Alrighty, so I've recently watched the super mario bros movie. And I gotta say, it was the best movie based on a video game since sonic. I loved everything about it. The references, the animation, RAINBOW ROAD, everything!

Now, a few of yall know that when I see a film, I go over some of my favorite moments from the film and usually my thoughts on those parts. I won't be going over everything so if it seems like I'm skipping stuff, it's because I'm mainly going over my favorite scenes. So let's get right into it, shall we?

First off, the voice acting. Chris Pratt honestly did a good job playing mario. When the cast was first revealed, a lot of people were concerned that Chris Pratt was gonna mess up the role, but it actually sounds pretty decent for the film.

Mario's original voice actor for the games, Charles Martinet, does make a cameo in the film. Using his iconic Mario voice.

The entire opening scene with mario and Luigi is filled with a ton of references that I wish I could go over but don't have the time-

We get to see Mario and Luigi's family!

The video game mario is playing looks a lot like the game, kid icarus. But I'm not entirely sure. Still a nice little detail to include to classic nintendo system.

I wanna know more about the secret sewer system! Especially when you learn peach's backstory, It just raises more questions!

The mushroom kingdom looked beautiful! They really did an amazing job when it came to making it feel like the games.

Jack black as bowser is the best thing to come out of this movie. Change my mind-

Also, I love how bowser just fawns over peach. He really does care, he's just a bit...intense with his methods of showing love.

Peach just flipped mario like he weighted nothing-

The whole training sequence was funny, well-animated, and visually appealing.

Rip mario. Got chomped by a mechanical piranha plant while trying to rizz up the princess

Bowser singing was something I never knew I needed until now.

The entire sequence of them traveling to the jungle kingdom was so cool! They were (almost) all the levels from the game and I was geeking out the whole time!

CHUNKY ISN'T DEAD!-

Mario and DK's interactions with one another in the movie were hilarious. They act like siblings who constantly argue.

Okay, but Bowser practicing his proposal to Peach was adorable

Okay, so this isn't a highlight, more of something me and my sister thought was gonna happen. But I thought, during the scene where they were fighting on rainbow road, that there would be a moment where we see Chunky bite the dust (not actually of course. No death in this film, just implied death-) and that someone would yell, "Chunky's dead!"

Tell me that wouldn't have been hilarious to see-

I like how they kept bowser's wedding outfit from super mario odyssey. Wish they had done the same for peach though

(If it wasn't obvious already, bowser was my favorite character in the whole film)

TTS/RTS Analysis: Personal Conflict & Motivation (Pt. 1)

AKA Why Hector and Adira’s Sibling Rivalry Holds My Attention Better than SunPunzel v Moonsandra

I talk about Hector and Adira A LOT on this blog, and today I wanted to intellectually gush over a particular angle of storytelling that explains why I’m deeply invested in their two-episode arc instead of the season-long awkward fest between Rapunzel and Cassandra.

To start off, there’s a fantastic channel on Youtube called “Filmento” which critiques, dissects, and analyzes films, exploring what they did well and what they did horribly while imparting professional-grade lessons in filmmaking/storytelling. I recently watched one of Filmento’s ‘One V One’ videos which compared Captain America: Civil War with Batman v Superman (I’ll include a link to the video and one to Filmento’s Youtube channel at the end.) The main lesson in this particular video was that personal conflict will make a film, whereas impersonal conflict will break a film. I realized that a lot of what Filmento explained about the correct use of personal conflict in CA: Civil War is also exhibited in the arc between Hector and Adira in TTS S2.

