so. Dream gets cursed by an spurned admirer/ex/random vindictive magic user which he pays absolutely no mind to because he's definitely been cussed out worse than that.

But suddenly anyone and everyone he encounters becomes a simpering mess/fawning idiot around him. in the Dreaming, everyone acts so horrendously out of character that it becomes so so awkward for him. absolutely tanks his productivity. the earthquakes (dreamquakes?) may or may not facilitate in some necessary physical distancing. someone lobs the L word at him and he nearly rips a hole through space and time to get away. it's better/worse in the Waking world. he doesn't know these people trying to seduce him. but they are still trying to seduce him so he does the Endless version of power walking away from this problem.

and he makes his way to The New Inn where he knows Hob is. he has absolutely no idea what Hob can do but going to a friend is a better alternative to just going from realm to realm, power walking away from a collection of people convinced they are in love?? with him????

Hob is definitely at his usual place in the New Inn and can absolutely feel the change in atmosphere the moment Dream enters. suddenly everyone zeroes in on Dream and Hob...has never seen that expression on his friend's face. like a cornered animal, if only in the form of a more than a god, no less than a goth that is Dream of the Endless. so Hob manages to shoo away the crowd from Dream, using his extraordinary powers of being the owner of the inn everyone is in to good use.

they hole up at Hob's place and try to figure out what the actual fuck is going on. Hob concludes that yes Dream, someone saying that "your lack of understanding of love is obviously caused by the scarcity of it in your life," and "that can be solved easily," is at the v least a red flag and at most the reason why there is a horde of people on your walking aphrodisiac ass rn. Dream points out that it's mild criticism not a curse. Hob does not have the training or time to unpack that one today.

hijinks that occur while they're trying to uncurse Dream:

call in Constantine for back up. the house call goes very badly for everyone involved. there was a sultry come on. a creature older than humanity lowkey scrambling up the kitchen shelves. an immortal testing his immortality by throwing a hissing magic user out the door. anyway. the consultation goes on much better on the phone. everyone promises never to talk about this incident ever again.

Dream contemplating on whether he should call on his siblings because they might know something about this or even causing it. but what they also get affected by this curse. would Dream be able to handle that?? and his thoughts spin out of control until Dream wordlessly just lies down on Hob's living room floor. Hob panics because is this the next part of the curse??? no it's just Dream borrowing trouble which is it's own curse but one at a time please and thank you.

Hob fighting off a delivery person who nearly breaks the door down when they catch a glimpse of Dream still on the living room floor. no one was hurt, no dumplings were forsaken, a huge tip was placed on the delivery person's face before closing the door.

the nature of love is discussed over dimsum. it's mostly how Dream deserves to be loved and respected (Hob) vs huh what a concept (Dream)

Matthew tries to sneak in so Hob and Dream have to find new hiding places in the Hob's place. the current favorite is under a blanket with a flashlight on

At some point Dream realizes that Hob is just. the way he usually is around Dream. no throwing himself af Dream or flowery declarations or anything??? Dream concludes (wrongly) that Hob's immortality might be making him immune. Hob is just sitting there, wondering if going "lol no, it's too late for that!! i've been down bad for you for centuries!!!" would be an appropriate response. it's not but god is he tempted. he gives in to his other temptation and lets Dream think that "yes immortality has anti-curse properties i guess, you really do learn something new everyday (cue nervous laughter)" 👀👀👀

QINGMING MISSION: sat for an hour and a half in my cousin-in-law's cigarette-scented minivan (which i also got carsick in due in part to his crazy-ass driving and me being a delicate flower in general), shuffled around the joss bucket trying to stay upwind of it, got covered in incense ash while paying respects, got second-hand family drama, and then sat through an uncomfortable dimsum and dinner.

haven't had any dreams involving grandfather, but the dreams i've had since - that i remember - have all been horror-themed.

