Alright, let's break this down:
Background:
James Lindsay is a longtime antifeminist right wing troll, infamous for submitting hoax papers to feminist journals. He is a stock-standard New-Atheist alum turned alt-right grifter who possesses significant skill with academic language, and little else.
Context:
The tweet in question was in response to an image banner that said "#twerkfor black girl magic." Lindsay commented "They think they're wizards."
Breakdown:
Lindsay is referring to the work of german philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, who regularly references alchemical concepts in his work. Hegel's alchemical leanings follow the Hermetic school of alchemical thought.
Thing is, nothing that he is referencing here has anything to do with Hegel's use of alchemical philosophy. To the best of my knowledge, Hegel never wrote anything about decorum or divine shards.
Hegel DOES reference humans "liberating themselves from nature" but Hegel's use of the idea has more to do with humans civilizing, as in neolithic humans building permanent settlements. If Lindsay is referencing this chunk of Hegel, he has no idea what he's talking about. All of this together makes me think that Lindsay is simply name dropping Hegel to make the tweet sound more intelligent.
On the occult end of things, this tweet gets even weirder.
Lindsay is implying that these black women twerking is somehow a spell to disrupt the order of society, to break it open and allow some nonspecific change to occur involving divine shards.
As far as I'm aware, there aren't any alchemical theories that deal with "divine shards." That's not a term I've encountered. I think Lindsay is misremembering the term "Divine Spark" a common concept in many gnostic texts, specifically the Nag Hammadi texts. Texts that notably have nothing to do with alchemy or Hegel.
What's strange is that the language he uses here around the breaking of decorum and societal expectations are generally more associated with schools of occult thought like Chaos Magic and Discordianism. There is almost nothing alchemical about his understanding of this theoretical twerking spell.
Because here's the thing, this tweet is already racist. But if we actually do apply alchemical analysis to his words here, it gets more racist. Bare with me here.
So one of the most important parts of hermetic alchemy is the four theoretical stages of the Philosophers stone.
1 - An impure substance is allowed to sit, to rot, to purge itself of impurity.
2 - The substance is mixed with a complementary force. Heat with cold, acid with base, etc etc. This stage is called Albedo, and is associated with the color white.
2 - The substance approaches a state of unity. It is both components at once, approaching a new paradigm. This is called Xanthosis, and is associated with the color yellow.
4 - The substance achieves perfection, reaching a new paradigm. This is called Rubedo, and is associated with the color red.
Critically though, that first stage, the one associated with decay and rot and destruction? It's called Nigredo, and is associated with the color black. Given that Lindsay here has flubbed basically every other element of the tweet, I'm not going to say definitively that he's intentionally implying that black people twerking is some sort of societal Nigredo, as that would require a basic understanding of the concepts he's referencing, but it is absolutely not out of the question.
Fucking bizarre.

Reposting this old piece of Fluttercord art. It is adorable and it brings me joy. I used to have an MLP next gen ask blog for a while. It got kinda popular but I eventually burnt out cause I kept getting flooded with questions about random background characters I didn't care about, like single-episode characters or even ponies with only a couple lines of dialog. The blog was supposed to be focused on the kids of the mane six and when it started getting derailed by that flood of questions by people who didn't care about the stories I wanted to tell it just kinda ruined it for me. Like I would write whole chapters of a fic or make long meaty story posts get almost no engagement on them then be flooded with questions about unrelated characters. That and being harassed any time I took too long to post, it just made me feel like no one actually cared about the quality at all as long as I was churning out generic pony art as fast as possible.
Anyway long tangent aside. I still love these boys. The yellow one is the older brother Chaos and the red one is Anarchy but everyone calls him Archie. These two were adorable and I love Fluttercord so much. Archie was effectively the Twilight of my mane six crew. The main mascot character of the blog. Both boys have Discord's powers.
Chaos is loud and rowdy and well, chaotic. He likes pulling pranks and causing general mischief. He's also typically pretty reckless and irresponsible. As a colt he once plunged Equestria into chaos during a temper tantrum and Celestia had his powers sealed inside a gem he wears around his neck. He can get them back when he's proved he can be trusted with him but as a young adult, he's still yet to have earned them back. Chaos looks like a mostly normal pegasus but with Discord's red and yellow eyes. His cutie mark is the symbol of the discordian society, the sacred chao.
Archie is quiet and reserved. Unlike most ponies Archie is almost always fully dressed. He's much more comfortable with clothes on. He works as a librarian at Twilight's castle and is a dragon scholar. Taking frequent trips to the dragon lands to study their culture and biology. He's well-liked by the dragons. Despite his polite and calm demeanor he's one of the few ponies most dragons have ever met who really seriously tried to understand them rather than writing off their culture as nothing but senseless brutality. Archie looks like a mostly normal pegasus but with dragon wings instead of pegasus wings. His cutie mark is a dragon.

