Compilation of headcanons and analysis about DJ Subatomic Supernova as a father and dealing with parenthood.

glad you like it! I'm still working veeeeery slowly on the other love languages posts, but I lost steam halfway thru, so I'm procrastinating those by answering this one lolol

i'll leave the details as to how he becomes a father up to y'all, since i dont rlly care abt those specifics - adoption, biological kids, etc, up to yall!

DJSS never really considered starting a family nor having children.

As someone who priotizes his work first and foremost, having a family - let alone children who require attention 24/7 - just isn't a possibility in his book, DJSS considers it a setback rather than an ideal lifestyle. So fatherhood is something that's thrown at him and catches him by surprise, if that makes sense. I can only see him accepting such responsibility if it's the only option available, if there's absolutely no one and nowhere else the child can go to.

Once again, he's an outlier when compared to the other Megastars. They have themes of unity, bonding with others and different types of families, not just the nuclear family example: the Sayu Gang have each other, Yinu's parents are a huge an important part of her life, 1010 act as a unit and, whether you see Neon J as their parental figure or not, he's still responsible for them in a way. Eve connects with like-minded artists and her fans, Tatiana connects with the megastars, Vinyl City as a whole and Eve herself. Even DK West is here by virtue of being Zuke's brother. DJSS is just there, all alone.

I like to think that the time he spent working as a teacher had a big impact on him, growing disillusioned overtime with not only his passions but the concept of community - the current DJSS doesn't really see a point in nurturing any sort of relationship that isn't transactional nor profitable.

Some characters worry about being good parents and influences, some worry about their economic situations not being enough to support a child, and so on and so forth. DJSS simply doesn't care about any of that, he's got a stable life and is confident in his skills (at the very least, confident in his ability to learn how to care for a child pretty quickly). He just... never considered the idea of being a father.

Whether the kid is a boy or a girl or anything else, he doesn't care. He has no preference. The only opinion he has relates to the amount of kids he'll allow - which is one. The less kids running around, the better.

Treats parenthood like a job, basically. DJSS appears to be a neglectful parent on the outside, but is very attentive to his kid's needs.

There is always a sense of distance and a layer of feigned indifference when it comes to his very scarce relationships, this is no different.

During the first years, DJSS makes a point to treat his role as a father like a job - it's how he tackles things, seeing them as tasks to solve. His approach can be easily read as him being uninterested, maybe even neglectful - at least to outsiders. DJSS has cultivated quite the reputation, being a polarizing figure to the public and all, so the fact that he has a child certainly doesn't sit well with those who exclusively see him for being arrogant and irresponsible.

He's very private about this aspect of his life, ignoring any questions about his child or his struggles as a parent. It's easy to assume he just doesn't care at all.

Those who DO know DJSS are fully aware of his dedication, his work ethics might be unorthodox and only make sense to him but damn if he doesn't get the job done. The reason he can act so casual is because of the work he puts in behind the scenes, multitasking a hundred different things to ensure the kid is fully cared for. After all, the happier this kid is, the less troublesome they'll be.

I imagine that during the first years, he provides for the child without getting himself directly involved. If they show interest in something in particular, like dinosaurs for example, DJSS won't take them to any exhibits but he will buy them encyclopedias and leave documentaries on for them to watch. If they need interaction and friends, he'll set up weekly playdates with Yinu (if she's not too old) - maybe even let the other Megastars babysit his kid. They've all probably pestered him about bringing his kid to work just so they can meet them, finding babysitters isn't a problem.

Once again, distance. DJSS doesn't want his career to end so suddenly just because he has to take care of a human life. Until he finds his footing and comes to term with being a father, DJSS resorts to finding people who are properly equipped to care for the kid when needed, all while he ensures that all of their needs are met without directly stepping in.

He becomes very perceptive to his kid and any changes in their behaviour, being able to tell if they've had a bad day or if they're hiding something from him just from a few glances. DJSS makes sure to be informed about his kid's friends, their passions and hobbies, likes and dislikes... All so he can nudge them in the right direction or give them advice in his own subtle way.

I want to insist that this isn't a case of an unloving father who purposefully ignores his child. It's more so an issue of properly connecting and bonding with each other. DJSS knows them like the back of his hand, but only the things he's been able to gleam and observe - and his child? They wouldn't be able to tell you HIS favorite color. And yet they both care about each other in their own way. It's a very one-sided, complex family dynamic.

Contrary to popular belief, DJSS would not want to be his kid's teacher. But their education is still very important to him.

Does he have a lot of things to say about the current education system? Yes. Does he think he could do a better job than every single teacher in Vinyl City? Absolutely, his ego is big enough for that.

But when it comes to his kid's education, DJSS understands that he's been a little out of touch with the basics. He didn't get a degree to be an elementary or highschool teacher, after all.

While he can't pick them up from school or attend every single parent-teacher meeting, DJSS makes a point of meeting all of his kid's teachers to ensure they're taking their jobs seriously and also keeps up with the curriculum - just in case his kid has any trouble with homework. Part of him does want them to have great grades, as otherwise would reflect poorly on him, but at the end of the day, DJSS would want them to do their best, to learn out of a genuine sense of curiosity.

I can see DJSS and his kid having study sessions, in which he casually complains about all the new things that he "should know about" like the old man he is, but feeling a surge of pride whenever his kid corrects him - something about seeing himself in them and whatnot. If they end up becoming interested in his own field of work, he'll be SO smug and happy about it.

