“Lix, baby…” You sweetly said his name, staggering back a little as you both walked through the store. He was going there to simply get new headphones for his computer and of course he wanted you to tag along with him, but you always got sidetracked when passing the baby aisle, and this time you weren’t longingly looking at the booties or the onesies… You had a tiny little plan forming in your head. 

“Hmm? What is it, angel?” He responded back just as sweet, his freckled cheeks lifting and his eyes squinting as he looked at you, his smile wide yet slightly bashful. “What’re ya doin?” He quizzed, eyeing you with full interest now as you held up two different pairs of newborn footie pajamas. 

“Which one do you like more? This one…?” You held up a green pair that was printed with frogs and little lily pads. “Or this one?” The other pair was a pale yellow with a small embroidered duck at the top. “Only three seconds to choose one though, come on!” You chimed, trying to make it more like a game so he wouldn’t get an idea of what was happening just yet. 

“Ahhhh…” His eyes wavered back and forth between the little sets before his finger shot forwards to point at the yellow outfit. “That one’s cuter, and it’s closer to Bokkari so, obviously I’m gonna choose the duck.” He explained, and you nodded along in agreement. “Look at this though, angel.” He said as he started walking again, not straying too far off as you hung the outfits back on the racks, making a mental note to remember where they were for when you came back to get them. 

“What is it?” You asked, walking over to where he stood in front of a nursery set that was duck themed, his eyes sparkling as he looked at it. “Oh… Oh that’s adorable.” You picked up the set, flipping it over to see the price on the back of the box before setting it back down again. “And completely ridiculous. $60 for a blanket and a bib? They’re charging for the packaging.” 

Felix snorted, wrapping his arm around your waist and leading you to the electronics section, his mind back on track once more. “It’s cute that you completely forget that I make a ridiculous amount of money doing what I do.” He teased, playfully squeezing your side and making you jump before you leaned into him. “Don’t worry, once we have a baby, they’ll be set for life. They’ll never want for nothing.” 

It was hard to fight back the urge to tell him right then and there, but you bit your lip, looping your arm around his and resting your head against his shoulder. “I love that you’re already planning on spoiling them…” You teasingly murmured, smiling softly up at him. “How will I ever compete with you?” 

He paused for a moment, and you assumed that he was just trying to think of an answer to your question, but his gaze that was laid upon you softened as he turned to stand in front of you. “It’ll never be a competition. Everything we do will be as a team. Whatever I get for them, even if you’re not there when I get it, it’ll be from the both of us.” The short moment of sweetness quickly changed to him teasing once again as he leaned in to kiss the tip of your nose. “What’s with all this baby talk? Hmm? You got something to tell me?” He wiggled his eyebrows playfully, and you shook your head fast, hoping that he didn’t pick up on your nervous giggling. 

“I’m having baby fever again. You know how bad it gets when I walk through the baby aisles.” You reasoned, and thankfully, your explanation was good enough for him. He was used to you having the baby talk the whole way home after shopping trips, but your mind would usually trail off into something else as soon as you got home. You’d have to keep up with the pattern if you wanted to keep this a secret, at least long enough to get everything ready for the surprise. 

2 weeks, one secret doctors appointment, and a small shopping trip with Chan later, and you finally had the little gift box prepared to surprise Felix with. It took a lot to keep yourself from telling him before the two weeks was up, but you just kept it in the back of your mind that his reaction would be adorable, of course it would be, everything he did was adorable. 

The camera was set up, under the advice of Hyunjin who wanted so badly to be there to see it, but he also knew that if he was at the house when Felix got home it would raise some questions and might have spoiled the surprise. Everything was being recorded, and truthfully, this would be a moment that you’d love to look back on later on in life. 

“Angel…” Felix called out from the front door, and you heard his shoes tumble onto the floor and the quiet sound of his slippers sliding across the hard wood as he slipped them on. “You okay?” Of course, today was one of those days when the wonderful symptoms of carrying a child kicked in full force and had you leaning over the kitchen sink as you tried to hold back the nausea long enough to give him his surprise. 

“Mmhm…” You hummed, cupping a bit of cold water in your hand and sipping a bit of it before turning around to face him. “Think I just ate a bit too quickly.” You explained, giving him a smile when he came over to you, placing the back of his hand against your forehead. “I’m not sick, really. Come… I have something to tell you.” You said, and the sudden bout of sickness had your voice lacking the excitement that you had been hoping to convey. 

“Is… Is it bad?” He stammered, and you could almost see through his chest, visualizing his heart sinking at your words. He truly was too good for this world, he was far too sweet, and you immediately felt bad for even accidentally worrying him. “You’re not leaving me… Are you? Did I do something wrong?” 

“No!” You said, maybe a little too loudly, his eyes widening in shock at the sudden outburst. “Sorry… Sorry. I’m not leaving you. I just… I have a surprise for you and… I really want to show you.” You said the words a little too fast, and you hoped that he was able to catch all of them. He still seemed a little confused, but you were already grabbing his hand and leading him to the living room. “Sit… I have to run to the bedroom to grab something.” You motioned to the couch with your head, and once he was finally seated, you ran to the bedroom and grabbed the little box out of the top of the closet. 

“You’re not… proposing, are you? I wanted to be the one to do that…” He said, watching you with suspicious eyes as you walked back into the living room, your hands behind your back to hide the box from him. “What is that? What are you holding?” He inquired further, craning his neck to try to see behind you. 

“Shh.. Just close your eyes and hold out your hands.” You waited for him to do so before placing the little box in his upturned hands, and then you sat on the little seat across from him. “Open…” You whispered, and your heart was hammering in your chest now as you watched his eyes scan over the little box that had congratulations written across the lid. 

“What is it…?” He asked, and you motioned towards the box with his hand, silently telling him to open it. He carefully set it down on the coffee table before shimmying the lid off, and you heard him gasp softly when he saw the tiny teddy bear and the little note. “Appa…? Me? I’m… You’re… Really?” He questioned, and you hesitantly nodded your head in agreement, not able to fully gauge his reaction just yet. Then he lifted the note and on the backside you had carefully taped the ultrasound photo, it wasn’t much, but the little bean was there, and he could see it clearly. 

“Lix…” You nervously whispered his name as you watched his hand go to his mouth, and you could have sworn you heard a sigh… or maybe it was a sob… But you couldn’t really tell how he was feeling just yet. “Are you… okay? I’m sorry, I just-” 

His head shook, and when he finally looked at you, his hand falling to his lap, you could see he was smiling. “This is amazing…” He choked out, pushing himself up off the couch and striding over to you only to drop down to the floor in front of you, his hands moving to your stomach. “I’m so happy… I… I don’t even have words. This… We’re having a baby… We’re gonna have a family… Us… We are…” 

“We are…” You agreed, your own tears beginning to form and trickle down your cheeks. His hands moved up to cup your cheeks, his thumbs working quickly to wipe the tears before they had the chance to reach your chin, his smile never faltering as he looked up at you with eyes that sparkled and shined. “I love you, Felix…” 

He pushed himself up, kissing you gently, his lips tasted of salt from his tears and a slight hint of coffee. “I love you more, most, mostest, more than anything. Thank you… For giving me this gift, for loving me… For making me happy, for making me the luckiest man in the world.” He sighed, and then he started laughing, a soft laugh, a chuckle that came from his chest that seemed to vibrate through him. Your head tilted to the side questioningly, but he only shook his head. “I’m glad that wasn’t a proposal… Because I have to run to the bedroom real quick and grab something… Just make sure you say yes to my next question.”

You are so productive and living your best life I admire it so much! I don't understand how you do it... do you have any advice for forcing yourself to do the things you know are good for you even when you are feeling sad and not up to it? Have a lovely day ❣️❣️❣️

Plan your day hour by hour. This actually revolutionized my life. Plan when you’ll wake up, plan what you’ll do every hour of the day, and make it as realistic as possible to stick to your goals. Start with simple things and gradually ramp it up. Don’t overwhelm your day with 60 different goals. I’d pair one passive goal (be on your phone less, for example) with one active goal (study more, take more walks, read more) and go from there. It’s better to start small and be consistent than to start big and quit one day in.