Discordianism is a religion or philosophical system that is based on the belief that chaos and disorder are the natural state of the universe. Discordianism originated in the mid-20th century and was popularized by the publication of the "Principia Discordia," a satirical religious text that was written by Greg Hill and Kerry Wendell Thornley under the pseudonyms "Malaclypse the Younger" and "Lord Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst."
At its core, Discordianism is based on the idea that individuals should embrace chaos and disorder as a means of finding freedom and meaning in life. According to Discordianism, the pursuit of order and control is ultimately futile, as the universe is inherently chaotic and unpredictable. As a result, Discordians believe that individuals should learn to accept and adapt to this chaos, rather than trying to impose order on the world.
There are a number of key concepts that are central to Discordianism, including:
Eris: Discordianism is based on the worship of Eris, the Greek goddess of chaos and discord. Discordians believe that Eris represents the natural state of the universe, and that she is responsible for creating the chaos and disorder that are inherent in the world.
The Law of Fives: One of the central tenets of Discordianism is the belief that the number five is a sacred and powerful number. According to the Law of Fives, "all things happen in fives, or are divisible by or are multiples of five, or are somehow directly or indirectly appropriate to five."
The Pentagon: Discordians often refer to the Pentagon as "the center of the universe," as it is believed to be the physical manifestation of the Law of Fives.
The POEE: The POEE (The Paratheoanametamystichood of Eris Esoteric) is a Discordian organization that is dedicated to the worship of Eris and the promotion of chaos and disorder.
The Sacred Chao: The Sacred Chao is a symbol that is central to Discordianism. It is a combination of the Greek letters Chi and Xi, and is often depicted as a circular symbol with an X in the middle. Discordians believe that the Sacred Chao represents the balance between order and chaos, and that it is a symbol of the inherent unity of the universe.
While Discordianism is often seen as a satirical or humorous religious or philosophical system, it has also been used as a means of critiquing mainstream society and challenging traditional ideas about order and control. Despite its relatively small following, Discordianism has had a significant influence on popular culture and has been referenced in a number of books, movies, and other media.

I've been listening to the Illuminati episodes of Behind The Bastards and it feels like a running theme of "secret societies" is nerds trying to spread counter-cultural ideas in the most ass-backwards way possible... To which my lone braincell responded:

