Doraemon Vol. 17 from The Complete Works of Fujiko F. Fujio

The stories here were published in 1986–1994 and include the last short-form Doraemon manga stories ever released. (We're not done with the Complete Works series yet though.) Some of the most iconic ones from this volume (as determined by my personal experience and biases):

"恐怖のディナーショー" ("Terrifying Dinner Show", 1989): Gian tasks Nobita with distributing tickets to his dinner and a show, but the prospect of Gian's singing combined with his cooking is so horrifying that everyone makes up excuses to avoid coming.

"ドラえもんが重病に?" ("Is Doraemon Seriously Ill?", 1989): Doraemon refuses to return to the 22nd Century for a health checkup, not wanting to leave Nobita alone, but then starts malfunctioning badly.

"宇宙戦艦のび太を襲う" ("Space Battleship Attack on Nobita", 1990): Doraemon gives Precognitive Dream Candy to Nobita, who ends up dreaming of an alien invasion. Nobita and Doraemon attempt to warn everyone, but aren't taken seriously.

"ネコののび太いりませんか" ("Would Anyone Want a Nobita Cat?", 1990): To try and convince his mom to keep an abandoned cat, Nobita turns himself into the cat using the Animal Reincarnation Egg, hoping to show her how helpful a pet cat can be.

"ハワイがやってくる" ("Hawaii is Coming", 1990): Nobita is envious that everyone but him has gone on interesting family trips over summer vacation, so Doraemon takes him on a trip to Hawaii by using the Time-compression Gun to speed up plate tectonics, moving the Hawaiian Islands close enough to be reachable from Japan by rowboat.

"ガラパ星からきた男" ("The Man from Planet Galapa", 1994): Nobita doesn't have enough money to buy the latest popular video game, so he time travels one month into the future to get some from his future allowance. However, he discovers that the town has somehow been taken over by ant people. This is the only "intermediate-length" Doraemon manga story, being shorter than the Doraemon Long Stories that the movies were based on, but still having originally been published over the course of several months.

The first Dragon Ball episode I saw was that ep where Goku is a little boy traveling with Bulma they meet Roshi (creepy creepy Roshi) who has one of the dragon balls. I'm telling you, it blew my little teenager mind (nottoshowmyage). It was the times we (as in Latin America) had this thing we called Perubólica (okay, I say we but it was my cousin's perubolica), the predecessor of modern cable, and we got some Perú TV channels that presented LOTS of anime. I think that Dragon Ball episode was my first modern anime episode; at that point, I've watched Candy Candy, Doraemon, a Tom Sawyer anime adaptation, Heidi, that Grimm Brothers anime; but NEVER something like Dragon Ball. I wrote a letter (serouslynottoshowmyage) about this episode to my friend and we talk about it FOR WEEKS.

I dare to think that that sole episode was the thing that convinced me about my career (some mistakes in the way but hey) and that I really really really loved to draw.

The impact Dragon Ball had in Latin America is HUGE, I watched it every day after school (I recorded in my vhs reallyserouslynottoshowmyage) and, yeah, I fast forwarded almost all of Frieza, whatever, but I still loved it. And then they brought us Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2, Sakura Card Captor, Pokemon, Neon Genesis Evangelion (oh, they showed this one at 1 pm 'till they realized their mistake, move it to midnight, declared all anime was satanic and vetoed anime on public tv for years <- it's fun to live in a catholic country).

Thanks, mr. Toriyama for everything; I have to words to describe the huge impact you had in my life.

Cuales son los diferentes géneros de anime y cómo se identifican

Si aún estás al principio de tu viaje en el universo otaku, estos géneros te parecerán extraños o incluso ininteligibles porque... están en japonés. Por tales razones, hemos preparado una útil lista de géneros para ordenar tu anime preferido, ¡compruébalo tú mismo! Clasificación del anime Mucha gente considera que Shounen, Shoujo, Seinen y Josei son géneros de anime y manga, pero en realidad no lo son. Se trata de los nombres de las clasificaciones de público objetivo de los productores, o sea, los términos empleados para determinar si el anime es adecuado para un grupo de edad específico. Shounen Significa "niño" en traducción textual del nipón. Este género de anime se dirige a un público masculino joven (eminentemente adolescentes), de entre doce y dieciocho años. Se considera la clasificación más popular del anime y el manga. La historia del anime shounen acostumbra a centrarse en el desarrollo y el viaje del héroe, que acostumbra a ser masculino (si bien hay salvedades). Puede haber anime shounen de varios géneros y subgéneros (comedia, romance, etc.), pero el anime de acción es el más común, o el renombrado anime de lucha. En un caso así, también hay una presencia constante de estereotipos típicos del género, como los largos diálogos a lo largo de las batallas. Naruto, Dragon Ball, Caballeros del Zodiaco, Bleach y One Piece son algunos de los animes shounen más populares. Shoujo Significa "chavala" en su traducción más textual. El anime shoujo también atrae a los jóvenes, pero sobre todo a las mujeres. La trama de la serie suele tener a una chavala como protagonista y las historias se centran más en el drama, las historias de amor y otros sucesos que marcan el desarrollo de las mujeres. Al igual que el shounen, el shoujo también puede pertenecer a diferentes géneros, como el mahō shoujo, un subgénero que incluye personajes guerreros con poderes mágicos (Sailor Moon, por poner un ejemplo). Además de Sailor Moon, otros animes populares de este género son Sakura Card Raptor, Candy Candy y Ouran High School Host Club. Literalmente significa "niños" (en este caso, pequeños pequeños). Como su nombre indica, se trata de un anime dirigido a los niños, en especial a los de cuatro a 10 años. Los cuentos de Kodomo suelen educar lecciones esenciales a los niños más pequeños, como el respeto a los ancianos. Las tramas son sencillas y comprensibles. La relevancia de la amistad y la apreciación de los valores fraternales y familiares también son comunes en este género de anime. Hamtaro, Pokémon, Beyblade, Doraemon y Heidi son algunos de los títulos de anime más populares del género kodomo.
