i have oodles of updates!

i have a new kitten! her name is mimsy (as in the jabberwocky poem)

i also have a new degree i’m working towards! drexel is getting rid of their MSLIS program and introducing the MSI LIS in the fall, with additional, non-library specializations in digital content management and human-computer interaction!

i’m going to double up and continue my current degree but work towards the specialization

in the future students just get to pick one of three majors, i’m in a weird transition stage of the curriculum so i can “double up” on the degrees

A new and improved moleskine notebook that I’ll use as a planner/agenda for school - it’s all stuff that I already had at home, my dad uses moleskines for work stuff but only ‘professional coloured’ ones so he gave me this one, washi tape is from ikea I got it a while ago for presents, and I’ve got no clue where that lace stuff is from it was in my mom’s basket of sewing stuff and I stitched it onto the elastic of the notebook

I don’t have too much of an opinon on either, I think I’ve used soundcloud more, but I like the idea of vinyls better!

My favorite color is blue!! I paint my nails blue, my room is mostly blue, my blankets are blue, I dyed my hair blue :D Blue. I’m definitely more of an electric blue person, but I’m not prejudiced, I do like darker blues, lighter blues, blue is GoodTM.

Why A Studyblr

I'm really good at planning but stick to it around 3% of the time and a studyblr seems like good motivation to do so

It is a self-fueling system that is a nice break from studying while still staying in the same frame of mind

I love journalling, hand lettering, and all that fancy ish

I want to make some awesome friends who I can nerd to lmao

What To Expect

hi! im natalia :) I have been on tumblr following the studyblr community for as long as I can remember, hence the amount of FAVS I've listed below. I have had the highest grades in the past two quarters of my senior year, but I've also had a few panic attacks which resulted from waiting till the last minute for a lot of my tasks. I realize that actually engaging myself in the studyblr community by posting frequently will push me to strive for the best.

last weeks spread 🌱🌼 almost everyone will be in school after this holiday weekend but i’ll still be kicking it at the beach for another week. the weather isn’t too great so lots of folks have already gone home for the fall. it’s so quiet and peaceful here. i’m excited for school to start up but i’ll miss these quiet days at the beach.

this post from @wlw-type-of-the-day made me cry happy tears and so it’s the first page in my bullet journal/planner, just to remind me of why i’m choosing to do what i’m doing.

i’m fascinated by stem fields, and it’s so important to me that kids, especially little girls, can have someone to look up to and inspire them to love science. i was lucky to have that as a kid, my dad worked at the space centre and taught astro at the university and he introduced me to his female colleagues when i went to pick him up at work with my mum. he helped me to learn to love math and science, encouraging me when i got stuck, staying up until 2am helping me to finish that last ap calc assignment. he’s always trying to make academia better for women, when he runs a conference he asks me how to make it inclusive and when he attends a conference he asks how it could be improved and then does it at his next conference. one of my earliest memories of him teaching is when i had to go school with him because i was sick from school and no one could take the day off for me. i went to his astro lecture and sat in the front row next to this girl and i had my colouring book, when i dropped things she’d help me pick them up and when they were learning something interesting, she explained it to me in 4 year old terms so i could understand how cool it was that we even have the ability to know that.

so long story short, i want to be like a combination of my dad and this girl, to be a role model to little girls and help kids realize that science is actually so damn cool