Lower the resistance necessary to accomplish tasks. If you have somewhere to be early tomorrow, plan your outfit the night before. If you have studying to do, have your textbooks/notebooks/notes on your desk by the time you wake up. If you have an overwhelming task, break it into smaller subtasks and focus on them one at a time. If you don’t want to be on your phone in the morning, charge it somewhere you won’t be able to see the moment you open your eyes. I’m trying to overcome the phone issue right now, so instead of setting an alarm on my phone I just bought a digital alarm clock bc I know I’m way less likely to get on my phone that way. I’m lowering the effort needed to actually get started on a task.

Have motivational things handy for when you’re down!! I’m a highly visual person, so it actually really helps me to make moodboards. I have moodboards for things I wanna accomplish, moodboards for things I’ve already accomplished, a Pinterest board for affirmations etc etc. I have a list on my notes app for all the reasons why it’s important to me to accomplish my goals. I have another notes app page dedicated to pasting all the motivational quotes that help me whenever I’m in a funk. You could even print them and hang them up on your wall if you want. In times where instant gratification overshadows getting things done, make it very accessible to remember why they’re important to you to begin with.

Romanticize your tasks. I make silly to-do lists, I make sure I’m always in cute outfits when I’m running errands, I put on perfume and mascara and lip gloss even if I’m literally all on my own in my bedroom about to do a 3 hour study session. I love getting manicures bc there’s nothing more satisfying than studying with pretty dark red fall nails. This may sound extra but I go through my notes pretending I’m Elle Woods or something bc it makes it so much fun. A huge part of why I’m consistent with going to the gym is bc I buy pretty workout fits that just make me feel good. I wear lingerie under my clothes wherever I am bc it makes me feel like a bad bitch even if no one sees it. I don’t start a task with the thought in mind that I want to get it done already—I try to make the act of doing it in and of itself as engaging as possible.

To piggyback off that point, switch your environment if your current one isn’t serving you. Don’t just default to quitting if one approach isn’t working. If studying in your bedroom isn’t doing it, go to the nearest coffee shop. If the coffee shop isn’t working, do the library. Study indoors. Study outdoors. Study in nature. Hell study at a beach if you want to. It doesn’t matter where you are if you’re getting things done. Exhaust all your alternatives before calling it quits.

Set firm boundaries with yourself. This is so big. Self-care is absolutely treating yourself, but it’s also being your own parent and disciplining yourself if you feel like you’re not putting your all into something. In a world where it’s very easy to go “just a few more minutes on my phone” “I’ll do it tomorrow” “I can skip working out today” it’s really important to be able to parent yourself and exercise some tough love and do some things even if you don’t feel like you want to. I really struggle with this as a gen z girl bc this is THE era of instant gratification. But my goals are just more important to me than momentary comfort.

No zero days. Just bc you’re not being your 100% on one day doesn’t mean you should just lie down and do nothing. Being at 50% performance is better than being at 0%. I try to make sure I get some light tasks done on days where I don’t feel like going all in. It helps me not feel like I’ve just derailed my whole life, which consequently helps me move on from my ruts faster.

Look ahead. Can not emphasize this enough. Death motivates me like nothing else. You do not have an infinite time on this earth. You don’t want to be at the same place you’ve been at a year from now. Resist the “I’ll do it tomorrow” mentality as much as possible. Change happens in small increments & there’s no better time for it than the present. What may seem like little things you can skip out on now can quickly snowball into the very things that are preventing you from being where you want to be.

Acknowledge your limits. Someone with two full-time jobs and school should not be comparing themself to the progress of someone with one part-time job and like nothing else. I’m currently studying full-time and also trying to maintain a consistent workout routine, so I don’t expect myself to recreationally read more than 30 minutes a day, even if ideally I’d like that time to be way higher. I know it’s pointless to compare myself to someone who reads 70 books a month but has much less workload than I do. Comparison is inherently flawed bc no one else has been the dealt the cards you’ve been dealt. Tailor your schedule to your own unique situation. Make a list of your priorities and assign them to your hours accordingly.

Listen to your needs!! Mental health is the most important thing. You need to be in tune with yourself to know when you could be pushing yourself a little harder, and when it’s necessary to give yourself time off. If I’m in an actual burnout, I go out with friends. I go see a movie. I give myself the grace of being human and step back for a little bit. It’s completely okay to have those days, and acknowledging them helps you recover quicker. Take care of yourself <3

Mass Effect Vanguard Guide

First and foremost, this is exactly what it says: a guide. It is not the right way to play this class; it is a way that I have found very effective after well over a thousand hours spent running different builds and different classes in campaign and ME3 Multiplayer. If you build it differently and like your style better, great! If you are having fun, you’re doing it right.

But if you are struggling at all with the Vanguard class or don’t click with it, this guide might help you. The build, loadout, and strategy are designed with higher difficulties in mind. This kit can easily make quick work of insanity and is a lot of fun if you enjoy using your face as a weapon.

THE BUILD

Shepard has 8 skill trees + a Bonus Power. At Rank 60, you can max out 8 skills and have enough points leftover to take the 9th to level 4. For this build, I recommend only taking Cryo Ammo to rank 4 (or skipping it entirely), and maxing everything else. 

Prioritize Charge, Nova, Incendiary Ammo, Assault Mastery, and probably a few points in Fitness here and there.  

Breakdown under the cut! 

Incendiary Ammo: Incendiary ammo might be one of the most brokenly overpowered skills in the game. The explosive evolution adds a flat damage value vs. a percentage on every other shot, which is insane. On rapid fire weapons that do less damage per shot, like the Tempest or the Typhoon, you're basically doubling the amount of damage you're doing. Add the area of effect you get with the explosion? You're now inflicting this chaos on anyone else who’s nearby. Are you using a piercing mod (the answer should be yes)? You now have a shot at another roll for another explosion, because the damage call can pass through the armored target and torment the cannon fodder behind it. A piercing mod reduces the damage on your bullet, but not the explosion. This is super insane on shotguns, because you get a shot at the extra damage roll per pellet, not per shot. Shotgun blasts have multiple pellets per shot.

Have I mentioned that this is affected by increases in power damage? So any power damage increases you take in Assault Mastery make incendiary ammo better.

Rank 4 – Damage. To hell with your squad. I mean, your squad is amazing. But trust me, you want to be selfish with incendiary ammo. You can do so much more with it than your squad can.

Rank 5 – Are you handy with headshots? Take Headshot damage. Would you rather have more ammo capacity? Take Ammo Capacity. Whatever makes you happy.

Rank 6 – Explosive Burst. Always take explosive burst. There is no universe in which you want anything other than explosive burst.

Cryo Ammo: This is your dump stat. I don’t even put my leftover points in cryo ammo, because the circumstances in which you would choose cryo ammo over incendiary ammo do not exist, if you are going for maximizing damage. Cryo ammo is really nothing more than a debuff, and you know what’s better than a debuff? Killing it. Now, if you just want to snicker at enemies with a health bar freezing solid and toppling over, that’s different. 😊 But when it comes to higher difficulties, cryo ammo just doesn’t stand up to the effectiveness of other ammo powers.  

Pull: Pull doesn’t provide nearly as much benefit as your other skills, so I suggest speccing into it last. It can, however, be a fun way to toy with mooks if you’re bored of scattering them like ninepins, and offer an alternative for dealing with Guardians if emptying a shotgun full of fire into their mail slot doesn’t quite do it for you. Pull will also prime biotic explosions. It’s not elegant, but you can do it.

Rank 4: Duration vs. Radius: I go for Radius, because as a Vanguard nothing stays alive long enough for duration to matter. But if you are having trouble with timing to get biotic explosions, you can choose Duration here.

Rank 5: Lift Damage vs. Expose: Go for Expose, which increases all damage to the target, including biotic detonations. Again, things don’t stay alive long enough for lift damage to do much for you.  

Rank 6: Recharge Speed vs. Double Pull. DOUBLE PULL. Why would you choose one pull when you can have two? This skill already has one of the fastest recharge speeds in the game, so choosing recharge speed doesn’t gain you anything.

