A Matter of Respect (Helper T Cell x Killer T! Reader)
Warnings: Slight fluff, implied fight to the death (jk).
Anonymous Request: Hello! Thank you for the Helper T headcanons! May I get a fluffy fic of Helper T falling for his Killer T Cell S/O, and maybe a disgruntled Killer T Squad Leader on the side? 👀 Thank you!
.
.
.
Killer T Cell looked at Helper T Cell.
“No.”
“But—”
“I respect you—” Killer T could feel his teeth grind against each other as he set his jaw. He wasn’t sure how, but it physically hurt him to say that aloud. “—but you cannot. Anyone else. Literally anyone else would be a better match for you.”
Despite Helper T’s obvious age, he pouted like a young lymphoblast who had been told that they had to run a particularly hard obstacle course because their time wasn’t fast enough. Seated in his office, it would seem that Helper T should have been the one holding all of the power in this situation, but it was simply not the case. Despite the differences in rank and position, the brunet lymphocyte was a cell who put a lot of emphasis and importance upon propriety and politeness. Though Killer T and himself might not have had the most pleasant of relationships, there was still a begrudging respect between them.
With respect came obligations.
And with obligations… There were times when they both had to swallow their pride and work together towards a common goal.
In this case—
“Killer T, I know that we have had our differences since we were young lymphoblasts, but you must understand that I only want what’s best for all of us!” Rectangular spectacles flashed with a brilliant gleam as Helper T leapt from his desk. While he may not have had the vigor enthusiasm for movement as he had when he was a youth, there was a power that radiated from his being. He wasn’t just asking as a fellow colleague, he was also asking as a comrade in arms—a brother forged from the same lymph node. “I want what’s best for them as well.”
Killer T groaned at the dramatics.
It was bad enough that he had to watch his least favorite neutrophil going after an erythrocyte, but having to witness the same sort of romantic declaration first hand, and from a colleague that he used to look up to as a lymphoblast was almost too much. There had to be a policy in place to prevent workplace romances, right?
This much romance in the body wasn’t healthy, Killer T was sure of it.
Even so, respect was respect.
Even if Killer T felt a lot of reservations concerning the fraternization between cells, he still owed Helper T for a lot from when they were both young lymphoblasts. He would never admit it, however.
That didn’t mean that Killer T was going to make it easy for the other lymphocyte.
Like everything that they had obtained in the immune system, nothing came from doing nothing. One had to work for their position, their prowess, their power.
Killer T wanted to see how far Helper T would go for one of his newer recruits.
“Fine then, if you really want them that badly.” Killer T squared his shoulders and smacked his fist into the palm of his other hand. “Fight me.”
__
Helper T was a pragmatic, if dramatic creature at heart. A part of him already knew that he might have to prove himself to Killer T that he was more than capable of making sure that one of the newest T Cell recruits, but he hadn’t expected that it would take a fistfight to the death to get him there. While it had been a long time since he had been out in the field, Helper T did manage to stay in shape. Despite his lean and wiry physique, he knew when to pack a punch when needed and if brute force wasn’t in the cards, then his quick thinking and wit could do the fighting for him.
The fight lasted only three quarters of a minute—if, even that.
Every step, every breath—it was all calculated. Killer T may have looked and played the part of a fearsome, bullying predator, but he was the leader of the Killer T division for a reason. Helper T was the main strategist for all lymphocytes, but even he could not deny that his colleague was just as mentally strong and flexible when it really counted.
Every strike delivered by the blond was perfectly executed. Just enough force for Helper T to take him seriously, but with precise aim and agility that it had the brunet immediately on the defensive. As a youth, Killer T was clumsy. Weak. Unskilled. And far from confident.
Today, Killer T was none of those things. He had graduated and had long since been promoted for greater things.
He knew what he was doing.