“A Good Reason for Good Guys to Butt Heads” - Filmento

The Moonstone is what started their conflict, and it’s already a pretty personal subject for these two knights. It destroyed their kingdom, blew off their king’s arm, and killed their queen. Not to mention they each swore the same oath to guard the stone so that its power couldn’t be used against the rest of the world. Both Hector and Adira start out in conflict with the Moonstone, which is presented as a (semi?) impersonal force, and eventually their individual philosophies about fighting the Moonstone are what actually turn them against each other. Even though Hector and Adira are both fighting the same battle, the different methods in which they fight pit them against one another. In his video, Filmento breaks down personal conflict into two main manifestations (philosophical conflict and physical conflict) and explains how ramping from one to the other keeps the audience engaged.  Philosophical Conflict - Hector and Adira’s conflict is introduced in its early, philosophical stage in Raps and the Great Tree Pt.1. In the flashback at the beginning of the episode, Adira expresses a desire for the Brotherhood leave the Dark Kingdom and find the Sundrop. (Based on her wording in this scene, I’m led to believe that the Brotherhood were confined to the borders of the Dark Kingdom by royal decree as part of their oath to the Moonstone.) Hector is instantly against this idea, arguing that the Sundrop is a myth and implying that looking for it would be a fruitless waste of time. Adira continues the argument, insisting that the Sundrop does exist and that it could be powerful enough to neutralize the Moonstone. Hector responds by making the first offensive strike; he threatens to kill Adira if she sets out on a quest for the Sundrop and later returns to the DK’s borders because, at that point, he’d consider her equal to an outsider coming to abuse the Moonstone. On top of that he grabs hold of her face, presumably because he knows she dislikes being touched. (Interestingly Adira isn’t shown forcibly removing his hand like she would with other people, which makes interesting implications about their previous relationship.) Physical Conflict - The philosophical conflict from the flashback ramps up to physical conflict in the first half of the episode. Hector’s binturongs (which were designed to look more like wolverines, imo) warned him of the approaching caravan, so he left the Great Tree to attack them. In the middle of said attack, Adira joins the fight to defend the caravan and establishes herself as Hector’s adversary. On the surface level, this fight is about Adira stopping Hector from harming the Sundrop or her friends. On a deeper level, we are seeing the personal conflict of these two knights come to fruition physically. Altogether - The personal conflict between Hector and Adira reaches fever pitch in Raps and the Great Tree Pt. 2. Not only are they physically sparring one another as Hector tries to prevent Adira from re-entering the Dark Kingdom, they are also exchanging verbal barbs about their philosophies: H: “It’s sad to see the once mighty Adira waste her life on a fool’s dream!” A: “Talk about ‘wasting lives’ - you and the Brothers have spent yours hiding something no one was even looking for!” Pay close attention to how Hector defends his stance against Adira’s jab (this is the first time he actually shares his philosophy with the audience): H: “The Moonstone has the power to destroy the world. Keeping its existence secret was the king’s wish. And to do anything otherwise is treason!” Hector’s philosophy boils down to faith in and strict obedience to the word of his king. He’s experienced the devastating power of the Moonstone’s magic firsthand, and he’s seen that same magic overpower his king. But instead of rationalizing that another, equally powerful force of magic must also exist, Hector puts all of his faith in the man who wields the most political power him. Stay tuned for part 2, where we start exploring how Hector and Adira’s personal motivations and values feed into these philosophies and make them compelling characters! Also if you’re disappointed that Raps and Cass weren’t mentioned yet, just wait. I will definitely be getting into their dynamic and comparing their arc to Hector and Adira’s. IKON TV Episode One: Behind The Scenes

Right now, you’re walking to the YG dorms to relax with your boyfriend and his group as it’s been a while since you last saw him due to all their growing success and long schedules. You brought along some jajangmyeon for everyone as you’ve been craving it recently and thought the boys would be hungry from today’s concert. You reach the dorm and Jinhwan lets you in as he takes the takeout from your hand and closes the door behind you.

He puts the food on the living room table and both of you sit down on the couch when he asks you, “how’ve you been y/n-ie?"

You smile cutely as you respond with, "I've been pretty good, school’s been such a pain but I’m pushing through it. Plus I've missed my favourite boys,” I say with a cheeky smile and a shove to Jinnie's shoulder. “How are you guys? Being global sensations and all” you asked while pushing his shoulder, teasing him.

He laughs at your statement and responds with “It’s good, seeing the fans, performing, being on stage but I do enjoy moments where we can sit back and look at how far we’ve come with all our hard work.” “I get that. We should probably eat before the food gets cold.”

With that, Jinhwan went to get the boys as you went to the bathroom to wash up to eat. When you get out Yunhyeong, Chanwoo, Jiwon and Hanbin are sitting on the couch. “Noona, I can’t believe you bought us food. Thanks. You’re so sweet to us,” Chanwoo says as you sit down next to Hanbin. “You don’t have to thank me, I just want to make sure you boys aren’t starving yourselves.”

“Our little maknae is so cute,” Bobby says as he pinches Chan’s check. “Yah, stop that. I’m not a child.”

Junhoe, Jinhwan and DK enter the living room as the rest of you guys remove the plastic off the food and start eating. “Y/N-ah, did you hear we’re self-producing our own tv show,” Jiwon asks. “Really, that sounds exciting. Kinda like Going Seventeen or Run BTS.

“Exactly like that but we get to film, choose our own activities and well you get to see my face so for that reason we’re better than all those other shows out there.

“What is it called?” You asked. “IKON TV,” Jiwon replies, “We’re actually starting filming today.”

