despite their duck-like bills and webbed feet, the duck-billed platypus (often known simply as the platypus) is not a bird, but a very unique mammal. this species, endemic to eastern australia, has a number of unique adaptations. they are one of only five species of mammal who lay eggs rather than give live birth. they forage for around 10-12 hours daily, primarily for small aquatic invertebrates like crayfish; they use electroreception to locate their prey. the species is also biofluorescent, turning bluish-green under UV light. male platypuses are also venomous; they have a spur on the back of their hind flippers that produces a venom that can be harmful to humans. females have a small spur, but are not venomous. these creatures are largely antisocial and as such produce few vocalizations, as they rarely communicate among their own species.

Pokémon Hatch From Eggs.
Therefore Pokémon have a cloaca.
There are Pokémon that fit with lizards, birds, amphibians, as well as mammals.
Aside from Monotremes (spiny echidna, duck billed platypus) Mammals don’t lay eggs.
Pikachu is a Pokémon that has traditionally mammalian characteristics.
Pikachu is a monotreme.
Perry the platypus and Pikachu are cousins.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Prompt 21: Fur
The Platigrade
For the fur prompt, I'm fast forwarding up to Just The Zoo of Us episode 24, with a very zany pairing of the Tardigrade and the Platypus.
The Duck-Billed Tardigrade or Platigrade is an amazingly resilient creature. This tiny micro-animal has dense fur that is biofluorescent, taking on a bluish green glow under UV light.
They are very popular among student scientists for their unique features, visible even with low-power microscopes after they are collected from their habitat.
Color Vision:
While I have not colored this creature (yet), I envision their coloring is mainly inspired by the Platypus.
Side note: To learn more about the inspiration behind this series, please check out the captions in any of my first three hybrid animals from this month!

Wanted to draw these three real quick. That’s all (used this format for reason, don’t think on it too much).