Biotic Charge: Biotic charge, of course, is the signature skill of the vanguard, and while there are plenty of playstyles you can use that don’t hinge on charge…why would you? Charge is stupidly fun. You can be reckless, silly, and stupid, and no one can stop you. You’ll make so many things explode you can hear colors. There isn’t a problem your face can’t solve, unless the problem is on a platform out of bounds.

Charge is also a detonator power, which means you can set up biotic explosions by painting a target with warp, reave, dark channel, and even pull, and then slamming your face into it. Charge will also create a fire explosion when you ram your face into something that’s on fire from incinerate or….incendiary ammo. Hey, who has incendiary ammo and can make their own fire explosions? VANGUARDS. 

Rank 4: Force & Damage vs. Radius. Dealer’s choice. Do you want to smash for face against one thing with all the force? Or smash your face against all the things with less force? ME3 tends to emphasize cannon fodder over high tier enemies, so if you’re a little shy about running straight into the arms of a banshee and prefer to use yourself as a bowling ball into a pile of husks, go for radius. Otherwise, go for damage.

Rank 5: Weapon Synergy vs. Power Synergy. For most playstyles, power synergy is what you want here, especially if you like to spam Nova, as power synergy makes your nova hit harder. However, if you prefer to charge into something and then stick your shotgun down its throat to set it on fire with fire bullets, take weapon synergy.

Rank 6: Bonus Power vs. Barrier: I recommend barrier here, because the number one problem vanguards have is not giving a fuck, and having charge give you your shields back when not giving a fuck lands you in a sticky situation will generally save your life. Also, the cooldowns on this kit are so fast you really don’t benefit that much from randomly getting a free one to justify giving up those shields you really need because nova.

Shockwave: Shockwave is another detonator for biotic explosions, and it’s a handy mid-range attack when you’re stuck in cover or don’t want ravager goo all over your face.

Rank 4: Force & Damage vs. Radius: Shockwave’s biggest weakness is its short reach, so I choose radius here. NOTE: In the Original Trilogy, this skill is bugged on PC. Choosing radius actually causes this skill to do ZERO damage. So if you are playing OT on PC, choose Force. This bug appeared to be fixed in LE when I tested it.

Rank 5: Detonate vs. Reach: While reach would be great, because again, range is this skill’s biggest shortcoming, detonating combos is what makes shockwave so good. I recommend detonate, unless you find yourself not using it for explosions.

Rank 6: Recharge vs. Lifting Shockwave: Either one will work here, really. Lifted shockwave is cute, and can help you set up explosions, so I tend to choose it.

Nova: The companion skill to Charge! A lot of people are afraid of Nova because it depletes your shields. But I encourage you to practice with it, because if you get comfortable with the pattern of charge + nova + shoot it on fire until it’s dead, there isn’t much of anything a vanguard can’t handle.

Yes, even banshees.

Rank 4:  Force and Damage vs. Radius: You can choose either here, though I will give the lean towards force and damage. If something manages to evade the radius, stick a fire shotgun down their throat to make them think about what they’ve done.

Rank 5: Power Recharge vs. Half Blast: I recommend power recharge here, because decreasing the effectiveness of nova means it dies slower, and Power Recharge speed increases your recharge speed by 25% across the board for 15 seconds. That means CHARGE recharges faster. Which means you can lock yourself in a continuous loop of faster recharge by charging and nova-ing until everything is dead. Remember, this kit does not have a grenade power because SHEPARD is the grenade. Realize your full potential and blow everything up.  

Rank 6: Pierce vs. Sustain: Don’t be tempted by Sustain, and the allure of sometimes not using up your barrier. Choose Pierce. Not only does this make you more effective vs. Armor and Barriers, but also shields, which is something biotics aren’t great at. If you feel naked without your shields, remember you have a FIRE GUN that can protect you until Charge is primed and ready to give you your shields back, and Rank 5 means that recharge is faster.

Assault Mastery: Here’s where things get stupid. Assault Mastery makes all your badass shit even more badass.

Rank 4: Damage vs. Influence & Force: I understand that the Influence bonus is really attractive here, but we’re focusing a build that services combat, not story, and Damage brings you to a 20% power bonus vs. the 10% if you choose I&F. Remember, power damage not only affects your biotic powers, but also your ammo power. Remember how stupid Incendiary Ammo is? This makes it stupider.

Rank 5: Squad Bonus vs. Weight Capacity: Be selfish. Your squad is great, but Shepard is a god, and do you know how your make gods even more badass? Let them bring heavier guns.

Rank 6: Shotgun Damage vs. Power Intensity: Even if you primarily use a shotgun and don’t rely heavily on powers, the 20% power damage bonus from Power Intensity is better, because it also applies to Incendiary Ammo. And it gives you the freedom to use other guns if you want to.

Fitness: Let’s make this short and sweet: As a vanguard, you are not punching things with your fists, you are punching things with your face, so for ranks 4, 5, & 6, go Durability, Barrier Recharge, and Durability.

Bonus Power: I recommend any biotic power that sets up combos, since setting up combos is what Vanguards are not great at. Between Reave and Dark Channel, I prefer reave, because you can paint multiple targets, it staggers the target, it stacks, and it gives you damage reduction. I do NOT recommend Flare. While it is a really cool power, it has a painfully slow recharge speed, and vanguards need to move fast.

Reave:

Rank 4: Duration vs. Radius: I choose radius, to paint more targets. It’s not gonna live long enough for duration to matter.

Rank 5: Damage Reduction vs. Recharge Speed: The recharge speed is a little painful, so if you aren’t having trouble staying alive, you can choose it. If you’re dying, damage reduction will help.

Barriers & Armor vs. Damage & Duration: You can go either way here, but I prefer Barriers & Armor, because you can fire a reave at a banshee and then ignore her while you go bowling with the cannon fodder. When all your toys are dead, you can then ram your face into the banshee so she explodes.     

The Weapons

The weight capacity bonus you can get from Assault Mastery means Shepard can be this powerful and carry some REALLY good guns. I recommend weapons with a high rate of fire to take advantage of Incendiary Ammo. Shotguns are the obvious choice, but any weapon with a high rate of fire that keeps you close to or at a 200% cooldown is good.

My favorites are the Piranha and the Hurricane, the latter of which can take advantage of a power mag bonus. But since you are already giving up a valuable mod slot for the power mag, if you need a stabilizer to use it comfortably, I’d recommend going with something else. The Talon is a good choice because it is lightweight, fires quickly enough, and it has a damage bonus to shields and barriers. Basically, it’s a pocket shotgun. The Reegar is a weapon that can be REALLY dumb, since it melts shields, and it benefits from a piercing mod, but its drawback is that it is very short range on a class that already struggles at range. If you want to use it, I suggest the piercing and thermal clip mods.

Speaking of the range issue. I have two words for you: The Indra.

The Indra is an automatic sniper rifle, one of the absolute best weapons in the game, and Shepard can carry it and STILL HAVE A 200% COOLDOWN. Also? It costs 10k credits on the Citadel at the beginning of the game. Is it counterintuitive to carry a sniper rifle on a Vanguard? Yup. Is it immersion breaking? Possibly. But remember, this is a combat guide, not a story guide. Put the Indra on Shepard with Incendiary Ammo, and congrats! You are now invincible.

How to Play

Vanguard is a high risk/high reward class. It’s designed to play fast and at close range, so if you are trying to play it like an adept, you might not get good results. Get comfortable playing with your shields down (you’ll get them back with the next charge), don’t be stingy with medigel, and don’t fret too much about top tier enemies like phantoms and banshees. You might occasionally get sync killed, but truthfully, your damage output is so high you can often stagger them out of their murderous intent. Even turrets can’t stand up to this kit:

Turn on incendiary ammo the moment you load into a mission and leave it on. I suggest mapping charge, nova, and reave (if it’s your bonus power) to the hotkeys so you don’t have to use the power wheel for each, and make it a muscle memory. Charge everything. Nova with impunity. Shoot everything that isn’t dead until they’re on so much fire they wish they were. Use the power wheel to pause the game and get your bearings or figure out what’s shooting you. Use your squadmates to either strip shields or set up biotic explosions. Use and abuse combat roll to get out of trouble if charge is on cooldown. If you’re about to die, charge first, then medigel. Reload canceling is your friend. (If you are not familiar with reload canceling, I plan to make a post about it.)