Let's be honest, his kid is bound to have at least some interest in something space-adjacent given... Well, their father being a literal black hole and astrophysicist. It would be suuuuper funny to me if his kid became interested in astrology instead during their rebellious teens, just to spite him. Either way, if they choose something else entirely, he'll support them (after some nagging like "are you SURE that's what you want?" etc).

Maybe this is the way he could properly bond with his kid, while also rekindling his love for teaching and letting go of some bitter old habits and views.

DJSS is the type of parent who really starts to connect with his kid once they grow up, when the passage of time hits him all at once and he worries about them not being close.

Somehow, it's easier to DJSS to deal with a rebellious teenager or a struggling young adult than dealing with a child or toddler.

Probably one of the very few characters who can stand having a sassy kid who talks back or drops the most devastating comebacks ever - he can't complain there, they picked up that attitude directly from HIM, he can tell. They've absolutely heard him talk down to NSR staff and anyone who pisses him off.

I get the feeling he and his kid would banter a lot, growing closer while struggling to find ways of being vulnerable around each other - because another thing that his kid gets from him is that lingering distance. They're probably used to independence, to doing things on their own and not ask for help unless strictly necessary because that's exactly DJSS' own modus operandi.

So it's all awkward, baby steps towards progress. But the second DJSS and his kid become besties, it's absolutely OVER for everyone else. Everyone in NSR knows better than to try and out-sass them when they're together.

Expect a lot of debates, just a lot of them about anything and everything. Either for shits and giggles, to discuss theories or really in-depth stuff. People often assume they're arguments because of how seriously he and his kid seem to take it, but it's all in good fun.

Personally, as combative and defensive DJSS can be when it comes to subjects he's passionate about (or because of his pettiness), I don't see him being the type to ever argue with his kid. At this point, he's fully come to terms with his role as their dad. If there's anyone worth listening to on this side of the universe is his kid. Had it been anyone else, he would've just walked out the door and ignored them, but that's his kid. Their opinion is important to him.

And here's a random assortment of headcanons I don't have enough to expand on!

DJSS is absolutely the type of parent who gloats and brags about anything his kid achieves to every single other parents in the vicinity. He might have a hard time being verbally and physically affectionate with his kid, but damn if he doesn't love talking everyone's ears off about their achievements.

He doesn't take many photos nor have any dedicated albums to them as a family, but he 100% saves all of their tests and essays and homework and drawings.

Has a lot of small tapes recorded throughout the years for his kid. These range from sneaky recordings of them as a kid babbling about silly things, him reading bedtime stories to them when they were young, heartfelt apologies or speeches that he never got the courage to say outloud, retellings of specific events like their first failed exam, their first broken bone, their first trip somewhere... Or very domestic things like grocery shopping lists, etc etc. He's dramatic and extra like that.

Least likely to threaten his kid's romantic partner to treat them right or else. DJSS trusts their judgement. However, expect to be blacklisted from any NSR-owned facility and store within Cast Tech should you break his kid's heart.

I like to think that his kid calls Eve "Auntie" and that she's the only one within NSR to get that special treatment, since I HC DJSS and Eve as besties <3. She's also the one to save them from DJSS' fashion sense cause he thinks it's perfectly fine to wear shorts in the middle of winter.

DJSS is entirely indifferent about their preference for EDM or Rock, that's their business. But he would love to be involved when/if his kid starts to dabble in music.

DJSS does have space-themed nicknames for his kid, but he's worried about being cringe so he only uses them whenever his kid isn't within earshot. He couldn't care less about random people hearing him use these nicknames and whatnot, but as much as he denies it, he wants his kid to think he's cool.

2-Who Fell First?

Barriss because I believe she’s the kind of person who is very in tune with her feelings and that it didn’t take long for her to be taken by Ahsoka and fall head over heels in love. Poor thing would go on for weeks gay panicking around Ahsoka until she finally cracks. Ahsoka, on the other hand, seems to be more aloof and seems to be the type to need time to process her feelings and connect the dots.

13-Whose more likely to give the “shovel talk” Anakin or Luminara and how?

Definitely Anakin seeing how *very* passionate he gets about the people he cares about…I mean the dude straight up gives Barriss the evil eye when Luminara suggested that Barriss be the one to lead her and Ahsoka in the weapons factory. Barriss at that point has done literally nothing and Anakin is already looking like Vader so for Ahsoka to pursue a relationship with her would be a very BIG deal for Anakin. He’d probably scare the poor girl out of nowhere in the Temple and give her a not so discrete conversation much to both Luminara and Ahsoka’s dissatisfaction. Barriss would be shaking in her boots but determined to prove Anakin wrong. Luminara on the other hand would most likely just let the girls be because she is very trusting of her Padawan and she owes Ahsoka her life. HOWEVER that won’t stop Luminara from watching Ahsoka and teasing her every so often about “not making her girl cry or else” that make Ahsoka shit bricks.

16-What is Barriss’s favorite physical feature on Ahsoka?

Definitely Ahsoka’s buff bod. I mean the girl GOT GUNS and I think Barriss would be blushing real bad seeing Ahsoka work out and would sneakily watch her from afar fanning herself and all 🤣

21-Whose more likely to initiate intimacy first?

