not to go off on a tangent (positive) abt queer history based on a tag of yours on that bear post, but i thought you might enjoy knowing that at least one greco-roman myth about bears imagines the woman/bear that would become ursa major as masc :")

the reconstruction from the 1800s even identifies them as diana and orion because of how masculine the figure on the left is dressed. but a lot of scholars now do think it could be callisto!