A vanguard should rarely stop moving, except for the occasional stint behind cover to regroup, reload your gun, or set up an explosion. If you stop charging, you’ll probably die.

This class is a hell of a lot of fun if you let it off the chain and go hog wild. Don’t be afraid to die. Taking the risk – even if it doesn’t pay off all the time – helps you get comfortable with the batshit playstyle if it’s not something you’re used to.

I love all the Mass Effect classes, but this one is my favorite because this is how I really love to play the game. I hope this guide helps!

i saw this posted and got so mad i ranted but didn't want to reblog someone's post like that so i decided to just make my own-

quackity made qsmp because of his experiences as a bilingual creator and his want to bring his two worlds together. He wanted to help break down language and culture barriers, which he LITERALLY DID ON THE FIRST DAY THROUGH THE WALL. I can't imagine a reason dream has for this other than...attention? idk. Everything about this screams that he just wants to do what quackity is doing but "bigger and better" and that misses the point of qsmp and, even if I'm wrong about his intentions, makes dream look kinda like a dick.

Oh, first-ever bilingual server? well here's the first MULTI-LINGUAL SERVER, which hinges on the technicality that 'multi' here means 3+, not 2+, even though multiple just means 'more than one'. But that technicality is bullshit!!! So, no, actually, QSMP is the first Multilingual server. Fuck off!!!!!

The addition of 'live translation' is iffy to me, I checked out his video on the mod just to make sure I know what I'm talking about and... yeah it's iffy at best. It's technologically cool, and I will give him credit for making a mod for this. However, that's not that much praise all things considered. Practically, you'll have to constantly be looking at other people's character's ALL THE TIME in order to have a conversation with them, which isn't feasible in a natural way. I'm honestly not going to say much about the translations themselves because I'm only fluent in English. However, I still highly doubt that his mod will pick up on any nuances and slang in a different language

Basically, it would have been better to not do this to not bother with a mod, and to encourage others to learn different languages LIKE QUACKITY DID.

Large servers with 60+ people and 6 leaders...so like they all get grouped together? What is this a shitty model un? And with the leaderboard, I want to laugh at the idea that this is a very very bad take on Minecraft Olympics. What will they score, achievements? How many kills someone can get in a tournament-style bracket? How many blocks mined? What on earth is 'language ranking'???? This is a server that already had multiple languages set on the premises of uniting there isn't a need for another gimmick? TBH im so baffled on this that I'm curious enough to not seriously talk shit on that part but that doesn't count for the next thing I'll rant about-

"with equal say in decision making"- First of all FUCK OFF /SRS. The biggest issue people had with the dsmp was that smaller streamers weren't listened to. They constantly tried to stream with others to get their storylines going, and yet nothing. It was also heavily implied that the main person ignoring everyone and not communicating well behind the scenes was FUCKING DREAM. First of all, as the main server admin, owner, and Guy In Charge, that's horrible management. Yet he's never spoken about it as far as I'm aware. He's never given a reason he's so unreachable. So, if I'm correct, that makes THIS COMMENT the first time he's mentioned the dsmp's shit communication issues and it's done in such a backhanded way I want to scream like YOU WERE THE ISSUE DREAM. It's just tacky, imo.

My strategy for beating Open Orbit 38

From a Zayne main's perspective

@zaynes-left-chesticle asked for my strat so I'm putting it in its own post in hopes that it will help others stuck on this stage too

1. Setup

First and foremost, I have to say that I fight every battle on an emulator (MuMu) and with a gamepad because it feels a lot more natural to me to game with an actual controller

The repeated taps to attack also just cramp up my thumb, so I map the attack button to repeated clicks. So all I need to do to attack is hold the button down

As for the regular charged attack that procs when you hold the attack button down, I did map it to a different button on the gamepad, but I've found it less effective than the repeated attacks, so I never use it

2. Companions, Cards, and Cores

❄️ Companions

Ok this is where I start being a simp

Because instead of being smart and going with Xavier, I decided to brute force my way through it with the husband because I just felt more comfortable with him

I tried all three outfits with both Zayne and Xavier, and also all weapons on MC, but what ended up working was MC on guns and, of course, the king, Dawnbreaker

But just looking at these cards, I should have had an easier time with Xavier since I was able to boost the protofield buffs higher than my Zayne team. Xavier's team even had a solar pair. Meanwhile, I was rocking that 3* level 30 card with Zayne LMAO

In all honestly, Xavier will probably be the better choice for most people. But if you're stuck in the Zayne swamp like I am, bring out Dawnbreaker and go slaughter your enemies (more on that below)

❄️ Cards

Okay let's start with the elephant in the room: The 3* level 30 card lol

I do have other, stronger green cards than that one, but I really only threw that card in because it was a solar card, which meant that I could satisfy the protofield requirement by having a third green card while also opening up a lunar slot for a stronger stat stick (the red Cozy Afternoon card)

Another important factor in choosing cards is their talents. Despite me only hitting the minimum protofield colours, having cards with attack talents is important if you're underlevelled like I am

5/6 cards in my Zayne team are attack-centric, while Sweet Conspiracy is an HP card

You can check what a card's talent is by clicking the (!) button

I did try with another green card in my team, Dawn's Shadows (lvl 40). But that is a DEF card, so replacing it with an off-coloured ATK card, Cozy Afternoon (lvl 60) helped more than the protofield boost. It being at a higher level helped too

Some cards also have Advanced skills, so you could watch out for those too

❄️ Cores

I've severely neglected my core hunts so I don't have a lot to choose from or exp to level them with, but I recommend equipping any you have with a focus on Attack and Attack Bonus

Even if you don't have cores with an attack boost, equipping anything that will boost your damage is useful

You're mainly fighting against the timer here, so you need as much offensive power as you can get

Here are the ones I had equipped:

3. Strategy

Alright, so now that you your setup and team, let's talk about the strategy

The most important thing is to wipe out the frenzy wanderer ON SIGHT

Nothing else matters, so as soon as that thing pops up, hunt that fucker down

When the fight begins, your partner will target the wanderer on the left first. I decided to target it as well just to make it die faster, but soon, the frenzy wanderer will come in, so don't waste any of your skills on the regular wanderers

The things you are fighting against are the shitty aiming system and the frenzy timer (that starts before you can even target it), so if your aim decides to hit the wanderer on the other side of the field instead of the frenzy wanderer right in front of you, my suggestion is to just restart the fight unless you know you can kill it before the energy dissipates

There are three frenzy wanderers that show up shortly after the regular ones do, so save skills and unload on them. Focus your camera on them, and ideally back them into a corner so that it's the only enemy on your screen. Get right up in their faces so that your aim stays on it and your partner is more likely to target it as well

I was able to gather the frenzy energy from the first two, but when I beat the stage, I'm pretty sure I wasn't able to finish off the third. The first two are definitely the easiest so if you can manage those two, I think you'll be okay

Just be sure that your aim is on the frenzy wanderer because the resonance skill tends to want to aim at the wanderer with the protocore shields

When you've killed the frenzy wanderer and collected its energy, just go with the regular fighting strat:

Save your diamond skills for breaking through the protocore shields, then unleash everything you have when it's weakened

I tend to use the partner support skill (the one that fills his profile pic with yellow) as soon as it's available since it charges up fast enough, but I make sure that skill and every other skill I have (support, ardent oath if it's close to filling, and MC's active skill) is available before I break through the shields

Y/N’s POV

I open my door and Jake is standing there with a rose asking “Can I tempt you with a free night out on the town with me, free of charge?” I laugh and answer “Tempting, but I don’t know.” He laughs and begs “Just pretend to be my date."  I reply "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trying to seduce me." He replies “Maybe I am. You never know. So, will you do it?” I ask “What? Pretend to be your date?” He answers “Yes that.” I reply “Sure. The night was boring until you got here anyway.” He replies “Compliments won’t buy me drinks.” I playfully slap him and he then says “Come on. We have to go.” I quickly ask “For what?” He answers “The fake dating... it’s kind of tonight. We have to be somewhere and need to leave in the next 5 minutes in order to be early. I told them that my date loves to be there early, so we have to leave in ... well 4 minutes now.” I ask “And who is the rose for?” He answers “Ah... you mi lady.” He hands me the rose and I reply “Ok come in. Thank you for the rose. Now, what do I wear?” He answers “I’d prefer nothing... I’m kidding. Would it be too cliché to ask if we could match? I’ve always wanted to wear matching outfits with someone.” I reply “Ok. I’ll be right back.”