Barriss, she may be quiet but it’s usually the quiet ones that are the spiciest in bed and since she’s a smart girl, she knows exactly what she wants and where she wants it. Though, she would be gentle and patient with Ahsoka (who is kinda scarred seeing Anakin and Padme be all gross with each other all the time) guiding her and giving her all the time until she’s fully comfortable.

23-How do they comfort each other?

Ahsoka shows her affection and support mainly with physical touch by holding Barriss close and constantly reassuring Barriss that everything is going to be okay and that Ahsoka has her. Anything Barriss needs, Ahsoka gets until Barriss is ready to talk things out. When the roles are reversed, Barriss communicates her support through acts of service like making/getting Ahsoka’s favorite foods, turning on Ahsoka’s comfort holomovie, etc. and gifting her with comforts like a handmade cloak or something she knows would put a smile on Ahsoka’s face. Regardless both women would stay by their partner’s side no matter what, listening, and doing whatever it takes to make the other feel better.

32-How would Barriss bond with Anakin?

Since Anakin is an excellent fighter, Barriss would most likely ask to spar with him (and do everything she can to win everytime) and knowing how reckless Anakin can be, he’d probably be spending some time in the healing halls where Barriss works and she’d help him out.

40-Whose “big spoon” and whose “little spoon”?

Ahsoka is big spoon and Barriss is little spoon. One, it makes the most sense given their height difference, but they have their reasons. Ahsoka loves having her hands around/on Barriss’s big boobs and loves to bury herself in her hair whilst Barriss loves being held and feeling Ahsoka’s heartbeat on her back and her breath by her ear.

41-Are there any kinks?

Yes! Ahsoka loves be spanked and tossed around by Barriss, especially when Barriss slams her against a wall or wherever they are and pins her by the wrists or lightly on the throat because she finds an aggressive Barriss very hot. Barriss, on the other hand, loves it when Ahsoka bites and claws especially on her neck, chest, and thigh areas (anywhere that’s easy to cover that is). Meanwhile Ahsoka just has shit everywhere, her side of the bed somewhat made and her nightstand full of odds and ends that she always has a “perfectly good explanation for” which drives Barriss mad and is always tempted to clean Ahsoka’s organized chaos.

I Just Don't Understand The Decision to align the end with the books. i've never Read the books but i Do Know that they are extremely different (because i've heard abt whats up and i'm just not super interested so ive never checked em out) and HTTYD1, while awesome, is not a faithful adaptation in any sense of the word. and KEEP IN MIND. from what IVE HEARD. the relationship between humans and dragons in the books is more fraught and unfair than the one in the movies. like ive heard stuff about slavery and pets. but the movie makes it almost a Point to say that the dragon riders treat their dragons equally and every place in which the two coexist do this as well. theres a reason why Hiccup calls Toothless His Best Friend. in the books it makes sense to separate the two groups, because there was genuine harm being done no matter what happened and separation was the best solution, but in the movie-verse the relationship being fought for was mutually beneficial and also had real, tangible support behind it that was having payoffs. idk if there was like a deal with Cressida Cowell for the end of the franchise but it did not work with the context set up by the other two movies. ur telling me all these dragons who bonded irreplacably with their riders, their best friends, wouldnt say "hey, fuck you, i'm staying"? they ALL went to this secret hidden cave after facing a bad guy that doesnt even seem that intimidating after u watch RTTE? like that love wasnt strong enough to defy everything? <- U KNOW. THE POINT OF THE SERIES.

speaking of which, HTTYD is like almost obnoxiously in your face about its theme of disability. the first movie is about a someone who can't do things everyone else can (kill dragons) who befriends someone else who also can't do things everyone (other dragon) else can (fly), then they help each other and make themselves and the world better for it. Hiccup makes Toothless a mobility aid and Hiccup literally becomes an amputee at the end of the movie and its framed as a moment of connection and understanding between the two rather than a tragedy. in the second movie, the villain is literally someone looking to enslave all dragons using the big mind-controlly dragon (i have some issue with the whole "the alpha protects them all" theme of HTTYD2. i get what they were going for but i don't think it was executed super well. the rest of the material introduced is super solid despite that tho imo) he abused since birth and Toothless broke out of it because of the depth of his attachment and then proceeded to beat the big dragon's ass to protect Hiccup. the entire theme being set up here is about strength in compassion, acceptance, and togetherness. these stories about outcasts proving themselves inherently worthy of love due to their difference and connection and not in spite of it Are The Type Of Stories most marginalized communities latch onto for obvious reasons. u see it literally everywhere—thats why the queer community calls some movies "queer movies" even though there might not be any characters that are actually queer. this type of setup is actually almost like a gateway for authors to address these subjects when it might otherwise be censored because it's so fucking prevalent and recognizable.