Cathay Pacific Internship - First Official Shift

We had to report at 7:30 PM for my first official shift at Cathay, so I made sure to arrive at the airport on time once again. I was quite nervous on the way to the airport since I didn't know what to anticipate and it felt like I was stepping outside of my comfort zone and finally getting closer and closer to my dream. I kept going through the notes I had taken from the orientation day as the bus was taking me to the airport to make sure I still remembered all I needed to know. When I arrived at the Cathay Pacific office, there were so many other Cathay Pacific employees that I hadn't seen since the orientation and I was very shy as I greeted them. To prepare, I went straight to our change room and changed into my Cathay Pacific uniform, and I was so happy and excited because I felt like I was finally a part of the Cathay Pacific team. When I finished getting ready, I went into our office's lounge area and saw my friends who I was doing the placement with that night. After a few minutes, everyone had finished getting ready and looked very professional in their uniforms.

We all waited at the office, and then I had my first ever briefing. Frances, one of our DAOM, introduced the other team members that were present that evening with us, and I was thrilled and happy to see them. Frances then asked every one of us interns to introduce ourselves one by one, and when it was my turn, she asked me to stand up and show my uniform. I stood up, showed my uniform, and introduced myself to the rest of the team for the first time. Of course, I was still nervous at this point, but I could also feel the excitement.

As the briefing continued, we learned how many passengers will be present that night, what the restrictions are for some of the final destinations that our passengers will fly to, and other important details that everyone must remember that night. After the briefing, we went to get everything we needed for the shift, such as our Dimsum Cart, lineup signage, and so on. As we approached the floor with the check-in counters, kiosks, and baggage drop, there were already a large number of people waiting for us to set up, so I acted quickly and placed the Premium Economy and Business signs in their right positions.

As we finished setting up, I began talking to the customers in line because my first task was to assist with the Queue. I asked passengers if they were flying with Cathay Pacific and what class of service they were flying in, as well as their final destination, because some passengers are unable to use the kiosk machines depending on their destination. I also received some challenging questions for which I had no answers to, so I'm grateful to all of the other Cathay employees who were present to answer my questions and assist me with the passengers in the Queue. As time passed, my friends and I had to rotate so that we could all experience the various shift codes (Queue, Kiosk, SSBD). When I got into the kiosks, I struggled a little with how to properly put on the baggage tags for the passengers who needed assistance, but thanks to the team, they taught me how to do it again. I also got to try SSBD briefly, and in this position, I assisted customers in properly weighing their bags and scanning their boarding passes so they could check their bags in.

I also got to see all of the Pilots and Flight Attendants for the flight that night, and I was able to assist some of them with putting baggage tags on their luggage. Seeing them up close inspired me, and I can't wait to be able to work as a Flight Attendant like them in the near future.

Overall, my first shift was a roller coaster of emotions. It was an exciting and nerve-racking experience for me because it was my first day and I'm still in the process of making mistakes and learning. I'm grateful to all of the Cathay staff who assisted me that night, as well as to my friends with whom I did the internship that night, because they made the experience less stressful for me and allowed me to relax and feel more at ease.

Strolling around prawirotaman; tjemara noodle, art and craft space, tirtodipuran link, kebun buku, lawson. Having my first job ever. Moving from my favorite place on earth.

The march, going to pasar wiguna and reunited with isma. Watching suzume. Meet kak fira, mas danish, and dek al. Trying por aqui and the iconic.

Fourth month, trying to open jastip. Bukber with cece. Trying gudeg bromo, ayam gulai, golden geisha, nanamia pizzeria, tous ler jous. Going home. Spending ramadhan with people at home. Celebrating eid with extended family. Meet geng8. Vacation to Malaysia with ayah, bunda, kak qi, and adek. Seventeen release FML album.

May. Going back to jogja. Start journaling for fun. Trying sophie's sunset sunset library, cuena coffee, bungah, nasi teri gejayan. xyz coffee. Going to jogja beauty fest with mbak flos. Watching spiderman across the spiderverse.

The next month, join noraebang with mbak flos. Meet aliya, oma, and tante erna. Visited by mom and dad. Trip around jogja, solo, and pacitan with them. Meet kak fira's family again. Celebrating eid adha. Going to dongeng kopi and watching staar syndrom, onde mande, elemental force, the childe.

July would be a month full of reconnecting. Attending kak dika's wedding. Meeting firda in solo; going to loske, tfp, uma yumcha dimsum, pasar gede. Visiting alifa; patjar merah and lokananta. Having a day off; trying mie sapi banteng, dongeng kopi, warung yanto, cosan. Going to bantul to try sena cafe, meet sagita at jnm bloc, eat kazu ramen. EXO's comeback. Going to rumah miguni with mbak flos. Celebrating wonwoo's birthday. Watching barbie, my precious, and smugglers.

