A Spellbinding Wedding October 8th, 2016 Stark Mansion New York City, New York (Previous One-Shot)
“So, (Y/L/N), in just a few short hours you’re gonna be officially – pause for dramatic effect – off the market! Can you tell us what exactly’s going through the beautiful bride’s head right now?”
(Y/N) briefly paused her mascara application and pretended to ponder Clint’s overly-exaggerated question. “Whether or not it would be rude of me to drop that camcorder through a portal to Muspelheim and lock you in the basement until after the ceremony.”
The archer snickered before jumping up to sit on the dresser behind her and turning the camcorder around to directly address the camera. “As you can see, your mom gets a little cranky when she has to wake up early. Not sure if that’ll go away in the future or just get worse, so…either way, good luck with that, kiddos!”
“When you volunteered to film the ceremony and parts of the reception for us, I really should’ve questioned it more.” (Y/N) resumed applying her mascara while fighting back a smile. “At least any future children of ours will watch this, see just how ridiculous their Uncle Clint is and know that we weren’t exaggerating. Oh! Speaking of children, are Peter’s friends here yet? Tony was supposed to send Happy into Queens to pick them up an hour ago, but I haven’t heard anything about them since.”
“Yeah, they’re all hanging out in the old lab downstairs and Tony’s helping ‘em prep their sound equipment as we speak; you and Loki do know that there’s literally thousands of professional DJ’s living in New York you could’ve hired to run your wedding reception that aren’t sixteen and can actually drive themselves to their venues, right?”
“Says the friend of ours who practically begged to be the videographer even though he’s a professional archer by trade…” She mumbled under her breath, twisting the mascara wand back into its tube just as someone knocked on her suite’s door. “Come in!”
The door opened and Natasha popped her head into the room, her long red hair still wrapped in curlers, a clipboard in her hands and a comm link secured in her ear. The spy was taking her many duties as Matron of Honor very seriously, treating the day’s celebration as if it were a highly-classified mission and not a mid-sized wedding located at Tony’s family mansion; each of their teammates had been assigned specific duties and responsibilities and throughout the morning, Natasha regularly checked in with them to ensure that their tasks were going smoothly, which explained why she was shooting Clint the trademark glare she normally reserved for Hydra agents and invading aliens. “Last I checked, Barton, you’re supposed to be overseeing the florists in the garden and not raising the bride’s blood pressure right before the wedding.”
Clint jumped down from the dresser and raised his hands in surrender. “Okay, okay, no need to go all Black Widow on me, Tasha.” He crossed the room and pressed a chaste kiss onto (Y/N)’s cheek before winking at her through the vanity’s mirror. “I’ll see you at the altar, (Y/L/N)!”
Natasha gave the archer one final glare as he hurried out of the suite while whistling ‘Chapel of Love’ and shook her head when the door closed behind him. “I swear, I’m gonna have to start using my Widow Bites on these people if they don’t start being more helpful…” The spy turned her attention to (Y/N) and her concentrated frown morphed into a smile. “Aw (Y/N), you look stunning and you haven’t even put on your dress yet! I’m serious, it’s like you’re glowing or-” She cut herself off and held a hand up to her ear to listen to a voice in her comm. “Wait a sec, Bruce says that the caterers just arrived. Did you want me to get you anything before I check in on them?”
“Is it too early in the day for a glass of champagne?”
“Not if there’s a splash of orange juice in it,” Natasha answered with a mischievous grin. “I’ll be back before you know it!”
The door closed behind the spy and for the first time that morning, the room fell silent. (Y/N) sat back in her seat and let out a sigh of relief; she loved her friends and teammates dearly, of course, but all she wanted to do was prepare for the wedding in peace and with as little stress as possible. The wedding was slightly larger than they’d originally anticipated, with over a hundred guests from Midgard, Asgard and Alfheim all gathered together at one of Tony Stark’s family mansions in the heart of New York City, and with the ink still drying on the three realms’ fledgling peace treaties, handling the guests and ensuring that they remain peaceful would be a difficult task to carry out on a day already filled to the brim with difficult tasks. So far, her friends were doing an excellent job with ensuring that everything was running smoothly but after living the life of a superhero for over a year, she knew just how quickly a situation could shift from calm to catastrophic.
“I wonder of Loki’s feeling just as anxious about all this as I am,” (Y/N) murmured to herself, giving the photograph of her soon-to-be husband she’d tucked into the edge of her vanity’s mirror a smile before setting her sights on her un-styled hair, hoping that the intricate task would serve to distract her from the butterflies fluttering in her stomach.

“Brother, what exactly is this gloopy green substance?”
“It’s an avocado and green tea mud mask.”
“…And why have we applied it to our faces?”
“It removes impurities from the skin while unclogging pores and absorbing excess oil.” Before Thor had a chance to ask another question, Loki brusquely continued. “Yes, it’s meant to relax you and no, you cannot eat it.”
Instead of becoming annoyed by Loki’s shortness, his brother chuckled. “In that case, these mud masks must be defective because you’re anything but relaxed, brother.” With a defeated sigh, Loki removed the cucumber slices resting on his eyelids and sat up, tossing the slices into the nearby trashcan and making his way into the suite’s bathroom to wash the half-dried mud mask off; he was halfway done when Thor entered and leaned against the door-frame, a look of concern visible even beneath his own thick mud mask. “Loki, are you all right? You haven’t been yourself all morning, and it’s beginning to worry me. You’re not having second thoughts about the wedding, are you?”
“No! No, of course not,” Loki emphatically shook his head. “I’ve been waiting for this day for quite a long time, believe me, but I…well, it’s an awfully significant life change, isn’t it? I know that what I’m feeling is only a natural reaction to such a change, of course, but a part of me can’t help but wonder if I’m even deserving of this life I’m about to embark on with (Y/N).”
His brother nodded in understanding. “I believe that Wilson refers to them as intrusive thoughts; unwelcome, involuntary thoughts with no basis in truth or fact that can manifest as a result of several forms of trauma.” When Loki raised his brows in surprise, Thor sighed and rolled his eyes in mild exasperation. “Believe it or not, brother, I do listen to what others say when they’re around me. The important point to be made is that they’re wrong; as your designated Best Man, it’s my duty to ease these irrational worries of yours and I believe that I have just the thing!”
Thor disappeared into the bedroom and quickly returned with an ornate bottle and two glasses, and Loki’s jaw nearly dropped at the sight of the familiar flagon. “That’s one of Asgard’s last remaining bottles of the great Hoder’s spiced mead. It’s to be drunk on the most special of occasions and only with the Allfather’s express permission…”
“I took a page out of your book and simply borrowed a bottle on my way out of the palace.” The older man grinned proudly at his uncharacteristic act of subterfuge and Loki couldn’t help but chuckle. “The Allfather might not agree, but my brother’s wedding and all the happiness it will surely bring him is a special occasion.”
As Loki’s throat burned and he fought back the sudden tears brought on by his brother’s support, he watched as Thor poured the amber-colored liquid out into the two glasses and pressed one into his hand, the corner of his mouth curving upwards while he raised the glass. “Well then, to happiness.”
“To happiness,” Thor echoed, and the two brothers clinked their glasses together before downing the spiced mead in one go. “Another!”
There was a gentle knock on the suite’s door and Frigga’s voice called out, “Loki? Thor?”
“Oh, Hel!”
Both men scrambled to hide the evidence of their treasonous transgression, shoving the spiced mead and glasses unceremoniously under the sink and rushing out of the bathroom to open the door for their mother; the Queen of Asgard was dressed spectacularly in a pale turquoise dress and matching wide-brimmed hat, looking just as elegant in Midgardian clothing as she always did on Asgard. Frigga was beaming as she stepped into the suite and reached up to hold Loki’s face between her hands. “Oh, I can hardly believe that my darling little one is getting married today, and to such a wonderful young woman as well! How are you feeling, Loki? Have you eaten anything at all?”
“I’m fine, Mother, just a little anxious.” Loki matched her infectious smile with one of his own. “After all, it’s not every day that three realms of the cosmos come together to celebrate a wedding.”
“You don’t have anything to worry about, because your brother and your friends are doing such an excellent job at keeping everything running smoothly.” Frigga gave them both a knowing look. “Perhaps another glass of Hoder’s spiced mead will soothe your nerves? Now, be a dear and make mine a double, please.”
Loki and Thor exchanged a wide-eyed look of surprise as their mother crossed the suite and began brushing the stray pieces of lint off their suit jackets hanging near the window, humming a cheerful tune to herself as she did.

Pulling back to admire her handiwork, (Y/N) smiled brightly and twirled Cassie’s chair around to face her vanity’s mirror. “There, all finished! What do you think, Cassie?”
Their flower girl-slash-ring bearer squealed in joy and turned to her with the widest smile on her glittering face. “It’s so pretty! I love it!” She threw her arms around her middle and tightly hugged her. “Do I look like a fairy from Alf…Alf…?”
“Alfheim? I’m not sure, actually, I’ve never seen a fairy there before.” Shrugging, (Y/N) glanced over at Elora, who was preoccupied with unzipping the large garment bag containing her wedding dress. “Elora has, though! Haven’t you, Elora?”
The General of the Alfheimian Army looked up from her task with a small shudder. “Unfortunately. The little beasts possess needle-sharp teeth and use their woodland magic to mask their presence right before viciously attacking any who dare trespass into their domain.”
(Y/N)’s eyes widened in alarm but before she could chastise the Alfheimian for her bluntness, Cassie clapped her hands together and let out a delighted laugh. “That is so cool!”
A knock on her suite’s door drew (Y/N) away from Elora and Cassie’s animated discussion of the various magical beasts that lived on Alfheim, and she opened the door to reveal Sam and Bucky; both men were already dressed in their suits, minus their floral boutonnieres, but her calm demeanor vanished when she caught sight of the panicked expressions they were desperately trying to mask. “Okay, what’s wrong?”
“Wrong? Nothing’s wrong, doll-”
“Yeah, everything’s goin’ according to plan, (Y/L/N), promise-”
“Nat had us come up here to…um…”
“To see if you needed any help with…anything.”
She arched an unimpressed brow that almost instantly silenced both men. “Do I really have to ask you two again?”
“…Scott lost the wedding rings!” (Y/N)’s jaw dropped and Bucky let out an indignant noise as Sam raised his hands in surrender. “Sorry, Buck, but she’s got the same death glare my mom used to give me! Yeah, Scott put the rings down and now he can’t find them anywhere, and he can’t even use the ants to help ‘cause he didn’t bring his suit along.”
The super soldier hastily added, “Nat’s trying her best to jog his memory, but…well, you know Nat. I think she might end up making the poor guy faint before finding out where he might’ve lost the rings.”
“Okay, okay…” Rubbing her temples in an attempt to quell the rapidly-growing headache, (Y/N) took a steadying breath and forced herself to remain calm as she began formulating a plan. “All right, my hair and makeup’s already done, so let me find some slippers and we’ll go find Nat and Scott. I might be able to use my Alf Seidr to try and find them-” Both Sam and Bucky breathed a sigh of relief. “-But not a word of this to Loki, okay? The last thing he needs today is any added stress…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Arching a curious brow, Loki examined the items laid out on the coffee table before glancing up at his teammates. “This is a Midgardian tradition? It seems a little silly that these random objects can determine the outcome of a marriage.”
“Yeah, it’s a good luck thing here on Earth, Lokes, like that old Saints jersey Sam wears during every football season.” Clint held up the camcorder and pointed the lens at Loki as he continued. “Your dad’s a pretty smart guy, kiddos, but don’t let that fool you; he once thought your mom was dying when she was only having a little brain freeze. Remember, Lokes?”
“Children, if you’ve ever wondered why your mother once attempted to hit your dear Uncle Clint over the head with a coffee-table book, then now you know,” Loki snickered as the archer flushed pink and rolled his eyes.
A reluctant smile played on Steve’s lips while he finished fastening his cuff-links across the suite. “I hate to say it, but Barton’s right about it being good luck here. ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.’ Your mother gifted you a set of cloak clasps for today so that’s your ‘something old,’ your tuxedo counts as your ‘something new,’ Tony’s lending you one of his nicer Rolex watches for your ‘something borrowed,’ and your ‘something blue’ are the navy blue suspenders you’re wearing.”
Loki hummed in interest. “I suppose that a little extra luck wouldn’t go amiss…”
Just as he slipped the borrowed Rolex onto his wrist, a visibly panicked Thor burst into the suite and made a bee-line to Steve. “Captain Rogers, there’s an urgent matter that I must speak to you about!”
“If it’s that Tony wrote a borderline explicit speech to read at the reception, then we all know and Nat already took care of-”
“No, no, it’s not that, but we really should discuss this matter out in the hall-”
“What is it, Thor?” Loki asked, tilting his head in confusion as he took in his brother’s unusually pale face and arching a disapproving brow when he proceeded to badly explain away his concern. “Brother, surely you haven’t forgotten that I’m the God of Lies? Whatever it is, I’m sure that we’ll be able to handle it before the ceremony begins.”
Thor swallowed and anxiously bit his lip before blurting out, “A wizard is currently battling a space worm out on the lawn.”
“What?!” Loki, Steve and Clint all exclaimed in unison.
“It just appeared out of nowhere and started wreaking havoc across the grounds, but then a wizard stepped out of a portal and started fighting it! Stark and Rhodes are already on their way to help but it seems that the beast is indestructible!”
With his jaw clenched tight in mounting agitation, Loki stood from his seat and summoned his emerald-green magic. “Not if I have anything to say about it.” A shimmer of light enveloped his body and in the blink of an eye, his wedding attire morphed into his Asgardian battle armor and daggers appeared in his grasp. “The beast and this so-called wizard will soon regret the very moment they dared to step foot on this property.”
Steve shrugged off his tuxedo jacket and reached for the red, white and blue shield propped up beside one of the suite’s armchair. “Barton, keep the caterers and florists away from the lawn, and make sure the guests stay inside and away from the windows.”
“On it.”
“And not a word of this to (Y/N), all right?” All three men nodded in agreement and Loki’s grip tightened around the hilts of his daggers. “The last thing she needs today is any added stress…”
As the trio of men hurried outside, a part of Loki wondered if he’d been tricked into believing that a cosmic monster was in the process of battling a sorcerer and that it was all some sort of elaborate prank concocted by his brother and friends to ease his pre-wedding jitters. However, that spark of hope was quickly extinguished when Steve threw the back door open and was forced to jump back to avoid being struck by Rhodes’ flailing body falling from the sky.
“Oh, I’m definitely gonna feel that one for a couple of days,” Rhodes groaned in pain and allowed Steve to hoist his armor-clad body to his feet. “Either of you guys wanna tell me what an ugly-ass space worm is doing here in New York? ‘Cause it’s definitely not here to wish the bride and groom its best!”
The familiar sound of repulsor blasts intermingled with the booming roars caused all four men to turn and watch as Tony darted around the tentacles of an enormous pink creature and a dark-haired man wearing a burgundy cape conjured orange-hued magic to counter its vicious attacks. “Earth has second-rate sorcerers now, how delightful…” Loki rolled his eyes and turned to the others. “It’s an Abilisk, a cosmic creature that feeds off significantly-sized energy sources, and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if that cheap magician down there summoned it here out of pure incompetency.”
“Let’s deal with the Abilisk first, brother, and then we’ll confront the wizard later!” With a burst of lightning, Thor flew off towards the enraged creature and attempted to slam Mjolnir against its skull, but he was quickly swatted aside by one of its flailing tentacles.
Loki and Steve exchanged a look with Rhodes before joining the battle; the Air Force colonel attempted to shoot it with one of his suit’s many guns but was unsuccessful due to the creature’s impenetrable hide and no matter how twisted its own tentacles became due to the super soldier’s impressive athleticism, the beast remained standing and overwhelmingly angry. After throwing a handful of emerald-green magic at a tentacle to stop it from slamming into Steve’s back, Loki looked over to see the bearded sorcerer performing a spell nearby. “Care to introduce yourself and explain why you’ve brought an Abilisk to my wedding?” He yelled over the creature’s deafening roars.
“My name’s Doctor Stephen Strange, I’m a Master of the Mystic Arts, the guardian of the New York Sanctum in Greenwich Village and I most certainly did not summon an Abilisk here!” The sorcerer shouted back as he threw two semi-circular protective shields at the Abilisk’s face, where they exploded on impact and disoriented the enraged creature further. “Someone here at this mansion opened an inter-dimensional portal and let this creature come through, and as soon I arrived to send it back, my sling-ring was stolen from me by an unchecked summoning spell!”
“Sling-ring?”
“Yes, it’s what allows me to channel the magic needed to open inter-dimensional portals between any two points within the universe and without it, I can’t send the Abilisk back to where it came from!”
Loki was quickly filled with a sneaking suspicion about the whereabouts of the sorcerer’s sling-ring, but he prayed to the Norns that he was wrong as he called out to the others, “Does anyone here have access to Romanoff’s comm link? I think she may be able to shed some much-needed light on the situation!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The air around (Y/N) crackled and hummed with magical energy as she used her Alf Seidr to sense her surroundings and a familiar tugging sensation in her stomach preceded a strange weight in her outstretched left hand. She opened her eyes and her excitement instantly turned to annoyance when she was met with the sight of yet another unfamiliar ring; the one resting on her open palm looked different from the rest, almost reminding her of a pair of brass knuckles but with strange etchings across its bronzed surface. “Well, this definitely isn’t what I’m seeking…” She tossed the object into the basket of other rings she’d inadvertently summoned while searching for the lost wedding rings and sighed. “Do any of you have any bright ideas?”
Scott, Natasha, Sam and Bucky all shook their heads from their spots across the laboratory, and the ex-convict was the first to speak. “I-I’m really, really sorry about this, (Y/N), I didn’t mean to-”
“It’s okay, Scott, I know you didn’t mean to lose the rings…” (Y/N) rubbed her temple in an effort to quell her raging stress-induced headache as she considered what to do next. “I’ll just have to try the spell again, then maybe it will-”
“Tony?” They all looked over to see a frowning Natasha listening to her comm link. “Okay, slow down, I can’t hear what you’re…wait, what wizard ring? Yeah, Scott lost the rings and (Y/N)’s been using her magic to try and find ‘em, but…” The spy’s eyes widened and her jaw dropped at whatever the billionaire was saying through the comm. “Oh shit.”
(Y/N) frowned. “What is it, Nat?”
Before Natasha could answer, the wall nearest to (Y/N) suddenly exploded and she had just enough time to summon a protective bubble of magic to encase them as chunks of stone and debris began raining down. The dust was beginning to settle when she flicked her wrists to remove the shield, her brows rising in surprise as she recognized her future brother-in-law extricating himself from the rubble. Thor’s blue eyes widened comically when he spotted her standing before him and he swallowed nervously before giving her a small wave. “H-Hello, Lady (Y/N). Shouldn’t you be off preparing for the ceremony?”
“What’s going on, Thor?”
“Nothing, nothing, just an intense arm-wrestling match with your delightful Alfheimian friends; for one so small, Myriani has quite the arm!”
“Thor.”
Natasha stepped forward and gestured towards the comm link in her ear. “According to Tony, there’s a giant space worm wreaking havoc on the lawn that you unintentionally summoned here with your Alf Seidr, and the only person who can get rid of it is a wizard-doctor who lives in Greenwich Village but you accidentally stole his magic ring.”
“God, just put me back in the damn ice…” Bucky groaned as he dropped his head into his vibranium hand.
Sam reached into the basket of rings and withdrew the odd-looking shape made of engraved brass. “I’m no expert on wizards, (Y/L/N), but this kinda looks like it could be magical to me.”
(Y/N) took the ring from Sam and with a wave of her hand, she transformed her silk robe and slippers into her Cosmic Sorceress uniform and marched through the hole in the laboratory wall. There was indeed a towering pink-skinned creature flailing its many tentacles as her friends and teammates fought their hardest against it; Tony and Rhodey were firing their suit’s repulsors and dodging its tentacles in the air while Steve, Loki and an odd-looking man wearing a red cloak tried all they could to draw the creature’s attention away from the mansion. Ignoring the guilt beginning to eat away at her, (Y/N) strode across the lawn and called out over the deafening roars, “Doctor, catch!”
The wizard-doctor looked over and raised his hand just in time to catch his ring, quickly slipping it into his fingers and rotating his hands in a circular motion to create a sparking orange portal directly beneath the creature; it released a final roar as it dropped down into the portal and disappeared, leaving the grounds of Stark Mansion silent. The stranger closed the portal he’d opened and breathed a sigh of relief before setting his sights on an embarrassed (Y/N). “Your royal highness, would you care to explain what’s going on and why you took my sling ring?”
(Y/N) fidgeted with her finger-less gloves and attempted to smile, but it appeared as more of a grimace. “First of all, I’m very sorry for all the trouble this has caused you, Doctor…”
“Strange. Doctor Stephen Strange, Master of the Mystic Arts and the guardian of the New York Sanctum.” They shook hands and she silently took note of the unique magical energy radiating from him. “You’re (Y/N) (Y/L/N), former trainee librarian turned Cosmic Sorceress, the Crown Princess of Alfheim, daughter of the Alfheimian Layeia Tilasdottir and the very-human David (Y/L/N), descendant of the esteemed Lady Astrid, designated representative between the Light Elves and the Nine Realms of the cosmos, and the Defender of the Realm of Alfheim.”
Taking a step back, (Y/N) arched a questioning brow and fought the sudden urge to summon her magic or even her sword. “For someone I’ve never met, you certainly know an awful lot about me.”
Doctor Strange shrugged. “I make it my business to keep an eye on beings that pose the largest threats to this world and I have to say, you’re quite high on my list.”
“Well, like I was saying, Doctor, all of this has a very simple if not embarrassing explanation-”
“(Y/N)!” They both turned to see Loki and their friends hurrying towards them; their tuxedos were covered in grass stains and an odd multicolored slime, and her fiancé’s emerald-green eyes were filled with worry as he gently held her shoulders and leaned down to meet her gaze. “Darling, are you all right? What happened?”