You turn to Hanbin and hit him in the shoulder gently, of course, you can't bruise your baby. “Yah, Hanbin-ah how could you not tell me you were filming today?” “I don’t see the big deal. Besides I wanted to see you,” he says as he pulls you in for a sidearm hug and kisses you on the temple. You put your head on his shoulder in response, “look at Hanbin-ie, being so cute to his girlfriend.” “Are you trying to say I’m not always cute to my girlfriend? Who wouldn’t be? Look at this cute face,” Hanbin says as he squeezes your cheeks together making your lips pout. “Knock it off Hanbin-ah,” you say as you remove his hands from your face and cutely pout at him. The boys laugh and continue eating.

The sounds of slurping and swallowing are going through the room while you all idly chat about school, new songs, fan meets, anything under the sun really. Even though you’re dating Hanbin the rest of the boys are like your brothers and if you needed anything they would be there for you and vice versa.

“Wah, that was so good. It really hit the spot,” Yunhyeong says as he sits back in, “thanks Y/N.” “No problem guys, but as I said, I just want to make sure you’re all good.”

Eventually, you all go your separate ways in the dorm and you and B.I head to his room as he closes the door and he pulls you into his lap. He sits there with his hands wrapped along your waist as he admires you deeply. “I feel like I haven’t seen you in so long,” he says quietly just enough for you to hear but not for anyone else to. “I know. I miss my talented rapper-songwriter”

“I’m serious baby, I missed you. A lot.” It makes your stomach flutter to hear him be so honest but you know it’s true. Both of you have been extremely busy; you with your last semester of university and him with ikon so, you understand that being separate at moments of your relationship is required in both of your lives. “And I missed you too,” which of course is true but you know he wants to hear you say it, you know he's just insecure as this is his first real relationship so you make sure he knows you love and care for him.

He leans in as you meet him halfway in a short and sweet kiss, and another, and another before you stop him with, “as much as I love kissing you, don’t you have to film soon?” “Yea, but that can wait. I want more time with my girl,” he tries to kiss you once more but you pull away and place your finger on his lips. “Ah, ah, go film,” with that you get off his lap and force him to stand up but being a whiny little baby he jokes by saying, “yah, so you don’t love me anymore y/n-ie.” “Stop being an idiot Hanbin-ah.” You push him slightly towards the door and he shoots you finger hearts as he walks out.

You lay back on his bed for a few minutes until you decide you want the coolness of the ground so you roll off and lay on the floor as Hanbin walks back into his room to see you on the floor. “You do know there’s a camera up there,” he says as he points at the corner of his ceiling where a go-pro films you, more importantly, you decide to lay on a cold hard floor instead of a comfy bed. “How awkward,” and even though you said that it didn’t prompt you to leave the floor.

“Yeah, a bit of an invasion of privacy but we’ll make the most of it.” He proceeds to take off his shirt which confuses you, “I didn’t know you were into that stuff.” He looks down at you puzzled by your dirty mouth especially since you were being recorded. He nudges you sightly with his food and responds with, “it’s not like that, dirty girl I’m gonna work out, but you can help me if want.”

You sit up wondering how could you help him workout but if this means seeing him shirtless longer you didn’t really mind. He positions you perpendicular to the bed and lays you back down on the floor then, he positions himself to use the bed as support to do his pushups over you. “You’re my motivation so, you’re gonna lay there and look pretty, which you always are,” he gives you that cute smile you love, “and every time I come down you give me a kiss, okay?” Surprised by his boldness especially with the cameras here you still nod at his proposal.

He does about thirty pushups and for each one he gives you a sweet and short kiss that makes you want to kiss him more. Even though the cameras are recording this it still feels like you guys are in this little world that nothing and no one can penetrate. Being so busy with your own lives, these are the moments you cherish the most so when does the last pushup you give him an extra kiss and he blushes as he turns away from the camera and moves on to the pull-up bar. You sit up and lean against his bed as you admire his back muscles thinking about how your attractive boyfriend is reeling in all types of fans with the show he’s putting on. His workout continues for the next hour but you decide to take a shower and do your skincare since you leave some of your stuff at the dorm for when you stay over.

When you come back Hanbin is now lying on the floor tired, he then complains about being sweaty and gets up to take a shower while he brings his camera as well. Eventually, you hear the shower running which made think of giving ikonics a peek they would like so, you sneak into the bathroom, grab the camera Hanbin left on the counter and started recording yourself at first. You whisper into the camera, “hey ikonics, hope you’re in for a treat.” That’s when he heard you, “what are you doing in here baby?” You make sure to cover the bottom half of the camera so it doesn’t become that type of video and reply with, “I wanna give ikonics a present.” You flip the camera and blow a kiss at the camera then, flip it back towards Hanbin.

He tries to move around which could be problematic, “don’t move! Just say I love you, ikonics,” you prompt him. He puts his arms up into a heart and repeats what you said, “love you, ikonics,” he also draws a heart in the steamy glass door which makes you laugh. You flip the camera back on you and end the recording with, “love you ikonics, hoped you enjoy that scene.” You whisper the next part so Hanbin doesn’t hear, “I’ll try and film sneaky things like that when I can.” You stop the recording and left Hanbin to finish his shower and went to lay down in his bed.