Meanwhile, Helper T moved in a rhythm that he thought he had long since forgotten. Waiting for your opponent to weaken from their initial attack was one strategy, but one that heavily relied on the fact that Killer T’s strength could not endure. However, winning wasn’t just outlasting your opponent; sometimes, you had to fight back to the fullest.
In a split second of analysis and with the innate knowledge of watching your colleagues train the new recruits over so many cycles, Helper T wound his arm back and brought it forward.
His fist slammed straight into Killer T’s face.
Thus, knocking the blond lymphocyte out cold.
Helper T won.
__
The infirmary wasn’t an uncommon sight for lymphocytes to congregate. After all, every immune cell had graced the halls of the infirmary at least once in their life. As Helper T deposited his long time rival and friend onto a gurney where he would be wheeled into a room, he found that there was a presence behind him.
Could it be…?
He looked behind him and found that his suspicions were right.
It was his favorite Killer T Cell… and with his comrade’s permission (and yes, Helper T considering Helper T’s yelling that was interspersed with coughing and spurts of blood to be permission) Helper T approached them, a bright grin on his face.
“Are you up for sparring during the next cycle?”
Gosh, he absolutely loves working with the immune system.

That's true! In the beginning 3803 was the one who was overly clingy and "Please let's be friends!" to such levels 1146 was all stoic about it. Then things got reversed. 1146 become the overly emotional one while 3803 become the cooler one in charge. If you try to interpret their moments as romantic, it's so one sided. I can find plenty of manga moments where 1146 acts like he's in love with her. W/3803 she barely shows a hint she could like him romantically.
YES. SOMEONE SAID IT.
We need more instances where it’s the male lead who’s head over heels for the female lead while she is either oblivious or being totally awesome without a forced romantic interest.
The change in the dynamic, no matter how subtle, is both cute and hilarious. You would think it would go all shoujo on us with 3803 pining, but she grows and develops naturally as a character on her own that it’s completely fine if there’s no romance. She is mature not only in the professional sense (progressing from the lost rookie to full veteran cell), but emotionally and relationally.
[This can be fully showcased in the COVID chapters and how she dealt with Rambo Normal Cell and his prejudices and fears].
Whereas with 1147, he’s near untouchable with his sense of professionalism. However, and I can see why 3803 got shafted in later arcs of Main, he has to grow as a cell in an emotional and relationship kind of sense. It’s been hinted that immune cells as a whole are kind of insulated in their little bubble, only seeking to aid and protect civilian cells. He’s stoic and aloof, not really associating with them.
Enter 3803 and that’s when he starts opening up and beginning to become more knowledgeable about the plights of other cells.
If 3803’s development was geared to becoming a better cell and understanding the systems of the body, then 1146’s development stems from learning how to become more open and reliant on other cells.
It’s such a great dynamic!!!
One can’t survive without the other and can be applied in real life situations. It’s good to have objective knowledge at times, but it’s also beneficial to know when to use emotional intelligence! It’s a great lesson to learned, especially in a shounen manga.
Hahahah! Thanks for listening to me rant and I hope that you have a wonderful day! :D

1146 went from talking to Cancer as he died and showing him kindness and acknowledgment for having a human side. To utter distress, helplessness, rage and total apathy for Cancer as he died. The guy even stomped on his arm for extra measure and looked very disturbed by Cancer's words. So much so he almost changed who he was just to avoid ever going through another Cancer. I believe whatever kindness he felt before fur Cancer is dead. 1146 completely regrets his actions and what they led to.
1146 definitely regrets some of his past actions, but I don't think his kindness for Cancer has dissipated if you're talking Abnormalities!verse. He's wary, for sure, but I think they're growing as individuals to realize that they need to be open with each other in order to heal.
If you're talking canon-verse, I don't think 1146 can ever truly hate a cell. Pathogens and bacteria? For sure. However, Cancer was once part of the body and he has shown over numerous occasions that he felt sympathy for what Cancer has gone through. He'll be professional and reserve his hatred for the true pathogens, but for Cancer, I think he would be kind enough to give him a merciful death.