As the rest of their friends and even some of their guests began making their way across the lawn, (Y/N)’s embarrassment grew and she brought a hand up to partially hide her face. “Scott misplaced the rings and I thought I could use my magic to find them, but my anxiety must’ve led to me opening a portal and then the strength of my spell accidentally took Doctor Strange’s sling ring, and…well, you know the rest. I still have no idea why I wasn’t able to summon our rings; it’s almost as if something was blocking my magic…” Loki paled at her words and it was (Y/N)’s turn to be concerned. “Loki?”
“This situation, um…it may not entirely be your fault, darling.” Her fiancé chuckled awkwardly and rubbed his neck as he glanced over at where Scott, his girlfriend Hope Van Dyne and Cassie were all standing near Elora. “You see, I assumed that Lang might misplace the rings so before I started getting ready, I placed an enchantment on them and as an added precaution, I instructed Barton to give Lang an empty ring box and give the real ones to-”
“Hey, guys! Cassie had the rings the whole time!" Scott shouted and gave a giggling Cassie a celebratory fist-bump. “Either my little peanut’s becoming a better thief than her old man, or someone didn’t trust me with ‘em in the first place. Probably the second one, huh?”
With an incredulous laugh, (Y/N) allowed a chuckling Loki to pull her into his arms and shook her head in disbelief. “Does that mean we ruined our own wedding?”
“My dear, you both haven’t ruined a single thing,” Frigga reassured her as she walked up to them and gave her shoulder a comforting squeeze. “Your friends and guests are still here, all of them safe and unharmed, and the sun is shining brightly in the sky. Why shouldn’t your wedding continue as planned?”
A stern-looking Doctor Strange raised a hand and answered, “Because Miss (Y/L/N) here nearly caused the destruction of New York with her unchecked magic and a mass hysteria the likes of which hasn’t been seen since his invasion. Such an act, even one as accidental as you claim this one to be, cannot go unexamined and unpunished.”
(Y/N) bit her lip while Loki rolled his eyes and opened his mouth to counter his words, but his mother’s hand on his arm silenced him as she turned to Doctor Strange with a brilliant smile. “It’s very nice to meet you, Doctor Stephen Strange of Midgard; I am Frigga, the Queen of Asgard and mother to Loki and Thor. My dear future daughter-in-law has recently obtained an extraordinary amount of Alf Seidr that she’s still training to control and seeing as today’s her long-awaited wedding day, it’s quite understandable that her focus was shaken.” Frigga sympathetically rubbed (Y/N)’s back and took a moment to adjust her uniform’s purple-hued tiara before returning her attention to the sorcerer. “Now, I’m sure that a highly-skilled Master of the Mystic Arts such as yourself would be honored to utilize the Time Stone hanging around your neck and repair the damage caused by the creature, so as to ease Lady (Y/N)’s frazzled nerves and prevent any other unfortunate accidents from occurring.”
Doctor Strange blinked in surprise. “Um…”
“For your valiant defense of this realm, Asgard recognizes you as one of its trusted allies and speaking as the mother of the groom, I would personally be honored if you joined us for today’s celebration of Loki and Lady (Y/N)’s nuptials.”
“That’s, um…thank you, Queen Frigga, for extending an invitation to me…I-I’d be honored to attend…” The sorcerer’s cheeks flushed pink and he tried his hardest to avoid making eye-contact with the beautiful goddess in front of him. “I’ll start on the repairs right away…”
While a flushed Doctor Strange started using the power of the Time Stone to reverse the damages to their friends’ tuxedos first, (Y/N) turned to look between Frigga and Loki as her stunned expression morphed into a grin. “You really did inherit your Silvertongue from your mother, didn’t you?”
“So it would seem,” Loki replied and leaned down to press a kiss onto his mother’s cheek. “Thank you for intervening on our behalf, Mother.”
Frigga’s blue eyes twinkled with some mischief of her own as she gave them a conspiratorial wink. “Of course, little one. I was raised by witches who taught me many invaluable lessons, among which was that diplomacy and deceit are two sides of the very same coin.”
After the Queen of Asgard went to supervise the sorcerer as he repaired the lawn and floral arrangements surrounding the white gazebo that they’d soon exchange their vows within, (Y/N) spotted Clint filming the aftermath of the battle and giggled. “This’ll be a fun memory to share with our future children: How Mom and Dad’s magical shenanigans nearly wrecked their own wedding.”
Loki laughed. “After listening to Stark read me an online article chronicling several common wedding day horrors, ours was relatively tame by comparison.” He gave her forehead a lingering kiss before meeting her gaze with a tender smile. “Are you ready to get married, my love?”
“More than ready, sweetheart.” (Y/N) slipped her hand into her fiancé’s and swung their arms as they made their way into the mansion to finish getting ready for their wedding ceremony.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An hour and over a dozen magical repairs later, Loki and Thor stood outside on the mansion’s veranda with Cassie Lang, keeping the flower girl-slash-ring bearer entertained and patiently waiting for (Y/N) and Natasha to finish their last-minute preparations so the ceremony could begin.
The guests were all seated and talking amongst themselves while they enjoyed the late afternoon sunlight breaking through the fluffy white clouds; the only people not seated in the rows of benches were General Elora – who would be officiating the ceremony, as it mainly drew from ancient Alfheimian customs – and Peter, MJ and Ned; the young woman graciously volunteered to play the guitar while they walked down the aisle, and her two best friends were keeping her company as she perched herself on a wooden stool beside the gazebo’s steps. Floral arrangements comprised of green and lavender Dahlias and branches of fern lined the aisle and hung gracefully off the ends of the sculpted wooden benches, while vines of green ivy and lilacs wrapped around the gazebo’s posts and railing. The interior of the gazebo was illuminated with dozens of twinkling fairy lights that were set to brighten as the sun started to set, and lanterns of battery-powered candles hung from each nearby bush and tree.
Embracing a mixture of Asgardian and Midgardian traditions, Loki was dressed in a tailored black tuxedo with an emerald-green cloak fastened to his jacket by the engraved golden clasps his mother gifted him, and he wore a floral crown of blooming laurels and leaves. On Asgard, one’s future spouse chose the flowers that best represented their intended and after much deliberation, (Y/N) picked the laurel for its many symbolic meanings; the laurel symbolized nobility, intelligence and an acknowledgement of the new phase he was entering by marrying her. Quite a flattering choice on her part, he thought with a reserved smile as he conjured another tiny burst of fireworks for Cassie’s amusement.
“Perhaps one day, young Cassie, my brother will show you how he can transform into any animal one could imagine,” Thor remarked to Cassie as he took a moment to readjust his green pocket-square.
The little girl’s eyes widened in amazement and she quickly turned to face Loki. “Can you turn into an ant?!”
Loki blinked in surprise as Thor stifled a chuckle behind his hand. “Um, well…now that you mention it, I haven’t actually tried.”
“Oh. I like ants. The ones that my daddy works with are really nice!”
Watching Cassie suddenly switch from talking about ants to twirling around in her soft green dress, a part of Loki hoped that his and (Y/N)’s future children shared the little girl’s quirky enthusiasm and unapologetic sense of wonder. The sound of the veranda’s glass door opening caused Loki to turn around and when he did, he was met with the jaw-dropping sight of his fiancée. (Y/N)’s off-white wedding dress – impeccably designed for her by Luke Jacobson – was relatively simplistic, with a fitted bust that cinched at the waist and flared out into a flowing skirt that reached the floor, but what elevated the entire look from simplistic to enchanting were its unique details; a lace overlay of hand-sewn floral designs was fastened onto the bust, branching out into fluttering sleeves that hung down to her biceps, and the only jewelry she wore besides her engagement ring was a delicate pair of pearl earrings she inherited from her late aunt. Her hair was arranged into one of her favorite styles and on the top of her head, she wore a floral crown comprised of white Camellia blooms; he’d picked them for her because they symbolized admiration, respect and everlasting love and devotion. A veil of lace-trimmed white chiffon was attached to the back of the floral crown, hanging gracefully down her back and barely brushing the floor. The finishing touch was the bouquet she was clutching in her hands; it was comprised of laurel, white Camellia blooms, lavender and lilac-colored roses and dusty green foliage.
“Darling…” Loki approached her almost reverently and stood before her with a dazed smile on his face. “I truly am the luckiest man in all the Nine Realms, to find myself marrying such an ethereal goddess as you.”
(Y/N) shyly ducked her head before reaching a hand up to straighten one of his cloak clasps. “You must be a mind-reader, then, because I was just thinking the same thing about you.”
His lips chastely caressed her knuckles as Natasha stepped onto the veranda with a small basket of multicolored flower petals and a small bouquet of her own; the Matron of Honor was dressed in a simple lilac-colored gown, with her long red curls pinned up in an elegant style by a single white Dahlia and glittering silver heels on her feet. “Save the kissing for later, lovebirds, we’ve got a wedding ceremony to begin.” Mindful of her gown, the spy bent down and held the basket out for Cassie to take. “Okay, Lang, just like we practiced.”
“I’m on it,” Cassie replied, toothily grinning and giving Natasha a thumbs-up before taking the basket from her and allowing the spy to quickly adjust (Y/N)’s veil.
“Are you two ready?” After Loki and (Y/N) nodded, Natasha held a hand up to her comm link and spoke lowly into it, “All right, kid, let’s do this thing.”
Across the way, MJ nodded and gestured for her friends to take their seats, spending a moment adjusting her guitar’s shoulder strap before beginning to softly play. The guests’ conversations started to dim down and with a nod of confirmation from the spy, Cassie walked across the lawn and started to slowly make her way down the aisle, scattering flower petals along the way while her father beamed with pride from his seat.
Thor leaned down to give (Y/N)’s forehead a chaste kiss and clapped a hand on Loki’s shoulder, his blue eyes sparkling with happiness as he allowed Natasha to loop her arm around his. “See you in a minute.”
Natasha winked at them and with that, the Best Man and the Matron of Honor began their walk down the aisle; when they ascended the gazebo’s steps and took their respective places, (Y/N) slipped her hand into Loki’s and he squeezed it tight as they crossed the lawn to stand at the end of the aisle. Once the guests all stood and turned to face them, Loki and (Y/N) exchanged a smile before starting down the aisle hand-in-hand; long before they knew it was Alfheimian tradition that the bride and groom walk themselves down the aisle on their wedding day, (Y/N) pointed out that since they’d both be entering into marriage with one another, it only made sense that they’d choose to walk down the aisle together.
While they slowly walked down the aisle as MJ played a gentle love ballad on her guitar, Loki looked out at their friends, teammates and colleagues standing amongst the guests to distract himself from the butterflies beginning to flutter around his stomach. Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Everett Ross and Doctor Helen Cho stood alongside everyone they invited from S.H.I.E.L.D., the director giving them both an approving nod as they passed by; Steven Grant – the quirky man they’d met while on vacation in Egypt and to whom (Y/N) was a devoted pen-pal – stood beside Layla El-Fouley, his alter Marc Spector’s stunning wife, and for the briefest moment, Loki could even see the skeletal figure of Khonshu lingering by one of the distant trees; their new and reluctant friend Doctor Stephen Strange, now dressed in a simple black tuxedo instead of his sorcerer’s robes, stood beside his fellow sorcerer Wong and attempted to not look as uncomfortable as he presumably felt amongst so many superheroes; Peter Parker and Ned Leeds were trying their hardest not to seem too excited to be sharing a row with Doctor Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis, and Loki could hear (Y/N) stifle a giggle when the eccentric woman winked and fired finger-guns at them; Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne’s attention was caught between watching Loki and (Y/N) make their way down the aisle and keeping an eye on Cassie standing on the gazebo beside Thor, while Bucky and Sam both smiled widely at them as they passed; Bruce stood beside his cousin Jennifer Walters, who was already flirtatiously eyeing an embarrassed Rhodey standing across the aisle, while Pepper elbowed a snickering Tony; Steve and Clint stood at one of the front rows, the super soldier beaming with happiness and the archer filming their procession with his camcorder.
At the front of Loki’s side of the aisle stood their Asgardian and Alfheimian friends and family. Fandral winked at him and Sif grinned widely as Volstagg toasted them with the chocolate bar he was snacking on and even the ever-stoic Hogun gave them an atypical smile. Queen Amirah of Alfheim stood beside her guards, Hagen and Myriani, and the afternoon sunlight make her blue opal tiara sparkle almost as much as her smile, and at the end of the row stood Frigga, who was dabbing at her tear-filled eyes with a handkerchief as they walked past and ascended the gazebo’s steps.
Elora patiently waited for all the guests to take their seats to begin. “We are gathered here to witness the union of Crown Princess (Y/N) Layeiadottir (Y/L/N) of Alfheim and Midgard and Prince Loki of Asgard, two halves of the same shining soul, in blessed matrimony. Do both parties stand here of your own free will to acknowledge the eternal bond shared by the both of you?”
“We do,” Loki and (Y/N) replied in unison.
“Then you may face one another, join hands and recite your written vows.”
After (Y/N) handed her bouquet over to Natasha and placed her hands in Loki’s, she took a steadying breath before smiling up at him. “Loki. Through all the tears and all the struggles we’ve overcome together, a part of me always knew that we were destined to make it here. My heart was yours the moment I first looked into your beautiful eyes and as I look into them now, I can see every ounce of the passion and devotion I feel for you reflected in them. Sweetheart, you’re my greatest love and the brightest light in my life, and I promise to love and cherish you from here to eternity as your wife.”
Loki swallowed the lump in his throat and forced himself not to cry as he started speaking his own vows. “(Y/N). Not a day goes by where I don’t count myself the luckiest man in all the Nine Realms to have the love of someone as utterly magnificent as you. In the beginning of our romance, I feared that you were too good to be true, that I couldn’t possibly be deserving of someone so pure and loving as you are. But here we stand, surrounded by our friends and family, and I feel proud and incredibly blessed to become your husband. My darling, you’re my lover, my best friend and my eternal soulmate. All I am is yours, and here before our friends, our family and the Norns themselves, I vow to be until the end of time.”
(Y/N)’s eyes were filled with unshed tears and although Loki’s gaze never left hers, he could hear the sniffles and rustling of Kleenex packages amongst their guests. “(Y/N), do you take Loki to be your husband, to cherish in love and in friendship, in strength and in weakness, in success and disappointment, to love him faithfully today, tomorrow and forever?”
“I do,” (Y/N) vowed and smiled widely up at him.
“Loki, do you take (Y/N) to be your wife, to cherish in love and in friendship, in strength and in weakness, in success and disappointment, to love her faithfully today, tomorrow and forever?”
Loki solemnly nodded as he vowed, “I do.”
“And now, for the rings.”
Cassie nodded, handing one ring to Natasha and the other to Thor before giving her father an excited wave, causing a ripple of giggles through the rows of guests; the spy handed (Y/N) the ring and her eyes flicked between his and the thin band she held as she recited the ceremony’s next words. “I present to you this ring as a symbol of my devotion.” She slipped the band onto his ring finger to rest above his gold engagement ring. “My body, my soul and my everlasting love I share with you always and forever.”
Accepting the ring that his brother handed him, Loki gave (Y/N) another smile before reciting, “I present to you this ring as a symbol of my devotion.” He slipped the band onto her finger above her sparkling engagement ring. “My body, my soul and my everlasting love I share with you always and forever.”
“May these symbols of your devotion serve to always remind you of your everlasting bond.” Elora’s golden-colored eyes were slowly misting over as she spoke, no doubt wishing that (Y/N)’s late mother and father could be there to witness their only child be married. “And now, by the power vested in me by my rank as General of the Alfheimian Army, it is my honor to declare you both married. Go forth and live each day of your lives together to the fullest. You may seal this declaration with a kiss.”
Beaming with happiness, (Y/N) stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips against Loki’s in a brief but passionate kiss that he was quick to reciprocate. For one singular blissful moment, everything and everyone around them faded away and they stood alone on the gazebo, sharing a sweet and loving kiss that symbolized their long-awaited unification as husband and wife. The cheering and applause from their guests brought Loki back to reality sooner than he would’ve liked but after reminding himself that they’d have plenty of time to be alone later, he ended their kiss and gave his wife a mischievous smile before scooping her up in his arms and spinning around while she burst into joyous laughter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To say that the wedding reception was one of the liveliest parties (Y/N) had ever attended would be an understatement. From the moment they were declared husband and wife, she felt as through she’d been whisked straight into a dream that seemingly had no end to it; once they finished having their wedding photographs taken, they spent a half an hour by themselves in one of Stark Mansion’s many living rooms, enjoying several slices of pizza (and lots of kisses, of course) and taking time to relax for the first time that day while the guests filtered into the ballroom for the reception.
After (Y/N) and Loki snuck into the beautifully-decorated ballroom and made their rounds around the tables to greet their guests as they enjoyed their dinner, the trio of teenagers they’d allowed to be their DJ’s took their places behind their equipment and announced the bride and groom’s first dance as husband and wife; they both had fun watching their guests’ reactions when, instead of some sort of romantic waltz or ballad, they danced along to the fast-paced disco hit ‘You’re The First, The Last, My Everything,’ spinning and twirling so much around the dance floor that (Y/N) was thankful she’d removed her floral crown and veil and that Loki had dressed down to just his black tuxedo.
The guests took to the dance floor once dinner was cleared away and while Loki danced with Frigga, Thor asked (Y/N) for a dance. From there, (Y/N) danced with every member of the Avengers and their off-realm guests to a wide variety of music; she requested Big Band tunes for Steve and Bucky and slower songs for Bruce and the Warrior’s Three, while Tony, Clint and Sam happily danced along with her to some faster pop numbers. Natasha pulled her into a ladies-only group dance with Jane, Darcy, Helen and Maria, and after a brief dance with Everett Ross, (Y/N) had their trio of DJ’s pause the music so she could reveal her surprise for Loki.
“I’d like to start out by thanking you all for being here with us today,” (Y/N) began as she stood before the crowded ballroom. “As I’m sure some of you know, I had a difficult road to recovery after the Battle of Boston. Sam suggested that I take up playing the piano again as a form of musical therapy, but I was hesitant at first; you see, my aunt taught me to play when I was a child and I stopped when she died because I couldn’t enjoy the music without her. Loki…” Her voice momentarily caught in her throat at the unexpected emotions welling up within her, but spotting her husband standing amongst the crowd helped her to steady herself and keep going. “Loki stayed with me every single time I sat myself at the piano. With him by my side, I found the strength to enjoy the music again and slowly but surely, I started to heal. Loki’s always been there for me when I needed him the most, which is why I’d like to dedicate this next song to my new husband.”
Peter and MJ plugged in the last chord as (Y/N) sat down at the electric keyboard they’d set up for her, both teenagers ducking out of the way with a whispered “break a leg!” while she adjusted the microphone and straightened her posture; seeing the curious expression on Loki’s face and the eager anticipation filling his emerald-green eyes, (Y/N) gave him a smile and a little wink before she began to play.
“Sweet, wonderful you, you make me happy with the things you do. Oh, can it be so, this feeling follows me wherever I go. I never did believe in miracles, but I’ve a feeling it’s time to try…I never did believe in the ways of magic, but I’m beginning to wonder why…” A widening grin played on (Y/N)’s lips as the guests took to the dance floor and started to dance to the spirited Fleetwood Mac tune while she sang. “I never did believe in miracles, but I’ve a feeling it’s time to try…I never did believe in the ways of magic, but I’m beginning to wonder why…” While the guests continued to dance, Loki approached the electric keyboard she was seated at and watched her fingers fly across the keys with an unreadable expression on his face. “Don’t, don’t break the spell, it would be different and you know it will. You, you make loving fun, and I don’t have to tell you but you’re the only one. You, you make loving fun, it’s all I want to do…you, you make loving fun, it’s all I want to do…you, you make loving fun, it’s all I want to do…you, you make loving fun, it’s all I want to do…”
When the song finally came to an end, the crowd burst into applause and their three DJ’s were quick to select another pop song that kept everyone out on the dance floor. (Y/N) thanked the teenagers for their help and crossed the makeshift stage to where Loki stood but before she could say anything, his arms were around her and he was dipping her low as his lips captured hers in a reverent kiss; when they were finally forced to separate for air, her husband straightened them both up but kept his arms wound around her waist and gave her a tender grin. “That’s the first time I’ve ever heard you sing, darling, and you sang that beautiful song just for me. Rest assured, I’ll treasure that moment for the rest of my days.”
“Thanks to our archer-turned-videographer, you’ll be able to watch it over and over until you get sick of it,” (Y/N) chuckled as she glanced past Loki to see Clint filming Natasha and Thor reenacting the famous lift from Dirty Dancing to the amazement of the dancers nearest to them.
Loki’s fingers gently took hold of her chin and guided her to look at him, and his love-struck gaze remained trained on hers as he slowly shook his head. “Never, my love. Now, how about a slice of cake and some Asgardian mead?”
Everyone gathered to watch (Y/N) and Loki cut their three-tiered wedding cake with one of his intricate daggers and after they’d indulged in their dessert, four of their grinning and slightly-inebriated teammates took to the makeshift stage; Natasha and Clint’s cheeks were tinged red, Sam’s sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and his bow-tie was missing, and Tony couldn’t contain his giggles as he stepped up to one of the microphones.
“Hey, guys! Great party, huh?” The crowd cheered and Tony nodded in agreement. “Well, you better hold onto your hats ‘cause it’s about to get even greater!”
(Y/N), who was standing beside Loki and catching up with both Pepper and Helen, looked over at her husband with eyes widened in horror. “He’s not about to give a speech, is he?”
“Not if he doesn’t wanna spend tonight sleeping on the couch,” The CEO replied before taking another sip of her champagne. “Trust me, he and I already had a lengthy discussion about what constitutes as appropriate wedding reception behavior.”
“In my experience, Mr. Stark tends not to retain information told to him in less than three sentences or in any tone other than pleasant.” The world-renowned geneticist let out a long-suffering sigh and watched the four Avengers setting up several more microphone stands. “Hence why he’s permanently banned from my laboratory.”
