Who would you fancast for a POTC musical?
I've answered this before but I will update my fancasts with few new fancasts
Jack Sparrow - Jeff Blim and Jon Jon Briones you suggested
Barbossa - Dylan Saunders and Jon Jon Briones
Salazar - I'm thinking any actor who played Javert, Valjean, or the Phantom but it's hard to thinking to fancast
Carina - Eva Noblezada, Christy Altomare, Isa Briones, and Hailey Kilgore
Henry - Nicholas Barausch and Jordan Fisher
Margaret - Ashley Park, Phillipa Soo, Lucy St. Louis and Ali Ewoldt
Angelica - Karen Olivo
Elizabeth - Ciara Renee
Will- Johnathan Bailey
Morgana the Tyrant Sea Witch (my fan character for the concept)- Talia Suskaurer and any Elphaba actresses will play her

"Some people said they want DMTNT reboot to fix and improvements that the movie needs. I think the best conclusion of fixing DMTNT movie is a musical adaptation. Because musical adaptations can fix anything. Like adding character depths and improving the story. See examples of Anastasia and Frozen musicals does fixes and improvement that the og movie needs."

For the DMTNT remake thing you talk about, I made a fan concept of DMTNT revised as a musical. Because this movie deserve a big improvement and fixes as other musical adaptations do. I made a random Google presentation for more details about my fan concept link
I've actually seen that post and adore it!
Not entirely sure how well it would compute, just because you need hella talent and I could potentially see it not fitting in with the other movies well. (If he wanted to, Lin Manuel Miranda could be a good option, as he's really talented and knows how to work in good themes), but if you have a good person, I do think it could be interesting that way.
And if people don't like it/it goes badly due to whatever reason, it would be a lot easier to consider it more of a parody/non-canon.
Parodies, when done well, can also be entertaining and enjoyable, so as long as you don't completely fuck up, I see it being anywhere from genuinely good to at least fun to watch

Hello foolish mortals!
Apologies for me being on POTC brainrot and I made a blog @potc-musical where I drop my fan concepts of OST and DMTNT as musical adaptations because I think these two deserve a better improvement and fixes on stage
For anyone who loves potc and musicals, you can definitely check it out

HENRY TURNER + VOICE
ACCENT: “country” / “backwoods” / “sailor” / “upper class” / “city slicker” / foreign speaker / refined
ELOQUENCE: educated / self-taught / uneducated / doesn’t use conjunctions / shortens words / omits entire words on occasion / mixes up words / just makes up their own words / archaic english / dependent on mood or setting / doesn’t use contractions
TONE: loud / soft / room volume / high pitched / low pitched / seductive / velvety / speech impediment / abrasive / gruff / shrill / booming / matter-of-fact / toneless / husky / gravelly / breathy / nasal / barking / chatty / condescending / musical / suave / world-weary / brash / authoritative
HABITS: refers to self in third person / incorporates different languages/terms/sayings / uses gender-specific terms / adapts to audience / changes pitch around animals or children / shifts tone when lying / gives others nicknames / uses terms of respect towards others
OTHER BITS: So he’s a wild thing but Elizabeth -the person primarily responsible for teaching him to speak- has that refined, schooled manner of speak, and so while he’s had other influence as well, that’s his primary model and it shows. He doesn’t necessarily seem like an educated type until he starts talking.
This is...almost more of a personality observation but it applies to how he speaks too: 9 times out of 10 he in will in fact ask -likely even with a please- someone for something/appeal to their common sense before he decides to take matters into his own hands. It’s always worth a shot.
I italicized musical but I think a better word for it is rhythmic- he (in canon but maybe I also exaggerate it) tends to pick words that have a real cadence to them. I won’t claim it was intent on the original team’s behalf but to me it has the sound of someone who reads a lot, just the way he leads through his thoughts and weights his sentences. The way he lends emphasis or skips over them. He sounds like a storyteller.
His comfortable tone of voice seem middling to low and relatively even, but noticeably pitches up when he is frustrated (“-and you do nothing!”) or otherwise raising the volume of his voice. He is though, more often than not, soft spoken. Not quiet, not shy, just... soft. Gentle voiced. Lots of patient and/or thoughtful pausing. Holding conversation with people, not talking at them.
VOICE CLAIM REFERENCE: It’s just (bthwaites in the movie) because I love him and the character voice is distinct and there’s no reason for it not to be. The movie plays ...a little into older speech patterns, but doesn’t lean all the way into it. (And never has, but it’s definitely more relaxed in DMTNT than the trilogy and even OST.) He does use contractions that he probably shouldn’t, but also there’s a structure and method that are out of modern use. I... I think maybe I’ve let some his sarcastic humor and quick kickback from (this movie) sneak in there, too.