Lol, regarding 1146 from the last ask. It just makes it funnier to think about 1146 having a one sided attraction to 3803 while she's just, eh I got his friendship what more could I want from him. = ) When it comes relationships, sometimes 1146 can have the worst luck.
YES.
^^^
Let 1146 pine!
Nothing makes me more happy than a character pining and in love.
Let's kick it up a notch and also say that while 3803 doesn't expect more than pure, wholesome friendship from 1146, she also wouldn't be opposed to developing a deeper connection with him.
*coughs* Pining idiots in love, please. ;)

There honestly is another side of Abnormalities where 1146's pov is about learning 3803 is missing to Cancer revealing his presence and that he has her. Finally to to their last battle with the implications Cancer and 1146 met and fought several times. At least that's the impression I got. It felt like Cancer really almost won that time considering 3803 was alone for some time after he made his presence known and their were a ton of immune cells as opposed to just the usual trio. -
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! You have no idea how much I’ve been smiling! :DDD
Anyways, I actually have a few thoughts concerning that “other side of Abnormalities”.
I’m glad that you thought that there was definitely more to the story! I knew that when I wanted to write each of the stories, it had to be a limited POV. They can’t be all knowing and they only had to react or be assertive concerning the information that they were already given.
It makes sense that you don’t know how many times 1146 and Cancer may have interacted with each other—or not. 3803 doesn’t know because Cancer won’t let her know unless he wants to. It’s a power imbalance that I wanted emphasized in RBA.
Meanwhile in VOA and NIA, I wanted to show that while Cancer and 1146 are powerful in their own right, they are still rather limited. They can only do the things that they are accustomed to doing, but in the end, have to adapt and overcome their own biases and flawed judgments in order to receive reconciliation with 3803.
Furthermore, I’ve been toying with the idea of adding 2-3 more stories that take place within the series?
I actually wanted to write a POV with AA-5100 becoming more and more suspicious that the immune cells seem to be more antsy than usual. I want her to slowly realize that 3803 isn’t lost, no, but she definitely hasn’t been reporting for duty for long either. And I also want to write the dawning realization that a lot of RBCs that have gone missing (including their ID cards), have been somewhat close (at least in passing) to 3803.
Another POV that I wanted to write was from the perspective of an immune cell. You know that one part in RBA where Cancer reveals a hat from a neutrophil and 3803 thinks it’s 1146’s? Yeah, I think it was 1145? 1147? Regardless, I want to write something horror-esqu to get across the feeling that if Cancer really wanted, he could definitely have killed 3803.
One last POV, would definitely be from NC-1816 (or the kind Normal Cell who mentors Cancer). Basically something slice-of-life, but he notices that there’s a tension between 1146 and NC/Cancer. They go on a trip to visit the lactibacteria and 1816 overhears and sometimes in a discussion about what is bad or good in the body. I don’t know, 1146 and NC love their philosophical discussions.
“A massive feel?” Oh gosh, more kind words!!! I always aspire to write stories where there’s a world underneath the surface. I love it when there’s lore in the mundane and I’m glad that you found it in my Abnormalities series.
As for 1146 and 3803... they aren’t exactly there yet, but if you read the latest one-shot, then they are definitely going down that path.
Once again, thank you for your observations and I hope that you have a wonderful day! :D

Everyone knows that it definitely be 3803 sweeping him off his feet and making him swoon * It's honestly hilarious how this is legit canon. 1146 was already glowing over her kind nature. But then 1st Cancer battle + Circulation happened, he was literally swooning head over heels for her and gushing about how amazing she is to him. I still remember how proud he was of her stepping up to be a mentor, thinking she's cool getting Rod cell to take his oxygen and saving the day more then once!
I know, right? The ship writes itself!

