I can't play Fallout 4 and hear Doctor Carrington without thinking about Quan Chi.
Kinda like how I can only ever hear Zeffeero in Knight Rhys now (it used to be Khalil from BO3. But now it's solidly Rain)
Or how now I only hear Reiko now whenever I hear Maxson.

~How to Significantly Worsen the Railroad in Fallout 4~
Move the Railroad's secret base to a sub-basement under the mile-wide labyrinth next to the long, Feral Ghoul-infested train station beneath the Old North Church. It now takes four loading screens to get from the overworld to the headquarters.
Glory and Desdemona are a couple! However, just one main quest after they confess their feelings to each other, the Brotherhood of Steel kill them both. Dr Carrington becomes the Railroad's new leader.
Before each of the Railroad's main storyline quests, you have to finish about five radiant quests. And if you do about a hundred radiant quests, you'll get access to a safe full of random respawning valuables!
Some of these radiant quests have you escorting a fugitive all the way across the map, while being pursued by Institute forces who spawn randomly in groups of four or five. The fugitive will quite cheerfully attempt to fend them off with a stick or a pipe pistol. If a Courser so much as touches them, they'll be teleported back to the Institute, and Desdemona (or Dr Carrington) will spank you in front of all your comrades for letting her down.
Other of these radiant quests have you establishing safehouses, with room and board for at least twenty escaped Synths, in randomly-chosen settlements. Each safehouse has to be disguised as another building, such as a launderette, a coffee shop or a fire station, which means you have to paint the walls JUST so and scatter JUST the right sorts of clutter around before you can hand in the quest.
The Railroad give the player a Synth - yes, GIVE the player a Synth, but this particular Synth, so we're told, is perfectly happy to have a human owner. She just doesn't feel right, you see, unless she has a master to serve and protect with her blade. Her lovely blue and golden armoured dress can be worn under armguards and a breastplate, but none of them really go with it.
She also dies while protecting the player from a Courser, one they could probably have defeated with ease by then.

How do you think the companions would react to the sole survivor being psychic?
Part 1!
Cait:
•As cool as she might honestly think it is, she’s very distrusting. Gets the sensation of being intruded upon because she just assumes you want to get into her mind or always be one step ahead.
•Just..give her some time.
Curie:
•Refuses to even believe it. She firmly believes you must’ve hit your head or perhaps the stress of being..you..has simply gotten to be too much. If it’s any consolation, she shows nothing but pure concern throughout it all. The only way you can convince her otherwise is if you manage to show her proof that cannot be chalked up logically to a coincidence.
Danse:
•Very, very skeptical. Takes a bit of convincing but not nearly as much as Curie for that matter. Urges you to keep your ability to yourself and often times admonishes you to avoid using it all together..however if you are the kind that can communicate to the other side, he may in a moment of weakness ask you to relay a couple messages. After the events of BB, his attitude towards your abilities loosen up a bit but he still prefers you going off instincts, not what you “see”.
Deacon:
• Once he without a doubt knows it’s true and you aren’t just messing with him, he is excited and scared all in one interesting mix. Is definitely the kind of person to ask annoying things like “what is Dr. Carrington about to do?” Every five seconds and so on.
Gage:
•Really thinks you’re pulling his leg and is not very appreciative. It’ll take a hell of a lot of convincing but once you manage it, Gage is actually kind of freaked out. Of course, he hides that and instead urges you to use your gift to further your standing in nuka world.

