Ballister and Goldenloin poses. My final assignment on Nimona: Explore Goldenloin’s character. But where to start?? This was a super important question. I didn’t know where to begin. I knew he was heroic, brave and from nobility. But that alone wouldn’t lead me to any interesting poses. I finally decided to ask the question… “Why did Ballister fall in love with Goldenloin to begin with? What was it about him that was so magnetic?” My starting point was to create that moment where two people meet for the first time, and in a magical way, they attract each other. And we’ve all felt that at some point in our lives… that feeling you have when you can’t know enough about the other person… and you want to spend every moment together.✨From this I created a montage of Ballister and Goldenloin spending a day in the kingdom together when they were young…and in that montage Goldenloin’s confidence and charisma really drew out Ballister’s shy personality. And at the end of that day together, they kinda knew they had something special between each other. I pitched this to the directors @itsnickbruno and @troyquane. I was so sure something like this needed to be in the movie. And like so many times in my career, I was proven wrong:) The directors did something way more impressive than a montage. What they did was drop little lines through the movie that signaled to the audience that Ballister and Goldenloin knew each other so well and that they had this past that proved they cared about each other in a way that could only be described as love. BUT… the poses I did from my first idea remained, and that idea informed every single drawing I did for Goldenloin moving forward.

Small photo collage I made in celebration of my 5th anniversary moving to LA yesterday. Caption mostly stolen from Instagram with slight modification for clarity (IG is daylightmeltdown if you want to follow me over there, btw!):

The week leading up to the move was one of the craziest in my entire life. I flew out from the small town in central CA I’d lived in to Chicago for Cold Waves VII to see one of the greatest show lineups I have ever witnessed. HIDE, Omniflux, Cocksure, Lead Into Gold, Chemlab, and ohGr all back to back! Insane!!

On the 24th, I flew back from Chicago to LAX, met my parents who brought my stuff to move, stayed in a motel overnight, and the next morning (9/25) I moved into my first ever living space in LA, a dorm on the UCLA campus. I missed the actual moving day because of the show! Hence the message I wrote on a whiteboard outside my room.

About two weeks later I got the puppy Ogre drew for me at Cold Waves tattooed to celebrate the whole moving process. Also pictured in that photo set is the first photo I took of the window beside my bed, my first view in LA.

Moving to LA was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I love this city so much. I love the life I have here, all the friends I’ve made and relationships I’ve forged, all the experiences I’ve had. I’m so grateful. It’s crazy finding old journal entries from before I moved lamenting how lonely I was and how out of place I felt and how much I just wanted to know other people like me. I feel like my life barely started before then. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years! Feels simultaneously like an eternity and like no time has passed at all. 🖤✨

Actually, yeah, I do.

Delta was a character I made when I was first dipped my toes in the furry fandom... Sort of.

So, some context.

Before Delta, my fursona was a sergal named Marvin, an influencer that gave people on Instagram or TikTok or whatever inspirational quotes along the lines of "If a nobody like me can do it, so can you!" or "Go beyond your limits, Plus Ultra!" ...But he wasn't looking right when I drew him, so I started over.

I actually redrew Marvin last year, but he's more of a dragon now, and I'll provide an image when I can.

I was watching some videos of furry content, and I learned what an ampwave was... Yeah, that's pretty straightforward. If you haven't read Delta's story(Don't fret if you haven't, just know he isn't known as Delta yet,) the ampwave in that story, Hertz, is actually my second attempt at a fursona. Unfortunately, I lost his page due to my sketchbook experiencing wear-and-tear(I've had it for almost seven years now, and I wasn't taking the best care of it), although I remember the core parts of his design. Maybe I'll draw him for real later.

And of course, Delta. He's always had this name, but his backstory and plot of his current story used to be so wildly different. The beginning of it is nearly identical, so I won't speak of it because spoilers, but his story used to be more of a shonen kind of plot, and he would've had awesome powers, and he would've been such a badass, and...

Yeah, no. That completely went against what I wanted from him. Now, his whole shebang is more of a slice-of-life kinda thing, minus a few things that happen later.