and i dont know if the directors or w/e Knew This and i don't want to accuse anyone of anything because they were clearly very, very passionate but introducing a Girl Character (I UNDERSTAND THAT the light fury is a different species and this is why she looks so different than Toothless but imo... she still falls into the "softer pink small female design" trope because they could've chosen to Not Make light furies look like that, especially bc every female dragon and even human design has been pretty good beforehand, so what changed?) with which Toothless falls in love with Immediately and is on screen for a total of EIGHT MINUTES who causes him to leave Hiccup forever without much thought is like the One Thing u dont do when u have themes like this. the movie tries to frame Hiccup's care for Toothless as clingyness but like... ur kidding me. HUH? THIS WAS NEVER A PROBLEM. Hiccup and Toothless being inseparable was Always framed as a strength that helped themselves and the people around them. thats why i sometimes talk abt HTTYD3 "hetero-ifying" the series. it tries really hard to deliver a "mature" message about ~*: . ~ letting go what you love ~*: . ~ but this was completely unnecessary if you think about it for more than two seconds in context with the 2 other movies and EIGHT SEASONS of tv shows its placed in. there was NO REASON for the dragons to go to the hidden world. Grimmel was no more of a threat thematically than Drago or Viggo. he had badass powerful dragons on his side but his motivation was the same Narratively. what made him Win this time? it just makes the entire thing feel like a cheap grab at tears and toy figurines in order to seem more adult than the other two despite its incoherency—Hiccup says the dragons will stay away until the humans can learn enough to deserve them, but they won't learn if they're separate from each other! This Is Like ABYSMAL post-hoc justification for the decision to have the dragons leave. and then the very end of the movie has Hiccup finding Toothless again (who FORGOT HIM? thats almost offensive) anyways, because who cares, whatever. anything for the audience to cry.

i dunno. i feel like despite the amount of care n passion put into HTTYD3, it's really.... not in the same spirit of the other two. all of the movie-verse media contradicts its message and themes, and it barely addresses this in a way i think is acceptable for the level of care n passion that was put in. there must've been thought and consideration here, all of the people working on it must've loved what they were making, so that's why i dont Get why HTTYD3 is the way it is. it's existence leaves the Entire Franchise feeling really hollow—without it the franchise is a statement about the power of love and belief in a better world, it features characters struggling to help themselves and their friends live in happiness no matter what challenges they face. with it, it says that these things are childish and something to let go. that the determination to make things better for yourselves and the people you love in spite of all the horrible people telling you otherwise is immature and needs to be grown out of. thats so fucking awful, dude, and thats why i don't really get how people who love the themes of the other media in the series can like the third movie.

anyway. LMFAO. this will probably be the end of me complaining abt this movie bc i addressed basically all my issues and id feel annoying repeating stuff in other posts. love u nonnie ur very funny.

Okay so I had this whole plan to go over who would be besties and enemies within the boys group then the girls group, and then both together, but I became obsessed with the girls friend dynamic!

So for the girls I can see a sort of mean girls friend group situation happening because they all have their own very different and distinct personalities that could on one end allow them to lean on eachother for various types of support or on the other end, cause a lot of conflict.

First off, Zara is obviously the head honcho. The elite leader of the group who takes the initiative to plan where they are all gonna hang out, what they are all gonna do, ect ect. I feel as tho she'll take into consideration what the other two are into and sometimes do things that fall into Olive and Margos interests, but most of the time shes calling the shots. Also I can see her being VERY overprotective over the other two if they become good enough friends. Like, she'll act as if they are disposable at times but if someone makes a sly comment on Margos apperance or says Olive is an airhead, Zara is going for blood.

Olive is the super supportive positive bestie who although may not know whats going on sometimes, will undoubtly stab a bitch or help in a makeup or outfit crisis. She is down to do basically whatever and has enough positive energy to get the group out of any negative vibes when they are in a less than pleasant situation. Also I personally think Olive is really great at dealing with more emotional situations so if maybe Margo was having a panic attack or feeling very uncomfortable Olive is the one who is able to bring her back down, and the same goes for when someone angers or upsets Zara. Olive jumps right in to difuse the situation so Zara doesn't commit a murder.

And Margo, albeit the more shy and reserved member of the trio, provides good analytical advice for different problems the other two are going through, and is a VERY good listener. Margo is the very much needed calming factor in the group due to the others huge personalities but also knows when to step back when needed. Now I think the other two push Margos limits a lot due to the fact that she is not big into social situations with a lot of people and that can perhaps lead to arguements further down the line, but I dont nessicarily think that its a toxic friendship and that Margo is being forced to do anything she doesnt want to. At least most of the time 👀, (Peer pressure is no joke) but I think that Margo sort of likes the fact that her friends care so much as to try to push her to be better, although they can be A LOT sometimes.

There are many ways that this friendship can fail due to their comflicting personalities, but I think with communication and understanding (maybe in a world where they arent yanderes 👀) they can have a really great and long lasting friendship.

hot take but there are some people out there who don't fall into either the category of "transition surgery saved my life" OR "i regret getting transition surgery." i know its really easy and convenient to sort trans people into one of those two boxes for your trolley problems or whatever but it's actually a lot more complicated than that. hrt is a genetic grab bag--you're gonna have people who get zero traits they wanted and zero traits they hate, or youre going to get people with a little bit of both, or youre going to get people who dont like the changes that happened to their bodies but they don't regret or want to undo those changes either. gender affirming surgery runs the risk of complications and (depending on the surgery) hormonal changes that you may or may not have wanted or been equipped to deal with--and like before, that doesnt fall neatly into either the "love it" or the "hate it" box. some people want gender affirming surgery without it being related to a gender TRANSITION--gender affirming surgery and hrt are not just for trans people! moreover, depending on your body type some surgeries may not be POSSIBLE, and that also impacts "trans dissatisfaction" in a way that detransitioning/regretting specifically surgeries does not measure.

overall, it's a big fuckin' world out there. we're a big community with a lot of varied people who have varying opinions about their bodies. you can like some parts of your transition journey but hate others; you can feel totally neutral about it; you can even not UNDERSTAND how you feel about it, and all of those things are okay. and you can feel all of those things regardless of your gender identity. you can regret having surgery but still be trans, you can want/get surgery and be cis.....like i said, it's a big world out there and two neat little boxes just doesnt account for that! and it’s also not really a great thing to use people who regret having surgery as a way to point and go, "hey those people were WRONG about their bodies and that makes them bad people that we should throw under the bus while claiming that that supports trans rights."