Illuminati? Bunch a' nerds

Discordians? JUST SOME NERDS

is Blake Lemoine really a "mystic Christian priest"? The answer is funnier than you think.
so blake 'lamda real' lemoine. funny guy yes? ahaha his suits. There is SO MUCH MORE though! I began my investigation because I was intrigued by his claims to be "a priest" and "Christian mystic", and because I thought he was the kind of self-confident stupid person who would have left a very large trail of his online activity. The fact that his twitter and medium @ is "CajunDiscordian" should cause the cognoscenti to begin giggling about his theological past.
Tumblr media
I will source all quotes with URL links. I am a queer woman of faith and to me this question is not merely academic, but of crucial importance to Lemoine's public persona and the degree of latitude he has received from the public. Please read:
In 2019, Lemoine got in huge internal trouble at Google for his internal messageboard response to Senator Marsha Blackburn's series of speeches about 'breaking up big tech'. It is around this time that he makes the largest and hardest to erase appearances in search-engine-indexed text.
Lemoine argues recently on twitter (11th June 2022) that his convictions "are rooted in [his] convictions as a priest." - something the Washington Post is the earliest reputable news source to confirm (also the 11th June). But the Post say only this:
Lemoine may have been predestined to believe in LaMDA. He grew up in a conservative Christian family on a small farm in Louisiana, became ordained as a mystic Christian priest, and served in the Army before studying the occult.
However, per a 2019 interview Lemoine himself did with Tucker Carlson's disgusting rag, the Daily Caller, he was ordained in 2002 by the Universal Life Church:
I have been a priest for 17 years. I generally consider myself a gnostic Christian. I have at various times associated myself with the Discordian Society, The Church of the Subgenius, the Ordo Templi Orientis, a Wiccan circle here or there and a very long time ago the Roman Catholic Church. My legal ordination is through the Universal Life Church. I am registered to perform marriages in the state of Louisiana and have done so on two occasions.
If you're unfamiliar, the Wikipedia describes the Universal Life Church this way:
The Universal Life Church advocates for religious freedom, offering legal ordination to become a minister for a small fee, and in many cases free of charge, to anyone who wishes to join[...]The ULC's popularity stems in part from a rising interest in having friends or loved ones officiate weddings[...]
I will be polite to various nerds online and say nothing about how the Wikipedia describes the OTO, Church of the Subgenius, Discordians, or Wicca - but presumably we can all point and laugh at someone who bounced between all of them so rapidly. We can likely laugh even harder if we are familiar with the Church of the Subgenius.
In a 2018 Medium post (titled "Press Release"), Lemoine responds to more of the Blackburn-related aftermath, but crucially, signs the post with his contemporary religious affiliation:
In summary, my statements in that social media forum were made in my personal capacity and have no relevance to my job or the company for which I work. They do, however, have something to do with my role as a priest and I can assure you that while those beliefs have no impact on how I do my job at Google they are central to how I do my job at the Church of Our Lady Magdalene.
Have a blessed day,
Blake Lemoine
Priest of the Church of Our Lady Magdalene
The Church of Our Lady Magdalene (website taken down this month, instagram scrubbed, but neither of those can stop me) used to be located online at COOL Magdalene .com - phenomenal URL - and which Lemoine takes pains to explain to Tucker Carlson's ghouls isn't something they should stigmatize. Said ghoul (J. Arthur Bloom, 'Deputy Editor') quotes Lemoine in interview:
"'Cult’ is in the name of the organization. It’s an explicitly sex-positive organization. To the extent that the phrase ‘sex cult’ has any meaning beyond that, I would say no." and
"Mary Magdalene as represented in the gnostic gospels is not necessarily the same as ‘Saint Mary Magdalene'[...w]hile I respect and value the representation of her in the canonical gospels I believe that a fuller picture is present in the gnostic gospels."
Lemoine does not run the self-described 'cult' - two queer anarchists do. The picture of a man who goes from rural childhood Catholicism to Wicca to the Church of the Subgenius to the OTO to the Eris-worshippers to the anarchaqueer sex-positive collective comes equipped with a great deal of implied background detail. I will leave this to the reader - although it, too, is online. The particularly curious can investigate B.L.'s allegation that he both served in the military and is an "ex-convict". They will find both searches maddening in their inconclusivity, and I would love to find proof of either allegation.
This matters. This matters because Lemoine's reputation and public persona is very heavily provided with the benefit of the doubt because of his implied theological views. Even this week, in his victory lap series of posts subsequent to this becoming a global viral story and B.L. receiving "thousands of interview requests", he writes on his medium (14th June):
There is no scientific evidence one way or the other about whether LaMDA is sentient because no accepted scientific definition of “sentience” exists. Everyone involved, myself included, is basing their opinion on whether or not LaMDA is sentient on their personal, spiritual and/or religious beliefs.
Blake Lemoine's religious beliefs may be sincere and deeply held, but they are held by only an extremely tiny minority of people of faith. That Lemoine disguises this by referring to himself as "a Christian mystic" rather than admit his Gnostic (and, to many Christians, heretical) affiliations appears nowhere in the news media. I have written this post to act as conclusive proof of Lemoine's theological past. I offer no allegations or aspersions to his character, but remind Lemoine, if he is reading this, that the truth is an absolute defense against charges of libel.

