this piece deserves to go viral, it's like the definition of "why would you say something so controversial*, yet so brave?" (*it shouldn't be controversial, it should be basic human decency, common sense and logic, and respect). i knew the racist insults would be coming and be a part of their delusions just like the ageism was before, just like they will find ANYTHING THEY CAN to attack these women. it's severely unwell and i don't know how we fix it or contain it (beyond mass deprogramming because they're the literal definition of a cult). this mentality is something i've read a lot about over the past few years (not only in regards to H, but generally), and it is very frightening, beyond being extremely invasive to the objects of these conspiracies, it's terrible for the well-being of fans who get sucked into it.

"Facts don’t matter. These insults don’t even need to seem true. They’re just the same old insults used over and over again, to be recycled with every woman who dares to approach their beloved."

They’d keep coming up with more conspiracies because it’s all about the hunt, not the endgame. Just look at all the Free Britney people who are still dissecting her life for ‘proof’ that she needs their help, despite Spears’ own pushback."

it's one of the most disturbing trends of online fandom, and the need to sink into and stew in fabricated misery is awful for everyone involved.

HP Alternatives

A lot of the discussions around H*rry P*tter right now are centered around shutting down all interest. The series was really important or at least entertaining to a lot of people for a pretty long time, so just excising it from one’s life can make for a big gap. Here’s some other works and series that might help fill that:

Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede:

Follows a group of genre-savvy princess, dragon, prince, and witch who live in/around the titular Enchanted Forest, where a lot of Fairy Tale stuff tends to happen. The first book has a dragon on the cover so I snapped it up, and was glad I did! Very fun and easy to get into. Generally slanted towards younger viewers, but still a ton of fun regardless of the age you’re reading at.

Tortall and Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce:

Pierce’s writing has only gotten more diverse over time, and its lent a lot of depth to her works! The Lioness series was where I started, where a girl swaps places with her twin brother so she can earn a knight’s shield in a time when women aren’t allowed to be knights; this has a ripple effect throughout the rest of the Tortall series(es?), each sub-series focusing on a different protagonist - like animal-speaker runaway Daine, or followup knight aspirant Kel. Circle of Magic is about four kids whose lives have been turned upside down, with each book typically focusing on a different one of the four before coming back together, as they navigate losses, found family, enormous catastrophes, and learning their own (and each others’) powers. Largely YA-oriented while still willing to engage with complex issues and allow characters to be flawed and nuanced!

Discworld series by Terry Pratchett:

Like Pierce, you can see Pratchett actively increase diversity as the series goes on, with one of the last Discworld books focusing on goblins, who were written off as a sort of joke species early on; Pratchet choosing to focus on them, their rich inner lives, and how they’re treated by other species in the world ties neatly into his own previous dismissal. Aside from that, expect witches and wizards and those in between, dwarves navigating both surface dwelling and what exactly gender is, enmity between peoples for both very valid and very ridiculous reasons, and an assortment of anticapitalism, antimonarchism, etc. The first few books are a tough place to start - everyone has their own recommendations. I’d say Going Postal (about a conman who now has to deal with Real Life Consequences and topples the capitalist upper class in the process) or Monstrous Regiment (about a girl pulling a Mulan to get her brother back, and learning the truth behind chest-beating patriotism and machismo) are decent starting points. The core series is a bit more “adult” than the previous recommendations, but still really accessible.

The Tiffany Aching subseries (starting with The Wee Free Men) is technically more YA-slanted, but never talks down to its audience and can be easier to get into. Alternately, I can suggest Nation, a standalone book that exists outside of the Discworld series entirely, but is a really good example of the kind of writing you’ll see at Pratchett’s peak or thereabouts. He has a very particular writing style, so Nation is a good litmus for if you’re going to enjoy his work or not.

Honorable Mentions:

The Percy Jackson Series - I never read past the first book, but the first one was pretty good and I know it’s popular, though not without its own issues (specifically treatment of Indigenous American characters?).

The Eragon Series - I was never able to finish this (maybe someday!) but I do recall it being pretty interesting. Can’t speak to the politics in any fashion, it’s been a long time since I read it.

I don’t have the time, attention, or ability to list every fantasy series under the sun, but I think these hit close to how reading the HP books (long before this all happened) felt. Feel free to add your own!