our relationship was not really the typical “goals”, fun, adventurous type of relationship. It was more of like waves that is either calm or chaotic. We were always on extremes states not really in between. He was the calm guy in our relationship and i was mostly the chaotic one who obviously makes a big deal out of the simple things. Our relationship mostly consisted of him focusing on building a career and i trying to get through each day in med school. Our dates would usually consist of us staying in the condo studying and waking him up early for work. Our days would mostly consist of few msgs, jgh updates and good night texts. We didn’t have all the time to be together thats why i’d always wish that we can just stay how we are when we’re together and never go back to our reality. He is my safe haven. He brings both calmness and chaos in my life. He gives me all kinds of emotions i possibly l know i can feel. He made me realize how much i can and willing to give for us. Our relationship right now is currently not in the highs probably because he currently has this priority of building his self thru his career. It honestly takes so much patience, sacrifice, and understanding for my part to the point that ive already doubted if i was actually settling for someone less? you just cant help to think if youre finally with the right person when you see all these fb and tiktok posts claiming you deserve someone who would cross oceans for you because with him it was more of letting ourselves grow and stand on our own feet. He’s not sweet as he was before. We rarely talk about our days anymore. The I love you’s probably lessened. The clinginess also faded. Late night call never happened again. The effort is slowly fading as well. They say that if you want a relationship to work even after the honeymoon phase.. simple effort should still be there. Its not really about the grand gestures but mostly the simple ones will do. This was something i’d always tell him but he always reasons out na “ubos na siya” because of work and its hard for him to give when there’s nothing already in him. He never really bothered me with his problems, he mostly wanted to deal it on his own. Thats just how he is. He comes to me if he needs support and encouragement and id happily be there for him. Hello asia! I'm going to title this essay "Why Boyfriends is about Louis - and that's okay!" by a friendly neighboorhood trans larrie. So let's give some background shall we? If you look at lyrics in the LCU (Larry Cinematic Universe) we can all see the main problem that has come up in their relationship: communication. I'll get into specific examples later but that's what it boils down to. As someone who has been here since 2012, I don't see anything in their lyrics to be about cheating, abuse, etc. So after a few listens of Boyfriends and reading the lyrics, I came to the conclusion that it's definitely about Louis and it's all about the lack of communication Harry felt he was getting during a difficult time. But what time, you may ask? Well, dear reader, in my humble opinion all their relationship troubles are not about cheating, feeling abused, break ups w.e angst wank people seem to think gay relationships can't get through like straight ones. No, imo it lies in a complicated mix of two big things: closeting, and Harry's gender identity. *for disclaimer purposes to cishets already offended by now: saying Harry is trans could mean a variety of things. His pronouns could be he/they/she but there is no denying that in the past 12 years of Harry bring in the spotlight, his relationship with gender is there and something that trans fans have picked up on, just like the gay ones who picked up on their relationship. This is just one person's interpretation of their songs so if you don't agree please ignore it. And be kind*

So, you might say, what do you mean, dear anon? Gender in the LCU? More likely than you think! I want to preface by saying that I analyze LCU songs on what I believe happened between them: they were feeling the restraints of their closet early on 2012-14 and were bad at communicating their feelings about it (Louis personality makes me think he's very much the "lets ignore our problems so we dont dwell on them" type man), but during all that Harry was also dealing with gender dysphoria and felt like Louis was shutting him out so he had no one to talk to. So when Harry finally opened up about it, Louis felt awful for not being there for him. Too Young reads as a big apology for all of that but I'll get back to that later. Take Walls and how its about Harry. Verse 1: "nothing wakes you up like waking up alone, and all thats left of us is a cupboard full of clothes" (very clearly referring to a closet with "us") "the day you walked away and took the higher ground was the day that I became the man that I am now". Now bear with me here: imo this entire intro is Louis describing their relationship as they deal with Harry's gender identity. Why? Because look at the word "higher ground". When do you go to higher ground? When flooding happens aka water disasters. Water, which has literary themes of rebirth when you emerge from it, is a big theme in Harry's music videos. Specifically with Falling with him underwater lamenting about his identity. He's drowning, feeling worthless, "what if I'm someone you won't talk about?". I believe Falling is about Harry feeling the lows of being trans, overthinking how it affects Louis, and the music video reflects that. Now back to Walls. The day Harry was able to escape the drowning (gender acceptance and euphoria) and take higher ground was the time Louis finally felt like they solved the worst of their communication issues and Louis could be "the man that I am now" in being an ultra supportive partner. The high walls Louis sings about is the way he used to box himself in from trying to deal with their problems (that he only thought was closeting but instead much deeper) but in the end they all came "falling" (*pointed stare*) down for Harry. Thats why he laments about "hurting who you love and no amount of words would ever be enough" when its literally the love of his life "you were my because". Louis has always been supportive of the trans community so I think he was kicking himself for a long time for not noticing what was happening with Harry. That's why the "thank yous" are so bittersweet. It was a painful but necessary wakeup call of not being there for his partner but they both grew from it. Perfect Now was born out of Louis giving Harry gender affirmations. Always You and We Made It are celebrating that they got through it together. But what about Too Young and Defenceless? Fear not! Because this is how they tie into Boyfriends. (2)