While Pepper gave Helen an understanding nod, Loki wrapped an arm around (Y/N)’s shoulders and gave her a comforting squeeze. “I’m sure that whatever they’re planning will be very touching…also, Romanoff stole Stark’s intended speech and vaguely threatened bodily harm if he attempted to improvise one; he may be an impulsive Midgardian, but he knows better than to find himself at the mercy of the Black Widow.”
(Y/N) chuckled as the lighting dimmed and all of a sudden, a spotlight landed on the two of them. “You see, the four of us up here got together and decided we wanted to do somethin’ special for our two good friends here. Like (Y/L/N) here mentioned earlier, she used music to help her out during her recovery and she’d play for all of us in the tower; so, we got together and figured that it was time we were the ones to play something for her…or rather, sing something for her. Hit it, adolescent DJ’s!”
The teenagers began to play an instrumental track of Frankie Valli and the Four Season’s ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,’ and Loki offered her his hand. “Shall we?”
With a smile on her face, (Y/N) nodded and allowed her husband to lead her to the empty center of the dance floor, slow-dancing along to the song’s pleasant introduction and biting her lip to keep from giggling when Tony and Sam started singing and Natasha and Clint provided their back-up vocals. “You’re just too good to be true, can’t take my eyes off of you. You’d be like heaven to touch, I wanna hold you so much. At long last love has arrived, and I thank God I’m alive. You’re just too good to be true, can’t take my eyes off of you…”
“Did you tell them that I like this song?” (Y/N) suddenly asked, her eyes narrowing in suspicion as she examined Loki’s overly-cheerful face. “Because I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned to any of them that I like this song.”
Loki merely arched a brow and his emerald-green eyes sparkled with mischief. “Now, why would I do such an odd thing as that?”
“Pardon the way that I stare, there’s nothin’ else to compare. The sight of you leaves me weak, there are no words left to speak. But if you feel like I feel, please let me know that it’s real. You’re just too good to be true, can’t take my eyes off of you…”
As the small instrumental revved up for the chorus, (Y/N) was twirled around in tight circles and before she could question her husband further, his voice suddenly echoed throughout the ballroom and sang, “I love you, baby!” (Y/N) gasped in disbelief when she looked over at the makeshift stage to see Loki standing at one of the microphones, and she laughed when she realized that her dance partner was a clone created from Loki’s magic. “And if it’s quite alright I need you, baby, to warm the lonely night, I love you, baby, trust in me when I say…” Loki was grinning widely as he sang and when his eyes found (Y/N)’s, he gave her a sly wink. “Oh, pretty baby! Now that I’ve found you, stay, and let me love you, baby, let me love you!”
“You really are a trickster,” (Y/N) remarked to Loki’s smirking clone, who merely shrugged and continued to sway them across the dance floor.
“When our friendship first began, my darling (Y/N) took it upon herself to introduce me to all of Midgard’s greatest literary creations and being the dedicated bibliophile that she is, she more than succeeded.” The real Loki onstage smiled as he held onto the microphone. “Each and every novel and play she recommended provided me insight into her beautiful mind but when it came to watching the filmed adaptations of her favorite literary works, I was able to observe just how they affected her…which is how I know that (Y/N) adores the scene in a certain modern Shakespearean adaptation when the handsome lead surprises the heroine with a public show of affection.”
(Y/N) felt her face warm and a reluctant grin spread across her face as she glanced back at the clone she was dancing with. “10 Things I Hate About You was the first movie we watched together when I joined the Avengers. I…I can’t believe you remembered that…”
The clone leaned down and pressed a kiss onto her forehead while the real Loki onstage continued to sing. “I love you, baby! And if it’s quite alright I need you, baby, to warm the lonely night, I love you, baby, trust in me when I say…Oh, pretty baby! Don’t bring me down, I pray, oh pretty baby, now that I’ve found you, stay, oh pretty baby, trust in me when I say…”
When the song came to an end, the clone vanished in a shimmer of green magic and as the crowd clapped and cheered, an impressed-looking Darcy leaned towards (Y/N) and yelled over the din, “Geez, is there anything that guy can’t do?”
“If there is, then I’ve certainly never seen it!” (Y/N) chuckled and when Loki finally made his way through the crowd, she looped her arms around his waist and smiled up at him. “That was beautiful, sweetheart!”
“It was a challenge to keep our rehearsals a secret and I might’ve downed a shot or two of liquid courage beforehand, but I’m glad that you enjoyed it.” He pressed a kiss onto the tip of her nose and grinned when she laughed at the ticklish sensation. “You surprised me with a beautifully-performed song, and I surprised you with a slightly-less conventional performance; I suppose that great minds really do think alike.”
“Okay, here’s another oldie for all you oldies out there!” Ned Leeds’ amplified voice announced and the opening notes of The Village People’s ‘Y.M.C.A.’ filled the ballroom, causing the guests to eagerly take to the dance floor.
Nearby, Jane frowned and turned to Darcy standing beside her. “Wait, did that kid just call us old?”
“Join the club,” Both Steve and Bucky quipped as Natasha and Jennifer Walters dragged them past towards the center of the dance floor.
“Oh, I love this song!” (Y/N) grabbed Loki’s hands and started to sway along to the catchy beat. “It was in The Office, remember? It’s the song that plays towards the end of the Café Disco episode!”
“You’re right, but I’m still confused as to why a song about a worldwide youth organization inspires such a visceral reaction in Midgardians.” Loki studied the dancers around them in curious amusement. “And what about it has anything to do with weddings?”
She ducked under his arms and spun so that her back was pressed against his front, craning her neck so that she could meet his gaze with a grin. “It’s a catchy, cheesy song that has the easiest dance moves in the world to perform. Doesn’t that make it the perfect party song?”
Loki shrugged and spun her back out to face him. “Only if one has the perfect dance partner to go along with it.”
“Then I suppose we’re in luck,” (Y/N) quipped, pressing a kiss onto her husband’s knuckles before manipulating his arms along to the song’s iconic chorus and dissolving into a fit of giggles at the absurdity of the God of Mischief dancing along to ‘Y.M.C.A..’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the moon was high in the star-filled sky and the reception inside Stark Mansion was beginning to wind down, Loki and (Y/N) snuck off to the gazebo they were married in and swayed to the slow music playing in the distance, surrounded only by the beautiful flowers and twinkling fairy lights that decorated the structure. (Y/N)’s head rested on Loki’s shoulder and his eyes were closed as one of his hands held hers against his chest, directly over his heart.
“Do you think that we’ll see Doctor Strange again?”
Loki thoughtfully hummed and nodded. “I’m sure we will, but not for a long while; I believe that the superhero lifestyle unnerved the poor fellow and I doubt he wants to incite the anger of any of our friends. As long as you continue to train and master your abilities, there won’t be a reason for that second-rate sorcerer to bother you again.”
(Y/N) lifted her head so that she could meet his gaze, a single brow arched as her (Y/E/C) eyes sparkled with delight. “So, are you finally going to tell me where we’re going on our honeymoon?”
“And ruin the surprise I’ve spent two months meticulously planning? Where’s the fun in that?”
“Loki, I have to know what sort of clothes to pack!”
“Darling, I don’t imagine we’ll be wearing any for the majority of the honeymoon.” Loki’s teasing snickers quickly transitioned to laughter when (Y/N)’s fingers mercilessly tickled his neck in retaliation. “All right, all right, I surrender! On Monday, you and I will travel the Bifrost to Karapiro, New Zealand and spend ten days at Lakeview Lodge; we’ll have the opportunity to visit Rotorua, the Waitomo Caves and even take a tour of-”
“Hobbiton,” (Y/N) gasped and Loki’s grin widened as her face lit up with excitement. “We’re going to see where they filmed The Lord of the Rings movies?!” When he nodded, she flung her arms around his neck and nearly tackled him to the floor with the force of her embrace, but he was quick to catch her and hold her up against him while she laughed in delight. “I have the absolute best husband in the world!”
Loki’s heart leapt in his chest when she called him her husband and when she moved her hands to cradle his face, he tenderly smiled up at her and replied, “Well, the best wife in the world deserves everything I can offer her and more, does she not?”
(Y/N)’s expression softened into a look of loving adoration, and the feather-light touch of her thumbs caressing his cheekbones nearly made his eyes flutter closed in bliss. “You know, I think about that day we first met in the library from time to time. I replay the entire scene my mind – how I stumbled and how you were by my side in an instant to catch me, how our eyes locked and my breath was nearly taken away by the way you looked at me, how my heartbeat sped up when I realized how much I enjoyed having your arms around me – and when I do, I thank the universe for sending a mischievous and misunderstood trickster to steal my heart that day.”
“When I think of that fateful day, I find myself thanking the Norns for sending a kind and passionate lost princess to spellbind me, body and soul,” Loki huskily replied as his eyes stung with the prickling of tears. “And I pray that she’ll never set me free.”
(Y/N), her eyes sparkling with unshed tears of joy, gently shook her head and leaned forward to ghost her lips over his. “As long as the trickster holds her heart, she never ever will. So…” She held her hand up and stuck her little finger into the air with the hint of a playful grin on her face. “Pinky-Promise?”
Loki laughed and adjusted his hold on her so that he could wrap his little finger around hers. “Pinky-Promise.”
Their lips finally met in a passionate and unhurried kiss and Loki sighed at the heavenly sensation of (Y/N)’s fingers carding through his hair, holding his beautiful wife in a tight embrace and smiling through the love-filled kisses they exchanged beneath the gazebo’s twinkling lights.
“Witches” in the MCU + Loki’s Witchy-ness
So, I’ve had a very detailed interpretation of this topic for quite awhile and I’ve been waiting for the chance to meta about it. I’ve seen a few arguments in the fandom about what classifies as a Witch vs a Sorcerer vs a Mage in the mcu, and where Loki falls in that classification.
My basic headcanon is that- while “sorcerer” and “mage” and “magician” and “siedrmaster” etc are all individual categories with distinct definitions- the term “witch” is more of a slang politicised word for certain magic users. To put it simply, calling someone a witch is supposed to be an insult.
Witchery and the Demonisation of Outcasts
Part of the reason I sort of formed this idea is that real-world witchcraft in Salem and other places historically was a ruse to implicate women and some other people in fictitious crimes simply because they were defiant or progressive or separated in some way from the mainstream of society. I think it’s sort of the same thing in mcu-terms. (I haven’t decided if all magic users in the mcu see this topic the same way or if it’s just Asgardians, but nonetheless.)
I think in general a “witch” is a magic user who doesn’t have allegiance to a reputable organisation.
This is a little more complex because people (aesir in specific) tend to see independent practitioners as being untrustworthy and sort of rogue, whereas if they’re working for any entity thought to be associated with a noble cause, then that’s viewed as okay. (Examples being: Odin is a magic user, but he’s associated with government of Asgard so he’s good. The healers are magic users but they’re associated with the government so they’re good. Doctor Strange is associated with the sanctums so he’s okay. Etc etc)
MCU Witch Classifications
A perfect example of someone who’d definitely be considered a witch is Wanda. Maybe for a brief period in between AoU and CACW when she was at the compound, she could’ve been seen as just a magic user, but all through AoU and Civil War and everything post-CW she was a very rogue figure. She mostly flew solo didn’t really have ties with any specific organisation. The fact that she ended up a villain probably didn’t help the image of “witches” in universe either, but ya know.
Another example would be Amora from the tie-in book “Where Mischief Lies”. She was a student of sorcery on Asgard, but she didn’t work for the crown in any capacity, she was very underhanded, and she ultimately rebelled and got cast out. All throughout the book she’s referred to as a witch.
Mordo would definitely be considered one after he went off on his own. The idea of him once being a good guy working for the sanctums and then turning his back on it is a perfect illustration of how anti-witch people in-universe probably imagine witches.
Frigga is a little trickier. All throughout the movies she was never a witch because she obviously was loyal to the asgardian crown and used her magic to better Asgard, but Malekith called her one in TDW. This could imply that pre-movies before she married Odin she used to be independent practicing, or (and I think this is more accurate) Malekith was just using a common insult flung at mages.
Now, Loki. So, post-Thor 1, Loki’s definitely a witch. Like full stop. He fits right into the archetype. However, during the first movie it’s a little more tricky to say. He was a prince, so he definitely had allegiance to a noble organisation, and yet his brother and friends still referred to him as a witch (not sure if this is canon or fanon but I choose to believe it happened). I’m pretty sure this was more of a jab at him than an actual categorisation. As in, they were implying that- even though he was supposedly loyal to the crown- he was still underhanded and devious and not to be trusted. They weren’t insulting his use of magic, they were insulting him as a person. Whether or not he was actually disloyal rebel up to that point, is up to interpretation, but I would argue that yes he was. A little bit. In “Where Mischief Lies” (which is supposed to be canon), his struggle between trying to please his family and just going off the deep end and “being a full fledged witch” (actual paraphrasing of the book) is like the main storyline.
So anyway. That’s my rambling for today. What do you guys think? Disagree? Agree? Think I’m overthinking this way too much? I welcome feedback lol.
Sneak Peak of my reworking the Goddess of War based off of this wonderful persons story “Beyond the Stars” ( @marvel-at-my-obsession ), and though at the moment discontinued, she was such a fun character to read! And I just had to begin drawing her!
Here’s me exploring the comic style even more, and as usual I obsess with hair. Finishing projects now so I can get to the coloring finally. Work had been back to back busy. So now I can finish personal stuff.
When Loki had chosen to fix the timeline again he knew he'd be in his own personal hell that he himself had created for the next few years of his life. When Frigga died all he wanted to do was run back to you so you'd hold him in your arms and comfort him but he couldn't.
After the events of Svartalfheim he pretended to be deceased and moved to midgard for a while until Thor had found him again.. he had promised the ancient one that he wouldn't interfere in your life and he didn't, first few weeks were the hardest for him, worst, at times he thought that he'd rather go through Thanos's torture again then go through this.
He wasn't able to sleep or do anything but he stayed strong, for you, for both of you. He missed you with every inch of his life, the only thing keeping him going forward was the assurance that each and every day was only bringing him closer to you.
Seven years was a long time, every morning as he awakened he thought of you and his heart broke in pieces as he realized that you must have been sad and lonely at times as well, feeling as if you're life was meaningless, fearing that you'd never fall in love with a man, would never feel the heat you so badly craved and he knew you'd feel that way for a long time to come. And he wouldn't be able to stop you from hurting this way, he really wished he could have loved you better than this but he felt helpless, time was never really on his side.
For a god seven years weren't really much but you were just a mortal.. and he knew with every passing year you were only losing more hope, losing more life as he just moved on with his own and did nothing..
Two years passed somehow and he knew you'd go on to marry Strange during this time period, he knew all about what was going to happen and he couldn't stop the precious love of his life as she got tied to another man.
As she became a wife but certainly not his.
....
"Happy birthday sweetheart" you heard your mom's voice on the phone , she was the only one to call you after Mrs Geller, at least they remembered your birthday because your own husband didn't.
"Thanks mom, what are you doing?" you asked her so she sighed,
"Y/n you know you are 35 now, you don't have much time left, are you both planning to have kids or not?" you groaned internally as she said that. You haven't really told her the truth yet. Sure your sex life was as bland as a weak tea but that didn't mean you didn't want kids of your own, you really did but nothing worked.
Even though your body was healthy and hospitable as your doctors had told you, you couldn't just get pregnant, you thought maybe Stephen was infertile but he was perfectly fine in that department as well, it was a medical mystery why you weren't able to get pregnant.
"Is that the only thing you think of all the time mom?" You asked her, bit annoyed by her inquiry. Well you were very annoyed.
"Of Course I do"
She answered so you rolled your eyes, once she hung up you got out of the bed and got ready for work, as you stepped out in the living room Stephen was there on the kitchen table reading a newspaper. As your eyes met with each other he gave you a smile that never really reached his eyes whenever he was around you. You didn't blame him either.
"Good morning" you mumbled as you made your way to the kitchen to make a quick breakfast for yourself.
"Morning, I'm off to Philadelphia today and won't return for a week" he told you nonchalantly so you nodded.
"Well..Drive safely" he chuckled as you said that.
"You don't have to worry about that anymore " he smirked so you resisted the urge to roll your eyes again.
Two years ago he had gotten into a bad accident that had almost ended his life. Doctors had told him that he'd never be able to operate again but then he went to Nepal and apparently found a mystic healer or something, you couldn't believe your eyes when he had returned perfectly fine as if nothing had happened to him, however you did notice a slight change in his demeanor, he was less arrogant and more sympathetic towards you.
For a few weeks your relationship with him had gotten better but then it fizzled again, your heart was never in the right place when you married him, you knew you shouldn't have married him. You shouldn't have married him because you sure as hell weren't in love with him, as much as you had all these fantasies about a magical love life since you were eight, it never really happened to you. You never found a man who made your heart skip a beat with his presence, gave you butterflies that would leave you gushing for days or made you feel heated just by his mere touch.
When you turned turned thirty two you had just accepted that not everyone was destined to find that sort of love so you settled for Stephen and he settled for you, though you didn't understand his reasons, because he sure as hell wasn't in love with you either.
A year later you finally built the courage to ask for a divorce and much to your surprise he agreed almost immediately, that's when he confessed to you that he had been having an affair with his colleague Christine, not that it gave you a whiplash or made you feel betrayed, you had a feeling he wasn't faithful to you.
You had been cheated on before and were still carrying the scars it had left behind but with Stephen it didn't even hurt, you were equally responsible for this, sure you never cheated on him but you were never really there either, he never really felt like a lover to you, there was no romantic love between you two and it was proven as you two had met at your parents' anniversary a few months later after the divorce, that's when you knew that a platonic friendship is what you needed from him.
You were enjoying a life where you weren't trapped in a forced loveless marriage but that wasn't to say that you liked being alone, you despised it, all you wanted to do was find a man who'd love you as crazily as you'd love him but you knew you weren't blessed enough to find him.
Even when you met guys who you felt a miniscule amount of attraction for -they were either too young or too old, and both didn't seem interested in you in that way, you would turn forty in a few years, your time had ended but accepting it was way harder than one could imagine.
The hopeless romantic in you just wanted to find love, it didn't want to give up but with every passing year you were losing your will to go on, you have always felt so hollow from deep within, but it only got worse as you entered this decade of your life. You still remembered crying all night on your 30th birthday, now you wanted to go back to being thirty again, that felt much better than this..
Ever since you had turned thirty you always felt as if you were missing a piece of your heart, as if someone owned it but you didn't remember who. You always felt as if there was a man out there for you but you weren't able to find him anywhere, as if he wasn't even from this planet.
Few more months later Stephen invited you to his birthday bash in NYC. You had moved back to Minnesota post the divorce so he flew you in and even arranged for your stay. A free lavish trip wasn't the offer you were going to say no to so the night of his birthday you put on a fancy green dress, the thin straps had cute hearts shapes attached to it and after a long time you actually felt good about yourself. You had been working out, taking care of yourself, doing everything you could to still feel a little hopeful in life and it worked until your head finally hit the bed at night and made you aware of how miserable your life has become.
As you reached the venue you met Christine and things were unsurprisingly good between you two, she was a good woman, she understood Stephen and loved him the way you never did. He deserved that. Also apparently he was a superhero now but you still didn't understand what he actually did or what his purpose was. Sometimes you really sucked at being a nice person and taking interest in other people's lives.
After dancing for a bit you felt very tired so you told Christine you were going to grab a drink.
You sat down next to a gentleman in a black suit, he was attractive. He probably was the most attractive man you had seen in your life, his raven hair went past his shoulders and when he looked at you, those green eyes bored right into your soul. You also felt as if you had seen him before, you felt as if you had known him for years.
Usually men such as him made you feel extremely nervous around themselves and insecure in a weird way but for some unknown reason you felt calm with him..
"Sorry i didn't mean to stare, i felt as if i had seen you somewhere" he chuckled as you said that, that mere smile gave you butterflies. What was happening to you? This wasn't like you at all. You had never felt such an intense attraction towards a man before, not this way.
As soon as Loki saw you from across the dance floor, all the feelings that he had been suffocating for seven years were threatening to explode but he kept his cool, you didn't remember him and he had to do it in a way that wouldn't make you feel scared of him. He had waited years to find you again, he could wait more.
"Perhaps you have seen me on the news, I invaded your planet with an army a few years ago" your eyes widened in realization as he said that.
"Oh my god you're Loki '' you said to him and he turned his head to look at you, his lips sipped on the neat whiskey he had ordered for himself. Gorgeous gorgeous guy you thought, of course he was, he was a literal god. You and your standards you thought.
"For a moment I was afraid my popularity had plummeted around here" you let out a nervous laughter as he said that. He had clearly caught you checking him out.
"Noo i.. I read about you at the time, saw you in the news ..my ex husband actually made me see why we were supposed to hate you" you mumbled as you airquoted your sentence, a bit ashamed by the reveal, you still remembered your first date with Stephen where he just ranted against Loki, so why was he there at his birthday party now?
"Well I hope your feelings are not the same anymore" you gulped as the intense eye contact made you feel flushed. Your cheeks felt warm so warm and all you wanted to do was lean into him like a pervert.
"So what are you doing here?" You asked him to avoid feeling those butterflies that were swarming in your belly.
"I was summoned here for a crucial discussion," he answered you.
"Ohhh" you mumbled.
"I watched you dancing over there" your ears perked up as he said that. There were so many gorgeous, young and gorgeous women at the party, why was he watching you? Men that looked like him never went for women like you.
"You did?" You cleared your throat as you spoke,
"You have a way with your hips don't you?" Was he flirting with you? Oh god it's been years since a man this attractive had flirted with you. A man you actually wanted to flirt with you.
"Ummm well i wanted to be a dancer once" you mumbled and suddenly felt like a fool.
"I can tell, makes me think of other situations where you could show me how those hips could work" you bit on your lips as he said that. Loki's entire self grimaced as he was clearly being obscene with you, but he was pretending to be the confident asshole he was known as, however as he noticed the way you had blushed he found himself craving your touch. It's been seven years for norns sake.
