We need better queer representation in shows movies and books
We need queer POC
We need people who don't want to label their gender or sexuality
We need trans people who's transition goals aren't to look cis
We need queer people with diverse religions
We need queer people who use pronouns that don't "match" their gender
We need aromantic and asexual characters
We need disabled queer people
We need queer people who use multiple labels for themselves
We need queer people who's entire personality isn't being queer
We need queer people who aren't just there because of romance
We need real and diverse queer people in the media

disabled people: we are still dying, can you please just wear a mask to the grocery store and doctor’s offices so we can live
conservatives: no, die or stay inside all day, no one cares
leftists: no 🏳️‍🌈✨💖

something i don't see talked about much is how people treating disabled people like we are abled can actually be harmful.
i was leaving work and had my cane, i was very tired and in pain. people outside of my store advertising for the world wildlife fund tried to stop me to talk about the environment until they saw i worked there, which is nice, but you probably shouldn’t stop anyone with a mobility aid who is walking. please don’t guilt us into taking extra time to stand in a hot sun, we actually need to go sit down, or it takes us longer to get somewhere so we really don’t have the time to.
don’t infantilize me, but also acknowledge i need extra help or rest. why is that so hard?

you’re allowed to be mad about being disabled, by the way. you’re allowed to complain and feel the way that you feel and hate ableds for making you feel out of place. you’re allowed to not feel positive.

Emergency Donation
Hey everyone, I'm making this my pinned post. My roommate just gave me an ultimatum in regards to paying off the back payments of what I owe for rent. I'm looking for $1,263.21 USD by March 31.
Please help me if you can. I don't have anywhere else to go at the moment and I'm afraid of losing the only place I have to live. I'm disabled, queer, I have two cats and I've been unemployed since August. Any amount will help but if you can't donate please reblog this so it gets seen. Thank you.

Edit 3/30:
$1,056.49/1,263.21

The embarrassing parts of a disability never stop being embarrassing. The visible parts don't become invisible. Some days you will notice the stares, the looks of confusion or disgust or intrigue, and you'll look inward and feel those same thoughts returning.
It's okay. You are allowed to be upset still, you can be upset and embarrassed for the rest of your life. You'll get used to it most days, but just cuz "it's been 20 years" or "i've been like this my whole life" doesn't make how you feel suddenly invalid.
You can mourn not being able to walk or run forever. You can mourn not being able to socially connect forever. You can mourn being pain-free, medication-free, disability-free. You don't have to "get used to it" or "get over it" so harshly. You can always cry a little, it's okay.
It's okay to be disabled, and it's okay to feel like it's not. You are loved no matter what ♡♡♡

in my local queer bar someone graffitied the single occupancy disabled stall sign* to read “quadruple occupancy” and i’m so fucking done.
*grafitti on the bathroom doors is perfectly normal and encouraged at this bar. the issue is vandalizing a disabled stall with a joke about misusing it to fuck.
i pointed it out and how fucking upsetting it is to have our fucking BATHROOMS be the butt of endless jokes about drugs and sex and uncleanliness and laziness CONSTANTLY. it’s fucking insulting to have the active misuse of the only place a cripple can fucking pee be treated as a haha funny by people who don’t suffer from it and in fact often PERPETRATE that.
when i brought up that it’s way less funny when you’ve had those jokes made to you constantly when you’re just trying to piss—a right constantly denied to cripples—an abled person just went “yeah, we’ve all been in middle school!”
they didn’t respond when i said “oh, so you’ve been a middle schooler with a wheelchair?”
ableist abuse from peers was a major factor in my losing my right to education, and the rest of it was not being given basic accomodations. i’m not interested in entertaining it from grown-ass adults.
(also, given that tonight is, i shit you not, TRANS NIGHT, you’d think people would have an idea of how humiliating and shitty it is to have the only bathroom you can use mocked and misused for sex.)

conversations about ability, disability, and pain (especially chronic pain) need to become less socially “taboo” because there’s so many people who don’t realize how much pain they’re actually in. n they don’t realize because they just assume everyone has these problems, bc no one talks about it.
i think it’s important to be open about what amount, level, etc. of pain is considered “normal” bc a lot of people don’t realize until it’s too late

body positivity with disability or chronic illness is really hard
like, i don’t love my body. it’s actively working against me 100% of the time. what i do love is how i’ve grown to work around my body, how i’ve grown to understand my body. the work i’ve had to put in to learn about my own body and the unique things about it cannot be undermined.
my body is hard work, and i don’t love it, but i will work with it to live happily.

Hey friends. Good news is I got a job lined up. Bad news is I probably won't be able to get any work until April. I still need help paying my bills and rent is coming up. That and with the cold months our electric bill shot up.
I need $450 by February 29th. Please spread this if you can and donate if you're able. Thank you.
