the way Roman makes himself small and dissolves into childlike body language when Kendall’s on the phone getting the bad news but when Shiv comes in and completely breaks down, he encourages her to step away and say something to Logan on the phone in case he can hear it and then when she cries more he approaches her and physically comforts her and my heart hurts at thinking about how Roman is devastated but finds fragile strength to get it together to take care of Shiv :( fuuuuuuck

Rewatching the 3rd episode for the (possibly) twentieth time I discovered

That my stupid-ass brain struggled with Hua Cheng images in it a bit

Not just because it belongs to a nitpicky bitch of an artist who has a Hua Cheng hyperfixation and overanalyses every single shot

But also because-

-again, because I’ve been rewatching the first season

almost every single week

for a year

And therefore became too used to Hua Cheng as San Lang

In his soft neat baby form

I do not know this handsome rat man

who i bet walks around with such unkempt hair in hopes of making gege brush it again

or just tuck the loose strands behind his ear like in them fanfics

or maybe gift him a comb

which actually fucking means “let’s stay together until our hair turns white” in China???

But that being said

The animators did a great job, because he looks different from San Lang’s form in the exact way that was pointed out in the novel:

He still has the air youthful mischief about him, but now it’s shaped in sharper features, in a wilder, more dangerous and arrogant way

Yet he also did not lose his sincere softness y-y🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻💕💦✨

i’m a big fan of how in richie’s episode the director used imagery and shot composition and atmosphere and all that to add elements of certain genre tropes to show how richie was feeling. like when he was going to this restaurant the horror lighting

and This Shot (soooo get out core)

and the music all contributed to this horror movie scene where you’re half expecting something to jump out from behind him because that’s how richie feels about this experience. it’s horrific. it’s a punishment. it’s daunting and scary and he hates it- he sees it like a horror movie.

and then right before the montage where richie learns to serve people, the like 90s action movie quick zooms onto his and garret’s faces really show his excitement and how he’s seeing this as the climax where the hero (him) finally gets to shine after all of his training.

it was such a cool way to show the viewer richie’s thoughts and perspective on the situation. major W by christopher storer + the writers

feels characteristic (affectionate) of lou and zac to play very like. straightforward/Not Great At Politics pcs, given their past pcs within calorum (see: acoc ap ep 5, lou talking abt playing amethar so he doesn't have to be good at politics + zac talking about how playing lapin was hard bc he doesnt think/talk like that; by the time cumulous was in the picture there wasnt really Politics to deal with) vs iyengar + mulligan getting spicy with it and playing devious untrustworthy bitches w big ol secrets.

Is that him as a kid?

I considered for a hot second that Loki might be that horse.

There is never a moment too dire for Mobius to grab a snack, and I relate to that on a deep and personal level.

Ok so I've never watched a whole ass tpk before and I don't know how tf I'm supposed to go to bed now??? BUT I will say my best theory rn is that they are going to come back as the same characters, trapped by the narrative you know? And the charisma saves Brennan had them roll are whether they'll remember this loop of the story or not. After all, why give tokens to dead characters, unless maybe they aren't dead, not really. Not to mention the big bad wolf asking red if she'd remember.

I love cutscenes. honestly a missed opportunity to not include cutscenes in the remastered trilogy
