesta walked right by and ignored her. Elain went to the House in the first place to try to make peace.
When they have their infamous fight, nothing Elain said was untrue. Maybe it was harsh, but similarly to Amren they needed to be said. Nesta was drinking herself into oblivion. Then Nesta is the one making the low blow bringing up Graysen. And Nesta getting mad that Elain and Feyre had talked about her? Like, in what world would that NOT happen? That's about Nesta's ego and her immaturity at thinking Elain had decided to change allegiances, when really there weren't allegiances being made. Nesta was intentionally rude to Elain and then when Elain tries to reach out, Nesta ignores her. Then she has the gall to say that Elain "chose" Feyre?
And then when Elain tries to reassure Nesta that she wasn't at fault for their father's death, Nesta lashes out even worse. And again, we know that Elain is 100% right! This is a huge trauma that Nesta has to overcome in the book, but she isn't ready to hear that yet. Especially not from her sister who seems to have properly grieved his death, which apparently Nesta is bitter about too.
While the people around Elain see her as being gentle and understanding, it's not in a positive light. Mama Archeron saw her as "a doll to be dressed up", she was their father's princess, Nesta calls her a dog, Feyre calls her a "nice companion". None of those are things I would want my family, or people who truly know me and love me, to call me.
So I think your last point, about Elain always being called those things but then not always acting that way, that's either the fault of the people who can't see any deeper, or the fault of sjm for being inconsistent in her writing. The only other alternative is that Elain is actually a manipulative bitch, and I can't see that being true. I would argue that she has been kind to her sisters, but that's maybe another post. She keeps reaching out her hand to Nesta, after all, until Nesta finally bites it so hard that she can't do it anymore. And I don't blame her.
I can see those scenes being read differently, especially if people identify with Nesta more than Elain. We all have our own lines about what kind of behavior or actions we do and don't accept. Personally, I identify more with Elain because of this last point I want to address!
So this thing you said here:
Nesta is never said to be kind or understanding or gentle, compared to Elain where those are the only words used to describe her 99% of the time.
To me this indicates a bigger fandom trend, in which there are double standards regarding Nesta and Elain. This isn't just about what you said, but something I've mentioned before. Why is it okay for Nesta to be a bitch just because that's "who she is", but then Elain isn't allowed to stand up for herself ever? Why is the "nice" character held to such a higher standard? This is where I relate to Elain a lot. I try really hard, especially around people I don't know very well, to be kind and understanding. But the second - the second - I let that slip, people are freaking shocked pikachu and "how DARE you Leslie" and "you aren't the person I thought you were :(" (Literally, these things have been said to me when I get tired of being nice for a second.) And so that's what's happening to Elain, imo. She's supposed to be nice, and so people lose their shit when she is even slightly Not Nice. Meanwhile, Nesta (and people like Eris) are assholes all the time, and that's just whatever.
I don't know where this double standard comes from. It baffles me. I see it used when talking about Mor, too. She's a ray of kind sunshine, but the second she says something mean to Nesta she's the worst person ever. Then we have Nesta, who is actually and intentionally cruel on the regular, and... it's fine. I just... I really, really don't get it.
But again, the characterization and her actions could be a problem because either the characters don't care to dig deeper, or because SJM has been inconsistent. Given Elain's own words about people not seeing her and not considering how her trauma has impacted her, I'm going for the former (the characters don't really dig deeper).
Sorry this is so long but one last thing - I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion really, because liking a character (or not) is personal and doesn't really matter at the end of the day. I just think that there is a different way of viewing Elain, especially given the little evidence we have of who she is.

Vampires don't have blood quirks
Part one
This is a vampire!Iida au so the for blood and slight body horror (the engines)
Blood quirks were a very tricky topic to discuss; not only are they all dangerous and mostly useless quirks, but there's almost no way to become a hero using one. All this is without mentioning the fact that they aren't the only bloodsuckers around, the 0.05% of the population that have blood quirks doesn’t seem so bad when compared to the 0.2% of the population that aren’t even fully human. Vampires, ghouls, nosferatu- whatever you choose to call them, they’re dangerous and they’re terrifying and they look just like you or me.
They have existed before quirks, and all the existence of quirks had done to them was make them more powerful, as well as making it easier for them to hide. They aren’t allergic to the sun, that was a myth started by an author who ran out of things to say about them, the garlic allergy and the mirror thing are both real though. The mirror’s do have to be backed by silver for that to work though, as it was the silver that hid their image. Vampires are just stronger, faster people who age very well and live for a long time. The only thing that makes them scary was their taste for blood- specifically human.
They needed the blood to survive, although they could definitely survive off of animal blood. All that human death was mostly over a preference, vampires tended to feel entitled to that kind of treat due to how much more powerful they were then humans. That was what was running through Tenya Iida’s mind as he got out of bed that morning, it was a tragedy that so many had died for someone’s very expensive taste. Besides, in his humble opinion, there was nothing better than beef blood. Yeah… Iida was a vampire, and as he took his little juicebox of animal blood out of the minifridge under his bed, he wondered if he’d made any mistakes in his essay.
The essay was for english, they had to write about their favorite mythical creature, and as vampires weren’t believed in by most, Iida had written about his own kind. Was that egotistical? He had chosen to write about the specifics of blood and the traditions surrounding it; all framed like fiction of course. He had been careful to avoid personal opinions as he didn’t exactly feel like outing himself right now, he couldn’t even gauge how his classmates would react.
A knock at his door, “good morning Iida!” Ah, it was Midoriya, Iida enjoyed Midoriya’s company. He swallowed his mouthful of blood before replying, he didn’t want to spite it everywhere.
“Good morning Midoriya!”
He knew he was a little loud, but it was the morning; people were supposed to wake up. He was quickly getting dressed, the juice box emptied within seconds, he knew that Midoriya would want to speak to him face to face. Midoriya helpfully confirmed this by asking, “can I come in?”
“Not yet! I’m afraid I'm not yet decent!”
“Ah, okay!” Midoriya’s soft chuckle could be heard through the door, and the droplets of blood still on Tenya’s tongue felt too bitter, too stale. He could feel his own heart beating slowly, around a beat every two seconds. If he were human he’d be worried by this, but it was actually rather quick for him. He shook any sort of thought like that out of his head, finishing getting dressed as quickly as he could, opening the door.
The smile Midoriya gave him bumped Tenya’s heart rate up to one beat per second, he was glad it was near impossible for him to blush. He returned the smile and put a hand on Midoriya’s shoulder, “good morning Midoriya, I hope you’re well.”
“I’m doing good, thank you Iida. How are you feeling?”
“Me?” How was he feeling? Tenya wasn’t all too sure in honesty, he’d just woken up. “I’ll be honest Midoriya, I’m a little concerned about the essays, what did you do again?”
“Oh! I didn’t tell you, did I? I wrote about vampires!” Oh, oh dear. If the subject matter wasn’t enough, Midoriya’s smile was almost enough to make poor Tenya’s heart explode. He just stared down at the smaller boy for a little while, unsure how to react. “Uhh… Iida? Are you-”
“I wrote about vampires too!” He exclaimed, grabbing his essay to show Midoriya, “I wrote about the complex relationship between vampires and blood. What about you?”
“Oh!” Midoriya paused, “my essay’s in my room, but I wrote about how vampires have evolved throughout different eras of media.” He seemed happy, but still taken off guard, Tenya hoped Midoriya wouldn’t think him strange.
Moving to the bathroom, Tenya got to listen to Midoriya talk about all the interesting things he’d learnt during his research. It was lovely to hear about while he brushed his teeth, making sure to get all the way around his fangs, vampires had to take extra special care of their teeth due to the unusual shapes, he wondered if people with blood quirks had similar problems. “-and then I read the original dracula and he could turn into a wolf, so I wondered if vampires would be able to have quirks. I know the timeline wouldn’t match but but consider it, a vampire with a quirk would be-” Midoriya was still going, speaking at a pace that was hard to keep up with, but it was nice to hear his friend talking about his species, even in the realm of fantasy. At least Tenya knew that Midoriya would definitely have a lot of questions if he knew.
Tenya never ate breakfast, well he did technically, but he never ate the solid food that was prepared. He mostly just sat there, talking with his classmates about what they wrote. It seemed Hagakure had written about the invisible man and how mutation quirks were pre-demonized, a lot of the mutated classmates had gone for that angle in their essays, and Tenya couldn’t blame them; although engine was a mutation quirk, he hadn’t really had to face the kind of scorn that would have happened if it had affected his face in any way. He could, however, relate on two fronts; there were never any trousers that fit him correctly, it all had to be custom fitted, and as a vampire, he knew too well what it was like to be demonized and villainized. Luckily, it was easy enough for him to hide what he was, he did worry that people saw his fangs when he brushed his teeth, but Kirishima had those pointy teeth of his, so there was really nothing to worry about.