I change into similar colors as Jake and I then walk back to where he is sitting. Jake exclaims “Wow, that is great. We look great. Okay, let’s go.”

Jake starts driving and I notice he seems anxious. I rub his leg and ask “Hey Jake. You seem anxious and that is making me anxious. Where are we going and who are we meeting?” He answers “I just ... my friends wanted everyone to bring their girlfriend so we could hang out together outside of work. I promised them I would bring my girlfriend tonight and I’ve been telling them I’ve been dating you for 6 months at this point, so yeah that’s about it.”  HE TOLD PEOPLE WE WERE DATING FOR 6 MONTHS!?! That’s a huge lie. Wait... he’s been talking about me for 6 months?!?! That is kind of sweet. I ask “Is that why we always hang out on the same night every week and why we’ve stayed at each other’s places? You’ve been saying you have a date night with your girlfriend on that night?” He answers “Sort of, yeah. That sums it up.” I ask “And do you actually like me?” He answers “Shit, I wish I wasn’t driving right now, so I could look at you. Here, let me pull over.”

Jake gets over 2 lanes and pulls into a spot at a store. He then turns to face me and exclaims “Most of the time when we’re together, I get so embarrassed to say anything especially how I feel about you. And now... Now, I need to tell you. I really like you, Y/N. You’re beautiful, kind, and hilarious, and you make me the happiest guy in the world. When tonight is over, could we go on a real date?” I answer “Yes we can, Jake. I like you too.” He smiles, grabs my hand to kiss it, and then holds it as he starts to drive again.

We end up arriving at this restaurant 10 minutes early according to Jake. He still seems stressed about something. 

Once we get out, I stop walking and Jake turns to face me asking “What’s wrong? Why did you stop walking?” I answer “You still seem stressed. I just wanted to make sure you were okay.” He smiles, cups my face with his hands, and says “I’m fine. I just ... It wasn’t how I wanted to share my feelings to you. I don’t know. It feels wrong how I did it when you deserve something so much bigger and better.” I lean closer and say “I can think of one way to ease this worry.” He asks “What?” I answer “A kiss on the lips.” He smirks and asks “May I?” I answer “Yes.” He leans in and we kiss. 

I hear clapping and we pull apart. I see some of his friends standing there watching and clapping. 

Jake waves and exclaims “Hey guys! Sorry about that, she asked for a kiss and who am I to deny my beautiful girlfriend?” I laugh. He’s so cute. I wanna kiss him again. Fuck, I really really like him. 

Jake introduces me to his friends then we head inside where I meet more of his friends. It intimidates me a little because there are so many of them and only one of me. I only have like 2 or 3 friends in town because I like my alone time more than I like to spend time with people other than Jake that is.

Jake’s friend, Coyote, turns to me, and asks “So how did you and Jake meet?” I answer “We met at the Hard Deck. I was with some friends when he hit on me and I thought he seemed arrogant. However, my friends said I needed to get out there and talk to guys, so I went and talked with him for a while. My first impression was wrong. We hit it off there and I didn’t give him my number or any way to reach me. I went back the next week in hopes of seeing him because I didn’t give him my number and he was there. He was happy to see me, we exchanged numbers, and then we made Thursday night our date night every week. Jake has been my constant ray of sunshine and joy for the past 6 months. I cannot wait for many more months like these.” Coyote replies “The Hard Deck? Wait, that means I was there. I’m with him every time we go there. Unless you’re cheating on me, Hangman?” Jake rests his arm around the chair behind me and answers “I have gone without you. I’m sorry. Bros before hoes, except when she’s your hoe. Right, man?” Coyote stares confused and then bursts out laughing. Yeah, Jake just called me a hoe but he called me HIS?! So do I consider that a win? Yes. I turn to Jake and say “You’re lucky you’re hot.” Jake asks “How mad would you be if I kissed you?” I answer “Not mad at all.” He smiles, leans in, and kisses me.

Dinner goes so well that we all plan to start hanging out weekly. After dinner, we all go see a movie where Jake and I hold hands the whole time all the while we sneak glances at each other. He’s so freaking cute. I could scream.

We end the night at the Hard Deck. Where else would we end the night? 

I’m sitting on a stool watching the boys play pool. I had to get off my feet. Why did I wear heels? Whose idea was that? Mine. I know. 

Jake walks over, pecks me on the lips, and says “Hi.” I reply “Kiss me better.” He smiles, puts his hands on the side of my face, and says “Ooh bossy I like it.” He leans in and kisses me gently. He slowly moves his hands from my face to my neck and deepens the kiss.

I hear “Dude, PDA! Chill Hangman.” Jake pulls away long enough to flip off his friends. I hear them laughing as turns back to me, and asks “Where were we?”  I laugh and he leans back into my lips.

Pretty Pointy Smile Chapter 4

This is set in more of like the 1950-60s/ish time period.

Warnings: eventual smut, physical assault, a gun, a lion attack

The local sheriff was irate, but took one look at the state of Bucky and decided fair was fair, so no charges were brought against the circus.  The man attacked by the lion was not too pleased but decided to let things go instead of ratting out his friends and catching a charge himself.

The next few weeks were rough as the circus still traveled and Bucky had to lay still.  The vampire act was cut for the time being so he could heal, and it made him feel useless to just be idling by while everyone else had to work.  It also took a financial toll on the circus since it had quickly become their big moneymaker.  He looked forward to the day Happy would clear him and he could start again.  

“Come on, Happy, give me some good news,” Bucky sighed as he was inspected again.  The bruising had gone away, the wheezing slowly dissipated, and his lip healed.  He was just happy that he didn’t lose one of his fangs from the assault.

“I know you’re wanting to get back out there kid, just give me a second,” Happy teased him, listening through the stethoscope again.  After a beat he pulled away and gave Bucky a wink.  “You’re good.”

“All good?” Bucky smiled wide.

“All good, vampy.  Get back to work,” Happy clapped his shoulder as he packed up his medical bag.

“Thanks, doc!” Bucky clapped Happy’s shoulder back then quickly ran out of the tent looking for Y/N.  He found her by the elephants, giving treats to her favorite Penelope.  “Y/N!” Bucky called as he jogged up to her.

Y/N whirled around to him, her eyes giving him a once-over.  “Bucky, why are you running?  You have to heal–”

“I’m healed!” Bucky cheered, raising his hands above his head.  “Happy said I’m all good to go!  We can start the act again.”

“Oh!” Y/N smiled widely and rushed towards him.  She opened her arms and he quickly stooped down to pick her up in a hug, swinging her around and laughing.

“I’m so happy, Buck.  Are you sure you’re feeling alright?” Y/N asked as she seemed to inspect his face when he put her down.

“I’m fine, all good to go.  I’m ready to get back into it.”

“Great.  Let’s practice tomorrow before the show to make sure we’re all still good with our blocking, then we can do it again starting tomorrow night.”

“Sounds perfect,” he smiled widely at her.  

Y/N squeezed his arms, giving him a brilliant smile back.  “I’m so happy to have you back.  I won’t have to be in the sideshows anymore after tonight.”

Bucky looked at her puzzledly, “What do you mean? You’ve never been in the sides before?”

Y/N sighed, her eyes turning away.  “Yeah, well, the vampire act has been such a hit that without it we’ve had to do different things to make up for the loss.  And I used to do sides all the time when I started,” she waved off his question and started walking towards her personal tent.

“Wait, what exactly are you doing for the sideshow?” he asked as he followed her.

“Well, show this off,” she answered curtly, showing him her tattooed arm.  

“What do you mean ‘show it off’?” he asked, a strange feeling twisting his stomach.

“It means exactly what it sounds like, Buck,” she started to walk more briskly towards the tent.

“So you’re sitting in one of the sides, just showing off your body?” Bucky asked incredulously.

