What she means: The reason Dr. Doofenshmirtz smothers Vanessa is because he understands what it’s like to be given no attention or praise as a kid despite constantly wanting to impress them, and despite his achievements. He wore dresses his mother sewed to school for years, became a garden gnome for his family, even tried to win his mother’s love by learning a whole new sport, and while he was doing that built a variety of different scientific instruments far beyond any of his family’s understanding including a FUCKING ORGANIC FUSION MACHINE. His family basically disowned him after failing to complete ONE THING, jumping off the high dive, treating Rodger and Onlyson as their prize-winning perfect kin.