August. I am becoming the full timer in my work place. Going to toko buku nathan and trying ness donut. Watching the moon and head over heels towards do kyungsoo. Parting ways with some friends. Having a barbecue party with team.

This is the special month. I am coming home and gathering with families. Having spirited journey and doing umroh. Cutting of all the connection with real world, praying, worshiping, spending time with my favourite support system in Allah's house. Spending a week at Turkiye, road trip all over it. Spending time with myself and my loved ones. Listening over and over to Pengantar Purifikasi Pikir and Expectation. Reading Loki Tua

October, coming back to jogja and working again. Watching petualangan sherina, iu's golden hour, killers of the flower moon, and cobweb. Noraebang here and there with mbak flos. Seeing blooming season in this city.

November. Getting closer to farah. Reuniting with ilak. Going to bakmie 88, sintesis, kedai ketjil, fore, gyoza sutra, roti jala tanah melayu, baked me to the moon. Watching budi pekerti, love reset, past lives. Learning making beads with farah. Attending JAFF. Meeting lots of cool people. The last month, my favourite December. Ending JAFF; watching Fallen Angels, attending the closing ceremony with Andri, watching 13 Bom di Jakarta. Evaluation with the team. Going to mie ayam grabyas, hotway chicken, homeground crsl, makmur chicken. Taking a day off to explore prawirotaman; my little warung, house of zaw, kebun buku, lakaey, and walking around kota baru. Finishing reading what you are looking for is in the library and watching the boy and the heron. Meet vika, trying kopitiam, journaling together. Watching live viewing seventeen follow the tour in cinema. Early christmas and birthday dinner with mbak flos at francis pizza and cheese cake cafe. Working in a very packed store during christmas till new year's eve. Celebrating my birthday; cleaning the room, going to periplus to buy a gift for myself, visiting dear eleanor to taking picture of my older self, journaling. Spending the last day of the year in work with a full heart. Meeting mbak flos' warm and beautiful family.

See, it's not a bad year after all. Of course, there are lots of tears, mental breakdown, fears, worries, and hurting myself and people around me. But you gotta experience lots of things, spend your days with your loved ones, going to places you never go before, eating lots of good food. Making connection with people. Buying and collecting lots of cute stuff. Enjoying lots of good films, music, books, and another form of art. So maybe this mundane and mediocre life, is good enough.

JULY

July, my birthday month, though it ain't making any different. The month i travel a lot, month that I nervously waiting as I knew would experience many new things.

July 2nd

This day, i wanna do a lot of things in my bucket lists. Watching elemental, I heard it being a good romance cartoon many people could relate. I asked my friends previously if anyone were interested, but i was being impatience, i wanted to do it immediately, so i ended up waching it alone. Not a big deal for me tho. After watching the cute movie, I eat my legendary high school dish chicken katsu noodle, also alone. At this point i must be looked very sad and lonely. But I really value my time and other's too, I don't have to wait for other when i could comfortably do it mysef. Others don't have to enforce themselves do the things they actually doesn't really interested in and spent money on it.

The-me-time day hadn't end yet. After having dinner, I went to watch artjog, anual art exhibition, the biggest and most famous one. I bought bundling ticket for exhibtion and theater stage. It would be my first time watching profesional theater performance, I was really excited. There were a lot of paintings and installation, but i was in a rush as the theater was about to start.

The artists were really cool. I could see their talents, their passions, and when all the staff were being called at the end of the performance, i was really moved. It's how art were made.

july 3rd

My birthday. Nothing different. There's no birthday present, just a little dimsum-as-a-cake surprised from my workmates. Thankyou, I really appreciated it.

July 6th, 7th I'm lucky my hometown is such a cultural city. It has a lot of culture related events. Like today, i was casualy scrolling my instagram and found an event, an opening of Kotabaru Heritage Festival, there would be a dance and orchestra performance and later, walking tour and photography exhibition. All was free, of course I won't miss it. That part of the city is realy familiar to me, my junior and senior high school located there. It's fun to know more abot its history.