Bakugo and Momo had both written about werewolves; though Momo had gone the political route whilst Bakugo had just written about how ‘badass’ they were. Kaminari and Kirishima had written about pikachu and sharks respectively, no one had the heart to tell them they’d almost definitely fail this time. Tenya was just glad no one knew vampires were real, or both he and Midoriya would be in just as much trouble as Kirishima. Also Todoroki apparently? The half and half boy had also written about vampires, specifically about how they’re seen as the highest of high society and often large family units. Tenya assumed he was using it as an outlet for his own family issues, but it did sound like a very interesting essay. He personally didn’t think his family was any different from a human one, but he could see why more old-school families would be so elitist.
Homeroom was nothing too out of the ordinary, Mr Aizawa spoke to them about pressure from the public to do more normal school activities, so he warned them that some of their teachers would be gearing up for group projects, and to pray you get sorted into a good group. Tenya wondered a little about what kind of injuries that would cause, but he didn’t have time to think, as it was english next.
”GOOOOOOOD MOOOOORNNIIINNNGG CLAAAAASSS!!” in he came; Mr Yamada, also known as Present Mic, came walking into the class, putting a stack of papers on the desk. He took the voice modulator off and the students took their hands off their ears. Tenya, personally, didn’t mind the noise, as his engine made quite the roars at times. “I hope you all finished your essays! I’ll be coming around to collect them during the lesson!” he sighed, gazing over the class. Tenya stared up at him expectantly, wondering what their task for today might be. “So I was going to talk about how writing changes between the written word and spoken word, but Principal Nezu says we need to do group work, so I’m going to put you into five groups of four. You’re going to pick a creature from the list I’m putting on the board, then I’ll tell you the project.” He then turned and grabbed the chalk, writing down the names of five different mythical creatures;
Fairies…
Mermaids/Sirens…
Werewolves…
Yokai…
Vampires…
Of course it was up there, it had to be. Tenya was just surprised it wasn’t higher on the list, he hoped he’d get that one, he was never one for fiction. Mr Yamda turned back to them, “raise your hands if you did a project on fairies?”
Both Aoyama and Sato raised their hands, Mr Yamada nodded, writing their name next to the word fairies, “Aaaallllriiiiiight! You two can be in a group, we’ll figure out who to add afterwards. How about mermaids, who did them?”
Jirou raised her hand and… oh dear, so did Mineta. “I did sirens sir, they-”
“Sir can I go to a different group?”
“I’m afraid not Jirou, I can’t do that. Don’t worry though, you won’t have to deal with him alone.” Poor Jirou, Tenya couldn’t imagine how she must be feeling at that moment, it must be horrible. “Who did werewolves?” Both Momo and Bakugo raised their hands, glancing at each other. They both already knew what the other had done, but now they were regretting everything. “OOOooOOOOOoooHHHhh!! This one’s gonna be good, I can tell!” Mr Yamada laughed, writing their names down. “Yokai anyone?” Tokoyaki and Ojiro both raised their hands, they’d used Yokai to talk about how mutations were treated by the general public. “I should have known,” he chuckled as he wrote those names on the board, smiling as he turned back to the class, “now how many of you did vampires?”
Tenya raised his hand, straight up in the air, he smiled proudly as he saw Midoriya hesitantly raise his hand and Todoroki barely lifted his hand high enough to be noticed. Mr Yamada nodded, rolling his eyes fondly, “oh dear, I pity whoever gets grouped with you three.” Tenya wasn’t entirely sure what he meant, but he said nothing as he watched Mr Yamada write their names on the board. “Alright kids, so who wants to cover fairies with Aoyama and Sato?”
A few hands were raised and eventually every student was in a group, the person who was put in Tenya’s group alongside himself, Midoriya and Todoroki was Uraraka. It was perfect, she was someone they all enjoyed spending time with. It was then that Mr Yamada turned to the class, ready to announce what the project was, “alright kids, what I want you do to for this project is to make a mockumentary on the creature you’ve picked, I don’t care what tools you use to do so, but it must look good. By the end of the month I want a transcript, a file of research and plans, and the mockumentary for me to grade. If you need absolutely anything, please tell me. For now, though, it’d just like you to brainstorm. Have fun!”
A documentary? Tenya thought the idea of getting to write and film a documentary about his own kind seemed fun, he didn’t know that much but he knew more than his friends. “I think a documentary sounds like an enjoyable project,” he stated as Uraraka joined them at the table they’d made by pushing their desks together.
“Mockumentary,” Todoroki corrected, “vampires are fictional.”
“You don’t know that,” Uraraka corrected him, sitting down, “I believe vampires could exist, they’re no different to people with blood quirks aren’t they?”
Both Todoroki and Midoriya seemed to think this was a reasonable assessment so Tenya had to step in, “pardon me Uraraka but you’re sorely mistaken for there are much less blood quirk users then there would be vampires for the seer fact that vampires are a subset of the species homosapien and not, as you assumed, merely a human with a quirk. In fact it would be impossible for a vampire to hide if they were how you put it, as blood quirk users very rarely have a secondary quirk, get as their own subset, vampires would have just as many quirks as a regular human. If you looked at vampires like they are-”
“Iida, they’re not real.” Midoriya stepped in, “we don’t need to get into details like that until we start writing, we’re just brainstorming now.”
“Ah yes,” Iida nodded, feeling a little silly, “my apologies.” He wished they knew, just so he could talk about it to his heart's content. They were just brainstorming now, planning what they could do. It was Todoroki who said Uraraka could fill the role of the damsel in distress that you see so often in media, and it was Uraraka who responded she could also fill the murderess role.

Far Cry: New Dawn was a disaster, and here’s why.
Okay, just to be clear - this is my personal opinion, not pure, cold facts that I’m trying to push down people’s throats. I just felt the sudden urge to break down piece by piece my utter hatred towards this game. So, let’s go. What exactly went wrong with it, and why Far Cry 5 was way better? I will try to present my ramblings and point of view by putting both of these games side by side. So, when reading every sentence in this... thing, add in your head a “it’s vei’s opinion” bit to avoid misunderstandings. Thanks in advance! First thing, to make everything clear - Far Cry 5 was not a perfect game. No, actually, it was far from so; there are many games much better plot-wise, with more entertaining gameplay, bigger world, more interesting side quests and so on. But, one thing for sure, this game has a spirit, an unique aura that makes many people want to come back to it and replay it over and over. The way Ubisoft portrayed Hope County is absolutely fantastic - the music, the landscapes, the characters. It was something new, something fresh, and despite quite a lot sceptical voices when the first trailers came out, it turned out really well, and in general, people really liked this game, or loved it even. Yeah, some people hate the endings, the fact that every single one of them is bad one way or the other and that you can’t basically win (I always thought this was fantastic, because, hey, you can’t be a perfect hero every time - even so, I love how this game, Seeds especially, mock the “hero attitude” that protagonist tries to have). But even so, Far Cry 5 was mostly a success, right? And the canon ending when the nukes get dropped seemed to leave a perfect opportunity for a sequel. So, what could go wrong? Well, about that...
1. How long is this game? New Dawn is short. It’s fucking short, because I installed it right after it became available (fun fact, this was the first and the last game I ever pre-ordered, so imagine how excited I must’ve been), and started playing it as soon as I could. In my case, it was around 2-3 am. I had a break then, woke up at 7 am and continued playing. I was playing it slowly - completing the side quests, because I wanted to know what has changed in Hope County, and, of course, I was looking for some easter eggs regarding the Seeds (surprised pikachu - there weren’t any, Old Compound, John’s bunker and Ranch are too obvious).  Took me around 5 hours to move on and actually start playing the main story. I was pretty sure that it will take me at least 10-15 hours to complete it (why was I thinking so, don’t ask me, I guess I still have way too high expectations after what Witcher 3 expansions have shown me). Again, surprised pikachu! I finished the whole game in 16 hours. Sixteen. Including liberating all the outposts (1 star in each, didn’t bother to get 3) and finish all side-missions + driving around the County just to look around. The hell? And it wasn’t a DLC? Just for a little comparison, because, yes, FC5 can also be completed pretty damn fast if you rush it, but my 1st playthrough of it, with all the quests and admiring the landscapes took me 33 hours. Which leads us to the next point on this god forsaken list, and that is... 2. The map.