more random deacon headcanons <33
i have mentioned this b4 but with tumblr im like a frog who pops out of the dirt for worms once in a very long while and then burrows until the next worm
so i apologize
anyways ! deacon headcanons
- deacon leaves little sticky notes in random places for people to read, especially on dr. carrington's stuff (which pisses him off GREATLY)
- on the topic of pissing off dr. carrington, they LOVE to hide his stuff in the most random possible places for the sole purpose of seeing him get frustrated
- he's really good at puzzles. give him a puzzle if you need to distract him for a while
- his music taste is a mixture of pop and indie pop, with a bit of really bad 2000's emo
- deacon is the worst cook. they have burnt water before and probably will again
- they're a major insomniac. they usually run on about an hour of sleep, but somehow, they still function perfectly fine
- when you're in a relationship with him, he likes to put on lipstick and kiss your face to leave marks. he loves watching you struggle to find an explanation when desdemona asks why you're covered in red lipstick.
- they don't like to talk about it much, but they're a former alcoholic. they're about three years sober. he only really started caring about getting sober when he was almost killed while drunk on a job. that knocked some sense into him quick
- deacon's hard of hearing in his left ear, and is a little insecure about it. that doesn't mean they don't take every opportunity to make a joke out of it by yelling "WHAT? HUH? CAN'T HEAR YOU" whenever you're on their left side. (this one is so self indulgent)
- he takes the bugs outside. no comment
- eats tatos whole. like. just takes bites out of them like it's nothing. he doesn't even do it to fuck with people. he just likes them
- they get sunburnt really easily. they tried really hard to convince people it's because they're a vampire, but it didn't go over so well
have fun w/ these:)

I was tagged by @waitmyturtles so here's my Thai QL Favorites Tag Game answers! Brief because arghh, not able to spend lots of time on anything bloody fun at the moment.
Favorite Thai BL: I love so many but it just has to be Until We Meet Again. For all its flaws (Pharm's blushing maiden, New's pedestrian direction etc) it's a masterpiece of storytelling and a perfect cast. And it still makes me ugly cry when I rewatch it. Bad Buddy comes a close second though
Tumblr media
Current Obsession: I'm too swamped to have a current obsession. I'm so behind I haven't even watched The Eight Sense yet. I had to pause Be My Favourite after ep 2. I can't start anything new so currently only rewatch favourite bits of already consumed media. Sob.
Favorite Pairing: I'm wavering between PatPran and DeanPharm. And AePete...
Most Underrated Actor: There are a couple of actors that I'd just like to see in more things because whenever they appear they elevate the whole drama. Tonnam Piamchon is a proper scene stealer and I'd love to see him lead something out. I'm surprised there hasn't been a proper lead for First (not that one) Piyankul as well.
Favorite Character: Pat. He may be an eejit but once he realises how he feels he's all in, forever. I love that man.
Tumblr media
Favorite Side Character: Can I have Toh's entire friendship group from Secret Crush On You? I love all of them.
Favorite Scene in a BL: I won't pick one and you can't make me. Some I love because they're fabulous, some because they are so bad they're good, others make my heart clench. A few of my many highlights include; In and Korn so happy on the beach in UWMA, the rooftop kiss in BB, Daisy and In's noodle flirtation in SCOY, White and Sean at Pride in Not Me, the airport scene in ATOTS, and as a gloriously over-the-top bit of pulpy goodness, Kim descending the stairs in his best Alexis Carrington imitation to confront Cherry in Unforgotten Night. Then there's this one:
Tumblr media
Favorite Line in a BL: "In this world, you can be afraid of anything. I will always be beside you, but you cannot be afraid of me" Win to Team in UWMA
Most Anticipated BL (& Why): เขมจิราต้องรอด Cherry Magic with TayNew OF COURSE. I think we all know why. Middleman's Love because TutorYim - aww. And Only Friends because Jojo's got free rein and a fabulous cast.
Healthiest relationship in a BL: PatPran, Li Ming and Heart, despite their youth. and ultimately DeanPharm.
Most Toxic Relationship in a BL: Lots of people are going to have TharnType in this spot. I suspect these people have forgotten Dr Bright and Farm from Together With Me, or Techno and Kengkla from LBC and LBC2. Tharn and Type are pure as the driven snow in comparison.
Guilty Pleasure Series: Love Mechanics - look I just love my spiky boy Mark and my hopeless boy Vee and their messy, messy relationship.
Tumblr media
I won't tag anyone - do it if you fancy!