July 8th First out of town trip. The closest one, 2 hours distance. It's only me and my long time close friend. First, we wanted to go by train, but then she offered to drive. That's a better idea, better moblity and these day the trains were so packed.

We don't really had a plan. We had the list but we went anywhereour moods lead. First stop, to fill our stomach we visit cute small coffeshop. The coffee was good, my friend said. I am not a coffee person, i ordered matchalatte and it was decent. The croissant was tasty also, I'm not a fan of croissant but I really like that coffeshop has.

Then we walked for little bit to Pura Mangkunegaran Palace. That palace is still functioning as residential house. My imagination flew away imagining how it was living as a nobleman, having the freaking huge house. The tour must be conducted wit a guide, and the guide war realy helpfull and informative. But they missed informing the history how this palace or kingdom (?) was form, and what's the difference between it and the other palace that Surakarta has. We looked up for that information while having dessert at the oldest ice cream shop in town. It's very famous, full of people. I wonder were they all tourist or there were some locals. Its nostalgic taste but not really special.

After the coffee, light meal, and dessert, we then heading to another famed food stall. We oredered take away so we won't coming back home empty handed. We had our late lunch almost dinner at small cute ocal steak. everything here is cute and small. The place were decorated with a lot of vintage items, a little bit random, here and there, but still cute. The food were great too. Not a fancy kind a steak, i think it was fried. But really tasty.

July 10th Asian Badminton Junior Championship. If there's a Badminton event held in town, of corse i should watch it. Young athletes working hard for dream, how can my heart not moved

July 16th After a long time, i join the weekend jogja walking tour again. I registered myself a lot, but then in the morning, i was overslept. Since my sister was home, I finally came to the tour. It's a tour of chinatown area of the city. Not much left but the story and history stayed to be told. We wanted to try the old bakery there but it hadn't open yet even after the tour ended, we had lunch and came back.

July 19th

Because of Greta Gerwig, i'm being #teambarbie haha. Second cinema this month. This time I have friend acompany me. As expected of Greta, it doesn't have to be explained. I really like it, the jokes hit me right. A lot of underlying meaning, a ittle bit too much i would say.

July 25th-28th

The very exhausting and worrying, make me nervous trip finally came. It's 4 days business trip to Bali, with car. I get dizzy easily so i'm afraid i would get motion sicknesss. Thanks god it didn't happen. actually I don't really remember how it went wkwkwkk. All I remember was I really tired and that I promise myself I woud comeback to bali and had enjoyable trip, my kinda style trip.

July 30th

This the highlight of the month. RADWIMPS CONCERT!!. I had been manifesting for about four years. Still tired from the Bali trip, i wasn't really excited at first. And also I came alone, so i'm a bit worry. I traveled solo quite often,but never to attend a concert. I literally just arrived, entering concert, jumping and singing and walking back to the inn quickly. Watching concert alone not bad, but being with friends is more fun. Inside the hall it was like magic. Wow i was reallyyyy happy.

July end. What a month. Somehow it felt restless. and I'm writting this post in a university library where i should doing my thesis. My biggest homework in life for now. Soon my post will full of library picture, me working hard on this reasearch. And by the end of the year, post about thesis defense presentation. Aameen :"))

ateez ancient china!au - part 1

yesterday in bed i had a sudden thought of what if ateez was in an ancient china! au, so here we go hahaha. i hope you enjoy!

hongjoong:

the head tailor of the palace, makes clothes specifically for the royal family

was born in a middle class family as an only child, which was rare in ancient china

so there was a lot of pressure on him to do well

he was interested in clothing despite his father claiming it’s “only a woman’s job”

frustrated and ambitious — he wanted to prove his father wrong

so he made a name for himself at a very young age

that day, he spotted yeosang (who was disguised as a middle class man) shopping with his tailor

the salesman and his tailor seemed to know each other very well, referring to each other as xiongdi (brothers)

they were pushy, trying to convince yeosang to buy a yard of a golden silky fabric

curious about the commotion, hongjoong walked next to yeosang and touched it, only to realise it wasn’t real silk! (dun dun dunnn)

obviously the tailor and the salesman were trying to scam yeosang

joong was livid and exposed the both of them in the middle of the bustling market

yeosang was beyond impressed and asked for his name, and so that was how he was hired

ever since entering the palace, he’s low-key judgemental of everyone’s clothes

(especially the two faced scholars and eunuchs who try to harm the princes)

eventually he cut ties with his father but still sends money and hand sewn clothing for special events to his mother

closest with seonghwa in the palace because they’re the same age

secretly makes the best hanfu (clothing) for seonghwa

“because his proportions are immaculate” excuses

the first prince in line

was named by a prophet who said seonghwa had stars in his eyes

“the moment he opened his eyes”

have you seen him?