Tumblr media
The next reason why I am shocked this game wasn’t a DLC - the heckitty hecck they did with the map in New Dawn. Radiation zones? Sign me the hell up, they make sense, are cool and stuff, but adding them just so you could bite off half of the original map is stupid, and extremely lazy thing to do. Okay, you can take off some parts, but if you’re doing so, add something new - some new paths, caves, mountain routes, something. And no, expeditions don’t count. To make it worse, the parts that were deleted were one of the best parts of the FC5 storyline. Faith’s Gate, Drubman’s Marina, Jacob’s Armory, Wolf’s Den, and the fucking Veteran’s Center. The opportunity to make this a haunted location with an entertaining quest in it was HUGE and it was absolutely wasted. It’s not like they couldn’t done it, we’ve got the mission in old Joseph’s statue, and the crocodile pikachu in Inquisitor’s Grave (which, by the way, shouldn’t actually exist - this bunker was blown up to pieces, but it seemed pretty decent in New Dawn, there are barely any sings of explosions, not to mention that “The Confession” room is untouched!). You bought this game with an intention to actually go back in time and find out about something that FC5 didn’t tell you? Kekus maximus, you don’t. Have some photographs instead (which are a nice addition, but seem lazy). To give this post even more personal hatred - I really don’t like the Henbane River region, so you could literally hear my heart breaking when I saw that we got 50% of the River, 80% of the Valley and 10% of the Whitetails, which were my absolute favorite. So fun!
3. The Villains. I must admit, in the trailers, back when the hype for this game was insane, Mickey and Lou seemed to be quite interesting. Even though back then it was obvious that Highwaymen won’t have that kind of depth that Eden’s Gate had, it was still something I was looking forward to, even though those vibes aren’t really my cup of tea; but most of my excitement was born from my love for Far Cry 5, so if course I had to try out the sequel. So yes, the trailers were quite nice (just not the live action one - that was a fucking disaster, and killed my hype for a few days afterwards).
Tumblr media
Mickey and Lou were quite fun, but to little extent, sadly. I liked their sister-sister dynamics, they really seemed close, and it was nice that shey were so different from each other - Mickey was more calculating, while Lou was living for the action and brutality in itself. The Highwaymen as a faction in itself wasn’t really that great for me, because their only purpose was to cause mayhem, and I simply don’t like something like this. But the sisters were something different, right? No, they weren’t, and that’s the point. I felt like there was little to no depth in their actions - it was all for fun, and I find this just boring and pointless (pr maybe I’m the boring one). I know that this is often how the world works - people take and destroy simply because they can and because it’s considered cool. We suck as a species, that’s official and well known, but I expected something more entertaining from a videogame. Maybe I shouldn’t, but I did. And Mickey and Lou were literally Highwaymen members with a VIP crown above their heads and nothing more. They left their mother? Okay, that is something that could lead to other interesting things. They killed their father for power? Huh, alright, I can work with that. The point is, it didn’t give them that much depth, their main purpose was to plunder everything. Which would be all good and nice if they were some kind of a side-faction. But this was The Villains™, and I wanted to feel something more towards them. And to be honest? I didn’t even hate them. I felt absolutely nothing, they just existed and I didn’t care, because they didn’t make this game interesting. What I will say now may sound brutal, but I will say it: I don’t consider two young people (they were around 19/20) just wanting to blow everything up “for lulz” a good villains. I fucking don’t. It was a huge downfall after what FC5 has given to us. I was just so bored when fighting the Highwaymen, because they were shallow, and their personalities were only focused on one thing.
Of course, there is also Ethan. Yes, I hate him (he even has a very punchable face, what a coincidence!), but I admit he was somehow a nice touch in this game. Yes, he was a prideful, irritating kid, but while I was just utterly bored by the Twins, Ethan actually managed to make me hate him. The only thing that I’m quite bothered by is that I don’t believe that he’s actual, biological son of Joseph. To put it shortly, and say it louder for the people in the back - The Twins were just meh. Boring. How was the situation in FC5 better? Oh boy.
Tumblr media
Putting their obvious... Attractive physical appearance aside, and focusing purely on their personalities, because that’s what I’m trying to explain - they were something else, and something new. Ubisoft took a risk with creating four villains for a single game, because it’s extremely hard to give each one of them the screentime they deserve, and make them interesting and unique. Did FC5 succeed? In a way, yes. I’m not saying that Seeds are absolutely perfect villains (they aren’t), but they can eat Twins for breakfast and still stay hungry. To show you what I mean, have some short descriptions: JOSEPH: Cult Leader, “The Father”, a person who claims to hear the voice of God himself. Someone from a broken family and difficult life, who was in prison (according to song dedicated to him), lost one job after another, lost his wife, killed his daughter, and then formed a religious cult. JACOB: military veteran suffering from PTSD, with a massive knowledge about history and psychology, someone who literally brainwashed nearly half, if not more of the County, and manages to combine religion (something he clearly isn’t really fond of) and personal, darwinistic look on life. JOHN: former lawyer, a person skilled in adapting to any environment, charismatic manipulator abused as a kid, forced to spend most of his life pretending to be someone he hated to be, battled with addictions, emotionally unstable and with sadistic outburts. FAITH: young woman devoid of purpose in life, also battling with addictions in the past, probably on the verge of suicide at some point, who was manipulated (and quite possibly drugged) in order to comply; a broken girl hiding her pain behind lovely smiles. Sounds pretty diverse, right? And I bet that at least one member of this family was somehow entertaining for everyone. Now, here’s what New Dawn has given to us: MICKEY: the more calculating sister; young girl who followed her father and chose brutal life, creating entertainment for herself by making others suffer. Shows some kind of regret when you defeat her by the end of the game. LOU: the more brutal sister; young girl who followed her father and chose brutal life, creating entertainment for herself by making others suffer. Doesn’t show any regrets towards her actions.
And honestly, that’s it. I really tried to write something more for the Twins, but I couldn’t put my finger on anything. That’s all we know. And yes, I know that there is a major difference between them and the Seeds, which is the age gap - FC5 villains are simply older and have more life experience, but honestly, this doesn’t make it better. Mickey and Lou could have much more depth and be far more interesting despite them being young. Age is not a problem in such a case. I suggest to compare Mickey and Lou’s descriptions with the Faith one, since she’s just few years older. There is a difference, isn’t it? And even when playing both of these games, the Seeds just seem to be better developed than the Twins. Ubisoft did something weird, because they managed to focus on four villains and make each one of them interesting in their own way, but made just two main villains flat, and nearly identical. 4. Radio calls. This is a continuation of the point above, because it’s also something I wanted to point out and is connected to the villains of both games. The things you can hear directly from The Twins can be mostly described as “hey rabbit, you’re pissing us off a bit”. Same with the things they say at outposts and direct them to the Highwaymen - it’s always about the same thing, and there isn’t a single line that I found interesting or worth remembering (okay, my bad, the fact that Mickey and Lou seemed to be dissapointed after Nana chose to stick with the Captain rather than them was a nice touch). Meanwhile, I can recite most of the dialogue lines from the Seeds from my memory, and it’s something I could do after 2 playthroughs. They seem to be on a whole different level - and yes, it is true that to some point, the “rabbits” thing is similar to “the weak” theme of Jacob, or “the sinners” in case of John, but it didn’t seem to be that much tiring to hear about. Faith’s radio calls were interesting, because with each one of them you could hear her demeanor towards the Deputy changing - in the beginning, she was friendly, but after you destroyed Joseph’s statue, she was scared, and at the final confrontation - maliciously hostile. Jacob started his radio calls history with a threat towards you, and kind off keeps that all the time, but the closer you get to the final meeting with him, the more... Okay, how the fuck do I describe it in a non-thot way amused (I guess we can call it this way?) he sounded. He was still far from friendly, you still didn’t have any doubts he’s your enemy, but there was something in those radio calls, something that suggested he actually sees the Deputy as something more than just enemy, as a tool he crafted all by himself and he was proud of it. John welcomes you with this cheesy ad at the beginning of the game, and as time goes on, he goes even more obsessed with making you atone and confess; not to mention his absolutely fantastic reactions to stealing his house and destroying his sign. His calls are something unpredictable, because once he’s all official and charismatic, but suddenly he switches to this ominous mode that actually makes you want stop for a bit and look around you, as if he was lurking somewhere. To sum it up, this game made you feel like if you were actually developing some kind of a relationship with each one of the family member. But the radio calls from the Twins seem to be always the same, it’s all about “rabbits” and “problem solving”. Yes, it might've been better if only one sister was all about it, and the other one had something else on her mind, but making them nearly identical was a lazy move.  5. Landscapes.