I’m sorry, larries think solo Louies are bigger bullies than h**ries? What world do they live in?H**ries are incredibly rude and often homophobic. They attack Louies and larries but they also think larries are mocked all the time by h*rry and his team (which they are). And larries in turn attack and drive Louies out of the fandom. Because they’re bigger in number. If you think about it logically, it makes sense in a depressing way. The specific sub fandom with the bugger numbers bullies the smaller sun-fandom. That’s what happens in stan culture. Of course there are Louies who are rude and homophobic as well, because people are people and can be homophobic, but h**ries as a group just seem to be incredibly rude and abusive people. Larries just don’t really matter to most of them except as a joke - although they really are obsessed with Louis - because they have a much bigger fan base than larries. And why do they insist they did a lot of work for Louis when hld had a clear bias, especially for their main account, the account that had the most followers? A fair few Louies are accepting of the possibility Louis is in the lgbtqia community, they just don’t only stan him because of a ship. We know why Louis unfollowed, or at least it’s the thing that makes sense, because I remember people saying on Twitter when they heard about the super follow option that Louis wouldn’t like that, he would see it as fans taking advantage of other fans. And that is not something Louis likes at all.

Let me go through this post point by point.

Let’s start with this straw man argument: “Of course you’d find Twitter Larries who constantly see Larry signaling and then there’s Twitter Solo Louies who constantly find new reasons to justify their cyber bullying against Larries.” So this is the false premise: Signaling vs. Cyberbullying (instead of both being … fans of Louis.) Got that?

The reasons cited as triggering bullying behavior: 1. Bringing rainbow flags to Louis’ concerts. This has NEVER HAPPENED. Solo Louis UAs repeated post rainbow projects. 2. Singing Harry’s songs at Louis’ concerts. You’re not at a 1D concert? What if people sang Justin Bieber songs at Harry’s concerts? You’re not serious. 3. People supporting Isaac Anderson… please, these “fans” are not even joking. They think Louis waited six years to tour to showcase his session musician???

“If I wanted to bring my love for Louis to a Twitter Solo Louis UA, I know the comment section will beat my ass for having a Larry pfp, a Larry Twitter banner, a Larry Tumblr blog.” As far as I know, a solo Louis UA has NEVER made unprofessional comments about Larries in their accounts on Twitter or Tumblr. Please point out ONE instance this has happened. Unlike the many times Larrie UAs updating on Louis have made unkind and derogatory remarks about “Rads,” Solo Louies etc. on their UA accounts. Please show me evidence to the contrary.

“It’s circle jerk behavior amongst Twitter Solo UAs with zero impact on Louis’ career or the people the charity money was for… oh wait, the impact was to lessen the success for both, but hey it’s worth it because these UAs feel better about themselves.” As far as I remember, the only time that a project has been repeated questioned, bullied, and fans told not to boycott a charity project for Louis was the TRUE COLORS PROJECT — where Larries held a witch hunt to see who organized it.

“And Larries inviting Louis’ fans to listen to Harry’s songs to understand their music as corresponding work of art goes both ways.” The problem is that Larries interpret Louis’ breath, life, clothing, words, actions as SOLELY in relation to Harry, but it doesn’t go both ways— Harry is allowed to have his own friends, his own hobbies, his own dreams, his own life. He is allowed to have an entire complex personality, imagination, creative independence. This is never allowed for Louis. When was the last time they sang a Louis song at a Harry Styles concert, to “convert” some Harries? Yeah, I thought so.

“Finally, I’d very much prefer if we could stop telling each other what being a real fan means.” Doesn’t this blogger repeatedly call Louies toxic bullies? So they don’t want other fans to judge the sincerity of their fandom experience, but feel very free judging others. I see!

i definitely relate to what you said about being uninterested in childrens book when you were younger bc they were so easy! i read jaws in 5th grade but i don’t remember the other series i was reading back then. i read the divergent series, twilight, and the hunger games in 6th-7th grade right in the middle of all the hype! i remember kids wearing mockingbird pins to school, lol. i was obsessed with the infernal devices by cassandra clare in middle school and loved the historical fantasy aspect of it (the shadowhunters/city of bones movie was pretty lame and i grew out of the phase by the time the tv show came around). in 8th grade i finally raided my moms book shelf and her stephen king collection and read The Shining (still one of my favorites), which was my first experience reading like “adult” books instead of YA.

if you’ve already mentioned this i’m sorry for asking again, my memory is not great, but do you still find motivation to read now? i know my love of reading has ebbed and waned over the years unfortunately, but i’ve been getting back that spark lately!

