Paya’s diary, casually left open on the corner table in the bedroom loft, holds the most curious bit of information he has come across yet (including that which led him to tame a behemoth black stallion, climb the bones of a creature that could swallow a molduga, and unearth a horned helmet of shadow and stone).  He has made a bad habit of this; learning about himself from the pages of other people’s journals, but people certainly made it a habit to write about him a century ago. 

But this is new. Not something left behind or nearly lost to time. The ink is still fresh.