I answered this before in the post about RBC and Band Cell but I would like to know what you think
I think that 1146 was a bit cold at the beginning with 3803 ‘cause the most of RBC are scared o disgusted about how the neutrophils are and work. Maybe he thought: “Mmm, why are you so nice with me? Is this some type of tramp?” But and the end of the chapter you can see how happy he is after heard the same phrase he heard as a kid. For me, 1146 always hope to find that non-immune cell who wasn’t scared of him
Yeah, 1146 definitely wants to reach out and make friends outside of the immune cells, but he can’t do that. I’ve already mentioned this in another post, but I’ll state it again here.
Neutrophils have to kill off cells that happen to be infected by pathogens. Imagine having to kill off a civilian that you happened to be close with? Or not being fast or strong enough to save a civilian from a bacterial attack? It’s one thing to lose a fellow colleague because they work in the same line of duty as you, but it’s your job to protect those who aren’t trained. I think the separation of non-immune from immune cells is probably born because of what they perceive to be very traumatic and because of inherent differences.
Furthermore, I don’t think 1146 was thinking of 3803′s friendliness as a trap. He was actually quite receptive and (somewhat) friendly after getting over his embarrassment for acting so cold! Really, I think he was trying his hardest to stay calm and professional after his bout of bloodlust for pathogens, but it came out as being too cool and somewhat curt.
I think it boils down to the fact that 1146 treated the situation as he would as a soldier saving any sort of civilian: he’s only there to make sure they’re safe and to keep them out of harm's way. He wasn’t there to make friends or to establish a rapport with 3803.
On the other hand, with Band Cell, he had to establish a bond with Band Cell considering that they’re both working in the same line of duty and because he’s Band Cell’s mentor. This bond, while adorable and very supportive, was born out of necessity.
1146′s bond with 3803 developed because of happenstance and because he wanted to know her better.
So... cinematic parallels again? Hahaha, Band Cell and 3803 are so similar, yet so fundamentally different in their friendships with 1146.

Weird Pathogens (U-1146 x AE-3803)
Warnings: Fluff.
Anonymous Request: Weird Hataraku Saibou Fluff request, that’s based on a Miraculous episode, but how would Red Blood cell and White blood cell being trapped in a giant bubble, that they can’t pop, and White blood cell comforts Red blood cell.
.
.
.
In all of his time as a neutrophil, U-1146 wasn’t quite sure what this new pathogen was supposed to be. For one, it didn’t seem like it was doing anything too out of the ordinary—it didn’t even try hemolysing any of the red blood cells or eat the normal cells! In fact, all it did was float.
Menacingly.
Regardless, the immune system was all up in arms on how to deal with this new strain of… Disease? Virus? Inconvenience?
Even that last term was a bit of a stretch. All these strange pathogens did was gloat, partially block some of the circulatory paths, and look cute. On a whim, 1146 had tried asking some of the lactic acid bacteria if they were friends or had relations with these new invaders of the body, but they had simply shrugged and continued making polysaccharides and looking cute.
If only 1146’s job was easier.
Regardless, after a few of the higher ups had convened a meeting, it was decided that a select team from every sector of the immune system would pair up with an available red blood cell to deliver the pathogens to a designated quarantine zone.
That is, the body collectively decided that they were going to eject these strange pathogens the next time there was a bowel movement.
So, with that task blaring from the PA system, 1146 set out to greet his good friend, AE-3803. Much to his surprise, it didn’t take him long to find her. She had been on break after delivering a dozen packages of oxygen and at least a dozen more nutrients. When told of this new task, 3803 was immediately intrigued and agreed to the task. After all, the pathogens were annoyances at best and nothing bad had happened so far.
What was one more task on her already filled itinerary?
For starters, this task was probably going to be the last thing she was going to be doing that day.
As 1146 loaded the obscenely light pathogen onto her cart, 3803 eyed it with curiosity. Over the past few cycles, she had been seeing those strange things, but had never been too close to one. Curiosity, of course, had reared its ugly head every so often, but 3803 never indulged in her desires.
“Can I?”