omg no idea how i managed to give such a late response AGAIN i'm so sorry i have no excuse except chronic dumbbrain

honestly though? I didn't get into a whole lot of series as a kid. i read the first twilight book in 4th grade (it took me an entire 9 weeks to do it but I got a bunch of AR points for it - if you are unfamiliar with those I do not know how to explain it but will if u ask lol) and I read the hunger games books like.....LATE into their fame. I only got into the movie series because my older sister, who was in the target demographic for both of those at their height, loved them and when my mom took her to the movies she invited me and what, was I gonna say NO to being out at midnight and eating super buttery movie popcorn?? as I type this i am looking at the giant edward button on my bookshelf that I stole from the stuff my sister left when she moved. Twilight has a special place in my heart lol

But other than that and the children's series I mentioned before, I never really got into the big franchises. I never read H*rry P*tter and have only seen one full movie, never got into LoTR, uh.....whatever other ones, I haven't really read...and I mean this in the least hipster way possible lol. There's something about the Expectation to Enjoy and the Always Being Out Of The Zeitgeist So Why Even Try that just shuts down my motivation to get into them LOL.....so really only Twilight and Hunger Games were crazes I was part of and even then I was at an age where I liked them but didn't really care lol

and my mom really loves Stephen King too! I tried to read his books but honestly....I don't like them :/ I respect his achievements I guess but I cannot get interested in his stories. Idk if it's the way he writes or what but I tried getting into them when I needed challenging material...it didn't work! I also tried to read Nicholas Sparks, who was (maybe still is?) my sister's favorite author but GOD. I DO NOT LIKE HIS SHIT EITHER. And this isn't meanspirited at all, more power to their readers! I'm not one to get uppity about writing styles and fave authors, especially ones I haven't even read a full book from. But those are two authors that were always in my house that I never was able to get into

One author I was able to get into? SARAH DESSEN. Technically I've "aged out" of her books (although I'm of the opinion that you can read whatever you want, no shame...like come on bro we're all just trying to have a little fun) but I've always loved her works from the day I first read them. I remember my first book of hers I read! It was "just listen" and while it's not my favorite of hers, it holds a place in my heart just from being the first one I read. I picked it up off my sister's dresser (she's turning up in this ask a lot lol) and asked if I could read it and she just shrugged and didn't seem into it? But I read it and my eyes were WIDE OPEN to the world of YA romance. Oh god. I was in 6th grade and I was like "this is it. this is the pinnacle of literary achievement." I was in 6th grade, so about 12? I think? and now 10 years later I still check to see if she's got anything new out when I'm at Barnes and Noble. I think there are 2-3 of her books I haven't read and a novella. God. I love her books so much, shamelessly. (I have her most recent book, "The Rest of the Story," in my nightstand but I haven't read it yet - I'm getting there!!) I have 7 of her books stacked up on my bookshelf and I want to read them all eventually. My favorite is probably Saint Anything - idk why, it just. It hit me. That one got me. That one and Lock and Key.

LAST ASK YOU ASKED ME WHAT BOOK I WISH I COULD REREAD FOR THE FIRST TIME? Lock and Key and The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. I felt like such a badass having those thick ass books on my desk in 6th grade, UGH. I can't believe I forgot that feeling. But i remember now babyyyyy

All this to say I actually...........still don't like most adult writing LOL. I have TRIED to get into contemporary adult writing but most of the time it does NOT scrath that itch. I think I have a few books that would fall under that category that I still need to read and i'm SO OPEN to this changing about me, but I'm honestly still in my little YA corner. The problem with that, though, is that it's definitely not as enjoyable to read, or not in the same way, because I have grown up. And that's not to fault the books at all, not their fault the passage of time exists, but when I was younger I was still looking forward to high school. I'm fortunate where my high school experience wasn't anything I'm particularly jaded by, but I'm a big girl now. The dramatics of these fake teen girls definitely translate to me as, well...dramatic more than anything. Again, that's not BAD and I'm not bashing YA! It's just weird to read these books from the pov that "this is definitely a fiction story (in my lifetime)" as opposed to the 6th grade view of "this is a range of emotions I could technically feel in 3 years." Not that I didn't know it was fiction back then, but come on, who didn't romanticize high school a little bit before they got there? I definitely did.

I am...currently trying to get my bookworm status back, actually! I've gotta be honest, once I hit high school I was so tired of reading textbooks and screens that I stopped reading as much as I used to and it stayed pretty stagnant until my senior year. I took a class that was called "fact and fiction" but it was basically like a book club led by the two best teachers in school. Most of the time we'd read classics as a class, but sometimes they'd have us break off and do our own thing like "read a book that's on the NYT Bestseller's list this month" or "read a book that's been banned" or "read and american classic" - this class is how I found out that The Jungle is actually pretty solid in entertainment value if not a bit hard to get through language wise, Slaughterhouse Five is what I say my favorite book is when i want to sound smart and it is SO GOOD (and I could go on about how it's totally a representation of the author's PTSD but that's a story for a different day), and i absolutely DESPISE The Turn of the Screw. Cool concept, absolute HELL to get through. So that class got me reading again, but then I went to college and then covid hit and I've had some Life Happening To Me and I kinda fell out of the practice again. I'm on book 3 of this year - 12 year old me would be horrified, but 20 year old me is bouncing in her seat - and unfortunately my first two attemtps were...not that great?