Boyfriends reads as Harry feeling unsupported Louis. In fact, think of it as Harry talking to a mirror about his problems after a hard day. Verse 1: "boyfriends, they think you're so easy, they take you for granted" The you is himself of course. Because of the lack of communication in their relationship, Harry felt like Louis wasn't paying attention to him. "They don't know they're misunderstanding you". This line speaks volumes to me. When you use "misunderstanding" it means that someone isn't understanding you correctly. But the boyfriend does not know that he's not understanding Harry correctly, right? Sound familiar to past themes in songs? As stated before Too Young feels like a big apology song by Louis for not being there for him. "I wish I could've seen it all along" stands as a mirror to the misunderstanding line. "I'm sorry that I hurt you darling" again for all the pain the lack of communication caused and not being there for Harry. And the rest of Too Young follows this apology theme that answers Boyfriends. The last line of the verse ends with "you, you're back at it again" and means Harry realizes the way the problem keeps coming back and he's just back to crying about it without solving it. (3)

Next verse goes "weekend, when you get deep in" could talk about how they both aren't working at the end of the week and Harry has time to get lost in his thoughts ( reminds me of "harry you're no good alone" from As It Was). "He starts secretly drinking, it gets hard to know what he's thinking" = Louis drinking with his lad friends where he's able to vent about their problems, but Harry wouldn't know about what they're saying because Louis doesn't vent to him. "You love a fool who knows how to get under your skin" Harry lamenting that Louis isn't open about their problems and goes to talk to others instead of trying to solve it themselves (Imo Defenceless tells Louis side of the story to Boyfriends with nod to "sleeping on our problems like we'll solve them in our dreams" and feeling shut out by Harry too). "You, you, you still open the door" when Louis comes home yet still not talking about their problems and it eats him inside. Verse 3 goes "you're no closer to him, now you're halfway home, only calling you in, don't wanna be alone, no and you go, why? You don't know". Again the theme of Harry not wanting to be alone, yet not feeling close to Louis, and questioning why he still goes through with it. Harry also sings is as "half way home" like the space in between that's just like the song Louis registered. I wouldn't be surprised if Louis Half Way Home song will have the miscommunication theme too. Verse 4: "Boyfriends, are they just pretending? They don't tell you where it's heading" and this reads like Harry feels as if Louis is just pretending to care for him at that point, and questions what's going to happen to their relationship. "And you know the games never ending, you, you lay with him as you stay in a daydream" and time for a "she" throwback! At this point everyone must know that She is all about Harry's gender journey. "She lives in daydreams with me" is a clear reference to this daydream line. Harry truly feels himself in those daydreams that Louis doesn't know about. And someone might listen to "boyfriends" and think "well why doesn't Harry just tell him?". If it was only so simple. Harry being trans could have made him scared of what that meant for his relationship with Louis. Would Louis break up with him? Would he look at him different? Would he not support him? Again this is the love of his life since he was 16. It can be incredibly scary to think Louis would leave him because he found his true self. It's very clear that Harry tends to think of worst case scenarios when he's hurting, and the fact he couldn't talk with Louis openly added onto those fears. They were already having problems because of what their closet put them through, so imagine Harry thinking it would be worse with a gender crisis. That's why he tells himself in the mirror "you're a fool, you're back at it again". It becomes a cycle of hurt once again as long as they don't talk. (4)

So now as this essay comes to an end, someone might ask "well who is to blame for their problems?". Let us not forget the real villain of the story: homophobia. The closet due to this gave them their biggest problems, and we can't even begin to cover what the homophobic world has done to gays mental health. Also Simon Cowell can burn. Now as for Harry and Louis? I think they both realized how bad their communication was and were able to solve it with each other. Louis tried to keep them happy in their closet by not talking about their problems caused by it, and while it was with good intentions, it ended up leaving Harry alone to deal with his gender identity. Harry's gender journey ended up (to no one's surprise) being fully supported by Louis once he knew, and it ended up making their relationship stronger. I believe Lights Up was born right after this, with the themes of "never going back" and the questions of "do you know who you are?" recurring about identity and feeling joy about finding yourself. It fills me with joy to know that Harry has a partner in Louis that loves him truly and was able to give him so much support over the years (that is obviously reciprocal you heathen rads). I truly believe Harry wouldn't be here without Louis. They are it for each other and always have been. So thank you Louis Tomlinson for being the partner all of us trans folk would want in our lives someday. No wonder H is so much in love with you.

hey ive only recently learned that antipsychiatry is a thing and im trying to learn more about it. i came across your psych ward post and i totally see your point. and im trying to think about what could be done differently. for example a couple years ago my friend had drug induced psychosis and his friends brought him to a hospital where he then had to stay in the psych ward. especially in the beginning i could tell he hated it there. but at the same time he was having delusions. and unfortunately i just dont know what else couldve been done in that situation to help him. do you think theres a better way to deal with that kind of situation? or would it only be possible to deal with it differently in a totally different world? i hope its ok to ask u this question im just interested in ppls perspective who have personal experience w this

I think it can be really difficult at first to imagine what alternatives to psych wards are when psych wards are all we've ever known. It can feel like the options are psych wards or no mental healthcare at all, which really sucks! But I firmly believe that there are other options, and in fact there are people creating those in the world right now. My answer might get a little long, but I'm going to try to organize my thoughts!