A few moments later he comes back and quickly gets dressed in boxers and sweats so, he can lay down in the bed with you. He wraps his body around you by putting his arms and legs around your torso and shoulders. He kisses you on the temple then asks you, “are you okay?” You turn to him confused why he’d asked that. “Why wouldn’t I be, are you okay?”

“Yea I just wanted to make sure you weren’t uncomfortable with all the cameras and stuff invading our space.” Look at your baby being so cute and considerate, damn you love him to bits but, you do understand why he’d ask that. If you were with someone else you wouldn’t know if they’d stay in such an invasive environment but you love Hanbin, Ikon and all their fans so you wouldn’t change your life one bit.

You squish his face and tell him, “I wouldn’t change this for anything because all of this comes with being with you and I love being with you so yea, I’m good.” You gently brush your lips against his and give him a gentle kiss. He then unwraps his body from yours to grab the television remote from the bedside table and turn on Netflix. “So Sisyphus or Men on a Mission?” Not even a second was needed to think about this simple decision which is, “Men on a Mission, obviously.” He smiles at you as he starts the show and pulls you back into his chest where you snuggle yourself into and eventually both of you fall asleep to the sounds of laughter.

Just your comment, please I want to tattoo that entire response on my forehead so people could understand some stuff fjshdhsh. I very much agree with everything you have said, like I do think the bighit deal was more so with the help of say with western connections (which again does NOT mean pledis could have done this without bighit. They clearly could but I saw a theory on a YouTube comment where someone said they focused on the core fanbase aka in Korea which is their main market and it paid off imo) from helping with buisness side of things like we do have merch to buy directly (which I have my opinion on some merch ideas like why the fudge is bighit selling us water!? Bro you thought that worked with bts doesn't mean it will with seventeen) which wasn't common in the past or being able to film concerts with ease during the pandemic. Bighit clearly acknowledges that seventeen is a monster group in their own right I mean as you said, they break records and are 2nd behind bighits own group. They are EXTEMELY big in Japan. They are their own song makers, bang pd confirmed this when pleids was first announced in a press video so the fact people brush all of their achievements and statements because why, their streaming numbers are low?

And oohh such an interesting point as well! Very much i think the current mindset of kpop fans (or at least some) is that streaming is what equals success which to some degree, yes but as you said, many ignore the casual side of listening. People that find the song due to it being viral for whatever reason, a fancam getting popular like in the cass of hani from exid or whatever reason. Dwc is a great example and I saw those comments under their recent performance of that song and it makes me proud that the boys have a song like that. That it has its own "fanbase" quote on quote with how well loved that song simply is and well known. You don't have to have fans doing crazy streaming to be considered "popular", I mean I could give more examples but I don't wanna make this too long nor cause unwanted fandrama lol. Those casual listeners are extremely important and powerful I mean brave girls is a great recent example of that I think! It very much does seem like that when looking at the views, its mainly the core fanbase which isn't bad nor should we feel bad for not having crazy numbers. They seem more organic if that makes sense? Plus I agree, we can stream and can explain how it works, clearing up confusion about it like no emojis don't take down views and yes youtube does take away views but that is due to it making sure it isn't bots only viewing the video. Explaining that streaming should be done with a chill mindset and its ok if you don't stream. But hey, maybe we're too weird of fans to think like this fjajdjajs.

But some few updates! Seventeen is back on Instagram, fully everyone is posting away. Makes me happy hehe m, a bit funny it took so long for them to comeback but am happy nonetheless. The interactions that seungkwan does makes me super soft. Seventeen are also back with doing proper promotions so yay (also pledis is S Wording people over the mingyu issue finally so bless). As for me on the personal side of things. I have OFFICIALLY finished that video game ^_^ it took me a while but I have finished it, my last goodbye was completed and am at ease so to speak? and yeah that's absolutely true, pledis focused on kr promotions/fanbase first and foremost (and then expanded to Japan and is now looking toward the US/western promos in general). which i agree was a good thing. i think some companies get too greedy with wanting a group to be ~internationally famous~ that they ignore their Korean fanbase a bit too much and I've seen groups that have failed bc of it, so I'm glad that didn't happen w SVT