The first book I read was called The Warlow Experiment by Alix Nathan and it was one of THE WORST books I've ever read. I thought it'd be some thrilling kind of psychological-experiment-gone-wrong story, but the author somehow took what sounds like it could be thrilling fiction and made it the most BORING story ever. (SPOILERS if u care) It took forever for me to feel like there was ever anything at stake - John Warlow is getting restless? Well, the experiment ends in seven years. Powyss has to prove the worth of his experiment? We won't know if he does that for seven years. Powyss starts an affair with Warlow's wife? Man, too bad we have to wait SEVEN YEARS FOR THE CONFLICT TO HAPPEN. Every character except for Hannah (Warlow's wife) was just like the Worst Possible Version of themselves. You know how a farce is a play where characters are usually one-dimensional with their worst trait exaggerated? THAT'S WHAT THIS FELT LIKE. A LITERAL FARCE. It took me two months to get through that book and I want to burn it. It was so, so awful and burned me out.

Recently I started Tell Me Three Things but Julie Buxbaum, and it was sweet! It was easy to read and wasn't anything spectacularly unique, but it was good and wasn't a chore to get through. I laughed at one (1) thing at the end, and even if it was a bit cheesy, I loved the relationships Jessie had with her friends and stepbrother. Those felt really real, even if they were a bit more wholesome than some relationships tend to be. However, this one has the misfortune of being the first YA book I've read since exiting the YA demographic, so the whole time I read it, I was thinking "wow i should've read this book when I got it. It would've been so much better." Not the fault of the book/author of course, and it was still good. Just nothing I'd report home to.

BUT. NOW I'M ON BOOK THREE. I JUST STARTED IT AND I ALREADY LOVE IT. It's called The House in the Cerulean Sea bu TJ Klune and it's got my attention. I used to think I didn't like fantasy, but this one might change my mind. One of the reviews on the book calls it a mashup of 1984 and The Umbrella Academy and even though I only know summaries of those things (I skipped junior/senior english to take college english so there's a lot fo required reading i was actually not required to do. The Great Gatsby? Still have no idea what a Gatsby is (just kidding i know it's the guy)), I AGREE. I'm only 48 pages in out of 398 but WHOO. I love this author's writing style, it reminds me a lot of what I want to embody when I'm not trying to be super serious (keyword trying, not sure if I have ever actually succeeded in either of these lol), I love that the main character is Just Some Guy, i love the way he describes his cat - I'll send a pic in one sec!

The book is so charming and has such personality and such a good premise that I'm so excited to continue reading it for real. Look at that!!! UGH IDK HOW TO DESCRIBE HOW THIS BOOK MAKES ME FEEL BUT THIS GUY GETS IT! Also I hear....this book may be gay? 👀 love me some representation (if it's there - if any u spoil this for me i will commit a crime) Also this book is classified as "adult young adult" and idk for sure what that is but it is RIGHT up my alley. More of this please.

So I'm still in a writing slump that has lasted...almost 8 years with like. One bout of clarity in the middle lol. I've always had a passion for the books I've read and the idea of books, but reading them had become a chore that I could never get to on my list. ‘Politics and gender roles’ is just gay as is ‘got swept away in the grey’ i.e Dianna retreated from the ‘colourful’ world she created in a relationship with a woman and perhaps got together with a man

‘Does it feel like everything’s just like second best after that meteor strike’ directly parallels ‘you search the world for something else to make you feel like what we had’ in Wonderland

cop out answer but 1. my mom and my sister but like truly I do not think I would be anywhere near the person I am today without them. and when I had nobody (often) I always had them god bless 2. pinterest. just everything about it. it inspired me to join tumblr. It shaped my humor. it taught me to cook. it kept me busy. it raised me more than my father. no joke. 3. I didn’t want to have another person answer but my oldest and dearest friend [readcted] she’s like a year and a half older than me and we grew up three houses down from one another and hung out all the time and I cannot recall a time in my life when I didn’t look up to her. she was always such an inspiration to be the most confident and real version of myself. I don’t see her as much anymore bc college but to this day when I’m worried I said something horrible I always ask myself “what would [redacted] think if she heard I said that?” And it’s not even like I’m putting her up on a pedestal she really is just one of the most amazing human beings I’ve ever met in my life

oh my god yeah. I used to consider myself a logical person in like middle school and I look back at that and I’m like what the hell were you talking about. I make every decision with my heart and honestly like half the time I feel like my emotions are so big they could explode out of my body. lol.

aliens yes absolutely. they’re out there and they’re so real. they are the teeniest tiniest bacteria ever and little green men and beings as big as the moon i truly to believe that. ghosts? no unless I get literally thrown across a room.