Replacing psych wards is definitely a big task, and is one that requires fundamentally reshaping the entire psychiatric system. Right now, so much of mental healthcare is really entwined with the restrictive, carceral, and oppressive systems of government. Whether it's the fact that most crisis hotlines call the police, that therapists have mandatory reporting laws around self-harm, or incredibly restrictive medication laws that make it difficult for people to actually get the meds they need, almost every area of professionalized mental health is connected to this fucked up structure. Lots of different parts of the mental health care system work together to perpetuate psychiatric incarceration, so it's not just psych wards that are the problem.

Another factor that feels important to me when talking about getting rid of psych wards is addressing some of the factors that push people into psych wards in the first place. There are always going to be mentally ill/mad/neurodivergent people and there are always going to be people in crisis, but I think that if our mental healthcare system wasn't so fucked, that maybe some people would be able to get help before things get to a crisis point for them. If medication was more accessible, if therapy wasn't super expensive, if there is more acceptance and education and resources and communities were better informed about how to support mentally ill people, then maybe not as many people would end up in some types of crisis. We can't talk about getting rid of psych wards without also talking about fighting against racism, colonialism, capitalism, transphobia--the things that are contributing to a lot of people's experiences of crisis.

In terms of actual physical replacements for psych wards, something that I think is really promising is peer respite houses. Basically, peer respite houses offer 24/7 crisis stabilization, staffed by people with lived experiences of mental health. They differ from psych wards in that they are not locked spaces, they are usually in a home-like environment, they are not focused on psychiatric diagnoses, and there's a large focus on trying to eliminate power imbalances between staff and residents. Here's a great link to read more about the mission and structure of peer respite. Here's a link to a mostly current directory of peer respite in the USA. I think peer respite is pretty awesome, and that's definitely something that's on my personal crisis plan for when I get to a crisis point where I cannot stay safe living on my own.

Realistically, psych wards don't really provide treatment, don't really work for many people, and are not really places that you go for healing. When you're at a psych ward, you aren't getting tailored therapy, you often only see a psychiatrist for fifteen minutes once or twice a week, and the stated goal really isn't on healing or treatment. It's on crisis stabilization to get you to a point where you are no longer at risk of harming yourself. And I think peer respite can do crisis stabilization so much more effectively, without locking up people, without giving them huge medical bills, without restraining people or drugging them without consent. There's a lot of peer respites that are connected to outpatient treatments and get people set up with therapy and medication if that's what they need.

I can't really speak to what would or wouldn't have worked for your friend, but I fundamentally believe that mentally ill/mad people deserve the right to our autonomy, and deserve our consent to be respected. It can and does get tricky in cases when people are harming themselves, delusional, or incoherent. However, as someone who has experienced all of those things, that is still not an excuse to just take away people's ability to consent and to lock people up. There are ways to support people who are refusing treatment, don't think there is a problem, or are unable to express their wishes. I could go on about that specific topic for a lot longer haha, but I'm just going to end with the fact that although it can seem like psych wards are the only option, there actually are a lot of people creating community resources as alternatives to psychiatry! We are working on building the different world that we want to see, and even though we are definitely not even close to there yet, there really are so many cool things that people are already doing to support each other.

- thoma enjoys pretty much any type of shared activities with you, but ultimately his favorite kind is any that involves food. he'll go on tours of inazuma city with you to find the best places to get ice cream, or he'll buy a whole bunch of food and see what kind of dishes you can make together! nine times out of ten it ends up being really weird and a little gross, but it's fun and he loves spending time with you.

B-Beauty (what do they admire about their s/o? what do they think is beautiful about them?)

- he admires your ambition, your humor, and your own personal flair. he loves the person you are, and almost everything that goes into that, but he specifically loves the unique little traits that make you you.

- his first instinct is to give you a big hug or rub your back, but only if he knows you're okay with it and that it would actually help. his first goal is to make sure you're okay, and then his second goal is to cheer you up: with bad jokes and kisses, usually

- thoma isn't super picky with how you two end up in the future, as long as you're together and happy. he wants to grow old with you, ideally, though however you do that will decide itself.

- thoma is used to taking the lead in your relationship, but he's not necessarily more dominant or anything - he's just excited to be with you and wants to make sure you're just as happy as he is. your relationship is pretty balanced!

- he loves loves loves going out on walks, especially in the city, and just finding random things that seem fun to do. there are a bunch of people playing cornhole over there, how about you guys join in for a game? they're selling a new kind of hotpot at that restaurant, better give it a try!

- he's definitely aware of everything you do for him, and he's also very grateful that you're with him. he makes sure to let you know that every day.

- i think the only time thoma would ever keep something from you on purpose is if it would be somehow dangerous for you to know. other than that, he likes to make sure you're aware of everything you need to be. he likes his privacy like anyone else, but he also values communication.

I-Inspiration (did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?)

- being with you hasn't necessarily changed him (aside from the fact that you two are almost always seen together now) but it's definitely improved his mood a lot, not that it was ever really bad. he also likes to show off more now that you're around...

- thoma gets jealous relatively easily but is also not one to step in unless it's a situation in which you seem uncomfortable. he trusts you wholeheartedly, which sometimes means he has to keep himself from getting overly worried.

- he's a very good kisser. thoma's kisses are playful and sweet, or alternatively full of reassurance and love. your first kiss was a little rushed and he was a little nervous (not that he'd ever admit that) but he knew it was the right time.