Tumblr media
Far Cry 5 was amazing, because every region was different and had something else to offer. Henbane River was full of Bliss, which created weird hallucinations, Faith dancing around you was also pretty interesting addition, and The Pilgrimage was also a nice touch (I recommend going with it, it’s a really nice experience, actually). Holland Valley was the pure definition of Montana countryside, and it felt fantastic to walk around and see those little farms, cows, windmills and so on. Whitetail Mountains were also something unique, with less open spaces, a huge amount of wildlife, combining massive mountains with deep forests. And even though the colors of this game could be simply described as beige-green, I didn’t really feel bored when wandering around. New Dawn had a cool concept, actually - makind the post-apocalyptic world colorful, instead of making it a grey wasteland was something new and I was excited. And, honestly, I really liked how it all looked like during the first 2 hours of playthrough. After that... I was just so done. The pink colour in itself wasn’t bad, really, but the way they added it everywhere made me feel sick. Those flowers were nearly everywhere and they were always the same. And while I love screenshoting landscapes in games, New Dawn didn’t really felt like something I wanted to spend time on. I like to admire the views of FC5, but not in ND. Combining the small as hell map with nearly the same flowers on your every step was a bad solution. 6. Other. To mention other things - well, I guess we could mention the music, but I feel it isn’t fair, actually. Both games did this well in some way, FC5 songs are certainly something unforgettable, and I mean both the cult ones as well as the OST. New Dawn did what it could - gave Highwaymen music that fits them. The OST, however, isn’t that good. Maybe because it just doesn’t feel unique to me, while the different type of music in each region in FC5 is, for me, unforgettable in many ways.  I won’t really talk about The Deputy >> The Judge metamorphosis, because everyone sees it in a different way. I personally don’t consider it as a bad thing, it’s quite a nice plot twist, and I like it (even though I went with a totally different path with my deputy OC).
Okay, I think it’s time to get to the main point. Why I consider New Dawn as a disaster? The Villains were devoid of any depth and felt exactly the same, the map was small as hell, the story was way too short (and these two things should be enough to make this game a DLC, not an actual installment of the franchise), the landscapes were repetitive, 90% of what was left from FC5 (locations, for example) didn’t get a chance to shine. Just imagine how much more entertaining this game could be if we would find some old recording of the Eden’s Gate songs somewhere. If there were mentions of some terryfingly huge wolves roaming around, if the members of Prosperity actually mentioned something about John Seed (which house they are living in!), if we could visit the remnants of the Faith’s Gate, hear the ominous “Only You” when approaching the Veteran’s Center and read some old notes about experiments that were happening in there, and so on. Basically, the main opportunity that got wasted was focusing on continuating FC5 legacy in a more respectful way. The things I mentioned above seem like small details, but they really could make the experience something else entirely. So, yeah. I hate New Dawn, in case someone didn’t notice. :)

Pokemon anon again! I'd like to hear anything you have strong opinions on (either your personal ships, ones you dislike, etc). I just really like reading your thoughts, so whatever you feel like sharing is fine.
Welcome back, Pokénon!
And sure, I can do that!
Alright, so in terms of ships I dislike (I’m going to go with the English names just so I’m not constantly using both names)...
I guess I should get the obvious ones out of the way, because I’m not really a fan of either “Ash ship” extreme:
Poke//Shipping (Ash X Misty) and Amour//Shipping (Ash X Serena)
I don’t like either of them.
For Poke//Shipping, I have never liked aggressive tsundere characters and Misty is basically a textbook example of that. It’s not that I have a problem with strong/tomboy-ish (though honestly I don’t consider Misty a tomboy anyway) female characters, which I know it sounds like that when I have a distaste for characters like Alix too, but when they’re brash and angry and just so generically “TOMBOY GIRL POWER,” it grates on my nerves.
The idea of having an aggressive character - y’know - be aggressive to their love interest and then cue the sad music when the love interest argues with them or makes any sort of hurtful implication just... no.
Like, I want you to imagine the most sarcastic Clarity possible and then picture me as a little girl watching the scene where Misty is officially leaving the group, because that was literally just me like, “oh noooo, she’s goooone.”
It’s the same reason I don’t do Rocket//Shipping (James X Jessie). One character is too aggressive and the other character doesn’t even come close to balancing it out.
There’s also the fact that nothing comes out of Poke//Shipping. Misty is canonically crushing on Ash (*flashbacks to the friggin’ second movie where they shove it in your face*) but it’s just... there, not to mention that scene where Misty is talking casually to Ash like, “you and I will be married too someday,” which came completely out of left field and - whether for a joke or not - made little kid me very uncomfortable.
Like I said, it’s just there and doesn’t go anywhere, and Ash is already so oblivious that of course he wouldn’t get that Misty is in love with him. It’s basically a long-running gag of Misty pulling a surprised Pikachu face whenever Ash doesn’t understand that she likes him/wants to stay with him/literally wants anything specific from him.
As for Amour//Shipping, I did admittedly like it at first, but just--ugh, oh boy.
First, it’s shipping fanservice, kinda like Pokemon 2000 throwing a bone to the shippers except now it’s the whole two seasons. My followers know how I feel about fanservice just for fanservice and that’s basically all that Amour//Shipping is. That’s why Serena was already made to have met Ash when they were children; so the writers could get a “headstart” on all the blushy fanservice they could squeeze in on Serena’s end.
I fell off the ship sometime around Wulfric, particularly with the scene where Serena comforts Ash. Just that whole, “this isn’t like you,” and then trying to compare her contest losses to Ash’s battles as if Ash hasn’t been at this for seasons upon seasons and battles aren’t a completely different category because they involve actually watching one’s Pokemon get physically hurt (Pokemon battles are a sport, yes, but it doesn’t change anything; Ash also has a special Greninja so of course he’s going to be upset that having all this experience still isn’t enough to just sweep). Like, to relate to someone, yes, it helps to have something you can use as a mental comparison, but that comparison is (usually) supposed to stay mental.
Anyway, after Ash shouts at her because she doesn’t know how he feels at all (because she doesn’t) and he just wanted to be left alone (because he did), Serena throws snowballs at his face and that apparently helps make Ash feel better because Serena can do no wrong here and that just so happened to be exactly what he needed.
(I mean, that whole gym battle and what follows is already pretty trash but that solidified it for me. Basically everything XY&Z added were things I just didn’t care about.)
Oh, and Serena is also implied to steal a kiss from Ash at the very end of the season and you guys know how I feel about that. It’s mostly the fact that she’s so non-apologetic about it, just smiling and blushy and all happy whereas here’s me like, “Wait, I’m pretty sure we just missed a crucial step here??? Since when were you sure that Ash had a thing for you???”
So yeah, I’m not a fan of either ship. I have vague opinions about basically all other ships (The ship between Ash and Iris aka ”You’re such a kid” girl can rot), but Poke//Shipping and Amour//Shipping are the ones I have the strongest negative feelings for.
Brock being shipped with basically anyone is a no no for me. The guy flirts with anything that moves and I have never found it funny or charming. The closest thing young me ever came to a ship with him was Luck//Shipping (Brock X Pike Queen Lucy) but that’s basically it, and it honestly could’ve just been me thinking the idea that Ash and Brock both getting together with Battle Frontier people (I was for Ability//Shipping - Ash X Sailor Maiden Anabel - at the time) was a neat idea and both episodes that featured the respective ships had BLUSH FUEL.
I recall being into Advance//Shipping (Ash X May) when I was young (I was a multishipper back then, you see) but I avoided thinking about it too much because I wasn’t a huge fan of Max (aka “Iris before Iris existed”) and Norman’s game counterpart infuriates me even to this day so I just didn’t want to imagine Ash having to deal with those sorts of things. Plus, looking back on it, he and May were little too similar (then again, maybe that’s why I liked it?).
I expected to enjoy Aurelia//Shipping (Ash X Lillie) when I was getting into the Sun&Moon seasons but it didn’t really do anything for me. I guess maybe I was so burnt out after Amour//Shipping that I wasn’t in a shippy mood anymore? Though, it could also be that their relationship isn’t as “balanced” as I would’ve liked.
Anyway though, as for the ships I actually really like instead of just being indifferent towards or outright disliking, the big one really is just Pearl//Shipping. I suppose it makes sense given that I’m not a multishipper, don’t like Brock enough to ship him with anyone, and most other travel companions are ones I either hadn’t gotten attached to or that I’d paired with Ash long enough that, once I got older, I couldn’t really picture them with other people because my memory of their moments wasn’t strong enough.
Yeah though, PEARL//SHIPPING, I ADORE IT. Like, I’ll try to explain it as best as I can without rambling, but basically:
Dawn doesn’t make excuses when she wants to go with Ash. No “my bike," no meandering, just really casual.
THEY SING THE JAPANESE OPENING TOGETHER AND IT’S RAD. “High Touch” is like, my favorite opening theme???? And they do a duet for it??? I just???? Yes???????
It’s the little things. High-fives are like, their thing. They traded Pokemon with each other which is like, really rare for the series and it made total sense. They both have a Pokemon they keep out of their Pokeball who doesn’t want to evolve (Piplup was the Eevee partner from Let’s Go before it was cool) and no, Misty’s Togepi doesn’t count because it was Gold and Silver’s posterchild. Ash and Dawn also both gave up a speedy physical Pokemon (Primeape and Ambipom respectively) so they could participate in some sort of Pokemon sport that doesn’t exist in the games while I scream in the background because I really like said Pokemon.