What if a security guard wouldn’t let you back in the arena if you went out to get something. And they didn’t believe that you were harrys gf and just thought you were a crazy fan

oooh it’s been done before but here’s my version!! ;

You were running late.

It was already 7pm and you were only getting out of your car in the car park. Harry was due to be on stage in an hour and you hadn’t even seen him yet. The traffic around Dallas today has been awful. Chocker block. You’d been with Harry all day, up until 3 hours ago when he had to leave the hotel to come to the stadium for rehearsals. Normally you’d go with him, but you were so tired that you wanted a little nap before coming. The problem here was you overslept.

There were no Ubers available and a taxi would be far too expensive at this time, so you drive in Harrys car instead. You’d been following Harry on tour in his car, so when you get to different destinations you can go out on ball day trips if you want to without the obscenity of a huge tour bus or paying for Ubers everywhere. It was the main reason you were so tired though, travelling across country and into different time zones. It would be so much easier if this was the UK.

You grabbed your purse and your jacket, locking the car as you got out and started running for the backstage entrance. It was easy to make it there and you noticed security guards already standing there.

“Hi!” You smiled, slightly short of breathe. You were about to move past them when one of them shoved your shoulder back, making you stumble back unbalanced. “Wha—”

“ID and backstage pass to get through here.” One of them said, looking you up and down as if you were nothing.

If anything, you were quite shocked on how they just treated and continued to treat you. Normally, Harry would show a picture of you to these backstage security guards to make sure you’d be able to get in no problem, but it seemed like today Harry might’ve forgotten to show that photo. This was going to be a problem for you, because you’d forgotten to bring your backstage pass.

“I normally just go through? I’m Harry’s girlfriend.” You tried talking your way around the situation, not appreciating behind held up so close to show-time.

“Oh you’re Harry’s girlfriend? You must be the 7th one we’ve met tonight.” The security guy laughed and so did his friend, making your blood boil with how annoying they were being. Harry would be so pissed if he heard the way they were treating you.

“No but I actually am.”

“Then, ID and backstage passes.” One of then held out his hand whilst the other crossed his arms over his chest to make him look intimidating. Dickheads.

“I have ID just not the backstage passes.” You answered honestly, holding out your ID for them to check. They collected it and asked you questions on it, you answering them all perfectly.

“Well you definitely know you, but you have no proof you’re supposed to be where you claim to be.” They handed you back your ID and you huffed in stress.

“Well what can I show you? Photos of me and Harry together? Text messages?” You waved your arms around, getting really pissed off that this was actually happening. You’d probably miss Jenny’s whole set because of this and then 15 minutes before show-time Harry gets transported under the stage. So you only really would have half and hour with him, and that’s just not enough time. You wanted a safe and warm hug off him. You wanted a kiss. You just wanted him.

“Everyone knows they can be photoshopped.” One of the guys scoffs at your notion.

“Listen. You either show us your backstage pass or we’ll escort you off site.” The other one says a lot more firmer this time. It made you quite anxious for what you’d do if they did that - or maybe when they did that.

“Well I don’t have the backstage passes.” You sighed, rolling your eyes at the way this was going to end.

“Then let’s go.” One of them pointed to where you came from and to the car park, stepping forwards as he did so.

“I’m not leaving until you let me through those doors. My boyfriend is waiting for me.” You answered, taking a step back in stress of what they might do.

“Harry ain’t your boyfriend. Now let’s go!” They stepped forwards again and reached for you.

You swung your bag at one of them, hitting him in his side and he grunted because of the impact of your water bottle with his chest. The other one grabbed your arm and you couldn’t shake him, since you were not trained in any way for situations like this at all. His fingers dig into your skin and it made you scream out a cry, trying to kick him in any way to escape. The other one recovered ever ordered the guy holding you to escort you away whilst he stayed and guarded the door. The one holding you tugged your arms behind your body and held them tight there, it really fucking hurting. He didn’t care though and continued to walk you, asking you where your car was so he could get you out of here.