He placed his fingers on your chin to make you look at him and brought his lips to your ears, if he was some other guy you would have pushed him away by now but for some reason you felt hypnotized by his mere presence, everything about him enchanted you, you felt as if you were under his influence, his cologne attacked your senses and all you wanted to do was kiss him.
You had never felt such scorching heat with someone in your life, you never thought you'd ever get to feel it either, you didn't think it existed for you.
"Care for a dance?" He whispered in your ears and you could only whine in response which he took as a yes. His fingers laced with yours as he dragged you to a secluded corner of the hall.
Baby, you can
Ride it, ooh, yeah
Bring it over to my place
"Nice song isn't it?" He whispered in your ear so you hummed in response, it existed because of you and you didn't even know that, you were the one to send the lyrics of the song to Mark Johnson in the hope that it'll get sent to the artist. Apparently it did.
You moved slowly with him to the rhythm of the music, he placed his hands on your lower back and the action made you gasp, dipping you down slowly before he pulled you up, smushing you so close to him in a moment, your chest were pressed to him, you were too close to man you barely knew.
And you be like
"Baby, who cares?"
But I know you care
Bring it over to my place
Your hips rolled in circles and hands curled around his neck, what was this feeling? Your lips were so close to him but he wasn't kissing you, even though you wanted him to just kiss you desperately.
You don't know what you did, did to me
Your body lightweight speaks to me
I don't know what you did, did to me
Your body lightweight speaks to me
"Goddd" You whispered and a small smile curved the corner of his mouth.
"There you are i have been looking for you"
You heard Stephen's voice so you pulled away from the man you had met a few minutes ago. Even after the divorce was finalized you still felt weird about being close with another man around him.
"What happened?" You looked at him and he snickered in response.
"I was talking to him, I called him here to discuss something important"
You directed your attention towards Loki and he smiled at you before he looked you up and down from head to toe then he leaned into you to press a goodbye kiss on your cheek,
"See me again sometime later?"
You nodded as he said that, he walked towards your ex husband and went along with him, his smell lingered around you still and you had to sit down in order to calm down your nerves.
You had never felt this way before, you had lost all hope of finding a man you'd feel this level of attraction for and now you were almost thirty seven and a literal god was showing interest in you. A god. You wanted to scream because you knew he was unattainable, maybe he was just looking for a one night stand, of course he did. Guys weren't really looking to marry you at your age. At Least not men like him.
Strange had invited you here but he was missing from his own party so after a while you made your way upstairs to tell him that you were going back to the hotel as you felt tired, or maybe that was just another excuse to see Loki. Not it wasn't, you weren't that desperate for a man you had just met. You had never been that person. Right?
As soon as you reached the room you knocked on the door and took a deep breath, much to your delight Loki opened the door instead.
"If I didn't know you any better i'd have made an assumption that you came here for me" Your face flushed again as he said that, the smirk on his beautiful face was apparent.
"Well You don't know me Mister. Is Stephen here?"
He smiled and stepped away so you could get in the room but as you got in you noticed that Strange wasn't there
"He went away for a moment" Loki said to you so you sighed and turned around to look at him
"Umm okay..will you please tell him that I am tired and going back to the hotel? I'm staying at the Ritz"
"Sure would my lady, I'm sure he knew that already or perhaps the invitation is for me?" He asked you and you felt your face heating up again but instead of getting nervous you got bold instead, you didn't know where it came from..
"Maybe it is"
"What room?"
Lord, was he going to visit you?
"143"
He nodded his head as you said that and you walked past him to leave the room.
"Do you even know my name?" you suddenly turned around to ask him and he gave you a soft smile in response,
"It's y/n..isn't it?"
"He told you, didn't he?"
He didn't know why his eyes teared up at the question, he had been holding himself back from just wanting to grab you and kiss you at the moment.
"He did"
As soon as you were out of the room you took a deep breath, how come you had bumped into the sexiest man you had ever laid your eyes on? Not just that but he actually seemed interested in you. Things like that just didn't happen to you so it felt a little weird. What did he want from you? Perhaps a night of debauchery? That was your best guess, only half an hour later you heard a knock on the door so you opened it and found him on the other side,
You invited him in so he looked around before he diverted the attention back at you.
"Ummm you want something to drink? I have like ummm let me check" you walked towards the mini refrigerator to rummage through it "There's coke, some alcoholic beverages, I don't know if you consume that" He chuckled as you said that.
"Don't they charge heftly for that?" He asked you curiously.
"Well my ex is paying for the room so you know" he chuckled as you said that. Norns he had missed you and all your little quirks.
"I will have whatever this Coke is supposed to be" you smiled nervously as he said that. You grabbed a can from the mini freezer and passed it to him, you were shocked a little when he opened the can without even using his fingers,
"It's a charm" he said as he found you looking a bit starstruck.
"I see.. I mean I know..you're also magical and all" He smiled as you said that, he walked closer to you and your breath quickened as he continued to reach closer and closer to you with every step.
"Have a sip lady y/n" he pressed the can right over your lips and it made you gulp.
"It's okay…I ummm" you stuttered on your words and he couldn't help but enjoy the sight of you squirming like that. It boded well for his ego that he had such an affect on you even though you didn't even remember him just yet.
"I insist, it would be rude of me to not offer" you pressed your lips on the opening of the can and he raised it up a little so you could take a sip. After you were done with the sip, he brought the can back up to his own lips and drank from it, all while his eyes stayed glued to yours. He noticed the residue of the drink on the corner of your mouth and all he wanted to do was lick it off. His thoughts were filthy. It's been seven years, that was two thousand five hundred fifty five nights of him just touching himself to your memories .
"Uhhh so how was the meeting with Stephen?" You asked him to cut through the tension..
"Atrocious, he so badly needed my assistance but the arrogant arse took a while before he admitted it" you chuckled as he said that.
"Well you should have seen him years ago before ahhh the accident..he was way worse"
"Mmmhmmm?" He walked closer to you and placed the can down on the dresser behind you "Makes me wonder why a sweet woman like you would ever hitch herself to a man such as him" He whispered, his voice remained low and husky.
"Well I thought it was the right thing to do at the time" you looked down and he figured you couldn't even look in his eyes for longer than a few seconds.
"Is that so? Did it feel right?" He put his fingers on your chin and made you look up at him, every inch of your skin began to tingle with his touch. What was he doing to you and why?
"Not really..if the divorce wasn't enough of an indication for you then let me tell you that I do regret that decision everyday of my life"
He smiled as you said that. The forest green slip dress you had on made you look delectable, there were two heart shaped ribbons attached to the top of the straps that kept the dress hanging on your body, he found it really adorable. You let out a moan as his thumb brushed over your lower lip.
"Lokiiii" the sound of his whispered name made his cock harden in a jiff but he used the charm to keep himself from showing it, he didn't want you to think as if he was there for just a night of fun.
"Apologies little one, I got carried away" He took a step back and he noticed your heavy breathing. You weren't making this any easier, he remembered the dream he had about you two before where he lived the same scenario, he knew what you were going to say to him, it always started this way between you two, with friendship, a relationship that was built in such a way could have only lasted forever, there was no other way around it.
"It's okay I just… I am still dealing with the divorce and I just.. I don't know what you thought would happen tonight and I know I invited you here basically but I ..I'm just not ready for ..you know" your eyes teared up as you mumbled, that wasn't the reason why you didn't want to sleep with him, you didn't care about the divorce, you just didn't want him to think of you as someone he could have fun with for a night and leave, his own eyes softened as he noticed the anxious look on your face.
"Whatever it is that you desire from me tonight, I will give you that darling" he said firmly so you smiled before you chuckled slightly in disbelief.
"Really? So if I tell you that I barely have any friends and I want you to be my friend first, would you be my friend?" You asked him, he could sense the mockery in your tone, he didn't blame you, he knew his reputation wasn't the best especially because of how promiscuous his brother was on midgard he figured you must have put him through the same judgment, you didn't remember him after all.
"I would love to be your friend, I do not have any either"
Your eyes widened as he said that.
"Okay so ummm okay we can be friends i guess" he smiled as he grabbed your hand and placed a formal kiss on the back.
"My lady, I won't disappoint you i promise"
He kissed your forehead and as you looked up at him all of a sudden he just felt so familiar, as if you knew him in some other life, he felt like home and you couldn't really describe why.
That night as you both stayed up and talked you found yourself getting more and more attracted to him.
Days passed and turned into weeks but he never stepped out of line or asked you for things you never wanted to do, all your life you had felt a certain emptiness in your soul, even when you felt happy at times you found yourself thinking about the missing piece of your heart, you had always felt as if you were born with half a soul and for once in your life you were starting to believe that he was it. That he was the one you had been looking for, that he was the answer to all those questions. But he felt too good to be true.
How could someone be so precious as he was?
You had no idea how complicated your relationship was with him but you were going to find out the truth on your coming birthday..he was going to change your life forever, it would never be the same again.
And that is exactly what you had wished for all your life.
Loki season 2 Ep.5
(SPOILERS)
This just gonna be a list of things I’m obsessing over in the new episode by order of importance to me (I’m sorry):
GOD. OF. STORIES. Buildup. YES!!! From the episode title to Loki specifically mentioning saving their stories (only other time he mentioned stories to represent a person’s life was in the very first episode of this show I think). I’m way too excited.
Mobius…I’m sorry this will be mainly Lokius based. *Ahem* Mobius a single dad who can’t shut up about being single and the only person he talks about stuff that isn’t just Jet-Ski related is Loki. Everyone else he meets he kinda just stays on topic but Loki; “Hey, stranger who might of followed me from work, want a beer? I’m also a single dad.” And two things I feel like I see differently than a lot of the fandom: a) I don’t think Don (Just remembered that’s his name) has a dead wife. Like, who describes your wife being dead as ‘Long gone’ and immediately tries to pawn off a belonging that you used as a couple? b) People saying the kids act like Loki and Thor which means Mobius represents Odin but…Odin kinda sucked as a dad? And Frigga was a MASSIVE part of raising the kids, so an Odin variant being able to step in is. Unrealistic. Oh and Hela? Hi??? Hela exists. So nah, I think they made it that way the same way they made Thor adopt Love, to fix the mistakes of the past generation with the new ones. Thor is raising Love unlike how his father raised him. Loki could raise the brothers to not have the same issues he had with his own brother, and what they both had issues with when raised together by Odin.
(Last one was long) I think I made a theory a long time ago that Casey/Frank was related to the unsolved case of the guys escaping Alcatraz. Could be wrong, if not, hey one of my theories was right!
O.B. my baby boi was a failed Sci-Fi writer that ended up inspiring the god of stories to save all the stories across the multiverse. He’s secretly the most important writer character in the MCU :’)
B-15 being a nurse makes a lot of sense and explains why she became softer and more focused on helping others after she got her memories back. Her true nature of helping others came back to her, which probably ask explains why she really hate the idea of pruning people again.
I want to talk about Sylvie and all the neat stuff about her…But my Bi brain keeps getting distracted by that scene of her without her jacket…She’s- she’s great here too 👍
Final unimportant thing: Any Doctor who fan get time explanation flashback the moment O.B picked up that mug with pens in it? “I’m a pen in a mug?” “Yes you are, Donna Noble.”
Adopting with the Goddess of Thunder
Fem!Thor x Reader (Love & Thunder)
Tumblr media
Life has been going pretty smooth for you and the Goddess of Thunder.
You occasionally get visits from Loki, who’s apparently working with some organization called the TVA.
Frigga was loved by everyone on New Asgard and Thor was proving quite the confident leader.
Korg was always happy to babysit whenever you and Thora went off on “special missions”. Well that’s just code for date night.
You and Thora began having discussions about having another child. Thora would always end up a blushing mess at the talk, usually ending with her tackling you to the couch and covering you in kisses.
But then one afternoon, Thora heard something while talking to you. A distant prayer. She couldn’t quite pin it but someone was praying to her in desperation.
“I’ll be right back. Prep the medical bay!” she calls out to you before grabbing Stormbreaker and shooting off with the power of the BiFrost.
Thora came back a split second later with a small dehydrated little girl in her arms and a bald human alien being behind her.
You worked fast, hooking up an IV to the young child. Just a little saline to help rehydrate her.
You worked hooking one up to the girl’s father as well. “Thank you” he couldn’t stop saying to your wife.
“I tried calling out to the different gods.” The man explained, “but you’re the only one that answered”
“That’s what heroes do” Thora reassured the man. “What’s your name?”
“Gorr” the man answered. “My daughter’s Love”
“Your daughter is stable” you assure the man. He gives you a weak smile.
It was only a matter of moments later that Gorr passed. He was only holding out for his little girl.
You and Thora never left Love’s side as she recovered. Frigga even came with you and visited. The two little girls were inseparable.
Thora couldn’t help but smile, seeing her daughter getting along with another child.
Doctors were saying that a few more days of observation and Love would be good to go.
Thora looked to you and then to the children at play, an idea forming in her beautiful Asgardian head.
And of course, like all of Thora’s ideas, she brought it up in the middle of one of your nightly “tussles”.
She had you pinned to your bed, straddling you and gently nibbling your ear. “I was thinking” she whispers, “maybe we could bring Love home tomorrow”
You kiss the pulse of her neck, “you’re talking about adopting Love?”
She hums an affirmative.
“Not much of a debate. I think it’s a wonderful idea.” you smirk, gently massaging her back and spine while kissing her collarbone. Thora giggles.
“Good.” Thora moans out a response. She looks a little embarrassed at you for that being the way she answered.
The two of you share a little laugh and go right back to your “tussles”.
The very next day, you, Thora and little Frigga walked into the hospital room. Frigga ran up to Love and hugged her friend tightly.
“Love,” Thora smiled at the young girl, “would you like to come home with (Y/N) and I?”
“Like for a sleepover?” The young girl looked to her friend.
“Sort of” you smiled.
Love looked to Frigga who nodded enthusiastically. Love quickly nodded back.
You and Thora went thru the steps of adopting Love and officially adding her to your happy brood on New Asgard.
Frigga and Love absolutely view each other as sisters. You were amazed how quickly the two adapted.
Thora is a natural as a mother, she shows the exact amount of love and care for Love as she does for Frigga.
Sure there are a few ups and downs but that’s what life has to offer. Love looks up to you and Thora as her parents. There are still times she’ll cry thinking back on her father but you and Thora are always there for her.
New Asgard is small and humble but it hosts a lot of love and adoration. You and Thora can’t help but smile at the little slice of Valhalla that you carve out for yourselves.
🐍💚🟢 Mind blowing and Mind bending ‘Loki’ Facts 🐍💚🟢
~ Loki’s Impact on the Marvel Universe and How he is a Catalyst ~
‪*If he didn’t let the Frost Giants into Asgard to interrupt Thor’s coronation, Thor wouldn’t have come to Earth and met Selvig who then later helped Loki create the ‘space portal machine’ in the Avengers. ‬
*If he didn’t try to destroy Jotunheim then he would never have fallen into the black hole, gotten the Space and Mind stone and got the Avengers to assemble and ‘deliver’ these Infinity Stones to them. He let himself get caught by the Avengers because he WANTED to LOSE!
‪*If he hadn’t of killed Coulson, we wouldn’t have Agents of SHIELD.
‪*If he hadn’t got the sceptre, Wanda wouldn’t have gotten her amplified powers nor would Vision or Ultron ever have existed. Thor & Tony wouldn’t have had their prophesying visions about what would likely happen in IW..‬‬ 🟠
‪*In Thor The Dark World, he saved Jane in order to prevent the Aether (the Reality Stone) from disappearing into the void‬..🔴
*He accidentally got his mother killed & therefore banished Odin which caused to age faster which resulted in him dying and Hela to be released.
‪*He also called for Skurge to take them back to Asgard via the Bifrost but Hela caught the ride with them (who is Loki’s biological sister) which resulted in he and Thor to be sent to Sakaar where Thor reunited with the Hulk and met Valkyrie and Ragnarok to be caused. ‬
‪*If he didn’t take the Tesseract from Odin’s vault in Thor Ragnarok, Thanos wouldn’t have been able to find it therefore the snap either wouldn’t have happened or been delayed. 🟦
‪*If he didn’t let Thanos kill him in Infinity War, Thor would have been snapped out of existence and Thanos would have succeeded in erasing half‬ of the universe.‬.
‬ *If he didn’t use the Tesseract to escape in Endgame, we wouldn’t have the multiverse since he wouldn’t have become the ‘God of Stories’ or create the TVA. 🟦
‪*Sylvie Killing Kang at the end of ‘Loki S1’ made the next big villain for the Avengers to face in Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. ‬
‪*In ‘Loki S2,’ he has to save the multiverse from being destroyed.
‪*Loki has to recruit heroes from across the multiverse in order to eliminate the ‘Kang Threat.’‬
‪*He can manipulate and re write time now that he is the ‘God of Stories.’‬ 🖊️📖
‪He is a catalyst. ‬
Doctor Strange saw that the only way it would all work was if Tony sacrificed himself. He saw what Loki was doing behind the scenes. Loki recruited HIMSELF into the TVA after recruiting Mobius and other underdogs in order
to humble and guide him. He even created Sylvie so that he could see from the outside what he had once been like and learn to ‘love himself.’ He has to tell her and his past self to not be selfish and power hungry (akin to Charles telling Logan to ‘guide his younger self’ in X-Men: Days of Future Past. He was ‘acting’ bad in the Avengers!! Loki admired Tony because of what he was doing. His purpose was to save the universe! 😭 He told Thor that the ‘Sun would shine on them again’ because he KNEW that they would reunite again eventually and told Thanos ‘You will never be a God.’ Because Loki was always that many steps ahead in the grand scheme of things. He was guiding himself and everyone else the ENTIRE time!😌💚
Btw: Loki called Don ‘Mobius’ due to Tony discovering the ‘Mobius’ strip’ in Endgame. He always admired Tony’s ‘glorious purpose’ and that’s why he keeps referring to him in the ‘Loki’ series and Mobius knows ALL about Loki because HE, Loki MADE him that way!😉🧬
He actually planned to get killed by Thanos in order to save Thor from being snapped and he knew that he would come back one way or another. He said these things for a reason! “I assure you brother, the sun will shine on us again” and “You will never be a God!”
Despite Frigga saying: ‘You’re so perceptive about everyone but yourself,’ the older, wiser Loki knows himself well enough in order to change the other, younger version of himself. He knows EVERYTHING about the Avengers members in the first Avengers movie for a REASON! 😉
So there. Loki is indeed more important to the Marvel Universe than we all realised. 😌‬💚
Thor, Hulk and Loki about the ‘Sun.’ God of Stories Loki made it so that the phrase the ‘sun is going down’ to calm the Hulk down and subdue him and the ‘sun shining on him and Thor again’ was to inspire hope and energy. ☀️
Loki is the ‘World Serpent’ Jörmungandr. 🐍
He created the World Tree Yggdrasil otherwise known as the ‘Tree of Life.’ 🌳
His new helmet is made out of ‘universal rock’ with the essence of the Time Stone in its core. 🟢
His previous horned helmets were gold and so is his new throne because he is an incarnation of Midas.⚱️
The Time Stone is green because of Loki. ‪Did he create it? Did he some how get it to Sanctum Sanctorum?‬ 🟢
‪Did Loki make Heimdall send Bruce to the Sanctum in Infinity War since Loki had been there before (in Ragnarok?) Is that why Bruce mentions ‘Loki’ to Tony, Stephen and Wong informing and warning them about Thanos?‬
So Loki WAS supposed to take the Tesseract in the Endgame heist after all. Kang planned it! 🤯🟦
He can read and control minds 🟡 He can traverse space 🔵 He can control and manipulate time 🟢 He has died and came back to life many times and sacrificed his soul to save the multiverse 🟠 He can manipulate reality with powerful illusions 🔴 He has the power of the multiverse as he absorbed *THREE* black holes when the loom exploded 🟣 And he can rewrite *EVERYTHING!* 🖊️📖 ✨🤯
He is an *OMNIPRESENT, OMNIPOTENT NEXUS BEING* at this point! He can harness all the power of the *MULTIVERSE* after absorbing time and space from the temporal loom! His power is only second to that of the CELESTIALS!! 🤯
*SCREW* the infinity stones! He *IS* the infinity stones He’s essentially a living *INFINITY GAUNTLET!* 🌀🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣 and said *“Fine. I’ll do it myself.”* And recruit heroes from across the multiverse in order to defeat Kang! 😎
He’s the most powerful Marvel character at this point. Creating the world tree, absorbing the multiverse and governing everything in it, *PERIOD!* No need for infinity stones ANYMORE! 🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣
He (Loki) just *LITERALLY* erased, reset and rebooted and *SAVED* the MCU! 🤯🌀
Is the Time Stone green because of Loki? His eyes were *VERY* green after the temporal loom exploded. Did he create it? Did he some how get it to Sanctum Sanctorum?‬ 🟢
‪Did Loki make Heimdall send Bruce to the Sanctum in Infinity War since Loki had been there before (in Ragnarok?) Is that why Bruce mentions ‘Loki’ to Tony and Stephen informing and warning them about Thanos?‬
‪This show just changed Marvel in just about EVERY WAY! 🤯 ‬
He didn’t ‘break the loop.’ He ‘became the loop’ in order to save his friends, family and the entire multiverse. ♾️
Tony sacrificed himself to save half of the universe. Loki sacrificed himself to save the entire *MULTIVERSE!* 🤯
He’s not only the ‘protector of the nine realms’ but *ALL* of existence in *EVERY UNIVERSE!* Making him *MORE* powerful than Odin the ‘All-Father.’ 🤯
He can hear, see, influence and *FEEL* every being in the *ENTIRE MULTIVERSE!* 💚
He didn’t take the infinity stones or crave power anymore but to instead protect the universe and that’s what he’s doing and *THAT* gave him the ultimate power of God! 🥹💚 🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣🚫
The reason that the multiverse exists is because of Loki and how Deadpool, the X-Men etc can enter the MCU.