and yeah in terms of merch I'm genuinely grateful as an american that for this cb at least there was a US distributor which made things super convenient but wtf is going on w hybes merch those water bottles are not it TT it just sucks to see bc it's clear that at least as far as merch goes hybe doesn't have an interest in like. doing market research to figure out what carats want. which is funny bc they don't even have to start from scratch they could literally just ask pledis?? and tbh what's sad is i don't think hybe is like. purposefully trying to sabotage SVTs merch from my limited perspective i get the feeling they treat all their groups merch like that :( but since us carats have seen in the past what kind of merch we're capable of getting it's disappointing to see such a downgrade. and like tbf pledis's merch decisions were never perfect like that time they tried to sell replicas of the SVT rings and carats were rightfully pissed bc those are something the members earned, not something to be bought. and i also don't think hybe never has or never will make good merch, I'm sure they're fully capable of it. but it just seems obvious that they've put WAY less if any effort into understanding both the market (ie carats) and seventeens brand compared to pledis so like of course most carats aren't gonna like it :/ i really hope they step up their game and do better research or bring ppl onto the team who better understand svt's brand

and yeah i very much agree with everything u said about streaming! tbh i think this mindset isn't as uncommon as you might think, I've actually met a fair number of kpop fans who are critical of streaming culture but as u know there also are a lot of ppl who are really into it and those ppl tend to have the loudest voices. and unfortunately part of streaming culture is that if you question the methods or don't participate you must be a bad fan or secretly an anti or something ridiculous like that. so ppl who aren't into streaming culture end up learning to not be too vocal about it bc of how bad the backlash can be

yes! I'm glad to see insta line (+ now dk!!) active again. i still wonder why pledis made them stop using their ind instas, like I know all the theories people have as to why but honestly none that I've seen seem to fully make sense. it will probably be one of those things where we'll just never know the full story. but i digress!! regardless of the reason I'm just glad to have them back after all this time ^^

as always I'm answering this a bit late so you may have seen already but i did get the physical album! it was a birthday gift so i only got it the other day, but according to my mom it arrived almost immediately after the album was released so as i said before, I'm very grateful for the US shop this time around ;-; as for the songs usually it's easy for me to pick one or two favorites but this time around it's genuinely a 4-way tie between heavens cloud and all the unit songs TT (i also love anyone and RTL, they're just slightly lower on the list in terms of preference if u get what i mean). i really hope some time in the future we get some kind of performance or special video or something for heavens cloud, since so many carats and the members themselves seem to really love it. i also think it's a song that brings up such beautiful imagery that it would be a shame if it never got any type of visual representation, you know? I'm also really curious to see a performance of wave, since iirc the members said the choreo is a lot more laid back/different from other perf unit choreos?? + that song also evokes such great imagery for me that like... makes feel like it needs some kind of movement so I'm just itching to see a performance. kind of like... even if i didn't know it was a perf unit song i would think it would be great to choreograph to if that makes any sense dhfkf. but yeah overall i think it's just a really solid album, as expected from summerteen ^^

So far I've heard that jeonhan and Joshua r besties and so r mingyu and minghao idk if I'm not looking at the right place but i guess I didnt think they were particularly close?? omg hello hello!! tbh all of seventeen are really close, some just tend to be closer “on camera” vs “off camera” if that makes sense??? fans tend to really hyper-analyze some relationships more than others which is why you hear about them more often but really all of seventeen are super comfortable with each other 🥺 in general though these are the pairings that are often picked out as being super close:

jeonghan and joshua: as you pointed out these two are very close!! they’re often called the “evil twins” since they often join forces to gang up on the other members a lot fdjkalf (i made a gif comp of it before) i think also in their earlier days they were often mistaken for one another

mingyu and minghao: mingyu and minghao are definitely the “artsy” duo of the group lmao they have really similar interests when it comes to art and fashion and stuff. i think they used to be called the “tom and jerry” duo because they used to bicker a LOT fajdsklfalksf but they’re definitely super close i mean just look at this post. all of seventeen’s families are close but mingyu’s family in particular seem to have adopted minghao to the point minghao will hang out with mingyu’s dad but not mingyu fdasjkldfa

mingyu and wonwoo: wonwoo is pretty often cited as mingyu’s “favorite hyung” lmao these two are also super close and they pursue their interests in film/photography together. wonwoo talked about this a lot in his monotube interview (don’t mind me subtly promoing my scan blog)

jun and wonwoo: i guess they’re not as obvious on-camera but these two are often mentioned a lot?? they’re basically “the cat line” and they often room together when they go abroad. they strike me more as a duo that share really comfortable silences with one another

jun and minghao: china line bros!! obviously since they’re both the only chinese members they’ve naturally become SUPER close since they can speak in their mother tongue with one another. they often talk a lot about how they have “opposite personalities” but it’s perfect in that they each make up for what the other lacks.