everyone feels like their heart is going to burst when they see him on a chariot

his gaze is hypnotising

but that’s actually him trying to look stern

because he’s so nervous in front of the crowd

behind the doors, without any eyes on him

he’s a soft baby that all the servants openly adore

everyone secretly wants to hit on him

but is too afraid too because of his younger brothers even though he’s b a b y

(seonghwa is godsend compared to the other princes)

knows how to play guiqin (a traditional chinese string instrument)

usually plays it at night alone near water with lily pads

loves hongjoong with all his heart

(probably had a tiny crush on him the first day he met him)

loves strawberries

and anything strawberry flavoured

when the strawberry season arrives the palace kitchen is filled with:

boxes and boxes of fresh strawberries

he manages to finish them in a few days!

he definitely seems to me another fellow mantou lover and basically all types of bread from dimsum

mantou is a type of chinese white bread with no filling in a shape of a round shape and it’s super fluffy, usually dipped in condensed milk

needs to eat a mantou every morning to get his day started

(he gets bribed every other day by yunho because he can’t resist mantou that has just been out of the oven...!)

a mischevious son from a wealthy merchant’s family

despite being born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he has a big heart

loves watching performances of every kind! he watched a dragon dance performance and begged his father to find an instructor

his father was reluctant as performers were looked down upon in the ancient times

however, the teacher who took him in said yunho had a natural talent in performing

that’s how he became one of the palace’s performers

despite his living quarters in the palace being less lavish than the two roomed bedroom back at home with his parents

he’s truly chasing his dreams

and it’s completely safe to say he’s content

one night he overheard seonghwa playing the guiqin and he danced gracefully along it

only for seonghwa to find out

and that’s how they got to know each other

and how yunho found out seonghwa’s weakness is mantou

deep inside, seonghwa’s willing to help yunho because he trusts him

the prince covers for him when he wants to slip out into the capital for a breath of air

every once in a while he peaks at his old home to check on his parents

because he knows secretly they’re worried for him, afraid he’ll get hurt because they’ve heard stories of people fracturing their bones in the middle of practice

but at the same time they know his son has grown up and they have to trust him

so he keeps his distance in fear he will drop everything and run back home because chasing his dreams get tiring too

the second prince in line

always ties his hair up into a ponytail with strands of hair left untied to frame his face

he wears soft pastel coloured hanfu most of the time with patterns of lotus flowers

(“a symbol of innocence!” hongjoong exclaims from his room)

and somehow he never gets his sleeves stained while eating

(prince yeosang please drop your life hacks now)

he’s very smart, definitely the model student

has really neat and nice handwriting, all the eunuchs are enthralled because seonghwa’s handwriting low-key traumatised them

had a lot of pressure on him to do well academically to “support his brother when he becomes the king”

there were rumours going around about how yeosang secretly wants to overthrow seonghwa when he gets crowned as the king

luckily, he never wanted to be king anyway

he’s a man with little words, but every so often you’ll see his composure crack when an official embarrassed themselves

a tiny smile will be on his lips but it’ll disappear as quickly as it came

when someone oversteps the line in meetings, he won’t hesitate to expose all their dirty secrets

he’ll embarrass them so bad they’ll kneel and swear they’ll never offend him again

so people avoid offending seonghwa too because yeosang is hella scary when he’s mad

but behind close doors though, he’s a completely different person

with close friends like wooyoung and hongjoong though, he’s humorous and likes to share weird facts he found out recently

“did you know that beluga whales have flexible necks, like this?” he demonstrates, making a weird face

no one believes wooyoung’s words when he says yeosang is funny though

brutally honest to protect the ones he love

but when he doesn’t open his mouth everyone assumes he’s the nicer prince

oh, they are so wrong

every time a princess from another region confesses her love to yeosang, she leaves crying because of how bluntly he rejected her