1146 looked up from his task of guiding the strange pathogen onto the trolley to find that 3803 was hesitantly reaching out towards the pathogen’s transparent surface. While it was against protocol in general for civilians to interact with any and all pathogens, it certainly wasn’t a heavily enforced rule. After the events with the acid lactic bacterium, 1146 realized that sometimes it was best if other cell types were exposed to the other organisms that happened to inhabit the body.
Well, 1146 was already touching the pathogen and it wasn’t like anything was happening, so he nodded towards 3803.
Immediately, 3803 brightened, placed a single fingertip against the flesh of this strange pathogen, and then—
“Oh. Wow.”
“Indeed,” 1146 couldn’t help but breathe out in shocked dismay.
The instant the red blood cell’s finger had come into contact with the transparent membrane, the both of them had been swallowed whole. One second they were merely admiring the pathogen, and the next, they were stuck inside. The space itself wasn’t too bad. They could comfortably stand with a few micrometers of distance between each other—which was a far cry from when they had been caught up in that one blood clotting incident at the local abrasion.
Instantly, 3803 turned to 1146, her eyes apologetic and her hands wringing together.
“I’m so sorry, Mr. Neutrophil! You seemed all right dealing with the pathogen, but then I had to butt in and—”
1146 hushed her by placing a hand atop her shoulder. The weight of his comfort and warmth anchored 3803 as she looked up at him with hope in her eyes. Despite himself and the situation, 1146 found himself chuckling before squeezing her shoulder gently before saying, “Don't worry, I’ll radio the rest of my squad. We’re going to be fine.”
3803 smiled.
“So… um…” She looked askance, suddenly very aware of the fact that they still had room between them, but not nearly enough that they could stop facing each other. It wasn’t like she wanted to stop looking at 1146, but it was… rather embarrassing to say the least. (It also did not help that there were a group of cells looking in their direction with curious and somewhat leering eyes. “How long do you think that will take?”
1146 glanced curious at the rapidly flushing 3803 before he also noticed the audience outside of their shared space.
He, too, began to blush, but he reassured again by tucking her close to his side.
“Don't worry, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
3803 relaxed and leaned against his hold.
If anyone were to ask them later, they would say that they were very close to each other because of the limited space.

To add, from day one 3803 has been the leading one in their dynamic. 1146 takes the lead when it comes to bacteria problems or facts and directions of course. But 3803, like you said, was the one who broke down his barriers and befriended him when he wasn't looking for non immune cell friends. Post her getting more confidence, he follows her lead on personal matters and trusts her to handle things when he's overwhelmed and out of his depth in a crisis. He's the type who's like 'my Queen!'
Yes!!!
The dynamic is so *chef’s kiss*.
Pay no attention to the fact that I address the whole dynamic in your previous ask because I didn’t read this one that adds to it, hahah.
Question:
Does AE-3803 x U-1146 dynamic fall under himbo x girlboss?
I’m not sure canonwise, but the way I write them... it kind of works? They’re definitely not the perfect cookie cutter cutout of this trope, but I think they fit.
(Or have I finally reached a point where I no longer understand internet slang, hahah!)

Glad you enjoyed White and liked their characterizations. Lol, 2626 is that chill guy who will also stab you in the back to Dendretic for his own benefit. Don't trust him, But other then that, he's pretty nice. 2048 tries to be edgy and too cool but he's possibly the 2nd most fragile and softy there. The only other senior besides 1146 Band Cell can trust is big brother 2048. 4989 is the dangerous chaotic one who will throw you or pull a 180 into mama bear mode. Band Cell has his work cut out.
Hehehe, sneaky underhanded 2626 was something that I wasn’t expecting. At this rate, I’m beginning to think that 2626 is the main mastermind behind any of their pranks!
As for 2048, he definitely is edge; I get the whole jerk with a heart of gold kind of thing from him. He’s not a big jerk or anything, but he definitely could have been far more kinder, but I suppose that was back when he was younger so he’s probably matured since then.