DAWN IS ASH’S CHEERLEADER. SHE LITERALLY CHEERS FOR HIM DURING GYM MATCHES. THAT’S PRECIOUS.
They help and get ideas off of each other, which I think is really cool. Them trading Pokemon just furthers that sort of dynamic.
Them just supporting each other in general. There’s a moment where Dawn takes a pretty harsh loss and Ash can be seen sulking like he really gets how she’s feeling.
It also helps that Diamond and Pearl were one of the better seasons of the anime. Paul is a solid rival, I really like the creative battle techniques like spinning and countershield, and just Chimchar in general honestly. I remember the baking episode “Cooking Up a Sweet Story!” vividly and all the feels it gave me.
Yeah though. It’s not any sort of OTP pairing or anything, but out of all of the anime Pokemon ships, Pearl//Shipping is probably my favorite. I’d probably ship them a lot more if they were a little older (like, on par with the protagonists of the Black & White games, who are closer to 14/15; it’s just easier to get a gauge on personality that way).

carry on youtuber au
baz starts out as a cover artist, occasionally posting his own songs (he does violin stuff too)
but eventually he gets recognition and people are like “who is this person?????” so baz does a few q&as
oh BUT THEN he reveals that he also has so many other interests (books, movies, planting, coffee, Controversal Topics) that people want him to do other types of videos
and that is what starts baz on the long road of his channel basically being an everything bagel where he does a bit of everything and people find it very chill
agatha and baz become friends over their mutual love of gossip in the community (as long as they’re not apart of it)
(because baz and agatha and simon and penny aren’t problematic)
which brings me to agatha, she’s one of those channels that keep everyone updated on the drama and the shitty stuff that happens on YouTube as long as regular media
very opinionated, this gal is, so she shares her opinion on...everything
though, sometimes she’ll do a q&a and do her makeup and talk about fashion or what she’s into at the moment
she’s basically angelika oles
penny’s a booktuber!!!
she mostly reads and reviews fantasy books, as they are her favorite, but she’ll also do those videos where it’s like “i just read a shitty wattpad romance story, let me rant” or “my top ten favorite ya pairings” or “tier ranking every harry potter character because life has no meaning”
now, simon, the babe, he’s (and you cannot fight me on this) basically jenna marbles
his videos are so random and spurratic, he doesn’t even plan what his next video is, and he’s the youtuber
i would also like to point out that simon probably totally has adhd and would talk about it and his experience with it
his most popular videos are of him baking. he’s like (and hear me out) very good and very bad at it. like, all throughout the videos, everybody’s holding their breath’s like “oh no this is going to turn out terribly” because simon being in the kitchen is like a horse babysitting a dog, it’s a mess, however the end product is always perfect and amazing and by the end everybody’s drooling behind their screens
simon is also widely conceived as the weirdest straight guy ever. like people (from just looking at him) think he’s just So Striaght but a very Cool Straight Guy who people wouldn’t actually mind being around
simon has the most subscribers (the majority being that they find him funny and see him as a friend, the minority being people who think he’s Hot As Hell and okay yeah he’s a good person too but have you seen those freckles-)
then it’s baz because he actually started first and his following has been a journey, then agatha (she’s the newest, and her subscriber rate is growing rapidly), then penny (booktube is a small community sad face)
penny n simon are irl best friends and penny was the one who convinced simon to make a channel bc he needed something to help let out his energy, “plus it’s a little fun hobby”
snowbaz now :)
simon has followed baz from pretty much the beginning. he saw his cringy covers, his development as a songwriter, and the walls built around baz crumble over the camera
baz...well, he’s one of those people who think simon is Hot As Hell, but he also genuinely enjoys the videos. at first, baz was like “I’m not watching him, everybody watches him, and I’m different” so he always avoided the recommendations youtube gave him of simon’s videos (but it was also bc he didn’t want to confront that he was very attracted to simon)
and then, one fateful night, agatha sent baz a link to a video called “coming out” and under the link she wrote “youtube angel!”—that’s their nickname for simon—“shocking the world!”
baz click click clicked because hot guy is lgbt+????? and baz watched the video, commenting “proud of you” or something along those lines, and then he watched so, so many more of simon’s videos
simon, a boy who just came out as bisexual, just had his youtube hero comment on his video where he came out and is like !!!!!!
simon’s sexual awakening is baz
also, simon breaks the internet with that video, because he isn’t striaght and that’s so mind-boggling to everybody. but there’s always that one group of people who are like “i saw this coming. do you not remember that one time simon showed his socks and his jeans were cuffed-”
simon replies to baz’s comment and is like “oh my god thank you so much. you’re like my actual favorite youtuber” like a fucking Nut and people see that and say “omg collab” because they’re both relatively high status youtubers and their collab would be Powerful
then, summoning all his courage, simon dms baz on instagram with just a simple “hey, a lot of people are saying we should collab lmao”
“i’ve seen that” “heh uhm yeah” “maybe we could get to know each other and see if that would be a good idea” “yes! i’d love that”
and they do. they get really close and stuff,, but people don’t exactly...see that
you see, on twitter, they get in millions of arguments. people genuinely think that they hate each other to some extent, when in reality, they’re swooning at the sight of the three dot bubble
baz, on twitter: “you cannot tell me that people actually enjoy sparkling water. it’s trash, move on” (they had an argument over it, privately, and baz is making it public to cause a rise out of simon bc he finds angry simon cute)
simon, in response: “yo I’m throwing you in the trash as we speak. fuhhhck u”
so, when they collab for the first time, everybody at home is just like *shocked pikachu emoji* they end up doing a video where simon bakes baz’s mom’s recipe of cherry scones with baz. it’s kind of a big deal bc both simon and baz don’t want to ruin baz’s memory of his mother
in the end, baz tears up and gives si a big ass hug because they’re perfect, simon. i love them, thank you. the fans start shipping. hard. it’s simon’s highest viewed video
that surprise hug is also what makes simon realize that his feelings are much deeper than attraction and surface level forms of knowing someone
on baz’s channel, they were going to film a video where they talked about their experiences being queer, but then simon realized that his biggest, most prominent example was staring at baz’s jawline, so he had to be like “uhhh, actually, I’m not really comfortable with that yet” which is part true. instead, they do a video where they have argumentative discussions, like on twitter but in depth and with less insults
anyways, they receive pretty positive feedback on the videos, people enjoy them, so they decide to do more. also, they both live in LA, so it’s actually pretty easy to do them, plus they have a diverse area to do them in
also, i think it’d be nice to mention that simon will sometimes do twitch streams of him playing minecraft and then he puts edited versions on his channel. it’s worth mentioning because during this one stream, he ends up slipping up and saying “we talk a lot, actually. and i—i like him a lot” about baz, then he blushes like hell because i really just said that and it’s live oh god
all the while, baz and simon actually just start hanging out (without hiding behind wanting to do a video). one meet-up, they go to disney world and halfway through baz is like “uh, should we be filming this?” and simon gives him a smile and replies, “no” because that moment is for them and them only + the fans who see them together and ask for a picture/just take pictures of them being like a couple
their next collab is a bit of a fun one. behind the scenes, pen, ag, si, and baz all become friends, because of that one time baz came over while penny was there and he barely payed attention to simon, too busy talking to penny. anyways, they do a big four person collab where agatha basically teaches them how to do makeup
on pennys channel, it’s book related. they have to do a look based on the synopsis’ of each other’s favorite books. baz gets simon, simon gets agatha, agatha gets penny, penny gets baz. baz: “snow, you’re holding it wrong. it’s like this” simon: *stares longingly at the brush that gets to touch baz’s face*
on agatha’s, the video is just titled Teaching My Friends To Do Makeup (ft. idiots who test my patience). they all suck. majorly. well, by all, i mean simon and penny suck at makeup
on baz’s, they do a trivia of sorts. if they get a question wrong, they have to skip a product. simon: “oh thank god less work” agatha, deadpanning: “i think i might kill him”
on simon’s, they have agatha and penny go against simon and agatha. si and pen being the ones who have to actually do makeup because, according to agatha, “since you decided to bitch so much, you guys are doing our makeup” “but-!” “nope, I’m Peak Brains of us all so I call the shots” “you’re not even-” “shut up” Everybody (and by everybody i mean the fans) is actually glad that they got to see simon doing baz’s makeup, because it’s literally them just being so flustered the whole time
the collab stuns everybody bc: “they’re all friends??????” plus, some people start calling them the Four Fucks because at one point penny says “fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, and most importantly, fuck me” after simon flinged a bunch of eyeshadow on her
okay so agatha and penny are just like: “these idiots need to get together already” because it’s very obvious that they like each other. like the eiffel tower in paris, you can’t miss it. everyone watching the videos also sees it, so you can imagine the comments
during one of si’s live-streams (he’s playing the hunger games minigame on minecraft), the chat goes wild because baz pops in. he plans on surprising simon with a picnic (he just thought that they could go into simon’s backyard or the park that’s a few miles away), but it was pretty spur of the moment so he didn’t think about simon doing a stream. and to be honest, simon’s stream was also spur of the moment, so it’s not like he made sure to tell baz about it
“simon! hey, i let myself in!” baz called from the front doorway. the chat is freaking because: “is that baz???” “omg baz has a key to simon’s house!!” “are they dating???” simon kind of just freezes up and starts sputtering as he reads the chat and tries to reply to baz
of course, baz doesn’t understand that simon doesn’t want baz to go into his office/room with his computer, so he does go in and as soon as he sees the livestream he’s like: “oh, uh, I’ll go” and simon unfreezes and goes “no, no, stay, I’ll just be a bit” “do you want me to...leave the room?” “you can watch if you want” (baz wants) “okay, sure” so simon pretty much shows baz how to play minecraft
i never finished this, do i?

