Protecting yourself against the Corona Virus
So the death toll reached 1300 people recently. I'm not here to spread panic but rather educate.
---
Update: I originally created this post in 13rd February. It’s 23rd February now and there are 2300 dead and 77000 infected. The virus managed to take foot abroad:
Tumblr media
[source]
It has become a real danger at this point.
----
Infection rates strongly depend on our performance as collective. Currently it does still have potential to grow into a pandemia with today's international travel. (When I typed this out 3 days ago (Update: on 10th Feb), a day later the German Robert Koch institute voiced the same concerns... Lol)  If we don't take this Virus outbreak seriously enough it's gonna spread even more. Taking it seriously does not mean panic. There are things you can do. You’re not helpless. Please protect yourself.
Also do not ever trust the government with this shit. THEY HAVE BEEN NEGLIGENT in handling this.
Update: What we currently know about the virus:
The virus spreads via droplet infection
Incubation time was corrected from 14 days to up to 27 days (consider that and think about how people from many different countries were sent home). To me it seems like the virus has a very long “dormant” phase and lingers inside of your body until it manages to destroy your immune system
The virus is sneaky because even if you are infected, you show no symptoms and can still infect others in that state
It multiplies inside the throat which explains its high infectiousness (the SARS virus multiplied in the lungs)
Symptoms include breathing troubles, coughing, fever. It causes the lung to transfer less oxygen into your blood which can lead to cardiac arrest.
The death rate is supposedly about 2-5%
Supposedly around 80% of coronavirus patients only have mild symptoms while 20% have the serious form which can potentially lead to death
(This is what I managed to read in my local, non-english news, I will provide english sources later)
How to protect yourself:
Avoid large groups of people
If you use public transport (metro, bus) you might be at a high risk due to the confined space. Even more so if those transport systems are connected to international airports. In that case make sure to wear appropriate breathing protection (see below)
Cancel your travel plans, especially regions affected by the Virus
Avoid travelling to China or countries bordering to China. Ideally avoid asiatic countries altogether. Cancel your travel plans if you have any. (There was this person from Britain who infected many people in many different countries, e.g. Spain/Mallorca)
In fact, the less people travel, the better.
Take care of yourself
Because the Virus appears to have a large incubation time and might be slowly draining out its host until they become sick, take breaks, take off from work, take care of yourself. Especially if you’re feeling signs of exhaustion, or are struggling with a cold or fever. You might be struggling with an infection, or worse, the corona virus itself. Do anything that helps you recover and spare yourself.
Boost your immune system
You can boost up your immune system by
a healthy, varied diet (lots of veggies and fruit e.g. broccoli, carrots, sweet potato, citrus fruits, tomatoes, to name a few healthy crops)
dietary supplements work as well, but a healthy diet is preferred
frequent outside activities, no matter the weather
taking cold showers and breathing exercises (e.g. a la Wim Hof method)
Wash your hands frequently
20 to 30% of influenza infections can be avoided by washing your hands frequently, e.g. after using the toilet or every time you go outside, use public transport etc. etc.. It might help against the corona virus as well.
Desinfect your electronics
Tablet, cellphone, keyboard and mouse are touching our hands frequently and we hardly ever clean them (at least I don’t). Now is the time to change that. However, make sure to use the right disinfectants (see below)
Wear Breathing Protection
If you get protection masks, make sure you get the right ones. Paper masks without filter won't help. There are filtering classes that protect against different particles and need to fulfill certain norms, EN 149:2001+A1:2009 in particular for europe.  You will need at least FFP3 class masks to effectively protect yourself from viruses. Surgical masks also provide FFP3 class protection IF they fulfill that specific norm (very important!!!) If it’s not normed, its not gonna help you.
Tumblr media
Most FFP3 masks go with a ventile and are meant for single shift usage (8hours), they are marked properly with a N in that case. I have seen FFP1/2 masks being sold out in my local craft stores - lol those aren't gonna help ya much... Maybe against large dust particles, e.g. from busy streets, at most.
Tumblr media
Use Desinfectants
Just like with breathing protection, there are different grades of desinfectants. I personally do not think that desinfectant tissues or spray you can get at most grocery stores will also kill off the Corona Virus. Desinfectant supplies intended for medical usage (surgeries) most likely will, they particularly have to fulfill the norm EN14476 in order to protect against viruses. [more info]
Tumblr media
Stockpile on Breathing Protection and Desinfectant Spray
I keep hearing in my local news that desinfectant spray is useless and there is no point in using it at all (lol the stuff at the grocery store maybe, yes). Don’t listen to that shit. Governments and News Agencies are trying to manage the high demand and control public perception. Protect yourselves. Breathing masks and desinfectant spray are usually sold out in many online stores and local stores alike and you should get them when you see them. You don’t have to buy a 5 months supply (yet), but they’re good to have until production rates meet the high demand.