4989… He’s feral, chaotic, and I love him so much. Nothing more to say about him other than the fact that I would not mind if he had some more one on one time with Band Cell.
Over the course of this new series, who do you think Band Cell will become closest to?

Wait. I have an idea. There have been ideas on 1146 staying over at 3803’s apartment. But what about 3803 having to spend the night at 1146’s barracks? Maybe there’s a huge attack near where she lives and 1146 and the germ crash into her home and ruin it. 1146 feels guilty so until it gets fixed up, he invites her to his barracks. It’s only for one night, plus she’s curious and knows he feels bad so she accepts.
There she gets to see where he stays when he’s chilling out. She expected to be ignored because WBCs other then 1146 typically ignore her. But after awhile several WBCs do a double take and start crowding her because Wow it’s u1146’s famous RBC! u4989 told us about you! They start teasing u1146 for bringing her here after she manages to spit out what happened to her house. She’s utterly clueless when 1146 goes from stoic to embarrassed (hiding behind his hat) to finally getting grumpy and shooting them all off. She’s even more clueless when 1146’s friends pop up and teasingly tell her to get them if 1146 is too much for her.
1146 gives her his bed. But they end up talking so much 1146 wakes up from one if the best sleeps w/o nightnares he’s ever had to find 3803 cuddled up to him. He freezes and almost freaks out. She wakes up and doesn’t think it’s a big deal at all since she and her friends sometimes sleep together. She ends up slumbering again and snuggling up to him more. 1146 is powerless to move his very small friend away from him because he doesn’t want to disturb her or make this a bigger deal then it is. But he does fumble with the blankets enough that by the time he falls asleep and wakes up again he’s somehow tangled them up and they’re trapped. 3803 thinks it’s funny and 1146 just has the I’m so done with this how do I keep getting into these awkward and out of my comfort zone situations expression.
He’s also decided to just die and become a zombie inside because he’s trying not to crush his crush underneath him while she laughs at him like he’s a dork. He is a dork but she’s laughing because she’s having fun seeing more sides of him and happy he’s more comfortable with her then before. Later she tells him this and it’s enough to make him stop apologizing and feel happy he had invited her over afterall.
~~~
“I don’t know about you, 3803, but you look super comfortable down there,” 2626 couldn’t help but remark. He leaned against the doorframe inside of 1146′s room, in his hand, he held a tray that held two steaming mugs of tea.
Meanwhile, 3803 sighed as she passed her fingers through 1146′s ruffled locks of white hair. Lying underneath his warmth, 3803 couldn’t lie: she definitely liked being held and comforted like this. After the bacterial attack at her apartment complex, she had been somewhat rattled and shaken. She had seen attacks all over the body, but never as close to her home until now. As she was nestled underneath 1146, she felt safe. Comforted.
Loved, even.
Before she could ponder the matter further, she glanced over at 2626′s smirking, but somewhat contemplative expression, and laughed a little before nodding.
“I don’t know about you, 2626,” she parroted his earlier remarks, “but you look super awkward over there.” With one free hand, she gestured to the spare chair near 1146′s bedside. “Why don’t you come over here? You’re not busy with more attacks?”
Softly, so not as if to disturb his sleeping friend, 2626 hurried over to the chair before he sat down and set the mugs on the desk. He stared mournfully at the mugs (he must have known that by the time 1146 woke up, the beverages would have gone cold by then) before he smiled down at the red blood cell.
“Did I disturb you, Miss Red? I thought you were going to sleep.” His canted his head to the side, his eyes intent on catching whatever reaction she had to his question. Or rather, to his underlying questions.
3803 thought for a moment. Instead of answering his question, she answered with a little quip of her own.
“I would ask the same of you, 2626. You brought two cups of tea. So--” She playfully narrowed her eyes at him, a challenge in her gold chromed eyes. “--either you wanted to leave this behind for both 1146 and I even though we should have been sleeping, or you knew about his sleeping habits that you only brought tea for yourself and I.”