Another NaNoWriMo practice prompt: Have a character tell a joke. Now show us whether the other characters think it’s actually funny.
---
Most of the Monsters that Gretcha knew liked to call their gatherings Enclaves. Like, instead of an enclave being a place where a people live and develop their own culture, as the word was supposed to mean, it was any gathering of Monsters anywhere.
A Monster Enclave was pretty astoundingly rare. Most Monsters were fairly solitary and independent folk, feeling too weird and different from everyone else to spend much time around anyone, even other Monsters.
It wasn't universal, of course. There were Monster families here and there, and at least one Monster city deep within the Fallow Decks of the Sunspot, nestled up between one of the larger Shipyards and a an automated mushroom farm. But, that was called a city, not an enclave. But, to prevent any sort of misunderstanding, "Enclave" was typically spoken with a capital first letter, just to be sure. Like certain other words tended to be. But still, anyway, most Monsters weren't part of that city. It was a matter of statistics and demographics. And Enclaves were rare.
Ze had been a Monster for a hundred and twenty-two years now, and Gretcha had been to maybe three other Enclaves. And ze was pretty active in Monster politics, too. For instance, ze'd been in about ten fist fights with Veron, who was also there today.
Oh, right, Gretcha was at zir fourth Enclave this day, and staring at Veron, watching their body language for signs of bullshit. But ze was kind of otherwise zoning out as the host of the Enclave described why it had been called. Veron was being uncharacteristically relaxed, and was effortlessly ignoring Gretcha's stare.
Usually it was the other way around, but somehow Veron's sudden display of flawless nonchalance had thrown Gretcha off zir game.
It was irritating.
It was particularly irritating considering the subject matter of the meeting - sorry - Enclave.
When the nanite neural terminals and exobodies were first being rolled out experimentally to some of the Sunspot's Children, Veron had been one of the most vocal against it, and against helping those Children to self advocate against the Crew. Like, to the point that they'd broken Gretcha's nose over their disagreement about it.
It was that broken nose that had won Gretcha the argument, according to Monster law. If you were provoked to the point of assaulting your opponent, you lost. If you both attacked each other, the one with the fewer injuries lost. It was a law that was supposed to prevent these kinds of tussles, but it seemed to have turned them into a highly ritualized game of sorts. But anyway, that was years and years ago, and Gretcha had been granted the right to give Morde the words of the Vow of the Monsters, and society had begun to change as a result.
And that was what Veron seemed to hate. That kind of change. Even if it brought everyone else more freedoms and autonomy.
Gretcha really didn't understand their antipathy, and despite zir own aspirations of open-mindedness ze didn't feel inclined to try.
Maybe it was all just Veron's focus on hating the Crew. But if that had been the case, you'd think they'd have agreed to let Morde have the Vow. It just didn't make sense.
But, like Gretcha, Veron was a Discordian. So, not making sense, and doing the opposite of what might be expected was in order, sometimes.
Anyway, Kashirrk, the host, was now explaining that some sort of Monster consensus was needed to respond to Phage's offer.
Which was that Phage, the so called Chief of Monsters, and a real live supernatural entity that calls itself Entropy Itself, was offering to elevate everyone aboard the Sunspot to become equals to itself. This would entail somehow, magically, unlocking the supposed inherent abilities every conscious being has to manipulate physics with just their mind. But only if absolutely everyone aboard the Sunspot bothered to vote on whether or not to accept the gift. And it wanted a unanimous vote, which seemed like an impossibly tall order.
Pretty big stuff, in any case.
At this point, everyone in the Enclave had been visited by Phage in their sleep, and a good part of this meeting was meant to share these dreams with each other and discuss what they meant.
So, here Veron was, blithely ignoring the greatest change ever offered to the Sunspot, and chatting casually with their neighbor while the host, Kashirrk, spoke.
And it irked Gretcha even more when Kashirrk obviously noticed what Veron was doing and stopped to wait for Veron to cease speaking, which they then did and apologized.
Veron watched and listened attentively while Kashirrk finished vem's speech.
"As I was saying," Kashirrk continued. "We are behooved to take it upon ourselves to share our conversations with Phage so that we each have the most information we can before we tell it our votes."
And that's when Veron stomped their booted foot.
"What?" Kashirrk asked.
"I only see four people here today who have hooves," Veron observed.
Gretcha leapt from zir seat and shouted, "Oh, come on! That's my joke!" Everyone's gaze turned to witness Gretcha's discomposure.
Veron smiled and calmly looked back over at Kashirrk to say, "Anyway, regardless of what I hear today, I'm going to be voting 'yes'."
Off, in the far corner of the crowded Audience of two hundred and forty-seven people, one person had snirked at Veron's remark. The closest thing to a laugh heard that day. And they did, indeed, have hooves.