Once you reached your car he let you go and you wrapped your arms around you as he walked away again, not verbally saying anything but his eyes saying enough. Stay away. You shakily got your keys out of your bags and unlocked your door, climbing in and just sitting there. You could feel your hands really shaky and achy. Looking down with tear clouded eyes, you saw the red marks over your arms and slight bruising already. Your arms and shoulders hurt from being bent in an uncomfortable position.

You cared less about the pain though and how much of a disappointment of a girlfriend you were going to be to Harry. He was going to think either the worst for you or the worst of you. You reached in your bag on your lap for your phone, throwing your bag on the seat next to you afterwards. You wiped your eyes with the sleeve of your t-shirt and unlocked your phone to text messages, sending Harry a quick text.

To Harry: Are you free to call? x

No response. You sat there for a few minutes in silence, still shook up and teary. That had been a really awful situation to be in and you hated that you were nowhere near Harry to fix it. Your phone vibrated 3 minutes later, finding a text message from Harry. You sighed and felt safe when you saw his icon light up your notifications, knowing he was in contact with you.

From Harry: Of course, you okay? xx

You didn’t open your phone because you didn’t know how to respond. How do you tell him you’re not okay, only 20 minutes before he’s meant to be ready to go on stage? You didn’t want to worry him, but you also didn’t want him thinking you were a terrible girlfriend either.

Another vibration.

From Harry: Lovie? xx

Your eyes watered at that simple word, meaning so much more to you than five letters. It made you feel so much comfort, you only wished you could get that hug and a kiss now.

Again.

From Harry: Love, you’re worrying me now.

From Harry: Let me face-time you, hang on.

His icon lit up the screen; Incoming…

You shakily accepted, wiping your eyes quickly before. When he answered you could tell he was still in his dressing room, sat on the sofa that you wish you were also sat on with him. He looked so beautiful. His hair was perfectly styled and he was wearing a pearl coloured silk shirt and you knew he was wearing white silk pants to co-ordinate. You thought he looked ethereal. A glowing beacon of hope and beauty.

He didn’t say anything to you at first and you nothing to him. He just looked at you and instantly knew something bad was up. He kept eye contact with you and it was as if he was having a telepathic conversation with you, understanding that you needed him and just him.

“Hey, Mitch man?” Harry asked, turning his head to somewhere else in the room. “Could y’just give me a minute. Please.”

“Sure, sure.” Mitch answered and all you could hear was the sound of shuffling and the door shut. As soon as he was gone you started crying all over again. You cupped your hand over your eyes and your body shook as you just cried. Harrys heart broke that you were alone and he couldn’t hug you close to his chest.

“Y/N, baby. Look at me.” He asked urgently and you just shook your head, embarrassed that this was happening to you. “You’ll be alright lovie, I promise. Just look at me, beautiful.” You moved your hand away from your face and wiped your eyes and nose to try and make you look slightly better - not that it helped. “There’s my pretty girl.”

You smiled. He smiled.

“I-i’m so-rry H.” You whispered, sniffling in between words because of how shaky you felt.

“Hey, no. None of that. It’ll be okay.” He reassured you, keeping eye contact with you to try and decipher what was wrong. “Where are you, lovie? You’re in the car, yeah?” Harry asked, recognising your surroundings but you could get anywhere. You could have been in an accident for all he knew, but he was remaining calm so he didn’t send you into a panic.

“Yeah. In the stadium car park.” You saw Harrys eyes momentarily light up at that, before he remembered that you weren’t okay.

“Okay. Tell me why you’re upset, love. Help me understand.” He sounded urgent, just wanting to know so he could help you out. He wanted you to be okay. He wanted you with him.

“The security guards wouldn’t let me in, backstage I mean. I didn’t have my backstage pass. But..” You choked on a sob and Harry told you to just breathe. You were okay. “One of them g-grabbed me and escorted m-me of sight.”

“Baby, are you hurt? Is that why you’re upset?” Harry asked, standing up now in panic. His face looked angry, but you could tell he was trying his best to be a comfort for you. “Y/N?”

“Y-yes. Yes Harry, yes.” You voice wobbled out and you let out an exasperated sob. “I’m s-sor—”

“No don’t you dare. Don’t apologise for this. Not ever. You understand me?” He made very clear he wasn’t messing around.

“Yes.” You nodded.

“Alright. Now, you gotta be strong for me okay?” He asked, before asking, still checking that you were okay. He knew you would be though, because you were his bravest girl ever - stronger than you knew.

“Okay.”

