Uuuh I just checked my followers here and found a literal Nazi and some Terfs so just a not so friendly reminder
FUCK NAZIS
FUCK TERFS
I support all Jewish and trans people. They have my love and I’ll never stop fighting for their right to live freely and happily.
I have zero tolerance for bigotry of any kind and if that makes you uncomfortable then unfollow me and fuck you
If I accidentally reblog some homebrew that is offensive - please tell me. I always want to learn and grow and I want everyone (except bigots) to feel welcome here
To all my trans siblings, Jewish friends, and poc that follow me, I love you and I hope you have an amazing day <3

As much as I want to engage with ideas in good faith I can’t comprehend why someone would argue “what’s happening in Gaza is bad but it’s not genocide/apartheid” or “Zionism means different things to some people so it’s wrong to condemn it as a whole” or “stop saying from the river to the sea” that isn’t just to take away language from Palestinians to express their opposition to oppression- to the death toll and displacement and all of the horrific cruel things Palestinians have been targeted with. When I try to understand people who are sympathetic to Israel (but maintain they are critical of the “corrupt government officials”) all I see is tone policing a group of people who are seldom given a voice by those in power. & while there are people who point out that there is a tendency for the left to tokenize certain Jewish activist groups that are critical of Israel, I see the same people tokenize “good” Palestinian protesters in a way that is extremely disturbing to me all things considered.

wish more people on the internet could understand that it is totally possible to be pro-palestine without being anti-semitic, perpetuating anti-semitic stereotypes/conspiracy theories, or bending over backwards to justify the anti-semitism of others. just seeing some very nasty things circulating

I highly recommend watching “The Zone of Interest” if you get the chance. It is a very moving holocaust film that focuses on the complacency and complicity of the white middle class in Germany at the time, and the father even actively working for the nazi party. It was nominated for best picture and rightly so!
It should cause you to ask yourself these questions (especially if you are a white middle class person from a nuclear family who might not be politically active) ……
In what ways am I complicit? In what ways am I looking the other way and ignoring atrocities in my own back yard for the sake of my comfort and my lifestyle?
Even if you are someone slightly less privileged than the white middle class, in what ways might ANY of us be contributing to an oppressive system for the sake of our families, careers, reputations, etc? It definitely makes me feel convicted for not doing more.
I should also note that you don’t technically directly see any violence in this movie. You can hear the muffled cries of the victims in the background and see the smokestacks from the gas chambers through a window, but it shows how sanitized and removed the atrocities were from the rest of society and other people’s everyday lives.

Genuinely wondering what goes through peoples brains when they even attempt to defend Israel right now. If you’re a genocidal maniac at least admit it upfront instead of jumping through hoops and projecting until your argument even slight makes coherent sense.
Honestly fuck you if you are willing to compare the Hamas to the IOF,, now isn’t a time to pick apart ‘both sides’ for their wrongs, now is a time to recognize the importance of the phrase “by any means necessary” and stand by what for many years us leftist have fought for. We can spend time criticizing later, now is crucial in action and not in arguing. I agree whole heartedly that innocent people shouldn’t be killed but god will I not let the necessary evils of trying for freedom EVER deter me.
The day will come and go when we stand here and go back and forth about the ethics behind our fight for any resemblance of freedom, while the real fighters out there are doing the work that needs to be done. I always hoped that when genocide was so obviously put in front of our faces that we would stand up for the people being terrorized but here we are, a vast majority gripes on the deaths of Israeli civilians, whilst ignoring the ever-increasing number of Palestinians that are dying at this very moment. Yet again we are stuck in a loop of defense of the oppressors.
Again, If you even for one second try to defend genocide, you yourself are playing a part in that genocide. Say it as it is. Don’t make up excuses. You have the blood of Palestinians staining your hands, no amount of counter-blame can ever wash it off. I hope you are tormented by the thought of thousands of innocent people dying and your willingness to write it off. Maybe one day youll see how wrong you were, but by then, it’ll be too late, they’re basic necessities are being cut off, they’re homes being demolished or taken away, they’re lives being taken every 90 seconds right now. This is a genocide RIGHT NOW. Be tactful and just know that you will never be a comrade of mine.