“Yes, that’s the whole point.  I’m covered nearly head to toe in tattoos.  What good is that if I don’t show them off once in a while?  And it gets us more money,” she said as they reached the tent.

“Yeah, but…” Bucky didn’t know what to say, or why he was feeling so angry about the idea of Y/N doing this.  She’d done it before, she’d chosen to get the tattoos, she wasn’t ashamed of them.  So why was he angry?

“But nothing.  Look, is it enjoyable having people ogle you?  No.  But it works.  Now leave me be, I have to get changed.”

Later that night as Bucky was helping backstage with the big tent show he kept feeling that strange feeling from earlier.  He didn’t want Y/N sitting in a booth dressed in very little showing off her body to others.  It didn’t feel right to him.  Yes it paid, and probably well, but he didn’t like it.  He kept chastising himself mentally.  She doesn’t belong to you.  You are not together.  She can do as she pleases.  Why would she ever be with you anyway?  It was a long show that night.

After it was all over the sideshow acts quickly dispersed to their booths and tents.  The public from the big tent show and those still trickling in would follow the flow from booth to booth, getting snacks and treats, getting their fortune read, looking at the bearded lady and other strange acts.  Bucky decided to roam around and see the sides, or at least that’s what he told himself as he beelined it to Y/N’s tent.  Tents were reserved for the more private or pay-per-view types of acts.  He got in line, which was pretty long and full of men, he noted, for the tattooed ringmaster.  The line slowly trudged along, and the sounds of hoops and hollers could be heard periodically.  Bucky knew this was a bad idea, that he wasn’t going to like what he saw, or maybe like it too much, but his body was moving of its own accord at that point.

Once it was his turn he handed the ticketer his coins, who gave him a wink when they recognized him, and walked into the tent with a few other people he was grouped with.  There was a small stage with a gate around it to stop people from walking up onto it.  The top of the stage was shrouded in a black and white striped curtain.  A gramophone in the corner was playing some music.  Once everyone was inside and the tent door was shut, a crew member inside the tent switched out the record on the gramophone, and as the upbeat music began the curtain was pulled back.  

Y/N was sitting on a stool in the middle of the stage, half turned away from the crowd, and wearing a skimpy bathing suit that matched the black and white striped curtain.  Her hair was pulled all up in a messy updo, curls falling out randomly, with a large white ribbon holding it all together.  Her makeup had been purposely messed up a little, the bright red lipstick smudged along one side of her mouth.  Her body was on almost full display, showing off just how many tattoos there really were, some of them peeking out from the bathing suit.  The crowd whooped, whistled and hollered as she slid off the stool and fully faced them.  She started to pose in different positions, dancing a bit as she would shift from one pose to another.

PLEASE READ!

I know this is kinda a long post, but this is really important and it would mean everything to me if even one person paused to read it.

On Wednesday (12/06), the president of my college: the State University of New York at Fredonia, announced plans to discontinue 13 of our major programs.

Like approximately 20 SUNY schools, which are public universities in New York, Fredonia has been sinking further into a financial crisis for nearly 20 years due to a lack of funding and decreasing enrollment. The majority of SUNY funding is given to only 4 schools, and the rest of us get almost nothing. And those in charge of allocating what we do get are trying to invest in programs that our school is not known for. 

The SUNY system was designed to spread out specializations among different schools to prevent competition in enrollment and protect all types of programs. Fredonia is a liberal art school. We specialize in education, music, and the arts. And we are good at it. Some of the amazing programs we offer exist almost nowhere else in the country, such as our English Adolescence Education major.

If we cannot stop 13 programs from being cut, it will be devastating to our school, the staff and students, and the surrounding community. Professors will lose their jobs. Enrollment will suffer, and we’ve already lost several thousand students in just the last few years because New York has financially abandoned many SUNY schools. Fredonia is one of several schools to announce many devastating and unnecessary program cuts just within the last few months. Types of pograms that are largely ignored nationwide are being cut, and that will show other schools that those types of majors are not worth investing in. 

Here at Fredonia, the programs they want to cut include: several education programs, almost the entirety of our language and language education programs, several art programs, sociology, and philosophy. This will harm the cities of Fredonia, Dunkirk, Jamestown, and others that surround us, because we have an incredibly high, and increasing, Hispanic population. Over 60% of the people in the town I call home are living in extreme poverty, and part of this is because many of them do not speak English.

When I work in our schools with elementary and secondary students, I see every day how many of them struggle with English, how many classrooms have translators and/or fully bilingual curriculums. Many teachers speak or are learning Spanish, in part because their students' parents often do not speak any English. We can’t lose our Spanish and Spanish Education programs. We need to be able to talk to our students.

Revealing these cuts a week before winter break was a deliberate attempt to prevent students and staff from working together to fight for our school and the SUNY system. Professors and department heads are saying they have never experienced a more irresponsibly and cruelly handled announcement in their lives. None of them had any warning. They were all blindsided by the news at the president’s speech yesterday, which had cops in attendance. Students were not invited by the school or warned by the school at all, but several were there because professors invited them. The livestream of the speech was taken down after it ended because the audience responded so loudly and angrily that they didn’t want anyone else to see it.

The president and the cabinet are actively keeping information from the entire staff and student population. His speech included no real data, no sources were provided, and he was intentionally as vague and unclear as possible. He refused to answer any questions and instead said people could submit questions on the Fredonia website, which of course means that they can filter whatever questions they don’t want to answer. He told people to “calm down” and was booed off the stage.

If you’re interested, this article from our student newspaper, The Leader, is being regularly updated with information about Fredonia and the SUNY system, and has a link to the speech that someone preserved by downloading it onto Google Drive.

Yesterday, we held a protest march with at least 200 students, staff members, and UUP union members, which we organized in less than 24 hours. Channel 7 news came to interview people and record the march. (The police department sent an entire unit to watch us, but fortunately didn’t interfere.) We held meetings within the English Department to clear up misinformation, console each other, and make plans to fight for our programs.

We’re gathering data on our financial situation and enrollment, contacting alumni and other SUNY schools, and petitioning our Governor to help fairly distribute SUNY funds. She is fully capable of this and improving the SUNY schools was one of her campaign promises. She has instead dug us further into a pit.

This petition was made by one of our professors to ask the Governor Hochul to help us and other SUNY schools. The description has a lot of really great information, data, and statistics if you want to know more. Fredonia is a small school, but it’s a precious school with fantastic and important programs, and we love it.

But this is bigger than Fredonia. This is about protecting the entire public higher education system in New York. If anyone is willing to quickly sign this petition, it would only take a second and it would mean the world to us. Or even just reblog this post. This will affect more people than I can possibly count and we need help.

I will be ranking the movies from the 50's first and then do the 60's, because his movies in the 50's are honestly my favorite because the stories actually made sense and weren't rushed and you can tell he actually cared.

The 50's - From best to worst

King Creole (Baby acted his ass off in this and the story was great!)

Jailhouse Rock (I really loved this because I could hope that he would've taken charge of his career the way Vince did without the asshole part. Another where the story was great.)

Loving you (He was just too darn cute in this movie with his little stuttering and I love that his parents were in it. Deke has my heart.)

Love Me Tender (Spoiler: this gets worst because he dies 😭)

The 60's - From best to worst

1. Follow That Dream (Does this even need an explanation? You guys know how much I love this movie and not even for the story. It's my comfort movie)

2. Girls! Girls! Girls! (This was the very first Elvis movie I saw and I hold it dear to my heart. I would play Return to Sender on repeat, lol)

3. Wild in the Country (I know this is like 50/50 for people but I really loved this movie. The story was great and his acting was amazing.)

4. G.I Blues (God.. This movie.. He.. Yeah, he looked fine as hell. Story was okay. The songs are my fave.)

5. Live a Little, Love a Little (This was the second Elvis movie I saw and honestly is a favorite!! Bernice is insane BUT I STAN. Greg Nolan is my baby.)

