Bandai Announces Digimon Kenji Watanabe Edition Digimon V-Pet at 2023 DIGIMON CON

DIGIMON CON sure had a lot of surprises in store, and that even included new Digimon virtual pets! The new Digimon Kenji Watanabe edition called version MetalGreymon and version Numemon are designed by Kenji Wantanbe. Kenji is the chief designer responsible for designing a variety of Digimon.

His newest art is graffiti styling featuring moments of like sprite assets, the Diigimon logo, and more! The design was made so that it moves between all 6 sizes as one piece of art, how cool is that?

UV printing was used to cure the art onto the plastic shells, and the back of the LCD panel features the DIGIMON CON logo. Programming on both is identical to the US Digimon Original virtual pet re-release, rather than the Japanese programming, indicating that this device will be fully in English. MetalGreymon uses the programming from the Brown version of the Digimon, and Numemon uses the programming from the Gray version of Digimon.

Preorders are already available at Premium Bandai Japan for 5,500 yen and they are set to close on March 13th, 2023. These Digimon virtual pets will ship in July 2023. The appeal of these two are the designs featured on the shells, and you know they will be a collector’s item, they’re just gorgeous!

Bandai Namco US Announces New Wave of Digimon 20th Anniversary Devices

They’re already on shelves, which means it’s usually when Bandai Namco US announces an official Digimon release. Bandai Namco US has just announced on their official Twitter account that there are four new Digimon 20th anniversary shells in town! These shells should look familiar as they were officially announced back in February during Digimon Con 2022!

The tweet encourages fans to head over to Amazon where they are all now available for an MSRP of $19.99 and feature original 20th anniversary programming. The four new shells are titled Dark Camouflage, Dino Camouflage, Tie Dye, and Blue Camouflage.

The release date for these four new shells are set for July 8th, 2022. Be sure to place your preorders soon!

Digimon Promotional Video is a Digital Spot, Not a Television Commercial

Remember that promotional video Bandai posted back in October? It looked very similar to a commercial you might see on television. Digimon fans got super excited in hopes that a Digimon commercial would be airing on television to promote the Digimon virtual pets, including the new Digimon X.

We reached out to Bandai America to see if this video was a commercial we would expect to see on our television. Bandai America cleared the air that this video is actually a digital spot, and not a television commercial. You should expect to see this video on social media, and Bandai’s website, but not on your television. Hopefully soon we will get a Digimon commercial on television!

To help celebrate Amazon Prime Day 2021, Bandai America has launched three sales to help Amazon Prime members score a deal on a new virtual pet. The Hello Kitty Tamagotchi, Tamagotchi On & Digimon V-Pet have both been marked down. The Hello Kitty Tamagotchi was marked down to $13.99, the Tamagotchi On for just $28.99 and higher, and lastly the Digimon V-Pets which start at $10.99.

It is important to note that only the pink Fairy Tamagotchi on is listed at $28.99, and the others are a bit higher, but the pink is adorable. If you're still looking to score a deal today, be sure to check these three out. This is the lowest we’ve seen any of these three devices.

Digimon X North America Launch This Summer!

In a recent video posted by Bandai Japan, the dropped some major news about the Digimon brand! The Digimon X, previously released in Japan back in March 2019 will soon be available in North America & overseas this summer! This is HUGE news for Digimon fans, the Digimon X was formerly listed on Premium Bandai America last year, but this will most likely mean the device will become localized and available in retail stores!

The Digimon X features not only new shells, but new characters and features that Digimon fans worldwide are excited to see. We are so happy to see that Bandai is truly seeing the interest that North America has in the Digimon brand!

Toy Dealers & Shops List Digimon X2 V-Pet Prior to Official Announcement

Will the North American market receive the Digimon X2 v-pet? Well it sure does look like it. Toy dealers and shops have begun to list the US version of the Digimon X2. It appears that stores are in the process of ordering their stock for an upcoming announcement and release. Based on product listings it appears that the X2 will be erased in March/April of 2022 in red & gold, purple & silver, grey & gold, and navy & silver.

The Digimon X2 was previously released in the US through Premium Bandai America for $36, but these featured Japanese programming and packaging. We’d expect to see a native US release with English programming, packaging, and a price point of $19.99. We’ll just have to stay tuned to see how this turns out.