Witch Hazel- Pt.4
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jungkook x Reader
Genre: FanficWriter!Jungkook, Idol!Reader, College!AU, Angst, Fluff
Summary: There are two students in your art class with a secret: you and the quiet Jeon Jungkook. You’re a problematic idol singer, infamous for your ice cold reputation and perpetual resting bitch face; he’s the artist and author behind the viral comic series based on a certain ice queen idol. After a blowup of destructive rumors, lost motivation and inevitable solitude, you stumble upon Jungkook’s comic and find a new and unexpected light.
Word Count: 3.5k
Warnings: none
Parts: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // ?
A/N: my hope is that the idol industry can one day become a safer place for those who have dedicated their lives to making others happy ❤️
-
“Let me guess, you’re the type who needs to feel needed but also pushes people away?”
“How would you know that, Bunny Boy?”
“It’s my power.”
“You have powers too?” Snow blinks her pretty blue eyes. “Can you read minds?”
“I certainly can’t read minds,” Bunny Boy laughs. “But I am pretty good at reading hearts.”
“Oh yeah? What’s my heart feeling right now?”
“Well for starters, you seem to be annoyed by me prying too deep.”
“You are annoying.”
“And you also think I’m kinda cute.”
“I do not!”
You giggle into your phone screen for the hundredth time as you read through the latest Witch Hazel update. With the reveal of another character with secret powers, you wonder what Snow will make out of him. A friend? An ally? Or perhaps just someone who gets her.
Beneath the last comic panel of Snow rolling her eyes at the unofficially named Bunny Boy, you find cute little comments from the author.
“all i hope is for snow to take care of herself during this hiatus”
“even if it’s only a tiny amount, maybe witch hazel can help supplement as new snow content for now;;;;;;”
“ah i didnt mean to sound as if i were anywhere near snow’s level or anything;;;;;;”
“i just hope she knows she doesnt have to carry any burden all on her own”
“she has people on her side”
Your face doesn’t know whether to smile or shed tears, so you do a combination of both. It’s true, you’ve always felt alone. Always. No matter how many staff members it takes to produce an album or how many fans buy that album, you’ve never once felt that people could look beyond your idol music, your icy eyes, your mask.
But that’s exactly why you’re taking a break. You need to separate your worth from the music attached to your name. You need to prove to yourself that you’re more than what the critics and magazines say. And you’re only realizing it now that you can’t do it alone.
If only you had your own jk.seagull in your life. You’re sure the two of you would mesh well together.
-
“Where is that kid?” Taehyung pats the empty seat next to him before class starts. “He never skips class. I remember one time he literally rejected a date with a super cute girl because he ‘had to get to class’. Can you believe that?”
“Knowing Jungkook, I’d believe it,” you shrug. It does feel oddly empty without his presence, though.
“Oh really? You know all there is to know about the mysterious phenomenon that is Jeon Jungkook? It sounds like you guys got real acquainted on that date the other day.”
“It wasn’t a date, Taehyung. It was a meeting for a group project that you didn’t show up to.”
“Well it all evens out since Jungkook didn't show up today. Who knows, maybe you won’t show up tomorrow.”
“I’m sure he has a good reason for being absent. Unlike you.” You have to admit, it does worry you a little. Especially after the hints of doubt Jungkook expressed about his own beautiful art. You wish he knew how amazing of an artist he really is.
“What are you talking about? My reason was valid.”
“Having your cock sucked for five hours straight is not a valid reason, by the way.” You roll your eyes. “Let me guess, today you have a threesome scheduled after class and dinner date at 5?”
“Ouch, you don’t have to be so harsh, Y/N.” Taehyung pretends to be offended, but he doesn’t deny your comment either. “You’re really his type, you know.”
“I’m whose type?”
“Jungkook’s.”
“Where is this coming from all of a sudden?”
“I’ve said this before, but you’re a lot like Snow.”
“How?”
“In how you present yourself,” Taehyung says. “You and her both come across as cold and heartless, but somehow I don’t buy it.” He doesn’t buy what? That you’re just as much of a bitch on the inside too? Ha.
“Jungkook must have weird taste then,” you shrug. Because in your opinion, you’re not exactly an easy person to love.
“But-” Taehyung is cut off by the professor starting class. You don’t know what more he could’ve said to make you change your mind anyway.
“There won’t be any lecture for today’s class.” Your professor is busy typing away at her computer, perhaps trying to get caught up on paperwork and grading old assignments. “Instead, I want you all to take this time to work on your group projects. You may leave the classroom if you must, but remember to stay on task!”
With that, your classmates jam out of the room as if they were just freed from prison. You hear a couple of friends deciding which boba place to try out. Another group, the overachievers of the class, head somewhere outside to actually work on the project. Taehyung, too, looks as if there’s somewhere else he needs to be.
“So I-”
“Go ahead and get laid,” you sigh, shooing the boy away with your hand. “We’ll work next time when all three of us are here.”
“Thanks, Y/N! You get me,” Taehyung waves bye before dashing off.
You wave back as the hall clears out around you. It seems everyone else has found somewhere to go. Everyone except you.
But it’s fine. You’re fine.
Buzz! You jump at the sudden phone notification that seems to echo off the walls of the empty hall. Oh look, it’s a text from your only friend.
10:32AM jinnie❤️ “good morning ^O^// just checking in on you”
10:33AM jinnie❤️ “how are you holding up with everything?”
“I’m fine!” you mumble rather aggressively to yourself, sliding your ass down onto the filthy hallway floor before texting back. Your chunky guitar case sits in your lap like a baby so it doesn’t get dirty.
10:34AM Y/N “i miss seeing you at work everyday :((((”
10:34AM Y/N “lololololol jk”
10:35AM Y/N “fuck work, am i right”
10:36AM jinnie❤️ “Y/N”
10:37AM Y/N “😒”
10:37AM Y/N “im fine”
10:38AM jinnie❤️ “thats exactly what people say when theyre not fine”
But you are fine. You’re completely fine with sitting all alone in an empty hallway, texting your only friend who also happens to be your manager.
10:39AM jinnie❤️ “what are you doing now?”
You pick up your guitar and start walking away. Obviously, you can’t tell him what you were actually doing because it would worry him too much. But you can’t lie to him either.
10:41AM Y/N “if you really must know”
You wait until you arrive at your new location before answering Seokjin’s million-dollar question. You’ve found your place.
10:45AM Y/N “im practicing in the music room before my theory class starts”
He sends you the Surprised Pikachu meme but also a few supportive comments.
10:46AM jinnie❤️ “good luck!”
10:46AM jinnie❤️ “and if you ever need something, please reach out to me!”
10:47AM jinnie❤️ “ill be checking in on you every now and then, but please enjoy your time off~”
10:48AM Y/N “thank you seokjin”
With your manager off your back, you settle into the empty music classroom and pull your trusty guitar out of its case. The flat and out of tune strings remind you of how long it’s been since the last time you touched the guitar. Because despite carrying it around wherever you go, it’s all for show.
In all honesty, you’re too afraid to let others hear, and yet, part of you wants them to know. You want them to know you’re an artist in your own right—without the judgment. But that’s asking for too much from this cruel world. Especially when you know you aren’t there yet.
One by one, you turn the pegs on your guitar, fine tuning each string by ear. That’s always been your secret talent, and maybe that’s how you’ve never been off-key since the moment you said your first words. If there was one thing you had going for you as an idol, it was that.
Once all the strings are tuned, you just sit there, staring at your fingers curved naturally in the C chord position. The muscle memory is still very much ingrained in you, but so are the scars. The last time you actually held your guitar, you were told you weren’t good enough. So you ended up settling for something else.
Today, however, you want to change that. You shouldn’t let several people’s opinions determine what you can or can’t amount to just because they were the professionals of the industry who supposedly “knew” what they were doing. They didn’t know you then, and they certainly don’t know you now. They don’t even know your real name.
