I made this dragonfly from 14K gold-filled wire with sparkling Ethiopian Opal eyes and a sheer shimmery Ethiopian opal for the body. It hangs from a delicate figaro gold filled chain. This piece is life size or a little larger. It makes a great statement piece without the weight, so it's comfortable to wear all day. I made this dragonfly pendant by weaving fine gold filled wire around a frame I shaped from thicker wire. I used a tight weave to create a solid body. To imitate imitate the lacy texture of dragonfly wings I hammered the wire frame for some extra sparkle around the edges then used an open net weave to make it look ready to fly away.

This dragonfly pendant is created on two 24-gauge copper sheets. The bottom layer is painted with my mix of yellow-orange enamel. Top layer is hand sawed in an oval shape to reveal the colored bottom layer. Top and bottom copper is riveted together and fired in a kiln. Now the dragonfly shape is hand sawed, and the veins in the wings are engraved using a hand-held rotary instrument.