Being Pregnant Amidst Covid-19
Being pregnant is a scary thing itself, there’s a lot of anxiety and worry that comes along with it. Even more so with this Corona virus going around.  A few months ago, we had plans in place on how to go about this. Yet everything flipped 2 weeks ago when the country started being plagued with the virus. It really shows that we can plan all we want but ultimately, God is in charge.  So we adjusted and fast forward to today, we are under ‘enhanced community quarantine’.
Yesterday was the 20th week into my pregnancy, and now it feels like I have all the time in the world for an update (something I have been putting off for too long). I need to do it so I have something to look back to before I forget the details of my pregnancy.
The first trimester:
I honestly didn’t feel any of the symptoms like nausea and morning sickness at the beginning, which made me feel like I was probably one of the lucky ones who didn’t experience those symptoms. I had regular migraines though which got really bad on some days.  But to my surprise, it was towards the end of the first trimester when I started throwing up certain food (anything oily was disgusting to me), felt the morning sickness. I didn’t have any particular food craving, except for the crunchy green mangoes from Mactan. But I only requested for those on Sundays (less traffic -because poor Johnnie was the one always driving).  My check ups during this time were always good, the babies were within normal sizes each time and there were no complications. Caffeine was restricted because it might interfere with the blood flow to the babies, and I was put on low sugar diet and thank God I’m not really into sweets so this wasn’t a torture. I do like fruit juices but I tried to keep everything natural as much as possible.  I still had those bottled juices once in a while.
The second trimester:
I’m still on my second trimester as I write, but as I entered my second trimester, that was when I got really stressed physically and emotionally due to having to move in to a new place and we had to do a lot of shopping (thus, walking), and it doesn’t help that Manila is such a large city that even malls were large-scale compared to Cebu. On top of it all, I also got scared of the Manila traffic so I wasn’t as hydrated as I should have been. Because hello, bathroom trips triple during this time. So my first check up with my new OB in Manila, Dr. Eileen Manalo, was when I was 18 weeks pregnant (just after that very stressful week of buying all the stuff).  To our surprise, she ordered a lot of tests (mostly for infectious diseases to be safe, I guess) and she ordered the 75g OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) since diabetes runs in the family and multiple pregnancies are more prone to gestational diabetes. She also did a physical examination, and checked the cervical length, as well. This was the part where the bad news came in, she saw that my cervix was short  (which is too soon) so she said she doesn’t want me moving, she put me on bed rest, progesterone therapy and a medicine that prevents uterine contractions. She said she didn’t want to but if she has to, she would have to perform a Cervical Cerclage or cervical stitch  in which the cervix is stitched close in order to prevent a miscarriage or premature birth.  Did too much walking cause this? Yes, probably.  We’re really praying we wouldn’t have to undergo the procedure, but of course if the doctor says it’s the best decision for us I will do it, for the babies.  It was during this time when  I actually felt them move inside my tummy, it’s true what they say, it feels like fluttering. It’s amazing, and Johnnie is crazy about them.  Due to the virus, my doctor is only seeing a few patients once or twice a week, and she has asked to see me this week. I think mine is considered a high risk pregnancy, because I’m having twins plus the short cervix issue.
From that first visit, I felt that Dr. Manalo is very thorough. She’s famous for a good reason, and I’m glad that we ended up going to her because we were initially scared of the waiting time based on what we read online before coming here.  We feel very lucky to be under Dr. Manalo’s care, because from the reviews online, we read that she is one of the highly sought after Infertility Specialists in the country, and the waiting time to see her takes so many hours due to the number of patients.  But she is the one my OB in Cebu, Dr. Marivic Tan referred, so of course we trust her judgment.  The first time we went to her clinic, we didn’t wait for too long because the other 9 patients who logged their names weren’t there waiting. So I got called 2nd or 3rd, and after examining me, she told us to tell the secretary next time not to make me wait for too long (that’s a good thing but not a good sign). Her nurse told us right after to request for wheelchair. I am to see her later this week for a follow up check up, will need all the prayers.

How To Make Beef Lasagna Detailed instructions and measurements can be found on the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page.