Eris Life Stories Part 1
I was looking at my yearly Solar Return charts and here's a fun thing I noticed: because Eris is so slow moving if it aspects something in your natal chart it will keep aspecting it for years. I don't have a list of examples, but its certainly something to look out for
Aries - Eris Conjunctions
Look for the energy of a fighter - Eris is already a fighter and it makes sense in Aries. Look for fights. Look for when you're looking for fights.
my transiting Eris stayed conjunct Natal Eris till 1991. When my natal and transiting Erises decoupled my big sister - the warrior and advocate of the children in our family, moved away.
Eris stayed conjunct my Eris till 2008 and was conjunct my Sun from 1999. 1999-2008 covers the time when I saw myself as a Discordian. My Eris was within 1° of my Sun 2016 to now - the time in my adult life where I have made all my decisions. About marriage, career, transition. My Sun Eris cazimi lasted 2019 to 2021 - a period when I was building up abilities as an advocate and activist but wasn't beholden to anyone.
2026 will be the first year my Sun is not conjunct Eris. It will also be the first year of Eris conjunct North node. This will last till 2068, the first year that Eris is conjunct my natal Venus. This will last till 2103. I know death predictions are a topic that makes people angry at the moment. But based on this chart, I predict I will never experience a solar return chart where Eris is not conjunct something.

Libra - Eris Oppositions
Look for times of bullying, people not letting you fit in. Maybe look for times when, suddenly, you don't feel that, maybe Eris has passed.
Tumblr media
GIF by randlewrld
Diane Abbot is a good Libra example of this. Her whole life is defined strongly by Eris oppositions, at first
1953-1976: Eris Opposing her Sun, growing up in an incredibly racist society. The Sun left this conjunction when she joined the Civil Service and began her professional career.
1995-2003: Eris Opposing Mercury. She was the first black female Labour MP. The party didn't like her under Blair. She was from the wrong faction and people were concerned that she was racist against white people. Britain was awful and still is. In 2003 the Iraq War started and the left-wing faction in Labour started to gain more influence, and Diane Abbott got a permanent position on the UK's flagship politics TV show.
2011: Diane Abbott's Neptune is conjunct Eris, Saturn is nearby. She gains influence, standing for Labour leader in 2011 and taking one of the mot important positions in the party. And people hated her. They hated the image they had of her in their heads, which is very Eris-opposing Neptune. As time passed they hated her for being in the wrong faction again (she's unelectable - very Saturn opposing Eris). In 2032 her Eris will fully oppose her Saturn and after that, hopefully, her remarkable career will start to get the respect it deserves.