Delta's design also used to be crazy different, but his old page also got lost with Hertz's.

For Jason, he was very... boring, when I first created him. His name used to be Blake, and he would've lived in Kalos. His starter would've been a Froakie, and of course, it would've evolved into a Greninja with Battle Bond. He used to just be an Ash wannabe, and never, ever lost a fight, ever, and he was so cool, and everyone loved him.

Again, no. That's boring, at least to me.

A few years later, I got Pokemon Sword for Christmas. It was my first Pokemon game(Legitimately, at least. My true first game was Fire Red), and I was able to customize my character fairly freely. I named him Jason(I liked the name), and began working on his design as I played the game. Experimented with different hairstyles, looks, what Pokemon I used, I was going strictly off of what I liked, and the overall

✨vibes.✨

I'm not revealing my Galar team yet, because some of the mons in that playthrough set up the Sinnoh Arc, also known as my Shining Pearl playthrough.

Jayden was a similar case, though. She was made for my Shield playthough, because I wanted to learn how to design female characters(That, and Jason was already a boy, so I thought it would be fun to choose the girl, a callback to my Fire Red playthrough). Over time, I just... decided that they were siblings I guess??? Jayden was older than Jason because she happened to look that way at the time.

As for why they lived in Unova,

I live in America, and Unova is just Pokemon's answer to New York, and...

...I just wanted a good enough reason for Jason to have a Samurott.

I'll make a part 2 eventually, but this post is already like, really friggin' long.

“It’s literally not a big deal.” Drew finally argues, getting up to go to the kitchen. “Oh, but it is. You’re sitting among your friends in the living room of the apartment. Your seated next to Drew, friends littering the seats around you and on the floor in front of you as you all listened to music, laughing, and talking.

You’ve noticed the constant glares Drew had been given Chase every time he wiggled his eyebrows over towards him. You disregarded the looks, sure it was some inside joke or argument they had had earlier that day.

It wasn’t until someone stole Chase’s spot when he got up for another drink that he let out what seemed to be Drew’s deepest darkest *insert sarcasm* secret. Some bachelors and bachelorettes I chose when I played Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games ❤️

I forgot to post this here months ago!! Like I posted this to my Instagram account months ago, but never posted it here, until now!

I’m not gonna rewrite what I wrote on Instagram to here because I’m on mobile, but this started out as a mermay thing and evolved into me drawing all the people I married in those games!

🧢 In the top left is Gray, who’s a bit shy 💕 He was my first husband of the games when I played the games for the first time in More Friends of Mineral Town (which my grandpa got me when I was a kid ☺️) and my most recent when I played Story of Seasons FoMt ❤️ He obviously holds a special place in my heart ❤️

🧜‍♀️ On the bottom right is Leia, who I chose in HM DS. If I remember she took a lot of work to marry but it was totally worth it, though I probably lost that file due to using in game hacks 😭 And she had to live out in my duck pond, my poor girl 😭 I wish she lived in like a river or something so she had more room!

🩺 On the bottom left is Hiro, who I married in ToTT. I don’t know why I chose to marry him like I don’t remember, but I don’t think I did him (or Leia) justice when I drew them, I’m sorry if they’re your faves 😭

🔮 On top right we have the Oracle, who I also married in ToTT (I had two separate files in this game because there were two towns to be a part of, so yeah 😃). I feel like her requirements were also a lot, but also worth it! And she’s so detailed I loved drawing her (even though I’m lazy with deets). And she loves fluffy stuff I think 💖

Lol I feel like I might have written the same stuff and them some 😅

Also this was me testing different outlines and stuff and giving each of them different poses. Also I wanted to do alt colors for Gray and the Oracle, but I didn’t do that lol. I had other notes when I first posted this but I forgot them 🥲 though I will say, I love how Gray (except for like his hands) and the Oracle came out!

I also noted that (once I feel like drawing again) I wanted to draw the Stardew bachelors and bachelorettes that I married too! ✨