Preheat the oven: Set to 375 F degrees. -Brown the beef: In a sauce pan or skillet, cook the ground meat until no longer pink. Add chopped onion, 1 tbsp of the oregano, salt, pepper and continue cooking until onion is cooked through and translucent.
-Prepare the sauces: Add the marinara sauce to the skillet and the cup of water.
-Stir and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and set aside. In a small bowl combine the ricotta cheese, 1 tbsp oregano, eggs, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Mix well.
-Stack the lasagna: In a baking dish that’s about 9×13 inches, start assembling your lasagna. Start with a couple ladles of the sauce at the bottom, this is especially necessary now that the noodles aren’t cooked. Lay 3 lasagna noodles over the meat sauce. Next layer with ricotta mixture and about 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat until you have 4 layers of noodles, and end with ricotta cheese and mozzarella cheese.
Tips For Making The Best Lasagna
-Believe it or not, it’s not required to boil the noodles first, even though many recipes call for it. There is plenty of sauce in the recipe to cook the noodles while the lasagna is baking. Plus this way you end up with a firmer lasagna and no mushy noodles, but perfectly al dente. -Don’t be afraid to mix your ground meat for the sauce. This time I used ground beef, but if you’re feeling adventures, combine beef with pork or chicken and turkey. -Be sure to use lots of sauce to cook those noodles fully! -Use cottage cheese for even more creaminess. -Crumbled sausage is a nice addition to the ground beef if you want an even meatier sauce.
Leftovers Properly cool the beef lasagna before storing it, so that it will freeze and store evenly. It will stay fresh for 3 – 5 days in an airtight container in the fridge. Frozen lasagna will last for 2 – 3 months, just be sure to allow to thaw fully in the fridge before re heating.

“I hate every part of this.”
This was not how I spent Saturday nights. I spent them at home, in my sweatpants, eating ice cream and talking to my mom on the phone. Sometimes I’d be at a game, in the suites with a couple of friends from college, eating free food and taking too many pictures. But I definitely was not the bar type, or at least not at eleven o’clock at night.
“Will you stop complaining? This is your fault anyways,” my best friend reminded me. And she wasn’t wrong. I lost a bet and this was my punishment. To be forced out of my comfort zone and have a couple of drinks out on the town.
“Okay well I didn’t actually think he would score a goal tonight. I thought the odds were in my favor.” Becca smiled at me. “Maybe they are.”
I rolled my eyes and patiently waited for the Uber to stop outside of some campus bar. I’d heard of it, but never visited. It wasn’t my thing. Quiet coffee shops were my thing. Libraries were my thing. Not bars where you got packed in like sardines and it was so loud, you couldn’t even order a drink without screaming. My friends and I all loaded out, Becca taking the lead, while I fell behind Eliza and Lacey.
After the bouncer checked our ID’s, we walked in and I immediately felt anxious. There were bright lights and drunk people everywhere. I quickly followed the girls to a table in the corner, trying to just catch my breath.
“Earth to Harper?” I snapped my head up to see the girls looking straight at me. “What?”
Becca smiled. “Drink order? I’m gonna go to the bar.”
“Whatever, is fine,” I mumbled. “Just a beer.” Becca squeezed my hand before she disappeared for the bar and I immediately started to dart my eyes. Taking in my surroundings. Figuring out what I got myself into.
And that’s when I noticed them.
They grabbed the attention of most of the bar. Tall, big boys. Hockey players. Professional hockey players.
“Holy shit!” I heard Eliza yell. “Is that the team?” I nodded. “Some of them.” I wasn’t sure anyone heard me. I didn’t really care. I was focused on the group of guys pushing their way to the bar, right next to where my best friend was. Just mere inches from our table.
This really was a bad idea.
“Fuck, they’re so hot.”
“Do you think they’re single?”
“Would they come here if they weren’t?”
I ignored the girls and their questions for a bit, focusing on the group. It was weird to me, seeing guys I’ve watched from afar for so long, right in front of me. I knew they went out. Word travels when you’re friends with a bunch of gorgeous girls. Friends of friends have had some experiences. But you never really expect it to happen to you. And you definitely don’t expect any of them to notice you.
But then they do.
“Harper, that one’s looking at you.”
I forced myself to look away. “Lacey, they’re not zoo animals. His name is Ryan.” I knew he couldn’t hear me, but I still felt nervous. Like somehow he’d only hear his name and know where it came from. My face was hot and my heart was racing. God, they really were beautiful.
“Harper, go talk to them!” I swung my head to look at Eliza. “Are you crazy? Why would I go talk to them?”