“You’re going to make your way back to the backstage entrance, alright? I am going to be there, before you get there. Those security guards won’t be there I promise. You’ll be okay. Can you do that for me?” He asked, moving around the room and then out of the door. He was walking down the corridors, ignoring the people shouting his name. He was only focused on you.

“Yes. Okay.” You nodded, wiping under your nose again.

“I love you.” He kissed the camera of his phone, looking like he was kissing you instead.

You returned the gesture, kissing him virtually back. “I love you.”

He told you that it’d be alright and then ended the call, explaining how you didn’t need to hear him get angry when he found these security guards. They would be fired even if they weren’t on his tour crew, he’d make sure of it. You made your way back to the backstage entrance again, slowing down before you rounded the corner. Taking a deep breathe you walked around and were met with exactly what Harry promised; him.

You smiled and broke out into a run to get to him, your bag weighing on your shoulder. Once you reached him your bag was thrown on the floor in front of him and you jumped into his arms. He lifted you up to sit you around his waist, keeping his arms tight around your waist and squeezing the biggest hug out of you. Your arms tightened around your boyfriends neck and you buried your face into his neck, and god he smelt like everything homely and sweet. He felt just like home.

“See, you’re alright now lovie.” He assured you, kissing your cheek that wasn’t quite buried into his neck.

“Th-ank you.” You muttered, kissing his neck in appreciation which made him hum in delight. He tasted so hot and lush. He was insatiable. You then felt him start kissing your arms, where the harsh red and purple marks were.

“Sorry y’had to go through this.” He kept kissing your arms, until you moved your head up and looked at him with furrowed eyebrows.

“If I can’t say sorry, then neither can you.” You shook your head, kissing his nose softly. You watched his eyes flutter close and felt so special that only you could do that to him.

“You’re so amazing Y/N. Truly.”

“You’re pretty special too, my love.”

He didn’t need to hear anything else from you, those words were enough, so he pressed his lips to yours softly, filling you with the love you’d been waiting to feel all day. You smiled into the kiss and he just felt so amazing. He was so soft and gentle with you - as smooth as the silk that dressed his body. He was so pretty to watch melt away under your spell and delicious tasting. Strawberries, was that?

He was everywhere. He was everything. He always would be.

Hélène Pambrun: HS Tour Photos📸

In light of the announcement that Hélène won’t be touring with Harry and the fact that a bunch of people despise her photos, I, as a photographer, am going to do an analysis...

(And when I say ‘I'm a photographer’ I mean I went to college for this, not that I take pictures with my iPhone haha)

1. This is a pretty basic portrait. He's leaning on a rock staring pensively into the camera. The monochrome coloring works okay if she was going for a melancholy feeling for the photo. It's a nice pic.

2. I for the life of me do not understand why he's cropped all the way in the corner when the photo is supposed to be showcasing him. I mean there's rule-of-thirds and then there's taking photos of just smoke and lights. I'm not wowed.

3. I like the coloring of this one. The orange in the sky looks nice with his turquoise pants. Casual candid photo correctly utilizing rule-of-thirds. Not too bad.

4. I can't even find Harry in this photo. She's photobombing taking a basic mirror pic, meanwhile there's so much going on I can't even find who is supposed to be the main subject.

5. I like this one and think it fits well with the aesthetic of the TPWK music video. It's pretty nice.

6. If she's supposed to be his photographer I don't understand why she's photobombing the pic. Photographers are supposed to stay behind the camera. It's in the job description😂

7. This...this is unfortunate timing. If I took this photo I would not have it up as one of the first on my website, but to each their own.

8. This however, is better timing. Classic whale-rry. Coloring is nice. The pic is solely focussed on him (as it should be). Much better than others.

9. I like the colors of the background with his shirt. But he’s just standing in front of a wall. He’s not even smiling. For the second time: not wowed.

10. This is a better one. He's smiling and dimply. I think it could've been edited better tho. Seems a bit dark for my taste (and also H's sunny smile).

This is going to get long so...

11. Again photobomb. Not really sure what pose this is that Harry’s doing either.

12. Just...why? He’s half covered up, so what’s the point? 

13. Again bad timing and unflattering face for Harry. Don’t understand why you would post it under those circumstances. 

14. Backside of Harry surrounded by smoke. Like come on. Where’s the emotion? People’s backs do not show expression.

15. Ok, all her other pics did not have me prepared for this one. This is a really cool effect and looks awesome. This is definitely one of her most elite photos.

