The most destructive weapon Doraemon has pulled out in the manga is probably the “Earth Destruction Bomb” (地球はかいばくだん). But the Doraemon Fukayomi Guide (ドラえもん深読みガイド, 2006) asks if this might just be a brand name, because it’s incredible that a doomsday weapon would be available for personal use.

In the anime, Doraemon has also pulled out the “Galaxy Destruction Bomb” (銀河はかいばくだん).

The only times Doraemon has tried to use these weapons is out of fear of mice or jealousy of romantic rivals (恋するドラえもん, 1982 manga story).

Works That Mention Birds Being Dinosaurs Where You Wouldn’t Expect It to Come Up
Feel free to reblog with any examples that you know of!
Note that my own selection follows these two requirements:
The work must explicitly use the wording that “birds are dinosaurs” (or an approximate equivalent), not only that “birds are descended from dinosaurs” or similar.
The work is not primarily intended to teach or reference topics in the natural sciences. xkcd and Dinosaur Train are great, but they don’t qualify under this requirement. (More general educational works that don’t specialize in science might count, however.)
Anansi Boys (2005) by Neil Gaiman:
“Birds,” Spider said, “are the last of the dinosaurs. Tiny velociraptors with wings. Devouring defenseless wiggly things and, and nuts, and fish, and, and other birds. They get the early worms. And have you ever watched a chicken eat? They may look innocent, but birds are, well, they’re vicious.”
The Order of the Stick, “Bird Brained” (2011):
Tumblr media
Sesame Street, “When Dinosaurs Walked Sesame Street” (2016):
Tumblr media
Doraemon, “雪と恐竜” (2017):
(I haven’t found English subtitles for this episode, so you’ll have to take my word for it.)

My Recommendations For Doraemon Episodes (2005 Anime Edition)
if u know me u know i'm far from being the biggest fan of the 2005 doraemon anime. howeverrrr i don't hate it either cuz i'm a fan, so here's my fav episodes from the series!
p.s. one of my old posts contains many episodes from the new anime, so they won't be listed here bc i don't wanna be repetitive, not bc i don't like them enough!
☆ The Horrors Of Gian's Birthday (2007)
Tumblr media
this episode is a birthday special as u can tell from the title and it's also about 20 minutes long, orrrr if we're being precise, it's made of two 10-minutes-long episodes. at the beginning it pisses me off cuz nobita and shizuka initially forget gian's b-day and once suneo reminds them, all 3 of them and doraemon do the most to avoid attending his party. gian isn't the best person on the show and he's full of flaws but having fake friends is horrible...
「恐怖のジャイアン誕生日」 #91
☆ Nobita's Survival Trip (2010)
Tumblr media
this episode is longer than usual, about 20 minutes long and it's about a school trip who suddenly turns into a nightmare for doraemon (don't ask me why he was at a school trip just watch the episode) and the 5 kids (yes, dekisugi was with them, too).
「のび太の遠足サバイバル」  #207
☆ Swapping Bodies With Everyone (2010)
Tumblr media
nobita needs to finish his homework faster, doraemon wants longer legs, suneo wants his arms and hands to be ladylike, gian wants to know what it's like to be skinny. so they respectively switch head, legs, arms and torso with shizuka. she rightfully gets her body parts back in the end, but i wish doraemon did something about suneo's arms, he seemed truly unhappy with 'em. 💀
「みんなで体をとりかえっこ」 #221
☆ The Indiscriminate Fad-Causing Virus (2014)
Tumblr media
the episode starts with suneo and a model (or a woman who works in the fashion industry) talking about current fashion trends and then suneo starts laughing at nobita for not knowing shit on the subject. obviously, nobita initially claims he doesn't give a fuck and a couple minutes later he's crying to doraemon cuz he wants to copy suneo's hobbies, and he obviously needs some gadget to do so cuz he's not good at the things suneo does. 🥱
p.s. suneo and his mom are so cunty, no other family duo is seeing them, ever!
「流行性ネコシャクシウイルス」 #371
☆ Muscular Body Clays (2014)
Tumblr media
this is another funny but cursed episode where they change their body parts: nobita, doraemon and gian get muscular, shizuka asks for a longer nose and suneo wants longer legs.
「ムキムキからだねん土」 #382
☆ Halloween And Nobi The Frog (2015)
Tumblr media
i feel like this is one of those episodes that every hard-core doraemon fan knows, even if u haven't seen it, u have prolly heard of it if ur here. it's the episode that confirms suneo is one of those (although it's been hinted at for decades).
「ハロウィンとのびガエル」 #418
☆ Outfit Just Give It To Capanna (2021)
Tumblr media
after the animation update in 2018 the titles just kept getting weirder and the episodes more boring, are they even making original episodes anymore nowadays? cuz they're always making those horrible remakes of classic episodes... but this is the exception, it's cute as fuck. yeah, once again nobita is jealous that suneo has a passion and is good at doing what he loves, so he asks doraemon for help. it's annoying bc he doesn't want it as bad as suneo does, he just wants to keep up with him (he can't), but all these episodes with the fashion designer thing are nice so i'll focus on that. also it's cute that suneo's mom lets him wear and borrow her clothes!
「コーディネートはスネカパで」 #675