Eliza smiled. “Because Ryan is looking at you, not us.”
“The air quotes are not necessary, E. That’s his actual name.”
I looked back up at the group and noticed Becca coming back with our drinks. I grabbed the Corona she ordered for me and downed half of it in one sip. I could feel the girls watching me as I set the bottle down.
“Are you okay?” I shook my head. “No. I need a water.”
I stepped off the bar seat and stepped closer to the bar, squeezing in between a very pretty blonde girl and Boone Jenner. I patiently waited for the bartender to notice me, trying to just be cool. I didn’t want to draw attention to myself, so I didn’t move much. I could feel three sets of eyes watching me intently from behind, but I couldn’t turn around. I kept myself facing forward, trying not to eavesdrop. Until I felt Boone step away and someone else fill his spot.
“Is he ignoring you?”
I turned to my right slowly, my eyes coming to land on a pair of stunning brown eyes. Could brown eyes be stunning? Brown eyes were always ignored. Every country song was about blue eyes, sometimes green. But never brown. I always felt offended myself, having brown eyes, and I wondered if anyone found them stunning.
Not now, Harper. Jesus.
“I’m sorry?” I asked. “Who?”
Ryan smiled. Oh fuck did he smile. “The bartender. Did you need something?”
I nodded. “Oh! Just a water. It’s no big deal. I can wait.” He turned his body toward me now, and I noticed his friends had disappeared, surrounding the table my friends were occupying. How convenient.
Ryan extended his hand. “Ryan.” I smiled and took it in mine. “I’m Harper. Great game tonight.”
He nodded. “Thank you. Were you there?” Now it was my turn to nod. “I was. It’s actually your fault I’m standing at the bar tonight.”
Ryan started laughing. “Why’s that?”
I bit my lip. “I made a bet with my friends. If you scored, we went to the bars tonight. But if you didn’t, we ordered pizza and went home to drink.”
“Ah well I’m sorry I ruined pizza night. Let me make it up to you with a drink.” I smiled. “You don’t have to do that. You deserved the goal. It doesn’t happen often.”
Ryan laughed again. “Ouch, that hurts a little bit.” I laughed with him. It felt nice, and also surreal. “Wait, can I ask why it was me who had to score tonight? There are plenty of other guys you could’ve chosen from.”
I swallowed hard and shifted a little. “Uh, well, because you don’t score a ton of goals and you’re my favorite on the team so my friends were teasing me, I guess. That’s embarrassing. I’m sorry. You don’t need to be talking to some dumb fangirl.”
He smiled and set his bottle on the bar. “I don’t think you’re dumb. It’s not like I have a huge group of fans in the city, or anywhere really, except maybe back home. Plus, and this is no disrespect to your friends, but my friends have lost interest and they’re going to leave that table in five minutes. I, on the other hand, have no plans of leaving here.”
“What if we left together?”
It left my lips before I even fully thought it through. Here I was, exposing myself as not only a fangirl, but someone who was clearly willing to leave my friends behind and go somewhere with a stranger. A hot stranger. A really fucking hot stranger.
“Where would we go? If we left together?”
I shrugged. “Personally I’m starving and can’t stop thinking about pizza. And I know there’s a place down the road open late. But you don’t have to leave with me. I don’t really know what I was saying.”
“What makes you think I would rather be here than somewhere much quieter, eating pizza with you?”
“Besides the fact that you know absolutely nothing about me?”
Ryan smiled at me. “I know your name is Harper, and I know you hate bars like this. What’s the worst that could happen at a tiny little pizza place down the road from all of our friends?”
I bit my lip to hide a smile. “Okay, that’s fair. I can always call Becca if you’re a huge weirdo.” He started laughing. “Can you even eat pizza? Is that part of your diet?”
“I’ll just skate a little harder at practice on Monday. I’ll take a risk. I think it might be worth it.”
I leaned off the bar. “I’ll grab my purse and let the girls know. Should I just tell your friends while I’m over there?” Ryan straightened up and grabbed his beer bottle again, smiling. “I’ll come with you.” I walked towards the table, Becca’s eyes burning holes in me. I wish there was time to explain to her what was happening, but I wasn’t even sure I knew what was happening. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I was convinced this wasn’t even real. I’ll wake up in the morning and this will all just be a very detailed dream I had after a night on the town.
“I’m gonna head out,” I announced but Becca was the only one listening. “I’ll see you in the morning?” She nodded. “Be safe.” I could always read Becca like a book. She thought this was a dumb idea. We were never really the girls who left the bar with a hot stranger. We showed up and left together, after a few drinks and a lot of dancing. And that was on the rare occasion we even went out. But nothing about tonight was going according to plan.
