Distance learning fucking sucked man…I hated it so much! I could teach in my dressing gown while smoking and I still wanted to be in the classroom.
But I’ll never forget coming back online from break, with my 3yo daughter on the webcam, leading a class of twelve grown adults, who were all enthusiastically reciting their ABCs with her.

What made you choose IGNOU? Do you self-study every material? Is it more difficult if it is an open university?
I chose distance learning because I get to study and work in my own pace. I enrolled in IGNOU instead of a state open university because I felt that a national open university course would be more credible. It was still lockdown time when I had to choose my uni so offline classes was still under debate. I have been self-studying for a long time and it's the same now. I read and annotate my novels, study the material, and make my answers which is basically character sketches, theme-based answers, etc. I am yet to give my exams but have submitted assignments.
For open university (and basically anything you try to learn), self-learning is extremely important. You will be given most of the study material which is vast and almost no guidance further. Past question papers and assignments help a lot but that's about it. It also depends on what course you choose, so what I mentioned might not be the same for it.
So distance learning can be a double-edged sword. You need to be motivated since there won't be a mentor to guide (always). Basically, you will be your own teacher and student.
I hope this answers your question. 😊😄

I really hope I’d make friends this school year, which I guess would be a little easier now since we are going back to contact teaching. Last year it was tricky but I almost managed to get a friend. Unfortunately she has now transferred to another university, closer to her home. I understand why she did that, but it still makes me a little sad ‘cause I think we could have become friends...
