I watch you from a distance
Because for the longest time
I’ve known you’re something dangerous
Maybe my phone battery will die
Before I get to finish this.
I fell hopelessly in love with you
It’s what you do.
You make people love you
And then watch them fall apart
I’ve seen you do it from the start
Their sadness fuels you
You feed on their tears
You used to feed on mine
Behind closed doors
You don’t anymore
Have you finally fallen in love too?
Or are you just bored?
-making the first move

Shout out to protectors who :
Have antisocial tendencies
Do everything to keep the system safe
are tired, but would do it all again
their way of protecting is sometimes labeled as "to harsh"
yall are doing your best, and youre the backbone of the system, youre loved and aprecciated

imagine during the third book where percy gets his final recommendation letter. he is approached by a god or goddess who asks him to reconcile past relationships. because to move forward, you can't let the things of the past hold you back. so percy gets closure with the side characters from the pjo og series. clarisse, nico, thalia, and rachel. and it just gets progressively more intimate until he has to confront one final person: the ghost of luke castellan.

ok jokes aside… I’ve said this before but like the whole design of Volcano Manor is soooo symbolic of who Rykard is as a character… when you enter the manor through the front door, it’s grand and lavishly decorated and well maintained:
but behind curtain it’s an absolute horror — sinister serpent-creatures, gruesome torture devices and cages, half-dead victims, piles of corpses.
During the Shattering Rykard built up this persona as a “worthy sovereign,” someone who dared to stand up to an unjust order and to do the unthinkable in order to fight for a new world, someone whose ideals inspired his followers to fight for him. Then, he seemingly threw all these ideals away when he fed himself to the serpent god, descending into “mere greed” for power… but I don’t think Rykard ever really changed, I think his true motivations were always for the sake of power. It’s why he enforced the law of the Erdtree so brutally and turned his cloak so readily; I think he enjoys the feeling of exercising his power over others and despises being treated like a servant. His transformation into a grotesque monstrosity that is greed personified is just the natural conclusion of his greatest flaws.
Though Rykard during the Shattering and Tanith during the present day present their goals as noble despite their blasphemous nature, in reality, they are violent and grotesque… it matches our view of Volcano Manor as an initially noble and impressive estate that grows more and more sinister as we explore beyond the walls of the main hall. The way the setting is designed perfectly matches the character that looms at the heart of it... and that’s why I think it makes perfect sense for Rykard to have himself crafted both the manor’s noble facade and the horrors “behind the curtain.”

IMPORTANT PSA ABOUT 'PROBLEMATIC SOURCES'
If you ban certain alters from certain sources from your space, you are being abelist. No one controls how introjects form, no one controls their source and no one exists just to trigger you. Try to take a minute to realize that excluding those alters alienates so many systems. It's not up to you how systems cope.

Plural Culture is getting a bit upset when ppl tell you "I can't believe you let {this alter} front, why would you ever let them out?"
Because first of all; we don't fucking control who fronts. Not even our gatekeepers have real control over that. Our brain throws whoever it thinks it needs to into front
We may have some influence over it, with positive triggers to try and get certain alters to front
But we have zero control of keeping other alters out of front
I have exactly 1 memory that involved an alter being forcibly removed from front (it was me)
And it was because I was fighting to stay in front during an extremely triggering moment, and it took half the fucking system to get me out of front
I was physically removed, and it drained everyone so harshly the body threw up and had to leave work early.
We do not control who fronts
And second! In a majority of systems, controlling front like that isn't healthy!! Most alters are meant to front!! Even the "bad" ones!!! *
Controlling front is so rarely actually a good thing!
Don't shit on systems for "letting" certain alters front, this isn't some fun quirky roleplay that we have control over. It's a fucking disorder
* I say most and majority, but do not mean ALL. I understand that in certain systems, most often ramcoa survivors, certain alters cannot be allowed to front. This post is not referring to cases such as those.