2626′s eyes widened despite himself before he asked, “And what makes you think that I didn’t already have a cup of tea before joining you two?”
3803 had the nerve to roll her eyes. “Because...” She pointed at the leftmost part of his chest. “... I know that you have the heart share things with your friends.”
“Well, I suppose you’re right.”
The white blood cell leaned against his chosen chair, his eyes lost in thought. Despite the hair that blocking his vision, he could clearly see that 3803 was struggling to sit up while inside 1146′s grasp. For a moment, he watched in bemusement as she wriggled around while 1146 mumbled in his sleep. Finally, when it seemed like all hope was lost, 3803 finally huffed out a deep breath before unwrapping one of the arms around her waist so that she was free to sit up.
Now that she was free (and possibly drained from the extra energy she had to exert when breaking free from her best friend), she held out her hand in a “give me” motion, eagerly waiting for 2626 to hand her the drink.
“That was entertaining.” 2626 couldn’t help but say as he allowed his own sip of tea to warm his tongue. “It almost seemed like you weren’t trying.”
“Ha.” 3803 closed her eyes as she allowed the blissful aroma of the tea to fill her nose before taking a sip. As per usual, 2626 was a master at brewing tea. If he wasn’t a neutrophil, he would have been in charge of a chain of tea shops. “I’m just a little bit drained from today... and 1146 seems a bit too clingy when he sleeps.”
2626 snorted. That was an understatement.
“When we were pretty young myeloblasts, sometimes, we would sneak into each others’ rooms and sleep with each other. 1146 won’t admit it, but once you’re in his grasp, you can’t leave.” He nodded appreciatively at the way she sat up despite her still being in bed with 1146. “You probably cleared our last record faster than 4989 when hyped with sugar.”
The two shared a laugh before 3803 finally sobered and managed to place the cup back on the desk.
“But I suppose you’re not here to tell me childhood stories.”
2626 sighed as he lowered the rim of his mug back down into the palm of his hands.
“I just wanted to let you know... 1146 cares about you a lot. What happened today... He probably thinks that all that happened was his fault and he’ll probably...” 2626 looked almost helplessly at 3803. He lowered his cap so that it could rested low over both his bangs and his eyes. Despite no one seeing underneath his bangs, the red blood cell always had the uncanny ability to just know what he looked like underneath the bangs.
Suddenly, he felt nimble, ungloved fingers brush against his cheek and playfully bopped the rim of his cap.
“2626, are you scared that 1146 will overwork himself?” 3803 laughed before she shifted over so that she sat on the edge of the bed facing him. “Come on,” she laughed, “talk to me!”
2626 mumbled, “Kind of? I’m worried for you.”
“And him. But don’t you worry....”
2626 glanced up just in time for him to see 3803 brush his cheeks with the pads of her thumbs as she cupped his face. Her eyes were earnest, the smile on her face upturned and determined. For a moment, 2626 felt all of his worries and stresses disappear as he relaxed in her unrelenting hold.
“...I’ll take care him.”
2626 breathed out a sigh of relief.
“And don't worry... I’ll take care of you too.”
2626 hid himself underneath the brim of his hat again, unwilling to admit that the pallid coloring of cheeks were darkening.
~~~ Remember how we talked about how 2626 needs his own therapist. Behold: 3803 is now his personal therapist.
Also, I have been neglecting 2626 and 2048 on tumblr, so I might include them more often when the situation calls for them.
My heart still belongs to 2001, though.

I think 1146 would be very flustered if 3803 witnessed this really childish side of him. X D I also refuse to believe the Onsen chapter wasn't a fever dream of Band Cell's.
Hehhehe, I think the better question would be if 3803 would take in this hidden side of him in stride or if she would be surprised. We all know 1146 would definitely be very flustered if that was the case.