- confesses accidentally while watching you do something that's actually pretty normal. you tap him on the shoulder and ask where he wants to go for lunch and he just kinda stares at you and then says "man i love you" and you're like. what. but he plays it off like he TOTALLY MEANT to say that and definitely didn't slip up.

- lazy lazy lazy. thoma knows he has to go to work but why would he do that when you're next to him all curled up into him? he can't just abandon you like that! fortunately the kamisatos are very forgiving, so when he shows up late they don't give him an earful.

- babe/baby, sunshine, and occasionally sweetheart but usually just to tease you

- when thoma first realizes he's in love with you it hits him like a truck and he has to sit down for a second to process it. after that he hangs around you a lot more often, and it's pretty obvious to anyone watching that he's in love.

P-PDA (how are they with PDA? is it fun to them or are they more reserved with their affection?)

- thoma's comfortable with pda and likes to tease you with it sometimes, unless you're someone who absolutely hates it, in which case he'll settle with handholding. otherwise, he'll give you random light kisses on the cheek or will grab you and pull you into him at random points throughout the day.

Q-Quirk (some random thing they do when they're with you for no reason in particular)

- his nose scrunches when he's trying not to laugh at you, which makes you laugh at him, which makes him laugh at you. congratulations! you have achieved pile of laughter.

- thoma is very romantic and also values friendship with his partner as well. he's sort of a mix between cliché and creative - while he will definitely take you out for a fancy dinner and lend you his jacket, he will also take you out to the lake and push you in or make a date out of who can spot the most dogs on a day out.

- one hundred percent he believes in you and will do his best to help you achieve any goals you have. ok thats the end of this headcanon i have nothing else to say GHCCN

- thoma loves trying new things! he doesn't need things to change constantly (and also that might be very tiring for him) but he does like to switch things up a little.

- thoma is very empathetic, so he's quick to understand how you're feeling, though it'll take him a little longer to understand why it is you're feeling like that. once you explain to him, he knows just what to do, whether it be celebrate with you on a big win or comfort you or give you some space.

- it's SO important to him. having you in his life is one of the most important things to him. he's also been with the kamisatos for a really long time though, so thoma will need a little bit to sort out where his priorities are. rest assured that you're definitely up there.

- thoma really likes the feeling of you running your fingers through his hair. bonus points if you wash it for him (he'll return the favor)

Hey im thinking of playing genshin impact, is there anything i should know before i take the plunge?

It’s a fun game with a great story, but it can also prey on the minds of those not familiar with gacha. So my big tip is to not let the community make you think you always have to roll for the new units or the “new meta” units.

There are two types of players: casual players and competitive players gearing up for spiral abyss.

But both can fall prey to this because new character is cute or hot, or some people will think they are a comfort character. But you really have to remind yourself, it is just a game at the end of the day.

Endgame content can be cleared with patience. Spiral Abyss will never disappear and the rewards for clearing the new floors will only be 600 primogems, which is like only 3 and 1/2 rolls. So spending over $100 just to clear that is not rational.

Okay, now that’s out of the way.. then my newbie tips are:

1. Roll the limited or first banner with everything you have. The ones that use intertwined fates because you can get a 5 star character from it or the one with Intertwined fates. Do not use primogems for the 3rd Wanderlust Invocation banner that has Qiqi on it. Only use Acquaint Fates for that one. I made the newbie mistake of rolling the third banner when I started. Limited banner has the best value cause you will always get a 5 star unit eventually there.

2. Save your fragile resins. Do not use them until Adventurer Rank 45 because you will need as many as you can get when you start farming artifacts.

3. If you decide you want to do the endgame Spiral Abyss (DPS check, timed challenge), then you need to have two teams ready ideally each with the following roles:

- Main DPS, Sub/Burst DPS, Shielder, Healer

4. Starter units can also clear endgame content. Some f2p content creators who can prove this are: Enviosity and BWAAP. Check their clears of Spiral Abyss and you can see that with investment, everyone is viable.

5. All of the 4 star gacha units can carry you to endgame. Gacha gods blessed me with Razor when I started, and I have perfectly cleared all floors of current spiral abyss with him as one of my main DPS. But yes besides Razor, everyone is capable so play and raise who you love.

6. If you end up deciding to spend (because I will not be a hypocrite as I too have spent on this game willingly to support a game I enjoy), then the monthly welkin is the best deal (i can show the math for you, but to put things simply: you get $50 USD worth of Primogems from only paying $4.99 a month). There is also the battle pass which is like $11 USD iirc. Maybe you can buy it once for Serpent Spine which is objectively the best 4 star claymore in the game. The rest is not needed. 

7. There is no must have character. So, if you do not get them, it’s not the end of the world. I will emphasize that everyone is viable with investment. It’s true that some 5 stars require less investment, but seriously, a hyperinvested 4 star can out-DPS a badly invested 5 star. 

Some notably strong 4 stars:

Razor, Bennett, Fischl, Xinqiu, Ningguang

If you get them, RAISE THEM. They are secret 5 stars. Other 4 stars are also great though like Chongyun and Beidou. But I dont have them nor raised them. Kaeya is also a great starter unit.

9. Explore! Do the stories! Enjoy the game! There is so much to do so make the most out of your time in Teyvat! Do your commissions and spend your resin everyday if you plan on doing spiral abyss. If you’re a casual player then just play when you feel like it :)