Desdemona: (To the rest of the Railroad members) “Don’t worry- we’ve got our best men on this covert operation. Rest assured, I am confident they will pull this off without a hitch.”
Dr Carrington: (Under his breath in the background) “We are doomed…”
[Somehwere in the Commonwealth]
Bouncer: (Guarding a door) “And what are you twos names?”
Deacon: (Deadpan) “The name is Benedict Dover. But everyone just calls me Ben for short.”
Jasmine: (Internally screaming as she gives a polite smile) “Oh my fucking god- he’s gonna blow it.”
Deacon: (Puts an arm around the teen girl) “And this is my sweet and gentle daughter that I am so proud of raising all on my own. Her name is pronounced Shy-theed.”
Person: (Steps aside to open the door and lead them inside) “Alright Mr Ben Dover and Shithead Dover, welcome to the club. Please follow me.”
Deacon: (Looks to Jas with a shit-eating grin)
Jasmine: (Murderous glare) “I am going to kill you later!”

Falloutober 2023 - Day 1
'War Never Changes'
@falloutober
Word Count - 713
With a single push of a button the Institute was gone. People had seen science as evil technology unchecked, as the source of all ills, all misfortunes. It was easy to understand why. The institute acted without reason, tore communities apart for fear of being challenged. Created killing machines out of people. They saw science as the last hope for themselves, and no one else. The Instutie refused to see and face their history and that was their greatest failure. Maybe those who survived the explotion will seek out their past, learn what science for personal prosperity had done to the world.
The destruction of the Prydwen, the Brotherhood of Steel’s greatest creation, was a necessary sacrifice. The Elder had survived. He and what remained of the Brotherhood scampered back to the Capital Wasteland. They wouldn’t leave forever, but the Commonwealth would be prepared when they returned. While the Institute didn’t see the history of destruction they were fated to repeat through creation, the Brotherhood ignored the flaws in their beliefs and refused to see the hope in new technology and suffered for their hubris. To blinded by the rigidity of their symbol to see how the world was changing and rebuilding.
In the confusion and rubble of the institutes destruction, the knewly rebuilt Minutemen offered aid and protection to settlers across the Commonwealth. Their aid was steadily accepted and Minutemen, under the leadership of General Preston Garvey, became a common site across the Commonwealth. With a military station at the castle and trade hubs to the north in Sunshine Tiding and the old Drive in Cinema, the Minutemen began to be seen as an honourable group once again. An old world history brought into the present with hope for the future.
The Railroad continued to operate in secret, helping the last of the synths become part of the world. When the last of the known synth survivors had their lives rewritten, the Railroad disbanded. Many of the tourists returned to their lives, the agents that were left continued to monitor the synths they had helped, safehouses continued to operate for anyone who had helped the Railroad.
Dr Carrington found himself as the leading medic for the Minutemen in the Castle. Though he believed their goals were bigger than their capability, he commended them for all they had achieved so far.
Tinker Tom joined Sturges in Sanctuary, though his ideas were more outlandish than Sturges was used to, the two got along well and the MiLA’s became a useful surveillance system for rouge synths, and threats to the people of the Commonwealth.
PAM was eventually moved to the Castle, despite Ronnie Shaw’s protest, and became an invaluable if not slightly disconcerting member of the organisation.
Drummer Boy continued to operate the dropbox’s for the safehouses and agents that monitored the synths. He became an invaluable messenger to the Sole Survivor.
Desdemona dissapeared into the wasteland. Occational a message would arrive for the Sole Survivor with tips on rouge synths and coursers, all marked with a D. It became the only inclination that she was still alive somewhere in the wasteland, hiding among the shadows as she had done for years.
I’ve known nothing but war my whole life. I fought for the people I cared about, made mistakes I can never forgive myself for. War may never change, but I’ve seen people change. For better or worse, people are always capable of change.
There was always something to fight for, a symbol to side with. It’s not hard to fight, to offer your life for a cause you believe in. But to let go, give up the anger and fire for something calmer, that is the real challenge of life. Finding a loving family and something to live for is difficult, but not impossible. Throughout my travels I have shown mercy and relentlessness. Kindness and ruthlessness. Love and hatred. I’ve cheated death, and face the consiquences of my actions whenever I look in a mirror. I have survived but never lived.
Now I have a chance to live. People who love me and whom I love back. A real Family.
As an old friend said,
‘War Never Changes, men do, through the roads they walk.’
I think I finally found my road’s end.