But that’s okay. Having a secret identity makes you feel as though you can someday become a true superhero, someone who makes the world a better place from behind the scenes. In that sense, you want to be someone like your current favorite person on the internet, jk.seagull. You don’t know him, nor do you know his real name.
All you know is that his craft makes you happy.
With the funny fanfic boy in mind, you glance up to make sure the coast is clear before taking your first strum. Despite the dullness of your old worn-out strings, what your ears hear is crisp and bright.
-
You aren’t sure how much time has passed since you began singing along to a melody only you know, but you’re suddenly pulled back into reality with a single mention of her from outside the classroom.
“What do you think about the Snow news?”
“It’s honestly sad.”
“With how little she contributes to her music, I really don’t think she deserves a break.”
“She should just keep going. How hard is it to sing a few songs? I hope she knows she’s letting a lot of people down just so she could relax.”
“Or better yet, she should just retire early.”
You set down your guitar on the piano bench. You’ve heard quite enough and you’re ready to slam the door on the noisy group passing by. But by the time you peek your head out from the crack, the group is already at the other end of the hall. You do, however, find a surprise sitting right outside the music room.
The boy who was supposedly too sick to come to class is too busy sketching away to notice you staring at him.
“How long have you been sitting out here?”
The tiny hairs on the back of the boy’s neck stand up as his drawing hand freezes at the sound of your voice. He turns around, looking up at you as if he’d been caught doing something he shouldn’t have been doing.
“Since I started sketching.” Jungkook shows you a simple yet pretty drawing of a flowery spring field. By his art standards, it couldn’t have taken him long to draw that one page.
But it isn’t until you start flipping through the rest of the pages in the sketchbook that you realize he’d been sitting there for quite a while. Each page is similar to the last with only slight differences in between. When you fly through the pages like a flipbook, you see the whole picture.
From the first sketch of spring flowers, snow slowly covers the field until only a single flower remains in a winter wonderland. If you go in reverse, you can watch as the snow melts away until that one flower disappears amongst its brethren.
“What kind of flower is that?” You point to the one that somehow managed to blossom through the thickness of the snow. Maybe if it were colored in, you’d have a better idea.
“A strong one?” Jungkook shrugs as if he’s not the artist who knows the the answer. You hate yourself for cackling along at his lousy joke. He closes his sketchbook as a way to change the subject. “Why aren’t you in class?”
“Funny you should ask. The professor dismissed our class to work on the group projects. And then Tae ditched to go do his usual skirt-chasing shenanigans because somebody in our group didn’t show up.”
“Sorry,” the boy bites his lower lip with a hint of regret. “I didn’t really feel well enough to sit in class today.”
“Then why didn’t you just stay at home?”
“I still had this project to turn in and finish for my other class.” He raises his sketchbook. “And besides, music is the best medicine.”
You feel your cheeks burning up. The last person you expected to catch you messing around with your guitar in the music department was the art student who was supposed to be out sick. “How much did you hear…?”
“All I heard was one song…” He assures you for a slight second before going in for the kill, “…that you kept replaying over and over and over-”
“I get it. You heard a lot,” you hiss. “You better not tell anyone! Not even Tae.”
“I won’t,” he promises, chuckling at your distress. It seems the kid’s gotten comfortable enough around you to start clowning you. “It’s a nice song, by the way.”
“Really?” You want to believe him, but you have a hard time doing so. When all you’ve heard was brutal criticism for the past few years, it’s difficult to accept any compliment without feeling like there’s ill intent behind it. It feels wrong to feel good about yourself.
Besides, maybe he’s just complimenting you out of obligation. Like he’s trying to be nice, even if he doesn’t actually feel that way about your song.
“I’ll burden the pain so you don’t have to,” he says.
“What?”
“That’s a line from the lyrics, right?”
You nod.
“It’s a very Y/N thing to say.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Jungkook shrugs and swirls his Sailor Venus keychain around his index finger. “Just take it as a compliment, Y/N.”
If not for his soft teasing smile, your mind would still be filled with doubt. Instead, you accept the compliment and gain a tiny bit of confidence back.
“Come in for a second,” you start walking back inside the music room. “And close the door behind you.”
Jungkook does as he’s told, his eyes glued to your guitar as you pick it up off the piano bench. There, you do something you’ve never practiced but had always hoped to perform as Snow—your own acoustic version of one of your songs.
It doesn’t matter that you’ve never practiced or touched your guitar in years. You know the key, the chords, the strum pattern. And you know how to make it your own. Not Snow’s or anyone else’s.
When you’re done with your mini acoustic performance, the boy can’t help but chuckle. He’s about to clown you again. You can feel it.
“What??”
“It’s nothing.”
“Jungkook.”
“It’s seems like you don’t hate Snow as much as you lead on.”
“I was only trying to show how I would’ve done the song if I were her.”
“Ah, so you criticize Snow so much because you think you can do better?”
“Not necessarily better… just differently.” You hope that answer is enough to satisfy the boy. But it’s not. He only nods with an awfully suspicious smirk. “What now??”
“It’s cool that you want to be a songwriter.”
“I never said that I did,” you say with a slight pout and hmph. You’ve never once mentioned your true dreams to anyone besides maybe some random kid at camp when you were ten. You’d hate to announce your bold aspirations with the utmost confidence, only to flop and fail before achieving anything. You’d rather keep it a secret until you perhaps “pop-off” as the kids say.
“Sure.” He doesn’t believe you.
“Are you always this sassy when you’re sick?”
His long locks flow as he shakes his head. “I’m feeling better now, actually. Thanks to your medicine.”
Maybe the kid was faking his sickness all along. Then again, Taehyung did say Jungkook wasn’t the type to skip class under most circumstances. Perhaps there was something else that was bothering him.
“Wait, you weren’t upset about Snow’s hiatus, right?” You remember the gossip from the noisy group that had passed by earlier. The beating you took from their words still stings.
“To be honest, I was worried about her at first with everything that went on,” Jungkook says. “But I think she probably just needed some time away from all that.”
“Probably,” is all you say, doing your best to downplay the amount of relief his words gave you. He isn’t upset or let down; he just wishes the best for your well-being. And as an idol, that’s all you’ve ever asked for. “You know, you’re the nicest Snow fan I’ve ever met.”
“You know a lot of other Snow fans?” Jungkook tilts his head at your odd statement. Oh right. You’ve only really met other fans as Snow, not as Y/N. Now you sound suspicious.
“Oh yeah, for sure. My friend, Seokjin, reads Snow smut all the time,” you force out a laugh while making a mental apology to your manager. Then you decide it’s best to change the subject before you blow your cover. “Speaking of fanfiction, I need your opinion on Witch Hazel!”
“What about it?”
“The new bunny character.” You whip out your phone for direct reference of the comic. “He’s funny, right?”
“He’s good at teasing Snow,” Jungkook looks at your phone screen of the bunny saying that Snow thinks he’s cute. “I wonder if he’ll make her fall for him.”
“I want him to.” Your eyes light up without knowing. To have Snow fall in love is wishful thinking, but a large part of you craves romance deep down—even if it’s only for the fictional version of yourself. “But at the same time, he’s not Snow’s type.”
“What’s Snow’s type?”
“Huh?” You somehow managed to fuck up again, so you shrink yourself and hope to disappear. “I don’t know… Why would I know what Snow’s type is…? It’s probably not a playboy like the bunny, but I wouldn’t know that…!”
“So you think she’d like someone more… considerate?”
You nod. “Probably just someone who takes the time to get to know her.”
“I guess we’ll see in the upcoming chapters.”
“I’m looking forward to it.” You can’t quite hold back a smile. After all, your day always feels a lot better when it involves your favorite little comic.
Jungkook must’ve noticed your face because he makes a comment. “I am curious, though, as to why you like Witch Hazel so much when you clearly don’t care for Snow herself.”
“For me, it has nothing to do with Snow.” To mask your smile, you make a cute duck face instead. “Reading it just… makes me happy.” As much as you’d hate to admit it, it’s been a long time since anything has given you good vibes the way that one comic does.
“That’s good,” the boy says, gathering his things to head to his next class. “It’s the same for me with Snow’s music… in case you were wondering.” And with that, he leaves you with something to think about.
If Snow’s music is Jungkook’s medicine, Witch Hazel is yours.
-
By the time you get home from school, you’re still smiling like an idiot after what Jungkook had said. Snow’s music makes him happy, and the mere thought of that makes you happy. It’s in (very rare) times like this that you remember why you chose to become an idol in the first place. It’s why you endure the pain.
With your mind clouded in an unfamiliar wave of emotion, you pull out your phone and tap on Jungkook’s contact information. After changing his contact name to something cuter, you start composing a casual message just to say hi.
Jungkook. What if I told you a secret?