It really was ‘Loki All Along.’ 😉💚
Portal to My Heart (Book 1.5) Chapter Three
Loki x Reader
Chapter Three: Beyond Asgard
Summary: A new threat arrives on Asgard.
            “You know, I can make a portal as big as my head now, so pretty soon I’ll be coming in there and giving you a good punch for all the insults you keep throwing at—” (Y/N) jolted as she spoke to Loki and grabbed onto the square pillar by his cell. Her vision swam, and she fell to her knees.
            Loki stepped to the edge of his cell, smirk falling. “Midgardian?”
            (Y/N) blinked as darkness closed around her vision. The veins around her eyes glowed blue as she jolted again. “God…Ow…” Her grip on the pillar tightened while she tried to stand back up and blink the energy away. “Not…again…”
            “Midgardian?”
            (Y/N) slumped to the ground.
            “(Y/N)?” Loki knelt on the other side of the energy barrier, gazing at (Y/N)’s prone body. “(Y/N)?” Nothing. “Guards! Guards!”
l
            (Y/N) was floating in darkness. In front of her was a woman with light red-brown hair in a dress and a human jacket. Red energy screeched and swarmed around her. Her eyes flew open as she absorbed the energy. Her eyes turned black with a slight glow of red. The screeching grew louder, and (Y/N)’s vision once again blurred.
l
            (Y/N)’s eyes opened to find herself on a bed. Several women in Asgardian nurse and doctor uniforms moved around the room, whispering to one another.
            “Where am I?” groaned (Y/N).
            “Oh, my,” said one nurse, coming to her side. “My Queen, she is awake.”
            Frigga appeared next to (Y/N) as the nurse helped her sit up. “You collapsed while making a visit to the dungeons.” She gazed at (Y/N) in worry. “Your magic seemed to be collected around your eyes. What happened?”
            “I think I had a vision or something,” said (Y/N), groaning and massaging her temple.
            “A vision? You didn’t mention you had such abilities,” said Frigga sharply.
            “I forgot. It only happened when I was tied to Loki’s magic, so I guess I figured it was just his,” said (Y/N).
            Frigga furrowed her brow. “Visions are dangerous. For your mind to sense magic from lightyears away…it can affect you deeply. What did you see?”
            “A woman surrounded by darkness, and she absorbed a strange red energy,” said (Y/N).
            Frigga straightened. “You saw Jane Foster and the Aether.”
            “Who and the what?” said (Y/N).
            “Come with me,” said Frigga, helping (Y/N) to her feet. “Whatever is happening, you must know as well if the Aether sensed you and connected to your mind.”
            “What is the Aether?” said (Y/N) urgently.
            “All will be explained,” said Frigga.
            She brought (Y/N) into a library where Odin, Thor, and a human woman stood.
            “My Queen, this is not the time to instruct your Midgardian,” said Odin.
            (Y/N) bit the inside of her cheek at being called Frigga’s Midgardian as if she was some sort of pet. She didn’t like Odin.
            “(Y/N) had a vision of Miss Foster with the Aether,” said Frigga. She looked at her husband significantly. “At the precise moment Heimdall lost Miss Foster from his vision.” Odin’s gaze darkened if at all possible.
            (Y/N) and Jane Foster glanced at each other. Clearly, this was a whole issue.
            “Then its power is indeed as formidable as I remember,” said Odin, turning and searching for a book.
            Jane glanced at (Y/N) as they watched him. “Are you…Weren’t you on the news after Loki’s defeat at New York?”
            (Y/N) considered. “Oh, yeah, I guess there were cameras outside when Pierce was being an asshole.”
            “Wait, you were with the Avengers?” said Jane.
            “It’s a long story,” said (Y/N).
            Odin finished the conversation as he placed a book on the table. “There are relics that pre-date the universe themselves. What lies within Jane Foster appears to be one of them, just as the relic that caused (Y/N) (L/N) to gain magic. The Nine Realms are not eternal. But before that dawn, dark forces, the Dark Elves, reigned absolute and unchallenged.” He turned the pages to a design of elves with dark eyes and white faces. One held a swirling black and red mass as the others bowed to it.
            “ ‘Born of eternal night, the Dark Elves come to steal away the light,’ ” said Thor, reading from the book. “I know these stories.”
            “Yes. I told you them as a child,” said Frigga.
            “Their leader Malekith made a weapon out of that darkness, and it was called the Aether,” said Odin. “While the other relics often appear as stones, the Aether is fluid and everchanging. It changes matter into dark matter. It seeks out host bodies, drawing strength from their life-force. Malekith sought to use the Aether’s power to return the universe to one of darkness. But, after eternities of bloodshed, my father Bor finally triumphed, ushering in a peace that lasted thousands of years.”
            “What happened?” asked (Y/N). There had to be a catch.
            “He killed them all,” said Odin.
            Ah. Great. (Y/N) liked Odin less and less the more she learned about him.
            “Are you certain?” said Thor. “The Aether was said to have been destroyed with them, and yet here it is.”
            “The Dark Elves are dead,” said Odin shortly.
            I’d bet anything they’re not, thought (Y/N).
            “Does your book happen to mention how to get it out of me?” said Jane.
            “No,” said Odin. “It does not.” He turned and left the room.
            “Helpful,” muttered (Y/N), ignoring that she was speaking in front of the entire Asgardian royal family (minus Loki).
l
            “Odin continues to bring me new friends,” said Loki sarcastically as he watched guards march more criminals into the dungeon. “How thoughtful.”
            “My apologies that your usual discussion partner isn’t here,” said Frigga, conjuring an illusion behind Loki. “But I did leave you books once more.”
            “Yes, because that is how I shall spend my eternity here,” said Loki, scoffing.
            “I’ve done everything in my power to make you comfortable, Loki,” said Frigga in exhaustion.
            “Have you?” Loki sneered. “Does Odin share your concern? Does Thor? It must be so inconvenient, them asking after me day and night.”
            “You know full well it was your actions that brought you here,” said Frigga sternly.
            “My actions?” Loki raised an eyebrow. “I was merely giving truth to the lie that I had been fed my entire life…that I was born to be a king.”
            “A king?” said Frigga. “A true king admits his faults. What of the lives you took on Midgard? What about how you permanently destroyed (Y/N)’s Midgardian life?”
            Loki clenched his jaw before speaking smoothly. “A mere handful compared to the number that Odin has taken himself.”
            “Your father—”
            “He’s not my father!” shouted Loki.
            Frigga stared at Loki for a moment. “Then am I not your mother?”
            Loki’s gaze softened, and he opened his mouth and closed it again before speaking. “You’re not.” The words were out, forced and short.
            Frigga chuckled mirthlessly. “You’re so perceptive about everyone but yourself.”
            Loki softened and reached out to her, shaking his head at his own words. His hand slid through Frigga’s illusion sadly, and he watched as the pale green light faded away.
            “(Y/N) is alright, Loki. You should know that,” said Frigga as she disappeared.
            Loki stared at the place where she had just stood. A part of him mourned her disappearance and his harsh words. She was his mother. She was. Another part of him relaxed as he heard that (Y/N) was alright. Whatever had happened to her hadn’t been serious.
            Loki turned away to face the wall. This entire thing was nonsense. He shouldn’t care for what Frigga did or said. She was just another member of his “family” leaving him on his own in this dungeon. And (Y/N) was just a Midgardian. He didn’t have a reason to have worried for her when she collapsed.
            No. No reason at all.
l
            A siren blared through the palace, and Jane jumped. (Y/N) tensed, Frigga’s eyes narrowed slightly, and Thor stepped out worriedly.
            “The prisons,” said Frigga.
            An escape? An attack? It could be anything, and (Y/N) bit the inside of her cheek.
            “Loki…” said Thor.
            “Go,” said Frigga. “I will look after these two.”
            Thor nodded, ran to a balcony, and jumped off the side. He caught Mjolnir midair and flew off.
            “Come with me,” said Frigga, sweeping into the palace.
            “Send a squadron to the weapons vault,” said Odin as he passed with a group of guards. “Defend it at all costs. Secure the dungeon.”
            “Odin,” said Frigga.
            “Frigga,” said Odin. “Go!” He ordered the guards off before addressing the group of women again. “It’s a skirmish. Nothing to fear.”
            “You’ve never been a very good liar,” said Frigga.
            “Take them to your chambers. I’ll come for you when it’s safe,” said Odin.
            “You take care,” said Frigga.
            Odin gazed at his wife fondly. “Despite all I have survived, my queen still worries for me.”
            “It’s only because I worry over you that you have survived,” said Frigga. She took (Y/N) and Jane gently by the arm. “Come.” She stole a dagger from a guard as they passed. “Listen to me now. I need you two to do everything I ask, no questions.”
            “Yes, ma’am,” said Jane.
            “No, I already have tons,” said (Y/N).
            “Well, we don’t have time,” said Frigga, although slightly amused by (Y/N).
            As they ran up the stairs to Frigga’s quarters, explosions sounded outside. The group paused at a window and looked out. Strange, knife-like ships were slicing through the city, coming straight for the palace.
            Frigga’s gaze darkened. “As soon as we arrive in my chambers, I want you to enter the closet and take the escape passage through there.” She threw open the door and ushered them in. With a wave of her hand, two illusions of (Y/N) and Jane appeared beside her. “I will stay here.”
            “What? No, we can’t leave you here,” said (Y/N).
            “You can, and you will.” Frigga looked at (Y/N). “Your abilities have grown, but we do not know if you can fight, and I won’t risk your life now. Listen to me, (Y/N), and go.”
            (Y/N) bit the inside of her cheek. “Fine. Please, be careful.”
            Frigga smiled. “Be safe.”
            (Y/N) and Jane cast her another worried look before running into the closet. (Y/N) pulled several dresses to the side and found a panel. She pushed it open and pushed Jane in first before sliding in behind her.
            “What’s going on?” said Jane worriedly.
            “I have my bet on Dark Elves being alive and coming for the Aether in you,” said (Y/N).
            “I thought Odin said they were dead,” said Jane.
            “I think even the King of Asgard can get it wrong sometimes,” said (Y/N).
            “No!” Thor’s scream pierced the air, echoing through the tunnel (Y/N) and Jane stood in, and they froze.
            “Frigga…” said (Y/N), eyes widening. She turned and ran back up the stairs.
            “(Y/N)!” Jane called after her and followed.
            They arrived back in Frigga’s room, and their eyes widened. Odin and Thor stood beside her, solemn and mournful. (Y/N) knew the truth at once. Frigga was gone.
            And (Y/N) hadn’t been able to do anything to protect her.
l
            (Y/N) stood beside Odin, Thor, and Jane as she watched the funeral. Frigga’s body was veiled and laid to rest on a ship filled with flowers. It carried her through the main river of Asgard and into the waters beyond.
            A lone archer lit his arrow in flames and fired. The blaze arced through the sky like a shooting star before lighting the funeral ship. A volley of flame-tipped arrows followed the first, dotting the sky with light and landed on the rest of the funeral ships follow Frigga, the brave men who had given their lives against the Dark Elves.
            The ships reached the edge of Asgard, and Odin struck the ground with his staff. The funeral procession flew out across the galaxies beyond Asgard, and amongst the flames, they turned to stardust, leaving nothing but scattered light behind in this world.
            (Y/N)’s heart ached at the peace and beauty of the moment as anger and chaos raged within. Blue sparks lit her fists. She swallowed and forced herself to remain calm. She wouldn’t disrupt Frigga’s funeral and memory. (Y/N) lifted her mourning lantern up into the air and let the pale orb float upwards, shining in the night among the rest of the glowing spheres. The entire city was silent as they watched the false stars decorate the night.
            Frigga returned to the stars from whence she came.
l
            Loki sat against the wall of his cell, keeping up the appearance of his wellness as he mourned his mother behind the illusion. Tears had long since dried on his cheeks, and he gripped his hair painfully.
            His mother was dead, and the last thing he had said to her was claiming she wasn’t his mother. But she was. She was. And now Loki would never get a chance to tell her.
            In front of him, a slight blue glow appeared. Loki lifted his eyes slightly, remaining against the wall despondently. The glow expanded into a small portal. A glowing sphere rolled through, and the portal disappeared.
            Loki’s eyes widened, and he reached out. A mourning lantern.
Endgame (Chapter Seven)
Tumblr media
Summary: (Y/N), Thor and Rocket travel to 2013 Asgard on a mission for the Reality Stone, but an unexpected setback forces (Y/N) to seek the help of an old friend.
Pairing: Steve Rogers X Reader
Word Count: 5.2k
Warnings/Disclaimers: Disclaimer for a depiction and discussion of grief disorders, PTSD and their symptoms, and a brief scene depicting a panic attack
A/N: This was a very sad chapter to write but also one I’m incredibly proud of! Thank you for reading, I hope you all enjoy!
Chapter Seven May 2013 Asgard (Previous Chapter)
With a blinding flash of light, the trio swiftly grew to their usual heights and landed with wobbly legs onto a stone-covered floor, taking a moment to regain their bearings before deactivating their Quantum suits and looking up at their surroundings. They were standing in the middle of a grand chamber, with towering pillars carved with sophisticated designs and domed ceilings decorated to perfection with intricate paintings detailing the long history of Asgard; the edges of the arched windows were adorned with gold moldings and as she looked out at the sprawling city outside, (Y/N) couldn’t help but smile through the sadness brought on by the beautiful sight. Asgard had once been a stunning realm filled with such rich history and technological achievements rivaled only by Wakanda’s, but it was violently destroyed and those who survived Ragnarok had been decimated twice-over by Thanos. We can’t fix what happened to their home or the attack they suffered on the Statesman, but we can sure as hell bring their Vanished friends and family back to them, (Y/N) silently vowed, brushing off her brand-new black tactical uniform and adjusting the pieces of her old Asgardian armor.
“Now this is more like it,” Rocket muttered as he took an appreciative look at their opulent surroundings. “This fancy palace has a treasure vault, right?”
(Y/N) gave the raccoon a stern look. “That’s not what we’re here for, Rocket.”
“Hey, it was just an idea!” He exclaimed defensively. “You know, (Y/L/N), the Tesseract’s just collecting dust down there in that vault right now; explain why we couldn’t just grab it while we’re already here for the Reality Stone, again?”
A sharp clattering noise echoed off the stone walls and caused them both to draw their blasters as they whirled around, only to see Thor stumbling away from the gilded candelabra he’d knocked over and lumbering out of the chamber. “Because as it is, our hands are plenty full without adding another Infinity Stone to our mission.” (Y/N) slung her blaster’s strap over her shoulders and hurried after the semi-sober Asgardian. “Thor!”
The sound of approaching footsteps at the end of the hallway spurred her on and she managed to shove Thor behind the nearest pillar just in the nick of time, quickly clamping a hand over his mouth to muffle his protests as the footsteps grew louder. Four familiar Asgardians soon strode past their hiding spot, thankfully unaware of their presence as they walked with purpose: a fair-skinned woman with flowing black hair and shining silver armor, a blonde man sporting a carefully groomed mustache and goatee, a larger man with a frizzy head of bright red hair and a bushy beard, and a shorter man with slicked-back dark hair and intelligent eyes beneath a prominent brow. Thor’s own eyes were filled with longing and regret as he watched the foursome disappear from view; when (Y/N) removed her hand from his mouth, he croaked out, “My friends. Those are…those were my friends…”
“Sif, Fandral, Volstagg and Hogun, right?” Thor nodded and (Y/N) gave his shoulder a consoling squeeze. “I’ve seen flashes of them in Loki’s memories; they seemed like they were very loyal friends to you.”
“They were…but not to Loki. They hardly ever treated Loki kindly…” The Asgardian’s voice shook with grief. “W-Why didn’t I ever tell them to stop?”
“Thor-”
“Why didn’t I speak up for my brother?”
Rocket poked his head around the column. “The coast is clear, guys, c’mon!” He frowned when he noticed Thor’s emotional state and (Y/N)’s helpless expression. “Everything okay, Thor?”
Taking a trembling breath, Thor nodded once and attempted to smile. “Yes, I-I’m fine. Jane’s chambers are this way.”
The Asgardian reluctantly took the lead and as they made their way down the deserted hallway, (Y/N) and Rocket exchanged a knowing look; Thor was handling their mission far worse than they anticipated and the sooner they got their hands on the Aether, the sooner they could get him home and away from the triggering memories of his past. Once they reached the end of the hall, they found themselves standing in a large corridor lined with columns, elevated tombs and flame-filled basins, the warm sunlight streaming through the windows illuminating the space and the sweet smell of roses filling the pleasantly warm air.
“Someone’s coming!”
Rocket grabbed onto (Y/N)’s belt and pulled her behind the nearest crypt as she latched her hands around Thor’s arm, and the three of them pressed themselves closer to the carved stone as a handmaiden walked past and knocked on the nearest door; (Y/N) peeked around the crypt and watched as the door opened to reveal Doctor Jane Foster, smiling to herself when the scientist balked at the bundle of fabric draped over the handmaiden’s arm. “For you, Lady Jane.”
“…Um, do you have anything with…pants?”
“Pants?”
Jane’s brown eyes widened at the Asgardian’s confusion and quickly replied, “Never mind, these will be fine. Thank you.”
“Yes, milady.”
When the door closed and the handmaiden walked away, they stood and Thor’s eyes remained fixated on the door ahead of them. “That’s Jane…”
“Okay, I think the easiest way to get that stone would be for me to go in there by myself and explain our situation to her.” (Y/N) reached into her pocket and withdrew the small extraction device that Bruce and Tony created for them the night before. “She’s a brilliant scientist with a deep understanding of quantum physics, so this shouldn’t be too much of a stretch for her to believe; the fact that we’re both human and both women doesn’t hurt, either.”
“Or, we can get Tubby over there to charm her so that I can poke her with that thing and extract the Reality Stone,” Rocket countered as he scampered up onto the crypt and shrugged. “And then, we’ll get gone lickety-split before we run into any of those creepy-ass Dark Elves.”
Rolling her eyes in exasperation, (Y/N) turned to ask for Thor’s opinion and frowned when she noticed how he was backing away from them. “Thor?”
“I’ll be back, okay? There’s a wine cellar that’s just down there. My father used to have this huge barrel of Aakonian ale that you guys might like, so I’ll see if the scullery has a couple of to-go cups…”
A displeased Rocket crossed his arms over his chest. “Aren’t you drunk enough already?” The sounds of more approaching footsteps forced them to duck down behind the crypt and they watched as a small group of women walked through the corridor; the woman leading the group was beautiful, with long flaxen hair that was styled to perfection and an ornate blue dress adorned with pieces of golden armor, and (Y/N) didn’t need to delve into Loki’s memories or even glance over at Thor to know who she was. When the Queen of Asgard and her handmaidens turned the corner, Rocket stood up on the crypt and turned towards them. “Who’s the fancy broad?”
“It’s my mother…” Thor croaked, his expression crumpling as his eyes filled with more tears. “She dies today.”
“…Oh.”
(Y/N)’s brow furrowed in worry as the Asgardian’s breathing accelerated and his unfocused eyes darted around his surroundings. “Are you okay, Thor?”
Thor shook his head. “I-I can’t do this, I can’t do this. I shouldn’t be here, I shouldn’t have come. This was a bad idea…”
“Come here,” Rocket demanded, gesturing to the spot in front of him.
“No, no, no, I think I’m having…I-I’m having a panic attack.”
(Y/N) took a cautious step closer to him. “I think you are, too. I need you to take a deep breath for me, Thor, can you do that?”
“I shouldn’t be here, I shouldn’t be here…”
“Come here. Right here.”
“I shouldn’t be here…this is…th-this is a bad-”
Rocket slapped Thor in the face and (Y/N)’s jaw dropped in outrage. “Seriously, Rocket?!”
The raccoon was unperturbed by her outburst as he launched into his stern tirade. “You think you’re the only one who lost people? What do you think we’re doing here? I lost the only family I ever had; Quill, Groot, Drax, the chick with the antenna, all gone.” He pointed at (Y/N). “(Y/L/N) here lost her frikin’ baby! Now, I get you miss your mom, but she’s gone. Really gone. And there are plenty of people who are only kinda gone…but you can help them. So, is it too much to ask that you brush the crumbs outta your beard, make schmoopy talk to Pretty Pants, and when she’s not looking, such out the Infinity Stone and help us get our families back?”
As he took in his teammate’s impassioned words, Thor started to wipe away his tears. “O-Okay.”
“We both believe in you, Thor,” (Y/N) added, reaching forward and taking one of his large hands in hers, an encouraging smile on her face despite her mounting apprehension. “You can do this.”
“Yes.” The Asgardian nodded to himself. “Yes, I can.”
“Good.” Rocket jumped down from the crypt and gave (Y/N) a sheepish look as they fell into step. “Was the slap too much?”
(Y/N) sighed and nodded. “Undoubtedly, but the speech was just right.” She spared Thor, who was murmuring words of encouragement to himself and anxiously adjusting his stained sweater, a brief glance over her shoulder before grimacing and whispering, “I still think my plan is better. Thor doesn’t seem okay, Rocket, and he shouldn’t be doing this right after having a panic attack.”
“Nah, he’s fine! Isn’t that right, Heartbreaker?” They both turned around to see an empty stretch of corridor and no Thor in sight. “Thor? Thor!”
With a groan of frustration, (Y/N) closed her eyes and dropped her head into her hand. “Dammit, this cannot be happening right now…”
Rocket’s mouth hung open in stunned disbelief as he turned to her and threw his hands up into the air. “Well, what the hell do we do now?!”
“I don’t know, Rocket, just give me a second to think,” She snapped back and fought to keep her own rising panic in check. “Shit, shit, shit. We can’t search the palace for someone who doesn’t want to be found and steal an Infinity Stone at the same time, not when the Dark Elves will be launching their attack soon…” While she thought up various scenarios only to deem them improbable in the same moment, (Y/N) recalled the last piece of advice she’d received from Natasha before embarking on their slowly-unraveling time heist.
