Doraemon Vol. 12 from The Complete Works of Fujiko F. Fujio
Tumblr media
The stories here were published in 1979–1985. Once again I don't have many general comments to make, so I'll proceed with my selection of iconic stories from this volume (as determined by my personal experience and biases):
"おそるべき正義ロープ" ("The Formidable Justice Rope", 1980): To deal with Nobita's bullies, Doraemon releases the Justice Rope, which automatically wanders around town and punishes wrongdoers by tying them up. However, trouble arises when it turns out that the rope punishes all types of wrongdoing…
"ションボリ、ドラえもん" ("Dejected Doraemon", 1981): Seeing how much Doraemon has been struggling to look after Nobita, Nobita's great-great grandson Sewashi considers sending Dorami to take his place.
"時門で長~~い一日" ("A Looong Day with the Time Gate", 1981): To help Nobita finish his homework and still have enough time to visit Shizuka afterward, Doraemon slows down time with the Time Gate. As usual, Nobita isn't satisfied with just that and borrows the gadget for his own benefit, which causes all kinds of trouble. The most ridiculous of all is that an action TV show that Nobita is watching ends up having to continue airing the plot of subsequent episodes to fill up the extra time, to the point where the lead actor eventually gets hospitalized from overwork, which is absolutely not how a TV series like that would work, but is absolutely hilarious.
"天つき地蔵" ("Sky-tipping Jizō", 1982): To give Nobita a place to hide his failed exam papers, Doraemon brings out a seemingly bottomless waste disposal, but then falls in himself without his pocket. As he tries to find a way back, his exploits parallel the events in a folktale that Nobita happens to be reading.
"ホンワカキャップ" ("Happy Cap", 1983): Nobita envies adults for being able to drink away their sorrows, so Doraemon takes out a bottlecap that can make any beverage intoxicating.
"ジャイアン殺人事件" ("The Gian Murder Case", 1985): To everyone's surprise, the director of a music school seeks out Gian to record his infamously horrendous singing. Suneo suspects that the director intends to use it as an instrument of murder. (It's actually meant to represent the "before" in a "before and after" style commercial for the school.)

is there anything you don't like in Doraemon or think can be improved?
I think that there are some characters that really deserve more screen time. I mean, Dekisugi and Jaiko, we've known of their existence since 1980 (at most), but we barely know anything about them. I really want more content on these two, as well as Dorami and Sewashi.
I also think the time travel should be more clearly explained. In the main story, when Doraemon comes back to the 20th century, he changes the entire timeline. But, in the Peko and the Five Explorers movie, when the kids were travelling back in time, the timeline didn't change at all. They clearly remembered themselves going back in time, and they saw their future selves. It confused me, to be honest.

¿Is Doraemon a good first step into manga and series?
In my last post I said that I wasn't aware of manga and anime, it turns out that I was really into it, I just didn't know that the shows I liked in my childhood belonged to this genre.
When I was about 3 to 5 years old, I used to watch TV with my brother, since I was too young, my brother was the one who chose the channel. As expected, he always chose war and action shows. And so we both ended up watching Doraemon, Sailor Moon and The Knights of the Zodiac on Chilevisión. Also, thanks to my brother, I ended up loving Doraemon, Transformers and Pokemon (I'm not sure if the last two were on the same channel, though).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doraemon#/media/File:Doraemon_volume_1_cover.jpg
So, Doraemon (ドラえもん) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fujiko F. Fujio. The manga was first serialized in December 1969. And it was released in Chile from the year 2000 to 2004 through Chilevisión channel, and especially during the broadcast of the program "El Club de los Tigritos".
fun fact: Doraemon's magic number is 1293. Because he can run 129.3km/h when scared. He can jump 129.3cm too. He has maximum power of 129.3hp and his birthday is September 3, 2112 (12/9/3)..
¿Is Doraemon my recommendation for someone who doesn't really know or like manga? Yes, it is.
Unlike the other shows I mentioned (which are also suitable for children), Doraemon has no fighting, death or blood scenes (I don't think this is a bad thing, but it makes it even more family friendly).
Nobita is a ten-year-old Japanese school boy, who is kind-hearted and honest, but also lazy, unlucky, weak, gets bad grades and is bad at sports. One day, a robot cat from the 22nd century named Doraemon is sent back to the past by Nobita's future grandchild, Sewashi Nobi, to take care of Nobita so that his descendants can have a better life. Doraemon has a four-dimensional pouch in which he stores tools, inventions, and gadgets from the future to aid Nobita whenever he is faced with a problem. (Although Doraemon is a cat robot, he has a fear of mice because of an incident where robotic mice chewed off his ears. This is why Doraemon lost his original yellow color and turned blue, from sadness).
All this makes you identify with Nobita (except for the part of the magic cat), but what I remember most is his mother yelling at him for not leaving his shoes at the door, the funny fights with his friends, and his secret love for one of his friends.
In conclusion, I would encourage everyone to watch Doraemon because it is an accurate story, makes you empathize with the character and teaches you to always choose empathy, kindness and good acting. Also, the animation, music, and dialog make it a show you can't miss.