I js to want to say as a jewish person…being anti-Zionist is NOT anti-Semitic. ALSO u can be non-palestinian or non-jewish and still understand that both groups are inherently human and that pitting them against each other isn’t gonna do shit to stop the israeli government or hamas. AND js because something isn’t happening to u or ur country doesn’t mean u have to completely lack remorse.
IF UR HUMAN PLS SIGN THIS:

Anti-Zionism IS anti-Semitism. Zionist means someone who wants Jewish people to have a place to live, so by definition, if you’re anti-Zionist, you’re saying Jews don’t deserve a place to live. That’s anti-Semitism, just because Israel may be a genocidal state where everyone must think that all Palestinians should die (which is what a lot of you believe) doesn’t make it okay. When you say “from the river to the sea”, you want Israel to disappear. So you want millions of people to be displaced in Israel because poor Palestine, they didn’t do anything wrong, Israel is evil and should die? Also you shouldn’t have a moral high ground if you say the word “genociding”, BECAUSE THAT IS NOT A WORD!

Some of you need to realize that yeah, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, but that doesn’t mean be completely thoughtless, y’know? I don’t use places like Walmart unless I absolutely have to. As in: no other options. I use Amazon too much but as the years go by, I’ve realized it is getting harder and harder to avoid them entirely. I don’t like meat but even if I fucking loved the homophobic chicken, I have other options in my area to choose from, so I will. It means doing the least amount of damage you can with the knowledge and morals, I guess, that you have. Don’t buy the anti semitic game. Don’t hand Jeff Bezos money when you see him on the street. Don’t kick puppies. Be thoughtful. Try. No one can be perfect but I know you can try.

I don’t even know if I have the patience to trust the newspaper anymore because they’re all too easy to not fact check basic information or their journalistic integrity is forgotten for clicks. Twitter, while still a hot mess 78% of the time, does have people who are in the thick of the news with video to backup their claims and shockingly accurate reports.
So eh 🤷🏿‍♀️
That wasn’t a “convince Lauren to return to fascist, far right misinformation bastion, Twitter” post, it was a “tell Lauren where you get reputable news besides Twitter” post.
Now that I’ve clarified that, if you have an answer, please feel free to return!

Manufactured racial controversy alert 🙄:
“The Atlantic” used this photo in their article covering a Christian show about the life of Jesus. This photo was taken outdoors on a bright day and some of the actors skin looks a bit lighter because of the bright natural lighting.
Tumblr media
However the cast of this show is more racially diverse than this picture above implies. The comments section was full of trolls and bots accusing POC of being white when they are not 🙄.
Here are some more accurate looking cast photos with better lighting that better shows their skin.

The show DID make a point to cast middle eastern and Jewish and Black actors. Many POC can be lighter skinned and it doesn’t change their race or make them “white”. 🙄
Tumblr media
I work with several Egyptian people and yes some of them have lighter skin than others and that’s ok! Many people are mixed race and that doesn’t make them fully “white” 🙄 I have also met many lighter skinned Latin Americans and native Americans who would probably look like that under that sunlight.
Tumblr media
The characters are supposed to be mostly Jewish and the Jewish community is very diverse and they don’t all have the same skin and that’s ok!
Don’t fall for trolls and bots trying to manufacture outrage and false divisions and controversy. Also don’t call people “white” when they are not!
Yes, racism and white washing are still a big problem in the television industry! Yes, racism is still a problem in the American evangelical church and in many Christian communities throughout history! I absolutely agree that many depictions of Jesus have been a bit “white washed”. I’m NOT here to excuse racism!
I just don’t think that applies to this show in particular in my opinion. This is one of the few portrayals of Jesus that isn’t white washed and some people can’t appreciate that because they are falling for fake outrage because of a bad picture.
It’s taking a LOT of self control for me to not feed the trolls and get into a comment section argument right now in this Atlantic article. 🙄
Imagine looking these Arabic and Semitic men in the face and saying “you are white because you sat in bright sunlight once”. 🙄