also not intending to sound like a shipper here but in line with above, mingyu x wonwoo x jun x the8 are often called the “love square”

hoshi and dk: basically the life of the party duo lmao they always seem to be on the same wavelength and bounce off each other’s impromptu jokes really well. they have this ongoing skit in particular where they act as old grandparents

seungkwan and vernon: basically the ‘98 line hahaha i don’t really have anything specific to say about them but they’re definitely really close, probably one of the more “popular” pairings that’s a little more lowkey/behind-the-scenes-feeling if you will. you can find a lot of video compilations about their friendship

hoshi and woozi: another sort of “opposites attract” pairing LMAO woozi acts like he barely tolerates hoshi most of the time but it’s clear they’re really close. hoshi seems to hang out in woozi’s studio a lot and in general i think woozi has been teaching hoshi more about making music/recording (e.g. that horanghae song)

if you want a more “fun” dynamic, also seungkwan and dino. basically they argue a LOT lmao they clearly have like actual tense moments but they come out of it stronger as a result. their bickering is really funny though and gives us stuff like this legendary rap battle

jeonghan and dk and jeonghan and hoshi. these aren’t actually like “popular dynamics” but i’m putting them here because they stand out to me bc jeonghan seems to hang out with these two in particular a lot LMAO i think they’re his favorite dongsaengs. jeonghan REALLY loves teasing dk (there’s a lot of moments but can’t think of any specifically to pick out right now unless u want me to), and for hoshi, dino was pretty adament in this last gose episode about hoshi being jeonghan’s favorite

hello yes i am here for all your seventeeny information needs and i am more than happy to talk about SHUA, MY BELOVED 😭💘

we will start with the basics! Joshua Jisoo Hong, born December 30, 1995. he’s an only child, born and raised in LA in the States before moving to Korea and starting training in 2013. he’s also part of the Vocal Unit, and part of ‘95 line with S.Coups and Jeonghan! those three are the oldest hyungs in svt, i love ‘95 line

he spoke some Korean before moving to Korea bc he’d speak it at home with his parents and also went to a Korean church (he’s also sometimes so stupidly funny about the dumbest things – i promise this is related – a few of the members were on IDOL on Quiz and the hosts asked him what the first korean word he learned in korea was and he said he knew some before coming bc he went to korean church so they asked the first word he learned there was and he without hesitation goes “AMEN” fjewioafjwae).

Jeonghan started training after Shua and said Shua was one of the first ones to talk to him and they became super close! this story always makes me ;~~~~; but once when they were trainees they were going through some really hard times and jeonghan looked at shua and said “shua, let’s quit together” and he said “jeonghan let’s quit together” back and they went to their manager and cried and talked things through and obviously didn’t end up quitting but they’ve always got each other’s backs :’)

he once SAID it was fine to call him Josh bc “everyone calls [him] Josh” but that’s a LIE LOLOL the members usually either call him Shua or Joshi! (that video also features a v cute sulky seungkwan and the host being Concerned over performance team starting their dance on the floor LOL) he also usually introduces himself as “svt’s gentleman” but he’s recently evolved that into “Gentle Sexy” jfiewaof

they call him gentleman bc he’ll talk softly and doesn’t get mad easily and “behaves with manners” but he can also be super playful and goofy and fun! he can sometimes be Jeonghan 2.0 (Chaos Master, especially when they’re together LOLLL they are chaotic besties) quick example is when he and dk were filming a video, he lost the game they were playing, and then tried to get the clip edited out by clapping and saying brand names so they'd have to do it over 😂 honestly he is so sweet though, ugh i love shua ;n;

he plays the guitar! also not 100% sure where it started but he sings “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5 ALL THE TIME, it’s a big joke among the band and fans now lol this is a cute compilation of him singing it a bunch of times, including several with guitar performances as well! and more guitar (bc i love it!!!!): this is a lovely acoustic version of Very Nice by vocal team (so bonus points you get dk too!) that shua and woozi played guitar for!

since he was raised in the US, he obviously speaks fluent english and so does vernon (the two english speakers in the group!) and in the Carnival Going Seventeen episode he thanked vernon for speaking with him in english so he didn’t forget it ;; <3 also the Carnival Going Seventeen 2020 episode is a good one to watch for the members being goofy but also really sweet to each other and also bc Joshua had to host it and was Stressed™ about it bc it was really outside of his comfort zone and difficult for him. he kept stammering and not knowing what he was doing and he got ““fired”” from being MC halfway through it HAHAHA my POOR BOY

last year he picked up a hobby of making beaded bracelets and made them for all the members and idk i think it’s the cuTEST THING??? shua, my BELOVED 😭💞

he’s one of the members who doesn’t post on weverse much, and he’s posted on his personal instagram twice since svt’s instagram ban was apparently lifted (i know nothing about that but apparently the members couldn’t/weren’t allowed?? to use their instagrams for a couple years or something, idk, anyway they’re posting again so WOOO), AND seungkwan once called him out as the member who never talked in their group chat (or even read the messages) HAHAHA 😂

and he has great taste bc he apparently plays botw (me, when shua plugs in his switch and it shows he was in the middle of playing breath of the wild: 👀👀💘💞💖💕💘)

SEVENTEEN’S Summer Talk!