“Stay safe out there, hot-shot; don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
Natasha would know exactly what to do, (Y/N) thought to herself as she called to mind her friend’s parting words, she’d get in touch with one of her hundreds of contacts around the globe and formulate the perfect plan while only going off her intuition-
“That’s it!” (Y/N) exclaimed, bending down and pressing the extraction device into Rocket’s small hand. “Here, take this and if I’m not back in twenty minutes, then you’ve got my permission to get that stone by any means necessary.” She gave his shoulder a gentle pat before turning and sprinting away down the corridor. “I’ll be back soon!”
“Wait, where the hell are you going?!”
“To ask an old friend for a favor!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Considering how technologically-advanced Asgard was and how physically powerful its people were compared to humans, it was fairly easy for (Y/N) to break into the palace’s underground dungeons; a small scuffle and a couple of stun discs later, she was brushing herself off and stepping into the maze of cells in search of her old friend. Each cell was walled off by glowing gold-tinged force fields, translucent so that visitors could see in and prisoners could look out, and (Y/N) found herself quickly scanning each occupied cell as she jogged down the eerily-silent halls.
When she rounded the first block of cells, (Y/N) skidded to a sudden stop and her breath hitched as her eyes landed on the figure lying in the cell before her. Loki Odinson – the God of Mischief, the youngest Prince of Asgard and her unlikely friend – was reclined on his bed, his ankles crossed and an arm tucked beneath his head while he tossed a silver cup high into the air over and over again. His handsome features were etched with boredom and perhaps a hint of self-pity, and (Y/N) found herself beginning to tear up; Loki had spent so much of his life believing that he didn’t truly belong and that no one would come to understand him, but (Y/N) did. In the short time they knew one another, the pair bonded over their shared loneliness and the dangerous situation that they were forced to navigate together and in that brief period of time, she saw a side of him that very few people had ever had the privilege of seeing. As painful as it was to see him in such a saddened state, she couldn’t help but feel happy to glimpse the man who helped her deliver her daughter and fought side-by-side with her again, so many years after his tragic death.
“Haven’t you heard, mortal? It’s dangerous to speak to the villainous God of Mischief all alone,” Loki suddenly remarked, continuing to toss and catch his silver cup without a single glance in her direction. “Now, run along back to Thor and leave me to my solitary existence; I’m sure that my dear brother is missing his new little pet.”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes and didn’t bother stifling her exasperated snort. “A little dramatic, aren’t we? My name is (Y/N); I’m Thor’s friend, not ‘pet,’ and the theatrics are entirely unnecessary because I’m not afraid of you.”
“Then you must either be very brave or very foolish.” The youngest Prince of Asgard set his cup down on his nightstand and closed his eyes, his unoccupied hand fiddling with the hem of his emerald-green Asgardian day-robes. “Regardless, you’ve momentarily piqued my interest. What makes you so confident that I’m different from all the stories you’ve undoubtedly heard from my dear brother?”
“Because I know you, Loki…or I will, in about five years or so.” She smiled triumphantly when her old friend’s fingers stilled against the stitches and his brows briefly twitched together in puzzlement, and she continued on before he could find a way to interrupt her. “You’ve lived your entire life in your older brother’s shadow, you use the power of fear to push others away when they dare to try and understand you, and you firmly believe that your true heritage is what makes you a monster. But you see, the Loki that I know is so much more than that; he’s kind and caring, fiercely protective over the ones he cares about and even though he can be a little bit of a pain in the ass sometimes, he’s one of the few people I’d trust to have my back in a fight.”
After a long moment of silence, Loki chuckled to himself as he stared up at the cell’s ceiling. “Thor seems to have grown more callous during my year of imprisonment, sending his new mortal friend here to torture me so ruthlessly. Tell me, were you trained in the art of deception by Agent Romanoff? Is this the Avengers’ clever ruse to unbalance my mind because if it is, you’ll be disappointed to learn that my sanity abandoned me years ago-”
“When Thanos and the Black Order tortured you?”
The lighthearted smile on his face vanished and was replaced by a darkened glare as he got up from the bed and slowly stalked towards the cell’s force field; although it might’ve been her mind playing tricks on her, she thought that she spotted a glimmer of something – recognition, perhaps – in his blue-green eyes, but it was gone as quickly as it appeared and before she could ponder its meaning more, the God of Mischief finally spoke with a dangerously steady voice and a distrustful mask on his face. “Who told you of such things?”
“You did. In 2018, you saved mine and my daughter’s lives by helping us escape Thanos and when you did, you used your magic to place certain memories of yours into my mind so that I could warn the Avengers of his impending invasion. It didn’t do much good, though; Thanos still collected all six Infinity Stones in the end.” A line formed between Loki’s brows as he searched her face for signs of deceit and his frown deepened when he found none; she took another step closer to the humming force field and crossed her arms over her chest, anxiously aware of how little time she had left before the Dark Elves’ imminent attack. “I traveled here from 2023 to reverse the destruction that Thanos wrought on the universe, but I need your help to do it.”
Loki plucked at the palm of his hand, a nervous gesture she’d seen him do countless times during their turbulent month on Sakaar, and although he did his best to hide it, she could practically see the wheels in his head turning as he considered her words. “I spent centuries mastering and perfecting my magic, cultivating it until I became one of the most powerful magic-wielders Asgard has ever seen…but in all that time, I’ve only been able to conjure a premonition once; a glimpse of a conversation I would come to share with an unlikely confidant.”
Searching his intense gaze, (Y/N)’s eyes widened as she pieced together what he was inferring; the glimmers of recognition apparent in his blue-green eyes when they first met in Greenwich Village in 2018 and just then when she approached his prison cell, they all swiftly clicked into place and made perfect sense. “You saw me?”
Loki nodded. “So tell me, (Y/N) of Midgard, if you’re truly who you say you are, then what did I once tell you about my magic?”
“That your mother taught you magic to help set you apart from Thor. Although it made people more wary of you, to you it became a comfort,” She recalled without a moment’s pause, even smiling a little as she thought back to the deep conversations they’d once shared while learning to survive together on Sakaar. “You once told me that every time you turned a flower into a frog or cast fireworks into the sky, you’d hear your mother’s voice in your head reminding you that you can do anything.”
It was an unmovable fact that the Loki that (Y/N) knew was dead and gone, having died a heroic death at the hands of Thanos and knowing in his heart how much he was loved by his friends and his brother. The Loki standing before her hadn’t yet experienced the heartaches, betrayals, kindnesses and redemptions that would shape him into the man who helped her give birth on a hostile alien planet and who was there for her when she had no one else to turn to; as she looked at the younger Loki standing behind the glimmering force field, however, she could detect the hints of the man that he would become hidden beneath his air of posturing self-assuredness and the ghost of his trademark grin playing on his thin lips.
“When do we start?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sneaking through an Asgardian palace is much easier to accomplish with magic on your side, (Y/N) thought to herself with a sideways glance at her companion; Loki had cast an illusion over his appearance, disguising himself in the armor of a palace Einherjar and leaving a clone of himself behind in his prison cell, and to the average person’s eye he appeared entirely at ease as he led her down the grand hallways, but she knew better. He was shocked when she explained Thor’s deteriorating mental health in the wake of Thanos’ success and without a second thought, he told her exactly where Thor would go.
“My brother and I are different in almost every conceivable way, but we both hold our mother in the highest regard.”
“Okay, we’ll find Thor first and then we’ll figure out a way to get the Aether. C’mon, we’re running out of time…”
They hurried down the halls to the Queen’s chambers and (Y/N) kept apprehensively checking her watch, fully aware that their window to steal the Aether was shrinking more and more with each passing minute. But they couldn’t finish the mission until they retrieved Thor, so all (Y/N) could do was cross her fingers and hope that they found the Asgardian before the twenty-minute deadline she gave Rocket abruptly ended with Doctor Foster being unceremoniously stabbed with an extraction device wielded by a talking raccoon. When they turned a corner, they were met with an open doorway through which they could see two figures; Thor was seated on a settee at the foot of a massive bed, his elbows on his knees and his hands tightly clasped around a goblet of water, and Frigga stood at the massive window overlooking all of Asgard, patiently listening to her son as he told her of his supposed failures.
“Thor?” Loki breathed in disbelief beside her, seemingly at a loss for words as he numbly took in his older brother’s broken expression and harrowing appearance. “What…? What happened to him?”
(Y/N) gave him a sympathetic look. “Thanos happened. All of us were affected by what he did, but Thor took it the hardest.”
Her old friend considered her answer for a moment. “Earlier, you mentioned a daughter; she wasn’t spared from the Mad Titan’s wrath, was she?” She shook her head and he pursed his lips, wordlessly turning back towards the open doorway and listening in on the ongoing conversation within.
“His head was over there…his body over there…what was the point? I was too late.” Thor took a small sip of water before setting the goblet down on the table at the end of the settee. “I was just standing there, like some idiot with an axe.”
“You’re no idiot,” Frigga gently chided as she walked across the chamber to where her son sat. “You’re here, aren’t you? Seeking counsel from the wisest person in Asgard.” Before either of them could hide themselves from sight, the Queen of Asgard glanced over at the open doorway and gave them both a welcoming smile. “Well, one of the two wisest people on Asgard, at any rate.”
Loki quietly chuckled and used his magic to reverse his illusion, and (Y/N) swallowed the lump in her throat that formed when a stricken Thor set eyes on his younger brother. “As the clear runner-up for that particular title, I feel I should be offended that I wasn’t sought out for my sage advice as well.” (Y/N) trailed behind as he strode into the chamber and into his mother’s tight embrace; when they pulled away from one another, Frigga held onto Loki’s hand while he finally turned his attention to his brother. “Thor Odinson, an idiot? No. A failure? Absolutely.”
Thor snorted in amusement and wiped his stray tears away. “That’s a little bit harsh, brother…”
“And do you know what that makes you?” Frigga gave Loki’s hand a final squeeze before moving to sit beside her oldest son and brushing his unkempt hair behind his ear. “Just like everyone else.”
“But I’m not supposed to be like everyone else, am I?”
“Everyone fails at who they are supposed to be, Thor. The measure of a person – of a hero – is how well they succeed at being who they are.”
(Y/N) smiled to herself as she took in Frigga’s wise words; on paper, she was a historical-fiction novelist whose biggest challenge was keeping film studios from obtaining the rights to her novels and butchering them with terrible adaptations, but that certainly wasn’t who she was. She was a writer, a professor, a wife, a mother, and just a person willing to do the right thing no matter the consequences; she wasn’t quite comfortable calling herself a hero, of course, but she felt as though she was quite successful at being who she was. I knew that I’d like Frigga, she thought with a smile, crossing her arms over her chest and watching the touching scene play out before her, a familiar longing to hold Carina in her arms again taking hold of her.
With a sniffle, Thor looked up from his lap and gave his mother a small smile. “I really missed you, Mom.” They both leaned forward to rest their foreheads together and after a moment, Thor got to his feet and moved to stand before Loki, his mismatched eyes welling with fresh tears. “And I really missed you too, Loki.” The older Asgardian pulled his brother into a fierce hug; Loki stiffened in surprise but after a moment’s hesitation, he slowly wrapped his arms around Thor and buried his face in his shoulder.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, (Y/N).” Frigga stood from the settee and shook her hand. “Thor managed to tell me a little about you; it’s a comfort to know that my sons both have such a kind and understanding friend in the future.”
(Y/N) smiled. “It’s nice to meet you, too. I-”
“Wait.” They both turned to see Thor release Loki and look between his brother and his mother. “Mom, Loki, I-I have to tell you both something-”
“No, son, you don’t,” Frigga softly but firmly interrupted. “You’re here to repair your future, not ours.”
Thor shook his head. “But this is about your futures.”
The Queen of Asgard only continued to smile up at her oldest son, and (Y/N) briefly wondered if Loki wasn’t the only member of his family to receive a premonition through magic. “It’s none of our business.”
“Brother, I care not for what destiny supposedly has in store for me.” Loki held his arms out and gestured to himself with a mischievous grin spreading across his face. “I’m a Loki, aren’t I? I forge my own destiny; I always have and I always will.” The brothers shared a look before Loki turned to face (Y/N). “Shall we steal ourselves an Infinity Stone now?”
Before she had a chance to reply, a frazzled Rocket ran into the chambers on all fours and her eyes widened when she spotted the swirling red fluid within the extraction device clutched tight in his hand. “Rocket, I thought I told you to wait twenty minutes before doing anything crazy!”
“You’re lucky I even waited at all! Our window’s nearly closed and you’re both in here wasting time with these fancy-looking weirdos,” Rocket huffed in annoyance but he sobered when he realized that they weren’t alone. “Um, hi, you must be Mom and the little brother…”
“I beg your pardon?”
The raccoon ignored Loki’s indignant sputtering and held up the device containing the Aether for (Y/N) and Thor to see. “I got the thing. Come on, we’ve gotta move.”
As Thor said his goodbyes to his mother, (Y/N) turned to Loki and gave him a smile. “I’m not really sure how this time travel stuff works, but I do know that we’ll meet again someday soon. In five years, to be exact.”
“I look forward to it, mortal.” Her old friend inclined his head downwards in an informal bow. “Good luck.”
She moved to stand beside Rocket, who was tucking the extraction device into his belt pouch, and when Thor finally joined them, the raccoon began to tap away on his time-space GPS. “Come on, we’ve gotta go. Three, two-”
“No, wait!” Thor suddenly cried out, thrusting his arm out and stretching his palm open wide.
Rocket blinked in confusion. “What am I lookin’ at?”
A knowing smile played on Frigga’s lips. “Oh, sometimes it takes a second.”
Loki mumbled something under his breath about ineffectual weaponry and (Y/N) hid her amused smile behind her hand and not too long after, a whistling sound filled the air and a gust of wind ruffled their hair as Mjolnir flew straight into Thor’s grasp; the older Asgardian laughed in shock and delight, gripping his hammer’s handle tight and beaming up at them. “I’m still worthy.”
“I never once doubted you were,” (Y/N) replied, standing on her tiptoes and pressing a chaste kiss onto his flushed cheek. “But we’re out of time, Thor. Let’s finish this mission and go home, okay?”
There was a glimmer of longing in Thor’s mismatched eyes as he spared another glance at his family, but he gave her a firm nod and bravely squared his shoulders. “All right. Thank you, Writer (Y/L/N), for letting me see them again. I…I needed this, more that you’ll ever know.” He looked over at his mother and brother with a teary smile on his face. “Goodbye.”
Frigga blew him a kiss while Loki gave him a small wave. “Goodbye, Thor.”
The three of them activated the time-space GPS’s affixed around their hands and in an instant, their Quantum suits encased their bodies and they vanished into the Quantum Realm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With another blinding flash of light, they exited the Quantum Realm and grew to their normal heights as they reappeared on the platform in the middle of the hangar in 2023. (Y/N) released a breathless laugh and instantly launched herself into Steve’s arms, clinging to him as he tightened his hold on her and burying her face in the crook of his neck. Hearing the sounds of their teammates celebrating around her, (Y/N) smiled while her heart hammered away in her chest. “Did we do it, Steve? Did we actually do it?”
“I think so, sunshine…” Steve pressed a firm kiss onto her cheek before setting her down, his brow furrowing a little when he took note of her agape mouth. “What’s wrong?”
“What the hell are you wearing?” (Y/N)’s eyes widened as she took in her husband’s changed attire; instead of his older Captain America uniform. The super-soldier was dressed in vintage olive-green Army fatigues with the name ‘Roscoe’ stitched onto the breast pocket and a dark bruise was beginning to blossom across his cheek; her suspicions were confirmed when she glanced over at Tony and saw his similarly vintage clothes, and she loudly exclaimed, “You two went to the 70’s?!”
An impressed Tony nodded and clapped Steve on the shoulder. “Yeah, we got in a pickle and had to drop into a different convenient point in history to nab the Tesseract. How’d you know, Austen?”
“Because you’re wearing bell-bottom slacks, Tony, and those unfortunate abominations have the 70’s written all over them. Isn’t that right, Nat?”
(Y/N) looked away from the pair to give Natasha a grin but instead of the smirking spy, all she was met with was the sight of a sopping-wet Clint slumped onto his knees and staring down at the Quantum Tunnel platform. Grief was written across the archer’s features and (Y/N)’s grin slowly faded away as she realized that there were unshed tears in his reddened eyes; Steve’s hand tightened on her waist and as the sounds of celebration tapered off, Bruce took a small step towards the kneeling man. “Clint, where’s Nat?”
The archer didn’t answer, but no words were needed to understand the reason behind his tears. It was as though the world stopped spinning and as (Y/N)’s mind frantically raced to think of any possible reasons for her friend’s absence on that platform, she knew in her aching heart that Natasha Romanoff was gone.

The palace healers confirmed the field healer’s diagnosis: Loki had five fractured ribs, severe bruising, and several deep gashes. There was no hidden internal damage. As for the dislocated shoulder, the physician agreed that he could remove the sling for the wedding ceremony but advised Loki not to lift anything heavy for at least two weeks.
Loki frowned, “Define heavy.”
He had been given a sponge bath and intravenous fluids for hydration and was now resting in a medical bed surrounded by his family as the healer reviewed the results of his diagnostic tests.
“Sir, I would advise not lifting anything heavier than a pair of boots while you are on the mend. Surely, any one of the servants could help you carry anything you need to be moved.”
“To Hel with that.”
“Loki…” his mother scolded.
Thor chuckled, “Will you be taking volunteers to carry your bride across the threshold for you?”
“Absolutely not! Some wedding traditions should not be bypassed,” Loki fumed.
“Loki, be reasonable.” Frigga patted his good arm, “I am sure Sigyn will understand.”
“Can I go now?”
The healer eyed the nearly empty drip bottle on the IV pole. “Of course, let me unhook you, and I can have a nurse help you into some fresh clothes.” He pulled the needle from Loki’s arm and unhooked the various monitors and devices projecting readouts onto a holographic screen by his bed.
The intravenous fluids had rehydrated Loki and sobered him up. Now he was feeling the soreness and aches in his body and the embarrassment from the realization that he had spoken to Sigyn so lewdly in front of their fathers.
“I want to see Sigyn.” Loki sat up on the side of the bed as a nurse helped him into a fresh pair of trousers.
“She will be at the feast. Come, let me walk you back to your chambers. I can help you pick out something comfortable to wear to dinner,” Frigga offered.
Loki held his breath as he stood, “No, thank you, Mother. I think I can manage.”
“The Lady Sigyn and her parents have been waiting in the reception room, Your Highness.” The nurse supplied timidly as she helped Loki into a button-front shirt.
“Why were they not brought back?”
“They did not wish to interrupt, Your Highness.”
“Please show them in,” Odin offered.
“Right away, Your Majesty.” The nurse curtsied before she exited.
Loki sat back on the edge of his bed and held his side. He took shallow breaths as the healer placed his arm in a new sling. This one had better padding and did not cut into his neck like the simple cloth one hastily made in the field.
Sigyn appeared first, followed closely by her parents. She was still wearing her green silk dress, the mud dried on the hem, and her ruined silk slippers. “Your Majesties, Your Highnesses,” she curtsied deeply.
“Sigyn, my sweet. You did not need to come here, but I am happy you did.” He held his hand out to her. She accepted it eagerly and ran her other hand over his hair nervously.
“I just had to know that you were truly all right. I could not wait.”
“Like I said, just a few bumps and scratches, right, doctor?”
The physician stepped aside and ran his hand through his gray hair, “I cannot oblige that simplified diagnosis, My Prince. But I can assure your bride-to-be that you will fully recover.”
He looked directly at Sigyn, “He needs to rest. He should not be over-exerting himself for the next couple of weeks.”
She nodded her head in agreement before the realization of his meaning set in. Her cheeks pinked immediately, “Ohhh… I see.” She dropped her eyes to their interlaced fingers. She steeled her nerves, “But we can still… um… fulfill our duty?” She dared not look up.
“I don’t see why not. Get creative!” He moved to leave before stopping and pointing in her direction, “Just be gentle with him.” He added before he bowed and left the room.
“See? I am fine.”
“He did not say you are fine. He said you will be fine, eventually. Do not twist his words for me, Your Highness,” she scolded him.
He kissed her hand, “As cute as you are when you fret,” he rubbed the crease between her eyebrows, “I did not wish to worry you unnecessarily.”
“It is not unnecessarily, you… Prince.” She popped the p in ‘prince,’ wishing she could call him something else.
Loki suppressed a laugh, “So feisty,” he whispered as he rubbed his thumb on her back, his large hand splayed across her skin.
“The first time I let you out of my sight, something like this happens.”
“Your Highness?” Lady Anderson curtsied, “I…” she motioned to her husband, “Erik told me what happened out there.” She sobbed, “I do not have the words to express my gratitude, My Prince.” Tears spilled down her cheeks, “I do not know what I would have done if-”
“Now, do not give it another thought, My Lady.” Loki released Sigyn and stood. He wrapped his good arm around Lady Anderson and patted her back. “Shhh. Everything worked out as it should.”
She buried her face in his shoulder and sobbed. He stroked her hair and made soothing sounds close to her ear. “Everything is all right. His Lordship is fine. I am fine. Let us put this in the past.”
“Goodness.” She looked up at him and patted his cheek. “Thank you.  I will never be able to repay you...” She whispered before kissing his other cheek. She released him and made her way to her husband’s side. “Apologies for your shirt.”
Loki looked down at the tear stains on his shoulder. “This is nothing, My Lady.” With a wave of his hand, he dried his shirt with his seiðr.
“I will never get used to that, no matter how often I see it,” she said.
“Well then,” there was a glimmer of green light as a nosegay of light pink roses appeared in Loki’s hand, “For you, My Lady. May you always find magic in the everyday.” Loki bowed as he presented the flowers to Sigyn’s mother. Astrid accepted them with a squeal of delight.
“Now he is just showing off,” Thor whispered to Sigyn.
“I think it is wonderful,” she replied dreamily, her hand over her heart.
Loki turned his attention back to Sigyn, and his breath caught in his throat. For a brief moment, something new flashed in her eyes. He took her chin in his hand. “Did you see that?” he asked, staring at her face.
“See what?” She gently pushed his hand away. “Why does everyone keep doing that to me today?”
