Writing this here for posterity's sake cuz something suspicious is going on upstairs and I am flooding my sister in texts lollll

First I thought my upstairs neighbour was on a stay at home vacation because there's literally been noise every single day all day for a week, and his car has not left the lot. Usually he's gone to work 8-10 hours, leaving me in blissful silence. Wow, I thought, someone who loves staying home more than I do, not even leaving for groceries. Great, when will this be over.

BUT he's also a serial multiple-times-a-day vacuumer, which there hasn't been. Building manager confirmed he keeps things CLEAN. Hmm, vacation from that too? ODD.

A couple times I heard two sets of footsteps, ok he has company over. BUT he talks SO LOUD, that I've literally heard him previous times through my windows talking with his guest(s). I have not heard his voice since the 13th.

Cue to today, there's definitely been someone up there, same as every day for the last week, stomping around then going silent before stomping around again, back and forth from living room to bedroom, slamming dresser drawers and squeaking the floor in front of the closet over and over. The vacuum came out for the first time in a while, still sounded like my ceiling was going to cave in on me with all the banging. 'There he is,' I thought. Back to work hopefully.

And then.

9:30pm. There's a guy calling for someone at the side entrance. Once. Twice. Three times. I scurry to the window to look: it's a bald dude, never seen him before. Footsteps above me, the balcony door opens, woman's voice replies back. Walking through the apartment, I hear the front door open and close and then footsteps going down in the stairwell. Side door opens. Footsteps up the stairwell, door opens, two people now upstairs.

Maybe... neighbour actually IS on vacation and someone is apartment sitting? Coming by to feed his cat and keep them company? I know he's had the same woman over a few times, hard to tell from footsteps alone if this is her. Is it a friend? Girlfriend? Sister? Well, it sounds pretty quiet...

What--what is that sound? The wind? Is it from the tv? *Mutes tv* Oh no. No no. It's squeaking. And repetitive knocking. From upstairs. It's definitely the couch. The couch is bouncing. Yup.

It didn't last long (pfft) BUT. Ewww??? You invite some person over to the apartment that does not belong to you and f*ck on the couch?! Who are you?? Has my neighbour set up an Airbnb??? Is he being cheated on???? I AM SO CONFUSED.

Baldie left pretty much exactly one hour after he showed up, racing down the stairs with a bounce in his step (lol), and half hour after that I'm pretty sure the woman left too, all quiet since. So if she's not sleeping here, what's with all the rummaging in the bedroom closets and dresser? WEIRD.

Makes me wish I could cross paths with the neighbour at some point just to make some offhand comment about how the couple watching his place while he was gone were really noisy and he might wanna change the couch cover 💀