I turned to face Ryan, who was still talking to Boone. “Please don’t act like complete idiots once I leave. I’m not coming back for you.” Boone slurred something I couldn’t even try to make out and I choked back a giggle. “I’m out. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
He turned to me and smiled. “Ready?”
The Lyft ride to the pizza place was quiet, and our drive probably thought he was escorting an awkward first date around town. But it was a comfortable quiet. And usually I’d blame the drinks for how calm I was feeling with him, but I barely had half a beer, so everything was very clear to me.  Ryan was just calming. His voice and the way he carried himself. It was attractive and that was so rare to find, at least for me. And he was soft. The way he spoke about his family and his job. I felt like I could listen to him talk every minute of every day.
“So do you come to a lot of games?”
I smiled and shrugged. “Not as many as I’d like. I spend more time watching them from the comfort of my couch. We’ve got a friend, Eliza; she gets suite tickets a lot from work so we use those when we can.”
Ryan smiled and took a slow sip of water. “Do you have tickets for Monday’s game?” I shook my head. “I’ll have some under your name. Lounge bands too.”
I laughed. “Are you trying to buy my attention, Murray?”
“Not at all. I just want to be able to see you again after tonight but my job tends to get in the way. So if you’re at a game, in the lounge, I have a better chance of seeing you when it’s over.”
It was cute. He was cute. And I really liked the way I felt with him. He probably could’ve asked me to pick up trash with him and I’d do it. Maybe this is why I’ve never dated? “I’ll be there Monday. Who says no to free tickets?”
The rest of the night felt so easy. It wasn’t until around 2am when I realized I should probably be heading home, brunch plans with my mother looming in the near future. I checked my watch and felt myself frown. “I should probably get going.”
“Can I get your number?” I smiled at how rushed he asked, thankful I wasn’t the only one suffering from word vomit tonight. I took his phone from his hand and entered my number, adding a pizza emoji after my name, “Thank you for tonight, Harper. I had a lot of fun.”
I nodded in agreement. “I did too. I kinda wanna do it again sometime.”
We had moved to the sidewalk outside now, both waiting for our cars to show up. The air was cool, but still unseasonably warm for a late winter night in Ohio. I shivered, wrapping my arms around myself. I looked up and caught Ryan looking down at me, the cutest smile on his face. Before I could speak, a car pulled up to the curb, the car I was waiting on. I felt myself deflate, not ready to leave yet. But then I felt Ryan’s lips on my cheek and my whole body felt electric. I felt the kiss all the way in my toes and I definitely wasn’t cold anymore.
“Good night, Harper.”

her full name is gabriela clarinda corona. there wasn’t much of a specific reason as to why it was chosen, her parents just thought it sounded good. in terms of meaning anything, her last name is significant because corona is spanish for crown and when i was developing her, i had this whole heiress, rich girl aesthetic running.
3. did they have a good childhood? what are fond memories they have of it? what’s a bad memory?
she had a relatively good childhood. her best memories include anything having to do with spending time with her mother, father, and extended family. her worst memory is when her mother died. she was only five at the time, but she remembers a good deal of her mother getting sick and then passing away.
5. do they have any siblings? what’s their names? what is their relationship with them? has their relationship changed since they were kids to adults?
she is an only child. her parents planned to have more kids, but her mother died when she was five and her father never remarried or had any interest in seeing other women.
7. did they have lots of friends as a child? did they keep any of their childhood friends into adulthood?
yes and no. she definitely had a lot of friends as a kid and into her teen years, but none of them were really true friends. by the time most people started realizing that she was basically loaded or who her father was, that became the reason people befriended her. so she definitely kept them at arms length and none of them were really kept into adulthood.
9. do animals like them? do they get on well with animals?
she LOVES animals. her favorite animals are dogs and she wants one of her own, but never ends up adopting one. she feels that she gets on well with most animals.
11. do they have any special diet requirements? are they a vegetarian? vegan? have any allergies?
she doesn’t have any special diet requirements. is not vegetarian or vegan, but she doesn’t eat meat or other animal products constantly. she doesn’t have any allergies.
13. what is their least favorite food?
her least favorite food is kale. sure, it’s good for you, but at what cost?
