The embroidery gifts I made for my friends this Imbolc🕯️
Each candle was made with intention based off of candle colour magick! For example; the brown candle was set with the intent to ground, calm, and bring the love of my friends pets more vividly into their life.
I also added elements that I thought suited my friends; for example poppies are my friends birth month flower.
Really happy with how these turned out being my first big embroidery project🥰
Resources for Closet Witches (Or Anyone On A Budget)!
Getting started in witchcraft can seem like a financially daunting task if you look at many pages online. However, there are lots of ways to find witchy resources all around you that doesn’t require too much extra spending! Looking to what you already have also improves the sustainability of your practice, reducing your potential carbon footprint as we all try to do better in this capitalist society.
Embrace your inner forager and let’s get started!
Use What You Already Have
Interested in knot magic or cords? Look no further than shoelaces! Taken from old or neglected pairs of shoes, shoelaces can be really useful in knot work and cord rituals. If you can’t afford to take the laces off your only pair of shoes, look to basketball shorts, sweatpants, and other kinds of joggers for waist ties.
Mason jars and glass containers from the grocery store are great for making your own spell jars or storing herbs! Make sure to properly clean and sanitize before using, but otherwise you just saved yourself about 20 - 40 bucks from the store. Speaking of the grocery store, you can keep the seeds from your produce to plant your own or dry to use in spell work.
Statues and hanging decorations can be made at home with a couple YouTube tutorials on paper mache and cardboard construction. Get creative by drying local flowers and adding them to your alter and homemade decorations, bonus points for bringing your local nature into your practice!
so ive been kinda sick this week but i made myself a cough syrup and it feels like magick so here it comes:
you need:
tinily diced onion (preferably red, white is ok too)
all of the christmas-y or asian spices, i chose cinnamon, cloves, and ginger and cumin.
a pinch of salt
honey
✨🌼🌞
🌞🌼✨
wash your hands and tools very well, you dont want sick germs in your health potion. do it with intention. mix all ingredients in a very clean container. stir clockwise with your inbreath and counterclockwise with your outbreath. put a lid on and let it sit over night. the onions will leak a lot (no pun intended haha).

to use it, first gargle the phlegm in your throat away, preferably with warm tea, then you take a spoonful if the syrup and dont swallow. keep it in your mouth as long as possible. it will help you cough it off. doesnt even taste half bad.
I performed the below spell as a method of banishing my own anger and anxieties. It is quick, simple, cathartic and effective.
YOU WILL NEED:
A glass jar or bottle
Moonsalt (preferable New Moon Salt)
Cider vinegar
Lemon juice
Paper
A black pen
A white candle
METHOD:
- Cleanse your space and centre yourself
- Fill the bottle or jar half full with vinegar.
- Swirl three times anti-clockwise.
- Add five drops of lemon juice. Add more if your rage is particularly prevalent.
- Swirl three times anti-clockwise
- Add the salt. I used about half a teaspoon.
- Hold the jar/bottle between both hands. Focus all of your anger inward. Charge it into the water. I usually tense up and go rigid during this part.
- Write down any specific sources of frustration or anxiety on the paper, and then fold it up as small as you can.
- Place the paper in the jar/bottle.
- Be as emotional as you feel you need to. This is a messy spell. Cry! Scream! Shout!
- Seal the bottle/jar with white wax.
- Leave to sit for a few minutes. Try not to touch it. I usually place it between two white candles.
- There is a LOT of negative energy in this spell. Be careful with it.
- Place the spell outside your door, ideally when the sun is down. I put a circle of salt around it, but only do this if there is no wildlife to damage.
- Cleanse your space again afterwards. I recommend lavender for peace and relaxation.
- In the morning, dispose of the s safely and completely.
I’ve recently come to love knitting as a hobby through the teaching and encouragements of a very wonderful friend of mine. It’s become such a lovely way to spend my time, in fact, that I’ve begun incorporating it into my practice as well!
Grounding
Knitting can be an excellent way to ground yourself before doing any sort of ritual or spell work. The act of creating art can be very intensive, making your mind focus on something and helping you create more specific intentions that you’ll need for your practice work.
Protection
Weaving intent into your fiber arts can be an excellent way of creating protection spells. Giving blessings to the yarn as you create shawls, scarves, etc. can be either a gift to yourself or ones you love with an additional magical bonus.
Knot Work
Creating your own cords to use in rituals, ceremonies, and knot magic can add an extra layer of power to your work. Making your materials gives a level of intimacy to your practice that not many other things can.