As for the onsen being Band Cell's dream... I have no reason to not believe you. XD The fanservice came out of nowhere for me, hahah. The whole fandom would have exploded if this came out back in 2018, hehehe. (Myself included).
Fanservice of U-2001 when?

Well, about 1146 preferring to be with his student and other neutrophils really makes sense when you remember that they are like his family (bros and adopted son/bro lol).
Btw, I think that It would be really weird for him trying to socialice with other cells that are scared of you (specially normal cells and RBC). I dunno, I have the theory that 1146 always wanted to be friends with everyone but knowing about the non-acceptance from the other side he just focus on forgot it and have time with others immune cells
That's also another good interpretation for the way 1146 acts when comparing his behavior from Main and White. I think I've said it before, but another reason why immune cells don't really associate with civilian cells is because of how painful it can be. When you're an immune cell, you're raised with the mindset that you can die at any time. You, your colleagues, your coworkers, etc. Anyone can die.
If you suddenly befriend a civilian cell, you're also faced with the sudden realization that sometimes you may have to kill them if it serves the greater good for the body. So, with the double threat of seeing them die or dying at your hands, and then adding in the fact that normal cells are frightened by the stereotypes of your cell type... well, I can't exactly blame 1146 either for not really associating with those outside of his squad and mentee.
Anyway, I love your little theory and I hope that you have a wonderful day! :D

That other theory is also pretty good and I bet it holds weight. It is canon that Killer T pretty much feels that way deep down. Though 1146 did tell Killer T he never thought about other cells before. I do like that aspect of 1146 of never having thought about the struggles of others doing their own jobs. He probably grew up thinking immune cells only had it hard. Never thinking about how RBCs have to constantly be in the move w/heavy packages through often crazy as dangerous areas.
^^^
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a matter of all these theories. Upbringing, reinforced behavior from civilian cells, the loss of life and the confrontation of duty over personal relationships... I bet it gets tiring being 1146 who has to maintain a sense of professionalism above all else.
It's very telling that 1146 basically shoves aside his personal beliefs just so he can be closer to 3803 in later arcs, hahaha!
Thanks for the thoughts and I hope that you have a wonderful day! :D

Band cell gives me impression he had a lonely childhood and that Naive T was his first friend his age. Considering he doesn't seem to know much or have much natural talent (compared to the WBC squad Band Cells). I'm guessing all those things are the source of his insecurities. Makes me wonder if he was called weak a lot by his peers since in ch1 he wondered if a weaking like him could ever be like his senpais. Maybe he ran away from bone marrow as a Myelocyte and didn't want to return? Poor guy.
Weak?
Insecure?
From the same bone marrow as 1146?
Has had memories of interacting with an older neutrophil only to meet up again in the future in a mentor/mentee type way???
Is this AE-3803???
The mangaka... she knows what she’s doing and I love her for doing it.
In all seriousness, yeah. Given how human bodies work in real life, we kind of need our cells to be in the best optimal shape at all times. If a cell can’t do their job, then what use is there? I don’t like that type of mentality, of course, but you kind of have to apply it to the CAW-verse because their jobs, their compliance with the rules and regulations of the body, are their livelihoods. You can’t have some weak cell mess that up, or you might end up dealing with rogue infections or cancer.
So, even if Band Cell and AE-3803 (and 2048) may not have been expressly bullied, they definitely are feeling the effects of insecurities. However, the way they deal with them are very interesting:
3803: She’s optimistic, innovated, and determined. She makes a mistake? That’s okay, she’s learned now and will do better in the future!
2048: Hides behind an overly cool, edgy persona. Really wants to bury the past behind him and overcompensates by appearing to be an efficient neutrophil.
Band Cell: He’s a lot like 3803, but he is far more realistic, shy, introverted, etc. It’s like if 3803 wasn’t as confident as she was back in the beginning. Goodness, though, we still have room for characterization and improvement for Band Cell, so here’s to hoping he can forge his own path and be the best cell that he can be!