HS: (in Japanese) Happy ending...it's like a movie...and... DN: Korean, switch on! (pokes HS in the shoulder) HS: Hahahaha! (changes back to Korean), it's a story about seventeen and carat's happy ending♡ MG: I especially like the sub part. The energy is overflowing, I wonder if it's been transmitted by seventeen. T8: The choreography for the sub part is simple, so it would be great if carats can follow along! WZ: Although I was worried about the pronunciation for the first original Japanese song "CALL CALL CALL", it wasn't as difficult this time. Is it a result of hard work put into studing Japanese? DK: Thanks to that, the recording ended smoothly! VN: More than half of my part was in English, it was fun ㅎ SK: Although the music video was filmed over 2 days, I think the cars lined up on the spot made the members look like adults. JN: The dog in the car was really cute. But it was sad that it couldn't be seen in the video.... SC: Another highlight, the group dance scene was scheduled for the first night of shooting. WW: However, due to the delay in shooting, it slowly got brighter and brighter...in the end, dancing in a place that is dimly lit is also a point (highlight) ㅎㅎ JH: At the shooting location, there was a theme park nearby, while we were on break, I went with Joshua to take the viking! Wishful Thinking: The Nintendo Cinematic Universe Part 1

The Nintendo Cinematic Universe. This an idea/joke/meme that has been thrown around ever since Nintendo in 2016 announced their plan to make movies based off their IP’s again. They have recently joined forces with Illumination Entertainment to create the upcoming Mario movie. Since then I've been thinking about how Nintendo could truly capitalize on this idea. With video game adaptations slightly getting better and better each year (with stuff like Castlevania, Detective Pikachu, Sonic Boom TV Show, etc.), I think this idea while somewhat far fetched could still be somewhat possible. Let’s talk about my crazy idea for a Nintendo Cinematic Universe.

The Main Idea:

Very similar to the MCU we will split up the films into phases. The theme of Phase 1 is “Recognizable”. If Nintendo is gonna jump start this universe, they need to bring out the big guns. Their most recognizable IP’s.

Super Mario Bros.

The first confirmed movie, the Super Mario Bros. Movie has become shrouded in mystery in terms of what the plot could be. Could it follow the tried and true of the mainline games? Or could it break expectations and take inspiration from the spin-offs like the RPG’s? With a tentative release date of 2022 we will have to wait. There are currently rumors that the story could be based of the Super Mario Adventures comics. With Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri producing, the film could be a potential hit. But again certain parts of this movie’s creative side are still unknown.

The Legend of Zelda

I’m pretty certain after the Mario movie is successful, a Zelda movie is around the corner. Though a Zelda movie done by the Illumination team would be well.... odd. Since Illumination isn’t currently known for fantasy storylines or anything with a serious tone, really. But Universal Pictures also owns Dreamworks. Which I think could do good for the Zelda IP. In turns of the target demo for a Zelda movie I think it could appeal towards pre-teens to teenagers compared to the Mario movie which would appeal to all ages but more specifically kids. The plot? Well the tried and true Zelda formula. Though I would like it if Zelda could have more of a prominent role like she does in Spirit Tracks and Breath Of The Wild.

Super Mario Bros. 2

Let’s say if the Zelda movie isn’t as successful as both Nintendo and Universal hoped. Well, another Mario movie! You have to follow up the first installment of the NCU. The plot? Uhhhh.... go NUTS! If I were to write this movie it focus on Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Toad going on some sort of adventure. Basically up the ante from the previous film. And when I say Super Mario Bros. 2, I mean the sequel to the first movie not the video game.

Metroid

This is the big one. People have been clamoring for a Metroid movie for decades at this point. There was one in development in the early to mid-2000s but nothing came of it. When you get down to it, Metroid’s themes and setting are ripe for a film adaptation. The plot could tackle Samus’s origin and her journey to become the galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter. Or the story could take place when Samus is already well established in her career, but we get flashbacks to her past. A Metroid film could go in many directions. And with Nintendo confirming in 2016 that these adaptations are primarily going to be animated, it wouldn’t be shackled to the potential limitations of live-action. A Metroid film in terms of demographic would primarily be aimed at a teenager to adult audience. Quite risky for an animated film of this type. Will an animated Metroid film make a profit? 