6. It Happened at the World's Fair (This movie was so cute and funny. I always love him in movies with kids! 😭)

7. The Trouble with Girls (DO I EVEN NEED TO EXPLAIN?!!? HIS EYES WERE SPARKLING. THE SUITS)

8. Change of Habit (Okay, I feel like this movie is incredibly underrated and AE made it seem like it was so terrible. But I personally loved this movie because of its serious story and plot. It was also a different character we've seen Elvis play. I think had there been no songs at all, this would've been taken more seriously. He also looked good af.)

9. Flaming Star (Despite the stereotypes and well everything else that would get this movie canceled.. I actually enjoyed it a lot. It was certainly different for Elvis. If I remember correctly, Tarantino said this was his favorite Elvis western because it was the most violent.)

10. Kid Galahad (This movie was good and another different character for him. But I'm not into boxing so it was kind of boring to me)

11. Blue Hawaii (I really enjoyed this movie, but I don't love it as much as everyone does. I don't get the hype and I also think Can't Help Falling In Love is overplayed and overrated. He's got so many better love songs. But that's just my opinion! This movie still gets a good ranking though.)

12. Viva Las Vegas (I enjoyed this movie! But much like Blue Hawaii I don't get the hype. It's not my favorite but definitely not the worst)

Now let's get into the movies that in my personal opinion were the worst. Now that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them. Even with the stories not being great; some of them were funny!

13. Fun in Acapulco (This movie was enjoyable but the story could've been better and I didn't really like a lot of the songs.)

14. Roustabout (I just found this movie so boring and I'm not surprised the colonel loved it. But Elvis looked HOT.)

15. Girl Happy (I really enjoyed this but again the story wasn't great and his character wasn't anything special. But if you want a few laughs this is a good one. ALSO ELVIS IN A DRESS!!!) 16. Tickle Me (this movie was so funny and Elvis always has perfect comedic timing. It reminded me of Scooby Doo. But unfortunately the story was meh they also used songs from one of his old albums because they had nothing written for the film)

17. Spinout (This movie was okay, a few laughs. But nothing too special besides him threatening to spank someone, lol. Basic Elvis character.)

18. Speedway (A few good songs, but kinda boring to me)

19. Frankie and Johnny (I really liked the aesthetic of this film and some of the songs, but it certainly wasn't the best. He looked horrid in that yellow sweater lmfao)

20. Paradise, Hawaiian Style (I enjoyed the songs and his interaction with the little girl. It was too cute! A few good laughs, but nothing to rave about)

21. Stay Away, Joe (This movie was so ridiculous and stupid, but also funny as hell to me because of how ridiculous it was. Another one that would be cancelled. But Elvis looked so good lol)

22. Clambake (SNOOZE FEST. Stupid story also Elvis tried to get out of making this movie. So much drama behind the scenes of this, lol. He was fat shamed. His character.. I don't even know.)

23. Charro! (This movie could've been great since they weren't really any songs, Elvis' acting was great and he looked good with a beard. But the story was just so boring.)

24. Double Trouble (This movie was funny but that's about it. Story was eh)

25. Kissin' Cousins (Jesus Christ.. Where do I even begin with this movie? We should not be hooking up with our cousins first off, LMFAO. The only good thing was Jodie. 😂)

26. Harum Scrum (I DONT EVEN NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS DUMPSTER FIRE. I hate this movie, lol. 2.99 WASTED. Like wtf was this?? It was so bad Elvis gave up acting in the middle of it lol.)

Elvis on Tour (THIS IS MY BABY. The amount of times I watch this is unhealthy. He's so fucking sexy in it and just watching him at all these shows doing what he loves. Ugh. The shot of him staring out the window and kind of just lost in thought.. It just makes me want to hold him.)

That's The Way It Is (The first concert doc I watched. This is just amazing. The album alone is my favorite. But seeing him up on that stage giving it his all and having so much fun doing it warms my heart.)

Aloha From Hawaii via Satellite (I know this technically isn't a concert doc but it belongs on this list. Do I even need to say how amazing this was??? How good he looked?? This certainly is underrated.)

Elvis In Concert - (I wish they would release this because it only aired once I believe on October 3rd, 1977. But that was it. You can watch it on YouTube because someone remastered it and fixed the audio as best as they could. But It'd be nice if EPE would just release the actual footage and have CBS or RCA remaster it. Despite how ill he was he still put on a performance no matter what. He still wanted to make the fans happy. But I understand why they don't really want it out there.)

1. For Original Characters/worlds

Unless I am very familiar with this OC/world, I will need some kind of informational document/bio to reference while doing work. Things to include on something like this involve name, pronouns, (if no art refs) physical description, personality, and important background knowledge required to do the requested story justice (like big life events, if they are married, if they have experienced a certain kind of trauma, if they have a nervous tic or stim, etc.). I will almost always ask clarifying questions or check for further info if I feel I need it (ex: voice quality, drink preference), but just remember you are giving me the necessary info to write your character. This post is to bring light to some shady marketing on tumblr. This is not about an individual, but rather as a company posing as an aesthetic/meme account in order to get people to buy from their shitty drop shipping company.

I am making this post because I am sick of covert marketing and drop shippers over charging for the same stuff that can be found for cheaper and by the actual company. I am also concerned for the possible hazard of drop shipped items that need to be food safe in order to use.

Tumblr user @/my-kawaii—world is a drop shipping company pretending to be an aesthetic blogger who happens to “find” links to all the products in posts. All these links lead to the same drop shipping company website: Lavender Constellation. Under the cut is evidence to support my claim.

Wow isn’t it so cool that it’s on sale right now? Save over $60 USD? What a steal! They also offer free world-wide shipping and have a coupon code you can use. Crazy.

Upon further digging, the real teapot is the frog from the サンアート aka sunart brand, specifically from their parent and child collection. And guess what? You can get it on Amazon for less than half the price, even after the “sale”.

I looked into the brand and they seem to specifically make ceramics additionally, the options to pick less popular options that I don’t see nearly as many bootlegs of make me pretty confident this is the actual product.

This is far from the only post they’ve done this with. Looking at their blog, you’ll see a sea of ads for their original posts, all linking to the same store:

And then following the link, we get taken right back to the Lavender Constellation website:

If you go to their page, you will see a ton of other examples of this. Hell, I have even more examples, but I feel this post is long enough as is. I’m frankly fed up with people doing this shit, especially charging over double the price of an original product for a shitty knock off.

I’m not going to comment of the safety of these products (i.e., if the knock off teapot is food safe or not) because I don’t plan on buying one to test for lead, but that is a genuine risk you have when buying drop shipped products. For example, counterfeit makeup is well known for containing chemicals that can be harmful to the skin due because they’re much cheaper than the skin safe stuff. Here is a research article that discusses some of the harmful effects that unregulated, counterfeit makeup can have on your skin. The article is open access, so don’t worry about being blocked by a paywall.

Again, I don’t know if the counterfeit teapot is food safe or not, I haven’t been able to find any posts discussing the bootleg, or even Lavendar Constellation as a whole, but with stuff like this, it’s much better to be safe than sorry.

I am positive my-kawaii—world and Lavender Constellation are not the only people running operations like this on tumblr, I’m sure there are a shit ton more. Most will probably run the same way as my-kawaii—world. Essentially if you go to a page that posts a ton of cute, aesthetic products and they link to the same website for every single thing, it’s probably a drop shipping scam.

I’m not someone who thinks I’m “morally superior” for buying only name brand stuff, hell I own a few bootleg plushies, but items that need to food safe are not something I personally would fuck around with. And even if these bootlegs are food safe, the fact that they are charging over double the price of the original is so ludicrous and inexcusable.

Personally, I recommend blocking the @/my-kawaii—world account. Don’t micromanage people who have already reblogged from them unless they’re a friend, mutual, etc. Basically, don’t harass strangers who happened to reblog the original post or the edited post. Just get the word out there about this account.

Do I think my post will shut down their site and drive them off Tumblr? Probably not. But the more people that know about this specific scam and scams like it, the better.

Sorry if this take is controversial but a lot of rescues and shelters nowadays seem to not want their animals to actually get adopted and then scream at people for going to breeders. My experience with rescues has been such a pain in the ass, I tried to adopt a mouse - A SINGLE MALE MOUSE - and this rescue absolutely ran me around in circles before denying my adoption because he "developed allergies and would need long term care". Sorry but long term? He's a mouse he will live for like 2 years. I can't 😭 (EDIT: for the record they didn't even give me the option of saying I would happily give him medication for the rest of his life. They just said nope, he has allergies he's no longer adoptable. We'll refund you now. WTF. I think his foster just got attached and didn't want him to go, tbh.)