Delete. You’ve never deleted a message so quick. You don’t even know which secret you would’ve told the boy. That you’re his crush, Snow? Or that he’s yours? Not that you have a huge crush on him… You swear it’s just a tiny one!
Regardless, you shouldn’t be sharing any of your deepest secrets with him—at least not for now. It’s not that you don’t trust him. It’s just that it’s a tricky situation to be in.
Your eyes move from your guitar, to the stacks of handwritten sheet music beside it, to the album that won you your first award—where the pain all began. Even the most supportive fan could not imagine what you’ve given up to be the idol that you are, to be someone with a name.
The only thing you can do now is take it all back. And only then will you let Jungkook in. But until that time comes, you don’t belong to him or anyone else.
4:44PM Snow “Are you free to talk?”
4:46PM Jimin “Yeah”

Triform Trinity’s Questions
If you had the chance to write one article that could change a person’s life. What would you write about given your previous content?
Based on my previous content I guess it would be about not feeling awkward/guilty/bad/etc about your hobbies that some people perceive as lazy or negative, like gaming or anything else you might enjoy doing in your spare time, and learning to embrace them.
One day you see a portal to another world. Where does it take you?
A world where everyone is a mythical creature (based on their personality) so some are unicorns, some are fairies, dryads, griffins, satyrs, etc… But there’s also gorgons, sirens, crab people, werewolves… None are necessarily good or evil, so no big war going on, they all find a way to use their talents, sirens give singing lessons, griffins are used for long distance air travel, dryads are great gardeners, the satyrs are really good musicians, gorgons are great sculptors. They just have loads of great parties.
What type of music is your home? The type that you can always fall back on to fully relax and is the one that interests you the most.
My mum has really good taste in music (in my opinion) and I love listening to my favourites from her selection when I’m chilling out. This would be stuff like Otis Redding, Amy Winehouse, Kirsty Maccoll, The Small Faces, Salt-N-Pepa, Destiny’s Child… So sort of souly with some tongue in cheek pop I guess.
You are making a game, what genre are going with and why?
I would make an RPG because I’m always a big fan of those and I love the freedom you have in some of them to develop your character.
Breathing in space or breathing under water. Which one do you choose?
I would love to breathe underwater. Mermaid was pretty high on my list of what I wanted to be when I grew up. I absolutely love swimming and if I could breathe underwater I would just build myself a little sea house in a nice coral reef somewhere… I never understood The Little Mermaid, why would you give up being a mermaid for a guy? Especially a guy you’ve only seen once. Ariel was a bit of an idiot really.
Favorite mascot?
Mascots aren’t really a huge thing in the UK… Can I say the deflating Pikachu that got aggressively dragged off stage at the Pokémon World Festival? I felt bad for him.
What is your morning routine before going to work/school/etc.?
I fight the urge to stay in bed, wondering how long it would take for people to come and kick me out of my flat and super comfortable bed if I just never went to work. I eventually drag myself up and turn off the alarm that I have to now leave at the other side of the room because I can’t be trusted to have it next to the bed in case I snooze it. I grumble my way to the kitchen and do 15 minutes of yoga where I go through an incredible transformation turning into something resembling a human being somewhere between cobra pose and sun salutation. Then I have a smoothie, get dressed, pack my lunch and snacks for the day, make sure my pet rats have some food, realise I’m running a little late, sprint out the door and go downstairs, run back up the stairs because I think I forgot to lock the door but no, I did lock the door, so I sprint back out and head to work.
Tell me a story of when you encountered your first video game.
I honestly don’t remember my first video game, let alone the encounter. It was probably either Tetris or Pokémon Yellow. I’ll talk about the latter because I remember that one the most, and rather than tell a story, as I can’t remember it, I’ll just say what I remember. First off, I really hated Gary Oak. From the arrogant music that accompanied him and his trademark ‘smell ya later!’ slogan I hated him. I ‘d call him Buttface or something to get petty revenge but it was never enough. One thing I did love was Pikachu, especially the fact that Pikachu walks behind you and you can talk to him. I always enjoyed starting the game over after a few gyms, I liked getting the weaker Pokémon and getting them to evolve (and I still do!). I played it in a very chill way and just enjoyed wandering about. I loved my Gameboy Colour and would take it everywhere with me, even battling my bad car sickness sometimes so that I could play it more. Hope that makes up for not being able to remember the story of my first encounter with it!
Actual pic of my Gameboy Color and Pokémon Yellow game, both of which still work!
What is your element?
Water.
Why is this your element?
I love water, as mentioned in a previous question I would love to be a mermaid. If I ever got super rich I’d have a swim up bar in my garden swimming pool with flumes, diving boards, slides, everything… It would be like a water utopia. Besides swimming in it I love the sound of the rain, it’s a really calming sound, and I drink loads of it I guess so there’s that too.
Running or walking to your destination?
I hate jogging, it’s one of the wort things someone could voluntarily put themselves through. Why someone would choose to do that? Walking it is!

The Codex: Online’s Questions
1. In your lifetime, what has been your favorite year for gaming?
Ah, well after writing a post a while ago where I had to list a game for each year I’ve been alive I realised that 2002 actually had so many games that I love come out. Primarily Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, Neverwinter Nights, Age of Mythology, and Pokémon Sapphire.
2. Favorite Console? Why?
Right now PS4 because it’s my only console, we do have a PC but I don’t want to spend more time on a PC after being at work all day so it gets put on the side lines a bit. I do really want a Nintendo Switch though and I dare say that might take the place of favourite if I get one.
3. Favorite song on the radio, right now?
I don’t actually listen to the radio that much because I hate hearing the same songs over and over again, unfortunately I can’t always escape it in the office so I think I would say IDGAF by Dua Lipa. It’s not the sort of thing I normally listen to but it’s fun and catchy.
4. Favorite shower jam song?
I’M WALKING ON SUNSHIIIIINE WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAH!!!!
5. Perfect weather?
I love the sun. I live really close to the beach and I often wish for lovely sunny days so that I can go there for the whole day. I love taking a good book, eating ice cream, sun bathing and attempting to swim in the English Channel, I’ve tried it several times and once your entire body goes numb you don’t notice how cold it is!
6. A place you’ve travelled to before and wish you’d never left?
This is kind of skewed because a) I was very young and you tend to remember things in a more glorified way when you’re younger, and b) I had the 5 star treatment in an amazing hotel and resort so it’s not really the experience of the actual country itself or one that I’d be able to afford now. When I was 7 we went to Dubai and I can still remember it so well, it was absolutely incredible. We stayed in a wave shaped hotel next to a water park and an incredible beach, the food was amazing, everything I remember was amazing… I would love to go back one day. I’m worried that I’ll be disappointed though because things will have changed so much or it won’t be how I remembered it.
Maybe one day I’ll go back…
7. If you were invited to an episode of dancing with the stars, but had to be matched with a villain from your favorite game(s), who would your partner be?
I think Ganon from Legend of Zelda would dance a mean Tango. I probably wouldn’t because I would have a hard time keeping a straight face but he’d be pretty good.
Tumblr media
8. Orlando, Florida. Would you rather spend the weekend at Universal Studios or Magic Kingdom (and all of it’s affiliated parks)?
I have never been to America, let alone Florida. I would love to go though. There’s so much I’d love to see in both Florida and just the whole of America that I don’t think I’d ever get the time!
I’d love to go to both of these but if I had to choose I think I’d go for Universal Studios, just because they have a Harry Potter section.
9. Did you invent a language when you were young? What was it called?
I did not, I wasn’t quite that creative!
10. Mc’Donalds or Burger King?
I do’t really eat fast food that much, and when I do it’s usually pizza. I suppose between these two I’d choose McDonald’s because I do like milkshakes and chicken nuggets.
11. Do you like the feeling of being warm in cold weather or being cool on a sunny day?
I hate being cold so I would say being warm in cold weather. I am one of those people that has a blanket in the office so that I can feel warmer when it’s cold. It’s actually a scarf but it’s really wide so it covers most of me. I’ve considered buying a heater to put under my desk and warm my feet as well…
  My Nominees

My Questions
Are you going on holiday this year? (Or where have you already been on holiday this year?)
Type “I want a” into your phone and then let predictive text come up with the rest, then tell us what it says! (OK, this isn’t a question but I think it’s fun.)
Have you ever met someone famous?
What was the last thing you read? (Or the last movie you watched if you’re not into reading.)
What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
What would be your dream guest line-up a Comic Con?
You have to fight a minotaur, answer a difficult riddle, or climb a mountain to advance to the next stage of your life. Which one would you choose to do?
Which TV show is your guilty pleasure?
If you were to get sucked into a video game, like in the new Jumanji movie, would you be secretly pleased?
Which video game do you come back to over and over again and why?
If you could play only three games for the rest of your life, what would they be?
Thank you again for the nominations, and I hope you guys enjoy answering my questions!