In the depths she is sleeping
And the darkness creeping
Who shall remember, weeping?
Bound in chain forever
From shadows concealing
Shines truth now revealing
Who shall begin the healing?
Wounded for forever
Her heart now is taken
By the lost and forsaken
Who never shall awaken?
Dreaming all forever
A song filled with grieving
Through the wild waves weaving
Who shall now not be leaving?
Sealed away forever
- Heart’s Desire/Ship of Freedom from Sea of Thieves, Chapter 2: The Sunken Pearl
(Context: Whilst two other sorrowful tales are potentially weaved into this song, the focus is the setting of A Pirate’s Life. The Black Pearl has been destroyed by Davy Jones and Jack Sparrow drowned in the magical realm of the Sea of Thieves. He, the heart of the Pearl, is imprisoned by the Ferryman there in order to protect the realm from Jones, and the Pearl is kept bound in chains at the bottom of the ocean, guarded by the Siren Queen.]
[Add: If you ever wanted any excuse to play this game, I adore it. The PotC content is amazing. The story is set after DMTNT - Jack looking surprisingly younger :U - and it’s an absolute love letter to the franchise. It weaves music from the films into the soundtrack, which is slapping and gorgeous, full of references and throwbacks and unexpected cameos, fantastic gameplay and a fabulous return of Davy Jones. 11/10 will probably make canon for my Jack’s history.]

okay so have some thoughts on the sea of thieves potc dlc under the cut now i’m done! obviously spoilers incoming for anyone who wants to play/experience these for themselves
tall tale #1: pure, unadulterated fun. the first one is definitely the most straightforward adventure with this really trippy section at the start with potc ride queue music and ambient rushing water sounds that make you feel like you’re about to get on the ride and smell the water. we spent most of our time yelling at the talking skull to shut up and then realising that we actually needed him for a lot of the side content lmao.
tall tale #2: if you can get through the entire thing undisturbed by other players being assholes and glitches, this one is reaaaallly cool. we had to abandon our group attempt because of the former and i went back to resume it alone later on. the reveal of the black pearl chained to the ocean floor is just. chills. and anamaaaarriiiaaaa. of all the characters to appear in this, i was not expecting her.
tall tale #3: hands down my favourite purely for the number of film and ride references, like they really threw the whole lot into this one and i recommend everyone interested just go and watch a playthrough on youtube because it is SO fun. jack really said i’m dead again and this time i want to stay dead and i’m gonna make the player go through a dreamscape of moments from my past (i.e. moments from the trilogy and a bonus sequence from the original ride which was my absolute faaave) in order to catch me and tell me to get back to the land of the living and help fix the mess i created. also barbossa gets a cameo, which is fun, and gibbs writes a book on jack sparrow which??? thank you rare for confirming my headcanon lmao.
tall tale #4: flying dutchman flying dutchman. and the score??? like the score is consistently incredible throughout, but it really shines in this one due to the different variations of the davy jones theme they use. also this one made my jack/calypso shipper heart very happy, i’m just saying. plus jack is the most interactive by backseat sailing in this one (rather than being peripheral/having to spend the entire adventure chasing him down lmao) and helps out during combat. making davy jones straight up evil (even though it’s loosely explained by the fact that this is davy jones after the dmtnt end credits scene) is kinda meh but. it’s generic fare for potc tie-ins
tall tale #5: jack saved my life far too many times in this tall tale, i hate to owe him such a debt lmaoo. this one was the grand finale and it was definitely Stressful. but the cutler beckett cameo was very, very appreciated because he is so often forgotten about in wider universe stuff. i feel like i have to go back and watch someone play it again to truly understand what beckett was doing there because i feel like there was a Grand Scheme there that flew completely over my head due to the Stress of doing this one on my own?? but that was definitely a Thing. davy jones becomes marginally less Straight Up Evil but that’s still kinda meh. also there are journals on the black pearl at the very end which are very enlightening as to how this connects to a post-dmtnt jack and i actually find them pretty interesting to consider in my post-dmtnt verse. also we still never found out who this mysterious female person is that jack made a promise to and i think this mystery will haunt me for the rest of my days. obviously i know who i want it to be, but who i want it to be is definitely not who it is lmao.

Fic Asks! A [An Idyll in Gunpowder], D [La Viuda Marina], O?
A: How did you come up with the title to An Idyll in Gunpowder ?
Good ask, @jamesknoxpolka! I’d been playing around with slightly whimsical combinations of art and warfare, for a Lizzie/Simcoe reference, and there’s plenty of ‘A Pastoral Idyll’ style titles for 18th century paintings. I liked the idea of combining the charming countryside with something unpredictable, volatile, and likely to explode at any second (SIMCOE symbolism, looking at you there!)
D: Is there a song or a playlist to associate with La Viuda Marina?
Up until recently, I just used to stick the DMTNT soundtrack on and merrily listen to “El Matador del Mar” on repeat. But er, then I listened to James Arthur’s ‘From the Grave’ and found it rather sweet, in a Hozier ‘let’s decompose together, my love’ sort of way. (I do love that that is a theme in music these days)
O: Already answered this one for @intricatecaprice.!

Just watched DMTNT and the first half had me screaming in delight every time the music picked up (it’s been so LONG) but the other half was just... what I am watching... what is this inconsistent lore... what is jack DOING
hgfjhgfgjdfg this truly is the mood isn’t like @ dmtnt screenwriters you KNOW you’re allowed to make more drafts right?? You are aware of that RIGHT????? Like not to derail this completely but it would definitely have been possible to make dmtnt a decent movie and I have a mighty need to write a rant abt it