Gian and Suneo often bully Nobita, but are also shown as Nobita's friends in certain episodes, and especially in the movies. Nobita's closest friend and love interest is Shizuka Minamoto, who eventually becomes his wife in the future. Doraemon's gadgets help Nobita overcome the troubles, and they end up developing a relationship with each other. Doraemon has a four-dimensional pouch in which he stores unexpected gadgets he uses to aid Nobita. Most stories of Doraemon revolve the young Nobita Nobi, who receives poor grades and is frequently bullied by his two classmates, Takeshi Goda (nicknamed "Gian") and Suneo Honekawa (Gian's sidekick). At present, Nobita is a man who always fails in class, and whose company goes bankrupt, causing his family and sons to face financial difficulties. Speaking of Shizuka referring to her friends and those she respects with the honorific"-san", I always wondered why Doraemon refers to Nobita and Sewashi with the "-kun" honorific. Is it because he's a caretaker, and thus they sorta defer to him? Or is it out of endearment to those he's close to? I've seen him also refer to Suneo with the -kun honorific before in that one episode where Suneo manages to hypnotize Doraemon into being his best friend with that heart button and remote control button. Though, I think he also refers to some other characters as -kun like the usual companions to Nobita in the movies or even that one-off character Tame.
Yeahhh. That's a darn good point.
But honestly, I legitimately don't even have an answer for that aside from something I already told over here.

How can Nobita’s great-great grandson Sewashi still exist if Nobita marries Shizuka instead of Jaiko in the future? The Doraemon Fukayomi Guide (ドラえもん深読みガイド, 2006) proposes that Nobita’s son Nobisuke married one of Jaiko’s daughters and so Sewashi still inherited Jaiko’s genes as a result.

𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 (𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙗𝙤𝙭𝙙): IS DORAEMON ENDING THIS SUMMER?
In the suburbs of Tokyo some time ago, there lived a clumsy boy about 10 years old. There appeared in front of him named Sewashi, Nobita's descendant of four generations later from the 22nd century, and Doraemon, a 22nd century cat-type caretaker robot who helps people with its secret gadgets. Sewashi claims that his family is suffering from the debts Nobita made even to his generation, so in order to change this disastrous future, he brought along Doraemon as Nobita's caretaker to bring happiness to his future, although Doraemon is not happy about this. And so Sewashi installed an accomplishment program into Doraemon forcing him to take care of Nobita. Unless he makes Nobita happy, Doraemon can no longer go back to the 22nd century. This is how the life of Doraemon and Nobita begins. Will Doraemon succeed this mission and return to the 22nd century?
𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Fun, light, for kids and family. It's actually refreshing to watch this Doraemon film. It's a very short movie for me —didn't even notice the time! I love how they end the ending. Recommended if you have nothing to watch and bored. It will kinda lift your spirits!

Ok, I'm new to this blog (and The Doraemons in general) but is Doraine Stein a descendant of the Doraemons? Is Nora Sewashi's descendant? And if I can ask, when is set this story?
Doraine is a robot cat made from other robot cats, but not the Doraemons we know
Tumblr media
Nora is Noby's great 10x great granddaughter
This story takes place in the further future, staring Nora, Doraine, Gina, Sarah, and many more

Can someone tell me why does nobody talks about Doraemon? I mean yeah it's an old cartoon for kids but it's The Fairly OddParents level dark and NO ONE TALKS ABOUT IT?! Like there is this TEN YEARS OLD protagonist with signs of dyslexia (not being able to read or write properly, hating books but loving comics, always getting bad grades, being bad at catching or throwing things, etc.) AND depression (he takes a nap at any chance he gets and spends most of the day sleeping which is a BIG sign of depression) AND STILL NO ONE ON THE INTERNET GIVES A SHIT?! WAS IT NOT AS POPULAR IN AMERICA OR EUROPE? DID IT NOT EVEN AIR IN DISNEY? Doraemon is a Japanese manga/ cartoon series about a 10-year-old kid named Nobita. He is a "bad student". He always gets a zero in every lesson and hides the exams so his mom won't see it (do I even need to say this never works?). His grand-grand-grand-grand-grandson Sewashi (He is from 2112) sends Doraemon (a robot that looks like everything BUT a cat) back in time to help Nobita have a better future. Doraemon has an interdimensional pocket in each episode he pulls out a different gadget from the future to help Nobita (Which mostly leads out to bigger problems or doesn't help at all).
Introducing Every Character With 1 Sentence Go!
Nobita: A "lazy" student who fails at everything he tries. Doraemon: "Future gadgets can't solve all your problems!" he says as he hands over the future gadget that solves every problem. Sewashi: "You fucked up so bad we're still trying to pay your debts 100 years later" Shizuka: The love interest. Gian: "Tell me your honest opinion" = I'mma kill you if you have a bad opinion. Jaiko: Gian's sister. Suneo: The rich kid. Dekisugi: The golden child the show only brings up to compare to Nobita. Dorami: The spare Doraemon. Tamako: Nobita's mom( a.k.a.: YOU GOT A 0?! AGAIN?!) Nobisuke: Nobita's dad Mr. S: The teacher. Anyway I was planning to talk about how messed up the show is but Then I got curious and looked up how many episodes it had, I found out that it started off as a manga. I made a little reshaerch and learned that 16 days ago (5 March 2021) it was the 51st anniversary of the manga's start. AND THEN I FOUND OUT IT WAS STILL GOING ON! There is a total of 200 volumes of the manga right now. (I may be wrong 'cause the google reaserch was a mess) So this big mess has; 200 volumes of manga, about 2000 episodes and 54 movies! The first manga's release year: 1969 The first episode's release year: 1979 The first movie release year: 1980 (Nobita's dinosaur) I'm not sure if they ended or not. Everything I said might be wrong, I don't know what's going on every article and Wikipedia page says something else. I SPEND 3 HOURS SEARCHING ABOUT THIS MESS AND I STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON I'm gonna try and rewatch it asap.