18. The blurry thing in the left bottom foreground of this image bothers me. It’s distracting me from Harry.

20. I’m sorry…is he DYING?? What even is this? 

21. This is a very cute and creative photo. It also has good colors. Very much a retro feel. 

22. This is more of what I expected her stage photography to be like. This is a nice photo and again, good colors.

23. This is one of her best. It’s a cool angle and good use of reflection. (Although, is that her finger over the lens in the top right?)

24. Her group pics generally aren’t bad. They’re just all the same. Five people standing in a row in front of some wall. Not exciting but not necessarily “bad”.

25. I am forever amazed by the pics that get chosen to post. Just..why? It makes it seem like this was the best picture she took of the whole concert and if that’s true, that’s just sad. 

26. He’s just a cute precious baby. Good capture on her part.

27. He looks like he just smelled cauliflower cooking. Again, I don’t understand why it was posted.

28. This one is a bit more interesting and a bit more edgy. It’s a completely different style than the other pics though. When you’re documenting something the photos should have cohesion.

29. Is this even Harry Styles? The world shall never know.

30. Did anyone notice how blurry and out of focus this was before they posted it? No? Just me?

Well I think that thirty example photographs more than covers Hélène’s work.

To sum this all up:

Is she a good photographer? This depends on the perspective of the person viewing her work. I personally think she might’ve only been hired because she’s worked with other artists. Ultimately, some will like her work and some will hate it. Personally, it is not to my taste. She has a few gems in there, but if I were Harry, those wouldn’t warrant me keeping her on as my tour photographer.

If Harry had continued using her on his tours, I would have inferred that he was happy with her work and liked it. However, now that she has announced she’s not touring with him anymore maybe this is Harry’s silent agreement with us fans that her work was not up to snuff. 

(PS: I am not here to tell y'all how to view her pictures. I am simply giving my honest photographer’s point of view on her work. And if you’ve made it this far, I appreciate you sticking with me for all this!)

I don’t know a whole lot about the Billie Eye lash stuff, but if she just got in trouble for dancing with other women and saying “I love girls” then surely we have the same energy for H*rry Styles? Or are we just hating women right now?

I know it shouldn’t matter but I do get annoyed when people act like Zayn and Harry were the closest friends/whatever. I’m not even saying they didn’t have close times because I am sure they did, but there seem to be quite a lot of people who make H*rry the favorite of everyone in the band and that just doesn’t seem to be the case, especially not when you see how the boys interacted with Louis. Even barring Louis, although I don’t see how you can especially when it comes to Zayn considering how Zayn spoke about Louis and how much time they legitimately spent together while they were in 1D, this painted narrative of a ‘H*rry who-is-everyone’s-favourite-always-so-this-is-why-you-should-love-him Styles’ just presents as so untrue. Celebrities love H*rry, or at least love his money/power/whatever, but this re-writing of 1D history is just irritating. Louis, Zayn, Liam and Niall were all very close as well, probably having moments where some were closer than others, and even the ones who seemed the closest to H*rry in terms of how they interacted were once Louis and then Niall. H*rry seemed disconnected from 1D long before the hiatus and was definitely being set up as the breakout star of 1D, and annoyed at having to be in a band where the other boys sang too, and I just don’t like this re-writing of history. It certainly hasn’t helped Zayn, Louis, Liam or Niall - any solo success they have just generates surprise, or bad reviews particularly in the case of Louis and Liam; and vitriol from H*rries, including industry H*rries, who are threatened by any of the others having success/having fans. I hate reading any reviews of Walls so I don’t anymore because I always end up thinking: ‘Were you even listening to the same album I did?’ and then there are reviews who criticise Louis’ lyrics but they liked the lyrics of 1D songs, and most of them after the first two albums had Louis writing on them, and Liam even said that Louis was more of the lyrics person. Louis’ lyrics are lovely and interesting and complex, and the reception to Walls just angers me so much. I just hate this perception and re-writing of history, and I don’t get it and I am sorry this got so long. It’s just things I have noticed that really annoy me.

I admit some of Louis’ lyrics are corny (I guess some queens don’t need a crown), but what angered me were people questioning his sentiments for Jay in Two of Us? I get that they want to hype up Harry, but my God, comparing the lyrics of Two of Us unfavorably to Watermelon Sugar is not it. Industry fangirls and fanboys are the fucking worst.

As for Zayn and Harry… Jesus. I guarantee you there is no love lost from Zayn, 300%. Listen to Zayn’s lyrics in general, and Cathartic, and you’ll understand exactly the type of player Zayn despises. Zayn faced racism and islamophobia and no one defended him, and in contrast, Harry kissed up to the most powerful people in the business.