He glanced at his mother; she gave her head a single shake.
“Because everyone is captivated by your beautiful face.” He pressed a kiss to her temple.
She rolled her eyes, “Loki…”
“Apologies, Your Majesty,” Henrik, the King’s assistant, poked his head just inside the door.
“Come in.”
Henrik bowed, “I am sorry to interrupt. There is a… matter that needs your urgent attention, sir.” His eyes shifted nervously to Loki and then to the floor.
“Very well. If you all will excuse me.” Odin gave Frigga an affectionate squeeze on her arm before he made his way around the bed. Everyone bowed and curtsied as he left with Henrik.
“Well then,” Frigga clapped her hands before her, “There is some time before the feast begins; let us all get cleaned up and changed. Then we can have a big dinner and a good night’s sleep.”
“Sounds wonderful. I will see everyone at dinner.” Thor clapped Loki on the back, bowed to his mother then quickly exited.
Loki followed Sigyn into the hallway and took her by the elbow. “Might I steal Sigyn for a brief moment?”
Lord Anderson nodded, “We will wait here.” Lady Anderson bid farewell to the Queen and watched as Loki led Sigyn down the hall just out of earshot.
He was suddenly nervous.
“Hi,” he said sheepishly, running his hand through his hair.
“Hello.” Sigyn giggled. “What is this about?”
“Well, first of all…” He waved his hand over her, and her dress and shoes were magically restored to like new. “This dress is one of my favorites on you. I did not wish to see it ruined.” He started to reach out to touch it but quickly shoved his hand in his pocket instead.
“Thank you.” She pointed her toes out before her, admiring her clean slipper. “It is one of my favorites as well. I like the way you look at me when I wear it.”
“This leads me to the next subject I wanted to discuss.”
“Okay,” she eyed him curiously.
“I am sorry our reunion today was so…”
“Showy?” Sigyn arched an eyebrow.
“Yes. Exactly. I should not have consumed so much ale on our way home, but I was in pain and hungover, and Thor…” He looked up to the ceiling, “Thor was getting all sentimental.”
“I understand.”
“You are my precious gift. I should not have spoken to you in such a manner in front of our fathers. I do not wish you to think I would cheapen you in that way if I had all my wits about me.” He pulled his hand from his pocket to touch hers. He picked up her hand like it was made of glass. “I love you. I am sorry if I embarrassed you.”
“You did not embarrass me.” She looked at her feet, “Well, maybe just a little bit. But I was so scared when I saw you were hurt and so relieved when I finally saw you were okay. I may have gotten a little carried away myself. Sometimes I forget that we are not already wed.”
“It is said that love makes fools of us all.”
“The ale does not help either, hmm?”
Loki chuckled, “Not at all.” He winced. “Ahh.”
Sigyn’s hands flew to his side, “What is the matter? What can I do?”
“Ahh, sorry, kitten. I just took too deep of a breath. I am fine,” he kissed her temple.
“You were so brave, saving my father.” She gave him a sly smile, “Maybe I can practice being gentle with you tonight. We could leave the feast early.”
“Tempting. But I really should save my strength for our wedding night.” He started walking her back toward her parents.
She pouted, “I suppose.”
It was then that a court messenger came jogging around the corner. “Your Highness,” he bowed.
“What is it?”
“The King requests your presence in the throne room right away.”
“Very well. Tell His Majesty that I am on my way.”
The messenger nodded and bowed, then returned the way he came.
“Have you seen the throne room yet, my dear?”
Sigyn shook her head, “No. I hear it is exquisite.”
“Would you like to come with me? You can watch as the King fills me in on what is so urgent that it cannot wait until tomorrow. Most likely, a pair of merchants squabbling over exclusivity rights to sell dyed cloth or tools of some kind. It will most likely be trivial and very boring.”
“Yes, I would love to. Papa, can I go with the Prince to see the King at work?”
“There and then straight to the feasting hall.” He looked at Loki, “No side trips through the orchard or wherever it is you kids like to sneak off to.”
“Papa…”
“Erik?” Lady Anderson looked between the two.
“Throne room, then the feasting hall. In that order. I promise.” Loki held his hand out to the Lord.
He shook it and gave him a nod, “See you at dinner, Your Highness, pumpkin.”
Loki led Sigyn down a few corridors and across the vast main entrance of the palace. They passed the tall marble columns that led to the main entrance of the throne room. The guards bowed to the prince and pushed the tall golden doors open for them.
He was surprised to find the room almost empty, aside from the King, who was on his throne, Henrik, who was at his side, and a lone woman with long brown hair standing at the foot of the stairs in front of the throne—a commoner, judging by her attire.
“You should have come alone.” Odin’s voice echoed sternly through the hall as Loki and Sigyn made their way to the front of the room.
“Sigyn had yet to see the throne. I did not think you would mind.” They bowed and curtsied before the King.
“This is a personal matter, my son. It is best that we speak in private.”
“Personal?” Confused, Loki looked at the woman beside him for the first time.
“Sera?!” The shock of seeing her again caused him to sway where he stood.
Her face was tear-stained, eyes puffy and red. She curtsied deeply, “Your Highness.”
“So, you do know this woman?” Odin asked.
Loki looked between his father and Sigyn. He swallowed hard before answering, “Sera is my former chambermaid. She was dismissed and removed from the palace. What is this about?”
Sigyn cleared her throat, “Loki…” She placed her hand on his arm. Her voice was low and shaky, “Loki, look at her.” She motioned to Sera with her other hand.
He looked at her face; he followed her eyes to her hands. They were cradling a small but round bump protruding from her belly.

Fulfilling a request, this is for you @acasualcrossfade
Written On Your Face
Summary: It is Christine Palmer's wedding day, a day that calls for a brave front and impeccable self-control. Unfortunately, Loki's gut-brain axis has other ideas.
The dreaded day finally came.
They steered clear of each other's way as they readied themselves in silence; Stephen's mood was so foul that morning that Loki could not even bring himself to compliment his boyfriend on how smart he looked in his black suit, with his hair slicked back and the Cloak of Levitation masquerading as a pocket square.
Loki was very good at reading facial expressions and Stephen was doing a piss-poor job of concealing his feelings.
Had he committed a grave mistake, by agreeing to come to Christine Palmer's wedding as Stephen's plus one?
He had never been one to begrudge a lover's past flames; a mortal man's lifespan was short enough as it was without spending it all with just one person.
But given the choice, who would Stephen choose?
Would you choose me? Loki asked Stephen's silhouette as he followed his silent footsteps up the church steps. Or would you choose sweet, gentle Christine?
Overthinking was a habit Loki had never been able to break despite centuries of trying. So it came as no surprise, to be betrayed by his own body in the most heinous way.
As he feared, the knots in his stomach soon turned into an actual ache, and it took all his willpower not to groan out loud. There was nothing he loved more than attention, and under normal circumstances, he would have found it irresistible not to cause a scene at his boyfriend's ex's wedding.
And from the looks of it, the ceremony was a long way from over, the pastor's homily droning dimmering in his ear.
Loki hunched around the pain, all the while pretending to look at his shoes. It earned him a cursory glance from Stephen, but thankfully nothing more.
Out of all his lovers, none was as forbearing or as tolerant of Loki’s inborn inclination for activity as Stephen. Sitting still had never been Loki’s forte, and his fidgetiness could easily be construed as a sign of boredom.
Out of the blue, a gentle voice intruded the privacy of his mind, You carry tension in your stomach, my love.

Frigga sounded just as plaintive dead as she did alive.
“No shit, Mother,” he mumbled.
“Did you say something?”
"Nothing," Loki sighed. He took a few deep breaths, but the age-old method of mindful breathing was doing nothing to ease the pain centred around his gut.
This is bad, he thought. This is really, really bad.
He could feel perspiration sticking his shirt to his back and beading on his  forehead, but casting a glamour was out of the question.
Not for the first time since they had become a couple, he cursed the fact that Stephen was a sorcerer, and a passable one at that.
No, not just a sorcerer, but a freaking doctor too! So not only would putting up a glamour give Loki away, not putting up one would undoubtedly arouse suspicion. Loki could only imagine how dreadful he looked.
Either way, he was fucked.
"Boy, you sure know how to pick them," Loki muttered to himself.
"Loki," he heard Stephen hiss, "What on earth is the matter?"
Loki exhaled noisily through his nose. "I hate weddings."
A few seconds later, "You didn't have to come," came Stephen's frosty response to Loki's half-truth.
"You're right," Loki said tightly. "I didn't."
_________
Stephen was clearly upset with him. He barely said a word to Loki since they left the church, and the way he introduced Loki to the other guests at table during the reception left something to be desired.
"This is Loki," Stephen had announced in a very neutral voice. "My partner."
That could mean a number of things, Loki thought morosely. A business partner. A study partner. An escort.
The toasts and the speeches passed in an agonisingly slow blur. As if having to sit through the awkward small talk was not a bad enough ordeal, the food turned out to be inedible, on account of the raging pit of acid that was Loki's stomach.
The tables began to empty as people rose to mingle and just when Loki thought he could finally suffer in peace, Stephen tapped him on the shoulder.
"I'm going to the bar. Do you want to come?"
Loki shook his head, but regretted his decision moments later when he saw Christine rise from the main table and head in the same direction as Stephen.
His chest seized and suddenly there was no air in the room.
He needed to get out of there, he was going to suffocate -
Loki stood up clumsily but it was yet another mistake in a day full of mistakes. Stars speckled his vision and he wobbled.
"Whoa, whoa," the person he bumped into caught his elbow. It was Stephen's old nemesis, a man by the name of Dr Nick West. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine," Loki meant to say, but he could hold his pained cry no longer; it was loud enough to alert the neighbouring tables. Chairs were pushed back, and one after another, the doctors came to his aid.
Loki found himself bombarded with a barrage of questions, each more pointless than the one before.
'Whereabouts is the pain?'
'On the scale of one to ten, how bad is it?'
'Are you non binary? Trans-male? When was your last menstrual period?'
Loki squeezed his eyes shut, but it only served to heighten the noise instead of muffling it.
'He's passing out…this is acute abdomen, I'm sure…'
'Has someone called an ambulance?'
'Let's lay him down on the floor.'
Don't touch me, Loki thought dimly.
"Let me through, let me through," he heard Stephen's voice rise above the clamour. "He's with me."
"Loki, what is it?" A hand grasped his knee. "What's wrong?"
Loki forced his eyes open. To his shame, they instantly prickled with tears of pain.
"My stomach," he whimpered. "It really hurts."
"Did you eat something bad?" Stephen frantically scanned Loki's plate. "I did make sure there was nothing you're allergic to, but there could have been some contamination - "
"No," Loki gasped. Without thinking, "It's been hurting since the church."
Stephen's face changed colour from his normal tan to a ghastly pallor, to a dark, furious red. "What?"
As if sensing the impending outroar, the bride herself pushed through the growing crowd and shielded Loki from Stephen's wrath.
"Loki," she called gently. "It's okay, you can tell us. We're all trying to help."
Loki stared at her crouching before him, a perfect vision in her perfect wedding dress, wearing such deep concern on her sweet face.
"I need to leave here," Loki choked out.
She nodded, not fazed in the slightest. "Of course. Let me take you to the hospital."
"No," Loki almost shouted in his panic. "Rest. Some rest is all I need."
The collective sound of disagreement from the gaggle of medical professionals, most of them surgeons, Loki found to be almost comical. If they only knew the real reason behind his illness, they would be more inclined to leave him alone.
"It's really nothing to worry about," he said weakly. "It's nothing new."
Loki's pasty smile was anything but convincing, but it left Christine with no choice but to oblige him.
"Stephen, why don't you take Loki upstairs and lie down?" Christine turned to look at her brand-new husband. "He can use our suite. Charlie?"
"Of course," the groom said without hesitation. He dug into his tuxedo jacket pocket to search for something. "I've got the keycard here somewhere."
"I've ruined your reception. Please don't let me ruin your wedding night as well," Loki begged.
"You have done no such thing," Christine said soothingly. "I'm just sorry you're not feeling well."
Her kindness was the last straw. He could not bring himself to hate her. He doubted if he ever did.
"I wish you all the happiness in the world," he whispered. "I truly do."
Gratitude shone in her eyes. "Thank you, Loki."
"Found it."
"No need." Stephen waved Charlie's offer away, before flashing a keycard of his own. "I've got him."
With one arm around Loki's waist, Stephen hauled his ailing boyfriend to his feet, and together they hobbled out of the ballroom and into the lobby, where someone was already holding the elevator open.
Just as the elevator doors closed, Loki folded. Strong hands caught him on the way down and Stephen's stricken face came into view. "Odinson!"
"I'm fine," he panted, "I'm fine."
"The hell you are," and Stephen gathered Loki up in his arms and scooped him off the floor.
Loki did not remember being carried down a long corridor and into a room, only that it was blessedly quiet and dark. He did not remember being laid down on the bed, only returning to his senses when he felt ice packs pressed to his abdomen.
He moaned in sheer relief, but it must have terrified Stephen to the core.
"This isn't normal," Stephen said anxiously, all semblance of calm well and truly lost. "Maybe the hospital wasn't such a bad idea."
"No hospital."
"I've never seen you this sick before."
"You're lucky," Loki slurred. "The Malady of the Maudlin, the Healers used to call it."
Stephen took in Loki's words and before long, the first glimmer of understanding dawned on him. "Shit, Loki."
He climbed into the bed and began to rub Loki's stomach. It took some coaxing, but the cramps began to cower under Stephen's gentle ministrations.
"Do you really hate weddings?" Stephen asked quietly, despite knowing the answer. Loki was so tense his abdomen was rock-hard.
"Just this one."
"You should have told me you were upset."
"I could say the same of you, Doctor."
After a moment of silence, Stephen asked in a guarded manner, "What do you mean?"
Loki's silence spoke volumes.
"Christine and I are over, Loki."
"Why, yes. She's married," Loki said acidly. "You missed your chance to speak up at the church."
"Excuse me?"
Ignoring Stephen's rising ire, Loki buried his face deeper into the pillow. "You even got us a room."
In the same hotel.
"Only because I saw how dreadful you looked," Stephen berated. "Why couldn't you have just said something?"
"When? I was invisible to you the whole day."
Stephen's nose flared. "You are such a fool."
"Clearly I am. I am in love with a man who is in love with somebody else."
"For the last time, Loki, I am not in love with anyone."
The sharp pangs returned, but Loki knew he must make his escape before he became incapacitated once more, or worse, a sobbing mess.
"That's nice to know." He tried to wriggle out of Stephen's embrace, but Stephen was one step ahead, having tightened his hold around Loki to keep him in place.
"I am not finished," Stephen growled. "I am not in love with anyone…but you."
Tears trailed slowly down Loki's temple, disappearing into the pillow. "I don't believe you."
"Why not?"
"You were filled with such dread about this day that it gave you nightmares, Stephen," Loki said tiredly. "And I'm guessing you only brought me along to stop you from doing something gallant but incredibly stupid."
"Like confessing my love to my ex on her wedding day?"
"Yes, that."
Stephen glared at the back of Loki's head. "You really, really need to stay off Reddit, you know that?"
"I'm not the asshole here."
Stephen finally heaved a sigh. "No, you're not. I am."
Loki froze.
"I'm sorry, Loki."
"For what?"
"For having my head so far up my ass that I didn't see what I was doing to you."
Stephen buried his face in Loki's hair and mumbled, "And you're wrong, you know."
Loki waited.
"My dreams, they weren't - " he could sense Stephen's hesitation. "They had nothing to do with Christine."
"You don't have to tell me," Loki said. "Not if you don't want to."
"I can't keep this to myself anymore. I feel like I'm going crazy."
Loki momentarily forgot about his stomachache and twisted his head around. The fear in Stephen's eyes was something Loki had never seen the likes of before.
"What's wrong?"
Stephen's throat bobbed erratically as he struggled to put the fear into words, and Loki's heart began to pound.
"Stephen, what is it?"
"Have you ever dreamed of seeing yourself falling to your death?"

Chapter One | Masterlist | Chapter Three |
Tumblr media
Days passed and slowly, Loki was settling into his place on the Hliðskjálf in Odin’s place. He had talked with the dwarves of Nidavellir and, though begrudgingly, they had agreed to assist Asgard in a war against Jötunheim if it came to that.
On a peaceful Friday morning, Loki was sitting on his balcony overlooking all of Asgard and when he looked down over the railing, he saw that many houses and grand buildings no longer held Odin’s sigil, they held his. The symbol of Loki. A farce. He was not an Odinson, not a legitimate King but they didn’t know that. They only knew him as Loki Odinson and that is how it shall stay until Thor returns and Loki can step down from the throne.
Joining him at his side, you looked over the golden city with a happy smile on your face. You held Loki’s hand and rested your head on his shoulder. “We have news from Lady Eir,” you whispered, frowning when Loki tensed up with anticipation, “Odin seems to be slipping into a normal Odinsleep now. He should still remain asleep for at least a decade, but Frigga has every faith that you can hold the fort until the King does wake up.”
“And what of Thor?” Loki asked, “has Serenity spoken to you about anything different with my brother?”
“He’s…managing.” you replied and Loki scowled, knowing how Thor could possibly be reacting to becoming a simple mortal now, “he has made a few allies, Erik Selvig, Darcy Lewis and Doctor Jane Foster. He seems to be taking a liking to the doctor, but she does not appreciate how ill-mannered he is.”
Loki snorted and looked to the blue of the sky with a smirk, “no, Thor has never been one for politeness on Midgard. When we went down in the 18th Century, we barely made it out alive.”
“That is the problem with Thor, he doesn’t learn other world’s customs. He only assumes they are the same as Asgard’s and is really cocky when he is corrected, that is probably why Odin sent him down there, to teach him manners.” As you were speaking, Loki observed his soulmate’s face and grinned, he had never been agreed with before. You were the first one in millennia that saw him for him and that also agreed with how he saw Thor, it was overwhelming sometimes.
Loki led you down to the private gardens reserved only for Queen Frigga and Loki; it had not been used in ages since Queen Frigga had been planning Thor’s coronation and then had been by Odin’s side after he fell into the Odinsleep. Sitting down in the long grass, Loki admired his soulmate and how beautiful you had become over the last century. You had grown into yourself, had become more powerful and much more knowledgeable about the world around you. You were a bright girl and challenged Loki in everything he knew from magic to simple tasks such as riding a horse.
As you sat down, Loki helped you by gently holding your hand and smiling at you and when you were comfortable, he conjured up a picnic blanket and basket, snorting when you slapped him on the arm, “you couldn’t have conjured that blanket up before?!”
With a shrug, Loki opened the picnic basket and started to eat a sandwich while watching you, “I wanted a reaction and I got it.” He finished his sandwich and barely swallowed it when you growled and pushed him down onto the blanket, holding his tunic in your hand.
“You really are a trickster, my King, why do I trust you so?” you whispered and Loki chuckled before leaning up and his hand found your cheek.
“Because you are mine as I am yours, I’d never lie to you, sweet girl,” Loki mumbled, staring deep into your eyes and he noted with a fond look that they seemed to glow with love and pride when he announced his love to you.
You hummed and quickly leaned down, kissing him deeply, feeling him groan and kiss back as you grinned into the kiss, cupping his cheek and pushing yourself against him.
You gasped as he pulled back to nip at your ear, his hands tenderly brushing down your sides as he rolled his hips against yours, his soft pants blowing against your face as you took him in with a bright smile. He already looked so much better like this, so free from his duties as he kissed you and lifted your clothes from your body.
You moaned as your dress was thrown to some forgotten spot, his lips coming in contact with the softness of your breasts, kissing and suckling on your nipples, enjoying the sight of you writhing and moaning beneath him. The God bit your nipple gently, earning a desperate moan from your mouth as he smirked.
"You look so stunning, my love," he whispered, admiration clear in his tone as he stared down at your body on the picnic blanket, "the only snack I could possibly need."
You smirked and spread your legs, your arms reaching up and folding beneath your head as you displayed yourself for him, "so, explore me, my King."
"Oh, darling," he growled, pressing open-mouthed kisses to your skin with a grin on his face that set a fire roaring in your core, "I intend to."
You released a surprised cry when Loki's mouth descended on your aching cunt and you groaned as you held his slicked-back hair, your head pressing into the blanket as you moaned, your eyebrows scrunched in the perfect portrait of pleasure. Loki watched your reactions with a grin before focusing on your clit and bringing you pleasure. He flicked your clit with his tongue as two of his fingers slipped into your awaiting heat and he chuckled when you hissed and your back arched.
Your King knew his way around you, knew just how to make you cum with such grace.
Electric rose through your body and your eyes rolled as you hummed with pleasure, your fingers tightening in his hair as you rode his face through your orgasm. Smiling shyly at him, you rested against the mattress and sighed happily.
"I missed you," you whispered and Loki smiled as he pulled away from your sensitive cunt to press a kiss to your lips. You moaned at the taste of your cunt on his tongue as he kissed you and you pushed your hips against his with a whine.
Laughing, Loki knew what you wanted and he finally threw away his pants to show you his straining cock and your mouth watered at the sight. Meeting your eyes, the God raised an eyebrow with a small smile of concern, "are you sure that you want this? We could always stop, darling."
You shook your head quickly and reached up to cup his cheek, "no, Loki, I want you. I want you so bad. You ruined me for all men!"
Loki smirked at that and lined his cock up with your entrance before slowly pushing in and moaning at the feeling of your tight cunt gripping him tightly. "Oh Norns, you feel amazing," Loki whispered, his head dropping into the crook of your neck as he bottomed out and he bit into your neck as he started to thrust shallowly into you.
Keenly, you wrapped your legs around his hips and released a deep moan as you felt him sink deeper into you. Holding him close to you, you felt him start to thrust harder into you and you moaned as your fingers found his blonde curls again, "Loki! Oh, L-Loki!"