Strange New Worlds tie-ins to Deep Space Nine in order (so far):
In “Tears of The Prophets”, Benjamin Sisko receives the Christopher Pike Medal of Valor for defending DS9 when it was under siege by Dominion forces.
On Pike’s personnel file in the Star Trek Discovery episode “Brother” Pike has the Carrington Award on his list of Starfleet commendations. An award Bashir was the youngest nominee for but did not win in “Prophet Motive”.
The author of the children’s book Dr. M’Benga is reading Rukiya in “Ghosts of Illyria” and “The Elysian Kingdom” which shares the book’s title is by sci-fi/fantasy novelist Benny Russel. An ancestor of Benjamin Sisko whom the Prophets gave Sisko a first hand glimpse into the life of in “Far Beyond the Stars”.
Rukiya gives up her ailing body and joins with “Debra” (her mother’s name, not entirely unlike how a Prophet was Ben Sisko’s mother). Debra is an entity whom does not fully understand corporeal reality or linear time. Rukiya stops experiencing time linearly and returns to her father as an adult to comfort him and reassure him he made the right choice, telling him that she’s certain they’ll see eachother again.
General cinematic/personality parallels between Pike and Sisko: Highly decorated fighting captains, paternal figures who love to cook, with fates that are as much pre-written as they are sealed by their conscious choices.
A tweet on July 23rd, 2022 by Eric Goldman, and I quote: “Asked if we could catch up with the DS9 characters (beyond the Lower Decks episode). Alex Kurtzman says ‘Sisko’s a critical, critical character for everybody. Conversations have definitely been had.’ #StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds #SDCC”
All I’m saying is, a SNW & DS9 crossover is basically confirmed at this point right?!

Some of the cast from The Thing From Another World (1951). This shot was used for posters and lobby cards for the film.
Actor Robert Cornthwaite, who played Dr. Carrington (on the left, the bearded fellow holding the flashlight) was arguably the best character out of a film filled with nothing but great characters. TIL he was in his early 30s when he made this film; that's a fantastic make-up job.
Also TIL the tall fellow in the back on the right is John Dierkes. He was a former FBI agent who originally went to Hollywood as a technical advisor. He got the acting bug and quit the Bureau.
What I already knew: the gentleman holding the carbine that obscures most of his face is Paul Frees. Even if you could see his face you might not recognize him, but you would as soon as you heard his voice. Frees worked for decades as a voice actor for radio, animation, and dubbing foreign films. Some of his credits include Boris Badenov from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, Ben Grimm/The Thing from Hanna-Barbera's Fantastic Four cartoon (his is the voice I hear in my head when I read Ben Grimm in the comics, especially when he says "It's Clobberin' Time!"), Burgermeister Meisterburger from the perennial holiday special Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, and the French radio reporter from the American dub of Destroy All Monsters who describes Baragon (really Gorosaurus) destroying the Arc de triomphe.
As for the other guys in the photo: I'll do a separate post soon on Kenneth Tobey (from, with the axe) and Dewey Martin (the airman with the handgun) and their involvement in the film.
As for the blonde guy in the back with the pickaxe, I got no idea. I think he's a stand-in for James Young, who played Tobey's co-pilot Eddie Dykes. Please lemme know if anyone has any info.