In 2005, Club Sega Shinjuku West celebrated its recent opening by inviting Doraemon's voice actress, Nobuyo Ooyama, to serve as shop manager for a day. In addition to signing events and store announcements as Doraemon, Ooyama showed her skills in her favorite game, Arkanoid.

Shizuka briefly met Sewashi, but she didn't know who he was.

In the anime, the two have met more than once. Shizuka doesn't know why Sewashi calls her "grandmother" and thinks he's impolite.

watching the drunken lid episode it is kind of a shame that this episode is banned now for you know, having underage drinking, but i do in fact like it.
i cant imagine how 2005 doraemon would try to stretch the length of this if it were to happen? its pretty cut and dry

The Doraemon story "どんぶらガス" ("Sinking Gas") is a simple one, but I think it's pretty funny. The premise is that Gian takes a nap in the vacant lot and refuses to share it with the other kids, so Doraemon uses the Sinking Gas gadget to let them travel underground, where there's plenty of space for them to hang out.
After a while, the group decides to pull a few jokes on Gian, which ends up scaring him away from the vacant lot and leaves it open for them to play in again. Even Shizuka, who one would probably expect to be too much of a goody two-shoes for this kind of thing, joins in on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I bring this up because this story was adapted by the 2005 Doraemon anime series for the first time this week, and to my surprise given their track record... they didn't downplay Shizuka's involvement. Good on the anime crew for that!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Granted, I think the manga version is still a bit funnier, because everyone wearing short-sleeved outfits means that, with the exception of Doraemon, you can't actually tell who is doing what.)

Doraemon Episodes With English Subtitles
I was thinking I'd add english subs to episodes so people who can't speak japanese can still watch doraemon. there's one thing though, I don't speak japanese either... however considering I'm italian and doraemon is very big in italy we have a lot of episodes in our language so I thought I'd add english subs to those, hoping watchers won't mind. but don't worry, I can assure you that the italian dub is top tier.
p.s. I will be mostly making 1979 episodes considering it's hard as fuck to find those in engsub. but I might as well make some 2005 episodes too.
Episodes I Have Covered So Far:
#623 nobita's wedding?!
#752 drunken lid
#1297 loving stickers
#1402 i am nobiko
#1640 the dream code
#1661 suneo's romance
#1691 the generator of great performances
#1708 counseling note

Obscure Animation Subject #65: Gu Gu Ganmo
Originally posted on Twitter on April 25, 2023.
Based on the manga series by Fujihiko Hosono, its produced by Toei Animation and aired on Fuji TV from March 18, 1984 to March 17, 1985, with most episodes containing two 11-minute segments. It originally aired on Sundays at 7 PM.
The series follows in the footsteps of manga such as Doraemon and Obake no Q-Taro in that the alien Ganmo sets out to help his adopted human friend Hanpeita. The series follows the antics of the duo as they find themselves in the middle of much comedic mischief.
Although inspired from the works of Fujiko Fujio, the series is aimed at an older demographic, which means it has raunchier humor when compared to the Fujiko works. This is also apparent when Déjà Vu comes into play, which made the protagonists lives more messed up.
There isn’t really much else I could say. It isn’t subbed in English, though it was successful enough to get home media releases. Hosono would later gain more success when the Gallery Fake manga began publishing, and is still running with an anime adaptation in 2005.