Donkey Kong Country

Ok, this would be interesting to see. Rounding out phase 1 of the NCU would be the leader of the bunch and the first member of the DK crew, Donkey Kong. Now DK as a character would be interesting to see carry a leading role in a movie. Let alone have a speaking part. But I think the misadventures of the DK crew would be fun enough to see as a standalone film. Think Puss and Boots or Hobbs and Shaw. DK and the gang going up against the Kremlins and King K. Rool would be a rip-snorting time. Plus, who wouldn’t want to hear the songs of the DKC trilogy performed by an live orchestra?

Where’s Pokemon?

This is an interesting question. Since currently Game Freak is in bed with Legendary Pictures to produce live-action Pokemon movies in the future after the success of Detective Pikachu. I highly doubt Game Freak would let two kinds western Pokemon movies run at the same time. What i’m saying is would Game Freak allow Illumination or Dreamworks to work on CG Pokemon movies when Legendary is making their own live-action movies? I honestly wouldn’t know. But hey, Sony and Marvel are completely okay with there being two types of Spider-Man universes going on at the same time. Who’s to say Game Freak/Nintendo wouldn’t do the same?

In Conclusion:

The primary goal of the first phase of the NCU is to make Nintendo a well known name in the film space very similar to what Marvel did with it’s phase 1. If phase 1 is a success, what lies in store for phase 2? Stay tuned to find out!

*This is all fun speculation and theory. A majority of what I have written here hasn’t been confirmed to happen or is going to happen. This is just fun wishful thinking.

Talviyö was recorded between September 2018 and May 2019, produced by Mikko Tegelman and SONATA ARCTICA in 'Studio57'. Additional recordings took place in various other places. "Mikko produced the album and he really managed to push us to do our best, even with the more experimental stuff. Working with an outside producer was the biggest new thing we tried this time", says Henrik "Henkka" Klingenberg. The mixing was done by Mikko Tegelman and Pasi Kauppinen and the mastering was handled by Svante Forsbäck for 'Chartmakers'. Story- THE FAMILY MAN

Towards the latter part of the Amazon Prime Video espionage series The Family Man, an Indian spy masquerading as a Pakistani soldier tells a dreaded terrorist in his custody to leave Pakistan for good and get settled in Saudi Arabia. The terrorist pleads, “Can I go to Sudan? I don’t like the climate in Saudi.” Unable to control his curiosity, the spy inquires, “Is the climate in Sudan good?” The terrorist nods in approval. Such little bursts of humor that occasionally punctuate the constantly brewing tension in the narrative elevate The Family Man above any run-of-the-mill spy thriller.

Written and directed by the filmmaker duo of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. (popularly known as Raj & DK), The Family Man offers a John le Carré-esque sneak peek into the lives of Indian intelligence officials and the dichotomy that dictates their existence. While for the whole world, including their own families, they are underpaid government employees, they actually are daredevils who put their lives at risk, day in and day out, in order to protect their country from all kinds of threats and dangers. The Family Man stars Manoj Bajpayee in the central role of a National Investigative Agency (NIA) field agent named Srikant Tiwari who is a part of a special unit setup to thwart all kinds of terror attacks on Indian soil.

In the recent times, spy thrillers have tremendously grown in popularity as far as Hindi cinema is concerned. Now, Raazi’s success has certainly revived the trend of period films revolving around espionage but we have had some very interesting period spy thrillers films in the past as well such as Ramesh Saigal’s Samadhi, Ravikant Nagaich’s Farz, Ramanand Sagar’s Ankhen, and S. S. Vasan’s Shatranj, among others. But we have been witnessing a revival of sorts in the recent years with films like Baby, Naam Shabana, and Aiyyary. And most recently we have had Romeo Akbar Walter. All these films, along with Raazi and Uri, can be seen as an offshoot of a strong nationalistic fervor that seems to have captured the youth’s imagination in the recent years. And it now seems to have rubbed off on the web as evident from the back-to-back releases of The Family Man and Bard of Blood on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, respectively.

The Family Man needs to be watched for Raj & DK’s unique ability to effortlessly handle a complicated narrative with multiple storylines. Whatever the duo lacks in terms of budget here they more than compensate it through innovative visual storytelling and sheer technical brilliance. The Family Man features some of the best chase sequences ever seen in Hindi cinema. Raj & DK perhaps even succeed in surpassing Anurag Kashyap on this front. Also, they seem to have attained a new level of technical mastery over the long take. The ten-episode series feature two breathtaking sequences shot entirely using long takes. This is really is the closest a filmmaker can get to attaining what Hitchcock referred to as pure cinema. What elevates it further is a deeply nuanced performance delivered by the inimitable Manoj Bajpayee who is ably supported by Sharib Hashmi, Priyamani, Mir Sarwar, Sunny Hinduja, Neeraj Madhav, Dalip Tahil, and the rest of the cast. It would be safe to say that spy thrillers are here to stay.