15. are they good at cooking? do they enjoy it? what do others think of their cooking?
gabi is a VERY good cook. she lives alone and prefers to make her own meals over ordering in or going out to eat. she really does enjoy cooking and it brings back a few memories of when she and her mother used to cook together, although they’re a bit fuzzy on the details. anyone who tries gabi’s cooking usually likes it. her best friend, dax, would probably insist she cook for him all the time and once steve is involved in her life, he definitely doesn’t mind her cooking.
17. do they like to take photos? what do they like to take photos of? selfies? what do they do with their photos?
she loves taking photos. she’s very big on taking selfies with basically anyone she can rope into it (mostly dax, who suffers through each one in annoyance). a lot of her photos just get posted right to social media, but if they’re super sentimental she likes to get them printed and hangs them up.
19. what’s their least favorite genres?
her least favorite genres are anything that’s like non fiction or like real life war related. least favorite genre of music is country.
21. do they have a temper? are they patient? what are they like when they do lose their temper?
she has a temper, but she knows how to control it (especially now, since losing control of her anger means losing control of her powers). she can be patient if she needs to be. if she loses her temper, most of her focus shifts to keeping the whole electricity thing under control.
23. do they have a good memory? short term or long term? are they good with names? or faces?
she has a fairly decent memory. she tends to forget trivial things, but if it’s important she’s bound to remember it. short term and long term are basically the same. she’s better with faces than names, but she knows how to play it like she remembers everyone’s names.
25. what do they find funny? do they have a good sense of humor? are they funny themselves?
she can find a lot of things funny, there’s not really a limit on it. she has a decent sense of humor and she’s fairly amusing herself.
27. what makes them sad? do they cry regularly? do they cry openly or hide it? what are they like they are sad?
it takes a lot to make her really sad. like, sure, she can be sad at movies and fictional stuff but it’s never like true sadness. she doesn’t cry too regularly, but if she starts crying she tends to want it to be private over it being open. when she’s sad, she’s likely to curl up on her couch in a giant sweater with comfort foods.
29. what do they do when they find out someone else’s fear? do they tease them? or get very over protective?
when she finds out someone else’s fear, her reaction depends on the person and the severity. for example, spiders freak the hell out of dax, but it’s not like the kind of fear where it can cause him to go into full blown panic, so she tends to tease him about it. if there was someone with a fear that she knew deeply affected them, she’d definitely get protective over the person.
31. do they drink? What are they like drunk? what are they like hungover? how do they act when other people are drunk or hungover? kind or teasing?
gabi is a regular wine mom. she loves drinking. wine, champagne, cosmos, margaritas, honestly any sort of fancy drink that’s not beer, she adores. she doesn’t typically get drunk and it takes a lot for her to get drunk. if she ever does though, she’s a very flirty drunk. hangovers don’t affect her too too much, she’s more of a take an advil and drink some water type of person. she gets amused when other people are hungover, but she’s very protective and caring towards her drunk pals.
33. what underwear do they wear? boxers or briefs? lacy? comfy granny panties?
this girl is BIG on pretty, lacy, matching underwear. honestly, unless she’s on her period or working, you can almost guarantee that she’s wearing some expensive (and probably tiny) lingerie set.35. what’s their guilty pleasure? what is their totally unguilty pleasure?
she’s an avid fan of trash tv (so, like, reality shows like the bachelor or kuwtk). she thinks the whole concept is stupid, but she really enjoys watching people fight and the whole drama of it. her unguilty pleasure is chocolate. literally, anything chocolate and she’s sold.
37. Do they like to read? are they a fast or slow reader? do they like poetry? fictional or non fiction?
she doesn’t mind reading, but it’s not one of her favorite pastimes. not too slow, but not too fast either. not a big poetry fan. prefers fiction over non fiction.
39. do they like letters? or prefer emails/messaging?
she prefers emails and messaging over letters, mostly because of the time it takes for a letter to go through the mail. however, if someone *cough* steve *cough* wants to write her a letter, she’s down.
41. what’s their sexuality? what do they find attractive? physically and mentally? what do they like/need in a relationship?
gabi is bisexual. physically, she’s definitely attracted to nice eyes and pretty smiles. mentally, she’s attracted to people who are dedicated, honest, and aren’t looking to screw people over. relationship wise, she needs trust and honesty and compromise.
43. are they religious? what do they think of religion? what do they think of religious people? what do they think of non religious people?
she was raised as catholic, but she’s not super religious. like, she doesn’t go to church or pray often, but she’ll go at least once or twice a year with her father for holidays and such. as for religious and non religious people, she doesn’t really mind either one as long as everyone’s respectful about other’s beliefs and identities.
