it's well known that Kazuki Takahashi created the protagonist designs for DM, GX and 5DS, but he also worked on a significant portion of Zexal's cast, designing Yuma, Astral, Zexal I, Shark, Kaito, Kotori, Faker, Haruto, Anna, Cathy, as well as Hope Utopia and Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. (He also appeared to design a very different early version of "Mizael" but more on that in another post)
Some of these sketches were seen before Zexal started airing in Japan, while others were revealed in Kazuki Takahashi's artbook "Duel Art"

ZEXAL DVD set 6
Another DVD set. This one doesn't have to much for references, just Barian Faker and monster designs.

villains, time to take a chance...
It's time for the ZEXAL Main Villains Poll. Now, considering the, hmm, let's call it shenanigans, involved with Don Thousand and the Barians, in terms of mind fuckery and stuff, I decided to let y'all decide anyway which you like best on a previous (now deleted) post.

For everyone starting Zexal, please use this guide. I’m sure you’ll find someone to relate to.
For one, I wish I could be Anna (Gunpowder perfume girl), but in truth, I am Tron (Color codes people according to their flavor yum yum)

Here are some of my zexal mom headcanons!
Kaito and Haruto’s mother
- A scientist/engineer, she specialized in studying human and machine interactions.
- She helped design and build Heartland.
- Tenjo was her last name which she insisted on keeping because she was published in so many scientific journals.
- She passed away from complications giving birth to Haruto.
- Both Faker and Kaito are haunted by how much Haruto looks like her.
Byron’s First Wife/Christopher’s mother
- A successful painter, her career began to take off a couple years after Chris was born.
- She spent a lot of time traveling as her work became more successful and enjoyed meeting more wealthy and famous artists and art enthusiasts around the world.
- Eventually she decided to leave to be able to spend more time promoting her work.
- Later fell in love with someone else, but never had any more children. She doesn’t like reminders of her previous life and rarely contacts Chris.
- When Byron disappeared she did technically gain custody of her son, which is why he didn’t go to the orphanage with his half brothers. She allowed him to remain in Heartland though.
Byron’s Second Wife/Thomas and Michael’s mother
- Originally a librarian, but quit her job when she had Thomas.
- Was very involved raising all three children and was responsible for most of their schooling.
- Passed away unexpectedly from illness when Michael was 5, Thomas was 7.
- Losing her broke Byron’s heart. He gave up on dating after her passing, and got more involved in his work. Eventually he met Faker and they bonded over losing their wives young.

palm tree ⇢ do you have a fictional villain you shouldn’t like but love regardless?
Uuuuuh, if it's YGO, it's probably going to be Faker. It's not like I shouldn't like him, but nobody else seems to be particular about him. He's got one fan. (It's me!) Otherwise, maybe Rex Goodwin—despite his actions, he did a lot of things out of love I think, manga and anime. (But I'm a bit fuzzy about canon, so headcanons are heavy here.)
As a general thing, though, my favorite villian is probably General Armitage Hux from the Star Wars franchise. I saw him once and went, "Th-That one, I like that one." He's a terrible, terrible person, and there's nothing I want more than for him than to suffer immensely. He deserves it. 💖💖💖
