Dollbot Box Opening

Doll nudity warning!

So my Dollbot body finally arrived. I had the head for a bit but was unable to retrieve it until recently, which made me decide to buy the body as well. Here's the head box on top of the box the body arrived in. Now let's get started on opening the box.

I was surprised to see the body's box being the same reflective material as that of the head. Honestly, I don't know what I was expecting. The bubble wrap was packaged really neatly, and the body lay nestled between a layer of bubble wrap and plastic inside the box.

My first impressions of the body is how soft it was; I think it's the softest of my large vinyl dolls, with Imomodoll being the hardest, Dollfie Dream in the middle, and Dollbot being the softest. It surprised me, and I was really worried about accidentally denting or staining the body. The joints are similar to other vinyl dolls, but there's still a learning curve, as I noticed my doll's joints didn't move as I twisted a part, but the part I was twisting rotated to the direction I wanted. I really like seeing different construction types like this though.

Some side and back shots. Curvier than MDD and more detailed than female 1/4 Imomodoll bodies.

Here's the head peg system. You take off the top part and then stick it through the neck hold and then put the top part back on, which keeps the head in place.

The body is pretty fun and it does look good, but my doll's leg kept dropping off. It felt looser than the other joints, and I don't know what's causing it, but it does mostly stay in place. I think I may need to mod this joint so it'll stop falling out. It's an issue with most of the vinyl dolls I owned, with all of them having that one weak joint. (Candy is her arms, Lance is his left hand, and Giski is his left leg)

Here's a photo of her with my Imomodoll and my Dollfie Dream. Her head seems really big compared to the other two, while also having a curvier and shorter body.

The eyes are also massive, for even my 20mm eyes look small with her. I don't like really large irises and I think this effect with this eye is actually a bit closer to how I would like her character however so this works out.

And that's it for now. I really like my Dollbot and since I now have the body, I look forward to making her dress. It's going to be a long process though, since I need to properly learn how to draft, drape, and make patterns. I hope I can post more of her or her progress at least.

Finally unboxed Day in the park Draculaura! Bought her early in October and didn’t inbox her cause I don’t have much room and was waiting to get a new shelf before I would unbox her (I was soooo bored so that’s why she’s unboxed lol)

She’s super adorable and I really love this cute little playset. The doll is simple but that makes sense since she’s just going to the park and I think she’s super adorable along with the pets. The dress is freaking cute and the pets have glasses (along with Draculaura) and more than enough food for them to enjoy. She also has her icoffin and possibly is calling Clawd. I like to think that she’s pet sitting for Clawd 👀

She’s sold for $30 but managed to get her for $20 at Marshall’s and I believe she’s only sold in those kind of stores (TJMaxx, Kohls, Marshals etc) but I can be wrong, especially in different countries. The only downside to this set is Draculaura’s poly hair. I’m really disappointed that they used poly, especially since they’ve used this blend before with saran so I’m baffled as to why they used poly. Cheap ass.

Other than that, she’s very cute and I do highly recommend her!

Unboxing: Toymazing "Rock Star" Career Doll

On the Family Dollar trip where I found the fashion pack with flat shoes (that fit only Stacie), I was captivated by our friend here. It's partly the rounder head, partly the yellow eyes, and partly that DJ turntable. Even if I zap it with some paint to be a more real-world color, that's still less effort than building something like that from scratch.

The box indicates that the blonde also comes as a doctor (which I saw at Family Dollar) and a teacher (which I haven't). I would swear I've seen an African-American version at a different Family Dollar, and the official site confirms I'm not hallucinating fashion dolls. I'm not crazy about the face-up or skin tone on the AA gals. Usually near the bottom end of the market, the AA dolls have less of a cheap-plastic glow than the Caucasian ones, but these particular gals have an unhealthy green-gray undertone in person.

This gal... she needs a name. Okay, it's 2023. She strikes me as being about 17, or born in 2006. Go to Social Security Baby Names and... Emma. She looks like an Emma. (Of course, if you were in kindergarten in 2011, half your class looked like an Emma.) In her DJ role, she calls herself M-Ah!

Emma has the worst body I've ever encountered on a clone, and that includes the half-assed dollar-bag K-Mart Monster High clone that was just a blue doll with white hair, with skin so thin that if you held her too tight she dented.

Denting is not Emma's problem. Her plastic is hard, even though she's very light. Stability is Emma's problem.

Emma has ball-jointed hips, which would be awesome if the joints weren't so loose that she can't stand on her own and barely manages it with the help of a stand.

No matter what I do, she flops around.

Here we take a brief pause to contemplate that her eyes really are YELLOW.

I thought I'd try some Barbie and Barbie-adjacent clothing on Emma to see if that might stabilize her stance.

She's ready for the Grammy Awards but still not standing well. However, she's ready to perform her big hit.

The guitar is very light and hollow, as is the DJ stand. However, there is a lot of detail, and I own or have access to a lot of paint. I feel really good about that DJ stand.

The boots that come with her set don't fit on her feet. I'd been rummaging through my Barbie-shoe box when I realized that her sandals are apparently inspired by Monster High, as they are ultra-detailed and pretty cool.

Emma's rooting is surprisingly un-bad. It's not as thick as you'd find on a brand-name fashion doll, but it doesn't include a massive bald spot.

Emma can't wear an evening gown everywhere, so maybe jeans? Or maybe not. It turns out that, although she looks about the same "thin" as a middle-of-the-road fashion doll, she has too much booty for a lot of Sparkle Girlz rompers from the 2010s.

I squoze her into a jumpsuit, but it's not a great fit. So it's off to AliExpress to find an articulated body to match her skin tone, so Emma can play her own guitar.

I got a new doll today. She's Daisy from the Be Kind line by Jada Toys. She's made out of recycled materials, and comes with a craft kit. She's not perfect, but she's full of potential! She stands on her own when wearing her shoes, and she has great articulation. I'm very inspired to customize her and make things for her! But most of my dollies have girlfriends. Who will be her girlfriend? I don't know yet... Little is known about these characters. There are 6 characters to collect, not including the little sisters. Will I collect them all? We'll see.

I decided I couldn't turn down these cute BJD blind boxes from Simons Toys (the box calls them Simon's Club Dolls). I really wanted the strawberry girl, but the peach girl was my second favorite so I count myself very lucky!!

The card on the left is actually a little dress-up card, the clothes are all paper-doll style stickers. I think this is a really cute extra to include with the doll. I'll probably display it somewhere ❤️

I was delighted to find her body is actually strung with elastic, I hadn't really thought a doll that was less than $30 would be constructed that way. She holds her poses well, and she even comes with a LOT of extra hand poses! (sorry, I forgot to take a picture before putting them away).

Over all I really am in love with this cutie! I immediately want to buy another one :'))