45. how do other people see them? is it similar to how they see themselves?
due to her father’s business and wealth, most people tend to view gabi as a spoiled, entitled brat. she knows that, when she joins the avengers, they basically view her as this rich bitch turned vigilante. none of this is how gabi sees herself, because she knows that the way the public views her is far from the truth.
47. how do they act in a formal occasion? what do they think of black tie wear? do they enjoy fancy parties and love to chit chat or loathe the whole event?
gabi is the queen of formal events. because of her father’s business, she’s been toted to many, many socialite type events and became well versed on how to act appropriately in public and schmooze with the best of them. an avid fan of fashion, she loves a good black tie event because this girl loves getting dolled up. she can honestly say that she does enjoy most events and parties, but that’s mostly because she definitely enjoys chit chat and the whole idea of events.
49. what is their most valued object? are they sentimental? is there something they have to take everywhere with them?
her most valued object are all the pictures she has of her mother. she tends to be fairly sentimental, but there’s nothing that she has to take everywhere with her (as of yet).

What Impacted COVID-19 on Amaranth Oil Market ?
Tumblr media
Impact of COVID-19 on Amaranth Oil Market in Food and Beverages Industry
The COVID-19 pandemic has influenced the whole planet with its major impacts on the economy and businesses across the globe. The COVID-19 spread worldwide in unprecedented ways due to its high infectious and contagious nature and lack of availability of its vaccine. As a result, the greatest medical challenge in the 21st century is yet to be faced by physicians worldwide. Though the emergence of the virus can be traced back to Asia, many European countries along with the U.S. have been struck massively by the pandemic. The virus has spread across all regions ranging from North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa up to South America. The COVID-19 has been declared as a pandemic by World Health Organization (WHO) due to its increased spread across the globe. After the declaration of the pandemic, various countries announced the complete lockdown such as India, China, and other Asian countries to decrease its spread. According to the latest situation report by World Health Organization (WHO) stated 175 million cases of Corona have been reported globally and 4 million patients are dead due to the coronavirus. On a slightly positive note, a total of 158 million people have recovered and a total of 2 million vaccine doses have been administered as well.
Amaranth oil industry has been impacted due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. As many production and manufacturing plants were closed due to lockdown, the shortage of raw material directly decreases the availability of oil products as per the preferences unlike before. The revenue generation by the company decreased due to lockdown as the demand for non-essential products decreases, therefore it leads to a decline in growth of the amaranth oil market.
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly hit the nutritional progress of consumers across the world. The persistence of the COVID-19 for a longer period has adversely affected the most vulnerable groups of the population. From a business perspective, COVID-19 is significantly decreasing commercial activity, particularly in the consumer sector. However, consumer demand for various oils has increased as interest in overall health and wellness has grown.
Due to the implemented highly restrictive mass quarantines which have affected many markets and their economies, the first half of the pandemic phase shows a great decline in the sales and market of amaranth oils due to restrictions on going out and closing of retail stores as V-Mart, and Big Bazaar among more.
The key reasons for the growth of the amaranth oil industry before the COVID-19 pandemic include an increase in demand for essential oil and rising demand for the medicinal oil market. The increase in concern of health disorders has promoted healthy lifestyles and food-specific diets which are expected to give a boost to the global amaranth oil market.
The post-pandemic period will see a significant increase in amaranth oil consumption, which will ultimately fuel the demand growth during the forecast era. Owing to the latest guidelines by the government which looks to ease several services, retail availability of branded amaranth oil should improve.  Restoring demand for food, biological products, and cosmetics suggests a lucrative growth for the amaranth oil market after the viral epidemic is over. In addition, global market players are focused on forming alliances and partnerships to offer superior quality goods in the marketplace.
Despite the huge demand for food after a pandemic, however, shutdowns are anticipated to impede the amaranth oil market growth for a considerable period.
IMPACT ON PRICE
Due to COVID–19, the price of amaranth oil has been widely affected. The shortage of raw material supply has increased the overall prices of amaranth oil due to the high demand and low supply.
Limited availability of amaranth oil and increasing demand have further augmented the prices, which has also affected the prices of amaranth oil-based products such as cosmetics, aroma products, food supplements, and others.
IMPACT ON DEMAND
COVID-19 has highly affected the demand of the amaranth oil market as amaranth oil has high concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids. The ingredients which help fight aging, protect against the sun, are anti-inflammatory and help hydrate the skin. Squalene is an important moisturizing agent for the skin. There is an increase in demand for plant-based products during the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19.