Smirking, Loki continued to make love to you and he pulled away from your neck to sit up on his knees. He pulled one of your legs up to wrap over his shoulder and you screamed with pleasure as he increased the pace of his thrusts. He wanted nothing more than to fuck you forever, no memory of the throne, no memory of his responsibility, just you and him forever combined in the dramatic throes of pleasure.
You moaned loudly, your hand rising up to cup your mouth but the God swatted it away before you could even think.
Loki leaned over you as he felt his release getting near, his brows rising as he chased his pleasure, his thrusts becoming harder and more calculated as he repeatedly struck the spot inside you that brought you to the stars and he watched as you screamed and fell apart on his cock, his orgasm hitting him only seconds later.
"Norns, pet," the God sighed, cupping your cheek and smiling at you, "I love you."
You smiled tiredly and kissed his cheek before whispering, "I love you too, Loki."
After a while, you sat back up and took out a bottle of wine, pouring it into two glasses, “it’s been matured for 10 years, the finest of Alfheim according to their Princess.”
“I wouldn’t expect anything less of Alfheim, to be fair, they always come out with the best of everything and I always find myself so impressed,” Loki hummed, leaning into the blanket as you laid your head on his chest and used your seiðr to be able to drink on a side without the wine spilling.
The two spent hours in the garden together before a guard came over to Loki and informed him of Thor’s imprisonment by S.H.I.E.L.D and Loki almost raged. How dare they lock away his brother! But then he stopped and realised that he could visit him, no one else could but him so he did. He stood in front of the Hliðskjálf and projected himself to the S.H.I.E.L.D base around Mjolnir and watched as the man left Thor alone and only then, did he become visible.
“Thor,” Loki spoke first, watching Thor’s head snap up immediately and he almost smiled at him before realising his mission.
“Loki,” Thor greeted, recognition gleaming in his eyes as he looked at his brother with slight relief, “what are you doing here? Is something happening on Asgard? Is mother alright”
“Mother is well, brother, but father is not. He has fallen into the Odinsleep and mother fears he will ne’er wake again. Lady Eir is trying her best but he has been holding this off for so long that…” Loki trailed off, knowing that Thor got the memo.
“And has mother taken his place?” Thor questioned even though he knew the answer already.
Loki sighed and walked closer to Thor, conjuring a wet cloth to wipe away the blood and grime from his elder brother’s face, “the burden of the throne has fallen on my shoulders, Thor, it was very last second and not many agree I deserve it but I am trying. I am trying to rule as father does, but Lady Sif and the Warriors do not trust.”
“That’s absurd, Loki, they are your friends, they trust you!” Thor shot back quickly, and Loki flinched, hoping Thor didn’t see but he knew that he did.
“They were never my friends, Thor, they only stayed around me because I was your brother. If you had gone away, they would’ve gone with you and not stayed with me. That’s how it’s been for millennia,” Loki replied quietly and observed his brother, finishing his task of cleaning the wounds and mud.
Thor gave pause and analysed every interaction between Loki and his friends, and he realised that they had really only tolerated him because of Thor. Thor shook his head and got on his knees before Loki and wrapped his arms around him, hiding his face in his neck and heaving out a sob, “forgive me, lillebroren min. I have been a terrible brother and I could never atone for it! For what it’s worth… you’d be a great King, Loki, better than me by far.”
“Do not say such things, Thor, you are to be crowned and not me. You prepared all your life and I only learnt diplomacy through books,” Loki mumbled, still shocked from the contact of the hug and he fought back tears.
Thor chuckled sadly and shook his head, embracing Loki tighter and sniffling, “no, Loki, I never listened in my lessons with father. The only lessons I listened to were the ways to use Mjolnir and how to use the Bifrost, anything else was lost to me. You would be a much better King, Loki.”
“You cannot come home, Thor. No matter your sugar-coating, your banishment will keep the peace between Laufey and Asgard long enough for us to come to an agreement.” Loki mumbled, thinking that that is the only reason why Thor is now considering him as his little brother after three centuries of feeling detached from that connection.
“Then please forgive me for my actions, brother, you have saved me from a dark spot more than once and I have disregarded you time after time,” Thor mumbled and Loki froze, not knowing how to process his words, “please do not self-destruct when I am here. I will come home, and you will be my equal, when I am worthy.”
Loki chuckled softly and kissed his forehead before getting up and heading to the other end of the interrogation room, “I shall send General Tyr to collect you if things should go south.”
“Dear brother, I will always respect you. Sister, brother, neither, you are Loki, my sibling.”
Loki nodded and waved goodbye to his brother before he disappeared and reappeared outside beside Mjolnir, it hummed and he reached out a hand to grasp the handle so when he did so and tugged, he wasn’t surprised to find that the hammer would not be lifted by him. Of course, Odin hated him with a passion. A Jötun could never wield Mjolnir, not even the false Prince of Asgard.
Sighing, Loki reappeared in the throne room and you looked up from your book on Hliðskjálf, smiling at him before realising he was crying and you rushed over to him, “dear Prince, what happened on your visit to Thor? Did he threaten you? Must I go down to Earth and split his skull?”
Loki laughed breathily and held his soulmate close to him, running his fingers through your hair, “’twas not my brother's fault I’m crying, he just made me so very happy. He still accepts me after all these years of him wanting me to know my place. ‘twas just an adjustment, that’s all.”
You laughed softly and tenderly held his cheek, pulling his face down so you could see into his eyes, “even after all these years, you still fascinate me. With your magic, with your being, it’s incredible! You’re king and yet you took the time to visit your brother even if it meant facing Odin’s wrath!”
Loki chuckled and held his soulmate close to him as he gazed down into your eyes with such adoration that you were sure that he would drop dead before ever seeing them brimming with pain or heartbreak. You knew deep down that the person Loki seemed to be to everyone else was merely a shield so that none could see the sensitive boy underneath.
“Odin has no claim of what I do, darling, he is in Odinsleep and I am King. Not only that but I am also not his son. Lest you forget that little fact,” Loki hummed as he swayed his beloved and enjoyed the ambiance of the fire crackling in the torches around the room.
You sighed and looked up at Loki, holding his chin to bring him down so he can look at you properly rather than staring at your hair, “yes, your real father is King Laufey of Jötunheim but what of it? Jötunheim was once a contestant for beauty with Asgard. Come, I shall show you.” With that, you led Loki out of the doors to the throne room and through a quick trip with the Bifrost, guided him into your private study in your castle, “mother gave me access to all these documents after her death. All of the history is within these tombs.”
Glancing around the room, Loki was thrilled to finally have new things to learn and when he walked over to a bookcase and opened one of the seemingly new tombs, he found the language inside to be written in Ancient Moonish. His mother had taught him the language with Thor but neither of the boys had truly listened to the old language, “the tales of Yvelda and Nine. What an absurd name for a book. What is it about, my darling?”
Giggling, you stepped up and pointed to a portrait of a woman dressed in a simple gown with an emerald ring on her finger staring them down from her place above the bookshelf, “that is our great-great-grandmother Yvelda. She was Queen of the Moon while Jötunheim was still a prospering society. She wrote this book to celebrate the life of the Nine after a threat to the Yggdrasil was vanquished. She wrote about all of the Nine in a lot of detail but her chapters on Jötunheim and Asgard are by far the longest. Her studies of the two realms consumed most of her time and once our great-grandmother Serina was born, she set about making her second journal. She adapted the Moonish language into that of a language similar to Alfheim.”
Loki listened attentively and nodded his understanding before chuckling, “you have a grand history, my love.”
“It is not the reason I brought you here, the history of Jötunheim is hidden in these books as well. Laufey’s father entrusted Serina with many of their tombs to keep them safe.” you explained and for once, Loki felt admiration for a Jötun. He had not once considered such a thing but now that he saw it, he felt compelled to read every single thing in this room.
Once safely back on Asgard, Loki sighed and sat back in his chambers and thought everything over. Had he been too quick to judge Laufey and his troops? Did Laufey miss his child? Would Laufey want him back when he realised who he was? Would Laufey call out treachery and have Loki executed for betraying Jötnar customs? Loki was terrified. Why couldn’t things be simple?
Another few days passed and after a rather trying talk with Lady Sif and the Warriors Three about rescuing Thor, Loki slumped down onto her bed and cuddled up to her lover. She was fed up with all this trouble, she didn’t want to be King anymore. It took too much time away from you and your perfection, your love, how could Loki live without it?
She knew that the Warriors intended to betray her and honestly? She expected it. She just didn’t know if they would try to twist the truth so Thor would be on their side and not Loki’s. After her talk with Thor, Loki felt much more accepted and loved than she had felt since he became self-aware many centuries ago. She had once had a time where she was presenting as a female and Odin had cut off her long hair and burned it in her fireplace to keep her aware that she was always meant to be Loki prince of Asgard. Never Princess. Always Prince. Thor had accepted her, even then, changing his pronouns constantly by even looking at Loki for even a brief moment.
Thor’s banishment had changed a lot for the young princess, now that she thought of it. She had instantly taken his place as first in line for the throne and perhaps twenty minutes later, she found out that she was Jötun and after that, Odin had sunken into the deepest Odinsleep so now she was King. Queen Loki Odindottir. It sounded perfect, a name she had always told herself would happen one day. Either for her on Asgard or side by side with her beloved on the Moon. Still, one day she believed herself worthy to sit on a throne. Now, Princess Loki Laufeydottir? Out of the question. She would not accept such a horrendous name. She was not Jötnar, she was Aesir and she would be Queen. She had to be.
“I said this once before, Loki, do not let those thoughts consume you,” Loki flinched in surprise and when she turned, she saw you standing at the foot of the bed with a frown on your face, “your thoughts are dangerous when left to fester.”
Loki chuckled and rested her head on her arms, gazing up at her beloved from the angle on the bed, “hello to you too, beloved.”
You sighed and sat on the bed beside Loki, taking one of her hands and kissing the black nails there, “tell me what you think so deeply of, my love, share your pain with me.”
And so, Loki spoke. She spoke of her troubles, her fears, her insecurities and expressed her concern for Thor on Midgard. She told you everything that had happened on Jötunheim with such detail, you might as well have been there.
The night consisted of tears, hugs and many reassuring hugs between the both of them as they reconnected after so long of Loki filling herself with her hatred and remorse. She did not know why she had bottled this all up, but you were there for her anyway. You did not mind.
That night, Loki guided you into the bedroom and laid you down on the blankets, watching as your eyes flooded with love and understanding. You smiled as Loki cradled your cheek and pressed a gentle kiss to your lips, her body pressing against your own as you both sighed happily at the contact.
"Let me show you just how well I can pleasure you," Loki whispered, nipping at your ear and pulling away with a satisfied smirk.
You nodded eagerly and in the next moment, her deft fingers slid into your awaiting heat and curled just right to hit that good spot inside you that her cock constantly found. You swore and rolled your head back in bliss, unable to fight against the demands of your body.
Loki mouthed at your nipple as her thumb connected to your clit and began circling it in calculated motions that brought you the utmost pleasure. As the Queen of Asgard continued to smother you, you felt as if you were floating, your legs wrapped around her hourglass waist and your eyes bravely attempting to keep contact with her own beautiful emerald eyes.
You reached forward and cupped Loki's breast, squeezing gently and smiling as she gasped. The woman had long since ceased producing milk after the loss of her son but you remembered the days when you would sit, fascinated by the art of breastfeeding though you loathed to admit it.
The electric pulse that shot through you took you by surprise and you stared at your Queen in shock, a loud moan escaping your mouth as you rolled your head back. "Loki," you sighed peacefully, rolling your hips so that her fingers would cause more friction inside you, "let me cum."
Loki hummed and leaned down to kiss you, the pace of her thrusting fingers increasing and her magic providing you with another electric pulse, bringing you closer to your orgasm. "Let me see you cum," she commanded, her lips ghosting against the skin of your cheek, "I need to see you fall apart for your Queen."
You moaned loudly as your orgasm hit. You swore to the Norns that you were ruined, that Loki could never be replaced. You never wanted anyone else but Loki, your sweet, handsome, protective Loki!
Panting heavily, you pulled Loki down into a gentle kiss and whined as her fingers pulled out of you. Loki shushed you gently, turning you onto your side and cuddling you as she whispered sweet nothings to you until the Realm of sleep took you back.
In the afternoon of the next day, Loki stood on the balcony and watched as the Bifrost was opened despite his clear demand to Heimdall and he turned on his heel and stormed down to the vaults, Gungnir tight in his grasp, his cloak billowing out behind him and he nodded at all those who stopped to bow and show appreciation. He was a force to be reckoned with when he was angry. Many knew that.
Walking down the hall of the vault, Loki forced himself not to think of the horror that had occurred here between Odin and himself. He stood before the pedestal that once held the Casket and banged Gungnir on the floor. The sound echoed around the room and then, the barrier at the back opened up to reveal the Destroyer. When the monster stood forward, he glared up at it and smirked, “see to it that the Warriors Four do not make it back. Do not harm Prince Thor.”
With a nod, the Destroyer disappeared, Loki felt weak. Although he had given the direct order, he was petrified that the destroyer would in some way harm Thor while doing its duty.
Loki now shook his head and walked away from the chamber, heading up to the meeting floor. Marching inside, the participants instantly shut up and turned to face their King. Sitting at the head of the table, Loki allowed to give off an air of relaxation to keep peace between his council.
“How does Jötunheim fare?” Loki asked after moments of silence, irritation clear in his voice. He worried about Laufey, he was a calculating man, he might figure out his secret and then he would have no leverage.
“They are… how do you say? Calculating?” Vor replied and Loki nodded, pressing on the God of Wisdom. “My King, they seem to be arranging for the return of a lost Prince. They talk of Loptr, their infant heir that was supposed to die. Laufey is very stressed as he plans.”
Loki nodded in understanding and looked over to General Tyr with a raised eyebrow, “how fares the army?”
Tyr looked over to Loki and placed his hand over his heart as he gazed down at the table beneath Loki’s painted fingers, “The armies are ready on your command, my King, should Laufey invade or make an attempt on your life, the Einherjar will be there to save you.”
Loki nodded and then turned to Lord Magni, God of Strength and for him, he produced a golden sword and held it out. Lord Magni took the blade effortlessly and looked at Loki in confusion and the young King only spoke, “you shall need it, leading the charge.”
“And what of Prince Thor, King Loki?” A voice from down the table and when heads turned, Loki gazed down at Serenity. Her hair was pulled back into braids that broke away into a high ponytail, her dress was a simple gold with white stars expertly placed around the gown. She looked like the picture of a Goddess.
“Goddess of Earth. We are glad that you visit our table this day,” Loki greeted and stood to bow to his friend. He had known Serenity as long as he had known you and he was glad to call her a friend. Again, he met her eyes and smiled, “Prince Thor is in your care still, my lady, he shall not be allowed back until the terms of his banishment have been met.”
Serenity nodded and out of her hands came an illusion of Thor with two women and an older-looking fellow, “the Prince has made friends, he settles quite quickly into Midgardian life. He is in pain, though, and he wishes to be home. He has not been away from you this long before, my King. He suffers.”
Loki nodded in understanding and held back his tears as he looked at the illusion before wafting it away and looking at Serenity, “you are Queen and protector of Midgard and those that live there. I know you shall protect my brother for King Odin’s sake and his own. Please, he is still my brother.”
Serenity nodded and lent back in her seat, satisfied. Loki sighed in relief and returned to the meeting.
Hours later, the meeting ended on notes of War and moves against Laufey and his Jötnar. Loki was about to head up to bed when a gentle hand took his shoulder and when he turned, he saw Serenity smiling up at him, “To what do I owe the pleasure of this, my Queen?”
“I wish to walk with the King of Asgard for a while, ‘tis all.” Serenity smiled and Loki nodded, offering her his arm before walking down the golden halls with her. They passed a portrait of Loki with her and you and when Serenity stopped, Loki did too. “Do you remember this?”
“I do,” Loki replied, looking up at your happy smile and he found himself smiling back, “it was the day that I came back from one of my trips to Vanaheim. Y/N had missed me so much and she demanded she had a memorial of me when I disappeared. We had this done in her honour. My dear girl.”
Serenity watched Loki with a careful glare, her brow raised curiously before she pointed a dagger at his throat and she smirked when Loki didn’t even gulp, “you hurt her and I kill you, Odinson. There won’t be a realm outside or on the Yggdrasil that you can hide. She is my everything. Hurt her and I kill you, I promise.”
“Please do. If I betray her, you may kill me.” Loki smiled at Serenity and shook his head fondly before kissing her forehead and stepping away from the dagger, "god natt, lillesøster.”
Serenity watched him walk away and sighed deeply, she saw the tensions in his eyes just as you did. She saw just how much pain he was in even when trying to joke it off. She loved Loki as a brother, saw him go through the same things as you did. She protected his son for him, even though he had no idea. She would do it again and again. You were happy with him and Serenity wanted that happiness to last so she would keep protecting them. She just needed to make sure Odin didn’t interrupt this time.
That night was difficult for Loki; plagued with nightmares and knowing she couldn’t sleep any longer, she got up and changed into a nightdress, heading into her private library just down the corridor. When she walked in, she saw Frigga sat there with a book in her hand and Loki froze in place for a moment before speaking up, “mother?”
“My daughter, you came.” Frigga mumbled, holding her hand out for Loki to take and when he did, she pulled her down into a hug and cherished this moment with her.
“Mother, why are you here so late at night? Why are you away from Odin?” Loki asked, sitting beside her mother and frowning.
Frigga heaved a sigh and held Loki’s hand tight in her grip, “I think you should visit Jötunheim.”
Silence. Ringing silence. No one said anything for a long while. Loki stared at Frigga in surprise before schooling her features and glaring. “Why?”
“Because you are Laufey’s child…” Frigga mumbled and her thumb stroked over Loki’s silky hands gently, “because I know that deep down, Laufey misses his first born so much. You know it too.”
“I am King, mother. I cannot simply just up and leave to Jötunheim at full haste.” Loki snapped and Frigga nodded with understanding before Loki sighed, “when father wakes and is ready to take Hliðskjálf back, I shall take Y/N and we shall venture into Jötunheim.”
Frigga nodded again and pulled Loki into a tight hug, kissing her hair and running her nails through the long ebony locks, “you’ve grown from this, Loki. You’re no longer the shadow. When people talk of you, they will talk of how you saved Asgard from war and how you helped many.”
Loki laughed blankly and shook her head, “I helped no one, mother. Why would a Jotun help anyone?”
Frigga shushed her and laid down in the sofa with Loki on top of her, stroking her hands down her back, “You are our son, Loki, you helped me live. Odin too. You saved Thor so many times. You aren’t the villain you say you are.”
The comfort that Loki felt in those words only lasted a few hours for when he was sat atop Hliðskjálf early that morning, he connected with the Destroyer long enough to see a fight commence between the Warriors and it. Loki panicked and looked around for Thor but found that he wasn’t around and so he assisted the Destroyer in trying to take down the Warriors but in the process, he sent cars flying and indirectly revealed Thor’s hiding place.
“LOKI!” called a voice from Midgard that Loki heard through the Destroyer, “Brother I know you can hear this. I do not know what I did to wrong you after our talk, but this has to stop. You must let us all come home. I’m truly sorry for what happened.”
Loki listened to his brother and turned to walk the Destroyer away but in doing so, unwillingly gave up control and the Destroyer stopped and turned back, hitting Thor across the little town and the throne room rattled at Loki’s scream of horror when he saw Thor collide with the ground.
Loki turned again, dragging his feet to sit upon Hliðskjálf. He’d hit Thor. Sent him flying. He was surely dead. He ordered the Destroyer to come back and that’s when it happened. Through the Destroyer, he felt rumbling and then a lightning flash. Thor was alive. He was restored. Loki cried with joy and cut the connection with the destroyer to walk down to Odin’s rooms.
Arriving there, Loki held his mother and smiled into her neck, “Thor is coming home, mother! He’s home!”
As Loki and Frigga expressed their relief, they laughed and thanked the Gods for saving Thor. For getting him back. It was a miracle.
Loki heard the doors to the chambers open and he turned to greet his brother but all he saw in the blue eyes were hatred and confusion. Did Thor think he did that purposefully?
“Loki tell mother. Tell mother how you tried to kill me just now.” Thor growled and Loki’s heart sank.
He was alone in his mind now; Thor didn’t trust him. Who would?  Dark King, after all.

Jane triumphed over mortality, a rant
I just saw these YouTube videos about "who else is in Valhalla" or whatever, because they died in battle. (And see my Frigga post where I do think more characters than we see turn to Valhalla dust can be in Valhalla, but that's not the point of this rant.)
But it is not JUST that Jane died in battle that allows her to go to Valhalla. Heimdall welcomes her to the afterlife of the gods, specifically.
Earlier in the film, the sun god Rapu had told Gorr that there wasn't an eternal reward for mortal worms. His life and that of his daughter were, essentially, meaningless.
And Gorr explicitly identifies with Jane. He says she is like him. A mortal. She's dying and it will be a meaningless death and the gods won't do anything.
But. Jane.
Jane goes into battle knowing she will die. She meets all the requirements of Valhalla that Thor&Sif laid out, yes. A lot of characters have done that.
Jane goes further. She saves Thor. She saves Axel. She saves the children. She pulls the Necrosword into Mjolnir, a metaphor for the cancer in her own body. It's because her form is mortal that she can destroy that corruption.
Jane doesn't just lift or use Mjolnir like Cap and Vision have. She is linked to it. It's broken and so is she. (Here I actually wish Thor enchanting Mjolnir wasn't part of the movie and the link formed between weapon and human was something she did herself.) She, as she eloquently states, is Mighty Thor and Doctor Jane Foster. Mortal and god.
By becoming a Thor, she can go to Valhalla with the gods. (Again, unsure if Valhalla is only gods or if there is a roped off VIP gods section.) Jane is with Heimdall because they are equal. And I have seen people complain it wasn't Odin or Loki or some other character. It's Heimdall for a reason. Not just because his son was involved. But because he is the "whitest" god. Basically the best god there is.
That's the level Jane has achieved.
Pretty good for a gal Odin thought didn't belong in Asgard in Thor the Dark World, right?
