This is Viria. She's a half human, half desert elf, and she's a sorcerer keenly attuned with the element of fire.

Viria is the child of an affair, and as such her human family has irrationally blamed her for ruining their marriage since pretty much the day she was born. Victim of relentless domestic abuses, she ran away from her home in her mid-teens shortly after coming into her magical abilities and burning down her family's house.

While on the run she would happen to meet Zafira. The young delinquent, hearing her story out and recognizing a similar tale to hers, decided to take her under her wing. Together they'd rob travelers on the countryside, vandalize private property and steal whatever the came across. Viria had never exactly been unlawful, but she came to admire that strong girl who doesn't let life bring her down, who was determinet to take what she needed. With time, she realized she even started having feelings for her.

She never had a chance to confess them, though. Their escapades had eventually garnered the attention of two adventurers who cornered the two girls. Viria was ready to make a stand but, to her horrified surprise, Zafira put her in harm's way to create an opening for an escape. Abandoned and betrayed, Viria wouldn't offer much of a fight and, still in a state of shock, let herself be captured.

The adventurers however, who were there only to apprehend Zafira for a murder months committed before meeting the half-elf, recognized Viria as a victim of the circumstances. Despite having consigned her to the guards they felt they couldn't in good conscience leave her there. Eventually they decided to talk with the authorities and have her released on parole; they'd take responsability for her and, in the event that she couldn't be rehabilitated, they'd see her back to prison.

It didn't start out in the best of ways. Viria would begrudgingly accept to the conditions of her freedom, but she was rebellious and obstinate to not give any satisfaction to those two adventurers whom she believed had ruined her life. With time, however, she'd start to warm up to them, to the first real positive reinforcement she had received in her life. She'd discover the joy of helping others, the warmth of their gratitude, she'd learn to respond to kindness with kindness, as the positive outlook on life of her traveling companion finally started to influence her.

Eventually, as she grew up into adulthood, she would choose to wear bring and colorful clothes, dye her hair in an equally bright blond, and it'd be rare to find her not smiling. Life, in other words, was good.