New consumers are emerging and adopting amaranth oil for boosting their immunity and also food supplements made from amaranth oil are widely adopted to improve overall immunity.
Amaranth oil has a high concentration of antioxidants and phytosterols, so, it has been associated with several health benefits, including reducing inflammation, lowering cholesterol levels, and increasing weight loss. The leaves are low in saturated fats and have micronutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin B6, folate, niacin, riboflavin, vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper, and manganese. These substances provide many benefits health benefits to the body which are essential to improve immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
For instance,
The COVID-19 crisis caused a historic decline in global oil demand but not necessarily a lasting one. Achieving an orderly transition away from oil is essential to meet climate goals, but it will require major policy changes from governments as well as accelerated behavioral changes. Without that, global oil demand is set to increase every year between now and 2028.
IMPACT ON SUPPLY
The supply chain has been affected more due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Manufacturers are not being able to clear the old stock in the inventory and not able to manage the future demands of the amaranth oil in several industries which are impacting the demand of the global market. Due to the lockdown, there is a shortage of supply as most of the laborers are not working due to the pandemic situation and companies are not able to supply their products on time.
The growing demand for amaranth oil due to healthier aspects has a positive impact on the global amaranth oil market. According to trade organizations in the nutritional products industry, there is a significant impact on many points in the global supply chain for natural oil and plant-based products including amaranth oil.
COVID-19 has affected the centers of the global value chains, causing highly impactful disruptions that determined ripple effects throughout all phases of the supply chain, from production to processing and distribution. The triggering factor of all such consequences is the containment measures adopted by national governments to limit the spread of the coronavirus, which caused drastic paradigm shifts.
Due to the lack of raw material and labor in the pandemic situation, the demand for amaranth oil could not be fulfilled. Such panic-buying is exacerbating supply chain bottlenecks and driving cultivators to order more cultivation supplies in anticipation of continued demand for amaranth oil.
Plant-based products such as amaranth and olive oil are facing supply chain disruptions due to less availability of labor, improper and slow supply of ready products for export, etc. Thus, the effect of COVID-19 on the supply chain of amaranth oil is severe.
AMARANTH OIL  MANUFACTURERS AND INDUSTRY LEADERS: PERSPECTIVE & INITIATIVES
COVID-19 outbreak has affected every sector in the market which also includes the amaranth oil market. The industry has been affected as the supply and demand are badly disrupted. Many companies are losing their key revenue sources as food services outlets are closed or decreased their sales. Some companies have closed their production facilities to mitigate potential risks from COVID-19 during the first and second quarters of 2020. Many amaranth oil companies are taking initiatives during COVID-19.
Companies are adapting to the unprecedented challenges posed by the quickly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, and take steps to ensure we are operating safely.  Companies continue to assess the situation daily and take actions in an abundance of caution to maintain business continuity while focusing on the safety and health of our customers and employees, including:
·         Maintaining the supply chain, this has had minimal impact on company’s ability to serve their customers with continued supply reliability
·         Implementing contingency plans at production locations and working with suppliers to ensure continued operation without disruption
·         Increasing our distribution capacity, adjusting hours of operations, and positioning our inventory to replenish products from alternative locations
·         Ensuring customer service and logistics organizations are fully operational as they work remotely
Several manufacturers in the global amaranth oil market are also coming forward to help each other in terms of finance as well as other market parameters to not only save the market scenario but to save themselves from the brutal grasp of the pandemic.
 CONCLUSION
Pandemic has taken a toll on every aspect of life, including the global economy. With the significant downfalls in many sectors, a collaborative effort of government, industry players, and consumers can win the fight against COVID-19.
In 2020, COVID-19 caused the high demand for oils such as amaranth oil to enhance their immunity.  People are taking precautions to fight the COVID-19 situation and continue to maintain their immunity levels at higher rates by the usage of plant-based products for health. Plant-based oils are helpful to the immune system from such infectious diseases. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in demand for amaranth oil to treat or prevent illness as well as usage in the cosmetic industry due to its vegan nature. Thus, there is an impact on COVID-19 on the global amaranth oil market up to some extent.
It continues to inflict the world with appalling economic and social dilemmas, capable enough to leave severe backlash on the economy for the next several years. The first wave had already inflicted severe blows to the population as well as the economy. The currently experiencing the second wave is expected to be more disastrous not only to the masses but also to food and beverages markets.
The lockdown in various countries affected the import and export of various products that create the shortage of supply and due to the increasing demands of amaranth oil; there can be a price hike in various amaranth oil products.