This is coming from me, a lady who has worked on and off in many different animal circles for decades. I've worked at an animal shelter and fostered many times for that shelter and other rescues. Different types of animals too. That shelter, when I was a kid, denied my family a dog adoption because our enormous yard (big enough to later erect a pool, I think it was at least half an acre) wasn't "big enough" for a 60 pound hound dog we'd fallen in love with. Never mind that we always had someone home at the time and lived in a rural suburban area great for dog walking.

Rescue applications always ask "have you ever surrendered an animal? If so, why?" and it feels so off putting. 3 page applications to adopt rodents that you may only have for 6 more months. There's wanting to make sure animals go to good homes, then there's actively not wanting animals to go anywhere while complaining you're full!

Then meanwhile you get the shelter I got my current boy mouse Moonpie from. I drove an hour to go get him. They didn't even ask an application bc I told them I had mice before and would build him a bin cage. And then they didn't even charge me for him. They were just so happy to see him adopted. I've still got that little dude!

There is NOTHING wrong with wanting to get an animal from a reputable breeder. I've even seen shaming in the reptile world and it's like. The closest reptile rescue to me is like 2 hours away and all they have is extreme special needs bearded dragons. Wtf do you want me to do when I want a fucking snake? Good lord 😭

People are shamed for rehoming animals. Shamed for getting from breeders. But then aggressively scrutinized by rescues for not being a thousand percent perfect and dedicating 1000 square feet to a single hamster. It's gotten so goddamn ridiculous. WHAT do you want people to do. There are SO many animals who need homes... I just can't.

so it turns out you dunno as much about star trek as i assumed you did (i seen you reblog a few posts about it and thought you were a bigger fan). and tho star trek is like a big ol' franchise, for that osmosis meme, i'm sending you star trek and you can do with that what you will <3

You know what Sapphire I'm going to really try and flex my brain muscles for this one! I'm gonna see if I can do the whole franchise! Welcome to A Complete History of Star Trek, as told by someone who's seen the new films, like three of the old films, and a couple episodes of the original series, and is otherwise getting all of this from their friends and people they follow on tumblr!

We start with the original star trek! It's the one everyone thinks of when they think of star trek, with kirk, spock, bones, and all them lot! It's about the crew of a spaceship in the far future who go around exploring different planets and meeting new alien species. This also appears to be the premise of every other star trek show.

Kirk is the captain of the spaceship. I have it on good authority that despite what fans and the newer installments will try to make you think, he is in fact not an annoying womanising guy but is a very nice young man who respects women (and is maybe bisexual???) good for him!

The crew also includes his second in command, Spock, who is very logical except when him and Kirk are having gay moments. Then there's Bones, who is a doctor and talks a lot about being a doctor. There's Uhura, who seems to be kind of a girlboss and is in charge of... I want to say communications? I think she was part of the first interracial kiss ever shown on tv or something like that, which is pretty cool! good on you star trek! There's also a delightful russian man named Chekov, who was my favourite part of the bits and pieces I've seen, and a guy called Sulu, who is. there. I know nothing about this man.

The show is an episodic monster of the week show, where there's a new alien/threat of some kind in each episode. These threats include alien warriors called klingons, fluffy aliens called tribbles that can multiply infinitely, and a hive mind called the borg. dear god I am really hoping the borg is a star trek thing and not like battlestar galactica. A lot of the episodes are very horny, like the one where spock has to fuck someone or he'll literally die. This is despite it being made in the 60s when being horny wasn't allowed on tv, so good on you again star trek!

They also made some films based on star trek. The first one isn't very good, the second is about a villain called khan and is great! Spock dies in it, but don't worry, he comes back in the next movie! How? Great question, don't ask me. I think kirk's son also dies in one of these movies? Does kirk have a son? Did I fever dream that?

The most important film is the one where they go back in time to the 80s to save the whales. This was my favourite of the ones I saw, but I feel like nerds might hate it. It seems too fun.

After the original series they made star trek the next generation, which is all about patrick stewart as a new ship captain called picard. Much like kirk, he also has a second in command, but his second command is very impulsive and hot headed instead of being logical, so they have kind of the opposite dynamic. At one point, picard and kirk got to meet each other in one of the films.

Picard's crew includes a robot called data, who everyone loves!! Even I love him, and I've never met this man! He's a robot, and apparently he often comes across very autistic and/or aroace, so he's really racking up points with me! Other crew members include geordi laforge, who is besties with data and is blind and wears a visor that is presumably a seeing aid of some kind, and a klingon who's not evil like the other klingons!

After the next generation came voyager! This was the first star trek show with a lady captain, which was very exciting! Her name is Janeway and Voyager is mostly about straightbaiting the audience with her and her boy best friend (and also maybe time travel?)

Voyager was followed by Deep Space Nine, which was different to the previous star treks because it was set on a space station instead of a ship. It had many characters, one of whom was an alien called Odo!

Then they made Enterprise, which was also different to all the previous star treks because it was a prequel (presumably about the original crew of the enterprise) I don't think people liked it.

Speaking of things people don't like, they made a bunch of reboot films in the 2000s and 2010s! From what I remember of them I liked them quite a bit, but this seems to be a pretty unpopular opinion. They are very different from the original series that they're based on and don't characterise Kirk correctly and also benedict cumberbatch is playing a character who was originally played by an indian guy which is pretty weird, but at least they have a banging score courtesy of michael giacchino! What happened to that guy anyway, I feel like he hasn't had a memorable score in years. Come back michael. we miss you.

In the years since the reboots they have also made a few more shows, such as a prequel about a young picard, an animated series called lower decks which is more comedic than the live action shows, and a show called brave new worlds, which is the current series! They had a trans character for a bit but they got killed off, which people were very upset about.

I’m a multiple paragraphs/novella style writer. I love to write detailed descriptions and delve into a character’s head/emotions as well as surroundings. I compare it to writing a novel together. Not every reply has to be novella length, however. If there are action or dialogue heavy scenes, I tend to do a shorter back and forth to keep the momentum going. 

I only do MxF (with me writing the female role). I don’t double, but I’m more than happy to write side characters of either gender to help move the story along. I only want female authors writing male characters as I’ve had bad experiences with cis male authors. (Trans men and nonbinary pals are exceptions).

I'm really hoping to find a friendship, someone who can add to our story, and most importantly, someone who wants a long-term connection. It's difficult for me to write with someone if I don't feel that genuine bond. It's also important to me to have a high level of activity, with at least one reply a day. 

If you suddenly stop replying ic and ooc, I'll drop the story after 2 attempts of gauging interest spaced a week apart. But feel free to message me if you want to pick the story back up again, even months later.

Plot before smut. While mature themes will be in my writing, there needs to be chemistry between our characters. I normally do a 60/40 plot to smut ratio and my characters tend to be subs/switches depending on the circumstances 

 An older male character (early forties to mid-late fifties). I love the gruff and tough men with dark pasts who secretly have a soft heart. I also love grumpy, hypermasculine men being intimidated by sweet but fiery women. My characters are mid-late twenties to early-mid thirties so the age gap is legal. 

Enthusiasm to chat about our character and ship, how to crush them and then gushing over fluffy moments. I love crying over characters and what the heck they’re doing. I want my heart ripped from my chest from angst, then feeling like it’s going to burst from overwhelming cuteness. I want us to love these characters and the world we create. I want to make pinterest boards, spotify playlists, graphics, and toss headcanons back and forth until late at night. 

Have an idea for a scene? Found a picture that inspired you? Send it to me! Be invested when it comes to plotting/worldbuilding. There’s nothing worse than receiving one sentence in reply to two paragraphs of ideas, or having a doormat partner who says “sure” to whatever I ask. Building ideas one on top of the other, watching them snowball into amazing plot threads brings me joy. But having to pull plot ideas like I’m pulling teeth makes me think you’re not interested, and I will lose interest in return.
